who seek to unlawfully profit through fraud that we will hold them accountable no matter how long it takes Brianne peace the U.S attorney for the eastern district of New York said in a statement um the doj filed a civil action in November 2018 against UBS allegedly the Wall Street bank defrauded investors by knowingly making false and misleading statements to buyers dozens of residential mortgage-backed securities issued in 2006 and 2007. USB conduct in this case played a significant role in causing a financial crisis that harmed millions of Americans said Ryan Buchanan U.S attorney for the Northern District of Georgia my mother-in-law taught me about mortgages okay yep yep 1.4 billion and Sylvia my suspicion is they probably got away with so much that probably was a drop in the bucket to them that's what sucks it's like unite and just want to watch something um it was like placing a bet on a bet that was placed on that bet that was already placed so it's like a domino waiting to happen to fall and everybody was betting what everybody was basically betting with the market that it would succeed and there were some a few of course they were clear um they literally shorted the stock market or that stock all those mortgage-backed stocks and when you short basically you're saying I believe this is gonna fail and when it fails I think it's gonna fail by this much if you're in that range those stock market those stocks technically owe you and so it was called The Big Short because because people a few people were shorting the stocks it's a good watch I love the explanation um I think the actors in there were pretty good if I remember because I'm I'm remembering my feelings more than the scenes and I felt like I really was like whoa please be careful out there it's another variant oh okay got it got it they should give some to the people who were involved but we know that's not going to happen right road to 5K oh 41 feet that's you over here speaking the 5K into me I was like road to 5K for who they would do is they would go ahead and let you get a loan for the house in the first year the interest rate would be like let's say 5.8 but you signed saying that you agreed that uh to a balloon interest rate which literally picture a balloon inflating your interest rate could jump from 5.7 percent to like eight some percent and now you cannot afford your mortgage or probably in the teens knowing them but yeah y'all it's a good it's a um they were just backing a bad loan it was eventually going to fall and those who got in and got out probably won and those who stayed in the ones that lost everything and they should have never gave those people mortgages knowing they were going to fail them that way too that it was predatory lending in my opinion Miss Z you're welcome we just left that many were getting those interests only they just wanted to get in right and some probably were I just I just always you know by the numbers like you know how it it's a Target all right now where the money resides love it yeah Joyce who gets the money the homes the land I have friends that lost their homes I it's probably going back to a piece of the government Arleta and then of course people that know people which are usually clear people in my opinion that's just what I think let me put my banner up that's just what I think though thank you Choice it is two-sided blame but of course we have to determine what we are able to afford just to turn balloon screams Flats exactly but succeeding you don't think there's different terms they're going to put instead of balloon succeeding I don't watch too many people get uh be victims of fraud to know it is not that straightforward most of the time it's just not it's not so true at some point my home the Pinnacle was high school c41 fit I think that's that's the same for my husband I think that's how it was he ended up learning trades instead he never even he didn't go to college even now like he has no desire now which I'm like he's so good with everything he does it's like Choice say even if you lose everything give her six months to a year she'll get it back because of her talents that she has that's how I see him I think he'll always be able to be okay because he just he's uh he's just talented a lot of stuff they were calling them arms and not explaining what an adjustable rate mortgage actually is I remember that term arms thank you yeah balloon sounds balloon and even then sometimes that still may not sound bad when you're not even taught how interests work how an amortization schedule works because I didn't even learn how amortization schedule worked so I I kind of self-educated myself but I was blessed enough to have the time and not be in a desperate position and all kinds of other factors because I didn't realize that with amortization you're both you're basically paying almost only interest for the first like what decade or so and a little bit of principle I didn't know that I thought it was like credit card and annual interest rate at first um I had about a half of the time when I was thinking that but I'm saying it's we have to just help protect each other because it's just not that easy we don't have the same amount of exposure I think everyone can be smart but if you're not exposed to the right resources and um uh education and putting it in a practical Manner and they just keep it hidden behind certain terms it's so easy to become a victim and that's who they target because they're going for easy money listen Mr Trenton said nope I'm gonna make my own way 41 fit he did he stood 10 toes down and I'm like honestly most people that the trades are what's getting the money now because um depending on what you go to college for I'll say that Enterprise wants you to have a bachelor's degree and you you know they pay close to minimum wage like it's too much I saw a friend get into one and tried explaining but she closed before actually looking into what I was talking about and she was able to refinance before it actually adjusted Shane you've saved your friend crazily crazily baby yes when drop draw your own blueprint you can lose it all and get it back because you're self-made choice that sticks with me a guy wrote a loan for us to come find out it had come to find out it had a balloon balance the company he was working for did a lot of fraud they ended up giving us 20K back because of class action suits oh may may I'm so happy to hear that because there's not many stories like you that I hear oh so I'm glad you were added into that class action lawsuit
