This is Alexis, caught shoplifting at Walmart. When the police confronted her, she broke down, realizing the harsh reality of her situation. In a state of panic, she wondered if her frantic actions could somehow save her from the consequences. On August 11th, 2023, officers responded to a report of a woman involved in shoplifting at Walmart. On arrival at Walmart, officers spoke with an employee to gather details. As tension built, they turned their focus to the suspect. We opened the register back up and she proceeded to continue to miss again several more items and at some point she just started taking items just putting straight through. So I observed on camera once she completed the transaction stopped she went out towards the GM exit which is on the other side and once we pass the last point of sale passing the vestibule I made a stop on her and brought her back. The total is $2162 or $2132. And when I when I realized who she was, she's a woman I actually deterred last week for about $135 from last week. Okay. And anything else before we search everything? Anything else illegal on you? Illegal? No, I I do have a firearm on me, though. Okay. Where's that at? It's on my hip. I have a concealed carry license permit. All right. And no dope in the in your bag there? No. Nothing. Don't pick it up. I'm just asking. We'll go through that. Nothing else on you? No. All right. Stand up for me, T. I'm just going to give you a quick Okay. Nothing else. Yes, sir. All right. Fantastic. Nope. Nothing in your pockets? Nothing in your bra? No, none of that stuff. I'm sorry. Oh, can I go in here? In here. Okay. All right. Sit tight. Okay. Does she have to stay out there? No. What's her name again? Where's your husband at? He's at home at 199. Okay. Do you have a phone? Why don't you go ahead and call him real quick? Put on speaker phone. He I've called him. He He does know. Is he her biological father? Okay. Officers informed the suspect's husband of the situation and the weight of the news hit him hard. The consequences of the incident were about to unfold in ways he never expected. Just to see whether or not I should start looking for a ride up there. Um, call a phone call. See if I can get a get a ride. Otherwise, um, I don't know if I I don't even think a Uber would be able to come to my house cuz my driveway. I mean, are you not able to meet an Uber at the end of your driveway? No, we don't. The the road is There's some kind of easement battle that's going on between There's an easement. We got to drive. Okay. Well, I'll tell you what. Let's not waste any more time with that. Just go ahead and make a couple of phone calls. see if you can get a ride up here in the next 10 or 15 minutes. Um, yeah, we need someone to pick up the daughter obviously cuz your wife's going to be taking a ride with us. So, um, is it not possible to to for you guys to pick me up and bring I mean, I know you guys aren't freaking taxi service, man, but I'm going to be able to find someone, man. and then you guys can bring me up there and then bring back I'm going to have to get our vehicle. Well, tell you what, you check on getting some rides up here. I'll talk with the other deputies and see if we can work that out if you can't get a ride up here. But for now, it'd be most expeditious if you could just go somewhere. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I'll I'll definitely do my part. I got a few phone calls I can make and I'll try to make that happen. Okay. Thank you. All right. [Music] How long have you lived here in Delana? Um, three years. You still have a Coington address here on your driver's license? I know because I my driver's license was lost at the Cleveland. I'm sorry. For 3 years? I I haven't renewed it. I just haven't renewed it. I know, but but then but if you look up my system, I understand. And this is secondary to everything else. But yeah, you have 60 days to change your address. You can do that. No, it's changed in the system, sir. All right. I I to give you a form of identification. That's I'm giving you No, my Have you used anything today? No. I'm I'm freaking out. Look what I did to my kid. Your behavior is very indicative of of using. So that's uh while we're at We're not I'm just not arbitrarily asking that. Okay. Just stolen from Walmart. Yeah, I understand that. All right. This weapon's going to be sitting here. I have the clip, though. The suspect broke down in tears, desperately insisting that she hadn't done anything wrong. Her emotional plea echoed through the air, but as the officers dug deeper into the situation, it became evident that her version of events was only part of the story. I don't have anything to say other than I I know what I've done. Okay, there's that. 753. Can I get the next uh case number reference? I'm sorry. 10 four. Thank you. All right, sir. There's my name, badge number, case number on the back. Thank you very much. I appreciate you. You mind if I have a look through your purse before we get to the jail? There's a spare bag in there, too. A spare what? Bag. Okay. Thank you. I'm going to put I'm going to go ahead and put that. Okay. Well, Okay. Call your husband back and let him know that you dial it. Okay, he's he's calling. Okay, let me see if you can Hello, this is Deputy Clogston. Hey, how you doing? Mr. um I'm um I'm waiting for a return phone call. Listen, Officer Cooper, he's going to come pick you up. Yeah. Okay. All right. Does he Does he have your Does he have her dress? Does he know what's his address? I didn't say you were. I know, but I mean I get it. I know how this looks. That's my baby out there. All right. Well, and I'm supposed to be going to see my my my dad on Wednesday. Good night. Well, you probably probably be out by Wednesday, I would assume. What are you doing over there? Sit down. What are you doing? I dropped my lid. You dropped your what? My lid. Your lid to what? Your water. It's directly under the Listen, I'm I've never been in trouble. That's not who I am. So, you're Well, don't don't Well, don't tell me you haven't been in trouble cuz we know that's not true. Well, right. But this is says it's tra at all, but I didn't open it. Obviously, she does not have a prescription for it. Did you take any of that today? Yeah. She says nothing else, but probably if there's any markings on it, we can look it up and see if that's what it is. Let's look in here. May I have one of those chopsticks in there? Yeah. Let me find it again. The one without the