Bounty hunters are empowered by an 1875 federal law that permits agents of bail bondsmen to enter residences and cross-state lines in pursuit of bail jumpers. Bail jumpers offenses can range from simple misdemeanor to armed assault, drug trafficking, and even murder. This is their world. I still turn your hand around >> across the United States. >> Over 10 million fugitives roam our city streets. >> Go back to school. >> Fugitive recovery agents. The real bounty hunters are the men whose job it is to bring these felons down to seek. >> Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. >> To locate. >> Hang on. You're under arrest >> to capture >> down. All the way down. >> Don't move. >> To bring them back to justice. Fugitive recovery agents, the real bounty hunters, is shot entirely on location and involve people that jump bail. Although guilty of jumping bail, they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. These are their stories. >> Um, it's he's failed to appear on two counts of probation violation. We've driven by the house a couple times. There's several people out in the yard. Need to be very careful. You know, the gun and all that good stuff, guys. >> Yeah. Somebody got to watch their back cuz it's a big open yard with like a field and gets dark back there. Easy weeze out the back door. I don't want to. And he be out of there. >> Officer survival. So, let's be careful on this one. There's several people. Like I said, I don't know what type of dogs or whatever might be inside the residence. So, let's just be careful on this one. We don't know what to expect. >> What is it? 59 200 lb. >> 59 200 lb. >> Okay. Do they have any cars or anything? >> No, we don't got information. It's a bunch of cars in the yard and it's like I saw a car vehicle in the back, y'all. I don't know if it's disabled or not. And then it's like I saw one in the front. The front door was open though. That's good. So push on the show. We just run direct straight in the house. This is the address that the warrant is for. So we have worry about trying to kick the door and tear nothing. Just go straight on in. >> Well, if the back door is open, you want me just to go inside the back? >> Yeah. If you go in the back, you need to stay close to the perimeter or the back door. Cuz if you come in the back and come all the way to the front, he can go right out the back. >> Well, we want to m mainly we want to be concerned where you're at, too. If we know you're right there at the back door, we ain't got to worry about you >> Exactly. >> popping up on us inside a room or something. >> And then also, we didn't want you to if you come in the back door window. >> Exactly. So, you going to need to be where you can position yourself where you can see the back door and windows if there any back windows back there. I think what we do once we get up to first street, I'll call up on the phone, run a scam on, see is he in the house in the residence, and then >> Good idea. >> Then I'll mic my radio so you can hear a conversation. So that mean we're going to just roll just roll straight up in the yard and just roll on everybody. >> Okay. All right. So So you're going to take the back and Greg and I's going to go in the front of the house, right? >> Okay. >> Okay. We'll take care of it. Let's go get them. >> Let's do it and be safe. This is a high drug activity area. We've uh made a couple drivebys. There's several people out in the yard, so we have to be very careful on this one. We don't know who might be carrying a gun out in the street or whatever. So, we're going to be extra careful on this particular raid. Jump out here. All right, they're running. Get out. >> Keep your hands where I can see them. >> Yes, sir. >> Check out the perimeter. What's your name? >> Have a warrant. >> You arrest. You missed the court there. That mean you failed to not have to act on that as of now. >> You can put the phone down. Stay right there. >> How you doing, Jay? I need you to go and drop the cigarette for me. >> Okay. Go and make that last. >> What's going on? >> Arrest for free appear for court. >> Go ahead and radio Kenny to watch the front door and watch. >> Keep on the front. Kenny on the front. I ain't never before you. It's a lot of roads here. >> You come around and get people. >> No, I need to put this right there. Go ahead. >> Make sure we have clear passage. >> You got it. >> Oh yeah. >> Know how to do some family members involved. >> Oh lord. >> This is for our safety and yours too. >> We'll see the key. >> Look. Double up these handcuffs so it won't tighten up on you. Okay. >> Oh, that's my daughter. >> Okay. But we want, you know, we got kids around. No kids should see this. No respect. >> And plus, I got my son out there, too, man. Who who want to keep my son My sister can't go to work. >> Well, somebody going to be here. >> I'll be here, baby. Go, man. I got him. >> Hang on one second. Do you got got any small pocket knives or anything? >> I don't get no [ __ ] right. >> Just need to check to make sure. >> What you got right here? >> Cuz I have a fit. You know that. >> Cigarettes. Yeah, I I could took that out myself, man. >> No handcuffs on you. >> I know. I should have a while ago. Y I couldn't in my pocket before y'all go in my pockets, man. >> Oh, this is procedure, sir. >> Damn. Y'all just tearing my to something new. Y'all just started. >> I'm sorry. >> Damn. Y'all s like I'm a damn crible. >> No, that's not it. >> It's the prime sink in your nose as well. >> That's all. You want to take the water with you? Yeah, I'll take my water with me. >> See, we got an ID in it. Wish for that ass ID when we get down there. >> Okay. >> Make sure nothing poking nobody stick. >> Yeah, my keys don't key there. Where you want them? >> Right here. >> No, I leave him here cuz my shop key work. There you go. >> I want his belongings right here on this table, man. >> All right. >> All right. Okay, the goddamn road. >> We did that all the time. We would catch everybody. >> You know what I mean? >> [ __ ] Y'all did >> wait. Get my son pressed way at She going to take care of me. >> Hey y'all. Hey. Hey. Sis get your head. Get in there. Come on. Watch your head. Put the seat belt on. >> Watch your back. Okay, >> let's go ahead and bolt out of here. Do you have the key? We just finished arresting uh Ricky Mlan. He was in the vehicle behind