Okay, I'm giving YouTube a moment to register and also mic check. Mic check. Hoping my mic is good to go. We shall see. It's on mute on purpose right now. No, there's no problem with the sound of the video. Just double check. Okay. Okay. I think YouTube connected. All right. So, we are I was I've been very very interested in um this trial kept popping up on me and so, uh there's this XNFL scout for the Tennessee Titans and let me just go to my slides because I know I'm going to basically it it kept getting to me and I'm like I need to I just need to look at this. So, this is at its core it's a watch along. I may have some things to say sometime so I may pause and talk about it. I'm mostly probably going to be taking notes to keep up with some things, but uh just in case you haven't heard or you've come over to kind of see what other people think. Like MJ said, she's already been aware of the trial. Um this is kind of where we can gather. Okay, so the verdict already came out and everything, but I just like to watch the trials back because I don't have time to be there in real time. But this is Tennessee versus Bla1 Taylor, and it's nicknamed the Poison Playbook trial. And the incident date happened on February 25th, 2023. It's going to it was in Davidson County, Tennessee is where the jurisdiction is. His charges are firstdegree murder. He has two of those and two felony murder charges. The victims are Jade Benny and her unborn daughter Ivy, which is suspected to be also his unborn daughter. She was five months along. Um, so injuries basically was a fatal cocaine poisoning and fetal death. And so we're starting with trial day one, but we're focusing on the opening statements only right now. And then we'll just be making our way through the trial, the witnesses, and everything else. But today is just defense and prosecution opening for for us while we're here together. Um, so I do have more of a summary of the whole day though, just so when we get there. On day one, uh, Jay Benning's friend will testify, Naj Jackson, her best friend. Um, there's a medical examiner and, uh, former girlfriend, Apple, and I believe there's also going to be someone speaking about a body cam. I just I have to verify names and everything. the key evidence that the day one trial will present, but we're not not in the opening statements, but when the witnesses start speaking and everything. Um, so we're going to have opening statements, indictment, authenticated body camera recordings introduced through foundation testimony. Some key moments for the day one is that the jury sworn in, indictments read, opening statements delivered, state began presenting officer testimony and authenticated body camera evidence. Um, prosecution's position is that Taylor intentionally poisoned Jade Benning with cocaine, causing the deaths of Jade and her unborn child. The defense's position is that Taylor did not poison Jade. Um, they emphasize Jay's lifestyle and personal choices before the incident. Uh, jurors, they want jurors to evaluate the evidence before, during, and after the incident or in her murder. Basically, February 25th, 2023. But for the defense, they're saying it was not ruled a murder. It was ruled um how can I just forget this word? Oh my gosh. It's when they're not sure how someone passed and I can't get the word in my head for some reason right now. And um they the defense also argues that the state has not proven its homicide theory beyond a reasonable doubt. And breaking down the charges, there's first-degree murder uh because of Jay Benning passing, intentional poisoning with cocaine laced drink is uh been described as a pink drink. Um the other charge, felony murder, death during alleged poisoning underlying felony. First-degree murder to the unborn child, Ivy. Premeditated act to stop birth. Felony murder uh for the unborn child. Again, the second charge of felony murder, fetal death flowed from same felony act. All right. Okay. So, we're going to start with these opening. Well, we're going to start and end with opening statements. So first we'll have the prosecution >> and against the peace and dignity of the state of Tennessee signed Glenn R. I'm not >> okay mistake. >> Yes. >> What did you put in my drink? >> I knew my drink tastes funny. You did this because didn't want to think. Those are a few of J Benny's last words heard by her very best friend, Na Jackson. Words that she heard spoken to Bla1 Taylor over the phone 20 minutes before ENT would find Jay Benning pulseless. EMTs found Jay Benning face down laying across her bed, not in her bed. Across her bed, face down. She was pulseless. When they found Jay Benning, she had this pink frothy liquid around her mouth, like this spit up. And the area where she had been face down on her comforter, it had that same pink spit up vomit on it. The ENTs did not even know that Jay Benning was five months pregnant. They rushed Jay Benning to Vanderbelt Hospital and when she arrived at the ER, Jade Benning was dead. You will hear evidence in testimony this week that none of the treatment team at Vanderbilt's emergency room had that night of February 25th, 2023, just after 10 p.m. when Jay Benning came to their emergency department. You will hear the evidence and testimony that the blood sample that was taken in the emergency room at 10:31 p.m. the very first blood sample from J Benny that the later testing that came back months later. The concentration of cocaine in her blood was so high it was unlike anything the medical examiner in this case had ever seen. but it was higher than anything the entire medical examiner's office had seen. You will also hear evidence and testimony that the testing of that pink spit up vomit on James Comforter that it also tested an outrageous level of cocaine. You will hear evidence and testimony from multiple different experts that the physical evidence in this case shows that Jake Benny orally ingested cocaine that had been dissolved in a liquid. You will also hear that Jay Benny was drinking a pink drink that night. Before any of those events happened, Jay Benning was a young 24 year old about to turn 25 young woman who was very happy to be five months pregnant. J Benning was not from the Nashville area. She's from Arkansas. She grew up there with her mom, Bridget, her stepdad, Lynn. That's where she met her very best friend, Nada Jackson, when she was just six years old. Jade went on to school. She was a competitive athlete growing up. She went on to school, but her dream was to be a chef. And she achieved that dream. She went to culinary school. She graduated. And Jade actually had family living in the Nashville area. Her stepmom and dad and her half sister lived in the Nashville area. And her stepmom's brother owned a restaurant and he hired her on as a chef. And she was so happy to be living her dream. She had a group of really close friends that worked with her at the restaurant. And that was early 2022. And then in August of 2022, Jay Bennett's best friend Jackson, her very best friend growing up, moved to Nashville to go to school at Mary. They were back together again. And these two girls talked constantly, told each other everything. They were so incredibly close. And it was about that same time in August of 2022 that Jay Benning had both linked with Louise Taylor on a dating app. They started trading messages and in mid August they went out to one dinner at Stony River and went on a date and they began a casual relationship. It became sexual. It it was not a public relationship. They dated sometime in late September, J. Benning became pregnant. Now, she did not find out that she was pregnant until November 2nd of 2022. And when Jake Benning took that home pregnancy test, the very first thing that she did was she called her best friend. She told her and they started planning to figure out how they could get an appointment to make sure that that was in fact the case. and she confirmed that she definitely was pregnant. Jay Benning reached out to Lacy, told him that she needed to talk to him in person and they talked and then the next day they talked some more. J Benning reached out to her mom Bridget, to her dad, Dennis. She told both of them. She talked to Na a lot about it. She was happy. Then on November 6th of 2022, she sent a message to Blake Steeler confirming her choice to the ultimatum that he gave her. There were no more messages between them. Not any messages until New Year's Eve. Jade Benning went to her November 16th, 2022 ultrasound and Blaze Taylor was not there with her. She began planning. She was living in a one-bedroom apartment. She began planning to get a two-bedroom, and she just started doing all of the things that you do to get ready to have a baby. New Year's Eve, she didn't have to work that night, but she still went to the restaurant that she worked at. She went with her dad and her stepmom, and they were there with everybody at the restaurant for New Year's Eve. Bla1 Taylor reached out to her on New Year's Eve, and after that night, they began speaking again. and the the messages they sent back. It was kind of trying to figure out what what was going to be. Jade Benning ultimately expressed that she wanted a relationship with him. Bla1 Taylor didn't go to any of Jade Benning's pregnancy appointments. She had three in February before she didn't go to the February 2nd appointment where she was going to find out if they were having a girl or a baby boy. She asked him to go and he did not. the week before February 27th, 2023. That week, that day of the Saturday, earlier that week, when Taylor went out of town on a work trip and he came back early that Thursday morning, and Jay Benny wanted to see him, and they messaged, she went over to his house midm morning for a little bit before he went to work and she asked to see him that night, but he did not make that happen with her. And on Friday, she then wanted to see him. She went over and they went and ate at Waffle House and she wanted to see him that night and she messaged him, but he didn't return her message. But Blaze Taylor was messaging people that night, but he specifically sent a message to Savior Winford that said, "I love you and I need you to love me back and be in love." That is the night of Friday, February 24th. Jay Benning asked Lace Taylor again on Saturday the 25th if they could hang out and have a date night and he agreed and she told him to be at her house at 7 p.m. Comfy clothes. She had something planned and she had already been talking to Na Jackson about what she was going to do. She came up with an idea that they would do kind of like a sip and paint, not the sip because she was pregnant and she was not drinking even alcohol, but that they would paint and she would make dinner. She, the chef, Jen was going to make one of her specialties, chicken alfredo. Na Jackson suggested that meal because it was her favorite. Na wasn't eating chicken, but she wanted the Alfredo. She suggested it. And that day, Na said, "I can stop by and get some food." Because Naia Jackson, her best friend, when she was six years old, had never met with J, a man that she was having a baby with. And so that day, Jay worked early in the day, but she went home. She got everything ready. She had canvases. She had paint. She took multiple pictures of everything. She cooked at dinner. She took pictures beforehand. About 7 o'm Taylor came over and they ate dinner together. And then at 7:30 