All right. Hey y'all. This live stream includes extended segments of interrogation footage presented with ongoing commentary and my reaction. This footage was originally shared for educational purposes as stated by the original uploader. We are cuz me and the chat are engaging with it respectfully to observe investigative processes, behavior, and the facts shown as viewers interested in true crime. So you will hear my commentary. If you don't like that, I will have the source in the description box after the live ends. All right, so let's get started. Um, as you saw the title, military mom. So, explore with us is the original poster and it says, "Mom realizes police discovered her horrifying secret." >> Wait. Oh, >> you need to go to medical. You want me to take you medical? >> Oh [ __ ] Oh [ __ ] No, no, no. >> The footage you just saw was taken at the exact moment this woman realized that the police finally knew what happened to her missing 5-year-old daughter. Her life is about to change forever. The coworker riding in the car with her had no way of knowing just how desperate Briana had become, and what she did next would likely change his life as well. >> No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. [ __ ] The majority of the following footage has never been seen before. Police became involved in the situation after 27-year-old Briana Shantae Williams made this 911 call around 700 a.m. on November 6th, 2019. >> What's going on? >> I do not know where my daughter is. >> Did she run away? >> No. >> Where was she last seen? >> She was here with me. >> What was she wearing? >> She a purple shirt and like pink pajamas. like a t-shirt. She was on it. >> The pants were pink. >> Again, >> okay, just stay on the line with me. Just Do you know where she could have gone? >> No. >> Have you checked >> like She just came home. I just picked up on Halloween night. She was with my mom in Alabama. >> Okay. Is it Have you checked the house? >> Yes. >> Did she have a favorite hiding spot in the house? >> All right. So, she said the last time she had since she she just picked up her daughter on Halloween night and her daughter was at her mom. So, the daughter's maternal grandmother point that out for the later later things >> like a bed. >> I I checked on it. >> Let's check again. Go to her bedroom. Let's check her closet. Nobody else in the house has seen her? >> No, it's just me and her. >> All right. Are you in her room? >> Okay. Have check under her bed again. This entire interaction was odd, but thankfully officers soon arrived on scene and were able to begin trying to piece together what exactly was going on. >> You call, ma'am. All right. Okay. Is this your address here? >> Okay. Hey, tell us. >> Okay. I'm I'm gonna go back just a second because I need y'all to see because this is the I'm trying not to do too much spoiler alert on this one. But Leah's grandma, you're on to it with She's Too Calm. This will to me be the most emotion she shows through this whole uh once they do their like interrogation interview they want to call it now. Um yeah. So, all right, we'll keep going. But I have to give commentary because I have to transform the content, y'all. So work with me. >> Okay. Have you had any [snorts] problems with anybody? >> No. >> Okay. Um, anything unusual? Any Okay. Uh, do you live by yourself? >> Okay. Oh, the father of the child. >> He's not in her life. >> I'm sorry. Father of the child is not >> He's in Alabama. >> He's here. >> Alabama. >> He's in Alabama. Okay. So, he's [snorts] uh any problems with anyone else as far as any custody dispute between you and him? No. Okay. All right. Has she done this before as far as anything like tried to leave or get out or mess with locks or anything like that? Okay. Show me which door was locked real quick or unlocked. Was it was it the back door? Okay. >> You recently moved in or >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Okay. And for those that haven't seen it, that's another thing to pay attention to. They asked her if she recently moved in because when they see the area, and you'll see it, they'll show it on video. Um, and that's [clears throat] important because there's more at play with a different area that's not this area. >> Why'd you move on? >> I started moving stuff. Well, I signed this back in June, but the place that kept getting breaking. >> Okay. When did you actually move in? In June or No, >> like a week ago. A few days ago. Okay. Today's uh today's Wednesday. >> Okay. >> Okay. Uh did you move in let's say over the weekend? >> Yeah. >> All right. All right. Actually, Briana and Taylor had only moved in 3 days ago on November 3rd. Apparently, since June, Briana had been paying rent on two properties. This house and an apartment across town. Police would get into the details of why she would want to do this later. because as you can see she seemed more interested in her phone. >> So you said she she does not go to school. >> She does not go to school >> and we last saw her at midnight >> when she put her to bed. Who normally takes care of her when when you're not available? >> She's with my mom. >> Where's your mom at? >> Well, I'm just saying cuz she's not in school like daycare wise. What? Where'd she go? Or >> Oh, she was with my mom. I just picked her up on Halloween. >> Halloween was actually a week ago. So she didn't exactly just pick her up. Grandma, >> that's another part that will be concerning. She was not in school and no no kind of care just at the house when she definitely is of the age to be, you know, in like a preschool thing if not actual kindergarten. I didn't catch her age again, so I didn't want to say for sure like in kindergarten, but it was odd to the police that she wasn't showing up, you know, for her days that she should have been showing up somewhere where kids would normally go while the mom's at work. Dad's not at home watching the kid. He's in a whole another state. >> What's [clears throat] dad's name? >> Tate. >> Officers managed to get Briana off her phone long enough for her to share contact details for Taylor's grandmother and biological father. Both Taylor's grandmother and biological father would need to be followed up with, but right now the focus was kept local. Law enforcement from all over the city started to arrive on Ivy Street as several of the first responders searched the house. While they didn't find any obvious evidence, they definitely noticed a few things out of place. >> Kind of odd, >> right? There's more than one gun out. >> So the guns were out. >> Yes, you see them right now. guns that are out. >> Okay. Shotgun out. Pistol out. And then there's an empty holster on the kitchen area. >> Taylor's bed, a pair of slippers, and an open box of crackers were found in one of the bedrooms. Her jacket and backpack were in the kitchen next to a pack of unopened air fresheners. Besides this though, there was nothing. No toys, no drawings, no family photos. The police likely had to wonder if this was just a reflection of the recent move or possibly something more sinister. When looking closely at Taylor's bed, police noticed a reddish brown substance on the side of the plastic headboard. A similar stain was found on the bedroom dorm. Fearing it could be blood, they did a quick field test called hemodent, which tests for the presence of mammal blood. The result was negative, but the officers would keep the stain in mind as the investigation continued. Investigators looked through every inch of the house, but didn't find the little girl. Besides being unlocked, the back door showed no signs of forced entry or other damage. Back outside with Briana, the officers thought of another place to search. >> Is this your vehicle? >> Okay, [clears throat] sorry y'all. So, obviously force entry, they're looking to see did the little girl get kidnapped, you know, taken against the mom will. Um, we obviously got to keep in the back of our head. Police are aware she has two residences and she said she moved into that place over the last weekend, but really it was only three days ago. Uh the movers are going to give us some details later that will be very interesting. Um and then the the the pack of air fresheners got me and that's going to come into play soon as well. >> Okay. Can you open up for me? Does she have a f a favorite toy or anything like that that she norally takes with her? >> Mr. Bear. >> Mr. there. >> Ma'am, do you have a recent picture of me? >> There were more signs of the little girl in the car than inside the house, including a pink unicorn in the back seat. Something about the car, though made the officer pause. For some reason, the officer felt the need to give the car a sniff test. When looking inside, police also found some cleaning products and a pair of women's sneakers covered in plant matter. They also might have noticed that while the body of the car was cluttered, the trunk was almost perfectly tidy. Unfort, >> and the shoes weren't just covered in plant matter, it was spec Oh, hold on. Sorry. It was specifically, you see the little sticker bugs, you know, that's like that, that's certain areas where you get the little sticker bugs and stuff, which I think that that's, you know, it'll be important later. But yeah, um, they said something else about the car. He's doing his sniff test. Um, also want to just point out the weapons in plain view. Um, it's one of two things. you knew your daughter going to be in that house to touch those weapons cuz they're just out and easily accessed or at when I first watched it, I'm like, did something happen with those weapons as well? >> Notice that while the body of the car was cluttered, the trunk was almost perfectly tidy. Unfortunately, the police wouldn't know the significance of this until a more in-depth search of the car was conducted. For now, it was as if Taylor had simply vanished into thin air. All units, be on the lookout for Taylor Rose Williams, Bravo Fox Trot, approximately 3 foot in height, 50 lbs. She was wearing a pink and purple t-shirt. >> Determined to find Taylor, the police launched a neighborhoodwide search effort. Ivy Street, as well as multiple adjacent roads, were taped off. K-9 units were deployed to track Taylor's scent, but were unsuccessful. Even a helicopter was used to canvas the area with an equally frustrating lack of results. An Amber Alert was sent out asking people to be on the lookout for Taylor. Unfortunately, the first attempt used the wrong name, claiming that the missing child was named Briana. This was corrected in a subsequent alert. >> This is a picture of a young lady. >> Do you remember seeing a little girl here? Never seen never seen >> I saw him the other day, but I never seen a kid. I've never seen a little girl above them. >> Huh. >> All trash pickup was halted for the neighborhood. Any refues that had already been removed was recovered from the trucks and spread out for police to comb through. This would eventually provide the most promising lead, but it was just going to take time and a strong stomach to find it. It would take >> Okay. So, we have neighbors that are saying they they never saw a little girl with her. Like, they might have seen her. They never saw a little girl with her. >> It quite a while for officers to find anything of substance as they canvased the neighborhood, though. So, for the time being, the investigation proceeded in other directions, too. Briana was brought in for an interview, and police hoped she could give them a better idea of how her 5-year-old daughter managed to apparently