us. A couple other agents that are involved in the raid. Um, we approached the house. Agent Coats called in the residence running a scam. He got the fugitive on the phone. We rolled in at that time. He radioed us, told us that the fugitive was indeed inside the house and he was on telephone contact with them at that time. We raided the house. We entered the residence and the subject was still on the phone as we were jumping out of the vehicles. We arrested them at that time without any type of incident. We radioed the agent that was covering the back door to go ahead and come around front cuz we had a crowd control problem. There was about 10 people in the front yard. So, we wanted him to watch our backs while we arrested the subject and carried them to our vehicles until we got out of there. There was no real problems with this subject. It's just like fishing. Sometimes you catch them, sometimes you don't. It's just a big cat and mouse game really. Just have to outthink each other. All right, guys. Let me just real quick before we go ahead and make the road trip, a couple of things before we leave the office that I want to go over. Um, the defendant, um, the fugitive's name is Vladimir Zelikov. All right. He's a 25year-old white male. Okay. And the best information I can get from from speaking with folks who I've spoke spoke to, um, he's going to be about 5'10 and he's going to have a slim build, very probably going to look very similar to similar to you. Um, dark features, dark hair, dark eyebrows. Um, possibly could have some sort of facial hair. We don't know. Okay, that's the best information we have. We do not have a photograph. It should not be a problem. Um, but you never know. All right, so everybody remember the rules when we get there. All right, we're a team. Okay, we work as a team. There's no one there's no heroes. Okay, and there and and there's there's there's no individuals here, okay? We are a team. >> All right, so we're going to we're going to go on up to Elizabeth, New Jersey. First thing we want to do when we get there too, we're supposed to check in with the um the Elizabeth City Police Department. We will check in. I'll check in my credentials with them. I am not going to tell them where we're going because I don't want them to blow our bust. >> All right. >> Okay. Not that they would. Okay. They are our friends. All right. But I don't want them to blow our bust. It's going to be about 11:30 to midnight when we get there. This individual should be in there sound asleep. So, you know, we'll have the sledge if he decides not to open the door. I am not anticipating any trouble and that's probably when we'll have some. All right, the time for sleep that's that's over. Okay, for for at least the next couple of days. >> Okay, >> let's rock. All right. >> Okay. And real quick, let's talk now. We're not in Maryland anymore. We're in New Jersey. Okay. So, we're under the New Jersey statutes here. We've been together. We know what to do. >> Okay. I mean, everyone's clear on that. most important things when we get to the residence and everybody listen up and let's do it real quick because we we want to be in and out and being being that that we do believe that this is an apartment complex um we want to go ahead and and try not to uh disturb the rest of the tenants of the complex. The area where we're going is 255. Police officer informed me that this location is most likely going to be a single family dwelling. Okay. It's going to be a house maybe similar to what you see right here. Okay, these um in New Jersey, it's not uncommon to have a two family dwelling. What we're going to have is probably a stairwell that's going to go up to the second floor. Okay, and it's probably going to be an alternate stairwell for fire code regulations where there could be a secondary stairwell coming down the back and we're going to have to look at that when we get there. >> Um do I is there are there any questions before we go ahead? Because we're going to have to when we get to the destination, okay, we're going to have to be real quick. So, if we have any questions or if anybody has any concerns before we get there, this would be the time. >> Where do you get them? >> Everything's pretty fine. >> Everything looks good. >> Looks good. >> Okay. And let's go ahead and get over there. And again, we'll stop real quick. But I just again, we're going to be in a real neighborhood setting here. So, I don't want to go I don't want to like alarm any of the neighbors or anything. So, when we get there, let's be real swift. Let's go in, get the guy, and let's get out of here. >> Okay. Okay. I want you to just stop right here. Stop right here. All right. You guys stay put. All right. 219. Where's that road? >> 255. I'm going to go find out. >> All right. No. No. Turn the lights out. Turn the lights out. >> Turn the lights out. >> Thank you. Sorry. Nice. Go. Here you go. Great. All right. Here you go. >> I need to get to the second story resident. >> Why? >> Vladimir. >> I need to cuz um he's a bail jumper and I'm taking him in tonight. I have a warrant for his arrest. >> Okay. >> I just got home from work. >> Okay. He is your second story resident, correct? >> No, he's not on the second floor. >> Oh, he is not on the second floor. Okay, >> Vladimir Zelnikov. >> Okay, sir. Out of bed, sir. I have a warrant for your arrest. Come on. Let's go, bud. Come on. Up, up, up, up. Up, up, up. Right over here, V. Come on, Karen. >> Thank you. >> You don't need to watch. Okay, come on. Out here in the open. Okay, Vladimir, right here. Right here over against this freezer. Okay, I want you to put your arms on top of this refrigerator. Vladimir, Vladimir, please don't make me yank, please. Okay, hand, right hand on top of the refrigerator. Okay, left hand. All right. Cuff him. >> Bring your arm around. Vladimir, there was a bail issued for you in Arlington, Virginia. Okay. You were supposed to appear at a show cause hearing on September the 18th, 1996. You failed to appear. There's a warrant out for your arrest and we're taking you back to Arlington, Virginia. Let's go. Duck. Merryhead. >> Sir, we're leaving now. I will grab you a pair of shoes. We're leaving now. Sir, you are under arrest. We are leaving now. I will grab you shoes. But you're doing ma'am. Sir, we we got we got to go, sir. We got to go. >> Let you go. Just