Jackson, she had been at school and one of her friends that she went to school with, Fiance Jones, was with her and they stopped by to pick up food. They weren't planning on staying. They ended up being there for about 30 minutes and they talked to them. Jay got to meet Blaze Taylor for the first time. They did both notice that Jade was drinking a pink drink. They didn't drink anything while they were there. Then they said goodbye. Right afterwards, Na starts texting Jay, talking about the cute interaction they had, and they have a couple text messages. And thus at 8 p.m. [clears throat] an hour and a half later was the next time that Jackson could hear from her and she would not sound the same. During the hour and a half time period, Jade was very active on her phone. She took pictures. There's a picture at 9:10 p.m. where you can kind of see a progress the painting project. And you see Jade's paintings and she has the words love that she's painted on the painting. These paintings were for the baby nursery because she was having a baby girl. And you'll see the pain that she has that says love, hope, inspire, peace. And then the digital currencies expert from Metro National Police Department will testify and explain that you can tell that Jay Bending not only was on Pinterest, but she actually searched she was looking for inspiration for more words that were beautiful words of inspiration. So that's from 9:10 to 9:24. At 9:24 there are series of 12 photos taken. The 12 photos are all pictures of Jake Bennett and Bla Taylor and several of them have her painting in it. That last meeting was at 9:10 and at 9:24 she has added words to the painting. She has added the words believe and beautiful and painted them on the painting. It's at 9:28 and 45 seconds. That is the last action that happens on J. Benny's phone. That last 12 picture was the reason. And then at 9:29 and 27 seconds, Jay Benning's phone calls her best friend Jackson. And Jay Jackson will describe to you that her best friend was talking, but she wasn't talking to her. So much so Isaiah immediately sent her two messages. Are you talking to me? What's going on? Because it was not normal. Her friend did not sound normal at all. She described her as sounding wavy the way she was talking. She had known her since she was six. She she knew it wasn't I'm I'm not feeling well, something like I feel sick. She described it that her friend sounded scared. Her friend was talking to Bla1 Taylor and Jake Benning said, "What did you do? I can't feel my legs. I can't walk straight. What did you put in my drink? I knew my drink tasted funny. What's in your hand? Show me. Show me your pocket. What did you put in my drink? I knew my drink tasted funny. you did it. [clears throat] She didn't want the baby. She was repeating what's in your hand. At one point, he responded back to her, "Nothing." During this 6 minute and 9 second call, Jay Benny is screaming out to her friend who's not responding to her. She hears her friend say to Blazer, "You're scaring me." and his response was, "You're scaring me." After 6 minutes and 9 seconds, Jade's phone disconnected the call. Right before that call disconnected, Jay, she was so confused as to what was going on, she merged her friend Beyonce Jones into the call so that he could hear it. And at the end, Jake was trying to speak but couldn't form words. He heard Jade but couldn't make out anything that she was saying. That call began at 9:21 and 27 seconds. It was 6 minutes and 9 seconds long. At 9:50 p.m. ENT arrived at the patient Jay Benning and she was pissed. Nay Jackson fed to her best friend's condo. And when she got there, Jay Benny was already in the back of the ambulance. They would not let her in to see her friend. She started jumping up and down so she could see in the little window and she saw her friend who was gray. Na Jackson, she goes to Vanderbilt ER. And Taylor, he goes there, too. He can call 911. She goes to Vanderbelt Hospital. She talks to medical staff. She hears him talking to medical staff and he is not telling them what Jake said. She tells them what she heard her best friend say. The first officers arrive an hour later and >> Okay, interjecting some of my thoughts real fast. Okay. So, obviously opening statements, they try to set up the personalities and the events and they don't have to only introduce straight facts. They can introduce feelings and things like that, too. Um, you know, basically building a character of people. And one of the things that I see the prosecution is very heavy about is up until basically uh Jade ended up calling her best friend, she was doing things that had nothing to do with why she would be ingesting cocaine. Like it didn't she didn't have as if she was wanting to actively harm her baby. Because when you hear the defense's opening statement, I feel like you'll understand why uh she's emphasizing that why I'm bringing that up. But um so she's on Pinterest, she's painting, she's cooking a favorite meal, everything. And everything that I just feel like, like she said, an expected mom would do, not trying to self not trying to harm the baby. Um when she when the prosecution pointed out that the cocaine was ingested orally as a juror, that would make me perk up. Uh because cocaine's not usually, from what I've seen, you don't take it orally. It's usually through the nasal passages or actually that's the only way I don't I don't know what people do with cocaine. So I'm not I'm not that's the only way I've seen it and that's that's on TV. Um so I think that that obviously points to it's it's put in there by somebody else because that's not even a normal way to take uh to take cocaine. And then obviously the pink drink and then her frothing at the mouth with a pink colored substance. And the damning damning thing is for sure going to be and thank God she did when uh Jade calls her best friend and has her on the phone so she can basically witness the conversation um of Jade basically like you know saying what' you put in my drink basically you know he poisoned her or she's accusing him of poisoning her. And I'm speaking in this way on purpose because I already know what happens at the end, but I'm just trying to going through that Carmelo Anthony trial taught me a lot. So, I'm just I'm trying to honestly listen to what the attorneys are actually saying. Um, I wonder what was important about Jade deleting her last picture. And it was mostly pictures of her sending the words she was painting and things like that or that she took not sending but that she took of the wall or wherever she was painting. Um there was something else. Oh, and I'm glad the best friend did make it to the hospital to tell the staff what she overheard as far as the conversation about what did you do? I can't feel my legs. Show me what's in your hand. Show me what's in your pocket. This drink taste I knew this drink tasted funny. Um, and then only thing Blaze is saying is nothing, which honestly, if you had nothing to do with it, it's time to already at minimum be on there with poison control, if not just 911. The it it's implied there's a lack of urgency. Um, with him being that's the only thing he's saying. And then when she says, "You're scaring me." And he repeats back, "You're scaring me." Um, I don't think he knew the best friend was on the phone. I think he would have acted I think somebody would have acted more if they knew somebody was on the phone that would be there after the fact of someone you expect to die or at least I don't know if he was honestly trying to allegedly kill her or just the baby because we'll hear more about the abortion part coming up in a minute. Um, but I'm glad her friend was there to tell the staff what she heard on the phone and I hate that her friend had to go through this. Eventually, we will obviously watch her friend's actual testimony and we'll continue with the prosecution's opening statement. >> Officer Viper, he hasn't talked to NJ yet, he approaches Blaze Taylor and ask him what happened. Another officer talks to him and then a detective talks to him. And when he talks to all three of those people, the scenario he gives is Jade started feeling bad. She threw up. I called my dad. My dad told me to call 911. And then I called 911. He tells officer Piper, the first officer, that the person on the 911 call who answered it told him it was an allergic reaction. You will also be presented with that 911 call. That 911 call where the oper operator says the standard, please give me address of your emergency. He says, "I don't know if Donald said. I'm with my friend. She's having an allergic reaction." He goes on to tell the 911 operator that she's must be having an allergic reaction to something she ate. He doesn't tell the 911 operator anything about what Jing said. And about 6 minutes and 25 seconds into that 911 call, which he called the staff 45 seconds before you call 911. It's a 30 second phone call. Now that the call was not a ton of time, but two to three minutes after that call ends, places a call with his dad, 30 second call. He calls 911, but again told all three people. He later tells all three law enforcement. She threw up. I called my dad. I called 911. 6 minutes and 25 seconds into the 911 call, he tells them, "I think she's from." He never tells 911 that Jake Benny is his girlfriend. He never tells them she's pregnant. The doctors at Manal, they were able to return spontaneous circulation, which means they were able to get Jake heart to beat again. But the damage that was done to her brain, she never regained any brain activity and she was on life support. March 6 of 2025, J Benny and her unborn baby girl on her 25th birthday. She was removed from life support. Dr. Aaron Carney with the medical examiner's office. She performed an autopsy on Jay Benny then her baby girl. Dr. Carney already knew about J. Benny before she ever died. She had already been contacted about her case because it was very unusual. And on February 28th, 2023, she requested Jade's first blood that it be retained and saved for testing. She performed the autopsy and she verified there was absolutely nothing wrong with Jake's baby. Had she remained alive, her pregnancy would have continued and had a baby girl. Dr. Carney will testify and tell you that the cause of Jade Finn's death was acute cocaine toxicity, a level higher than anything she has ever seen in any overdose death. You will also hear from another witness, Miss Apple. She dated Bla1 Taylor her freshman year of college. It was back in 2017. She was a freshman in college and she could be pregnant and she was not ready to be a mother at all. And she made the decision. He was with her. She made the decision to have an abortion. And Blaze Taylor went to those appointments with the city. They explained to her she had two options and he was in those appointments. They talked about it and she made the decision to have that abortion herself. Several months later, she will also describe to you a time when Blaze Taylor came to her in somewhat of panic. And he told her that while they were on a break, he had slept with another woman, Savior, and she was pregnant, and she was refusing to have an abortion. And Apple Demi will tell you that Blaze Taylor asked her if she could go to the abortion clinic and get the abortion pill so that he could put it in Xavier Rford's dream to cause an abortion without her knowing. >> He's got a lot piling up on him. And