This is Latasha, a woman who found herself in serious trouble after confronting her boyfriend's friend. What started as a heated argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, putting her in a dangerous position. On March 8th, 2023 in Betterway, Washington, police responded to gunshots outside an apartment. Surveillance footage showed 44year-old Latasha acting erratically, believing her boyfriend had invited another woman over. As the woman tried to leave, Latasha broke the car window, attacked her, and attempted to pull her out. As officers arrived, they spotted Latasha and moved toward her. Their voices were firm, ordering her to comply. But with each step they took, the air grew thick with uncertainty. Stand right now. We're investigating some stuff. Stay where you are. Oh, I'm sorry. I have to literally hold that because completely beside the fact like that's a control hold, man. For instances in which people have guns on them. Okay, now I understand that whole thing, right? So now I understand that. All I was saying is when you said, "Oh, you was reaching for something." I wasn't reaching for I do think you were reaching for something regardless of what you're going to say right now. Okay. Did they point the gun at you? Nope. for I was in my house. Her screams echoing in defiance as her protests grew louder. They reached out to the victim seeking her side of the story. The truth, however, was about to take a dark turn. And I felt unsafe. That's why I pulled out of those apartments with his new So why did you come back here? No, I pulled over here. Why'd you come back to No, no, no, no. He gave me Hey, hey, you look, he gave me the keys to go to work. It's in my wallet. You will see the documentations of me being at work tonight. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about why he came back over here. I didn't. I pulled up over here and I called him. That's how he knew where I was. Him and his son go over there by his We didn't, sir. That's what I'm telling you. Him and his girlfriend. I have information shown otherwise. So, I'm asking you, you want us to listen to your son's story? No. Okay. What what I'm telling you is when we pulled up over here, he said, "Bring me my car." I drove in. He said, "Oh, I'm not giving you your keys." So, I turned around, pulled out. When were the shots fired from? I don't know. My When I pulled over here, my son stayed over there. I called him. He said, "I'm not giving you your keys unless you give me my How did your son get over there?" He probably walked from where? From the inside of the apartments. When I pulled in the first time, he got out my car. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah, sir. I'm not lying to you. We was arguing with the lady to the to the right. All right. Sit tight. Can you ask me the Can you answer one question? What? What is that? If he gave me the keys, gave me his car. I can't answer that question because I wasn't here. Would you ask him if he would take my car and park it in his parking lot? We'll deal with that later. I'll let you. Would you take my car and park it? No, I'm not your car. Y'all want to talk to her? Who's that? This the one that she jumped on, lost her keys in the car. She thought she didn't know. Was she a victim of any crime? Yeah, she jumped on 30 minutes ago. That's what I was getting. So, here's the thing, right? I'm going to take the responsibility of whatever I did. I don't like you guys to hear what he's done. He's lying. My phone's over there. Okay. So, she was assaulted. Huh? Yeah. And she busted the window out the dude's car, too. Why would she do that? Cuz she come cuz this girl come to my house and she was there. I'm tired y'all come to my man house. The girl left and went to get back in the truck. That's how she lost her keys. So, she's the one that got assaulted earlier. Yeah. My phone. Your phone? I have not had a chance to touch it. And I guarantee you what he's telling you, the text message will be different. He didn't say anything about text message. Officer Graph, Federal Police Department. Um, so we're still investigating this. Were you a victim of a crime? Did somebody threaten to kill you? Were you assaulted? Yeah, she Yeah, she Yeah, she she Okay, so sir, this is what happened. I was coming into the Mary from shopping. That woman that he's talking about, that's the same woman in my phone right now that threatened my life less than 30 minutes ago. My uncle passed away in another apartment unit. And so the corner hadn't viewed his body yet. And so I went in to say, "See, my uncle died." Me and my uncle were very good friends. So I walked up to door and I knocked on it. Like I I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about what happened tonight. Officers carefully documented the damage to the car. Their focus sharp as they gathered evidence. With the suspects now in hand, they moved swiftly to process them. I get that. But what I'm telling you is I am here because he called me and text messages and phone calls were proven. The same woman he's telling you guys to go talk to to be against me is in my phone her threatening me to say she's gonna call the police. I need for you guys to do a full investigation. That's all I'm asking is for their hearing. I'm going to be playing for what I done and not for what I didn't do. That's all I'm asking. That woman and what he's saying is a lie. I don't know. I don't know what he's So So we have Shaw's over there. Okay. I'm going to be taking pictures for behind the cars. Got it. I know Mike was taking a couple photos over here. If you could like do some posing for the pictures. We'll use it in a recruitment brochure or something. Sure. Oh, I was going to use it for a recruitment thing, but All right. She's like, "Get out of my scene." I didn't find any damages on the cars. had any damages on the on the building even when we were up there. I think he was just doing the whole said what I mean and I mean what I said there's not a side of the story that you have right that's that's not what