drop off the face of the earth. The following footage has been analyzed by a qualified team, including a licensed professional counselor, a former detective, licensed polygraph examiner, and former hostage negotiation commander and instructor, and a certified crime scene investigator, certified instructor for the state of Florida Commission on Criminal Justice Standards, and a graduate in crime scene investigations for violent crimes. Dang, they brought out the most professional, intelligent team that they could with a lot of experience. I don't blame them. This is So, for me, when I first saw the thumbnail of [clears throat] the original video, I thought she was discovering something had happened to her daughter. I didn't realize she was the one reporting her daughter missing and she may have may have done something. I thought she was getting the news that they found out something somebody did something to her daughter. So, I was caught way off guard by the time we get to this point where she's in the interrogation room. Almost immediately, it looks like she gets comfortable as if she's ready for a nap. Her daughter has been missing for hours, yet she doesn't appear panicked. Frequently, when a child is missing, a lot of officer's efforts have to go towards calming a parent down. But clearly, that wasn't the case here. This was just the beginning of Briana's strange behavior. After almost 45 minutes, detectives arrived to speak with Briana, disrupting her apparently peaceful slumber. >> Hi, Briana. We're back again. You all right? You need anything? Water or anything? You okay? You need to go to the restroom or anything? You good? You sure? All right. I'm sorry we had to meet under these stressful circumstances. I'm going to, you know, uh, Officer Whitaker with our missing person's unit, right? Well, based on the investigation, the age of your child and everything going on, they call I'm a also a detective, but I'm assigned to our our cold case unit, which also has I'm part of the CART team, which is the child abduction response team. So, and I don't want to stress you out on that. Listen to me. Look out. When she made that motion, she did not look stressed out to me. And this is before I knew everything I knew. She did not look stressed out to me with that motion. She just made a motion in my and that's my opinion. Obviously, all of this will be heavily opinionated. We're just here as you know, people that are interested in interrogation videos and true crime. I just want to explain what I do, all right? And what we're what resources, okay? I mean, nursing persons is doing an outstanding job. I'm just we are just we can extend a little bit more than that. Okay. And we have a little bit more specialty on that. So that's how I get involved because I don't we don't know what happened. Okay. We don't know what's going on. We don't know after she left out of the house what happened to her. So um this could be a criminal investigation. You understand what I'm saying? H look at me. [snorts] Listen to me. Okay. We're doing everything we can. We got everybody out there looking for her. Okay. Okay, we've got everything going, but I I want to make sure we cover everything. >> As detectives continued to speak with Briana, officers worked relentlessly and spoke with the residents in the vicinity. >> Something going wrong. >> She's missing. The little girl supposed that lives here is missing. Do you remember seeing a little girl here? >> Never seen >> Never seen the second person that said that. So, and how long have they lived there? He said, do you think just a week, month? >> I've seen her coming and going. I've never seen her physically, but I see the car here come and going like this whole weekend that passed. Nobody was here. That car was not here. >> That car just got here >> at least like two days ago if that. >> Right. >> Morning. Sorry to bother you. >> Okay. So, that tightens their timeline on when she started going to the house. And um again, no little girl in sight. >> Hey, we're looking for a little uh little girl. Have you seen five-year-old uh wearing pink and purple >> short fro? >> Never seen her before. >> No, I don't think I've seen her at all. >> After these introductions, Briana was reader Miranda rights though she wasn't under arrest. >> Okay, so Brianna, like I said, you were going to. All right, before we go on, so no neighbor, not one neighbor said, "Oh yeah, I got a glimpse of a little girl. I saw a little girl." So nobody has seen a little girl. Talked to a lot of people today. Let's just start from the very beginning. [clears throat] >> Okay. >> So, my alarm >> I can't you gotta speak a little bit louder so we can hear you. >> Sorry. My alarm went off at 5:30 and I got up like around maybe like a little before 6. Then I just went on here and started getting dressed because just me and Taylor in the house, she gets up, you know, even if we're not going anywhere, she's like, you know, where we going? Like, okay. So, I didn't bother, you know, messing with her because I know eventually she's gonna get up and start getting dressed. [snorts] And then I went over to the kitchen and then I noticed that the back door was open. I'm like, well, not open, but it was unlocked. I'm like, why is the back door unlocked? And that's when I went to her room and she wasn't in there. >> As the officers continued their interviews, one of the residents had curious information to share. He left out of here about 5:30 6:00 this morning and uh right when they started putting up the tape and all. >> Yeah, that's a black male. >> Yep. He's in his about 20s or 30s maybe late. He's been living here by himself and this place is a mess. >> Black male 20ish. >> Probably about 28. But yeah, this place is safe. >> The officer ran a background check on this suspicious individual who lived near the house where Briana and Taylor just moved. As this was happening, investigators continued to gather more information from Briana. >> It was almost 7:00. >> Okay. So then you went into her room and you saw that >> she wasn't she wasn't in her bed. >> I be under Well, she she got like a little a little baby bed, so she can't really fit underneath, but I look underneath her anyway. >> Um I checked her closet. >> Uhhuh. Then I went in my room and looked on me in my bed. I know she want to come in my room like she's I don't know like she she's very well-mannered like she's she'll knock or you know ask to come in. >> Okay. >> And [snorts] I checked in my bathroom. I checked my closet. She wasn't in there. So then I just started checking the cabinets. >> Mhm. >> And she wasn't in there either. Like okay, I'm going to go outside and I check my car just to be um you know be sure that you know I definitely didn't leave her in the freaking car. Okay. So, um, I looked underneath the car. She wasn't there either. >> Note that there's no real emotion in Briana's voice as she talks about looking for her child. >> Okay, then what? >> Yeah, I was guided there when I first watched it by the narrator, but I'm like, and I know everybody can react differently, but I'm just like, there's no questions being asked. You know, what do have y'all heard anything? Um, what else do you want from me? Do you want more pictures of her in case they just don't recognize her because, you know, she can look different with, you know, whatever. Just all kind. There's no questions. It's just I'm waiting for you to ask me a question. Okay, here's my answer. Okay, this is what I It's like, well, I think you would want to hear that I check these places. So, let me say that. That's what it that's what it seems like. >> I just I called 911. She I can't find her. >> Okay. What time did you see her before then? >> It was like around midnight. >> Rihanna said that Taylor put herself to bed around midnight. While this wasn't impossible, the late hour and Taylor's alleged independence likely struck investigators as unusual given her age. However, this was nothing compared to the strange turn Briana's story took next. Okay, before we hear the strange turn, I was about to ask as someone that doesn't have a kid. I was about to say, is it normal that you just sit up there and you don't even go try to check and wake up your 5-year-old? You just know she's going to get up at some point cuz cuz you're up and she's going to go ahead and dress herself and do all the things. And like I I get that there are some active children that will be, you know, you'll know they're they're up. But it was the way she said it as if the routine was the little girl was gonna do what she's gonna do and she'll come meet me when she's done doing what she's doing. That's how it sounded. And then now they just said unusual independence. I like Okay. Okay. >> Did you check on her prior to you going to sleep? >> No. >> Okay. So, you assume that she was asleep? >> Okay. Did you hear any noise coming from her room or anything like that? >> No. >> That's another one. You don't check on the baby before you go to bed. Kiss good night. No. No reading of the stories. We're not none of that. It's just I'm going straight to my room. She should be asleep. So I don't hear her. So she asleep >> from her room. But there were like I don't I can't explain it. Like there were like like when you're dragging something or you moving something like but it was coming from upstairs. And either way like I'll just grab my gun and [clears throat] you know walk around to make sure you know. Okay. Um, there's nobody in here >> coming from upstairs of the house that you're in. >> And if you're going with your you believe your baby is still in this house, why are you so free with these weapons with the ammo sitting right there? Probably got a little bit loaded in there as well or whatever. Why are you so free with the weapons just laying out in plain sight? >> There are no stairs. That's the part that I didn't understand. But it definitely sounded like it was coming from the roof. >> Okay. Did Did you wake up hearing this noise? >> Yes. Like the um the little whatever noise it was. It sound like like it it changes like sometimes I can hear like near where I sleep. Sometimes it's like back towards the um kitchen area. >> Okay. And it sound like dragging noise. >> Yes. It's like somebody's moving something. >> So you you're trying to tell me Okay, I'm going to try to stay calm with this. You're telling me that you are a single mom? You're kind you have your weapons, but you're kind of vulnerable and you have a little girl that's vulnerable and a dragging sound doesn't alert you. I I know [clears throat] she says that it seems like the place makes noises, but she can't be that used to that place. She only stayed there for 3 days. So, it's not like, oh, that's the house settling in. We already know what those are. So, that but also I'm like, are you making up these noises to say that this time the noise might have been something else? Don't look at me. Look at the strange noise that I just happened to not check this time. >> Walking. >> So you you said you grabbed your gun. So you have a gun. >> Grab my gun and then >> Did you check the house? >> Yes, I walk around the um open spaces that I know, you know, people come in through and I didn't see. >> Did you go outside and check? >> I didn't go outside. >> Okay. So you just checked around the house? Yeah. >> Did you go in your daughter's room at a time and look at in >> No. >> Okay. See, see, see. Some of y'all might was going to give her a little leeway with she went around the house with the gun and checked, but she