Before [music] you press play, [music] look close. This one can cut deep. Real people, real [music] pain. More than you want to see. Young faces in the frame. [music] that broke apart. Hands raised in the dark and the bruise on the heart. [music] If you came for then take a [music] second now. Once it starts, it stays on your screen somehow. >> Trening as pointing [music] as on point. Heavy in the air. >> Trening at some point. [music] You been warned. >> Trending at some point. >> Don't look if you're torn. [music] Body cams. Hard truth. No filter on the ground. [music] Some nights in sirens, some in a final sound. So if your mind is tired, if your chest runs thin, [music] know what you're stepping into before it begins. [music] If you came for shock, then take a second now. [music] Once it starts, it stays on your screen somehow. [music] >> That's on point. >> Handle with care. Trending at some point. >> Heavy in [music] the air. >> Trending at some point. You've been warned. >> Trending at some point. >> Don't look if you're torn. [music] Slow down. Breathing. >> Don't call it entertaining. [music] >> Not every truth is easy. >> Not every frame is safe to change. [music] >> [music] [music] >> Trending on point. Handle with care. Trending on point. [music] Heavy in the air. Let me make sure y'all can hear me first. Let's be sure. Okay. I think Are we good? We good. Thank you, Teresa. Okay. So, as you can see the banner running at the bottom, this is going to be about domestic violence and one person is for sure killed. So, trigger warning, trigger warning on that. Um, I'm focusing on the stalking part. Well, I'm focused on the stalking, but obviously it's also going to be someone that loses their life. But, I did want to start putting something up there like I need more people to take stalking more seriously. There's a reality show that I used to watch. I still follow the main person that used to be on the reality show and her ex-husband in my opinion is a stalker. He showed up to places that he was not invited to a lot off the show too in case somebody wants to say it was staged for the show in production. So [sighs and gasps] I just keep thinking about that and I'm not wishing anything happens. I am saying that I wish people even if they didn't like somebody could still recognize that something bad could happen to a person they don't like cuz that other person that they do like is still a horrible person. So that that's one thing. But also we already already watched these um more serious ones in the evening a lot of times. So first of all I'm going to play this right before we watch each of these videos because I know people are gonna come in at different times. This is 3 minutes, but at the beginning, I'm only going to play the uh like a few seconds of her, like a minute out of the three minutes, and then by the time we get to the main video, I'm going play the full thing. But I need people to understand stalking is not a joke. It is a preliminary action to me. So, and not just to me, to this criminal behavior analyst. So, all right. So, here we go. >> You describe stalking as murder in slow motion. Why do you use this phrase? I describe stalking and coercive control, the two together, as murder in slow motion, because you get a drip drip drip before the most serious event. And often with the murders, when you look back, you see so many opportunities to intervene and prevent. One of the cases that really changed my perception and changed my life was the murder of Cla Bernell in Harvey Nichols in 2005, and she was shot dead on September the 13th. I still remember it like it was yesterday. >> All right, but when we get to the main video, I will play her full thing. I just don't want to overload the people that are be here the whole time. But all right, we have seen this ex before, but thank you. I think I don't want to say the wrong name, but it was sent to me with Sergeant Curtis's POV at it, and they said it was really good with his POV. So, although we may have watched this together, we did not watch it with Sergeant Curtis's comments. So, I would like to see what he says. I did not watch it ahead of time um with his commentary. So, we're watching this together for the first time. So, let's see what he has to say about this. And this one does not end, as far as I know, well, in the video, it doesn't end in anything deadly. It's just his his actions are still concerning. So, this first one, you'll be okay for this first one. It's not this is not the one. So, all right. >> You are not welcome to be here. You are now stalking this family. >> No, I'm not. JJ, look at this. Look at this. You going to beat me up? They got into love and die. >> Every police officer will tell you that throughout their career, there is one element or segment of policing that they're very passionate about. For me, like many other officers, it's always been children and making sure that they are safe. Sadly, in many situations, we find that domestic type situations can cause children a lot of different challenges. And if the parents just can't get along and the police end up showing up, sometimes things escalate to a point where one of the parties has a confrontation with the officers, ends up in handcuffs, and heads to jail. This is one of those. No, do not do this to him. >> What are you doing? >> Come talk to me over here. Not in front of them. >> Be an adult and come over here. >> I don't trust you. >> Okay. >> Okay. You're not supposed to be here. >> I'm an American. This is my record. >> It's not your day to be here. We're filing another stalking complaint against this location. >> Okay. And I'm going to tell you, who am I stalking? >> All of them. >> Who? I'm allowed to see my children. It's not >> on your day. >> Folks, judge, for the record, I'm here. I'm here to see my boys. He's going to baseball. I'm going I'm going to be there and you're not stopping me. >> If you rename this man Martell Hol and put him and put some melanin on him, there's a lot of similarities. And again, I'm going say in my opinion because the people over there get real sue happy. But if you follow the things, you have seen him crash out. You have seen him be where he should not be and he's uninvited. You have seen him bearing down on his ex. You have seen a lot of things and a lot of these and manipulating the kid. You've seen a lot of things >> here. I'm telling you, >> I've been on a lot of these different ones and these are very, very delicate situations to deal with. The safety of all parties involved, especially the children, is paramount. And you can see in the foreground there is a child that the looks like the dad is referring to as he's pointing his camera. So, this is something I definitely going to take into consideration as I watch this. >> You way outside your bounds. >> You are not welcome to be here. You are now stalking this family. >> No, I'm not. >> I am telling you that you are stalking them. Take me to jail. >> You need to leave. >> I'd rather you just take me to jail. I'm here playing football with my son in the street. >> Today is not your day to be here. >> This I'm allowed in this street. Tell me the reason I can't be in this street right here. Stalking would be like that. >> Stop. Notorious. >> Stalking covers. This is the lawyer just blatant outright. I'm here. I'm not I'm not hiding it. I'm stalking. >> I'm telling you to leave. >> Okay. So, here the officer and I'm guessing it's the dad are in this contentious interaction. And word choice from the police professional's perspective is incredibly important because people can sometimes be difficult. And in this case, the officer's word choice, I'm going to show you some other options because there's some things that stood out about what the officer said. The officer continued to say, "You need to leave. You need to leave. You're not welcome. You are now stalking this family, separating him from his family in just words." And I'm not saying that this dad is doing the right thing. I don't I'm just started watching the video. But word choice can definitely play a role because if the male feels emasculated in this situation, it's not going to end well. And so having other word choices as opposed to you need to leave, you need to leave. And then the other thing is, can we possibly do this away from where we have all these different people watching, especially the kids >> because you are stalking these people and you're going to end up going to jail. >> Okay, I'll let you take jail and I want this on the record. I want my kids to see this. Hey guys, >> you want your kids to see this? No, I do. >> You do not want your kids. >> I'm here playing with my son, okay? Okay, I'm going to follow them to baseball and I'm going to until the minute they leave, I'm going to stay right here and and then I'm going to baseball and I'll be back at that house on Friday and I'm going to be be prepared to go to court for this. Okay, I'm not doing this >> because you're infringing on my rights as an American. >> I am not I'm telling you to leave these people alone that you are stopping. >> You You don't have right to tell me not to go my children. Okay. >> I am telling you to leave >> the police next time. Maybe I'll have a better chance in court. >> I have filed multiples on you. No, you didn't. And I will file more. >> Do you have children? Are you married? >> Why does that matter? I'm just curious because I Your demeanor leads me to believe you >> that then that's that rhetoric. Uh I who Oh, who's the who is the version of Kevin Samuels for them? He recently kind of lost a lot, but at first he was it was a bald dude. He was everywhere and everywhere. Everybody was following him. Oh, I'mma look him up and try to remember his name. If I type Red Hill, it's going to autofill his name. But he seems like he he follows that type of person because what does it matter if this woman that is doing her job in her uniform is married to anybody, let alone a man, and if she has birth children or not? What does that have to do with you and her performing her official duties? No. >> So, you're a very frustrating human being to deal with is why we keep going over this. >> It's because I keep telling you to leave this family alone. Leave alone. Leave her parents alone. And you are still here. Leave this family alone. Now, in this man's mind, it's his family. Leave this family alone. And I'm not suggesting that this male is handling this properly. What I'm suggesting is that there are often times word choices that can work better. Another pro tip under the circumstances that I think could be helpful is to again call the dad away and address the kid by name. And say, "Hey, you know, whatever his name, Tim, everything's okay. Just talking to your dad over here. Everything's going to be just fine." And send the kid away. And my main focus is making sure that the kid is doing You know what I'm thinking about as I'm doing this? I have a friend who is a psychiatrist who actually works at the detention center and he has extensive experience in this. I've never done this before, but what I think I'm going to do is after I watch this, I'm going to try to call him and see if he's available and can maybe give a little insight on this cuz he's a true professional and I think it would be helpful in this kind of situation. And to the young aspiring officers, I guarantee you will handle calls like this. Every officer has handled many of them. The sanctity of the kids is paramount here. That's what you have to think about when you're the officer on the scene because sometimes the adults are not going to act like adults. For the record, anytime I'm here or at that house when I have not been able to talk to my kids on the phone, you are welcome to tell me and ask. >> What you do if you cannot reach your children, you call the police and we will make contact with them and make sure they're okay. >> I'm going to come here. Do not come here. I'll come here and call you. >> I'm going to call I'm going to call the police when I before I have I'm going to tell them. >> And tell us what that you're stocking. No, I'm not stocking. I'm coming to spend time with my children. >> You're not allowed to today. >> Got to the point where you've been trespassed from all this property. You've been trespassed from that property. There's obviously >> JJ on this buddy. The top is >> reasonable to believe that she doesn't want you here. They don't want you over there. >> I mean, shoot my son. I haven't talked to her. >> This is classic. The dad is yelling out to his son. This is showing his degree of authority. And this happens very frequently that he wants to show that he's still the dad. I think it's a good idea that the officer's tapped out because sometimes if one officer is not getting across to a person, tapping out and letting another officer engage the person may be a better thing. I also noticed that the female officer had a tactical bun. Very good stuff. This is one of those calls that you really just it just happens so frequently. >> You guys have the court order in place for a reason. Okay. >> And she's not. >> And when a person doesn't abide by the court order, the proper procedure is to go to court and follow up with it with your lawyers. Okay. You showing up. >> Hi, Rosie. Hey. >> Random places. >> Hey, I'm trying to come see you guys cuz I can't talk to you on your phones. >> That's classic manipulation. And again, showing that authoritar. I'm definitely going to call my my buddy and and see what he thinks about this. >> Following your kids around, following your ex around is not the way to handle this. >> I'm guilty of talking to my children when I can't talk to them. >> It's not your children, sir. my children. >> Well, I understand that, but that's not who you're stalking. Obviously, you're the mother is the one that doesn't want you here. Correct. >> I I haven't seen him. How am I stalking somebody I haven't even seen? I can't play my kids. >> Yeah, but you're at She knows you're here, obviously. Or we would. >> That's the thing. It doesn't care. I'm allowed to This is America. I can I can s I can throw the football into that grass where my son is and I will do it. And look, I don't want I respect it. So, what it looks like is the dad is not permitted to be on the grass area or inside of that apartment community or whatever it is or whatever those residences are. So, what he's doing is he's showing up and in the street and throwing the football to his son from the street so he's not violating the order. And I don't know what the specifics of the order are. It's very >> and that's just manipulation. That's emotional manipulation to the child to say, "Sorry, I can't come closer to you cuz your mom has a restraining order and she hates me and she doesn't want me to be around you." And then also manipulation of her time, rationing up the anxiety because I I feel like at least one child no notices that it's not good when dad gets around mom or dad tells us to basically without saying it maybe take a side and it's this is not helpful. This is not good quality time and he knows that he knows what he's doing. >> Very very gray area. People will try to go as close as they can to the line you know under the circumstances. So I believe that's what occurring. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that that's what I'm getting from this. >> She has not been right. She's always casting judgments. I think she's poor at her job. I'm I'm not I'm gonna stop in respect of you. Okay. If you want me to leave, I'll leave. I'm gonna go right to the baseball game, but I'll be here every day. And when I'm here and you come through back, you can ask me to leave and I may and and I'll leave. But I'm not going to be told I can't come here and say hi to my kids. >> Sir, I I completely understand. I have children myself. If I was in your position, I would be upset. Obviously, >> that is excellent. Excellent deescalation. That's called the fellow traveler. That I understand where you're coming from. you're showing active listening and saying that he's a dad as well is helpful to maybe deescalate the situation. This is not me suggesting that this male is acting in a proper manner under the circumstances cuz I'm not there and I don't know but what the officer just did right there, the fellow traveler, excellent police work, high police IQ, >> but this isn't the way to handle it. >> And no, that's also it Jacqueline from what the police are verbally stating and from obviously if you watched it before you going to see what happens. He's not even supposed to be there. It's not his time. That's more manipulation. Like, dad, daddy does want to spend more time with you. He knows it's not his time. He knows he's not authorized to be there. He's already violating um trespassing or he's close to violating trespassing order. That's why he's standing in the street. He can't touch the grass like Sergeant Curtis said. Yeah, he's not supposed to be there at all. They honestly um even she's even if they have it, obviously he's going to break it. But I hope they kind of have a neutral pickup drop off point. like even when it's his time, it can't he can't come to the house cuz he can he can get trespassed. That's got to be it. But I just again, I wish there was more because he is such the he is so much on the money of being the profile of someone that turns this into a fatal incident versus it just just being an annoyance. >> Well, you're very you're very in a gray area. You're very close to committing a criminal offense. Um >> no, you were guilty until proven guilty. Okay, I'll take this video and I and I will take this whole thing in front of the judge and and I already been down this road. I'm not going to I'm not going to be guilty of the crime. What's going on here? >> What I'm saying is that one foot on this property and you are committing a crime. So, I'm saying you're very close. She'd be the king. You think I'm stupid enough to step foot on this property, sir? >> No, I'm not. >> Okay. >> I'm I'm actually highly educated, been to college. I'm not a dumbass. You deal with dumbass losers all the time. That's not me. My son comes out, we play. Do you see that? Yeah. >> Yeah, I've seen that. >> Yeah. I never stepped foot on the property. Okay. I know what a property line is. I'm I'm a general contractor. I set surveys back. I know. Okay. >> So, >> but you see what I'm saying though? If it's gotten to the point where that's even in play, like you're trespass from the whole property that you doesn't prevent me the right standing in the streets, sir. Doesn't >> Okay. So, let me explain a couple things to you. And it varies from jurisdiction, but generally it's the same. So, you have trespass, which means that the apartment manager or representative of the owner of that property can trespass any person off of that property. And that is different than a stalking or restraining or protective order which is issued by the courts. Now a lot of this is civil and police can't enforce some of the things but police can enforce a lot of the things. You can be trespassed from a property have a restraining order and a protective order against you and all of those would be able to keep you off of the property. But they're different and police have to be very careful because sometimes they'll have an order that's not signed by a judge which an officer can enforce. There'll be an order that's signed by a judge but there was a subsequent order that supersedes the one that a person has. So police have to be extraordinarily careful with these, they get logged into a record system, especially in big jurisdictions, and you can run into challenges and you have to make sure you read through the entire order because they also expire. Another point, if a person gets an order, and I have had this happen so many times, they get a protective order against the person and it's still in effect. They reconcile and then they allow the person to come onto the property and visit and now they want to rekindle their relationship. Everything's fine and dandy. Then they have an argument over a football game or whatever, and then they call the police on that. It's a very tenuous type of situation how these orders work in the enforcement of the orders. If you get an order, it's really important that you follow every single step. >> So, it's a gray area, but until a judge tells me or until you guys take me to jail, I'm going to continue to do it so that I can see my kid when I get >> what's going to happen is she's started official stalking investigations like she told you, it's going to add every time we deal with you and they're going to call every time you're out here. You know they will. It's going to add to that. It's going to add to that. >> And then you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to walk in front of a judge and say, "Your honor, I'm here to see my kids. I'm not stalking anybody." And and that's exactly I believe him. That's exactly what he's going to do. And he I hope she gets to see the the the I hope the judge gets to see these body cams to put context towards it. Cuz when you're all neutralized in the court and you're just saying these words of I just want to see my kids and all this other stuff. Sometimes these judges have too much sympathy and aren't looking at the manipulation side of it. Because if you've already put out an order as the judge, these are his visiting times. We should I don't even I don't even want to hear that you had you want to see your kids because you're violating what I told you about your times. Why are you there? But some judges [sighs and gasps] they let so much slide >> on the video. >> That'll be up to the court systems at that point to decide. You know, >> as long as you guys respect a civil matter versus a criminal one, that's all I ask of you guys as police, right? Just reserve the right to keep civil stuff civil and criminal criminal. Okay. >> But you understand interfering with somebody, harassing somebody, following somebody. I haven't interfered with nobody. I have not interfered. >> If you're here to the point she knows you're here, you're trespassing the property. >> Okay. That's interfering with her well-being. Correct. >> No, it's not. See, that mean that could be your opinion. It could be Miss Butterfield's opinion. Okay. But it's the judge's opinion matter. >> It'll be up to the jury to decide whether or not you're interfering with her. >> The jury, they're going to really uh >> But but listen to me. Following somebody and harassing somebody is a criminal offense. >> Sir, I'm not harassing. >> You don't think you're harassing? If I go ask her, is he harassing you? What do you think she's going to think? >> Go ask what I done here, too. >> I'm sure that's what she's doing. And I I heard the people at the last house, they definitely think you're harassing them. >> Who who people Hey, >> her parents. >> Listen, I respect, man. Yeah. >> Because I I know this is not easy. You deal with all sorts of [ __ ] and this is this is a civil matter, okay? And I'm I'm ready to go to jail. >> There's a civil aspect to it for sure. >> Yeah. Yeah, I'd say so. Um I'm definitely not I'm open to here to see my kids. I've got it on record 100 times. >> I don't know if you saw, but um the kid playing the football. Do you think that he's really engaged in playing football or is he really just listening? There's got to be some type of nervousness going on seeing this interaction going on with the police, talking to the dad. I mean, is that is that really playing? And from an officer's perspective to be observant of all of those things that are going on because interestingly, the two sections of the department that I worked in that made me really get a true understanding of the depth of how this goes is when I worked in domestic violence and when I worked as a dare officer. Understanding the psychology of what goes on with children is really, really important because there can be lasting effects to a situation like this. So when a judge asks, you know, are you going to you going to show up and say I'm stalking? She's going to show up today and say I'm stalking. When I clearly told her, I'm not here to see that woman. I'm here to see my kids. Okay. >> Your actions are that you're stalking. No one cares about what's coming out of your mouth. He is stalking. He is not there to see his kids. His kids are a pawn. They are a tool for him to do what he actually is wanting to do, which is keep control, keep watch for whatever reason. And he is with someone else, in case you're wondering. He is He's currently in a relationship. I can't remember if they said he was married or not, but he's in a relationship. Doesn't matter. But this is his way of doing surveillance. This has nothing to do with his children. >> Maybe I'm guilty of stalking them. Let's see if they can they can adjudicate me for stalking my children when I can't talk to the phone. But in the meantime, that's going to happen. I'm sorry. I don't mean to be rude because I'm I'm not that guy. I just want my kids. Just I just want to be a dad. I just want to be a dad. Hey, how's your day? You know, you know, how was school? You know, any problems at school? Did you have a good day? >> Then you should call. There's video chat now. You can I'm I don't think she blocks the kids from using a phone to communicate with him. Why are you physically here on times that are not your time? Because this is why I this is why I say he he's dangerous to me. That's it. That's all. He is dangerous to me. I don't care that he's not put his foot on the grass or hasn't maybe ever hit her. This is dangerous. This is the pathway to something fatal happening. >> And I get that and I wish you two could work that out where we wouldn't have to be involved in this at all. >> You can't when you have an [ __ ] These are special breed of people that you know you probably don't you don't know. >> Yeah. But we are involved obviously now. Obviously there's two sides to everything. We're not allowed to take sides. Okay. We have to be impartial to to >> So just just respect civil and and criminal and that's all >> because I I'll go I'll sit on the judge. >> Okay. >> With these videos >> a lot. Okay. >> Often at their request, I will say that. >> Okay. >> Because they don't see him otherwise. He's refusing to I don't know if he told you his whole story, but he's refusing to take his legal time with them until I sign his petition, >> which is the outrageous one similar to last one. Okay. >> It's the same thing. And he gives it to the kids and he gives it and they give it to me. >> So, and at their request, he comes to see them because they miss him. You can see they they miss him. And I I have a hard time >> keeping them apart from him when they have a relationship and love him. I feel like that's harsh and unfair. But these daily visits are awful. >> So he's come here every day for >> he was out of town for a week. Okay. So he didn't go that week, but otherwise he comes nearly daily. It's not consistent, but it's almost daily >> since when do you remember how long that's been going on? >> January 3rd. >> Okay. Since [laughter] we were there, >> I remember a couple times related to like late baseball things, uh, sorry, basketball things, like sports things. So we had him over the night a couple times. Okay. >> He has texted me over and over and over again. I will be every day at your parents house. I will be here every night. I will make sure that everyone knows that you are not letting me see. You know, that kind of he's just and he sits out there like he's doing now. >> Is it possible to conduct this interview inside? You see all the windows that are out facing where these people are and the stigma attached to this that you know a domestic situation can happen and that these kids are going to have to see. Is it possible to conduct it inside so that no one hears all of this personal business and still be able to watch your partner from the doorway just to give them some degree of privacy. And again, my criticism of this is just constructive. I wasn't there. I don't know. But from this air conditioned space is the time that we can talk about these things and talk about what best practices are. Keeping in mind that the highest priority is the sanctity of the kids. >> Does he come up closer? He doesn't. All right, I'm back. If we blip out, I well, I will do my best to always wait three minutes before I end the live because it blips me every now and again. I don't know why. So, I'm back. I tried to pause when she was talking. So, you didn't miss much. As soon as I saw my screen went down, I tried to pause. >> There's more to life. There's more to a dad than this. So, um, what is the times in the evening she's allowed to court to talk? All right, I'm back again. I'm just in case I blip out, I'm still going to type this message in the chat. But I swear this only happens when I'm showing something important. I'm back though. I'mma give it a solid three minutes each time. Hopefully it's not going to be happening this frequently. This is crazy. This is just too much. phone all the way up until 8 9:00 p.m. >> Did you notice that the the boy didn't want to leave when the sister was trying to pull him away? He wants to see what's going to happen. And there's a visceral nervousness that you can see. I would feel the same exact way under those circumstances. >> I do notic. >> I don't know what it says timewise. It just says between those hours. And my frustration with it is that I read it as the kids are allowed to call him during that time whenever they feel like it. He reads it as he's allowed unfettered access during that time every single day, no matter what. >> Yeah. Do you want to press start? Can we talk about it without small ears? >> Absolutely. [laughter] I want to know all the repercussions of what that means. Yes, for sure. For sure. >> I don't believe the mom should have to ask that from the professional perspective. That's not I mean, did you see the kid's head turned? She asked, "So, you want and the kid looks mom, do you want him arrested? You want my dad arrested?" From my training and experience, that is not a question that should be asked in front of a child. >> Yeah, I need to know what that entails and what that means. >> I agree. I h kids need to go in the house. It It sucks. It sucks. I know she's there's so many things they have to think about and watch their surroundings. So, I'm not