I'm saying whatsoever. I'm just saying we have to go off of what we got. Okay. You know, even if you guys have my phone right now in evidence that can prove that whatever he's telling you guys, he called us up here. That's once we got here, he called you guys and set us up. He knew my baby had a gun. Had a gun. That's because of a conversation they had, not with me. I wasn't there. And that's between you and a lawyer in the future. Okay. You tell the lawyer about that. Where we're at right now is you and him are both going to go to jail tonight. Uh and then it will be solved out. Both the suspects were charged with one count of felony harassment. And Dawn was also charged with a misdemeanor count of discharging a firearm in a public place. Meet this suspect who disrupted a school and created chaos. Some people forget that their actions have consequences and he crossed the line. Threatening a student inside a classroom was a dangerous choice, one that would not go unnoticed. On June 13th, 2022, officers were called to a school after reports surfaced of adults aggressively confronting a student in the middle of class. When officers arrived at the school, they were met with a scene already spiraling out of control. With authority in their voices, they ordered the woman and man to step outside and hear them out. What happened next would set the course for the unfolding drama. [Applause] Nothing, bro. I'm asking them to leave their key. Got to go. Yeah, we got to go. We got a key. It's time to go. We're supposed to just leave. Yeah, you're supposed to wait outside, man. [Music] Tiff Tiffy, come on. Let's go. Come. I'm waiting on my son to come. Yeah, wait outside. Wait outside. Tiff, you need to wait outside. Come on. Let's go. And that's exactly what we'll be waiting outside. Hey, listen, bro. So, they got a student that uh they got on camera. We done. We don't even need you no more. You done the principal of this. We need no help. This is his school. They got a student that they got on camera stealing this stuff and they ain't even done nothing about it. He's saying sure they're working on it. Yeah. No, listen. Yeah. I'm sure that's the I'm just explaining the problem to you. So, you thought it would be a good idea to come into the school and confront the kids. That's what that's I don't know how they do stuff around here, but that's how we do it. I'm not from here by the time they um that's how you get arrested around here. I mean he going to be the left of this stuff and then what we do. So listen tomorrow I haven't even been brought in the loop on this. They probably just happened right? So he told you and you guys are going to come in and confront the kid. Nobody told me nothing. What do you think's going to happen? And I didn't confront anything. I came into the school. My sister told me, "Hey, somebody stole." Did you check in with the man? Yes, I came in. Where's your business? I don't have a business pass. I didn't get a chance as soon as I got You guys are not going with the program. You're not good with the process, man. Ask me a question. You ain't even let me finish. How you know I ain't going with the program? How you know? Where's your sticker? I just explained. You ain't even let me finish. How did I get in? You just walk in the doors. The doors. Exactly. That's how I get in. Exactly. All right then. Let If you let me explain, you'll know if I process or not. Now, let's go ahead, bro. We just waiting on my nephew, man. It's fine. How we get in the door? Like they let us in cuz I ain't got a visit passport. How we get in? The door's locked. They let us in. It's fine, too. That's cool. So, your nephew goes to the school. Are you guys on his emergency contact? I'm his mama. Ain't no emergency contact. I'm his mama. Okay. This is your nephew right here. Yes. So, what are you waiting for? I'm my son. Okay. I cannot have you. I'm not talking to you. Check the [ __ ] up. You're on my school property. You are not allowed to come here and go into a classroom. Well, I do care. So, they're heading in the right direction now, I guess. But the officers firmly told them to leave the school premises, making it clear they hadn't entered the classroom. As they spoke with the school staff, new details began to emerge, hinting at something much bigger. So, what happened, as I understand it, he had something stolen from him. uh in the process of looking for it, the student called uh the family. Family can then come to the main office and then they say, "I know where where is he? I know where he is." They run down or walk quickly down to the classroom inside the classroom. They went into the classroom inside the actual classroom and then yell at the kid sitting there while classes in session with 30 other kids, where the my stuff where is this? And I had to yell at them to leave. Well, you don't you're not allowed to come in the classroom. Where are you going? And I was yelling at them down the hall. And so I said, "You do not have permission to come into the school into that room. I I do it what I want. This is how I do it." So the woman Those doors normally locked or are they open all the time? They normally are locked, but she was allowed to be in the office, not allowed to be in a classroom. She just stormed out. So she sorted out. Is that dad right there that you're talking? No, no, that's that's uncle or something. Okay. I kept saying my nephew so I don't know but not allowed to be in not allowed to be in the classroom in the class right there. It's coming towards us right there. One of the guys like four of them. So what is the process for trespassing? I think right now it's trespass. I have to contact office but they're not allowed. Okay. If they do give you the green light I'll gladly go find them. Should be easy to find out who is locked off. Circle. I think three of them got in a car. He's talking to somebody out there. Okay. The back of the car. No, there's somebody else out there. So, is he supposed to be here or No, the uncle. Is he I don't know. Does he have a child here