come on with us. >> Please don't resist our shoes. >> We'll put ankle shackles on you and carry out. Don't resist. >> Please, we'll get your shoes. We'll get your shoes. Let's go. Let's go. >> Let's go. >> Throw your head down. >> Keep your head down. >> Watch your head. Watch your head. That's the front door. You got him, >> Evan. Or I need I need one individual with me. >> Yeah. >> Mitch. Mitch. >> Scoot on over for me, Dad. >> Okay. >> All the way over. All right. Well, we got him. We got him in. Can you explain to me why you didn't show up for court? >> What? >> Can you explain to me why you didn't show up for court >> or court? >> Yeah, court. You have an FTA app to appear in court. >> Yes. Vladimir, I need to ask you, where do you keep your green card or your passport, driver's license, some type of identification? Um, any type of identification that you have, social security card, work papers, >> any form of ID, >> wallet for the pence pocket, you know, >> yeah, like to carry money and everything. Okay. >> Only only my social security here, uh, layback permit here. And, um, let's see. And uh I don't have driving license, but uh I got some format again like American Express cut. That's all only here. >> Okay. All right. Let me go see if I can't find that. Okay. >> Oh, better. >> We'll get you your pair of shoes here. Okay. >> Better I show you. But I think I maybe I can show you. No. >> No. They got to go in. >> Stay here. We'll be able to find it for you. >> We're going to look for it. >> Okay. We're for you. Who's a >> I need get Matt so I can get the papers from him so I can ask him some questions. What I have here on you, uh, Vladimir, okay, I have here, okay, from Marcus Bailbonds, okay, in Arlington, Virginia, uh, you were charged with bad checks and, um, you were supposed to show up on court 101 1896 at 9:30 and you had an FTA. >> What? >> You have an FTA failure to appear in court. You >> when when? 10 >> 101 1896. Yes. You're Well, no. As soon as we get a chance, we'll get your shoes and >> I don't know nothing. >> What's going on? >> He's going to explain it to the wife. >> To who? >> Are you married? >> No. >> Girlfriend? >> No. Vishk friend? >> Just Just a female friend? >> No, I don't have any female. >> Anything you witnessed here, you realize you have the wallet, credit cards, $2 in cash, shirts, pants, underwear, socks, and a jacket in his duffel bag that was found in in his room. You understand why you're being apprehended tonight? Is that correct? >> No. >> Okay. >> You just tell me something. >> Okay. >> I know. I keep for >> Okay. Vladimir, do you realize that um you were supposed to be in court in Arlington County, Virginia on um October the 18th? >> How do I nobody notification? >> Okay. You were informed on September the 18th via proper cause from the county sheriff's department that you were supposed to be in court at 9:30 a.m. on the 18th. Did you know that you were out on bond? Did you know you had a bail? only inform me. My attorney >> and and your attorney told you? >> Yes. Attorney told me because I know he banned me out. >> Right. Okay. So, when you failed to appear, that forfeited it the bond. Okay. So, then the bonding agent asked for your apprehension and that's why we're here, Vladimir, and we have to take you back to Arlington, Virginia. Marcus Bail Bond is the person responsible for the money to the court. So that's why you're being taken back because >> he won't be buy my master card. He is they uh have $2,500. >> Well, by his money, he won't be by my masterard. >> Sir, I I think you missed the point. You were supposed You were supposed You were supposed to be in court. >> Okay. That's between you and he. you did not go to court. You're under arrest for not going to court. Okay? That's going to be between you and the judge. Okay? So, you can explain to the judge that you put it on your master card and then he can make a decision. For right now, I want my team to make you as comfortable as possible because you have a very long ride. Okay? My team's going to make you as comfortable as possible. While you're in this vehicle, you will respect the vehicle. They are going to ankle shackle you and they are going to pull your hands around and let you ride with your hands in front of you to the ankle shackles. Okay. >> Anyway, I don't understand. >> That's okay. They'll explain it to you. I I'm done explaining. >> Don't explain to me because I don't understand. >> Okay. That's okay. They'll make you understand when you get back to Virginia. Okay. >> That's it. Guys, please make them as comfortable as possible. >> No, I think I don't need to go back to >> Well, well, you're going back to Virginia. >> Guys, I just want you to know. Perfect job. No problems. Have a nice trip. I'll see you guys in the office tomorrow. >> Sounds great. >> Beautiful job. Get in here. Close them up. Let's get out of here. Thanks, guys. Wonderful job once again. Bounty hunters are empowered by an 1875 federal law that permits agents of bail bondsmen to enter residences and cross state lines in pursuit of bail jumpers. Bail jumpers offenses can range from simple [music] misdemeanor to armed assault, drug trafficking, and even murder. This is their world. Turn your hand around. >> Across the United States. >> Over 10 million fugitives roam our city streets. >> Fugitive recovery creatures. The real bounty hunters are the men whose job it is to bring these felons down. To seek. >> We're going to be uh going to the city of Pomona today. Uh we're going to be going to the 4,800 block of Bandura. We're going to be uh looking for a female suspect for a felony warrant for PC 666, which is a petty theft with a prior. uh looking over her her records, she's been arrested several times for burglary and robbery and petty theft. So, looks like it's this is going to be her third strike. The apartment complex is right on the corner. And she lives up in this apartment D on the top level. There's a balcony back here. So, if um there's a real high to where she can't jump, >> it's a two-story balcony, but she can still jump because she's a rabbit. The stairs go right up right up the middle. And then there's a patio porch back up on here. So, she's got a lot of area to run back here. So, what we're going to have to do as soon as we get in is right up below the apartment. There's a hallway that goes back