pills, right? Yes. Yeah. Where did you park at? Front row. What kind of car is it? F150. Okay. It's got a blue port in the front window. Officers delved into the suspect's past, pressing her on the possibility of custody as they unraveled more details. The tension built with each question, and the investigation revealed unexpected twists. I know how it looks. That's not how it looks. That's how it is. It's how it is, right? It's a difference between perception and reality. This is reality. I understand that. Okay. This is not who I am. Regardless of how it may look right now to you, I am not here to judge. Yeah. Well, I am here to I understand the facts, right? I know. I know. When was the last time you got arrested for this? Was it like 6 months ago? Yeah. Were what was the step? What happened with that case? Did you get first offender? Did you Yes, it was a first offender and it was even Was it like pre-trial pre-trial diversion or was it wasn't at Walmart? No, it was at the Dollar General. Okay. Sorry. I know. Oh, did uh did Kyle leave? Kyle mixer. Did he leave? Uh yeah, he went to get the husband. Okay, they'll be back here. Give this to him. Okay. So, so you're done with pre-trial diversion is normally 6 months. Have you completed that or no? Uh, I um did community service or paid a fine or I but the I was bailed out so that money went to my fine. Right. But what I'm saying is you've completed the pre-trial diversion. I'm just asking so we know where we're at. I don't know what that means. I don't I don't Did you complete it? So when you do pre-trial diversion, when you complete whatever it is they ordered you to do, the charges are dropped. It's like right. Oh, okay. So after the 20 hours of community service, they will be dropped. Yes. And it would be August. It would be in August. So you're still actively in the freel? Yes. A It would be today. Oh, well that's going to get revoked. Okay. So, what does that mean? Well, that means you didn't complete your pre-trial diversion. So, those charges are going to go back to active. So, now you're going to have two counts because you didn't complete the pre the pre-trial diversion is basically a get out of jail free card, so to speak. Hey, we understand people make mistakes, complete this program, the arrest goes away. It's like it never happened. Am I going to go to jail for a length of time right now? I don't know. For tonight, no, you're going to go to jail until you get bonded out. And it's probably it's a preset bond, which means you don't have to have a first appearance. So, okay. So, what does that do? Do you know how much it is? Oh, I don't know. I actually asked the other deputy. He said he couldn't remember either. I think, and don't quote me on this, I think it's $500, but I'm not positive. But it's going to Yeah, I guess this is technically going to count as a first offense because it won't count as a second offense until your first offense is adjusted. So, so while your bell is going to be first offense, when the charges actually come active, it's going to be your second offense. So, okay. So, does that get right now? Or is it just the bail out? No, just your bail. Tonight, all you'll do is post bail, whatever that is. And again, I don't know exactly what it is. That's outside my purview. The suspect nervously called her father, her voice trembling as she revealed the unfolding situation. As the conversation continued, it became clear that this was just the beginning of a much larger story. And did you print off a a narrative or Yeah, I gave it to Dardi. Y'all don't have a zip tie in here, do you? If you do, fine. If not, just going to secure this gun. I can get one. I know we have I I'll do it over there. It's fine. I just know if you had one, you guys run through there. Thank you, sir. trash can. Yeah. For the trespass case number, we draw a separate case number. Can we use this? Okay. Oh, cool. Thank you. Absolutely. The police informed the suspect about the trespass warning issued by Walmart, adding another layer to the situation. As the details unfolded, it became clear this wasn't the first time trouble had followed her. Alex says, "I'm going to endure. This is trespass warning, so sure you know what that means, but if you come back to this property, they're going to call us and you're going to go to jail again for trespassing. on that top line there. Thank you. And a copy of this will go with your uh to go with your property so you'll have it when you see if I can get that. That's for what she paid for. $135. This is what she actually took. This is the stuff to What's that? This is all the stuff. Yeah, the $130. He also put it on here as well. We can we can attach all this to the report. Anything else? Did she keep this stuff? Yes, that stuff that we have. Where's the stuff that she paid? Is that separated over there? Yeah, it's not separated. It is a service desk. Okay. So, we'll get when her husband gets here, the stuff that she purchased. We'll have to reiterate purchase. We just want to stomp this out when we get there. Honestly, Cooper thinks, but probably Well, you don't want to say Cooper. That's the point. So, the stuff that you purchase, you'll get. Okay. What stuff do you want to go with? What do you want to go with your husband? Are you okay with the firearm being released to him? Yes. And what about your personal? I just need my wallet and my cell phone if that's okay. We'll just take we'll just take your purse with it. No, I don't. I just just this just that. Yeah. And can I have a chapstick? You're not going to be able to have You're not going to have your phone. You want to take The suspect was secured in the police cruiser. Her fate now sealed. As the car sped toward the jail, the weight of the situation began to settle in. Sir, I'm going to release this weapon to you. I'll go flop 17. It's zip tied. You have one in the chamber. No, I clear. I know. I'll call her all the time. Thank you, sir. Talk to him. Okay. Hello. Actually, is that your uh water? Is that your snot ready? No, I I spilled water. Okay. I would Okay. I was going to have you drop the trash. I just didn't want to grab it. And again, you know the drill. You have nothing else on you cuz once you go to that jail, if you have any dope on you, pills, anything, it's a felony. Okay. I'm just I'm just making sure for your for you. It won't affect me. I appreciate it. Yeah. It won't affect And we're actually not going to charge you with the tram at all. We're