didn't check her daughter's room. That's because obviously we know she knows where her daughter actually is. But you didn't you you didn't go check your daughter's room. That makes no sense. >> Briana said that she didn't see anything a miss when she searched the house and that all the doors were still locked. Still, if she was alarmed enough to arm herself before walking through the house, it makes no sense that she wouldn't take a few seconds to check on her sleeping child. Some of the officers and residents shared a similar sentiment. >> I hope they exhausted the uh the the the parental angle. >> You know what I'm saying? >> Knocking on every door we can. >> What kind? Okay. Now, >> and they just out here using all these resources, all these hours. You probably got the community out there like really keeping a strong eye out for this little girl. You doing all that. >> She was missing since midnight. >> Yeah. Purple PJ's on. The back door was probably open. >> Well, I don't check on the child. My son and grandson stay with us and my son is 36. As a habit, I go by the room and make sure he's still breathing. >> Here we go. These are the parents I know. She said, "My son 36 and I still make sure he breathing." Y'all ever hear people talk about their childhood stories, they wake up, their parents standing over them praying or they making sure they breathing. This is the parenting I know. Thank you, ma'am. >> So, um, if you heard the noise, why did you say you didn't go into her room? >> Cuz I had a gun. I didn't want to go up in there again. Um, she got bars on her window, so I just like you, you can't get in there. >> You said you don't like guns around her, but are they laid out like that? So she not normally like when she's sleeping. Yes, I pull them out cuz like I said like the place they broken into. So I sleep with my guns like right there. >> Police left the matter alone for the time being and switched to a different topic. Once again though, the conversation didn't go as they were likely expecting. >> What do you think happened this morning? >> I I don't know. Where do you think she's at? >> I have no clue cuz she she wouldn't leave. And I don't even know. Like, did they even did they find Mr. Bear? Cuz she won't go anywhere without um that thing. >> What? >> Uh this little pink teddy bear. She calls him Mr. Bear. The Mr. Bear angle was potentially helpful as it was something the searchers could keep a lookout for. By this point, police were likely realizing that something was seriously wrong. What that was exactly remained to be seen. >> Where were you staying prior to this address? >> The Southside address. >> And how long did you live at the Southside address? We were there for like a year and a half. >> Okay. And why were you why were you moving? >> Cuz I wanted to move to a different area. Like I always do this. I did this in Virginia. Like um I live in Northol. Then like a year later I moved to Virginia Beach. >> Okay. >> It's out of habit. I just like to move. >> So when was your lease up at the Southside address? >> Um in May. >> So your lease was up in May, but you but you were still living there? Yes. Um, it was up. It went to monthto month cuz I was supposed to put in a notice. They wanted a 60-day notice and I kept forgetting to put it in. >> Briana also said that as she was preparing to move to the house on Ivy Street, a large problem with the residence became evident. But I was actually like trying to prepare to move out and I went back like around the 4th of July >> like I'm to the um Ivy place and that's when I saw like the back door was open and like somebody had moved the refrigerator outside. So I called the property manager cuz I thought maybe you know he was like renovating or something. He didn't tell me but um he was like no. So he went ahead and changed the locks. >> So for 6 months you had two residents. Yes. What? Three. >> Now, as a single mom, why did she have two res? And it's not like she was subleasasing. Why do why do you have two residences? For for what purpose >> days ago made you need to move urgently if you were there for six if you had both places for 6 months? >> That was the day that I actually was like able to find movers cuz that >> and that's the question right there. Why? Why did you have to move so quickly? You've already been maintaining two residences for 6 months. So, what made it so urgent you had to get out of that old residence to this new residence right now? >> The whole issue. I was like, I didn't know um which company am I going to go for? I asking around. It was like, you know, just ask people if I work like I don't want to ask. >> But you found someone from Craigslist, right? >> Yes. >> Which you say you do everything from Craigslist. A lot of things. >> Majority. So, why hadn't you done that 6 months ago? >> Never crossed my mind. >> Police would come to find that many things concerning the investigation didn't seem to cross her mind. What they would find when they searched her other residents, too, would leave them shocked. >> So, on Sunday, you get a hold of movers. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> All right. Let's bookmark that. Sunday, she gets a hold of movers. This is a great point, Jacqueline. two residences but no child care for when the her daughter supposedly came back after on Halloween. Her daughter supposedly came back with her and she didn't have her in school, didn't have her in child care for that time. >> Did they take everything? >> Just um the the big things. >> Why didn't you if you were paying them? How why didn't they take everything? >> Oh, because it was it was last minute. I was I hadn't packed everything like clothes and stuff. Um, most of the clothes were still there. >> Okay. So, what was the urgency? Why couldn't you wait to find a mover once you had everything packed up and ready to go so that you can move everything in one go around? >> I didn't think about that. >> We're going to call the movers. We're going to call your mom and we're going to >> Yeah, that makes no sense. Well, I know. Well, for me, this is my reason why. Because of what happened at that apartment, she took the essentials and just enough to say, "Oh, my daughter's missing from the new place." and and put it put her essentials in a new place but didn't want to take that old stuff because if you've already hired movers, they're going to move things and it's a lot a lot of stuff she left behind in that other apartment. And there was no rush to have to move except for the situation she obviously has created for herself. Verify some information. Okay. You know where this is going to lead to? >> No. >> Okay. So, the movers, it was pretty abrupt. you needed to be out of that house that day. >> Okay, so they have an excerpt from her Craigslist post. She said she wasn't in a hurry. That's what she just told the police now or the detectives. Now it says on her post for Craigslist for movers on short notice to assist with the move. So she requested movers through Craigslist with moving my large furniture items from my southside apartment to the house on Ivy Street. Short notice Sunday. According to the conversation that one of my partners had with with the detective with the the movers. >> Okay. What was in like detective? What what was the urgency? >> It wasn't urgency. >> According to movers, it was I had to be out today. >> I didn't tell them that. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Nothing Briana is saying is making sense. And it's hard to believe she would think the detective would believe her, but they don't confront her yet. anybody take care. >> And no movers have a vested interest in saying the opposite of what you actually told them. They if you weren't in a rush, they most likely aren't going to remember and say, "Oh, she was in a rush." They're only going to say that if you were urging like, "It has to be now. It has to be now." Cuz cuz it it doesn't hurt them either way to say they got paid for their work. It doesn't matter. They don't know why it could be a reason you would lie about it being a rush >> of your of the 5-year-old of your daughter >> here. No. Well, she was going to the CDC on base. >> Okay. >> So, she um kindergarten and the CDC. >> When was the last time she was at CDC? >> I'm sorry if I'm asking question. >> May. >> Last there in May. >> Yeah. >> When police checked with the daycare on base, the administration office told them that Taylor had last been there on April 27th and was officially withdrawn shortly after. They also shared that Taylor had previously been in speech therapy. When police checked in with the therapist office, they likely noticed a concerning pattern. Taylor had attended regularly for 13 weeks, but then never came back. After two no-show appointments, she was discharged from the system at the beginning of May. >> And I understand she was in >> and that is highly highly concerning. She doesn't know when her la her child was last at the CDC. Um, April 27th is way far away from June. Um, also the to to not be there. Where else is she going? It's not like she was enrolled somewhere else. I you know what I mean? Like where else is your child going for her development? Then she has speech therapy which I definitely understand because this mom mumbles so much. That child I don't think would be exposed to enough of developing her own speech properly cuz this mom is mumble. I'm trying not to cover up the caption when she's speaking cuz she mumbles so much. Um, and I don't know if she had any issues beyond just not enough exposure to an adult that spoke more clearly, but yeah, speech therapy and now she's just not in speech therapy is a red red flag. It's a lot of red flags with this mom. >> Tuscaloosa. >> Yeah, she was with my mom. >> Okay. [clears throat] Your mom, who's your mom? >> Cararissa. >> Cararissa. And how long was she in Tuscaloosa? When did she go there? >> Off and on. Um she she's been there pretty much all summer actually. >> So you went down there to pick her up for and brought her back here for one day. >> It um over the weekend >> and they >> Yeah, cuz it's only um like 7 8 hour drive. Like I used to drive from Virginia to Alabama over a weekend and that's 17 hours. So >> Okay. So you bring her back on the 31st. How long was that visit? That one was since the beginning of October. >> So the full month she stayed in October with your mom Cararissa. >> And prior to you dropping her down there, October 1st or the first part of October. >> Yeah. >> When did you when when was the last time she was there? Before then? >> Like the first week of September she was here. Mhm. >> I think it whenever the storm hit. >> Would your mom be able to tell us what days when she last saw her daughter? >> That's very important. When did the grandmother actually last see the daughter? So, she said [clears throat] October 1st and then she picked her up from her mom again on Halloween. So, October 31st is what she's saying, right? And the last time Briana's saying she saw her daughter was September 1st around a storm or something. Correct me if I'm getting it wrong. She confuses me. Okay, she confuses me. But we have to keep in mind and see when was the last time the grandmother says that she saw her granddaughter. >> So I think we have her number, right? >> So if we call her, she's going to say that she saw her in the month of August. >> Okay. >> Briana had no way to know that the police had already spoken with her mother and they would confront her with what Cararissa told them soon enough. >> Okay. So