like going to be hard on the cop or anything, but yeah, the poor babies, they and they're just going to their perspective is going to be warped so much until they can just kind of see things for themselves >> because I would like to have peace in our evenings here. Um, I think the kids should be able to see their dad. I don't want to see that taken away from them. >> Right. But you don't want it to happen. >> I don't want it to happen here. There's no reason for it to happen here. He has legal time he's supposed to take with him. >> So my supervisor is coming out just because we've told him to not be here, to not be there, and he's like, "Well, I'm coming back every day." And I'm like, >> "No." And and he's he's he's proud of that. >> Um >> I know he's trespassing from here. >> I would be going nuts if I weren't seeing my kids. I get that. I would be I would be devastated for the kids not to see me. >> He hasn't said his time either. >> That's the issue that I can't understand. >> So he wants his time when it's your time. And normally when you want a modification of your parenting stuff, you have it written up and then if you don't have agreement, you take it to court. >> Right. >> Um I think he knows that court would never >> I don't know why. Yeah. I don't know why. >> So you keep or you guys keep unless you guys keep going with these injunctions and I don't >> Yeah. Do we want to step inside or do you want to come out this way? >> Well, I mean >> they want to get in the van. >> Do you guys want you want to go play with daddy while he's here? >> Yeah. >> Well, my fear is always that he's going to fall off with them, >> right? >> Yeah. and he at Rosy's request he had them for her birthday evening >> and um she wanted to come home. He wasn't going to let her. You know, it's just always traumatizing, dramatic. >> Yeah. But yes, >> the truth is I would love to press the charges. >> Okay. I just don't want my kids to hear that. >> Right. Absolutely. And that's what I assume. But um like I said, my supervisor is coming out because he works right in the gray. >> Okay. Stalking is something where we're here for now and we can arrest him right now. I will also admit that this part I have I don't want him to know and soon enough I won't be able to hide it but that >> it frightens me the >> one of the more memorable things I that got me about this one this body cam is the fact that she can't even just be 6 months pregnant. She has to cover it up and she's worried about him learning about her being 6 months pregnant. Why if he's only here about his kids and it's all about the kids, why does she have to be worried about him finding out she's pregnant? because it's not about the kids. The man's dangerous because she should not have any worry about her safety or about him finding out she's pregnant because she's in a you know different relationship or whatever. You remember maybe you don't remember but I remember you were there for my old restaurant here chasing us around town and at that point I had told the >> I remember I had to like follow you home but >> yes and I had told my intended parents back then I can't do this for you under these circumstances and then he backed off mental health or something kind of okay >> well I don't know they had he got married and I think the wife convinced him to just try to take the kids >> yeah was it the same girl from the restaurant okay >> yeah and uh things were calm in the fall >> yeah like not great, but way better, >> right? It seems like he's coming back up now. >> It's almost I think he showed up at their house like [snorts] a week ago. >> Yes, he's been there a couple times. >> Um he's he just texts the most manic things. He's >> That's the other one. Harassing communications backto backto backto back text messages, calls. You cannot have a piece of mind. He's in a whole marriage cuz she said his wife he has a whole marriage and he is out here stalking his ex. >> Those text messages still up. >> Yes. >> If you want to screenshot as many of them as you can. >> It goes on and on and on. >> Oh yeah. >> Yeah. It goes on for a long time. And this is him always writing to pretending to be his wife. And >> that's why he's pretending to be as Christine or whatever her name is. >> He always he often signs off love always love Christine. Yeah. Jason will be having very long play dates in the street at the hostage camp every single day. that's over there. >> Okay. >> He will be keeping extra close tabs on the kids now. Yeah. >> It is incredibly important if you are involved and hopefully you're not involved in a situation like this or you know someone that's involved in a situation like this is to document document document document every single interaction, every single conversation and save all of that stuff cuz it's incredibly important for an investigation and for your protection. >> He's panicking that they're with his relatives that are from Indiana were there that night at the restaurant. >> Yes, I I remember them. Y remember >> they're nowhere in town. They're [laughter] living their life >> in India. It's one of these. >> That's his sister, isn't it? >> And yeah, and his mother. He doesn't want to come out. >> Do you mind taking the screenshots or if you have a screen record function, I'll send you a link. >> Screen record function. >> Let me go talk to him real quick. Do you want to bring the kids back inside? Because he's going to kind of ask him one question if he doesn't leave. >> Hey guys, can you come back inside for a second? >> Hey, my name is Sergeant Cameron. How are you? Good. >> Good. Have you been requested to leave this area by my officers? >> Hey guys. been requested. >> Yes. Did they ask you to what area? >> Right here where we're standing right now. >> I'm just reaching my phone. I got >> That's it right there forever. TRL for for stalkers like him. The kids are just a tether. They're just a mechanism to do what they actually are trying to do. That is exactly. And I'm sorry you had to personally go through this, but um forever TRL said my ex was like this. It's a lot. It's never actually about the child. It's always about control. And the kids are the only tactic they have left when you finally leave. It's so sad and scary. Yep. Yes, it is. I I agree with you. I just feel like we see this all the time. And for me, one is too close to home to me. But yes, we see this all the time. Yep. This is it. That's what I was saying, Kim. It's the same profile. It's the same thing. Thank you for the super chat, Les Grandma. Yeah, we we've had a a long Fourth of July together today, haven't we? I'm I I do. I like being with y'all. >> You were one of the guys that was there for the um >> Okay, put your back, >> guys. Look, JJ. >> Stop resisting. >> Take my phone, JJ. JJ, get my phone. >> Stop. >> JJ, look at this. >> JJ, look at this. Look at this. JJ, beat me up. JJ, look. I'm letting go. I'm done. Guys, look at this. Guys, look at this. Video this. Get it on. It's >> all on video. It's all on video. Get a video. >> Oh, yes. And I I I throw this out even when like someone hasn't been to court. I didn't know that was the name of the app, but I knew that there were some court type third-party apps that you you should use with people that manipulate things like don't con don't do not have communication with them outside of these very controlled um methods. So, Ace Moonshot said, "I advise using the app that many family courts recommend for all communication. Applose is one of them." Yes. Because one, it protect because it filters out bad words. A lot of them do. or it'll capture that they are using bad words. Um, it's always tracked. It's always documented. I'm pretty sure it prevents the other person from later going back and trying to delete and, you know, remove things that they said so they can act like they never said it. Like it's it's for the protection of the person. Basically, that can be seen as the victim. Honestly, it's and it protects legal things too in case they you you kind of got to make your decisions through that text and then of course through the courts. You can't really start doing things outside of that. Oh, Leia's grandma, thank you for the super chat. I mean the uh cash app. A thank you. You You got me on double time. Okay, we'll keep going. >> Get it. All right, guys. Look, I love you. Have fun at baseball. >> Yeah, I know. Jersey, look. >> Turn up. Come over here. >> Come over here. >> Hey, guys. This is This is what you love to do. over here >> in custody. >> Unfortunate and very avoidable to hear and see this. It just really still continues to affect me. You know, people ask me a lot of times, what was the worst call you've been to? And it's not the worst single call. It's the type of call. And it's whenever that crying of a child that's different from I lost my baseball or my doll broke. It's the sound of a soul being tortured to some degree. And I don't even know if tortured is a good word to use, but it's the sound of a soul just being shaken to a degree. It's a different kind of sound when a kid sees a parent being arrested or something like that. It's it's very very difficult still even to this day when I watch these kinds of things from the professional side. How could this have been avoided? Could we have waited 30 seconds to ensure that the kids were inside out of eye and earshot before we took him into custody? I don't know. >> And now we have at minimum three people in uniform out here. Why couldn't we get the kids in the apartment? I mean, at first the mom had said go in the apartment. They didn't go. Then she was like, "Okay, they can go play with their dad." Yes. Why can't the kids go inside the apartment? Because, you know, this is how he is. The two officers that showed up on the scene already were familiar with him and how he acts. I wish the kids didn't have to see this. And of course, they're going to see other things when the police aren't present, but I just wish it could be mitigated as much as possible. >> I wasn't there. But I say this for future interactions, for officers who may watch this, and for the young aspiring officers that I always speak to in every one of these videos. If everything is safe and you can wait so that the kids are out of ear and eyeshot, then do that thing. And then the comment from the dad, this is what your mother does. I mean, I'm not in any way saying that this male did anything correctly. And especially that type of comment. Adults who are watching this, if you're in this type of situation, not the thing to do. Remember when the officer said, "Do you want him arrested?" And the boy turned his head. Does he hitch those two things together and then therefore hold some type of animosity? Again, getting the kids out of the area is paramount. In fact, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to try to call my buddy right now and see. He actually works at the biggest detention center in Las Vegas. Super sharp. His name is Dr. Janick. >> Hey, Sergeant Curtis. >> Dr. Janick, you you answered. Okay, so here's the situation. I'm I'm doing a video. It was a domestic type situation and one of those where they were arguing over, you know, who gets the kids or who's supposed to be around the kids and the dad ends up getting arrested in front of the kids. I'm sure you have a lot of experience about when that kind of stuff happens. Could you just kind of give the viewers your feedback on and just basically just about when a kid sees a parent get arrested? >> Of course, man. I suspect we're probably going to be on the same page here because I know how important this issue is to you. One thing that I think that whether it's officers, healthcare workers, really any of us that we need to keep in mind that children are not experiencing these situations the same way that the adults do. The adults see the investigation, a legal issue or medical encounter, some sort of police encounter, but the children just see something much much simpler and it's a lot scarier. They basically just see someone that they love looking afraid, looking powerless, in danger. And from a mental health perspective, you know, it's important to keep that in mind because child's brain is essentially constantly asking one question repeatedly, which is, "Am I safe?" And when they observe their parent being handcuffed, yelling back and forth, being physically restrained, some sort of highly emotional confrontation, their sense of safety is just shaken. There is very clear evidence that these experiences are associated with much much higher rate of developing anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, substance use disorders, even physical health issues later on in life. And you know it doesn't mean that every child who unfortunately has to observe something like this is just automatically traumatized for life that you know we are resilient to people. But it just means that we should avoid creating any any unnecessary trauma whenever we safely can. I think it's important that the end of the day, you got to always remember that that the child didn't create the problem, but they may they may very well be the one that carries the memory the longest out of anyone involved. >> That is exactly what I was thinking. I just don't have all of the degrees and everything, and I'm not as smart as you. [laughter] >> Well, and I want to add one thing. In my own personal experience at the jail, one thing that I have found very interesting professionally is I would say it is an almost daily occurrence when meeting new patients at the jail that they will describe some sort of an incident when they were younger with AIDS or their parents being arrested. And I know that there is, you know, a lot that involved in each one of these pictures, but I can't ever help but wonder to what degree that aspect of it kind of shaped um some aspect of the road that the individual ended up going down and ending up there in the jail with me. So I I think that point is important too because I found it bizarre and hard to believe it's physical incident. >> That is powerful. That is powerful. Hey, thank you so much for this call taking this call. I mean I've never done this before and I think that this is absolutely amazing. Absolutely amazing information, Doc. >> Hey, I couldn't be more honored. Thank you, Sergeant Curtis. I appreciate it. >> Dr. Janick, thank you so much. I really appreciate you doing this. >> I appreciate you, Sergeant Curtis. Keep doing what you do. >> All right. before um they continue. I saw a couple times where it was very controllable to put the kids in the apartment. Um basically when the cops were on scene and the little boy was closer to his mom and the the little girl was closer to her mom, that's definitely when they could have gone in the apartment. Another time is when instead of the mom I think the mom's trying to do this thing to show she's being agreeable. She's not um unreasonable and she's overcompensating trying to do that. Which is why I think when she said, "Yeah, they I mean they can go play with him." No, it should have been I just want to stick to the court stuff. Go in the house right now. Cuz you know he's about to get arrested because you know you're going to say yes, I want to press charges