or is he just He's just an uncle. I'm not aware that he is on a card or anything. I don't even know who the kid is. I just got called in to the family. He's parked down there or if he comes up here. No, he's not. I'm just telling him. Do you have a child that goes to the school, man? Just pick him up. My car. You do have a child that goes to the school. Yes. Are you on the emergency? Okay. Let me look him up real quick. No. Hang on, dude. What's your nephew's name? They turned to the victim, eager to hear her side of the story. With every word, the details of the incident began to unfold, revealing layers that hinted at a much darker truth. We had already been kind of discussing what happened about how you were confronted by these adults in class. Uh, can you kind of give us the backstory about what led up to that? So, I came outside, approached my approached my friends, and we were just talking and playing around, and then I saw a backpack uh two backpacks on the floor. Mhm. And uh the top one had um um phone and a wallet on the side of it. It's pretty clear that you can see like anybody can steal that. Was it like a like a a side pocket or like one of those mesh mesh pockets? sidewalk. It's just like this. Okay. You can you could clearly see it. Why were you taking notice of this backpack with the phone and wallet in it? No, because it was just on the floor and then I accidentally like saw it. Okay. And then um as and we were like uh just and then my friend and me and uh Cyrus moved all the way through back cuz we saw some other friend people friends have uh like football. So we approached them like to play football. Was this during uh lunch time? Yeah, during lunch time. During second lunch. Second lunch. Okay. And then I moved away and I don't know what happened after that. And so as I was sitting in the class, uh somebody angrily like knocks on the door. So can I take Can we go back real sec for a second back? So you noticed this this backpack with a phone and a wallet in it. Mhm. Um was your backpack next to that backpack? No. Did you have your backpack on you? Yeah, it was on me. Okay. So, you're wearing it while you're playing around at second launch doing playing football and stuff? Yeah. Okay. So, you just happened to notice? Yeah, I just happened to notice it was on the ground. It was like pretty close to me. But did you touch Did you touch that bag or move it or anything like that? No, I never touched that bag. You were just kind of close to it and you noticed it. Yeah, I noticed it cuz like it was on the floor like two back legs on the floor like anybody noticed that. You never made contact with it? No, I never made contact with that. Okay. So, you walked over to a different area to see some other guys and and then you went to class. Yes. What class did you go to? I went to 8th period which the incident happened. Yeah. So, where who's the teacher of that class? Uh, Mr. O'Brien. Okay. Do you know the classroom number? No. Okay. It's all right. Miss O'Brien's class. Yeah. Okay. And um as I was sitting in the class around 1 100 1:00 p.m. 1 1 p.m. to 1:30 or 40 p.m. as I was sitting in the class, somebody angrily knocks on the door really hard and I didn't even like pay attention to it. I was just talking to my buddy and sitting in the classroom. Yeah. And then somebody approached me from behind and tapped on me and another man uh goes around and stands in front of me and and there was a female behind me and then there was this student. The police pressed on with their investigation, seeking more answers from the victim. Each new detail she revealed deepened the mystery surrounding the incident. And and as they were walking out, they threatened the students and especially me of like uh knocking knocking you out or like physically hurting you. Mhm. And yeah, that's pretty much what happened. And then they accused me of like stealing other people stuff like Okay. his stuff. And how did you take this? Were you just like sitting there like did you say that? It happened pretty quickly. You just came in. They were like this. And then did you take my uh like she was like, "Did you take my nephew's stuff?" And I was like, "Well, what stuff?" And then I looked back again and then I saw her him like like Joel, right? Yeah. And he was like like quiet there and I was like, "Oh, so that's that's her nipp." And I was like, "No, I didn't take his stuff." Okay. I said that. And then as the principal and the vice principal came to me and then like, you know, escorted them out. Okay. And as she was walking out, she was threatening the students and especially me. What did she say specifically? Specifically, she said, "Um, I will uh I will knock anybody out who took um uh my uh nephew's stuff." Okay. Yeah, that's pretty much what happened. She said, "I'll knock anybody out who takes my nephew's stuff." Yeah. Okay. Did you feel concerned like they were really going to carry out that threat? Yes. Yeah, I was concerned that they were carrying out that threat. Yeah. Did that male say anything to you? No. The male stood quiet in front of me as the female shouts, but um as I think as they were walking out, uh the male said something, but I don't I don't know what he said. Mhm. And you didn't see them again once they were escorted out of the classroom? Yes. Okay. Um, have you have you spoken with your parents about what happened? No, I haven't spoke with my parents. The district tried to call, but they didn't pick up the phone. But I can call right now. Yeah, we could try again. Try to call them. All right, Beck. That's pretty much all the questions I have. Um, obviously don't talk about this, you know, don't cuz there might be some rumors floating around and it's kind of a ongoing investigation. So, do me a favor and just don't spread any more rumors about what happened, okay? Um, we're working on it. The school is working on it as well, but obviously we can't have The student's parents chose to press charges against the woman who was subsequently charged with harassment and making threats.