just going to stomp it out and Well, that's what we're going to do. All right. Come with me. Then did you get you got the printing statement? Should be on. I believe you turned out everything. Between me and you, we got tons to talk about, but listen to me. Listen to me. Alexis was charged with theft. They seemed to believe they could avoid consequences by resisting the authorities. On December 21st, 2023, officers responded to an active shoplifting incident at Walmart. Both suspects were charged with shoplifting over $1,800 worth of merchandise, conspiracy, obstruction, harassment, and resisting arrest. Only the female was charged with two counts of aggravated assault. In the previous case, the suspects fought with officers to save themselves, but the next suspect, Rube, resorted to telling an emotional story in hopes of escaping her fate. Whether her story would save her remained the big question. On May 4th, 2024, officers responded to Walmart following a report of a woman shoplifting. The woman maintained she had paid for everything and even claimed to have a receipt as proof. Officers arrived to find two female suspects and immediately began questioning them. The tension thick in the air. M E L E A. Okay. And do you have a state ID? Out of what state? No. No. All right. So, okay. [Music] Um, neither one of them receipt. Okay. Did you guys buy There was a receipt. He He literally pulled up the video and there was a receipt. I got a receipt of you getting one. Neither which y'all have on y'all. I show you a video of receipt from the machine. Okay. And then I asked, "Can you play after it play?" I said we can pull up a receipt. Okay. But you don't have a receipt on you. Okay. But there's it's still proof of me having a receipt. Okay. But even if it say your card declined is still going to produce a receipt. Okay. So do you have any receipt? I literally showed him proof of the transactions where it said Okay, perfect. Let's see the I asked if they can print one cuz usually they can do that. But I don't know if they ended up right now. I just did food purchase $66 May 4th 7:35 p.m. That was all the food that's in here. Does it show like Walmart? Does it show any If I was here at 7:35 7:55 Okay. So 66.50. That was all the food. That was all the food. All the food. Yes. What about all the other stuff? Those No. Did you buy that? No. But there is some nails in here that she paid for it with at the makeup section. She has the transaction of it. Yeah. If it's like So my question is you guys if he showed you receipt and you said that you got a receipt. Yeah. But I don't know what you lost receipt between here and there cuz it was between going that way. I mean just for my nails but Okay. just nails and for the little like press on it. They have like section and I have all the food is paper. I just put a map like this. Okay. What about this big thing? I'm pretty sure I scanned it when I did everything else. So, I scanned the waters. I did the box thing. All right. How about this? We organize what you know you paid for. We'll write the receipt for that. We'll see what that comes out to cuz that's 6650 for all the food items. For all the food items, we will figure out what you didn't pay for and then we'll go from there. What about that little bag down there? That one. Are those your nails? How about the lipstick? Mine. Oh, it's been mine. It's been yours? Yeah. And then she brought this little toy, too. What's that, ma'am? This toy also got purchased. All right. So, let's put everything you got purchased in this cart. We're going to get a receipt. You purchase that that stuff, too. The suspects insisted they had paid, but the police pressed on, determined to uncover the truth from all this stuff. Did someone else grab a receipt from all this stuff? [Music] Did you have to grab a receipt? Ash, what's the address on? You didn't Did you make any Did you know what they were doing? Mr. Ramos. Okay. Because I just ran you out and you don't have a Wisconsin driver's license or Wisconsin anything. What? The 01 or 03. Was that said, did you run it out of 01? I did 03, too, because you said you're 21 and I figured it. It's Wisconsin. I haven't already seen them, but But you have a Wisconsin ID card. Wisconsin ID card. You have a picture of it? No, I don't. I showed him my Facebook, but I know, but anybody I can make a Facebook with John Doe on there. get my picture and stuff cuz I'm just doled up right here. Just not 388 Wisconsin 27. She says she paid for this stuff. Food items. Yes, the dress. So, you paid for everything that's in this cart? Yes. And that's I'm going to let you look at it one more time before we What's that? [Music] And you know you paid for that box underneath there, too. Cuz we're going to go back and look this stuff. When I scanned when I was scanning, I scanned both. So why did you pay for the other items? Like like when you had all that stuff in the cart and you were paying for this stuff, you're like I just don't want to pay for that stuff or what? No, it's not that then. What is it? It's deeper, but I don't really want to talk about it. Okay, fair enough. Thank you. What's the address on your ID card? ID. Okay. I mean, it's an old No, I know, but what address would it be? All right. I need you to stop looking and tell me what the address is. Otherwise, I'm wiping my tears. What the [ __ ] Miss Ramos? I'm trying to see if my son's okay. Okay. You are currently being detained. No, I'm going to hold on to your phone. What is the address on your ID card? If I can't prove that it's you because I don't have the physical card in. It's an old address. I know. So, what's the old address? I don't remember it. Okay. Then you're going to have to be going down to the building to get your fingerprints taken. Or actually, have you ever been arrested before? Yes. Perfect. I'll be right back. I forgot you had one of them. Not even that. I'm more emotional because of what y'all just asked me. Well, the reason I didn't pay for that stuff. And the reason behind that is it's just financial issues. Like really limping right now cuz my legs broken. Like it's just so much that I had to pay off. So yeah, I I did what I thought was necessary as a mother. Literally struggling. I said I was just a big me. Like that's embarrassing. That's not something I want to talk about. So yeah, like I just told my cooperator with them. All the food purchase items were were purchased for. These weren't closed. Like everything was in the