which means cuffs are coming out. So why do you want them to go back and play with them with him when you know those cuffs are coming out? Because they already asked, "Is he harassing you? Do you want to press charges?" So there's no dad's is going to get in his car and drive away. Um she's under immense pressure. She's expecting another child. So hindsight and everything, but those were two clear points the kids could have gone in the apartment. The last one was with three officers on the scene and the mom out there. Somebody could have escorted those children away before the sergeant got the cuffs out. like that. Those are the times I feel like they could have gotten those kids back before they saw uh their dad getting arrested and he could, you know, then use it to make a scene. >> All right, take care. That was good stuff. Really good stuff. I hope that you guys got a chance to write that down. >> Enough guys. You know what? 91 from that my children. >> You did that all yourself. >> You really serve the community well tonight. >> All right. Uh his rambling we're not going to do. I'm going to listen to Sergeant Curtis's ending thoughts and we're going to look at another stalker and then we're going to go to what's on the thumbnail. We have I just want to show the concerning actions before someone actually has their life taken because it's it's just so important because you we've seen how it's kind of ca most well most with some cops it's very casual. Some others obviously they take it very seriously. The system is is very casual and even when the system does try to help and they give the paperwork it's still paper and you still have a crazy person that wants to harm somebody and control their life. So, it's not there's just there's no good. There isn't. But, all right. So, we'll finish up with Sergeant Curtis. >> We're in the back seat and they keep talking a lot of nonsense and stuff that we don't want to hear. Sometimes officers will turn the music up just like that just not to listen to what they have to say. I think the charges that we saw were the stalking and the resisting arrest when they were attempting to take them into custody. But, who wins in this situation? These types of situations, there are no winners. For anyone who's sadly going through a difficult situation like this, document, document, document, follow the rules of the court as closely as you possibly can. Look for support from friends and family. If you know someone that's going through this, support that person through it. And I want to shout out a group of people right now. And it's a very, very important group of people cuz I know a lot of young people watch this. If you have been through something similar to this, you get a shout out for me because you can still be incredibly successful. You don't have to feel bad about yourself. Keep your head held up high. Adults sometimes don't do adult things and you are absolutely 100% not to blame for whatever it is that you went through. Keep your head up high, continue to move forward, and do the right thing and learn from the mistakes of other people. If you like this kind of content, like the >> child of the the the grown-ups of the they that used to be the kids that went through this. I need to hear that. I mean, thankfully it wasn't like this, but there's so much in between trauma when parents get divorced. Okay, I'm going to play the first 30, 45 seconds again for the people that weren't here when we first played this, and we're going to watch the other stalker, and then we'll continue on from there. One of the cases that really changed my perception and changed my life was the murder of Cla Bernell in Harvey Nichols in 2005. >> All right. Okay. And like I said before, she will get to finish her story. It's a 3minut video, but for now, I'm driving a certain point home. So, let's look at why the police step in when a 19-year-old won't leave a girl alone. >> Apparently, he was talking to my child. >> Your your daughter lives here with you. You all live together. Does he stay here? >> No, he's not from here. >> Hi, Officer Gatson. What's going on? I'm just trying to talk to everybody. >> That's it. She don't want to talk to you. >> I mean, I don't know. That's why I'm trying to figure out an answer. Nobody want >> She got a phone. >> She's not answering. >> Okay. So, you understand that her mom don't want you here? She not answering the phone. So, >> and I respected that. So, the first time she asked me, I didn't come >> and that was like a whole while ago. Still haven't heard now. >> Let me come back. Let me see if I can talk to her. >> I'm just trying to talk to her. I'm not doing that. >> Yeah, but >> All right. >> For what, though? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Why? >> Well, I mean, >> how am I sick? >> Just Can you listen to me for a second? Stop arguing with her. >> For what? You don't even know >> Sir, >> you don't know me. >> Hello. >> I just like your daughter. I'm trying to talk. >> Ma'am, can you just Can you let Can you let me talk to him for a second, please? Do you want to step over here and talk? Okay. So, where we at now is you She don't want you here. >> Your daughter. That's it. >> Hello. I'm trying to speak to you. >> That's cool. I don't got to talk to you. I'm trying to talk to her. >> You got to leave though. >> Why do I got to? >> Cuz she you she don't want you here. >> Yeah, but I want to be >> Okay. So, >> if you don't leave trespassing because you're on her property. She doesn't want you here. >> I'm not. This is the property right here. >> So, let me stand over here. >> You have no other reason to be in this complex. So, >> I just told you my reason. >> Okay. And I'm telling you I'm telling you that by law, she don't want you here. The daughter's not answering the phone. Okay. >> Stat. I know my law. >> Okay. I know. I >> But I'm just trying to talk to your daughter. >> Hello, ma'am. Can you >> How do I know that though? How do I know that she that that that has to came out >> all this all this if I was a police officer now her hands are probably tied by what she can enforce but all this is not casual this is a dangerous stalker when you'll hear the girl through the door if you haven't seen this video before I don't remember if she actually answers the door she talks through the door but this is this is dangerous I know she probably can only do trespassing right now but this is a lot Like [sighs] I don't know if I just watch too many videos. I don't know. But this and I would think as a cop they've seen more than the average person. This He is not a joke. He is dangerous. >> So I I asked you once and now I'm telling you the third time I'm going to put my hands on you and I'm going to physically remove you from the property. >> So you walk away and you get in your car or this is going to turn into something that it doesn't have to be. >> That's cool. But no doubt. >> Hey, get in your car. Where's your car? >> Where is your car? Listen, >> his car is right there. >> Okay, get in your car and leave. >> Why are you putting something? >> I just explained everything to you. I told you to leave or we're going to put on you and you do have to leave. >> Why do I have to? >> I explained that. She does not want you trespassing. >> She does not want to have to get arrested for. >> Yes, it is. >> You know that >> it is a law. So, do you want to do you want to go to jail and find out? Because if you do, I will take you. If you you are if you don't leave. >> I don't have to leave. Yes, you do. >> Don't don't do that. Don't Don't do that. >> You don't want to do that. >> Stay over there. >> Stay over there. >> I just want to get out of this. Get out your house. >> I forgot about that part. Noir Angel. Noir says the cops are going to make her come outside to confront him. Yeah, that is not good at all. I feel like that escalates things going on like some chemical reactions in his brain. I feel like it's just tempting. I don't I don't like that at all. I know that they have to they're treating it like how a manager has to come tell the person you're trespass from the business, but I don't like this for this. And I again, I understand they have limitations. Only so much they can do. I hate it though. >> Stuff so hard. I explained it to him three times. But your next question, you don't know what my life and what I've been going through is. >> That's fine. >> If I want to talk to her daughter, I could come. No. And you >> No, you don't. When we ask you to know when >> Yeah. I don't know y'all. Y nobody to me. >> Okay. Well, you will find out when you go to jail. >> Move your hand. >> If I go to jail, I'm not staying there. Y'all know that. So, I'm not scared of y'all. [ __ ] y'all talking about, bro. >> That's not >> What's What state do they say they're in? Oh, Palm Beach. It's Florida. I ain't going to say, but I'm saying that cuz that's not a law. That's a stat. >> Give me that. Give me Give me that damn key. >> Let it go. Let it go. >> Let the key go >> for what? Y doing the move. Be black people. You working to jail. You going to jail. >> We black people. You going to go, homie. Look, you going to look at yourself like, damn, I arrested a kid just cuz I wanted to. Just cuz you wanted to talk to a girl. I got I got it. Y'all going to take my picture, too? >> And he's starting so early. What they say he's Yeah, he's 19. He's just going to es this behavior will escalate and there's going to be a trail of some injured people behind him and and possibly worse. This is this does not change without some type of rehabilitation, some type of something. It doesn't just go away. Sir, >> mind your business, sir. >> I appreciate you, sir. >> I appreciate you, sir. >> Call for >> Y got no power, man. Y'all got no power. >> Y got no power, man. >> Hey, I appreciate you, son. >> Designs in the core. He has not harmed her yet. We are focusing on stalkers that that's not where they stop. Once they're stalking, that's not where they stop. He has not physically harmed her at this time. I'll play the video again when we get to it. But yeah, this is the whole point. I wanted to show two people that had not harmed or laid a hand on anybody, but they are they are dangerous and they are the ones that turn into something else that unfortunately was not prevented beforehand. Again, like I said, I know I know a lot of hands are tied in this law and stuff. I but I do have on my banner just in case y'all don't see it that the National Domestic Violence Hotline helps you form a stalking plan like a being safe from stalking plan. Nothing's foolproof, but it it's just one more resource. >> Love just trying to talk to her daughter. That's it. That's love though. Hi. >> Hello. What's going on? >> A lot is going on. He's stalking me. He won't leave me alone. He's crazy. I've been recording every single time that he's come here. Every single time that he's texted my phone, he's like harassing me. And he won't. Clearly, you see, he won't leave me alone. This isn't the first time he's showed up here. I don't know how many times he showed up here when I haven't been home. Okay? She's already told him on a previous occasion to leave me alone, and he doesn't listen. >> So, you don't want him here. You don't want them here? >> You're not even supposed to park there. You're not even supposed to be >> How long has this been going on for? >> This has been going on for about a month now. A month now. It's ridiculous. >> Okay. You know what we live in today? You can't >> It's crazy. Wait right here. Don't leave. Let me talk to my partner for a second. >> You can hear this. I don't want anything to do with you. Do not show up to my house again. Stop watching me and do not show up to my house again. Do you understand me? Everyone is sitting out here. You're hearing me say this. They're hearing me say this. Don't show up to my house again. Leave me alone. Leave me alone. That's enough. That's enough. Go to jail. >> It's a private community. >> Okay. Open. That mean anybody could I don't got to live here. >> No, it doesn't. >> But I don't have to live here to come here. But see, that's why I said you keep saying that you [ __ ] know the law, but you don't. >> I don't know the law. It's only common law. That's it, bro. I'm not under y'all. >> Uhhuh. There you go. Whoever said, "Doesn't he start with the sovereign citizen stuff?" I'm hearing it. I'm hearing the script. >> No jurisdiction, bro. I'm not under y'all. I'm the living soul. >> What's your first, buddy? >> Well, don't worry about that. >> That's true, Nor Angel. Energy is energy. They'll take it however they can get it. Anger is just as good as passion, as liking them. They just want the They just need you to be focused on them and they know where you are and they have some control over your emotions, your location, something. That's Yes, that fed him. That did not do anything. That's not a deterrent. That feeds them. Habitual stalking does sound redundant. Stalking is not a one-time thing. Well, they got to put it some kind of way to maybe show that he's gotten caught doing it, too, though. Forever TR said, "I'm so proud of her strength because that's not easy to do, especially with someone like him." Mhm. He is a real problem. I know she doesn't, Kim. This is scary as hell to me, >> bro. And you know you can't do nothing if I don't give you nothing. You can't do nothing. >> So, this is what you need to do. >> Yeah. I'm going to document everything. Yeah. We're going to trespass warn him from here. It's a written. So, when we do a written trespass warning, that means if any officer come back here and they see him here at your door, he can go to he can go to jail for trespass after warning. After I trespass him, you need to take all the photos, all the videos. Keep them. Don't get don't get rid of them. If he continues to text you and call you, like literally document everything and go back to the clerk. You already did it before, just do it again and let them know that this is an ongoing issue. You know, you feel you feel in fear for your safety. >> Literally, he was harassing me through text messages all last night and I'm just not responding. He won't leave me alone and I hate being not left alone. >> Yeah. Um, so go to the judge, request for a restraining order, and you could just explain to the judge that it's getting to the point where police is involved and it shouldn't be like no problem. >> They give you ASAP. >> Yeah. even if it's >> and and that's that's all the police officer can kind of do is advise her, right? Try to get a restraining order. All he can do is continue to get arrested and you have to be so aware of your surroundings because police aren't where you're going to be in your everyday life. They can show up later after something happens, but it she's got she's going to be so hypervigilant. Teresa, thank you so much for the super chat. I appreciate you. Um I can't remember what I told y'all, but I'll figure it out. But thank you. Thank you very very much. Um, Ace Moonshot said, "I was stalked when in high school. She never even spoke to me. Just left notes. Reached a point where she said, "If I can't have you, no one can. Everyone thought it was funny. Thank god times changed." That's and see and