I Yes. Again, just in case you come in, I do I know the verdict's already. Um, but that was okay. Perk up time as a juror. We have that fact that the cocaine was ingest ingested orally. The phone call that the friend was on that heard Jade saying, "What did you do? I can't feel my legs. Show me what's in your hand. Show me what's in your pocket. This I knew this drink tasted funny. Um, you're scaring me. Let's see. The way that he didn't know Jay's address would make me perk up. Like, you know, even if you don't know it, know because I don't think they were dating anymore at the time, but it's in your phone. You put it in GPS or something like you know her address. So, you and then, oh, calling your dad before you call the police when you could just save the time and call the police. That would perk me up as a juror. um this the lack of urgency and then framing it already as something not as urgent as saying I think it's an allergic reaction um definitely is giving me delaying help on purpose trying to delay the time the MTS may arrive and then not understand the sense of urgency they may need to have then he finally she said later in the 911 call or something he says that she's throwing up um doesn't tell them her condition of being pregnant. And let me see here. I'm trying to I'm looking at my perkup notes. Oh, of course Apple. The prosecution saying Apple, his ex-girlfriend when they when she was a freshman in college, they dated. Apple herself had a voluntary abortion. Then while they were on a break, he gets another girl pregnant. And the other girl, not Jake, this other girl, doesn't want to have an abortion. And he actually goes to Apple as if this is normal and says, "Can you go to the abortion clinic and get an abortion pill cuz I need to basically slip it to the other girl." So now you've started a history of he's okay with involuntary abortions. like he's good with slipping things and things and drinks specifically based on what Apple will testify um per the prosecution's opening statement. So there there's a lot of perk up in the opening, but as a juror, you're supposed to keep listening and actually listen to the people presenting the evidence and the testimony, but those are my specific perk up moments so far. If I was a juror, I'm I'm looking out for things like this. >> Miss Diddy told him no. and also told him that wasn't even possible. And she will describe to you that he then began talking about what else could he put in her dreams that would cause an abortion. J last words, "What did you put in my I knew my buddy? You did this because you didn't want After you have heard all of the evidence, we will ask you to return a verdict of guilty on all four counts of being >> this one. I I got a well I got a chance to watch ahead obviously for prosecution and defense. I'm always interested in what angle is the defense about to come from to to cast doubt because their job they don't have to prove innocence. They have to cast enough doubt that the jury won't come to a guilty verdict beyond a reasonable doubt. So I was very interested in how she was going to come at this. I'll say my opinion and just kind of write down some of the things that stuck out to me. And I I will pause during her thing, but not right now. I won't I won't say anything right now. We'll look at some of it. As we talked about yesterday, this is a very very serious situation as you know. And so again, I thank you. I thank you for coming back. I thank you for coming yesterday. And I thank you for taking very serious and I know that because of the cancell but as you can imagine it's quite different. And you're going to hear over the course of this entire trial a lot of information. And if any of you are like me, it's easier to compartmentalize them so that as you hear the evidence, you can dump them in a bucket. And that way at the end of the trial, a week or so later, it won't be so difficult to remember what we and so what I want you to do is I want you to think about things before, think about during the incident, and after the incident. Think about things before the incident. And the incident is going to be February 25th of 2023, before the incident, during the incident, and after the incident. It will help. So, let's talk about before. Before, I want you to know who Bla1 Taylor was and who Jake was. Bla1 is the oldest of two children. He is the son of Ebie and Trooper Taylor. >> The circle up there, one of them says he had no history of drugs and alcohol, which for me means you're implying that he would not have just known where to readily get some cocaine is where I think that's that's where the defense go with me as far as there's no connection to him and drugs, but there were drugs found in Jay's system. Bla1 has a younger sister, Star Tail. Bla1's father is a football coach, a college football coach. And I've since learned that living a football coach's life on that level, it takes you around several places across the country. So, they traveled a lot. They lived in a lot of different places because dad worked in a lot of different places. and Bla1 got his education from the University of Arkansas where he graduated in three years with his master's degree in business administration. After that, he began working and he ended up after a few jobs worked for the Tennessee Titans as a pro scout. That is where here in Tennessee is where he meets Jay. But what's also important to know is that throughout Bla1's life, even when he played football, even when he was in college, he never drunk and he never did any drugs. No alcohol and no drugs ever in his life. I want to now show you who Jane is and was. She was a beautiful young lady. She was an aspiring chef and she too was from Arkansas and she moved to Tennessee after graduating from culinary school become a chef and work at Ernest Hideway grilling bar but different than clothes. Jay was involved with alcohol and Jade was involved with drugs and that is where they differ. All right. So hers is my client has no history of drugs and alcohol and yes Mindy is that we know of. Yes. Because you don't you never know but he never popped positive and apparently there's nobody around that ever said they saw him with drugs or alcohol. And then going to the character of Jade because she's trying to defend her client. It's but Jade had alcohol, had drugs, a history of it. She wouldn't have been new to this is I you know, so she's drawing a very much opposite like um not denying that there was cocaine in her body, but she's definitely going for the angle of how did the cocaine get in her body and it's not my client that got it in in her system. But what they are like as you heard just as Ba Blaze was casually. >> Okay, Jacqueline said, "Can I turn up the sound?" Okay, now this is YouTube, but I'm going to let me make sure it's maxed out on YouTube and then actually I'll turn caption on too for you. Um, and then let me know if this improves. I'm about to do my own manual volume of like how I'm hearing the YouTube video playing. So, let me know if this doesn't make a difference. That's that's YouTube >> young women. Jay Benny was casually dating young men. >> And so that is who they were before the incident. Now let's talk about Bla1 and Jade and their relationship. Bla1 and Jade met on Hinge, a dating app in January of 2022. They exchanged a few messages, but never really hooked up. It went into February of 2022 when Bla reached out to Jade, but yet she never returned the message. About a month later, she returns the message and says, "Oh, I've been busy, but you know, it's good to see." And then they went dead for a while. They didn't talk again until August of 22. And August of 22 is when they actually met up. August the 10th, they met and they had dinner. And after that, they began a relationship. They began casually dating each other, but they were not exclusive. He wasn't exclusive with her and she wasn't exclusive with him. You will hear that he dated other women and you will hear that she dated other men and they were both okay with that because that was the agreement that those two >> okay uh them both dating other people and they were casual. I feel like the defense attorney is introducing there's other options on who could have fathered the baby and her client may not have been too concerned about it because he wouldn't even have known for sure if he was the father. So he wouldn't have felt that strongly. You know what I mean? I that's what I feel like she's setting up. I'm not saying that that is Jay, what what happened with Jay, but that's what she's setting up. That there's other options on how she got pregnant besides her client. >> They had agreed that they would have a sexual relationship, but they would still date other people. And as adults, you will hear that that is what they decided to do. You will hear that they probably started having sex somewhere around August. Remember they met August 10th. So by August 23rd or so, you will hear that they probably began their sexual relationship. So from August 23rd until November 2nd, they started dating and to see each other, they would hang out. I believe that the restaurant where Jay worked was very close to Bla1's house and it was convenient because of their schedules for Jay to go over to Blaz's house after he got off work after she got off work and she was that's a really short dating time. So, they knew of each other from Hinge in January, but they didn't start dating until August, and they broke up by September. And then, per the prosecution's timeline, she found out she was pregnant. Oh, she found out she was pregnant late September. That's a very short time. And then, oh man, that's that's crazy. >> Like there would get up and go to work in the morning. She would sleep late and get her to leave whenever she got up. Now, you will hear sometime around November 1st of 22. Jay believes that she may be pregnant. And you will hear that she's having a conversation with Niger and what they're trying to figure out is who the father is. Ah, I was folding laundry when I listened to this. So, she explicitly says there's a conversation about it. She's not just implying. She's saying that Jade actually honestly had to talk to her BFF about who the possibilities were. Okay. I thought it was just implied. I missed that she actually said there's a whole conversation [clears throat] >> that they weren't sure if it was Blaz's child or if it was some guy named Dez child. And so they talked a bit and they talked about who she was having sex with the most. And it appeared that Niga thought that she was having sex with Dez the most. But apparently you'll be able to hear that ultimately Jade landed on Blaze and Na agreed and said, "Oh well, it must be Blazes." And you'll hear that it is at that time that Jade makes the decision that she's going to tell Blaze that she's pregnant with his child. >> I I see where she's trying to go. And we won't act like, you know, somebody might try to pass off a baby or somebody else's. Let's just say that's the that's the line they're going down. All you got to do is wait for the DNA test. That's not like you're stuck just because, oh, somebody verbally says this is your child. So, I I see where she's going as far as it was iffy, but this does not get you to now she's not here on this earth anymore. And so, you kind of deduct, you'll be able to deduct that she did talk to Blaze around November the 4th. And on November