to the back. So, one of us is going to have to go back here and watch that area. Let's go get suited up and let's go do it. >> All right. >> Okay. Let's uh let's take a look at this photograph one more time. Um she's going to be easy to spot if she has no long sleeve shirts on on both of her arms. She's got um they look like burn marks where she's had her tattoos removed on uh especially up on her uh her right shoulder arm area. It looks like a burn area and on her hand. So >> um plus you can't miss that face. So uh let's get suited up and let's go find her. >> Okay. >> She decides to take off and run. Why don't I go after her? That way you can grab the car and parallel. >> Yeah, the car she's driving um it's going to be a mid80s old mobile cutless sort of. Um it's got body damage on the uh the right front fender and the right door. So you can't miss it once you see it. >> Okay. >> And if she's not driving, it'll be another Hispanic female with her head shaved. That's her uh >> her head shaved. Yeah, her head shaves. Get my gun belt on here. >> They say she's a fast runner or a slow runner. >> Well, she she's a little on the heavy side, so she she's not going to run too far. She'll try to definitely try to get away cuz she doesn't want to have her day with the judge. She knows she's going to go to prison this time for a few years. So, we're going to oblige the criminal justice system and put her back in in jail. be ready to go. >> We'll be 108 in route to uh the 4,800 block of >> Band. What we're doing is the sister gave us some information that >> the suspect that we're looking for had just taken off and that she was going to steal some more clothes which is the exact reason why we're looking for her. She's skipping bail on a pay with a prior charge and uh we're looking for the car right now and there's possibility she's at this mall and if we find it then we'll sit on and wait for them to come back out because sister said they weren't going to be gone very long. any luck at all, >> she'll be there. Her sister either way is going to call us. >> The sister's husband does not want her back in the house because they've been missing items from their house. So, she's been stealing from her own family. Can't tell that has no bodies. What's the plate number on that? Let me lift the plate up on that card. Look. That's what the car looks like right there. Just like that. Except it's an old I don't see the car and looks like a wash over here. Let's take a drive over and surround the mall area. >> We're going to walk up and check this uh apartment where she was at the other night. >> Hi. How you doing? You seen our friend today? Why don't you come and talk to me? >> Did I come here? >> That's her, right? >> Yeah, I know. >> Okay. Okay. Um, what's the address you think she's staying at with with her boyfriend? >> On Vandera. She's staying in Montlair >> on on the apartment complex after her sister's house. >> Yeah. But her boyfriend lives in the Angelo in Pomona. >> Right. I know that. >> Victor is although Victor is ex-husband. >> Yeah, but they're still together off and on. >> No, Victor. Victor is the one that's that wants to put her in jail because she failed to appear. He bailed her out of jail. Oh, yeah. >> And now he's on the hook for $15,000. So, he wants her foot put back in jail. >> Oh, okay. >> So, he's been trying to help us find >> Oh, yeah. Cuz he told us, but I didn't believe him because he would always be lying to us about her. >> But yeah, then he telling the truth. >> He wants her foot back in jail because >> she he bailed her out of jail on >> borrow money for borrow money for >> and he's going to be responsible for $15,000. All right. Can Can you talk? >> What store does she usually go to? The mall >> close to the exits. >> But she is she's definitely by herself. She's not No one with her. >> So what do they do? They buy the property from her or Okay. San Antonio and write this down. San Antonio and State Street. She'll go there before she comes home. What kind of what she using? Speed or heroin? Speed. Okay. And call this number back immediately if she shows up. Don't let her have any indication. And we'll swoop her. >> All right. >> Bye. >> Yeah, we if we have to go. That's That's where she buys her drugs. >> All right. So, she's gone from here. >> It's possible. >> Sandra. It's Bill again. >> Hi. Um, no. Any word? >> Okay. Do you know what she was wearing? >> So, black shirt, black pants, and black tennis shoes. >> Okay. Her she's kind of heavy, right? >> Is she real thin? >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Reddish color. She got it. Okay. Um if she So, you think she may be out trying to get her drugs right now? You'll go to the back of the house, knock on the door, and go from there. If the car's there, she's going to be there. So, chasing her too much. We're going in. If the car's there, we're going to go in. What we're doing is we're heading over to a location over on San Antonio at State Street. Been to the mall looking for her where her sister had thought that she was going to go to steal some clothes. That's what she was told. Uh we've been to the boyfriend's house. When we got there, uh, our subject jumped the fence and split. So, her sister's telling us that this house over on San Antonio and State Street, uh, it's going to be a place where she goes to, uh, trade her stolen property for her drugs. >> That's apartment complex there. What we're going to do is when we get up here, we're going to park we're going to park a ways down. Believe that's the car right there. >> Hello. May I speak to Sandra? Sandra. Hi. What? What apartment? Thanks. This is going to be an E. You copy? Watch the back. She's probably in there. Open the door. Enforcement. Open the door. Law enforcement. Open the door. Open it now. >> Hi. What's your name? >> Me. >> Yeah. >> Anita. >> Where's Amalia? >> Amaya, come out. Got a warrant for your arrest. >> Where's she at? Where she at? Put your hands where I can see them. Put your hands where I can see them. Step on out this way. Keep them where I can see them. You, I want to see your hands. Keep your hands where I can see them. Turn around. Put your hands on the wall. Do not move. You come over here and sit down. She's in custody. Come on in. >> All right. You have a felony warrant for your arrest. >> Okay. You know why? >> Okay. You have