when she was here with you >> Mhm. during the weeks or weekends and you had to work, who was watching her? >> Oh, no. Like when she was here, like those days that I'm off, so no one is watching her besides me. >> So since you've gotten back on the 31st, you have not been to work? >> No, I'm still on leave. >> On leave until this morning. >> How long you been on leave? >> It's been since October the 29th. 29th or 30th. the 28th. I'm not sure. You would take her to your mom every time. >> Um, I really feel like you would know your leave days. That's that seems something really regular, really practical to know your leave days, especially since this is not that far off from October 28, 29th. It's like a week or two ago at most right now. Or maybe it's longer. Maybe they've done the canvas thing and they just brought her back in. But I feel like this is close close to the time that they um searched her house and talked to her mom. So, we'll see. But I feel like you kind of know the days cuz you have the Halloween to be a bookmark. Did were you on leave a couple days before Halloween? Right before Halloween? Like there's a there's a bookmark there for you. I just She's trying to be vague on purpose in my opinion. >> Yes. Well, I just don't leave her there. That's why I was like I couldn't the back and forth I and I didn't want anybody else watching her like I don't know people here like that. >> But you were going to take her to the lady you met on Craigslist today to watch her. >> Now come on. You don't want strangers watching her. She was at the CDC but because of you she was withdrawing. The CDC on on the forts and bases and stuff is one of the you know usually one of the best places to have your child. But you were sourcing a person through Craigslist to watch your kid. And let me tell you this too, not only do you have the CDC, there's like a list that I think the military keeps for um caretakers of children in case the CDC is full. So there's like a certified list to make sure your kids going with as much as the person can be vetted and trustworthy and stuff like that. But you want to go on random Craigslist. Okay. Okay. When searching Briana's phone, police had come across communications between her and the woman she'd found on Craigslist to watch Taylor. When police followed up with the woman, she told them that Briana had texted her this morning to say her services wouldn't be needed after all. This was only one of the many discrepancies police would find in Briana's story. >> You said your hours change. So, did you change positions or your job title or what? >> No, just the hours. >> What is the norm? What is it supposed to be? Oh, I don't know the rotation. >> You don't know your rotation. You Oh my gosh, y'all. I'm so sorry. You don't know. You do know. That's how you can know what you want to ask for. You You got to stop it. You know the shifts. You know the rotation cuz usually if you're lowest on the totem pole, you get the worst of the rotations and you have something to aim for with your time in and stuff like that. These are simple questions she should be able to answer. And she still ain't asking about her little girl. I just want to point that out. just >> at work. >> Not the um duty hour rotation. >> So you don't know I couldn't you couldn't tell me right now when you were going to be on call next? >> Um do I if I had my planner I could but not no my planner wrote my phone put them in there. >> So I think Friday would be the next time I had duty cuz I was on leave. So >> standing duty was part of Briana's job as enlisted Navy personnel. This tended to be a 12-hour shift once or twice a week. The fact that Briana didn't know her duty schedule, especially since she claimed she would have had to arrange child care whenever she was scheduled, was odd. However, this pald in comparison to what police were about to >> Okay. Okay. Thank you for pointing that out. Okay. Here's her planner, y'all. Um, she had her leave days marked off. It says off day and leave for like the first um is this October? Yeah, I think this is October. So, leave. It says Alabama, Tuscaloosa, finished moving. Then the second has like Florida. Oh, she got a game on written on there. Florida, Georgia game, more leave. Um, let me see. She's trying to apply for some type of duty on the 8th. She has a CRT meeting uh at the hangar on the 21st. And then whoever T is, she has T's birthday barked off in her planner for the 23rd. Oh, and then on the notes, cuz you know we nosy. This is why we're here. We have Taylor eyes. I don't know if that would have been an eye appointment, spot check, whatever KMI or KML training is. She got to get a ribbon rack and flu shot. You know, the normal things that they have you do for medical and all that stuff. >> Reveal. They called your mom. >> Mhm. >> She hasn't seen your daughter since January. >> Yes, she has. >> Okay. Why would she say that? >> October. >> Why would There it goes. The grandmother, y'all. This is the Taylor. When she c when she called the police and when she talked to the police outside her second residence, she said, "I just picked her up from my mom on October 31st." Then they said, "Well, when was the last time your mom saw her before October?" First, she said October 1st. Then she said she as in the mom of the daughter, uh, the one we're looking at in the uniform, she said, "Oh, I had her September 1st." But now the mom hasn't seen the daughter since January of the year. That's a long time. >> She say that this is this is Cararissa. This is your mom. >> That's my mom. >> Why would she say that? >> She would not say that. In a subsequent interview, Cararissa Williams repeated what she'd told investigators that day on the phone. The implications were spine chilling. Please note that the police department made redactions to remove Taylor's name from the recording. >> So, you hadn't heard from her in two years? Hadn't talked to her >> prior to that? Yes. >> So, out of the blue in two years, she called you? >> No, it didn't go quite like that. >> Well, tell me how it went. >> Bringing in my personal business. It's hard to imagine anything more personal than a missing grandchild, but Cararissa still seemed reluctant to go into detail about what she knew. >> I want you to understand the severity of what >> and what with me wanting you to understand the severity of what's going on is I don't care about anybody's personal life. We are going to find and whatever happens, whatever gets in the way between us finally, we got to deal with it. >> Okay. Um, this is the grandmother on the phone, Briana's mother, the one being interrogated by the police. Um, Mary, are you telling me that that she said she hasn't seen her grandchild for 2 years? Is that where the two years comes from, or did I miss something else with a time frame? >> That's not a threat. That's a promise. Have you had any conversations with her about telling her commanding officer? Anything of course you if he calls you that she coming to get >> That's the part that I didn't get that she did. This was just last week. >> Tell me about that. >> Now she did call um whatever date that I want to say it was Halloween. I want to say it was actually the day of Halloween. >> So last Thursday 31st. >> Yes. She told me that if he called to tell him that she was down to pick up from me for Har. Mind you, I never I haven't seen it in two years. >> Oh wow. She just she answered it. I heard Yep. And she just repeated she hadn't seen Taylor in two years and her daughter is calling her to say if the detective calls you, if the commander calls you and just yes, let them know that I was picking her up from you on Halloween. I think the grandmother did care about the child. I think the grandfather did too. Um I can't remember the dad's. He's an out ofstate dad. I can't remember um about him if anything came out. I remember distinctly about the grandmother and the grandfather, but I can't remember about the dad. But I do think they care and I think they asked about her, but you don't have like rights as a grandparent and stuff like that. So I'm thinking like, well, okay, she just met this new guy. Maybe she, you know, took a little time off to go meet him or whatever and she just used that lie. >> Oh wow. I must have been watch I must have been listening and letting this play in the background because what they also have on here and I did not see this the first time is a fetish fantasy set. You have the I don't even know what the O-ring is used for. I don't know. But it's wrist cuffs, nylon leash, some you know BDSM type stuff. Um and the mom just said she met she might have met this new guy. Taylor didn't want to be held I mean Brianna didn't want to be held down apparently. There's nothing wrong with having this, but if your mom notes that there's a new guy in your life and just, you know, they take note for a reason. You can be an adult and do whatever you do with, you know, as long as it's another consenting adult. But the fact that they put this on here to me, it's a reason. It's not just here just to be here to get away. But I couldn't tell you. She said, so I'm like, where is Matter of fact, I asked her that day. I said, well, what what's doing? She said, oh, she in the back seat. So I'm like, okay. But she never did phone and say, "Hey, I never did say anything." >> Police followed up with the man Karissa alleged Briana had recently started seeing, particularly since Briana hadn't mentioned him, and in fact insisted that she didn't have a boyfriend. However, he didn't have much information to share. He was only vaguely aware that Briana had a daughter and assumed that the little girl had been staying with her father when he and Briana were together. When police checked with Taylor's father, Maurice, he hadn't seen the little girl lately either. All he could tell them was that the last time he did see her at the funeral for Briana's grandmother, he didn't think she was being fed enough as she was very small. He added that he had a difficult time checking up on Taylor after that though, as Briana changed her phone number frequently. >> Well, we go back to this then what Jacqueline said. Did anybody care about the child? you if your daughter your daughter is looking malnourished, you're not able to see her and her mom is frequently changing her number and you physically see that she is not looking like she should be. Did you contact authorities? Did you get child services involved? What did you do beyond I made a note and I didn't? Then I made some phone calls later, but she kept changing her number. What else did you do? Maurice provided investigators with a DNA sample and said he was willing to assist in any way that he could. Back with Briana's mother, Cararissa told police that she'd previously watched Taylor for extended periods of time, but that ended when Briana enrolled her in daycare on the naval base. The last time she'd seen the little girl in person was also at the funeral for Briana's grandmother. Police weren't ready to believe Cararissa just yet, however, due to some interesting evidence recovered from Briana's phone. I can tell you it's pinging at a tower. A tower in the vicinity of this area that it's pinging off of. What's throwing us for a loop right now is if she's living in Jacksonville. >> Mhm. >> Why is her phone ping at all? >> Despite this, Cararissa swore that she hadn't seen Briana or Taylor on Halloween. Police were still working on downloading the data from the GPS and Briana's car to determine an exact route. though soon enough they would