the 4th, it is clear that she tells Blaze, "This baby is yours and not." And you'll hear that it's true that Blaze at that time was not ready to beat up with the woman he met less than 90 days ago who was casually dating other people just like he was. This is more of a social judgment right now, but [clears throat] I would say since it seems that Jay's okay that she had gotten pregnant, so she's preparing to be a mommy. If Blae keeps with his history they bring up keeps not being ready to be a dad, why wouldn't he just use protection? I don't understand. Like there is a very it's not 100% but a lot of times it's 0% cuz they're not even doing it period. They're not using any protection period. I can see why she might not if she's okay with having a baby. But if you constantly abortion is very common in your conversation apparently with the people you're having sex with. Use a condom. >> And he did not want to go forward with the phrase. That's clear. He was 27. He wasn't married. He really didn't know her. And clearly, he suggested alternative methods. And he suggested it to her because it was something that she had agreed to do with someone else in the past. Okay, we're bringing up Jay had a previous abortion. Okay, that's Yeah, they are trying to tear her character up. >> But Jade wanted to keep this child. She wanted to give birth to Blazes. And so what you'll hear though is that they had a difference of opinion and that they were at an impass. And so clearly they had talked about it from November the 4th until November the 6th because on November the 6 you will learn that it was Jay who told Blaze clearly there's no agreement that we're going to come together and I'm not changing my mind. So what I suggest is you go your way, I go mine. You don't have to be involved with the baby if that's what you want to do. I will go on and I will love this baby with or without you. Just me guessing as this is coming up that uh because the prosecution brought up a text message he sent to a different woman saying I love you and he says something else. It sound like they said the name was I'm guessing cuz I got to I got to when they get on the stand I can get their name correct. But it phonetically it sounded like Cynthia Winford is who they mentioned that he texted saying I love you. um find out she around the time I think he found out that Jay wanted to keep the baby but we will see about that timeline again. Um, so two things m at first I thought it was he didn't he was like she's taking care she's taking advantage of me financially and I'm not about to be stuck with a baby financially which is still a crazy permanent thing that you've done cuz now that don't worry about it there's no income coming in now because you're going to go to prison but the other one was he didn't want this my guessing I'm guessing that he didn't want this other girl that he was texting around that time to find out that he had gotten another girl pregnant. Like he just didn't want a pregnancy option to exist because he was probably supposed to be being faithful to her and that would risk maybe their relationship. Again though, it's a permanent solution to a very temporary problem. >> Next appointment is on this day. If you want to be there, you can. But if not, this is the decision that I made. You'll hear that that's the decision that Jade made for herself. Now, what's important is that after that, what you won't hear is that Blaze was forcering her, forcing her, pressuring her, continuously calling her. >> Well, okay. Sorry. Auntie Natty said, "And maybe not well to you." Auntie Netty, I was welling what she was saying just now. But Auntie Natty said, "And maybe Jay felt guilty about her previous abortion and couldn't do it this time." That happens a lot, too. That does happen a lot. like, okay, it happened one time, but if if it happens again, I'm going to have this baby. That's that. Yes, that's a very viable option that that's why she chose to go through with this pregnancy. Um, what the prosecutor was saying just now, I'm going to go back. I'm just going to listen to it again. >> Her trying to force her to abort the state. You won't hear. You will hear that from the moment she made that decision for herself and told him, "You go your way and I'll go mine." He did not contact her. You will hear that he honored her wishes. You will hear that he gave her the space that she asked her. But then you'll hear that some time had passed. It would have been enough time to have passed to where she had passed the stage of where abortion would be a viable option. You'll hear that he told his parents and he told his parents that he met a young lady by the name of Jay. She was a chef and he was possibly going to have a child. >> All right. So we're reducing her his career is the big career NFL scout pro scout for the Tennessee Titans. Her career is she was a chef. It is very hard to do culinary school and to be a chef. Like it it takes a different type of your brain. But guess what? When you are really passionate about being a chef, you're kind of learning some chemistry stuff too. Like it's not just you put food on a plate like but she's doing the reducing the character. Make his character look here, hers look down there. Um, let me see. So, she was So, she's pointing out he wasn't pressed about her wanting to go ahead and keep the baby by emphasizing you will not find any text messages or calls of him pressuring her to continue to get an abortion and he was honoring her wishes, which would sound good, especially introducing that there also was a possible different father. But according to Apple, his ex from college, he has a history of trying to slip things into people's drinks to cause an abortion. So that that's I don't think that's going to drown that out that well. >> Here is that he then at that time after making that decision to tell his parents, he contacted Jade on December the 31st and she did she responded via text. I'm at work or what have you. And you'll see that on that very same day, she texted Na, her best friend, and said, "You won't believe this because she had a missed call from GL." And then ultimately on January 1st of 2023, they met up at a park. At Jade suggestion, she suggested, "Let's go to a park." And he honored her wishes again and met her at the park. And it appears that they sat in that park and they talked for almost five hours and they had made the decision that they were going to try to get to know each other so that if the baby was in fact Blazes because Blaze asked for a paternity test, which made sense, that they needed to know each other if they were going to have to co-parent this child And you will hear from Niga herself that it was at this time that Bla1 made every effort to do that to get to know her to participate. And so over the remember this is January 1st. So over the next month and a half, three weeks until February 25th, they dated, they saw each other, they hung out, they spent time together, and they were getting to know each other. All right. I have a piece of um just something that's making me think about this and it sucks that someone has to learn from the tragedy of someone else. But I but this has made me really realize that if you are somebody that is deciding to still continue to have a kid that the the man doesn't want, there's no more meeting up because now there's a risk of just I don't know anything. Just not saying all all of them would do that, but don't take the risk now. So like basically if you know he's like I would have been great had you not gone through with this pregnancy. Now it seems like it's you just shouldn't consume anything that's given to you by the person that didn't want you to have a child. Uh meet up alone with a person that didn't want you to have a child. We got to get to know each other. video call me I guess cuz I don't even know about meeting up at a place video call uh if you and then but one of the strong things the defense did do had some things not been in the prosecution's opening statement and the witnesses the prosecution is going to bring up a strong thing that she did bring up is the fact that if we didn't know the other stuff that was introduced that he was planning to try to get to know her to co-parent but all he but he did obviously want test which is not unreasonable it's not unreasonable to want paternity test. So, it's like basically I'm not trying to get rid of the baby, but now I've got to make it to where we can do this together since you have made this permanent decision. So, he would be with the how the defense is introducing it. He would be beyond her carrying the baby to term, the baby's going to exist and we're going to figure out this new future together. But with the phone call, the best friend overheard about what did you put in my drink? And then he wouldn't repeat it to the hotel staff that that was, you know, basically Jay thought he did put something in her drink or she he she was asking some very paranoid questions, nothing like that and then kept calling it an allergic reaction. I h I know it could probably happen, but I have not seen allergic reactions where people usually throw up. I've seen tears up your stomach the other way. That's what I've seen. Um and then also of course you got the hives, the swelling, stuff like that. I'm not saying throw up can't be because I'm I feel like a lot of things can be a symptom of all kinds of things, but that was that's my first time hearing an allergic reaction is what you're first going to think about when um someone's throwing up. But and and I know for him he he had no sense of urgency based on how the friend overheard the phone call and then calling his dad before he called 911. Um and she said she couldn't feel her legs too, I think. Yeah, just saying you can't feel your legs is enough for a 911 call first. Not calling anybody else. Um, let me see. [sighs and gasps] Let's see here. There was something I'm trying to think of anything else of the point the prosecutor was making. [sighs] We'll keep going. Now, you'll hear that Jay did have doctor's appointments and she did want Bla1 to attend. But what you'll hear is that he she told him about one appointment, which was in fact February the 6th, I believe, and she was going to find out the gender of the baby on that day. And you'll hear that she asked Bla1 to come and Bla1 said, "I need to check to see what's going on at work. don't know what's going on at work and if I can make it, I do. You'll hear he didn't make it. But you'll also hear that the next appointment she had was about 4 days late, but it was for a blood test. It wasn't necessarily another actual visit, the monthly permanent visit. That one was not until March 9th. And by that time, unfortunately, she had already passed. And you'll hear that during this time that they were split and when Blaze was dating Xavier, Jade, now knowing that she was pregnant, was dating other men as well. In fact, there were three other men that she was dating in December. >> That doesn't matter. That's definitely just a character assassination attempt because the baby's already existing now. Um, now I hope she's using protection because the health of the, you know, well, I hope well I hope that women that are pregnant are using protection if they choose to continue sexual activity with someone else. um just in general. But her dating men while she's pregnant might be distasteful to many, but does not