any weapons on you? >> Any knives? Anything like that? >> Watch this guy in the back. >> Who else is here? >> Okay. Okay, turn around. I'm all you. >> You have no You have no weapons on you at all. >> Okay. Do you have that? Sure. Hey, you got the picture on you? >> Yep. >> Yeah. Scar the right eye. >> Yep, that's you. >> Okay. We're going to be taking you to West Valley Detention Center. Okay. >> You have some shoes. >> Why don't you get her some shoes? >> David 26 one in custody. >> Come on. Uh and walk with us this way. >> Thank you for your cooperation. Appreciate it. >> A call from an informant that our suspect was in apartment E went up and knocked on the door and it uh information ped out to be uh real good. Apparently, it looked like she tried to escape out the back window uh as I was entering the front door. My partner seen the screen pop out the back and uh sure enough, she was uh there in the bedroom. We placed her in custody. We're going to go ahead and transport her to West Valley Detention Center in Sanernardino County and she'll be booked on her original charge for petty theft and also we're going to book her on an additional uh felony charge for failure to uh appear on a felony bail. So, we're going to go ahead and transport her now to uh San Marino County. >> We've been shot at several different times and um had knives pulled on me, have been cut and things like that, it's uh it's part of the job. Anyone that's considering getting into this type of work is if you think you're going to come in with a bunch of dogs and have all your AR-15s and shotguns and going to do that wannabe Rambo stuff, I got news for you, man. that isn't what this business is about. You don't go in there with arrogant nature about you or thinking it's going to be a slam dunk deal because it isn't. It's a lot of hard work. Tremendous amount of investigation. 15% of it being um going out and doing the actual arrest. Often times you have to go into court and get all your documentation and whatnot. Sometimes you have to make appearances if the if the bonds been requested. you got to go into court, make appearances on the exoneration of of those bonds in order for him to be able to get his money back. And uh it's just not it isn't a guy's got to be thinking this is the modern day type adage of u the modern day death bounty hunter. Used to be about maybe 10 years ago you could just go out and find a guy and just hook him up and that was it. But these guys are a lot smarter now. They're educated. So consequently, you got to educate yourself also. You can't just go out there thinking you're going to snatch up somebody called relentless pursuit. You know, never quit. And any individual who jumps bail, if you got a bounty hunter after you, this is the way that we make our living. So, we're going to be after you and we are going to get you. We got a U felony warrant service over here on a $200,000 warrant on an individual that's uh got civil warrants. How you doing? >> Pretty good. >> Good. Want to have a word with you. Who's bike? >> That's my nephews. >> Your nephews? >> Yeah. >> That over on Salbury. Yeah. >> Okay. >> What do you got here? Just a pocket knife. >> Yes, sir. >> That's it. >> Who lives here? >> I'll hang on to that. >> My sister. >> Your sister. What's her name? >> Kathy. >> Kathy. What? >> Back here, man. >> Paper. >> Hi. Are you Kathy? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> What's going on? >> I'm with the sheriff's office. Larry has just You don't get spooked. Larry has some more for his arrest. So >> Oh, did he? >> Yes, sir. >> What? >> I came back home to turn myself in, actually. >> Okay. >> Okay. Well, all right. We'll get this. >> I wanted to let you know so you didn't think there was strange men in your front yard. >> Okay. Well, he he was giving his good advice to the family tonight before he did. Will you plan on spend the night and then go in in the morning? >> Maybe. >> Well, we'll take care of it. >> Okay. If you don't mind, we're going to go ahead and return the bike. >> His bike is >> Okay. >> Where What's his address over there? >> South. Yeah. Okay. We'll make sure that he gets it back then so that uh won't have any >> Yeah. Get wander off or anything like that. >> Yeah. Don't sweat it. Give him a hug. >> Well, you get stupid stuff, too. >> Okay. All right. Huh? >> In here. >> Here and there. >> Yeah, here and there. >> Did you check his ankles, too? All right, guys. >> All right, >> we'll see you next time. >> See, the bad thing is >> The bad thing is is Danny's charm. Every time we've been what? We've been out fussing it all day long. Haven't seen a soul. >> He's here for five minutes, he gets a guy with $200,000 worth of warrants. So, >> should have let me know, man. Well, >> you got a bungee? >> No, it's only a block away. >> Well, you don't want to tear up your unit, man. >> See if they can find it. >> Did they find it? Ain't nothing. >> Yeah. Nothing a white can of spray paint in a in a dry garage can't handle. >> Get the folder on that way. >> He wasn't He wasn't bonded out, was he? Ask him if he was bailed. because if he if he was wrong on one over the years that I've been here uh working together with sheriff's office, they had a uh they had need for a backup on a $200,000 bench warrant on an individual, this guy that we just picked up. Um Craig had total of four hard felonies and the judge obviously wanted to see him. The backup was somewhat limited as far as what they had. So we went ahead and helped out and assisted them and it was it went down right down real well real well when they were going the opposite direction. Um Deputy Peterson waved me down indicating that he wanted to talk to us. So we went ahead and went on over there and u he briefed us as to what was going on, what was occurring. So and that's when he informed me that hey we appreciate the backup. So we don't have any problem whatsoever. Our rapport with the sheriff's office over here is very very very good. Is very excellent. In fact, uh they back us up, we back them up. It was just a very strong camaraderie that we have amongst each other. So, this one went down real well. We've been looking for this guy for about two months. So, and got some good information. What our guy? He borrowed a bike from a cousin, rode on over to his aunt's house and um because apparently he was aware that