it does go even more under reportported when the man is the victim because it's like you said it's better now but it's still seen as a a joke or oh like when we watched that mom that was stalking that teacher and remember she was you could even tell just on the Zoom court she was a petite little thing and he's like a six foot something man and he's like people are they were underplaying the fact that this woman is scary as hell stalking him, sending him emails, talking and then she tried, she was like, "No, I'm just checking on my son. I blah blah blah." She tried to smile and all this other stuff. She is dangerous. She is just as harmful. And he looked like he hadn't gotten sleep in months. Like it was so bad for him. And I think somebody told me they were in court again. It is so stressful. There's no peace for that. She All stalkers are dangerous. They are very, very dangerous. Yeah. He talking about common law. Jacqueline just sound like an idiot. Let me see. Yeah, she can't she cannot enjoy life at this time. She cannot put her guard down for her safety. Jodie arise. Is that now is that the astronaut? All I remember every time when I think of someone being stalked is that dog on astronaut. There's been plenty others, but she always sticks in my mind the most. I bet he knows at minimum where she goes to school. I bet he does. And if he's stalking, he if she works, he knows where she works as well. Cuz that's that's the thing. He's literally following her. Oh, she shot him in the shower. Oh, wow. I didn't hear about her then. >> Just a temporary one. Usually >> I need something like right now. >> Yeah. Even if it's something temporary until they can get something permanent. Yeah. >> And and listen, at any time you feel in you feel in fear for your safety callers. Like if you see him around, if you go outside, you feel somebody like absolutely call the police. Don't stop. Um >> I've been I've been on edge waiting for this to happen again. That's how bad it is. I know >> that being on the edge, he does need counseling. And Janetta, you just made me think of something. And I know many people through generations have suggested this, but I really feel like in every state it should be mandatory to have not just a mental health evaluation, mental health monitoring care, ongoing therapy, because if nothing is honestly addressed, this doesn't change. It really does need to lean heavily on some psychiatry type things going on for people like this because they're their head's going to tell them to do the worst of the worst. It's not going to come from within. No, I don't believe she was ever dating him. I They don't say that. Noir, you can correct me if my memor is wrong. It It seemed like he picked her out and said, "I'm going to I'm going to um just make her life a living hell." But some of these with the one we watched before and the one we're going to watch after, they were in relationships is cut off. There's no longer relationship. And the and and stalker can't let go. The ex can't let go and becomes a stalker, I should say. >> Was going to happen again. I knew it. When I'm at school, I have to watch my surroundings because he'll [snorts] show up there. >> That's even more reason for you to go to the judge as soon as possible and make sure you do that. Okay. You are officially being trespassed from this property. You have no reason to be here. >> Told you. >> Um, >> that's the reason >> they don't want you here. >> All right, that's cool. >> So, what I have done is I have completed a written trespass form. If you come back on this property within this complex within a year and police see you on the >> How you going to sit there and tell me that? If I want to, I could do that and y'all y'all can't take me to jail, you know. the police see you on the property after this form has um been completed, you will be taken to jail. So today going to jail from the drunk. Stop lying to the people. >> Today is September. >> He just lied to me. He said I'm going to jail. >> I sit there and lie to people when y'all arrest them. Stop lying. >> Today is September 10th, 2022. If you come back on this property before September 10th, 2022 you don't have no power. >> I do what I want. >> You will be taken to jail. So do not come back before next year. >> What did I just tell you? >> You understand what I just said? >> I owe myself. >> Do you understand what I just said? >> And I No, I don't understand. >> Two times, but never part Do you not understand, >> bro? I don't understand. That's it. >> I'm about to bake. >> You thought you was going to get me? I don't understand. Stupid. Tell me. >> I I I don't know. She She pro Oh, I don't know if she followed through with this, but she just said I'm about to baker him. I wish she would follow through with it, but I also know I've seen a lot of people the that adopted son that killed his parents and he was from the Ukraine. They Baker acted him. It It's not enough. There needs to be some ongoing things happening, mandatory ongoing treatment. And I know that still won't be 100% preventing things, but he has these people like this have to get a lot of monitoring, a lot of mental health care. like they I don't know another way except they just preemptively get locked up and I know that's not humane but this is too much. >> I don't understand. >> Do you understand? You you been trespass >> I don't understand. >> Okay, I'm done. >> He's going to jail. I'm over it. I'm so done. He's going to jail. >> But the world we live in today is insane. You think you know a person, you don't know a person. You don't know. What do you what do you mean beside don't let you end up like the people >> like don't let me end up dead on Fox News or something like that because he I don't know snuck behind me or was following me on my >> Has he ever snuck behind you before or like followed you or >> one time I see him in a plaza that I was at but I wasn't sure. I just got in my car and went away immediately cuz I was terrified. I'm terrified. I live every day of my life in terror. >> So your mom's stick in the car. Okay. >> All right. It says he was charged with stalking, which I'm actually surprised stalking is actually on his charges and trespass after warning. Ooh, Aqua Queen, a father and nine brothers. Girl, that is nice. That is very nice. He doesn't follow the actual law. He seems like a chronically online young man who has lost his mind. Yes. Yep. He is very much fixated. Ace Moonshot said, "Problem with mandatory arrest and forced treatment is it's too easy to accuse innocent people." I know it's a catch 22. I know, Ace. I Oh my god. I I know. I know. The ones the ones that should not be caught up in the system end up being caught in the system when it's something that needs to be forced for some, but it it gets people just off of biases and everything else. And and it creates victims of the it's it's a catch 22. I know. I know. That's why I'm just talking on my behind because I don't even know what can be done. Let me see if they say anything else. >> All right, that was it. All right, so I'm going to play her full video now and then we're going to watch the one you saw on the thumbnail, which again, trigger warning, he does kill her. I'm I need it to be very plain that we are getting into the very much trigger warning portion of this now. I mean the first part could be if you've ever been stalked and know someone that's stalked, but I'm just letting you know. Spoiler alert. So, all right, we're going to listen to the full portion, which is only three minutes of this criminal behavioral analyst who breaks down stalking. Two people have been shot dead in Harvey Nichols, which makes you think of someone's gone into Harvey Nichols and and just shot two people dead, but the two people shot dead was Michael Pesh murdering Cla Bernell who worked there. And so understanding what went before that, that my commander had said, "Can you do a quick desktop review? Any issues for us, Laura, in my role as head of homicide prevention unit?" And when I start looking at the history of what we knew at New Scotland Yard and looking at the crime report, I saw that she had repo reported to us multiple times. And when she had reported his behavior to us, it wasn't taken seriously. But actually, what they missed was how terrifying this was for Cla that she was leaving on the tube and he would just suddenly appear. He would block her exit off the tube. And on what the la one of the last occasions, he didn't just block her exit. He stroked her cheek, moved closer to her so that they were nose tonose, and he said, "If you report me to the police, I will kill you." Cla then manages to get home. She was living with a friend who also worked in Harvey Nichols. And that friend said, "You must tell a head the head of security at Harvey Nichols." And so she did. The head of security at Harvey Nichols did a really good job. started watching Michael Pesh, started the disciplinary process, created a whole file on his behavior that would eventually lead to him being suspended and then fired. But when he was fired and he was led out of Harvey Nichols in cuffs, what they didn't understand was how angry he was and he wanted revenge on Clare. So when he's bailed, the first person he wants to go and see is Clare. He gets a weapon because he's ex-military and he's a security guard that works in Harvey Nicholls. And then he goes in through a side door on September the 13th because he knows the security layout. Security have all been told he mustn't enter the building. And at 20 to8 when CLA's looking at one of her colleagues, she worked on a a cosmetic counter and she's looking at the time and saying, "We're almost done." He comes up behind her, shoots her once in the back of the head, three times in the face, and then he turns the weapon on himself. And the case just changed my understanding of stalking, my understanding of risk. Um, it made me understand we needed to do much more about stalking. It led me to meet the mom, Trisha Bernell, and apologized to her for not doing everything that we could have done to protect her daughter. And then we went on to change the stalking law together. [sighs and gasps] >> I think she was featured on a Netflix documentary. I feel like that's the first time I saw that. Um, looks like the I channel was the one that maybe uh officially interviewed her first. But yeah, I she was the one that articulated how dangerous stalking is the best I have seen so far. calling it a slow murder or a murder in slow motion is the best way I've ever seen stalking phrased. Um, I wanted to show this because yes, that Air Tag thing that Case Stell brought up or put a tracker on somebody's car and and Zach bringing up the um Air Tag stuff, most people might know, but if you go to your Play Store or Apple Store, I don't know what y'all do with iPhones, I'm sorry, but type in Air Tag Detector and make sure you have an app. Hopefully, it's one that can always stay active in the background to let you know there's Air Tags really close to you. And if that's not what you put in your things, you can at least know. Again, it's unfortunately it's mostly documentation, but you can be alert and not have someone using the Air Tag against you because they are those things. I don't like them. I don't like them. I know somebody put it out there to just track your own things so you're not losing little things, but I don't like them at all. I don't. Um, okay. You had a stalker at 19. Oh Lord, I thank God have not experienced that and I hope to never experience that. That is just a constant terror. When do you have peace? When Castle Rock versus Gonzalez, police refused to enforce the restraining order and three children were ended. The Supreme Court said cops couldn't be held responsible. Oh wow. Oh, that's so sad. There was one recent, the most recent one was in Louisiana, wasn't it, that made the big news where he came back and killed all the kids, possibly the mom, too. But I'm just like, oh Lord, there are signs, but it's I don't know. All right, we're watching the one that I told you that it does not end. It ends fatally is what I told you. So, we're about to watch it. It was suggested to me. It says she caught him stalking her and still stayed. Then he came back dressed as a woman. [clears throat] All right, let's let's watch. Let me make sure the speed's correct. Okay. In 2021, Patrice Wilson posted footage from the Ring door camera of her front door that showed a masked man with gloves on stalking her. And she knew exactly who that was. Jir, you breaking in my house? Like, are you serious? You breaking in my house, Jir? >> Why would I break in your house? >> Why are you at my door with gloves on? All that. >> It was a man she had been in a relationship with. Jir Miller. At that time, nobody, not even the people closest to Patrice, fully understood the weight of what that footage represented. Two years later, she went missing after her shift from the hospital where she worked. >> The last time that Patrice was seen was early Saturday morning when she was kidnapped. According to Detroit police, Patrice Wilson was leaving her overnight shift outside [music] a Detroit Medical Center when this suspect, Jir Miller, approached her wearing a blonde wig. Saturday, we spoke to Wilson's mother, Rosalyn Livingston, who at the time told us, >> "I got a call. Uh, someone said they were talking to Patrice on the phone and they heard her screaming. >> Her daughter's phone went dead after that. Detroit police said Miller approached Wilson as she was getting into the driver's side of her car [music] and forced her over, then fled with her inside. Livingston revealed to us that Miller was her daughter's ex-boyfriend and he was obsessive. >> The more she pulled away, uh, he was sending flowers. cuz if you go by her house, there's things at her door that she kind of like left there to let her know that I'm not accepting things from you. >> This same man had been lurking at the parking lot disguised in a wig. >> You're looking at the outside of Detroit Receiving Hospital the morning of May 13th. Officials say the man forced Patrice, his ex-girlfriend, into her car at gunpoint. >> But there was something Patrice never said out loud to anyone. something she reportedly kept in a private note on her phone. The note read, "I'm in love with a man who hurt the mother of his child." When that note surfaced, it for >> All right. Um, I don't know why she left that note to herself with saying that, but this is why I did title the way I titled my this live because for the ones that get into relationships with their stalker. So, this would not apply to the one that he just picked her out and just started stalking her. But, at some point, you didn't have feelings for a person yet. And that's why I'm like, do a background check on that person before you get into a relationship, before you get into your feels. And then you you talk yourself out of paying attention to things. He already has a past, which um the video is going to go into, so I'm not going to like say anything right now, but he has a clear documented past. Patrice uh left behind a uh well, he's not seven now, but at the time, I think her son was seven. um just for the sake of keeping your