know for sure who was telling the truth. The search of Briana's phone turned up something else concerning too. Police found a text message conversation in which Briana had told a former coworker in Virginia that Taylor had become a nightmare as she was according to her stealing food and misbehaving. >> Wow. So you were depriving this little girl of food. She was underweight enough for a dad to notice that apparently is not that involved. She's underweight and you're saying she's bad because she's stealing food, meaning she was probably starving. This is some um what is that? Mom, the passengers, eight passengers or whatever YouTube family and she's in jail right now in prison right now because she was doing that. She was starving her kids as a punishment. And when the police came to um talk to the kids and let them know it's going to be okay. It won't be like that anymore. They were so scared to take the snack that was open for them because they thought they would be punished for it later. They didn't want the person to smell it on their breath. That's how traumatized the kids were. So that's what this is giving me. Um that Bana was just trying to survive. She needed the food, right? What do you mean stealing food? A 5-year-old stealing food? Like stop. And enough to complain to somebody else and you're mistreating your daughter is wild. become a nightmare as she was, according to her, stealing food and misbehaving. In Alabama, Cararissa was so adamant of her innocence that she got Briana's father, Wayne, on the phone to join the discussion and brainstorm what might be going on. >> I don't understand why she would even lie and say that she was pick from me. >> Man, she lying. I never been in trouble a day in my life. >> She is lying. She's trying to cover up something. Not sure what it is. She is lying. >> Well, you have no idea what she trying to cover up, though. >> I have no idea what she's trying to cover up. >> That's the one thing I don't know. [clears throat] >> Someone was lying, but whether it was Briana or Cararissa was yet to be determined, as was the exact reason of why. Investigators would follow up on the Alabama lead, but as promised, also caught up with the movers Briana had hired on Craigslist. They had nothing reassuring to say either. >> They never saw you die. They never saw you put her in the car. They never saw her at the other house. They never saw her. Why is that? >> I didn't want them to see her. >> Why not? >> Because I don't know them like that. >> Well, I mean, you're not introducing her, but how did you Did you leave her at the house on Southside and then go to to to Ivy without her? >> They never saw her. >> Yeah. She's trying to play the role of I'm not trying to put my daughter in direct view of, you know, adults and stuff, but there is evidence of a little 5-year-old around when you're moving cuz they see you coming and going out the car and all this other stuff. At some point, you just going to see a glimpse of a little girl. They're not saying, "Why didn't you let the little girl hang out with the movers?" But they never saw hide nor hair of her daughter at all while they were moving her. I never saw you put her in the car. So, what happened? >> Nothing happened. >> Well, where was your daughter? >> She was with me. She's always >> She wasn't with you. >> Yes, she was. >> The two movers are saying that they never saw. They heard water running and you said that she was in there, but they never saw her. If what the movers were saying was true, it seemed like Taylor hadn't been at either of Briana's residences. Karissa said she hadn't seen the girl in 2 years, and the child care records on the Navy base showed that Taylor's attendance became spotty throughout the month of April, and she was officially withdrawn back in May, around 6 months before she was reported missing. A new horrifying question was quickly coming to the forefront of the investigation. When was the last time anyone besides Briana had seen Taylor? Shockingly, the little girl's mother wasn't inclined to help answer this question. >> And that's [clears throat] my question. I'm like, now when did she actually go missing? When did anybody else see her? That was my question. I was waiting for them to answer it, which I know they're going to, but Lord, she is so nonchalant. She is so casual. And I'm going to go ahead and say it cuz I can't hold it in anymore. The fact that she asked when can she go back to work? I was like, throw under the jail. Under the jail. If I'm missing my child, if I'm missing my my spouse and I don't know what happened, I can't work. I [laughter] I I can't function. I need to know what the heck happened. Like, where are they? >> I'm done with this. I don't want to talk. Yes, I am done. Cuz you're No, you're lying to me now. So, >> how am I lying to you? I'm not lying to you. >> You just said that. My mom said I literally picked my mom. I mean, not my mom. >> I'm just telling you what my partner said. >> And I'd like to explain to you, but Huh. I don't know where to get that from cuz I literally went down there. Um, do you want to do you want to talk to the detectives? I spoke with her and then you get that find out what the information they gave. >> I'm done with this. >> So now she moved from passive to being completely called out. So now she's indignant that they don't believe her lies. >> I don't know where this is going, but no, you're no. [laughter] Like it's the second time this happened. Like some other lady was like saying stuff that I didn't even say. like she was twisting my words like no. >> Briana has no idea that her odd behavior was quickly becoming the least of the police's concern as they were searching her apartment at that very moment. Just like they'd done at Ivy Street, police canvased the area and talked to Briana's neighbors. Disturbingly, very few of them recalled ever seeing a little girl. One man who did named Carlos Johnson said he found Taylor roaming the apartment complex unaccompanied back on April 17th, 2019 looking for her mother. He took her home only to find >> Oh wow. I missed that part. Not just now, but the first time I watched it, that one man finally said he saw her, but she was just out and about trying to find her mom under the jail >> 17th, 2019 looking for her mother. He took her home only to find her wandering the parking lot again a few days later. Carlos said that Taylor didn't appear frightened or distressed like the situation was familiar to her. He also told police that he would see her waving at him from her window at times when Briana's car was gone, suggesting to him that the little girl was alone. If police thought this was bad, then they must have been horrified when they entered the apartment itself. From the outside, Briana's apartment was unassuming and looked just like any of the others in the complex. But as soon as the door was open, it was clear that something awful had happened inside. And y'all see if you were here to see her other residence, you see the very high contrast between this residence and the one that she moved in a few days ago. >> The entryway to the apartment was filled with trash, as was the kitchen. It was so cluttered with random items and refues that it was nearly unusable. The living room was not in any better condition, having been taken over by a heaping mountain of trash and personal belongings. It seemed no effort had been made to separate the two categories. There were children's toys and clothing included in the mess, most stained with what appeared to be feces. One of the toys in particular probably stood out to police thanks to Briana's description. A pink stuffed animal was found in the mountain of refues, possibly Mr. Bear. The toy Briana said Taylor refused to go anywhere without. Police would face a heartbreaking reason why Mr. Bear was there as they searched more of the apartment. Bleach and urine remover along with more air fresheners were also found in the apartment. If police thought the living room and kitchen were in bad condition, they were in for a shock when they entered the master bedroom. Police had to move more trash and soiled belongings to even gain entry into the room. The carpet was encrusted with filth which appeared to include more human waste. When they opened the closet, the situation changed from merely disgusting to horrific. >> Just clarity later, but not it's a late day. I just want my baby home and >> and that's what we're trying to trying to do >> the whole thing cuz there's no way my mom would tell you she hadn't seen her since January. Like what? >> And that's why I'm asking you. >> Okay. >> Do you want to continue to talk to us about what's going on? >> I do not know. Not right now. And I like cuz this is going too far. My grandma. >> Okay. So, you don't want to answer any questions as to the whereabouts of your daughter? >> I don't know where she is. If I >> And I'm trying to get in the background. >> Yes or no? >> And I've told you everything that I know. Like I I don't know. You don't want to answer any more questions? >> On the way here now. >> H >> my mom is on the way here now. >> Okay. Do you want to answer talk to her when she gets here? You can talk to her when she gets >> But you don't want to talk to us anymore? >> I do not want to talk to >> Okay. >> I need to call my job. >> Well, we'll take care of that for you. Do you need anything like a bathroom or water or anything like that? >> I need to talk to legal cuz I don't want to talk to them about the least. >> Okay. Do you need water? Do you need a bathroom or anything like that right now? that you need. >> She treated her daughter worse than when you find pets and they they arrest people for how they have kept their pets in these conditions. She's treating them worse than that. And it's that same situation with that tiny closet where it looks like she she was keeping their little girl. I don't understand these parents that do this. And then you're it's not taking care of her basic needs. Um and I here's my thing. She may have some mental issues. She may suffer from depression, mania, all kinds of things. But you have to be a responsible adult enough to see you're having a problem and get it taken care of. You can't take someone else's life, your child's life, or anyone else's life because of your mental issues. You have to go get that addressed. That's not on everybody else to suffer because you won't take care of your mental issues. And looking around, you know there's a problem because you're usually most likely trying to hide your problem from others. And when she got that new boyfriend, that's probably one of the reasons for the second residence cuz she don't want him to see how she's living. And of course, you know, she didn't want to be weighed down probably by having a child and all this other stuff. But you're sitting there starving your little girl. Sometimes little girl gets out that that man, that stranger said he seemed like it seemed like the girl little girl was used to being left alone, used to being out wandering outside. This is going on for a long time. And I just wonder what else did the people from the CDC notice? Did they did they notice how underweight she was? I wish I had written down when her when this when uh Brianna's grandmother's funeral was. What month was it? Because we know April 27th was the last day for her daughter in the CDC and they unenrolled her in May. And I just want to know when was that funeral when the when Taylor's dad noticed she was underweight? Because I I just I'm just like when