have anything to do with his motivation of why he didn't want that baby and his history of always, you know, trying to get the woman to have an abortion and things like that. >> And you'll hear that. We know that for sure because she was sending naked pictures to them in December. And there were three men, three different men that she sent naked pictures to from December the 3rd through almost towards the end of December. So yes, you will hear that they both were dating different people. Now we'll go to February 25th of 2023. Now, what's also important to know before we get there, you'll find that Jay was involved with drugs prior to the day that this happened, prior to the day that she was diagnosed with acute cocaine toxicity that caused her death. You'll hear that she was involved with marijuana. You'll hear that she was involved with aol. You will hear that she was involved with the weed cartridges. I think they call it resin. You'll hear that she was involved with mushrooms. That she would take mushrooms. And you will hear that she also drank a lot until she was drunk often times. In fact, you'll hear that during maybe a day or so before she and Isaiah was having this conversation about who was the father and it was Glazes that she was inviting Niga to share mushrooms with her. And you'll hear on the same day that she learned that she was permanent that Niga was asking her to call Dez to reach out for some drugs. Fast forward to February 23rd. on this day during the incident you'll hear that >> sorry this is the strong part about where I was seeing in the pro the defense's opening statement that it was very much this is where that cast reasonable doubt cast reasonable doubt cast reasonable doubt keep the jury from coming to a verdict to uh guilty beyond a reasonable doubt because again she emphasized blaze no history of alcohol and drugs jade history of drugs and she's laying them all out there, the resin, the aderall, the mushrooms, drinking alcohol. And then she puts that close timeline on it too that there's still conversations about these things. And then of course her saying uh Jade having a friend with her conversation with her best friend asking them her to call Dez, which would have been the other possible potential dad um for drugs. And I wonder now just personal wise I you know health of a baby that's not great. That's that's not great at all to consume any of those things. Now what she didn't name was cocaine and that's what was found in system number one. So there was no conversation apparently that they retrieved where Jay was saying are you can you get cocaine? I heard resin aderall mushrooms and alcohol. That's what I heard. And and maybe you know actual marijuana. not good for the health of a baby. I'm not arguing that. But Jay wasn't asking for cocaine from what I'm hearing. So cocaine would have been foreign to be introduced to her from the history because cuz guarantee you if they could have found out she got cocaine on her own sometimes, it would have been said in the opening statement. So that's that's the thing. The the lack of saying cocaine is also something Jade parttook in. I'm like, "All right, but this was cocaine, though. She might have partaken in other things that she felt comfortable with, but it wasn't cocaine. [clears throat] Um, and then of course the amount. Someone that's familiar with drugs, they're not going to all of a sudden spike that high on the amount they take that can kill them on one instance. Um, and it was and it was the concentration. So, it wasn't like they now they did say they found I think they're going to say they found traces of fentanyl in it too, which sometimes unfortunately stuff is laced with that and then you end up overdosing because you don't know it has it in there, but I'm not hearing that Jade ever had a conversation about cocaine. Um, okay. I'll keep playing. I'll come back with my other comments. >> Did spontaneously plan a date night with Blair where she was going to cook, where she wanted to do the paint and sip. I believe Na calls it painting with the twist I believe it is and that's the in where you paint and drink and have alcohol but according to Naa they weren't going to have any alcohol because remember even Naa is going to tell you that she knew Blaze didn't. And so as she planned this date spontaneously she reaches out to Bla1 around noon that day. He didn't know that she was going to call him and says, "Hey, what are you doing tonight? Will you be free?" And he says, "Yeah, what do you want to do? What's what's going on?" It was a little cold that day. So, he wanted to know what did you want to do? What should I wear? She says, "Dress comfortably and come to the house around 7." And he says, "Sure, I can do that." Now, what do you do? When she was planning this date night, she was planning it with Na. What should I cook and and what should we do? And aa says, "Well, I want some chicken alfredo, so why don't you put that?" And Jay says, "Okay, that sounds good." Now, what's important to know is that Jay was a very ambitious young lady and she had her own business, JTP, which was like a small table. And when she would cook, you'll learn that some of her food would be infused with marijuana. There's the drug bring up again. So, catering company, some food was infused with marijuana. Um, Jacqueline, you're asking, so when he spiked her drink, it left her unable to call 911. I'm totally obviously we're all about, we're all speculating here, so the whole thing is we're obviously I'm speculating. I'm thinking her thought process was number one, I don't think she had the foresight to know she might die, but she might she felt herself probably getting violently ill and something was wrong and she needed a witness. Witness was probably maybe primarily in her mind and her best friend probably the most recent call. And I know 911's easy to get to too, but if you don't if you're not thinking I'm in an I'm in a very very bad emergency or maybe I don't even know how your brain goes once you think once it's in danger, it's going to make a couple choices. It's and they say you fall back on what's your most familiar with. So she called her best friend. So she might have because you also talk yourself into talking yourself out of your gut feeling that I'm I'm not overreacting, but maybe she thought slightly she was overreacting. So it's like, let me call my friend so at least somebody hears this phone call. That's my guess for her not going ahead and just immediately calling 911 for herself on her behalf. >> In fact, you'll hear that her chicken Alfredo she would sell would be infused with marijuana and cookies and brownies and things of that sort. So, she makes the decision to have this date night with Bla1, and she and Niga talk about it. And then at that point, Na says, "Well, I want some chicken Alfredo, too." And Jay says, "Well, I'll put you some up for tomorrow." But Na says, and now we're in the bucket of during just so they says, "Well, no, I want to come tonight." Even though she's planning a date night with Bla, she's now inviting herself into Jade's statement. >> I don't understand why that's being emphasized, but okay. Um, Auntie Natty said, "I think she butt dialed her friend." The timing of it, I I got butt dialed today, so it that is very very possible, especially with her being the top of the call list. But it it it feels so intentional that she that her best friend was on the phone at that pivotal moment. It feels very intentional. I don't know though cuz Butt Dallas is just as as probable as well. And so she shows up. I would say we know around 7:22 she sends a message. I'm on my way. And when she gets there she brings a friend Kee and she tells Jay I want to uh bring Keiante too because he wants some too. So, we're both going to come to your date and they show up and they stay, but not for long. But what you'll hear is that when they showed up, Blaze invites them to stay. Hey, why don't you guys stay and play cards? And he had a deck of Uno cards that he was playing with. And he says, "Let's play Uno." And then he asked, "Well, do you guys know how to play spades?" And Isaiah says, "No, I don't know how to do things." And so he says, "You guys should stay. Hang out." But Na says, "Well, no, I don't want to intrude. We'll leave." And so we know that by 8:03 she was gone because >> before she continues, I feel like that's important to the defense to point out that he asked well the friend can testify if he did ask her or not, but he asked if they to play cards because she wants she's trying to point out that um he was so comfortable with them being there cuz he didn't plan to do anything nefarious. He would have been fine had they stayed the whole night because he didn't have any plans to he wasn't trying to do anything to harm her. That's where I feel like the defenseless angle's coming from. If he had something horrible planned, why would he prolong it and say, "Yeah, y'all should stay and hang out." But you also could look at it as to not look suspicious and try to rush them out. You kind of, you know, try to keep them comfortable. Don't suspect anything, you know. But I feel like that's her angle that she was coming from on why he was like, "Will you play Uno or Spades with us?" Uh, it could be divine intervention. I still feel like for me, for me, my brain already locked in on she called her friend on purpose as a witness, but it could be divine intervention. >> She sent this text for spending that 20 minutes or so with Jay and Blaze. That was a cute interaction. What you won't hear is that she sent any text as if there was anything nefarious going on. You will hear that she describes that moment as a cute interaction and you will hear that J and and cops that abuse their spouses act really nice on the outside and their spouses living in terror or whoever you know like the victim doesn't get the same side that everybody else gets to someone. So the fact that he looked normal and didn't do anything yet doesn't mean he's not capable of doing something. But I I know this is the defense. So I'm just I'm just I'm listening to her. I'm thinking I'm sitting there. It's like if I'm a juror, what am I thinking right now? And are you just again just trying to do a character assassination of one to make the other one look like they could never? Responds and says, "Yes." Bla1 says, "We should hang out again or you guys should have faith." And Nigeria responds, "Well, no, I did not want to intrude on your date now, so we left." Fast forward to about 9:28. So this interchange went on from about 8:03 until about 8:12. Then you'll know about 9:28. What you're going to find is that Jade and Blaze, specifically Jade, was taking selfies with Blaze. And you'll find that the selfies were them kissing and laughing and joking and having a great time. Let me tell you now, if I'm trying to be smart, what he did was dumb. It's stupid because he already has a history. And who else are they gonna Come on. Come on, dude. But if you're trying to plan something bad, it the more evidence you can make to say, "Oh, let's take a selfie and blah blah blah. Look how happy we were that night. I didn't mean any harm to her." Like, that would help. That would HELP YOU. YOU WOULD definitely look happy, especially premeditated. You have a plan. So yeah, we're going to take some pictures and look like we're we're cuddled up. There's no reason I could do this. We I was