child safe, I think you should do background checks. And then also before your heart gets involved and you you just again your judgment is clouded, I think you should do a background check. It will not help with people that have worn the mask so well they don't have a record, but there's so many where a background check would help before you get to this point. Um, I am not I don't know what to say, so I'm not going to say it because I might I don't know. I don't want to commit to saying that I'm not doing something, but I actually am doing it. But this is why I'm talking about background checks. He has a clear criminal history. >> Everyone to ask a very different set of questions about this case. How long had she known about this? Because the thing is, Jir's ex-girlfriend, who was the mother of his child, had also gone missing in 2011. The more details came out, the more unsettling this case became. >> Why did you do this to my daughter? Why did you do this to my family? Why? Why? How would you like somebody do that to your mama or your sister? Huh? You think [laughter] you think you thought they would like it? You ain't fit to live. >> Before we get too deep, please remember to like, comment, and subscribe if you find value in these discussions. Patrice Latoya Wilson was born on August 1st, 1993 in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up to become a registered nurse at Detroit Receiving Hospital, part of the Detroit Medical Center, where she had risen through the ranks. She attended Oakland University where she earned her nursing degree and became a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. Outside of her career, Patrice was a devoted mother to her 7-year-old son, Tyrese. Patrice talked about him so much and made sure he was always her first priority, even on the nights she worked long overnight shifts. Patrice was close with her mother, Roslin Livingston, who also worked at Detroit Medical Center. It was actually Rosland who helped Patrice get the job there in the first place. They were not just mother and daughter. They were colleagues at the same hospital in the same building everyday. In December of 2019, Patrice and her best friend Deandra Brown co-founded Nursing from the D, a platform built to celebrate Detroit nurses, connect them, and showcase the joy they found in their work. It was a passion project that >> I'm going to say this now because they also talk about her project at the end. They say the website was active. This was posted two months ago, but when I went to go look for her website because it's it it helps moms that are trying to become nurses specifically. You already have to have a child. It helps them financially, you know, go to nursing school. So, I thought that was really really nice. Um, I put her Instagram in the chat or the the Instagram of this Nursing from the D Instagram account in the chat. I went to the website and it said the domain wasn't there anymore. So, I was like, well, at least I can put the Instagram in there. So, the Instagram is already linked in my description box if you want to look more into this, you know, at some point >> reflected exactly who Patrice was. Someone who genuinely loved her community and wanted to pour [music] into it. Patrice had plans beyond nursing as well. She was building a career, a life, a future for herself and for Tyrese. For a while, she was in a relationship with Jir Mikuel Miller. Jir lived in Inkster, Michigan. His criminal history stretched back years and included weapon charges, substance charges, assault, DUI, and eluding police. DV was also documented in his record. By the time he was in a relationship with Patrice, he was not a stranger to law enforcement. Patrice and Jamir had been in an on andoff relationship for about 3 years. There were moments in that relationship that appeared genuine. They went on dates, outings, and even had custom jewelry made together at one point. But the relationship had a controlling and possessive side to it. Patrice made the decision to end things. And when she did, Jir refused to accept it. He began showing up uninvited. He left flowers and gifts at her front door. Patrice did not throw them away. She left them right there on the doorstep where he could see them untouched. [clears throat] That was a deliberate message. She was making it clear she wanted nothing from him, but he kept sending them anyway. >> The more she pulled away, uh, he was sending flowers. If you go by her house, there's things at her door that she kind of like left there to let him know that I'm not accepting things from you. In 2021, Patrice's Ring doorbell camera captured Jir at her front door, masked, wearing gloves, attempting to get inside. Patrice posted the footage online, and it spread rapidly across social media. But very few people at that time understood the seriousness of what they were actually watching. Now, while all of this was happening, Patrice was holding on to something privately, something she had not told anyone. On December 1st, 2021, she opened her phone and typed a note to herself. That note later became an integral part of this case. In February of 2023, Michigan led authorities to Jir's apartment where they found weapons and substances. That incident alone resulted in 14 separate charges against him. He was already on probation in Washington County and on bond to Judge Cox in third circuit court from a separate incident and was also out on bond for substance possession in Wayne County. After the Ring doorbell incident, Patrice continued trying to move forward with her life. She kept working her overnight shifts at Detroit Receiving Hospital and kept building her plans for the future. Jir, however, did not move on. He created a Facebook album on his profile, Cash King Jir, titled Me and P P P P P P P P P P P P P P P P P P P P P for Patrice. He began uploading to it in batches. The first uploads came on April 28th, 2023. 53 photos and 27 videos, then 35 more photos and six more videos later that same day. On May 3rd, 2023, he uploaded another 39 photos and 15 videos. By the time he was done, the album contained 175 items in total. These included photos and videos of Patrice, of them as a couple and their outings. >> Now, this is She's already broken up with him. She's already broken up with him. Um, that's the same thing to me as when the other person in the video, I think it was the ex-wife with the kids, said he goes into a manic state and just starts texting and texting and texting. This is just another form of that for me. I I I wanted to see the actual post like the pictures when he uploads them if he tagged her in every last one he uploaded because that's just another way to me of you know like cuz she's if she's broken up with you, she's not following your account to see things. But if you're tagging her, if she hasn't blocked you, that's another way for someone to ping her. Keep her mind there just like I'm still I'm still, you know, watching you or I'm still here, you know, all that stuff. I just wonder did he That's what I was thinking. Did he tag her with all these posts and everything? But let's continue. [sighs] >> Some others, however, included mundane things. Patrice cooking, Patrice sleeping, Patrice going about her everyday life, captured in ordinary private moments. Among the items he posted was a photo of the two of them together with a caption that read, "I'll rather try hard than give up. Real man." But the thing is, why did he decide to create this album and post these things now after she had made it clear that she did not want to be with him? Was he going back through years of photos and videos? Was it an attempt to get her back? Was it his way of refusing to let go and show how obsessive he can be? Because the timing of those uploads in relation to everything that came next is something that is difficult to set aside. On May 12th, 2023, Jir posted some photos of himself and wrote this caption, "Trying to be the helping hand to our community." The next morning, he went to the Detroit Receiving Hospital. On May 13th, 2023, which was Mother's Day weekend, Patrice had just finished an overnight shift at Detroit Receiving Hospital, located in the 42000 block of St. Antoine Street in Detroit. She was heading out to the employee parking lot around 7:40 to 7:53 in the morning. She was reportedly on the phone with a friend as she walked to her car. Hospital surveillance cameras captured what happened next. A figure had been in that parking lot for approximately 2 hours before Patrice even walked out. That figure was wearing a long blonde wig, a hat, glasses, a mask, and was also carrying a backpack. He moved through that parking lot with patience, watching and waiting for her to come out. When Patrice reached her vehicle, >> there's when I say this, there is no foolproof way to prevent someone from harming you that is intent on harming you. So, I know when I say this, I'm just saying possible tips. Um, and I don't He had a gun on him. I don't think it would have helped her much, but they do say women take longer than men normally to get into their vehicles. Usually we're carrying more stuff. It's just I don't know. It's a lot going on with us when And if you already have an active stalker too, but even if you don't because you know crime just happens at random as well like they're just waiting on the one the target, get to your car. Well, look around. Get to your car quickly. Do if do not let someone walk up on you. Like when I say don't let I mean like try to ensure no one's following you. He I think he just got her in her you know she's she's getting off of work. She already works overnight and there's just a person that technically in her periphery is is peripheral is not going to look like him. So it's not a threat like had it been if it had have been a guy for sure you know right there beside her. But when you have someone actively coming after you like that and like she said, you trying to break into my house and things, look around. Look around. Be quick. Have that door unlocked as soon as you're about to put your hand on it. Get in that car and lock it. For her, this would not have been the thing cuz he pushed her into her car. I don't know how much Well, the the video shows it. It's She didn't have a lot. This is just more for in general safety. Yeah, situational awareness. Thank you. I couldn't get the phrase in my head. It's just so much. And you have to be on all the time. It takes one slip up to not notice your surroundings. And that might be the the only one that they need. But yeah, don't take a long time getting in your car. Hop in there, lock that door. Try to have all your things gathered while you're still in your building or your house so you can make a beline to that car and get in that car because that is a very vulnerable time right there. Um, you know, they they say, but he already uh they're going to say he already he I don't know. I think he shot her as soon as he got in the car. Um, I don't think she had passed at that moment for sure, but he did shoot her as soon as he got her in the car, pushed her over to the passenger seat, and then he drove off in her car. Um, so there's a lot of different scenarios. So, I know not it's not a one-sizefits-all thing. Um, it's just a lot. Oh, and I was trying to lead to saying that if you can get back out of the car, do your best, too. Because they always say your chances go down significantly if they can keep you and take you away from where they got you in the first place. And I'm saying this understanding, nothing is 100% going to protect anybody. >> Jamir moved. He approached from the back passenger side of the car and shot her. Then he got into the driver's seat of her vehicle and drove away. The friend on the phone with Patrice heard her scream and then the line went silent. Rosland Livingston, Patrice's mother, spoke to the media that same day. She had not yet received word of what had happened to her daughter and was pleading for her safe return. Patrice's grandmother, Pamela Golden, also spoke to reporters. Detroit police were notified and an urgent search was launched immediately. Patrice's vehicle description and Jir's image were distributed. On May 13th, 2023, the Detroit Police Department posted on their official Facebook page that they were searching for Jir Miller in connection to their belief that Patrice was being held against her will. Lady, >> before she goes on, I didn't realize I would have as many of y'all that have ex been a victim of stalking in here. So, I actually appreciate cuz I feel like it's more empathetic because there's been real world circumstances. Um, this is I honestly didn't expect that many people to say they have been a victim of stalking like that. I could see and is interacting with me. Um, so yes, please keep dropping your tips in here too if you have any any other resources that are coming to your mind. Just any deterrent. Um, yes, phones. Phones are a huge huge distraction. Huge. Um, Lisa Love said, "I had a professor in undergrad that stopped me. I left school for a semester. When I returned, I had to make it a point to never be alone because that was the only time he would try to approach me." Uh-huh. They definitely like it when you're most vulnerable and solo. They not they not always. We saw that 19-year-old that didn't care who was looking, but a lot of them don't want everybody to see them in that light. Um, it's it's just ridiculous. My daughter and I also have a personal safety alarm. Once you pull that pen, it is loud as hell. Get one. Oh, like on your person. Aqua Queen, a personal safety alarm. Is that what you're saying? I got to put it in my notebook. You have to always be in protection mode. You have to do your best to try. And I need to be better cuz I get accused of not being aware of my own surroundings a lot, which and I know better. Ace Moonshot said, "Yes, fighting versus submission. You just can't tell which will work and which will make it worse. So, I can't blame anyone making either choice. You can't. Exactly. I'm with you. You cannot. All we have are gathered suggestions. That's all we have. Yep. Mace. Um there's a certain size of mace that if you do work on like a a military base, apparently you can carry it as long as it's a certain amount of ounces. And when I had got the last active shooter training I got, um the guy said, "Get the same exact type of mace, go into your yard or wherever, practice with one can." So then you actually might have to trigger the mace for real for real. You're already used to uh wielding it properly, not spraying yourself in the eyes, knowing how to actually activate it because sometimes it takes a little bit of extra twist or something like that. So that's a tip he gave. Get two two two things of mace, keychain mace. Get two of them. Practice with one. Have these the identical one. So when you're you need to use it, you're already familiar with how it specifically works. Lisa said, "I get triggered when I see people walking around with their eyes glued to their phone." That's that's all there is now, too. Aqua Queen said, "If you just start dating someone, do not give them your personal number. Give them a Google voice number because they can do reverse search and