car purchase. I just The suspect shared her struggles with the police, but it wasn't enough to stop her arrest. wrong a part of this party to a crime. If you like look back on the cameras, I literally was paying no attention to anything. I was I just literally had nothing to do with it. Like like I literally just came to get her items also. I didn't do anything. Try that one for now. I need your left index finger. All right. Is that the stuff that you did or did not do? Did not everything. I just told him food purchase items. So the stuff So the stuff that he took is the stuff that you purchased. Okay, great. And I'm sorry time cuz I didn't have to do that. But it's literally been hard for me this whole year. Like step back like everything's literally been hard and like I haven't told nobody. Well, maybe this is the time that you need to start asking for help. But even when I was asking for help, like I wouldn't get help. And then I even did stuff myself like going down to the job center, going downtown, speaking to lawyers, speaking to like women and children are rising cuz I had an abusive baby daddy. Like it's just so much that I tried to get help and never got help. All right. So I have the printed of what they actually scan versus what I just scanned. What I just scanned is 199. That's just this. That's just this right here. Um, all right. So, we got to figure out what she actually paid for and what she didn't. I guess I got to go through each one. Okay. So, this is what's going to happen. Huh? I literally been saying all the food items. Okay. Uh, and I can uh less. We'll just give it to them. Take that. All right. Ruby, come over here. Stand over here. Face the wall. We're going to take this little perch thing you got on here off. Put your hands behind your back for me. You're not saying it's what? Well, I don't have to tell you until I take you down there. But you are though because you're putting me in handcuffs. Yes. Yes. So, right now you're in custody for retail theft and for obstruction. Obstructing. I told you what was going to happen if you lied to us about your name and you lied to us about your name. You have anything in your underwear that's going to go down into jail? Cuz if you go down into jail and there's anything there's anything any contraband that's going to be an extra felony. Yeah, I'll let you I'll have to let you know there in a minute. All right, let me see what you just change it. Nothing. So, yeah, that's what I thought it was. I could smell it. Maybe black. Can't smell nothing cuz there's nothing there. Do you want her to take this? There's that. There's nothing in there. So, you can't charge me for that. How about this side? You somehow know that was in there. You're right. That was in there. You really don't. There's nothing in there. There's still residue. There's nothing in there, though. Okay, I can deal with it. It could be trash, but there's I'm not talking. Is that Is that a THC vape? You want her to have it all? THD vape. My phone, too. I was just here with it, too. Can you give her my phone? I don't have your phone. Hey, it's on the printer. Oh, yeah. All right. You don't want your phone? Give her my phone. Rube was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, retail theft, bail jumping misdemeanor, and resisting an officer. While Rube tried to save herself with sad stories, the next suspect, Mariah, shattered the trust of her workplace. As an employee, she had the chance to be honest, but greed led her to destroy everything. In the end, she faced charges. On March 24th, 2023, officers were called to Walmart after a cashier was caught skip scanning and shoplifting. Officers stormed in, their focus sharp as they began collecting crucial information from Walmart staff. The air thickened with suspense, every moment heightening the mystery of what was about to unfold. Um, so she's scanning the items and then saying there's a pricing error. Yeah. And then paying a reduced amount. Yes. Got it. Okay. And then That's all the items from the scan. So, a total of $89. Yeah. A total of 89 including 87. 87. Okay. And then right there, she shoplifted right in front of me. She lifted a a deli food. Okay. So, how now is she doing all that? She did all this on duty. Um, that wasn't when she was on duty. That was when she was off duty. So, some of these were on duty, some of these were off. So, right then and there, she was off duty cuz when she had shoplifted, um, most of these like she's scanning a code, so she has to be on duty. Mhm. But this one specifically on the 19th is not on duty. That's not on duty. When she she did the rescue, so everything else is on duty. The wings are off duty. She walks to the street straight to the break room and Okay, so technically we have two. We have theft by taking and uh shoplifting cuz the shoplifting can be when she's off duty. Is this is this not considered fraud? It's like pricing at a different price. No. So, there's actually a subsection of shoplifting, which is the altering of the price and paying a reduced price for the item. Um, but in this case, because she's doing it on duty, it's it would just be considered theft. Um, so even the skip scan, it it changes just because she's on duty. It's because she's on duty. She she's here legally uh or she's here lawfully. So, we can't hit her for She's not here for an unlawful purpose. She's just performing an unlawful act while she's here for a lawful purpose. So, it'd be theft by take. It'd be misdemeanor for both. Um, unless she has prior for shoplifting. If it was while she was off the clock, it would be considered shoplifting. If it's off the clock, it's shoplifting. If it's on the clock, it's theft by taking [Music] So, if I get a get her schedule and see if it if she's like working at that time. What do you mean? Well, if she's working on the clock or off the clock at this point, like right now? No. No. Oh, so yes. If as the investigation deepened, secrets started to unravel. The police uncovered layers of the suspect's past, revealing shocking details that no one saw coming. The wings at the very least will be that will be the theft by shoplifting. The other ones would be theft by taking [Music] usually putting in like a code and changing the price. Yeah. So the theft by t again if if that's occurring even if it occurred while she was off duty it would be similar to her altering the tag or causing and causing less value to be paid for the item than should be paid. So that would