did she start looking malnourished? How did she come smelling to the CDC? Because usually when the home is like that, you can't get that scent out. Anything knock on the door. The detectives would revisit Briana in a bit, but went to check in on other aspects of the investigation. By this time, it was no longer just the Jacksonville Police involved in the search. They'd been joined by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, FBI, and even the Naval Criminal Investigation Service, or NCIS. Additionally, the neighborhood canvas around Ivy Street continued the whole time Briana was at the police station. Just before 10:30 p.m., officers in the area ran into a surprise visitor. >> What's your relation? >> Okay. All right. Give me one sec. In short, and the sergeant, we don't have much to say right now. >> All right. So, this is Brianna's dad, Taylor's grandfather. >> If you want, you can go down that way to our six command posts and, you know, let them know your relation. Um, but there's don't have any information where she is. >> Back at the police department, Briana was still in the interrogation room. If she was worried about her daughter or even concerned about what police might find when searching her apartment, she did a fantastic job of hiding it. >> I also wonder what kind of behavior did Briana display to her mom and dad growing up with them? like what I cuz I know sometimes stuff can happen later in life and it might could be that having the kid is the catalyst to this. This is not an excuse. It's just where it manifests where you can see it in my opinion. I just want to know how was she as a daughter to them growing up. Like did she have some disturbing behaviors that they wrote off or did this just come later when she's out the house? She was left waiting, but found a few ways to help pass the time, including fixing her nails, redoing her hair, and going to sleep. Four more hours went by, during which Briana again attempted to get some sleep in the interrogation room. >> Why am I still in here? >> They're I'll I'll get some answers for you. Um, you just kind of have to need your need your patience for now. We're all We're all kind of sitting around and working diligently. We're not really sitting around doing nothing, but we'll get some answers for you. Okay, >> my commandos. >> Yes, I do believe so. >> So, >> I've been here all day. >> I know. Just Just be patient with this, please. >> Unluckily, when a fresh set of detectives came in, it seemed 8 hours of time out hadn't made Bana any more cooperative. Hey, >> Williams. Hey, I'm just Detective De with you real quick. Um >> you Okay, so Gigi says, "One thing I want to know is how did she pass her psych test to get into service?" I don't remember taking a psych test to get in the service cuz I got to see some other people. I'm like, now when you display some behaviors that they can see at work and you do it a lot and there's a pattern, you you start getting a referral. But I don't remember one being given to get in. They just want to know were you academically good, physically good? They going to take you. So, I don't recall a psych eval. >> You're going to be free to go. However, um you're not going to be able to go back to Ivy Street or um Southside tonight. And we still have your phone. Um so, who do you need to contact or can we take you somewhere or what do you um what's the best option for you? I can get a room, but my mother is at Ivy. >> Briana never came up with any options of her own, so the police called her command, who sent a petty officer from the base to come pick her up. Notably, over a total of more than 11 hours spent at the police station, Briana never once asked for an update on the search for her daughter. When >> there's my answer on that, 11 hours. No. How's How's the search going? What have y'all found? What else do you need from me? Again, just even offering, do you want more pictures? I have some on my phone. Something. Nothing. But again, we know why. >> Briana's mother, Cararissa, heard about her daughter's lack of cooperation. She was perplexed. >> Why wouldn't she want to talk when her is missing? >> You know her better than >> some a lot of Well, I I can't even say some of the thing. A lot of the things just not adding up to me. >> Okay, we can agree on that. Investigators also asked Cararissa some questions about Briana's personality in general to see if it would help make sense of her odd behavior. >> How does she is is she like an emotional person [clears throat] your mom >> is she shut down? Does she feel like it's getting too much for >> No, I'm just saying if something traumatic happened, is she one that's going to show emotions? Use example. Your your mom was feeling how was she doing wrong? >> Well, she didn't cry. >> She didn't cry. >> No. Briana was reportedly very close to her maternal grandmother, who had raised Briana for a large portion of her childhood. The fact that Briana did not express grief at the time of her death, may have stood out to police as eerily similar to her behavior in the interrogation room. Investigators also learned that Briana was known to visit her grandmother's grave site in Alabama regularly. So regularly, in fact, that more than one friend suggested the police search that area for Taylor, too. And that's exactly what they did. Over the next week, the search expanded from Jacksonville, Florida to the area surrounding London, Alabama. Before Cararissa's interview concluded, police had one last question for her. Probably the hardest one yet. >> If she did something like that, what she tell you? >> That's why I wanted to talk to you. >> The investigation continued on for the rest of the week. The mounting evidence police collected was far from reassuring. None of it, however, led them to Taylor. growing. >> Okay. So, now they're moving to Alabama. So, yeah, the grandmother's in Alabama. And when I say grandmother, I mean Taylor's grandmother, but also like I said, Brianna's grandmother that passed away is also in Alabama. Her grave site is. So, they moving they moving the search to Alabama now. And which they were going to do, I think, anyway, once they access the GPS on her car. Desperate police decided to try talking to Briana a different way since Briana's father Wayne had been cooperative so far. Detectives asked them to make a controlled call to Briana to see if he could learn anything. It didn't go well. >> Yeah. I've been thinking and I was wondering is there anything you can do? Do you anything you remember anybody looking wrong or anything? You know somebody might have >> know everything I know. >> They know everything with your phone. I mean, even other than that, but they know everything I know. >> And just to orient everybody, Brianna's on the phone with her dad now. Dad's trying to talk some sense to her. Get her to to let them know something cuz obviously I'm sure he doesn't want to believe that she actually did something to her daughter. >> Okay. What's What's in your phone? >> Like what would >> I don't have anything extra. >> Like literally have everything >> like what we need to find. We have >> I'm saying if you tell me that I can call them. You see what I'm saying? I still got detect the number down the K number. I can call him tell him what to look for in your phone. >> But how am I supposed to know what to look for on my phone? >> Yeah, but I thought >> I don't want to talk about this right now. I'm trying to go to sleep. >> I don't want to talk about this right now. I'm trying to go to sleep. Daughter's missing. >> I don't know what else to tell y'all. Y'all keep calling me and asking me the same words over and over again. Like, trust me. Briana's annoyance raises a host of red flags. What she did next though stood out the most. >> You said everything is in your phone, but what can what else can they do to find? >> I don't know. >> Yeah, but hung up on me. I can't believe she hung up on me. >> Police had better luck when they recruited two of Briana's closest friends, Chelsea and Dorelle, to also try and make a controlled call. >> Hey, how you doing? >> Okay. >> You just been resting today? >> Yeah, I ain't going anywhere. go out of war. >> She said anything to you today? >> No. She called and asked if I needed something to come upstairs. >> You ain't talk to your dad? [laughter] >> Uh, no. >> No. >> Did he go back? >> Yeah. >> Is your mama going to come? >> I have no clue. >> You're so quiet. You miss us already? >> No. [clears throat] >> You don't miss us? [laughter] >> That messed up, bro. Just because you [laughter] had the damn >> anything been on your mind today. >> You had anything on your mind today? >> No. >> With Taylor's disappearance so fresh in everyone's minds, there had to be a reason that the case wasn't weighing on Briana, as was becoming typical. She didn't seem inclined to share what that reason was. Like >> I just want to say too for the people I'm friends with that have younger kids. I don't even have to ask. I know what's going on with their kids because they're active parents. It just naturally either comes in the conversation. It's just evidence of it in their lives. I never have to wonder like, oh, I haven't heard about such. I've always heard about them because the parent is so active in their lives. So, and her they're they all look young. So they maybe not they haven't had a lot of exposure to a lot of people with kids yet and stuff like that as well. But I do wonder how did she interact with her friends? What was she like around them? How often did they get to see Taylor before Taylor disappeared? Did they ever see Taylor looking underweight and have a concern? I just wonder every adult that has come into contact with Taylor that would kind of know her enough besides the stranger that saw her wandering around. Um what did they like? And I just don't understand how Taylor's dad didn't contact authorities when he saw that she looked underweight. Like just especially once once you try to talk to Bana, the mom, and she's changing her number on you. Well, I tried to talk to you, so it's time to go another route now. Um, but I just wonder how did how did Taylor look to them if they ever got to see Taylor? Did they just hear Taylor's name and assume everything's good? Which as somebody doesn't have kids, I'm not trying to see your kids. is I'm just, you know, but I naturally always hear about my friends kids and stuff like that. >> Ain't no like coverage on Taylor no more. Like everything kind of like died down like we like super kind of nervous that they just kind of mental like people done forgot like basically they just um like they moving on in the world and >> what they just going to forget it. we need you to say something because like that's the only thing I feel like that'll bring like some light back to her story soon. We really just want to know just what's going on. We still like you know we going to be there for you. We want to be there too. We want to know what's going on for that closure. >> I don't even look on. It ain't been You ain't heard nothing? >> No. Like nobody talks to me. Like the only time I got a call for me is like what y'all doing? I'm doing I don't know. I'm pretty sure my chief doing it to make sure I'm not all myself cuz he calls like very randomly. People come knocking on the door like, "Oh, you're not who I'm living for." Bro, you know what room this is? Like don't do that. >> Yeah. >> Especially you the PO too. Like you're the um you know the duty person. And this whole time, her daughter is still missing at this