After finding out that the suspect has active warrants, the officers attempted to place the suspect under arrest. The suspect resisted and the officers found a pistol concealed in his waistband. Officers gave the suspect verbal commands not to reach for the weapon, and as the struggle continued, one officer discharged a weapon and struck the suspect one time. SCOOT OVER. DON'T MOVE. Officers finally detained the suspect, removed the pistol from his waistband, and provided medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived. The suspect was moved to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. No officers were injured. Chicago, Illinois, January 4th, 2020, around 3:10 p.m. Officers were responding to calls of a man with a large knife robbing people outside businesses near 79th and Marquette. The officers are able to spot him from their vehicle. He's got a knife in his hand. 16580 10-4 400 David emergency Let me see your 79th and Burnham male running Northbound Northbound He's got a knife in his hand. All right, 400 David has that male running northbound 79th and Burnham. I'm running with the knife. The suspect spots the police vehicle and tries to make a run for it. Foot pursuit ensues and the chase is on. COME ON, [ __ ] LET'S GO. YOU WANT TO GET SHOT? I'M RUNNING FROM THE DUDE. WHAT IS THAT? WHAT IS THAT? HEADING WESTBOUND YOU CAN'T EVEN RUN ME, MOTHER [Applause] GET OFF THE STREET. [Applause] HERE IS THE SECOND OFFICER'S BODY CAM. Get down. TASER DEPLOYED. FIND HIM. THE OFFICER DEPLOYED non-lethal methods, but it wasn't effective. So, the suspect tried to go for the attack, but was stopped by another officer and was shot with lethal rounds bringing this conflict to a close. 10-4 we're getting that video offender. [Applause] 10-4 taser deployed. He's shot. Shots fired. He's in custody. 10-4 I need a sergeant and four. [Applause] The officers were able to apprehend the suspect, but let's switch to a clear image of what just happened. Heading westbound YOU CAN'T EVEN RUN ME, MOTHER GET OFF THE STREET. [Music] >> THE SUSPECT WAS SHOT AT about 3:15 p.m. when the man continued to walk toward officers while holding a knife despite having been told to drop the weapon. He was transported to the University of Chicago in critical condition and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Brooklyn, New York, May 26th, 2024 at approximately 2:20 a.m. Two NYPD officers were in their vehicle after responding to a previous unrelated call at the intersection of Central Avenue and Eldert Street in Brooklyn. This man, Andre Josif Mayfield, suddenly approaches the patrol vehicle with a knife. Here is the body cam perspective of one of the officers. Mayfield was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Louisville, Kentucky, August 28th, 2024 at approximately 12:15 p.m. An off-duty LMPD officer requested backup to assist him due to a vehicle crash at the intersection of New Cut Road and Outer Loop. [Music] [Music] The officer enters the tire section of the Walmart and after asking customers if they saw the suspect, he is able to spot him and so begins the foot pursuit. [Music] As you can see, an orange shirt is discarded in the aisle of Walmart, meaning the suspect is well aware that he is being followed. The chase is on. [Music] Officer Brinkley spots the suspect running towards the front of the store and is hot on his trail. The security footage from Walmart shows that the suspect forcibly enters a minivan of an innocent victim and is attempting to carjack her. [Music] Put your hands up. PUT YOUR HANDS UP NOW. WHAT'S YOUR I CAN'T MOVE MY RIGHT ARM. LOOK AT THIS. THEY did something to it. The suspect attempted to carjack the victim at gunpoint by demanding the victim to drive as the minivan was moving. That's when Officer Brinkley took action and discharged his firearm several times striking the suspect. The victim safely escaped the vehicle and was not harmed. The suspect sustained non-life-threatening wounds and was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. [Music]