be if she was off duty though that would be theft by shoplifting as well. So in this case [Music] I her the alteration of the price is really it doesn't really change it just changes the only thing that changes anything is whether or not she's on duty. So but it doesn't change the severity of the crime at this point just based on the values. Everything's a misdemeanor amount. So um are they still doing interviewing her in the back? Okay. Okay. And this all happened on Oh, it happened throughout. So, some of it happened on like I saw where was it at? There it is. So, March 19th, March 5th, March 5th, February 17th, February 11th. It started on um it started in January. January 24th. So what alerted y'all to this? Like the amount of price overrides or I watched her stealing for the for the wings. So that was what Okay. I watched her steal in front of me and I was like, "Yeah." Well, I remember you said that. I wasn't sure if that was the most recent one and if that was what had set it off. It said So I watched her. Gotcha. Okay. So, the wings is the only thing she didn't do the price error thing for. No, she walked straight to the break room with the wings. Okay. Okay. But everything else she did by doing the price error alteration. So, no, there were there. If you pull up So, this transaction, she ends up not scanning that, which is a $45 Plunk Pop. Okay. So, she miscanned it. And then she she also miscanned um apple juice and Starbucks like the Starbucks, you know those like the coffee drinks? Yeah, those $2.50 like drinks. Get one of those as well. Okay. And then and is that what that's what this receipt is for? for the this but we also have all the transactions. Okay. Awesome. Okay. All right. Let me uh selection on the All right. Let me go uh let me go loop my supervisor in and uh let him know. I want to make sure because obviously last with the other two the officers closed in on the suspect, pressing for every chilling detail of the incident. With each revelation, the tension escalated before they finally took her into custody. The one we had earlier was uh I'm just going to let him talk. All right. Make sure I got all your information together. Okay. First name is Maria. Mariah. Mariah. M A R I A H. Last name is Hughes. H U G H E S. What's date of birth? 071281 91. Okay. So, you're how old? 19. 19. Okay. Uh, what's your current home address? All right, Muse, I got something I need to read to you. Okay. Um, if you let me get through it and once we get through, we can continue talking. Okay. All right. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can or will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have a lawyer present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish and you can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Now, do you understand each of those rights as I've explained them to you? And having those rights in mind, do you wish to speak with me about the incident here today? Do you wish having those rights in mind, do you wish to speak with me about this incident? [Music] Okay. All right. Um, so Miss Hughes, you are being placed in arrest for theft by shoplifting and theft by taking. Theft by shoplifting for the items you took while you were off duty and theft by taking for the items or for the alteration of the prices that were done while you were on duty. Okay. All right. If you will do me a favor, um, just probably go if you go and take your vest off, badge off, all that. Um, did you drive your vehicle here today? Um, no. Did you get dropped off? Okay. All right. um sell my stuff. Uh you can go and take all your stuff out of your out of the vest and all that. It'll all go with us. Okay. [Music] Yeah. Just go ahead and set that out here cuz I might have to take it out. I might have to take it out in any way. It's all right. All [Music] [Applause] [Music] right, that's fine. All right, so is this yours? No, that's that's theirs. This is all yours. Okay. All right. If you will do me a favor, if you'll stand up for me, if you'll turn around, place your hands behind your back. Put your hands palm to palm just like you're praying. Yep. Just like that. That way it won't put as much pressure on your wrist. Okay. [Music] So, you are going to be transported down to Loun County Jail. Um, both of the things you're being charged with are both misdemeanors. Um, so once you get down there, they should be able to work with you on getting any kind of uh making kind of phone calls you need to make or anything like that. Okay. Give me one second. Double lock tighten down on you. Clearly. The suspect was shoved into the back of the police cruiser. Her fate sealed. As the vehicle sped off, the silence was deafening, hinting at the gravity of what lay ahead. I walked around this way. Okay. right now. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] As soon as we walk out, my car is right here to the right. Yeah, this it's going to be the second one. Hold on. [Music] All right. You don't have anything else in your pockets or anything? Okay. All right. Give me one second. Let me pull up this uh [Music] Here we go. All right. You'll have a seat for me. Thank you. [Music] How long? Uh, just on the front seat. Or actually, if you want to put it on my dash, that'll be perfect. All right. Do me a favor. So, lean back for me. Look that way. Reach on real quick and buckle this in. Sorry. You're fine. There we go. Thanks. Yes, ma'am. Mariah was charged with shoplifting. While Mariah was dishonest at her workplace, the next suspect, Kelly, attempted a large-scale theft, convinced she wasn't doing anything wrong. Watch as she tries to conceal her identity and whether it works in her favor. On January 4th, 2024, officers were called to Walmart after a report of a woman filling a shopping cart and leaving the store without paying. Officers arrived at Walmart and began questioning the suspect, eager to uncover the truth behind the incident. All right. What's your social? Zero. All right. All right. And then what's your address? The uh one that was on my license. What's your address? Okay. That's the one that was on my license. Okay. And how tall are you? 5T 415 ft. 5T from Florida. What's that? Florida. Just a couple. No, I I don't have any other ID. I honestly don't. I have my license was suspended. So, that's all I have. So, what h what happened here? Basically, she loaded up above me and walked out. I'm not sure. She She went in and selected uh $145.89 worth of merchandise and