time. Whole time. Yeah, >> I know why you here. Don't act like, you know, you just popped up here. >> Time would soon reveal that the Navy command had been more on top of things than anyone could have imagined. Briana's co-workers weren't the only ones who'd been attempting to check up on her. >> Did your mama come down there? Because she had told us that, well, she had told your daddy that she was coming down there yesterday. She been coming since Wednesday. >> Somebody say she been coming there since the day that it happened. But like she just >> I'm giving up on her. Like I don't know what the hell going up. >> I think you might need to ask her like why y'all story is different. Like why you saying that if she you know she really was here? >> Why? Like what what that's about. You need to ask her that. >> You think I'm going to get a >> I don't know. But you you you don't want to at least want to know why she's saying >> like why what is her reason? >> I mean I do but do y'all really believe she going to tell the truth? She haven't told the truth yet. >> I don't know what her what her reasoning is for this to keep the lie going for so long cuz >> I mean it's too late now. She can't backtrack. >> Chelsea and Dorelle then ask Briana about the possibility of there being evidence in the apartment she left when she moved to the house on Ivy Street. Before we get to that section, it's crazy that I feel like, and I don't know if she was understanding, she was framing her mother, but she basically framed her mom when she was like, "Oh, my mom had her on Halloween." And her mom didn't. So, her mom like she could have caused the little girl to go missing. Then you have um now you you're mad at your mom for not contacting you whole time. You're the reason her granddaughter is missing. Do you think it's something maybe in the old apartment that they'll find that'll help like? [laughter] >> Cuz if they did, they would have found it. Remember, they have closed off those been closed off for what? 3 days, 4 days, almost a week. >> Police had in fact found shocking evidence in Briana's apartment, specifically the bedroom closet. Briana had to have guessed what they'd found, but still chose to remain silent on the matter. >> So, Brianna >> Mhm. You hadn't thought about like her just being out there by herself. You know she's scared of everything like that. You don't think about that? >> I don't want to talk think about that right now. >> I mean, well, I've been thinking about it. >> Okay, then don't think about that. >> It's cold. That's kind of why I just I think I can't sleep knowing that it's you know how innocent she was. Like she really cling to the people she know. I think that's why it's eat me up so much. Hauntingly, Briana's only response was silence. >> If he think it's a good idea, would you be okay talking to detectives again? >> Yes. >> Yes. The same ones or you want some new ones? >> Oh, hell no. Not that lady. >> Okay, bro. That's what I was going to ask you. Now, >> talk to that lady. >> Based on Briana's lack of cooperation and some other concerning evidence that would be addressed soon, police decided to place her under roundthe-clock surveillance. It didn't take long for this to pay off. Early on November 11th, just 5 days after Taylor went missing, Briana was seen donating some of Taylor's belongings. >> You got to be effing kidding me. I was Okay, cuz y'all I I was like, how long has it passed since she notified the the authorities and we got into this day that they talking about? They're telling me 5 days. You know what you did? And that's and see that's that's that thing. You you moving according to having the knowledge of what you actually did. How are you donating your daughter's clothes? So, you didn't have hope of her coming back or being found cuz you knew what you did. But wow. Wow. Cold blooded. >> This included stuffed animals, clothes, and even some unopened packages of toys. Around the same time, the efforts of all the officers digging through countless heaps of trash finally paid off. They stumbled upon a box addressed to Briana along with certificates from the Navy with her name on them. This wasn't what they were most interested in, however. Also in the trash were several notes from the daycare center on the Navy base requesting a change of clothes and a toothbrush for Taylor. In the trash, police also found several art projects, which police assumed had been made by Taylor. One of the projects was a handmade card from Taylor to her mother. Why Briana didn't want these items, especially when her daughter was missing, was a mystery. There was also still the issue of what was discovered in the closet in Briana's apartment. To say it was disturbing would be a massive understatement. One of the first things investigators noticed was a foul odor emanating from the space. It was impossible to say if this was a result of more feces found inside or the mysterious stains covering the walls and carpets. It seems a minor effort had been made to control the smell by sprinkling baking soda on the rug. Police took multiple DNA swabs from the inside of the closet, collecting samples from the walls, floors, and each stain. It would take time to receive DNA results. So, they also conducted a field test to determine if any of the stains were human blood. Dismayingly, while the swabs didn't immediately indicate blood, many of the stains on the walls reacted when sprayed with luminol. Fearing the worst, police opted to have a cadaavver dog brought to the apartment. However, the smell of feces and trash was so overwhelming that the dog was unable to effectively alert. Police resorted to ripping out the carpet from the closet and taking it outside. In the fresh air, the dog was much more effective and alerted on the carpet right away, indicating that at least some of the stains came from human remains. This wasn't the only area that got a response. When cadaabver dogs were brought to Briana's car, they alerted in no less than three areas: the driver's seat, the rear seats, and trunk. When police took a closer look at the trunk of the car, they noticed that there was an unknown whitish residue on the interior. They also found a broken fingernail and an air freshener jammed into the trunk lid, which likely came from the package found in the Ivy Street house. The vehicle had a pervasive scent of cleaning chemicals. Despite the car wash, they also located some reddish dirt on the underside of the vehicle that matched the soil on the dirt road in Alabama. There was now no way to deny it. This was no longer a missing person's case, but rather an investigation into a death. Briana's mother had feared this outcome. all along. >> This woman is so evil. She is so evil. It's not enough to torture your child. Starve them. Leave them to the elements to strangers. Let her wander around. I feel like locking her in a closet. It's not enough to do that. Have her living amongst her feces and urine and everything else. It's not enough. And and like y'all said, her grandparents are alive. Her father is alive. If you felt that overwhelmed, why didn't you hand over custody? Why instead take the torture this little girl and eventually like take her life? Why? >> I want your own opinion on what you think is wrong. >> Okay. To be honest, I think she flipped the switch. >> What would make her flip the switch? She had problem. I never witnessed it. >> Are you aware of it though? Whether you witness it or not? >> Mhm. >> You aware of it of her having 10 problems even though you're saying you haven't witnessed or you aware that you have one. What make you think you switch? >> But I would say just speaking with her dad. >> The way the mom said that, I'm like, no, that was a very specific phrase to say you think she flipped the switch. like you've seen her mentally go off on off on and then like that when he was saying do you even though you didn't witness her losing her temper are you aware that she would lose her temper like that is a very valid question to ask and why did you phrase it that way and I still and now the mom I don't think she had anything to do with this little girl dying I don't think that I just think that she's still protecting her daughter in a way by not just describing some actions and behaviors that she's had in the past I'm saying He [clears throat] just told me. >> No, he just said, you know, she gets angry at like the simple things. He just asked her to tell >> his girlfriend, "Thank you." And she got so mad that she just blocked her on all social media. He needed to stop talking. >> Police plan to place Briana under arrest on November 12th following a final gruesome discovery. The charges she faced at this time were child neglect and providing false information to law enforcement officials. Her chief was sent to pick her up on base and bring her to the police station for booking. However, no matter what he may have expected, what happens next is so shocking it must have shaken him to the core. >> You know what? I was going to say something, but for those that haven't seen it, I'll let you I just need you to experience it how you see it for the first time. So, I'll say something after that. >> Hate watching bad news, stuff like that on the news, and I hate going back and forth with it, everything's going on. Um, but you know, now they're saying that you're a person of interest now. I mean, [ __ ] Open the door. Open the door. Oh, you all right? Try some napkins or something. You okay? >> I don't know why they take a second. We're out. It was quickly becoming obvious that something was wrong with Briana, but the chief could not have possibly predicted how dire the situation was about to become. >> I don't know why. I'm all I don't know why exactly they would say something like that. You need to go back to your room and lay down or anything. Hey, you got to say something. Say something. You need [snorts] to go medical. Where is she? Are you okay? Wait. You need to go to medical. You want me to take You want me to be taking medical? >> There was only so long the chief could wait for a coherent answer before he decided he needed to take action. And it wasn't a moment too soon because what was coming would likely stay with him for the rest of his career, if not his life. Sorry. Take take it to the ER. All right. Oh, you not Williams. Williams. Williams. Williams. Talk. Talk to me. Williams, talk to me. >> Just minutes later, as the pair were in route to the hospital, the worst happened. Close. Same. Close. Same. Pulse. Oh. Oh [ __ ] No. No. No. Oh my god. Oh my god. Ah. Come on. Oh, [ __ ] No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No, no, no, no, no. You're not going to go. No, no, no, no, no. [ __ ] Come on. Come on. You ain't gone on me like that. Come on. Shot. The chief arrived at the Navy base emergency room just moments after Briana's massive seizure, and she was still deemed to be in critical condition. There was only so much the doctors could do without knowing what was wrong with her. Briana slipped into a coma and was placed on life support. Her condition was determined to be unstable. While Briana's fate was up in the air, elsewhere, other questions pertaining to the investigation were finally being answered. police. >> Okay, since we got past that point, I'mma tell you what. I'm with uh I'm with y'all. Cowards move. Weak weak way to get out of it. But you but but you tortured that little girl. You harmed that little girl, but you want to go before the police can get to you. >> Police finished downloading the GPS data