he was being looked for and uh seemed that he was back in the area. He was gone out of the area for a while for a time. So he came back in the area uh got information received information that he was had returned. So checked with the cousin and then uh ended up over at the aunt's house and consequently ended up getting her in. His uh warrants consisted of the four felonies were consistent of um H&M violations uh for drugs, possession, sales, theft, uh burglaries inclusive of uh from what was explained to me was also uh uh crimes, violent crimes against other persons. It could be anything like 242 simple battery or 245 assault with a deadly And so he's being transported u back down to the sub stationation and be he'll be booked in on those $200,000 worth of warrants. Uh we're going down there also for debrief with the deputies so they can get bounty hunters are empowered by an 1875 federal law that permits agents of bail bondsmen to enter residences and cross state lines in pursuit of bail jumpers. Bail Jumpers offenses can range from simple misdemeanor to armed assault, drug trafficking, and even murder. This is their world. >> Turn your hand around. >> Okay. Turn it around. >> Across the United States, >> over 10 million fugitives roam our city streets. >> I ain't going back to jail. >> Fugitive recovery features. The real bounty hunters are the men whose job it is to bring these felons down. To seek. >> Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. >> To locate. >> Hang on. You're under arrest. >> To capture. >> Down. All the [music] way down. Don't move. >> To bring them back to justice. Fugitive Recovery Agents. The real bounty hunters is shot entirely on location and involve people that jump bail. Although guilty of jumping bail, they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. These are their stories. >> They'd be going after a U Enrique Perez. He's only 19 years old. This is a pretty big guy. 6'1, 240 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes, and uh we have an address on him. Our bail bondsman tried several times to contact the guy and uh he's just being a flake. Sometimes it's real kind of hard to understand on these individuals that you know you you bail them out and you think you're doing them a favor. You know, they're asking you for this and they just keep on running. You know, they don't want to take care of the situation. See if we can get him into custody. When we get up here, Jason, keep an eye out for anybody fitting our description. I have no idea how this guy is, if he's a gang banger or whatnot. So, what we're going to do is make an approach to the front of the house and when we get the door to open and everything, I'm going to be down behind you in this area and uh be able to cover your back and also watch the side door open. Let's go. Hello. >> Yes. Can I help you? >> Yeah. Is Enrique home? >> No, he's not here. >> Open the door, please. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> How are you? Where's Enrique? >> They're coming to pick up Enrique. >> Where's Enrique? >> Where is he? >> Where is he? >> I know he's here. >> You got some ID on you? >> No. Okay. >> What are you running for? >> You need this. >> Right there. Stop. Come right out to me. >> Right where you're at. >> Right. Down on the ground. >> I'm just I'm going right here. Put your hand around the couch. What's the problem? >> Don't move. >> We have a warrant for your arrest. Okay. >> You failed to appear on us. >> There more people. >> You need to come out. >> Come on out. >> Put your stand right there. Don't do anything stupid. You understand me? Put your hands Put your hands out in front of you. >> What's going on? >> Is that Enrique? >> He's got a warrant for his arrest. >> You know who lives in this house. Who is it? >> Why is this? >> Because you're in this house. >> I don't live in this house. That's why you got the way it is. >> What's wrong with him? >> I'm just going to warrant for the rest. >> We don't need cameras. >> It's all right. >> Relax. >> Will you get out of here? I'll get out of here. >> Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Take it easy. >> Sit down. Sir, my rod is off. >> You're going to stay right here. >> You're going to stay right here. >> Let me explain something to you, ma'am. >> You didn't do anything, man. Take it easy. >> He's a fugitive. >> Okay. He failed to appear in court. >> Okay. He ran. He bailed out and he ran. >> Just take it easy. Just hang tight for me. Instead of taking care of this, we called. We asked if he's here and everyone's saying no. You're harboring a fugitive. >> Everything's good. >> Somewhere murdered somebody or robbed something. We don't know anything about this guy because he doesn't want to take care of his problems. It's the way it is. Okay. >> Thanks for your patience. Thanks for your cooperation. Okay. Okay. Relax. Okay. >> I know. I know. I know. I know. >> You're a fugitive. You failed to take care of this situation. Okay. You bail out for your freedom >> and you continue to run. You don't want to appear in court. Watch your glass. Okay. Right. This way. Come this way. this way. Follow me. Take easy steps. There you go. >> You're not gonna be able to bail out tonight. >> Okay. You're gonna remain in custody. >> Okay. Watch right here. All right. Enrique Perez, you're under arrest. Okay. >> All right. You can you can choose to remain silent if you want. I really don't care. >> Okay. We're going to take what we're going to do is we're going to take you down to Santa Barbara County and we're going to book you in. All right. Okay. Okay, go ahead and have a seat right there. >> You know, you can give us a silent treatment. It doesn't bother me in the least bit. Enrique, be on the line with me here and I'll help you out. We brought him here to Santa Barbara County Correctional Facility. On this particular individual, they uh verified that the original warrant has been multiplied by five uh times. So he obviously really made the judge pretty upset. He made a statement that state was looking for him uh to play football. So I think he's got an appropriate start because uh uh he got to run, you know, and he knows how to run. So he ran from the bondsman, ran from the law, but he couldn't run from me, couldn't run from Jason. Mr. Enrique Perez is in custody. Got a case we're working tonight in Astrosa. He's a $40,000 bail forfeiture out of Los Angeles Superior Court. He FTA on August 1st of 96. Apparently was uh bailed out on uh 7196 for drug charges 11351. arrested on 41195 for 11351 possession of cocaine base for sale. Uh arrested again LAPD on 51895 transportation narcotics control substance. The intel information we have is that he's staying in San Monteo at a address right off of Railroad Avenue. He's staying there. I don't know what the association of the address is, but he's awaiting some monies to be sent from Los Angeles by his brother. Um, I don't know about his citizenship on this. I don't know if he is a uh a registered alien or not, but he's got a fingerprint classification. He's listed as a Hispanic male adult. 