then rolled out without paying for it. She just rolled right out of the bed. Okay. And y'all were just trying to get that positive ID. I was fighting. Okay. Do you have a car? You're not in trouble for driving here. I obviously don't drive if your license. How'd you get here? We're going to pursue charges as well. Yeah. Yeah. We've already got the statement written up to what you do. I got you. Yeah. So, if you go to the jail, the thing is it's an additional charge if you lie about your name. No, I'm not. Yeah. So, I'm going to go to jail anyway. Well, if they want to pursue charges, okay, and then you go to jail, it's an additional charge to like lie about your name. Okay. So, I'm just letting you know. She also has I I don't know if she has it or not, but Ashton has she has a debit card with your money. It's right here. Okay. Okay. I'm sorry. I didn't know you had pursuing charges. What does that mean here? Why don't you just sit down real quick? Okay. So, they want to pursue charges. Okay, that means that they're the victim of uh Officers spoke with the Walmart employee and reviewed video footage of the incident. Just as the truth began to surface, the suspect made a sudden attempt to flee that they want to just, you know, identify you and then we f charge on a later date, right? And then you give us this name, Callie K. Yeah. Yeah. And that's not you. And then we f we're charging on the wrong person. But we can just clear all that up and take you to jail. today. And so take me to jail today because you think I'm lying about my name. I'm not saying that. I'm just But is that what it is is that what it's I'm not understanding. So if they want to press charges Yeah. It's up to them. It's not up to me. Does that mean I go to jail? Yeah. Inde charges. Today I go to jail. Yeah. That's how you can't steal from Walmart. Okay. Yeah. I walked out here, but I didn't go out through the parking lot. Okay. Yeah, that's fine. I'll just watch the video and then based off the video um yeah I'll come up with my conclusion. They just they stopped me right here. Okay. Yeah. Which is still you're passing points of uh Okay. But I didn't go any further and slowly you cut out the first set of doors right here. Okay. See I must have actually by our state statue once you pass the regist I don't want to go to jail. What do I need to do? I know I did this. I did something wrong, but I don't if I was told that I didn't get my information, I would go. I hear you. I hear you. All right. Yeah. So, let me just watch that video and then um and then Yeah. So, you're sticking to that though? The Cali name? Callie. Kelly Joel. That is my name. Okay. And how did you get here again? A from Hold on. Okay. And what's their name? I have only her name. Okay. He's here for a lawful reason, but if you weren't here for anything extra before that, he just got through shopping. Okay, you're good to go then. Thank you. This is our car. So, can I take it? She um we Yes or no? Yes. We gave her a ride up to the store. What's her name? What's her name? Kelly. Kelly what? I'm not sure. The police quickly apprehended the suspect and turned their attention to the person who had given her a ride, eager to learn more. I'm trying to get it out. I'm not sure how to pronounce it. Okay. Give me just a second. Where does she live at? Um, Keystone Heights, I think. Keystone Heights, she's in Keystone. No, this is it. Just her. You don't know her address in Keystone? She just, you know, we picked up walking. She's walking. She started to go shopping. She had asked if she went if she could go. Have you had any interaction with her before until today? You said you were going to arrest me anyway. So what the Yeah, I hear you. Yeah. Where's that bag at? So why not just get another charge while at it? Yeah, but they told me I was only going in for 5 minutes to talk and they would let me go. And he came in and they told me I'm lying about who I am. No, all we had to do was And he told me I was going to go regardless. The camera. You said what? Is it on the camera? Yeah. He said I was going regardless for what? Not necessarily. But that's what he told me. Yourself. It could have been that you could have. He said no. Either way, I was going. Why not get another charge while you're at it? Yes. Who said you were going? Him. Him? Yes. Oh, okay. You could have been good to go still, but No, that was not what I was told. All right, stand up. Just keep an eye on those. I don't want to lose those. Uh, no. I just ate, so I had a cramp when I was like running and stuff. He jumped in the car. I didn't know if they were going to take off. sound like you. Can I Can I put your uh They don't really look alike, do they? They look different. I was fatter and my hair was dark. I have red hair. Same nose piercing. Okay, good, man. Good. All right. Can you just search her real quick? Do you have gloves? Uh can someone grab me? You got gloves on you? You're good. Someone with gloves. Yeah, I got my vest is in the car. Throw it out now. Throw it out here. Go ahead and put your chest against the car. Anything on you that's going to stick or pug me or anything that's going to hurt me or yourself? Anything on you I need to know about. Unfortunately, Kelly couldn't make her escape. So, now she is on the go behind bars. So, the worst thing you need to do is run. That's the last thing you need to do. It could have been a everything. But there you have resources. You need to use them. Look, we have resources. The city, the county has resources. Stealing is the last thing you need to do. And then when you get caught stealing, running and not telling people your name is even though I told him my name. I gave him my social security. Why did you run? Because he told me I was going to jail anyway. And I have nothing to You have resources. I do. Look. Look. I'm telling you, I have nobody to jail. I'm taking I am nobody. I have no one to take me out. I have nothing. Well, whoever these these lovely people that is that picked you up. And listen, when you're a mom, how old is your kid? So, young young needs a mom, right? Not sitting in jail, not being able to take care of him. Callie, look at me. You have resources. the sheriff's office and the police department has availability for moms and children. I'm going to be so Look, whenever you get through with this because you made a very decision, fair enough. You're going to have to own it at this point. When you get out, there's resources. This is not what you