find out where you live." That's a really good one. That's a great one. And then women that aren't trying to give away their real numbers too and they they don't want to be contacted period. Even if they're not trying to date somebody, a Google voice number might help there as well. I I know it does this little pre greetings so they're going to know it's Google voice, but it's better. It's better than them having your real number. A steel whistle. Okay. Ace moonshot. Okay. Okay. Aqua Queen say, "Yep." On her person keeps hers on a keychain. I'm going to have to look up a personal alarm. Yeah. You have to always be prepared. I learned to never park in the same place. Two people have my location, and if, god forbid, something happens to me, there's someone who knows who would want to harm me. Yep. Yep. changing your routine, changing your routes home or or uh your routes to your regular places you go. Changing your times a little bit helps. Um yeah, get one. I'm g I need to look into it, too. I'm put on my wish list quickly. Um there was Oh, Auntie Natty, I was going to come back to you. I'm so glad my brain didn't fail me on this one. Auntie Natty said, "Why didn't security make him leave two hours in a parking lot is loitering?" I have questions. My first question is their policy about this because do they have a certain time? Is it purely discretion we go off of on this? Like what what is that that you see someone there for two hours? It's outside of a hospital. So I just wonder is that ordinary, not ordinary? Like I don't there's so many questions I have when it comes to that cuz what is security's policy on that? their hospital security policy on that. Someone just hanging out for two hours because you also could have someone in surgery. You know what I mean? I Well, she was a nurse at a normal hospital. So, yeah, there could be somebody in surgery. So, what what if it's a family member waiting on a patient then it's like you're harassing me, you're profiling me. Like, it's oh my it seemed like you can just get caught up so many ways. So, I'm not right now I'm not 100% against what happened, but I when they talk about once they saw on the camera or found out she was being kidnapped, how long it took them to alert either authorities or the family, my side, eye for sure is strong there for sure. But I don't know how you what's normal outside of a hospital. Later that same day around 2 p.m. Detroit police were notified that Patrice's vehicle had been located at an apartment complex near Hagerty and 9M in Novi, Michigan. When officers arrived and searched the vehicle, they found Patrice in the rear of the car. She had lost her life. That apartment complex in Novi was not a random location. It was Patrice's own apartment complex. Jir had driven her approximately 30 m from the hospital to her own home. At some point between leaving the hospital and arriving in Novi, Jir stopped at a car wash in Inkster. He was no longer wearing the wig, the hat, or the mask. >> Um, let me Yes. I'm so sorry cuz I was thinking about people uh for places that is normally banned. But yes, yes, yes. If you don't have to go anywhere on like official locations, government locations, carry the strongest of the strong. Carry the bare mace for sure. The Carolina Reaper. Like, who said that just now? Lisa Love. Get the strongest stuff. Yes. Yes. Yes. The the as many ounces as you can carry. Get the good stuff. I'm so sorry. I need to circle back to that. Yes, I agree. >> According to reports, he was cleaning the vehicle. Rosland received the news that her daughter had been found. Patrice co-workers at Detroit Receiving Hospital were equally devastated. The nursing community at DMC felt the loss deeply. Many of them had worked alongside her everyday. The investigation that followed involved Detroit Police Department's Major Crimes Division, Organized Crimes Division, Homicide Unit, Fugitive Apprehension Team, Special Response Team, Headquarter Surveillance, the Third Precinct, and additional law enforcement partners. Multiple search warrants were executed across Detroit, Inkster, Garden City, and Novi. Jir's face was on every local news channel. His image was circulating across social media and the pressure of the investigation was building. On May 14th, 2023, Jamir Miller negotiated his surrender through his attorney and turned himself in to Detroit police. >> Police found Wilson's vehicle at her apartment complex in Novi. Her body was discovered in the trunk. After several search warrants were executed, the suspect uh feeling the pressure of this investigation. Uh due to all of the search warrants, all of the activities by those agencies that I just identified, uh the suspect uh negotiated his surrender via his lawyer. >> On May 15th, 2023, the Detroit Police Department made an official public announcement confirming the arrest. Chief James White confirmed that Patrice Wilson's case was being classified as a domestic related incident. >> Domestic violence continues to be a problem in our community. Uh we have resources. We have uh domestic violence victim assistance uh [music] units in our agency and they can be reached at 3138831660. >> Now when news of Jir's arrest spread, something else surfaced alongside it. A family in the Detroit area had been waiting for answers for 12 years. And the moment they saw that Jir Miller was connected to Patrice's case, those 12 years came rushing back. Her name was Bianca Green. >> Now, let's go back to March 25th of 2011. That's when the family of an expected mother named Bianca Green urged the public to help find her. She had gone missing from Romulus and has never been found. Green's family asking for help at a Crimestoppers event at that time. And standing right there, Bianca Green's boyfriend at the time, Jamir Miller, the same man police say abducted Patrice Wilson Saturday morning. Detroit police James White says the missing case of Bianca Green and if Miller is involved in her disappearance is now a new and wide openen investigation. >> Bianca Green was 24 years old in 2011 and was a nursing student. She was also the mother of a 4-year-old son, Jir Jr., who she shared with Jir Miller. At the time she disappeared, she was believed to be around 6 to 8 weeks into a second pregnancy. Bianca was last seen on March 25th, 2011 in the Romulus and Ingster area of Michigan. Her last known residence was the Gateway Town Homes, formerly known as Sky Harbor in Romulus. The last confirmed sighting of her was at her mother's workplace on the 410 block of Harriet Street in Ingster. >> This is what I was thinking, Aqua Queen. When I'm sitting there looking at it, I'm like, this man is sitting here on camera knowing holding his son of with the Okay, I don't even know how to phrase this. holding his son who is the product of him and the mom that he killed and then acting like he's looking for her too, which he's never been convicted of her missing or even charged. But after the what he did with um Patrice, I'm like there's for me I'm done. I that's there's no no other explanation. I know that doesn't give police enough without something else as well possibly. Well, maybe they're looking into it now. They might go back and look into it. But before then, um maybe they couldn't find anything. But for me, just the uh the jury of what they say court of public opinion. He did it. He did it. And he is sitting there on camera like he really looking for her, wanting to find out what happened to her. You're Hold on. Oh god. Jesus, something my throat. Auntie Natty, you're right. He does have a type. He has he he does seem to go after nurses. Aqua Queen said, "This is so damn creepy. Probably hearing the baby beg and cry for his mom." Probably. >> Bianca's family had always believed something was wrong. They said she would never have walked away from her son voluntarily. According to her family, Bianca had spent an entire year trying to get away from Jir Miller before she disappeared. She had moved and kept her location hidden from him because she was afraid of him. That's how serious the situation had become. Around 2012, about a year after Bianca vanished, Jamir Miller appeared in a video where he was holding his son and asked the public for help in finding Bianca. >> It's hard being a a single father and it's hard for for me to even tell him what's going on. We ain't never give up hope, but we was trying to give J the benefit of the doubt. >> But now, after 12 years, this family is questioning everything after learning Miller was arrested in connection to Patrice's death. In Bianca's case, family always suspected foul play. You know, she wouldn't have left Jir Jr. >> She wouldn't have never left Jir. That was her like her velcro. She wouldn't have never left her son. He was questioned by police at the time, but he was never charged in connection with her disappearance. Now, in 2023, after Jir's arrest for Patrice's passing, the Detroit police chief confirmed that investigators were working with Romulus police to re-examine Bianca's case. >> Okay. Um, Lisa Love said, "Most nurses have a personality type caring, compassionate, and empathetic." Did I even think about that. I didn't even think about that. That would be a type to pick out. That's very true. >> As the investigation progresses, police are looking into any potential ties Miller could have to the 2011 disappearance of Bianca Green, the mother of his child. >> I know our detectives are in contact uh with the agency of origin uh on that particular missing persons. U we're going to cooperate with them uh pull their files and we'll be working together to see if there's any correlation or if there's anything we can help them with. The concerning part is the two women had more in common than most people initially realized. Bianca was a nursing student. Patrice was a nurse. Both were mothers. Both were in their 20s. Both had been in relationships with Jir Miller. Both had been trying to leave him and both ended up gone. Patrice lost her life and Bianca is still missing. Now, going back to that private note on Patrice's phone, the one dated December 1st, 2021, she reportedly wrote, "I'm in love with a man who hurt the mother of his child." Now, that statement, "I'm in love with a man who hurt the mother of his child." How long had she known that? And how much did she know about Bianca's disappearance? Hundreds of people gathered at El Bethl Baptist Church in Redford Township for a celebration of Patrice's life, organized by her sorority sisters and co-workers. On May 18th, 2023, the Metro Detroit chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority hosted a community vigil in Redford Township centered around honoring Patrice's life and raising awareness. this big light of mine. [singing] >> It's been a difficult week filled with tears and sadness for friends, family, Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority sisters, and co-workers of Patrice Wilson. But last night, hundreds came together at El Bethl Church in Redford for a celebration of life for Patrice, sharing a message of hope for a kind and loving soul. >> I'm happy today to see all these people out cuz we all love her so much. And I'm just I'm just happy. My heart is full. >> Her sority sisters planned the vigil and say Patrice was more than just a role model, a mentor, a friend, and a mother. >> Patrice was just beautiful. She was beautiful. Her soul was, her smile was, the way she carried herself. >> She was a great nurse. She did great in school. Um, and you know, I am just speechless about what's going on right now. This shouldn't have been the way that, you know, that she passed. And you know, but I'm glad that people are coming together. memory of her. >> We have members who are friends of the family and so we graciously uh wanted to do whatever we could in this tragic situation. >> This vigil at El Bethl Church, a sign of what Patrice Wilson meant to everyone she touched from her family to her co-workers and her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority sisters at Oakland University. >> There's always going to be the fun parts about the sority, but >> oh the purple cuz I was like I don't think her favorite color was purple for sure. Usually once people become like their sorority things, they kind of like the colors of their sorority. Not saying all, but I was looking at the purple, but I think purple's the color for domestic violence awareness, isn't it? I think it is, cuz I was looking at the purple balloons and everything. >> But this type of thing right here is what matters the most. >> Her sorority sisters planned the vigil and say Patrice was not just a sister, but a role model, a mentor, and a friend. A GoFundMe was set up to assist with funeral expenses and provide support for her son. Patrice's visitation was held on May 24th, 2023. Family and loved ones gathered to lay her to rest on May 25th, 2023. >> We just once again send a salute to Miss Patrice to let her know that we love her. We love her. We love her. Never forgotten. Amen. On June 1st, 2023, Jamir Miller was formally arraigned on 11 charges related to Patrice's case, including first-degree charges, felony, carjacking, armed robbery, one count of felon in possession of a firearm and five counts of felony firearm. He appeared via Zoom for the arraignment. >> That says division one, floor 6, hallway. >> Can you hear me, sir? All right, stand by. Your attorney is here. Okay. Uh, >> what happened to him? >> Okay, before they go on, he's in the top right if you can't see him or if you're looking for him. But, um, Kawasaki said, "Sometimes these kind of men are jealous of your success. He was a multiple felon." That's a red flag in itself. Ex. And hence, I'm just saying before you catch feelings, as soon as you get a a first and last name, before you catch feelings, we are doing background checks because you start getting clouded when feelings get involved because that history alone, let's say she didn't have the self-preservation for herself. Maybe she would have had it for the fact that she already had a child. just I just if you see because like right now I don't know none of these people from a can of paint. If I'm looking at their background I don't know you. I'm already like hell no because I'm seeing your background. We're not there's nothing there's nothing moving forward. And I just wish um more people would even if you feel like this is the most nicest make you feel safest person even if they saved you from somebody else that was dangerous cuz that's a setup sometimes too make you then feel like the you know they're the white knight of it all. Do a background check anyway. Do one anyway. Just just do it. just because it could turn you. Now, for people that already kind of are like they don't mind felons with violent past, I don't know what to tell them. I don't know. But if you just didn't have a choice and you didn't consciously look into their background, please just look into their background. You're not going to want to do it once you start catching feelings cuz now you don't want to find out. Um, there was something else. Something else I was going to say. Okay, he's in the top right hand corner. I'll come back if I remember what else I was going to