from Bana's car. It confirmed what they suspected based on her phone. >> I'm I'm sorry. And this is the This is here, right, too? She traumatized that her chief that man has to live with that not knowing if he was going to get her there on time. Then she in a coma. How was she doing? Did he, you know, thinking did I act in enough time? All the torture and all that that you done put on him in his mind cuz you wanted to do what you did. And they going to reveal how she did it too and why she went into the seizure. But bas Yes. Coward's way. She tried to take the coward's way. And I I'm saying that for someone that took somebody else's life and then they try to do that. I don't mean it in a sense of like someone that took their life and they didn't harm anybody else. I'm not calling them cowards. That I I it is so many reasons that that happens. I am not at all. I'm saying that she tortured a little girl, harmed that little girl, and then try not to face the consequences of it. She is a coward for that reason. >> Records showing that she had made three back and forth trips to the Lynen, Alabama area between October 31st and the very early hours of November 3rd. Police retrieved video of Briana getting gas along the route she took, though it was impossible to tell if Taylor was in the car with her due to the vehicle's tinted windows. They also found evidence that Briana had stopped at a car wash on November 4th. Security footage from the business didn't show anyone else in the car with her. Most significantly, the GPS proved that Briana's mother, Cararissa, had been telling the truth. The GPS showed that while Briana had gotten close to her mother's residence, she had not driven there. I was very thankful for Briana's mom that the GPS showed that cuz she was not involved in my opinion in what Briana did. >> It also showed that on her final trip to Alabama, she'd spent almost 20 minutes on an out of the way dirt road and wasn't far from the cemetery where Briana's grandmother was buried. Obviously, police wanted to know why and assembled a search team consisting of police, medical professionals, and dogs to go and search just outside Lynen, Alabama for themselves. The area was divided into quadrants to be excavated and sifted through. While a cadaavver dog searched the area, it didn't take long for the investigators to uncover some tragic results. Partially buried in a shallow grave, police found a trash bag wrapped in a shower curtain containing a children's t-shirt covered in decomposition stains. But it was about to get worse. Just yards away, the first bones and bone fragments were found. Most of the skull was found a short distance away along with a clump of human hair that might have been Taylor's. The remains had been scattered and seriously damaged by animal activity. As a result, police were only able to recover a small portion of what they suspected to be Taylor's body. However, they would have to wait on DNA testing to prove it since the remains were almost completely skeletal. Police were pretty sure about how the body came to be in Alabama, but the only person who could confirm their theory was Briana, and she remained in critical condition. A search of Briana's quarters on the Navy base led investigators to believe that Briana had ingested laundry detergent. Once they knew what they were treating her for, doctors were able to more effectively intervene and saved Briana's life. Once she was discharged from the hospital, she was brought back to the police station and given one more chance to tell her side of the story. >> Yep. Save her life so she can face her consequences. >> Right here. >> You drink coffee? Anything? You want coffee? Soda, water, nothing. Okay. Just like before, Briana quickly made herself as comfortable as possible and appeared to try to go to sleep. This time though, she only had to wait about 20 minutes before detectives came in to talk with her. Good morning. I need to set up some paperwork again. Okay. Then I'm going to go over the rest of your rights with you. Okay. And I want you to just acknowledge that you understand. You do not have to make a statement or say anything. You understand that? I'm going to need a yes or a no. Okay. Is that a yes? Okay. >> The det. >> Here we go with that mumbling BS. >> Detectives advised Briana of the rest of her rights once again. >> Hey, Briana, did um the nurse assist you with your throat issue that you were telling me about at the hospital? A >> little. A little bit. Does it feel better today? not complete. I just normally just quiet all the time. Just real low key. Don't do a lot of talking. I am too. I'm kind of shy. Can you tell? Can you tell? All right. First, we need to have a good conversation. So, I'm going to need you to sit up from that thing over there. Stop leaning on that wall and talk to me. Okay. >> So, he got he he [laughter] for a millisecond said, "I'm going to try to relate." And then he just went straight authoritative, which I don't mind. Get her straight to the point. see what you can get and keep it moving. >> Look at me when I'm talking. We've had an investigation going on for a while. Our investigation has led us to some things in Alabama. Okay? And what we need to do today with you is we need to talk about what's going on out there. Now, where in Alabama are you from? That's an easy question. We see how this is going to go. Are you from Alabama? Is that a yes? You got to say yes or no to me. Okay. I can't have head dialogues and we can't have misunderstanding. Are you from Alabama? >> I don't want to talk. >> You don't want to talk? Okay. >> Tired. >> You're tired. You don't want to talk. So, you don't want to talk to the police at all? >> Okay. >> With that anticlimatic end to the interview, Briana followed her pattern of behavior throughout the case and went back to sleep. Ultimately, police didn't need Briana's cooperation in order to answer their remaining questions. 4 days after this failed attempt to speak with Briana on November 25th, DNA testing proved the remains found in the Alabama woods belonged to Taylor. As a result, Briana was now facing charges of murder. Due to the poor condition of the remains and the fact that the searchers were only able to recover about 10% of Taylor's skeleton, it was impossible to determine a cause of death. However, analysis of her tooth enamel and skull showed evidence of serious malnutrition, >> which again Taylor's dad saw and I will not understand just just light intervention anonymously reporting you. There's so many complications with uh the dynamic between adults that I get you might not want to be loud and proud, but I didn't hear them say one time CPS had been notified of any reports in this little girl's history. Anonymous report something. Do something. This is your child. They also couldn't provide an exact time of death and were only able to say that the little girl had passed anywhere from several weeks to several months ago between May and November 2019. Given that the rate of decomposition is dependent on the size of the human and environmental factors, decomposition can start as early as 24 hours after death or as late as 72 hours after death. In conditions where the body isn't exposed to the sun and is in a climate controlled environment, it would take at least four weeks for the body to begin to skeletonize. In this particular case, Taylor was a small malnourished child and covered with a plastic shower curtain. This would slow down the rate of decomposition by locking in moisture and protecting the remains from bugs and direct sunlight. The issue of knowing the rate of decomposition in this case is the variable of animal activity which could expose the remains to the elements at different rates. If her remains had no indication of animal activity were wrapped in plastic and placed in the shallow grave shortly after time of death. It could take over 30 days to begin to see skeletonization. It's a very real possibility that the little girl starved to death, locked in a closet by her mother and left to waste away in filth. That's what it feels like to me. I feel like it was a passive killing of her child. I feel like I mean it's still active cuz she did it, but you know what I mean? Like it wasn't blunt force. It wasn't this. I feel like the little girl just couldn't make it anymore. >> Reason for the stains on the closet walls would remain a mystery, though, without a determined cause of death. In September 2022, Briana plead guilty to seconddegree murder. Though her attorney repeatedly requested she face a reduced sentence due to her exemplary military record, she was sentenced to life in prison. Though we're incar, if anything, if she has so much energy and effort into becoming an exemplary military member, some of that energy and effort should have been transferred to taking care of her child. How why would she be rewarded for that? And I know they do that all the time, but I don't understand pointing that out to not not for the narrator, but you know what I mean, the the attorney like, so then she had plenty of energy to take better care of her daughter. >> Incarceration will do nothing to bring her daughter back. At least justice for the innocent little girl was served. >> Okay. Well, that was one that y'all also sent me. And um I've tried to save the trigger warning ones for just anytime other than the morning. That's I'm trying to keep it a little safe space for the ones that are like I just want the light content. I don't want all that. But um for us and I see that we do have a lot of the same um algorithm and and interest in true crime stuff. So that's this kind of for us and everything. But yeah, I [sighs and gasps] for sure for sure I am disappointed with that girl's dad. Obviously, Brianna herself, that's why she was sentenced. Um I would I I just don't I don't know the CDC when she was unenrolled but didn't change addresses. I wonder like is there protocol to kind of notify like hey there's been some irregular attendance and now we had to disenroll her. Is there any like like do you is that something maybe in the future they could better put a policy in to notify the commanders like hey can you just do a wellness check? This is this is not normal for for parents that have children that go here. So this is this is a bit of a concern that we had to unenroll her cuz she just was spotty in her attendance and she has speech therapy. You don't abruptly stop speech therapy for any good reasons. You usually phase out of it maybe. So yeah. Did they say how much time she got? Usually [clears throat] this channel will say it. I don't know if they say how much time she got. >> [sighs] >> Hold on. I'll I'll check. What's her last name? Yeah, Williams. Hold on. Let me see cuz I don't remember. I saw the charge, but I don't remember the time. Oh my god. Everything wants to wants you to pay them for an article. Like, nobody's paying you for articles. Oh, life. Okay. Okay. Thank y'all. They said life. Okay, I appreciate that. In this day and age, why people try to get you to pay for articles? I don't even know. I don't even know. But I will have more for y'all. My weekend has started. Um I don't have too much going on even around the holidays. I'm going try to see uh I'll try to see y'all pretty frequently over the Christmas break and everything as well and over this weekend. So yeah, y'all will be hearing from me. So yeah, she got life. Thank y'all cuz y'all are somebody's they're saying it very um confidently that she got life. All right, I will see y'all later. Talk to you later.