need to be doing with the 3-month old kid. So, who's going to take care of the kid now? Why is that? He went into this. Is that important? Is the dad around? Oh, unfortunately. I know. I thought she was caring. Okay. So, today you made a really bad choice as a mom. Okay. But when you get out, there's resources for the sheriff's office and the police department. Do you still live over in Keystone? What? Where do you have any Where do you have Where do you have people that will look out to after you? Nowhere. When you get out, reach out to Kim Dailyaly with the sheriff's office. She's a victim's advocate that can find resources for you cuz this is not what you want to be doing. So, if there's any hope of you wanting to have contact with your 3-month old, this I'm going to do that for you. Yeah, fair enough. So when you get released at the jail, they can let you know who their victim's advocate is, but you have to ask and you have to reach out. Okay? Cuz people don't know if you don't know if you don't say anything. But this isn't this isn't it. Okay. All right. All right. Or whatever. If you want to do it in whatever order, I'll probably have anything. I have nobody. I hear you. Well, I thought you were trying to carjack those people. No, they gave me the right and you said I wasn't going to go anyway and I just didn't I don't want to go to jail without saying. I hear you. I don't want to blame anything or anybody and I'm not lying about Kelly was charged with resisting arrest and lararseny. Like the previous suspect, our next one tried to hide her information, believing that concealing her identity might save her. However, theft is never a good choice for anyone. On May 26th, 2023, officers were called to Walmart after a report of a woman shoplifting. Officers arrived at the Walmart parking lot, located the suspect, and ordered her to comply. Back up. Get back now or you're going to get What hands are punching? You're under arrest. Stop moving. Just lean up against the car. Okay. We're gonna get you get you a medic. Here's your shoe. Okay. So, that happened because there's in the front of that and she tried to run. I didn't. Okay. I'm telling you that's why that happened. Okay. Okay. Did you lie about who you were? No. Okay. Have you ever had an ID at all? No. Do you have warrants? No. No. Why'd you run? I don't want to go to jail. You don't want to go to jail? Well, now we're going to jail. Come on. We are going to search you. Okay. So, if you got something on you, just let us know now. All right. We're already We're already in this predicament. You're good. Don't reach in your pockets. Yeah. Charges up. Possession now. Possession of drugs and resisting arrest. Oh, that's It looks just like [Music] It's not It's a white powder of some sort. I haven't looked at it closely, but it looked like at a glance. Yeah, there's not a ton of it in there. I told her to give it to me and that's what she I mean, there's she can't identify. You got my phone? Says it's the most uh I'm not sure. or we'll have to figure it out. What does it look like? What is your real name? Simone. All right. Well, that social you gave me is not your social. So, I'm going to give you one more time. Give me your actual social security number. Well, you got to go with my full name cuz that's that's my social or you got to call my um girlfriend or mom so I can get it short cuz it might be off by one number. Or y'all can try my other name. Your other name? Yeah, I got two names. My name got changed. That's why I never got so clean. I never got ID. What's your other name? Heaven. Heaven. What? As police worked to verify her identity and check for any records, the suspect's resistance led to injury. They quickly provided her with medical support, but the tension remained high. You're just you you just can't leave at the moment. Okay. I'm not trying to leave. I'm trying to help you. Just want to understand I have to pick my kids up. I got you. But you were with someone who committed a crime, so you can't leave. I don't want to talk to you. Okay. I mean, it's white powder. It's not that much. Do you hurt at all? What? Are you hurt at all? My head hurting. Your your head hurts in your knee? Okay. Anything else, though? Nothing like major. Okay. Do you want me to talk to her? Good. Okay. How old are you? I'm 27. Okay. Hello. Yes. This is her mom. I want to know what's going on cuz my daughter definitely don't steal. Okay. Well, here's the I I understand that, but she's with someone who did steal. So, till I can go inside and figure out what Walmart's saying happened, I can't let her go because she was with someone who stole. Okay. Okay. Well, that's fine. She can sit there. But she's she didn't steal. She said she has her receipt for everything she didn't know. I got you. We'll we'll we'll figure that out. If her friend would have went with the program, we would have already been there. But she don't have nothing to do with her friend. That's like me killing somebody. No, no. You You understand what I'm saying though? Her friend made it hard for me to do my job. Yeah, I understand. Go ahead. Okay. Okay. Let me speak to her. Yep. There you go. This uh this handcuff isn't really Yeah, I know. It's We need to adjust it. We need to search her first before that happens. Hi. So, she tried to run from us and got tackled. Okay. Um and then she was having some sort of like seizure incident on her head after we tackled her. Probably get back in the table. All right. All right. We're going to stand you up. Okay. Ready? Mhm. 3, two, one. All right, let's do this one. You good, Nick? We'll make sure there's nothing in your pocket. Yeah, we got to deal with that here in a minute. All right, perfect. Yeah, let's uh readjust these handcuffs real quick. Don't do anything crazy. All right. Yeah, please. Yeah, please don't run again. Okay, you're you're not going to get away. We're readjusting the handcuffs. No, that's too fine to be mad, probably fatty. That's what I was thinking. There's like a stroll right there. It's way too fine to be All right, we're going to walk you back over here to the medic. Okay, medic. Yeah. Oh, wait. Okay. All right. Look, we're going to try and get you help. Okay. Cuz obviously you were injured in the use of force. Please do not try and run away or do anything else again. Okay. Name on that EDT card. Where'd it go? Asia O' Porter. That's probably her name. Tasia O Porter. Thank you. Yep. What is her real name? What's that? Does that