56 I believe 150 150 or 160 on the weights, not fluctuating much over the last few years he's been arrested. As far as the DMV information goes, I don't know that we have any uh we have no vehicles associated with him. Information is he doesn't have any money right now. No vehicle. if he gets his money before Saturday, he's headed to Honduras. So, that's where we stand on this. So, we can get over there, do some uh quick surveillance, try to find out what the area is like. Just play by here. If it looks like it's going to be a bad entry, uh we will just wait, maybe do it first thing tomorrow morning. All righty. Yeah, I've worked cases out in the Sanonteo area and right off of Third Street, you have a lot of drug activity. At night, it's dangerous because not only do you have to deal with neighbors, you have to deal with the defendant and his family. You're also going to be dealing with law enforcement. You don't know what's out in the area. You may have some an undercover unit handling a drug operation out there. Uh you're going to have patrol officers out there. If they're not aware of who you are or what you're wearing, when they roll up on it, if there's any sort of an incident going on where there's a struggle or or any kind of a chase, they're not going to know who's who. If it looks real dangerous, if it looks like something we're going to have a problem with, uh we may opt to do this in the morning, early in the hour, 6, 5:36, just about light. Most people are asleep at that time, restricted traffic, and I think it would probably if if it looks like we're going to have a problem, that's probably going to be our best bet. I'm going to go one more block here. >> We have 21 and 12 South Railroad. However, cross directory 21 and 12 north. >> I don't know. Go into this drive here. >> I thought this is >> where do you want me? As you can see, I mean, even the kid that's up here on the corner right now checked Gary out pretty hard and now he's actually following up around the corner. Um, so I mean, there's always spotters in this area and it's just it's not safe for us to be tapping our brakes in front of houses trying to locate it. So, it's just better for him to walk the area, find the address. >> Looks like we have two open windows upstairs and uh the curtains are drawn back so we could have a visual on that. 104 about 25 yards up from where we are right now. We've got probably two units probably doing a drug bust. >> Okay, we've got a visual on a uh Hispanic male adult. >> Restore traffic for a second. >> Copy. >> Uh I'm going to take one more walk through and try to find out what the access to the back of this building is. >> Pretty well lit, so we'll be able to determine who's coming and going. Looks like we have two open windows upstairs. What the hell is she doing in that house? She's like jumping up and down on something. Are you taking a look at this? She look like she's playing with a kid. Huh? Can you connect me to Sonteo County um police department or Sano County Sheriff's dispatch? >> Hi, I need to inform your dispatch of our location. I'm just not sure if I have the right number. I'm trying to get I'm in Sonteo on Railroad Avenue. Okay, they obviously connect me to the wrong one. San Mateo County Sheriff's Department dispatch. We're conducting a surveillance on a individual wanted for a warrant out of Los Angeles Police Department. Okay. And we just wanted to give you some of the information. So, in case you got a phone call about what's going on in the certain area, we we're doing a surveillance right now, okay, on Railroad Avenue. That's where our address is, but we are across the street from it in a parking lot. >> We don't have a whole lot of time. And I know that the uh you know, the first impulse is try to get this thing handled this evening. That's going to be a mistake, though. I mean, I don't know the layout of the house. I am not aware of how many people are in and out of their window. We have one other male, female, and a child. I don't know if the defendant's armed. I don't know any of that. You know, we need to probably sit back tomorrow, do some more surveillance, get a little more intel on it. He's there. I mean, I feel comfortable with that. The guy's waiting there. He's got no money. >> He can't even move or go anywhere until his brother sends him something. So, here's the deal. Tomorrow, we're going to have the CI call, get some more information, confirm he's there. Wash your residence. If that's a business, that garage door is going to go up. We'll at least have some indication what we're looking at. Then if we need to make entry tomorrow, we need to make take him off some time. Whether he's getting in the store to go get something to eat or I mean he's he's going to get cabin fever sitting in there all this time. I he's going to move and do something. So we'll just sit up in the parking lot. There should be enough uh vehicles out there to kind of keep us low key and we'll just take them off outside the residence. I see guy in the green. >> Uh-huh. >> Went in shorter. >> We got on uh >> Yeah. That guy right there. Look right there. I don't know if that's the guy right there, but I'm talking about the guy in the green. >> That's the guy I'm talking about right there. >> Okay. There's another guy in a green. You got three males and two females. And the guy in the green that went in could be him, too. >> Everybody's there. Okay. Um, trying to think as far as getting the door open over there. Getting them to open the door. What do you think? >> I think uh you want to stand up to the side and then I'll just knock on it. >> Uh-huh. Should try it first, though. Open. Open. Oh, it's open. Okay. Uh-huh. >> How you doing? >> Keep where your hands are. See where you're at. Okay. >> Just keep your hands there. Keep your hands up. >> Stay right here. Put your hands against the wall. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. Get down on your knees. Put your hands on your head right here. >> Just keep your hands there. Step up for a second. Step back from him for a second. On the ground now. Onto the ground now. Onto your stomach. Hands onto the ground now. Onto the ground now. You in the kitchen. Step out to the ground now. Everybody down. Come here. Out here now. Now. You in the kitchen. Come around here now. You stay to the ground. >> Keep your hands where I can see them. >> Stay right here. Stand up for me. Stand up. >> You clear? >> Yeah, I'm fine. >> Okay, let me clear the rest of the building. Stay there. >> No, you're all right. You're all right. >> Okay, I've got two rooms. Clear. >> Keep your hands where I can see them. Get your hands spread back out. Okay, stay where you're at. Stay here. Got a weapon, knife, gun, nothing. No. >> Stay. Any quart? Knife, gun? >> No weapons. >> Bring him back out here for a second. >> No. >> Yeah. Uh, what is your name? >> Katanas. >> Katanas. Step back. If >> we got a good ID. Did you clear him for a weapon? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. Who here speaks any English at all? >> Mr. >> No. Okay. Hold him. Hold him there for a second. You stay there. >> Ma'am, step up for a second, please. >> Come on. Please. Please. Up. >> Okay. Over here. Please stop. Please. What is his name? Do not lie to me. What is his name? >> Okay. >> Don't lie. What is his name? >> Okay. Marcos see. >> See? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. See, she confirms it's him. >> Okay. You got any shoes? >> Shoes. >> Well, that's fine. Tell her to get his shoes. >> Okay. Come here. Please go get his shoes. Please. Okay. Up. >> Wait. >> One. Stay. >> Stand up. Stand up. Turn around, please. >> Okay. He's going to jail. incarcerated. >> Sato police picia. Samato policia. >> Department. >> That's where he'll be. He'll be >> Okay. >> Okay. Just >> go ahead and take him out. I'll just go ahead and hold. No. >> No. de Honduras. You >> Honduras, >> huh? El Salvador. >> Okay, back up a little bit. Stand right up here against the car. >> Let's get your shirt on there. >> What' you say? >> Okay, just I'll go with you now. >> Watch his head. Yeah, you just come with me. No, >> no. Right here. Go ahead and secure him with a seat belt. This one take this one. >> You got him. Yeah. >> I'm going to go ahead and tell the watch to come out over here. So, he's a little emotional right now. This is not really what he wanted. I don't know. This is a This is kind of what it makes it tough. He was kind of buying his time to get [ __ ] back in. [bell] >> Oh, sure. >> Yeah. Very nice. Do you have them? >> 45. >> Okay. Uh yes, sir. This is Gary Kates. I called in earlier and notified dispatch that we were on surveillance on a bell fugitive out of Los Angeles County. Uh we're in their lobby here. We have him in custody and we'd like to see if Sam will take him on the warrant. It's a Nobel felony warrant out of LA for drugs. >> Yes. Warrants out of LA. Does that uh Okay. >> Doesn't matter if you go to jail at the same time. >> Sure. It's right down in the road of the city, right? >> Yeah. Go to the front door. And >> we're going to go to the wire. >> Yeah, I guess that's where we're taking. >> Do you want yourself back up there? >> San Jose. >> We can take him to San Jose. We can just take him and book him in San Jose on his warrant and get somebody over there to take you in there. Yes, there's >> Yeah. Okay. Walk them on the side over there. Yeah. Go straight across. Oh goodness. ID. >> Yeah. Gary Kates. I'm an investigator with the bonding company. We called and cleared entrance earlier on a fugitive out of LA. >> Okay. Come on up to the next door open. >> Thank you, sir. Take him there. They're going to book him on Innosa and they're also going to pull his warrants. I think he has two additional warrants on the pan. >> He does. An FBI reporter showed two additional warrants. >> Okay, that was good. I was I was glad you cleared the back area, you know, come through there and uh with the door >> actually I approached the house and that and that door I just turned it and I slipped it open. I'm like, "Oh god, if they're right there, we're just like to." So, I closed it back, waited for you to get there and >> you went upstairs and >> Well, that made me nervous. So, I knew that was going to be I knew that that was going to be a tunnel going up there. When we go into a situation like that, the first guy through the door >> is responsible for taking the or female through the door is responsible for taking the immediate threat. >> The cover up since we're only working a twoman team. Second one through covers and secures whatever's behind the first man. So, when we first entered the place, I noticed that we had three males and two females in the living room area. So I immediately went to that location and detained that situation, contained it, and she went through, checked the closet, checked the bathroom where it happened to be. Problem was, she was out of sight of me. I was able to clear the two bedrooms and contain the situation with the defend with the other individuals in the house. Then I heard her voice become escalated. I wasn't sure what issue she had. So at that point in time, it was necessary to get everybody down on the ground in a position where I wasn't going to have much mobility out of them. That way I was able to back up and assess what she was doing and it worked real well. I was I was I was proud of that. >> That was a good job. This job is not all action. It is it's 90% chase and 10% catch. I mean >> it would have been real nice to show up there at uh 4 in the afternoon, sit, watch the house for about an hour and then go, "Oh, there they are." And then hit it. >> Oh, I think we did a good job. >> Let's get persistence. You need to be patient and uh in most cases it's going to turn up your guy. Heat. Heat. [music] Heat. Heat. N. Come on. >> [music] >> work right away. Oh my god. Heat. [music] Heat. [music] Yeah. [music] [music] [music] [music] All right. >> [music] [music] [music] [music]