good with her. We worked everything out. >> See those photos and you'll see that they were taken from Jay's phone. But then less than a minute later, you'll hear that Na gets this call and the call I want to make sure that I say it right. The call less than 60 seconds later, Na describes it as it was the most wimpier wimpiest voice I've ever heard. Those were her words. The scariest thing I've ever heard. She was freaking out. I never heard anything like it. She was fighting for her life. It was as if she was in danger. She says that she overheard her saying, "You put something in my drink. What did you put in my tray? But what you'll learn is that when Jane is making these accusations per Niga that Na sends a text back saying, "Are you talking to me?" So when Jade is making these accusations, Niga's response is, "Oh, are you talking to me?" You won't hear that. She says, "What are you talking about? Who are you talking to?" You're going to hear that her response to those allegations are, "Are you talking to me?" >> But that just means she might can't logically think, "Oh my god, let me find out who's in the room with her or whatever." That doesn't mean that she I don't know what she's doing right here. Like, are is she trying to say like the friend may have slipped something in into Jay's drink, but that's just kind of what they do. Like cuz if she doubles back to that phone call that that um they had the best friend and Jay had a conversation about calling Dez to get drugs then I think maybe she's trying to link it to that was the drugs that they got and then they consume cocaine on purpose because she's I don't otherwise I don't understand why it matters why she didn't say the exact script of who's in the room with you. Like I would freak out if one one of my friends call me and that's what I'm overhearing. I don't have common sense in that moment. I'm freaking out. Like there's no rhyme or reason to what I'mma do. I'm hoping I'm going to also try to find somebody to so I can keep her on the line and then also find someone to try to call emergency services. But I don't know what I do if I'm actually hearing my best friend since I've known since six years old freaking out and I've never heard her sound that way before. Within that moment, as they're describing, it was as if she was in danger and she was alone her Na in the apartment with the man that Naa says was trying to kill her best friend. Na never calls 911. No, instead she said this that as Jade's voice was whimpering and going down and as if she was going to pass out that Jade had enough voice to say call Kee. Call Keonte on the three. >> Probably because Jade doesn't know she's about to die though. She's she's just this. I don't know. you you freak out and you want to talk to somebody that you know like I don't I think 911 would have been first had she known I'm about to die. Um, and then also though, sometimes if people think they're about to die, they're going to talk to the people that they remember first or know the most or like I could see her trying to call her mom and dad if she knew she was going to die too and not 911 because I think when sometimes people feel a certainty of things, they're just trying to talk to whoever they last feel is important and it's they they start knowing it's the last time they're going to talk to them. I don't necessarily think she thought she was going to die, though. I think she just wanted to have her friends know she was freaking out though. Something's not right. But yeah, that's so it's it's on Jay for not calling 911 apparently. Okay. She doesn't know what was introduced into her drink. She doesn't know if it's just I don't know. Like it's just so many reasons. I I wish that was her first call, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense that that wasn't her first call. Yeah. if it was her first time then she's experienced aderall. I don't know if because I know aderall is an upper as well. So I don't know if some of that I don't know like we just don't know but I know this this is what the defense has to do. They have to >> they're going to find is that Naja says she really didn't know really didn't know. But according to Niga Jade wants her to call Keon. You won't hear her say that Jade wanted her to call 911 or call the father. If you want her to call the guy she doesn't really know on the three. And did she say that Jade texted Naja to call Keonte or did she say that Jade told her over the phone to call Kee? I want to know. >> Na said she doesn't. And after she calls the gentleman, Kee on the three-way, what you'll hear about Kee is that he will tell you, "Yes, I was on the call." And her voice was Jay's voice wasn't really, you know, I couldn't really make things out, but I didn't hear the things that Na I didn't hear those things. And what you'll also find is that with all the danger that Na described, all the fear and everything that her best friend was going through, Kee didn't call 911 either. What you're going to find is that there was only one person that night that called 911. >> Ah, okay. All right. Close that loop for me. She's diminishing that anyone else, nobody else cared enough or thought it was an emergency enough to call 911. But the one that's most suspected and on trial for poisoning her drink is the only one that thought I should call 911. But he didn't think he should call 911. He called his dad. Then the dad told him to call 911. [clears throat] So that's still not the same. Like he didn't think it was that much of an emergency either. He called a family member. Like she called friends that are like family to her. So you kind of I don't know that's not that's not that strong. Even if it even this it's not enough for me. But I'm just saying even if that's where she's going, he did not call 911 as on his phone first. He called daddy because Jane didn't call 911 either. You'll hear that with all of this medical emergency, all of these things that were going on with this young lady, there was only one person who called the police, who called for help, and that was Blaze. And you'll hear the 911. I promise you. And you'll have the opportunity to hear everything that he said and everything that he did. But you won't hear one 911 call between Jay, Niga, or Kee. And you'll hear the panic and bl you'll hear where he's running around trying to find the address because he didn't know the address by heart that way, just like Na didn't know the address because later you'll find that the police asked Nija for the address, too. And remember, she had just been there earlier and she had to call the address. Some of this some of this is compelling if we didn't know of his history of trying to have women have involuntary abortions according to testimony and um what was the other thing? Oh, duh. The the friend being on the call, hearing him not really appropriately respond to someone saying, "What did you do and what's in your hand? What's in your pocket? I can't feel my legs." He's cuz he's there looking at her. He's there with her. And you hear that eventually EMS showed up. And what's very important to know is that when EMS shows up and they get in that apartment, apartment 107, Jay was in a significant or stable enough condition that they did not perform CPR inside of the apartment. So you'll hear that whatever stress, whatever condition was in, it wasn't significant enough for EMS to begin CPR. >> Maybe not CPR, but the prosecution said she also um what did she say about she said something about the pulse? Um postless, I think is the word she used. I think she said Jade was postless. So, just because they didn't perform CPR doesn't mean they didn't think it's an emergency. Maybe they thought it was a different way they had to handle her not having a pulse. That doesn't But lack of CPR does not mean lack of emergency and lack of uh something life-threatening. And those medical professionals will have to tell you that if it was dire enough that way, they would have had to give her CPR right then and there. They will tell you that. They will tell you that if the stress and condition that that young lady was in was so dire, they would not have waited to get her CPR once they got her on the back. So then you'll hear that Blaze was the one who ran out and met the ambulance outside and showed them where the apartment was [clears throat] because the apartment is such that you're really not going to know where the apartment is unless someone kind of directs you. So you'll hear that he went out and did that and you'll hear that he never went back upstairs after EMS got when EMS left he did too. And by then you'll hear that Na was there and she too followed the ambulance instruction. >> He would definitely leave and go with them because the performance started. The performance started at the time he called maybe his dad but definitely 911 because you know those calls are recorded. So, of course, he's going to follow because now you performed on the call for the witnesses and now you got to perform for the the EMT witnesses. Yeah. And when they get to the hospital, it was Blaze who showed up and helped Nate apart. And so they go into the hospital, they rush Jay in. She's in critical condition by this time. And Vanderbilt is doing everything they can to give her the services that they need. that she needs. And you'll hear that Na in the hospital starts with these allegations. This is where Na starts telling the social worker there at Vanderbelt. Bla1 did something to her. Bla1 put something in her drink. And these are the things that she was saying. And the investigation begins. And now we're at after something with the wrong word. [clears throat] And then you'll hear that while they're at the hospital, Bla1 never leaves. Murderers also do that too. They got to make sure the victim don't make it. They will go and stay with the victim that they created as a victim. Another thing I want to introduce is that I'm with you. This is my core point. MJ, I don't think Jade thought it was as severe as I'm going to die. But I think there's a lot of things between something's wrong and I'm going to die. She might have thought cuz they were just getting to know each other again so they could try to co-parent. And maybe also she thought at least they were going to start dating for real with the whole pain date setup. She might have thought he slipped under her drink to take advantage of her just as like a date grape thing. There's a lot of things in between. Something's in my drink. I don't feel right and I'm going to totally die. Now, I want someone to hopefully, even if that's the case, hopefully they try to call 911 first. But I can totally see someone calling their best friend like, "Hey." And and again, I um she didn't talk to her on the phone, but she had her on the phone while she was accusing Blae of what did you put in my drink? So, yeah, but there's there's a lot of spectrum in between just I'm going to die and I need to call 911. >> Stay there the entire time. When her mother calls, he answers the phone. When the police questions him, he answers the questions. When another police officer questions him, he answers those questions. When another police officer answers him, ask questions him, he answers those questions. You'll hear that he cooperated with every authority. >> That's very creative wording that he answered the questions he was asked. But the thing is he omitted bringing up something that's