have to come from her? What's your name? No. What's her real name? Simone. Her name is Simone. Any other name? How long you know her? That's your sister? Like legitimate bloodline sister? No, I just call her my sister cuz I know the bloodline. Okay. Is her name Asia Porter? Oh, I don't know who that. You don't know who that is? All right. So, this chick's probably catching uh theft and possession possession of fatty. She's going to the hospital. Um, so we get out with Watch her. Um, he gets out with both of them. We're over there talking to him. He does? Yeah. So, both of who? The two females. There's another female over there. Yeah. Um, and we're talking to him. Everything's fine, right? Officers discussed the suspect's case and moved forward with processing. The stolen items were returned to the Walmart employee and a trespass warning was issued to the suspect's friend. He's trying to figure out who they are. She pulls out a cigarette pack. That girl in the back of the medic pulls out a cigarette pack and I see in the back in the front of the cigarette pack is a rolled up like tied off baggie. So I'm like, "Hey, give that to me." I see it. Give it to me. And she's like, "I don't have anything." And starts kind of like pulling away. So Nick and I go to grab her and she goes she takes off running and we tackle her right by the CRV and there's I mean it's it's like a little bit of white powder in it but we still can't figure out who she is. The name the social she gave us is fake as it came back to old white guy. That guy right there. Yeah. Did you try to find the Asia whatever? Yeah. It is. I was still waiting on it. Asia. What's your friend's name? Just be honest with us. I think Simone. What? What was her last name? Do you know her date of birth? Yeah. What is it? That's her name. That's what I call No, I said what's her birthday? I don't know. That's what you call her? Yeah, that's what I call. So, is that not her real name? I That's what everybody call her. Okay. Um, so is it was just the baby stuff? So, did she do anything? She was standing there letting her do it. So, we're going to charge her based on that cuz she knew what she was doing. And obviously we stretched by both of them, but she didn't cooperate. She ran us with this part. So, okay. Can you get a total for me then? You get started on a statement? Yep, we already did that. Thank you. Well, she's just under scanning. So, she scanned certain stuff and didn't scan. One of our other associates seen them and then he seen them do it and as I was walking up, they just grab the bag. I said, "Oh, okay." So, then when I tried to, you know, talk to him about it, um, she started getting a little bit after that. Smaller one just check the receipt. She said it's in her phone. I said, "Well, we're going to have to go through everything." She said, "I'm not doing that." So, as I was moving around trying to try to, you know, cooperate, you know, talk to her. She kept ramming me with the car like, "No, no, this one or the other one?" The other. Okay. So, then when she got out here, that's when she was like, "Check." I'm like, "That's what I was trying to do." Yeah. And then she just kept going. I'm just like, "All right, well, we'll just get the police involved. Y'all want to Okay. Cool. It could have been avoided." Yeah. You know. All right. All right. Yeah. If you guys can get me a total while the other girl wasn't scanning up the stuff, she was standing there watching her. So, they want to pursue charges, but I don't really I don't think we have enough to charge her. If she's ever been hit or anything, we just let her say we just let her go. I don't I don't know that we have enough on her. I mean, she she's given her information and everything. The only thing is has person ID arrested jurisdiction. It doesn't hurt to try. Yeah, I'll ask. All right. Can I talk to you real quick? Does Simone have any property in your car over there? Like an ID or a purse? No, she she just does. She don't wear She what? She She don't wear purses. Okay. I'm just asking cuz cuz we need to figure out who she is. No, she don't have no purse. Okay. So, I'm talking I heard you say I was They said I was watching. How was I watching her? I don't have eyes in the back of my head. That's what they're saying. I don't know. Give me one second. We're almost done. Maybe. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's what I thought. She was just there when she was scanning something. She They said she didn't understand anything. They said they watched her. She watched her do it. But I'm not I'm not pressing charges based on that. She's like a stolen item and we can't trespass. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Yeah, after looking at those ones cuz of round head. Yeah. So, here's the deal. Um, we we're not going to press charges on you. Okay. Um, but you are being trespassed from Walmart, which what that means is you can't come back to Walmart. You come back to Walmart. Yeah. You come back to Walmart, you can be arrested for trespassing. Okay. Um, any questions on any of that? I got you. What's a good phone number? What's a good phone number for you? The woman was charged with possession of drugs, falsification, theft, resisting arrest, and probation violation. I I can tell you all this stuff once we get back to the car. Go ahead and get you to stand up. Take that off. This is a huge mistake. Also, I can I at least say something about this? I'd like for you to see the footage of where when I scan this, I called the employee over to make sure that everything was correct. Can you take a look at that? I I just open up about what loss prevention said. He's taking the warrants out. I'm just transported. But I mean, can we not at least pull that just show the associate over? I saw exactly what I mean. It's six in a pack. $10.99 a pack. You you can win. I mean, you should know they $10.99 a piece. I mean, you bought them before, right? Yeah. But that's not how I purchased them. Do they have a thing if the way it's made? I mean, I see it. It's It's in a big box. You scan one of them. I mean, if you buy a big box, is it $10.99? No, it's 20some dollars. The investigation pressed on as officers dug deeper into the suspect's background. Meanwhile, the suspect called her mother, revealing the unfolding situation. But you he said some do you remember what takes 30 you said? No. I I didn't know. I was like if you said you said all you know all you had was traffic offenses.