very relevant about how she said, "I can't feel my legs. What did you do to me? What's in your hand? What's in your pocket?" Cuz both could be true. He answered the questions he was asked and made sure he didn't address the other stuff that they never asked him. >> And not one time while he was at the hospital being questioned, being accused of being the person who caused this did he ask for a lawyer. Did he exercise his right to the fifth amendment? Not one time. He did what he thought you will hear that he was supposed to do. But what you'll hear with Niga is that at some point during the night, she's questioned as well. And you'll hear that those police officers tells her, "We need to talk to this Keonte guy, too obvious reasons." And you'll hear that Kee, although he comes to the hospital, he meets Na in the parking lot. And you'll hear that when police officers have told her, "We need to talk to this guy." She doesn't alert the police officers that he even showed up. She doesn't tell them that, "Hey, that witness to my best friend's medical episode. He's in the parking lot. Come to the store." >> You see how she made sure not to say my best friend's murder, she she stuck with medical episode. I I see you. I see you. Instead, you will hear that she talks to him and then he leaves without talking to anyone, without giving anyone the side of his story of what happened. You'll also hear that she left again. And what's important to know is this, that you'll hear by this time that apartment based on Niga's allegations is a crime scene. and that even though it crimes and that even though officer Fish who was one of the initial responding officers told Jay Ben stepmother and mother, someone Niga was in constant contact with throughout the night as you can imagine. Nobody in that apartment, nobody out. It's shut down. It is a crime scene. There should be no one in that place. We need to go in there and figure out what happened. You're going to hear that Jade's friend Lauren Weber, Nigette's friend, Lauren Weber, and another young lady went inside that apartment. And that even though they weren't supposed to go in there and touch it, that she removed items out of that apartment. She locked it up and then she brought her uh Jade's purse and ID to the hospital. And you're going to hear that when the police officers hear this and they learn that some people have entered this crime scene that they said that that crime scene was contaminated. >> And I can acknowledge that's that's definitely not a good choice. That's a very irresponsible choice. Um again, this is so compelling without his without the other things. And I'm I'mma wait. I'm waiting on witnesses because I did not This is me seeing on day one, you know, like this is my day one. So, I'm want to watch it the whole way through hopefully. And it will it's gonna take a while cuz you know got to piece it together. But that would be actually pretty compelling. Let's just say in a in an Austin universe, the friend meant her wrong meant meant for something to happen to her and the friend put the cocaine in her drink and now you're going contaminating the crime scene that they told you not to walk in. That's a compelling argument. The defense's job is to just cast doubt. And she's she's trying. She is really trying to cast doubt. You'll hear that law enforcement says that themselves. And then you're going to hear that Niger and three more other people went inside that apartment with gloves on and removed crucial and kept it for 24 hours before they turned it over to the police. I have to go back because MJ, you said such a good comment. I missed what she kept for over 24 hours. So, I'mma go back. Um, but MJ said he was setting her up, telling y'all he just thought she would misaryry. I I agree. I think he only thought she would misaryry. It wasn't to actually kill her. It was to make her have an involuntary abortion. I'm with you on his intent was just the baby not making it. The defense tried to muddy the waters to confuse the jury. Yep. Yep. And that's what they're always going to try to do. That is their job. That's what they're always going to do. Was contaminated. You'll hear that law enforcement says that themselves. And then you're going to hear that Na and three more other people went inside that apartment with gloves on and removed crucial evidence and kept it for 24 hours before they turned it over to the police. I can't wait to hear Naja's testimony cuz I know there's going to be a different explanation on why she went in there with gloves on and did this, but I don't thank God it it didn't hurt it so much that they couldn't get to the conclusion of what happened. But that is risky cuz you also could have maybe this could have been a mistrial. Maybe this could have been I don't know. That's not good to do. But I do want to hear her reason on why did they do it. won't make it necessarily probably right, but I do want to know what happened. They gave it to her mother evidence of the crime. They grabbed it, removed it, and kept. You're going to hear not one time when Na was speaking to those police officers did she tell them, "Hey, I'm about to go over here to Jay's house, you know, the crime scene, and we're going to go over there and help you guys out and remove evidence for you. She never says that. She never tells them that. They have to find that out. Jade's mom. You're going to also find that Na had Jade's phone during this time and had gone into the phone. And we know that it couldn't have been Jay because by now Jay was in critical condition in the home and was manipulating through the phone. And so you hear that at some point Raja leaves the hospital but Glaz is still there and he doesn't leave until Jay's mother gets there and that you'll hear that he helped her find the parking space too. He ran out there and said you save the Parkinson as well. You know how desperate you have to be as defense that in your opening statement, you have to emphasize and point out that he's your your um defendant, your client saved a parking spot in the hospital parking lot. I when attorneys are more sure of themselves, they don't go that in the weeds about saving a parking spot. That definitely screams I'm desperate to tell y'all he's a good person. Good person. Good person. And look over here. over here >> and you'll hear about doubt it's over. Jay is in critical condition. She's pretty much on life support. She had suffered a significant brain injury as a result of losing oxygen to the you'll hear that there was in fact sorry laboratory evidence the blood that you're going to hear a lot of stuff about. And yes, you're going to hear that there was an awful amount of cocaine in her system, but what you're going to hear is that the integrity of those vials of blood and urine were such that results of those blood tests does not make sense. The experts are going to have to tell you that it was too much cocaine for Jake to take on her own and too much cocaine for Blaze to have slipped in a drink and her not notice. Depends on what kind of pink drink. Was it a frothy pink drink? Is cocaine tasteless? I don't know. Um, those are questions I do have though because what consistency was the drink? cuz you can't you could slip a little fine powder in some things depending on the consistency of the liquid and and the makeup of it. Did it have sparklies in it? Did it have some kind of whipped cream on top? Did it or you know and who fixed the drinks? There's questions I need to know. Who brought that particular beverage? It seems like she's saying Jade was the one in charge of getting whatever beverage it was non-alcoholic or alcoholic. And then if it's super sweet, that's gonna cover up a lot too. Sugar will mask a lot of things. Um, it's not just straight water. So, I do want to know what did the drink look like? Who fixed the drink? And was there a point that she had to leave her drink by itself? There's a lot of questions with it. >> But you're going to hear there's so many issues with the way the lab dealt with that that there's not a medical professional alive who would rely on those results. They're going to have to tell you that. But what they are going to have to tell you is this. As a result of those toxicology results is that NJ system was coefficient. >> To me, if this was me, yes. If she was alive and I just found out she knew she was pregnant, she was drinking alcohol. I'd be like, "Oh, that's a bad that's a bad mom. There's there's so many things that can go wrong with the fetus when you're drinking alcohol and you know you're pregnant and all this other stuff." I would be judging, but she was not trying to overkill if she even did drink alcohol. She was not trying to get like drink to alcohol poisoning. And then also, in my opinion, she did not put cocaine in her beverage. Like that's No, it's just not. Even if you could say bad choices because you're still drinking alcohol while you're pregnant. No, no, no. >> That there is no other way the metabolite cocaine can appeal. No way. You can't have taken alcohol at 7:00 and then did a bump of cocaine at 9 and you form cocaine. You're going to hear that you can't take a drink of alcohol at 7:30 and take a bump of cocaine at 8. It has to be at the same time that coethylene is present in Jade's sister. >> That sounds like more of a plan though. Premeditated. She's already said she wants to have a painting sip pain twist or paint pain painting sip with a twist or whatever. So that means he already would know alcohol would be present some kind of way. So then let's just say that is a thing. You wouldn't have got this response without cocaine and the alcohol. Well, the alcohol might have been pre-present from her planning the date of paint and sip with a twist and then he brought the cocaine. Is this it's still possible. It's not that doesn't mean that she intentionally mixed these two substances together. I thought in the opening statement of the prosecution, the prosecution said there was alcohol in her system, but once we get to the medical examiner's testimony, I just want to know what was in the toxicology report that way. That way, I'm not guessing because I don't know. But I feel like I feel like it would say she had alcohol in her system in an opening statement. I thought the prosecution said it to go ahead and get ahead. Yes, she had alcohol in her system. >> Hear that it was at level such that it would have had to been some time had that passed for it to be there in the fashion. You're going to hear that at the end of this that the medical examiner, Dr. Dr. Aaron Carter performed the autopsy on J and what you'll learn is that a autopsy is what they say is that it's not done in a fact. And what that basically means is you can't just look at the body to determine what happened. You have to factor in surrounding circumstances as well. And what you'll learn is that there are two things that the medical examiner is responsible for doing. determining the cause of death and the manner of death. >> Before [clears throat] we go, cause of death, manner of death, because she's got to introduce other possibilities on how Jade passed that didn't have to do with a homicide. Um, Pette said, "Remember cocaine with finnel is tasteless and drinks. Finnel cannot be identified by sight, smell, or taste when it is mixed into other powders or substances substances." That's what I'm saying. I agree with you, Pette, that I don't think cuz the [clears throat] the defense attorney is saying she with the amount of cocaine it would have taken, she would have noticed it in her drink, but what was the consistency? What was the composition of the drink? Because I also pictured that this was tasteless and you know, and I know y'all said uh somebody said pink lemonade. I don't know if they did they say pink lemonade in the opening statements because I know y'all have watched ahead. So, I'm just going with what she's going with her opening statements right now. But um what was I gonna say? Lord. Yeah, I'm I'm stuck on what kind of pink drink was it? But because how do you know the amount of cocaine in there could not have gone undetected? Like how do you know that the cause of death is going to be the medical issue that caused you to die? And the manner of death you'll learn be only five things. It can be natural causes, accidents, it could be undetermined, it could be homicide, and it could be suicide. It's going to always fall in one of those boxes. And because it's not done in a bad, you have to look at the surrounding circumstances before you come to the conclusion as to which bucket spot landed. And what you're going to see is the medical examiner, the medical professional, the person that we rely on to come to a conclusion professionally as to what happened in regards to the manner of death for Miss Bennett. you're going to hear that even she could not come to the conclusion of homicide. >> Well, when it comes to a trial, yes, you definitely need the professional to examine the toxicology report. Examine what they examine and you hope they come to a concrete conclusion. But but just because that one professional does not come to a concrete conclusion, you still have the totality of the evidence that could still come back to homicide. Like it is yes, that would have been even more against her client had they been able to do something besides undetermined. But just because she couldn't do that, we're we're about to go through everything else though. the order of his phone calls, the phone call overheard, the history of him asking about abortion or how to cause abortions. Like there's there's there's other things and doing it secretly, too. Like, you know what I mean? So, yeah. So, yeah. No, that's not enough that it can't have happened that way just because it's undetermined. That's not the only thing. But I know again her job is to cast doubt. And homicide just means you died at the hands of another. Doesn't necessarily mean a crime occurred. It just means that you die at the hands of another. You're going to hear that Dr. Carney is going to get on that sand. Remember we talked about that's where your evidence will come from and she's going to have to tell you I cannot rule this a homicide. And the reason she's going to tell you she cannot rule this a homicide is because of circumstances surrounding this death. and that she bullied undetermined. >> All right. And Jacqueline, I'm purposely MJ watched it, so she could put in the chat um how did they determine, but I'm only here with the opening statement so far. Um and I'm trying to stay on the real time part of it and not go too much with what y'all already know just as a it's almost like this is an exercise for me, too. So, I'm trying to stay with what I'm hearing out loud that I'm being introduced to right now from this video, from this live stream. Yeah, I'm I agree with you. He didn't ask for a lawyer yet, but had not yet passed away, right? You asked for a lawyer a little too early. He might thought that would look suspicious, you know? So, yeah, that doesn't say anything that he didn't feel guilty is that I'm not going to ask for an attorney until I see that she passes away, too. Again, I also agree that I don't think he was trying to kill her. He was trying to terminate that pregnancy in my that's my opinion. What that basically means is that she could not come to a conclusion. Now, you will hear from Apple Dingle and Apple is someone that raised David when he was in college some six years before this happened. And you'll hear that Apple is from Arkansas, Jade is from Arkansas, Na is from Arkansas, and a friend named Arian Jordan is from Arkansas. And you'll hear that Arian heard about Miss Benny's death. She heard about the allegations that it was Nigel who was saying it was Blaze X and that within days of Miss Benny's death. She told Apple and you're going to hear that even though Apple says that Blae was trying to poison Xavier Win, she never goes to the police right then and there and says Blaze was trying to kill someone else. Just like this situation, you're going to hear with moss before she did that, but you're going to hear a lot of other things, too, about you're going to hear that just as recent as April of this year that on her to-do list was to put Blaze in prison. And she posted, >> "Okay." Wow. Wow. Wow. Did not expect this statement to come out. Okay. goal from April of this year. So like maybe on the calendar or something. So April 2026, she some she has somewhere in her phone put Blaze in prison. I'd like to know can the forensic tech the technical forensic person can they look up the date of entry for this? Even if they could see this is why see this this this compelling this is compelling for casting doubt. um why would she put that? And if she did put that, why invite him over the night unfortunately um of her demise? Like because she obviously would have had to put that in there prior to this paint and sip date. So I'm wondering where did this come from? Did was that something that she raged out about before and then didn't feel that way? But it's still set set for April. Or what what caused that? Like I want to know. Like I I just want to know cuz before I just want to know. I do because people are complex and it could it could still be that someone doesn't like somebody or they want to have that's a crazy get back, but you know what I mean? Like people are not just this one plain way. So, I do want to know what happened to cause that entry to be put in there. What was the timeline of the entry being put in there? Oh, I want to know so much about that. >> You're going to hear that there were times that she felt, let me back that up. There are times that she made other false allegations against. And one of those allegations is going to be that while she was out of her apartment one day, Blaze had snuck in somehow when he was living in Tennessee and she was in Arkansas and moved her bed over or moved her furniture over a few inches and then left and she called the police to >> was it false? Was it paranoia? Or did he actually do it and she stopped pursuing it? Cuz it's all those there's options on this now. lay snuck in my apartment and moved my furniture to the court and just to miss it. And that you'll hear that in spite of all of that that she still said Blaze was the best thing that ever happened to her when it was appropriate to do so. And you'll hear just two weeks before this incident that she was on social media trying to determine who Glaze was dead. You'll learn that that is not. So, I don't want you to lose focus at the end of this trial. I don't know. I think she losing focus. Okay. Nobody knew she was going to die. They knew he did something like poison her. The stuff they removed was not that critical. The lawyer's lying. And we'll we'll see. We're going to get there too with I'm sure she's going they're going to be directly asked, "What did you bring?" or "What did you take from there? Why did you take it?" And I'm looking forward to getting to that part. Um, this is interesting. But we had just especially because what, two nights ago, we just watched the the the stalking stuff and the dude that stalked his ex until he ended up actually killing her. So moving moving a bed a few inches is not impossible to me. I don't I want to know does he have a history of stalking anybody else in his dating history? because that's the kind of things that does make someone sound paranoid. It makes them cra it makes them sound crazy. Gets them set up for a possible Baker act. It's not impossible that that a mind game could have been played, but it's also not impossible. She was getting paranoid because either other things were happening or she thought they were happening because ultimately he did do something. He wanted her to misaryry on purpose or terminate the pregnancy on purpose without her knowing. So, it's not like there's his hands are clean because we got to this point and you know, we see where we're at, especially after the verdict. So, you know, but all right, >> I want you to do what you promised you would do. that you will look at the facts of this case based on the allegations before you and not things that the state throws in to give you a red herring to put on your heart said focus on the evidence about whether or not that at the end of the day much like Dr. the corner. Did you hear enough evidence not whether it's sad and tragic because it is that a young lady lost her life because I also want you to know and I almost failed to forget to tell you this that there was also pent found in this not just that at the end of the trial in the same way that Dr. cannot rule this a homicide. You can't realistic. >> That's not true. They could still rule it a homicide from the totality of the evidence. That doctor couldn't because they're limited to their scope of what they can examine, but the jury can still rule it a homicide because it's going to be other things introduced and not just relying on just the autopsy. to lay your head down at night, get to the conclusion that it was Blaze Taylor who caused because when you think about before, during, and after, because whenever it's a circumstantial case, that's what you have to do. that there will nothing there's nothing that will lead you to a conclusion that beyond a reasonable doubt that it was blaze Taylor who caused blaze Taylor this is justice to find not >> all right that's where that's where we're stopping um this is very interesting thing like this is my second listen. I I have not gone any further in this video yet, but by the time I see y'all again, I will probably have watched ahead because it's very hard to listen for the first time and not have heard anything at all and still engage without missing way too much. So, I am going to watch ahead before I see y'all again when we get to the witnesses coming on the stand. Um, but she she threw out her red herrings as she's supposed to as a defense. But if we get all the evidence that they say we're going to get from the prosecution, you tried. You tried. Okay. Yeah, we'll get there. We'll get there. All right. But thank y'all. I do appreciate it. I just kind of threw this one up to because it just kept popping up and I'm like, I want to know about this. So, I will see y'all. Uh, live alerts. If you want reliable live alerts, you can join my Patreon for free. You don't have to pay to get the live alerts, but YouTube sucks. You're not going to get them um consistently on YouTube side. It's just not going to happen. But yeah, we'll follow this through. It's already You can go look ahead. Obviously, you can go look ahead, but we're just going to follow it through. And I'm just going to, you know, it's a watch along. I'm going to say my thoughts as I'm watching and everything. But I do thank you for y'all's company as always, and I will see y'all later. All right. Bye.