say. >> Vincent, >> well, no, because he is the one that he said that he was going to be on this Miller and they need him now. [clears throat] >> Is he in the back? >> I remember what I was going to say. It was about the successful comment that Kawasaki put up there or that I put up there that that they typed. Do did y'all see the one where she was was she running for mayor or governor or congress or something and they were still I think actively in a relationship and the guy killed her just basically it looked like it was a fragile ego cuz she she already oh my gosh I can't remember what she was doing before she was running for a an office I just can't remember which office it was a local one I think but he killed her and it was like it just came down to she had more goals But she was sharing everything with him and it's just like some can't still handle that even if she I don't I don't know. I don't know what it is. But I don't know. I you know I'm not one to give relationship advice. I'm just going to say do background checks. That's all I have. >> Pardon me. >> I did never got another chance to look at it. Okay. Mr. Miller Council Woodside. All right. This is sir, Mr. Miller. This is Magistrator Charta. Good afternoon. I'm going to let you know the case number. Case number is 23057155 01. People state of Michigan versus Jir Michaelel Miller. Please say your full name, sir. You need to speak up, sir. >> Jamir Mike Miller. Okay, you have an attorney. Go ahead, councel. >> Good afternoon, young mayor, please. Honorable court Sharon Clark with appearing on behalf of and with Mr. Jir Miller who is present. We don't object to proceeding via Zoom. >> Okay, council. What's P number? >> 41295. >> 41295. >> Yes. >> Okay. Thank you. All right. All right. You wait for Marines. Stand mute, ma'am. >> Uh, yes, your honor. I've been advised. >> Okay. I'm going to interpate. Thank you, ma'am. minimum and enter of not guilty. Court dates are June 15, 2023, probable cause conference which is at 8:30 in the morning followed by preliminary examination June 22nd, 2023 145. Both matters are in front of Judge King. Mr. Miller, there are some bonding conditions. One, you're not to have contact with any witnesses in this case. Do you understand that? >> Yes. Also, um I'm writing this on your paperwork and you're not to have no weapons of any kind, firearms or homemade uh weapons. You understand that, sir? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And your honor, I would also like to speak to when you have a chance. Who's who is also on behalf of the people? >> Well, council, I didn't ask. You were here and you said you were on Were you on Dorf Dormick? Were you on Miller or were you on something else? >> Miller. >> Okay, then I stand corrected. Apologize. I apologize. >> Okay, I'm about to fast forward through this part because that's just a real thing and she she got the judge got a lot going on. Um, per Aqua Queen said purple queen. Yes, it's worth the money, especially if dating or even just forming new friendships because women get crazy with destiny swapping as well. We watch a lot of bad video. Well, not bad videos that have stories that end fatally over here, which you know, Aqua Queen. And I'm just thinking about those women that go around, they join those little pregnancy Facebook groups. Next thing you know, they lose their baby, they steal in your baby, and you I ain't going to say you hope, but basically, they don't care if the baby's still in your body. they're going to get that baby. You know what I mean? So, I am so with you on doing background checks on everybody just because you just don't know. I'm with you on that. Don't even just limit it to people you might be dating. APA Winston. Okay. All right. All right. Uh with that being said, okay, those bond conditions, everybody's aware of the charges. uh council or APA dormant. Go ahead. >> Your honor, I am asking uh for remand in this case. The defendant is charged in this case with first-degree murder, felony murder, carjacking, armed robbery. >> Ma'am, you don't need to give me all that information. I already know what the charges are >> and I I appreciate that. Judge, I think remand is >> okay. Nobody. >> Cases [music] like this are happening all over Wayne County. She and the chief of Detroit police say they are hoping this case involving the Detroit nurse will bring more awareness to the problem. >> The defendant was a man that allegedly would not leave her alone, would not respond to her wishes to leave her alone. >> Wayne County prosecutor Kim Worthy says the most dangerous time for a domestic violence victim [music] is when the person tries to leave a relationship. Patrice Wilson, by all accounts, was a hardworking woman, great mother. >> Worthy says that's exactly what Detroit nurse Patrice Wilson was trying to do before her ex-boyfriend Jir Miller allegedly killed her. >> She was simply trying to live her life, work hard, and break off a relationship that she knew was not good for her. >> It's unfortunate. It's sad. It's tragic. And we need to do something more. Um, and and I'm hopeful that, you know, this will spur on more change. But um no, it's very tragic about >> I think Kim Worthy was the same one. Is she the DA that they say? I was I was in the um I was in the chat, but she's the same one that brought Jarvis Butts uh in because they felt like even without finding Nia Harris's remains, they had enough to be to believe and try to prove he was the one that that uh killed her. Um she's the same one. I remember watching her press conferences a couple times. So, it's it's it's kind of sad and it's interesting to see her again, but woo, every time I see her, it's cuz somebody is not alive anymore. >> Each and every victim has lost their life. And domestic violence homicide is a tragic situation and it's one that I hope people will begin to take seriously and seek help for our victim. >> On June 22nd, 2023, the preliminary examination was held and the case was moved forward to circuit court. It's the matter of the people of state of Michigan versus Jir Miller. >> Jir Miller facing a judge this morning with 14 charges against him from an incident in Taylor earlier this year. An undercover officer revealed Miller allegedly had guns, ammunition, and drugs in his apartment. >> They were suspected suspected of being fentanyl, heroin. All that though comes second to the murder charges he's facing. Today's hearing was for the judge to make sure there's enough evidence for a trial. Miller will be back in court on the murder charges on July 11th. On August 1st, 2023, what would have been Patrice's 30th birthday, her family gathered in Southfield alongside their attorney, Michael Forner, and announced a $200 million lawsuit against Detroit Medical Center and Tenant Healthcare. On Patrice Wilson's 30th birthday, her family gathered not in celebration, but in remembrance, announcing a lawsuit in the death of the young mother and nurse. The suit is filed against Detroit Medical Center where Patrice rose through the ranks as a nurse. >> She had the passion for caring for people. You're looking at the outside of Detroit receiving hospital the morning of May 13th. Officials say the man forced Patrice, his ex-girlfriend, into her car at gunpoint. He was wearing a blonde wig, hat, and mask. Police say Patrice was later found stuffed in the trunk, shot to death. her family wanting to know how DMC security didn't spot the potential threat. >> There was someone lurking around the their premises before Patrice even got off of work hours before she got off of work. So that tells me no one was looking at the cameras. Lawyers for the family say the hospital failed to follow protocols and didn't call police until 2 hours after she disappeared. They also believe the negligence was racially motivated. >> We feel that their actions speak louder than any words they can give us or in this case their inaction. But it's a murder that could have been prevented had DNC hospital stepped up and done what they were supposed to do in terms of protecting her and other nurses who work down there. Attorney Michael Forner seeking $200 million from Tenant Healthc Care and DMC, saying there was surveillance video of Patrice's alleged killer lurking around the hospital grounds as he waited for her to get off her shift as a nurse. But Fortner says security did not step in. And that's not all. >> Doesn't get past us. We feel that had she been one of those white nurses down there, they would have announced it immediately and maybe the young lady would still be alive. Instead, they waited 3 4 hours. my understanding is to tell anybody including the family after they were after they were notified that she'd been kidnapped >> her seven-year-old >> for now for me the concrete part about that is they were notified that she was kidnapped and they didn't take any action till 2 three hours later after being notified that that's the part that got me I'm like I'm sorry what nowbody >> including the family after they were after they were notified that she'd been kidnapped >> her seven-year-old son Tyra Reese was there Tuesday wearing a shirt that showed the good times with his mom. >> For me, it's been really hard, but I'm trying to be strong for my grandson. >> DMC released this statement that says in part, "The DMC stands behind our security team who acted swiftly to notify and engage local law enforcement to apprehend the asalent. We continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement as they prosecute this individual for the crime committed. We cannot comment on pending litigation. >> Patrice's sister, Destiny Livingston, also spoke at the press conference. >> She was a very genuine person and very smart and intelligent, kind and loving and caring. It's just unbelievable that she's not here. >> On October 10th, 2023, Jamir Miller pleaded guilty to one count of secondderee homicide. The remaining 10 charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement that carried a sentence of 35 to 60 years. On November 7th, 2023, the sentencing hearing took place before Judge Kevin Cox at Frank Murphy Hall of Justice in Detroit. Patrice's family got their moment to speak directly to the man who had taken her from them. The first victim impact statement was Rosyn Livingston's read by the attorney. >> Today, I will be the voice of my daughter Patrice. I was sitting going through my daughter's phone and her notes back in December 1st. >> Okay, I I want to clear this up because when I watched this the first time, I got mixed up. So, the attorney is reading Patrice's mom's statement. The woman in the gray hair that's going or has gray hair that's going to speak is not Patricia Patrice's mom. She's a I think she's a relative. She might be Patrice's grandmother or something else, but that is not her mom. Her mom is not currently present. her mom was in the press conference that y'all saw with the shorter hair and they showed her that she and Patrice were both nurses at the same hospital. So, just want to straighten that out. This attorney that's reading on behalf of Patrice's mom right now because you'll see her speak again later. And then um there'll be the gray-haired woman that comes up that I I'm assuming right now she's Patrice's grandmother because I don't remember what they said she was to Patrice. So, we'll see when they actually say it. of 2021, she wrote to herself, "I'm in love with a man who murdered the mother of his child. So I ask you, judge, as you sentenced this monster, took her life duties away as a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a woman who served her community as a nurse, to show no mercy." Thank you. Um, the second victim impact statement I have is from Kis, K A L I S E. Thomas Jir, you my best friend and my first cousin, Patrice. Your horrendous act has devastated my family and destroyed her mother. The sleepless nights are too numerous to count. The nightmares, the endless stream of tears haven't stopped, nor will they anytime soon. Patrice could light up a room. Her infectious smile, her giddy laugh. To hear her voice again as I walk through the door to her, "Hey girl," is all a distant memory. The tremendous void will never be filled and the heartbreak will never go away. All we have is photos and videos, just memories. But the memory of Patrice will live forever. My only regret is that I didn't hug my cousin once more. Jary, you took Patrice away from her child, her family, and friends for your own satisfaction. Deary, you hurt us in a way that's indescribable. You have [snorts] not showed any mercy for your cowardly act since May 13th of 2023. From that time you talked to your mom on the jail phone as you blamed everyone but yourself. Your nonchalant attitude in the courtroom or via Zoom makes me sick to my stomach. No amount of time that you plead to will ever give my family the closure that we need or better yet deserve. All you have left is prison. You will forever be known as a murderer. Every time your cell door slams shut, may it be a reminder of what you did, taking Patrice's life. You don't deserve the privilege of being a free man ever again. You are evil, and I hope every day of your life, my first friend and my first cousin, Patrice, stays on your mind. >> Um, now, your honor, um, Mr. Jeffrey Moore. >> Okay, I think that was that the cousin? Okay, that was the cousin. I thought they said she was reading on behalf of the mom, too. >> Like to make a statement. >> All right, Mr. Moore. Uh, where you're standing is fine. You see the Well, you're fine there, [music] too. Uh, that device that's right in front of you that's black and red, that is a microphone and a recorder. So, um, first of all, thank you for being here. Uh, this is your opportunity to address the court, and I'm interested to hear what you have to say. >> Thank you. [clears throat] My beloved niece was not just a nurse but a caring and selfish mother who dedicated her life to helping others. She had a heart of gold, always giving back to others. Our bond was strong and we supported each other thick and thin. Her absence has left an irreplaceable void in our lives. Her memory will forever be [snorts] the source of inspiration and love. The loss of Patrice, who I love dearly, has left our family shattered. Her big smile, kindness, and sweetness defines her. And even though we would never comprehend why this tragedy occurred during her untimely death, her death has not only robbed her of a bright future, but also left her son growing up without a without his loving mother. The question of why and how this could ever happen will forever t will forever haunt us as a family as we try to come to terms with the profound grief and emptiness left in the wake of her loss. I will never forgive you Jir. I hope this court sentenced him to the maximum and show no mercy. >> Thank you. Honor. [clears throat] Um, Mr. Tyrese Bry would also like to speak. >> Tyrese Barry, the father of Patrice's son, spoke. His words were direct and personal. >> Pretty sure you already know what I want to say to you, but I just want you to realize and remember what you took. You was around her and stink every day. every day. And I told her about you and she still trusted you. Every time you sent the little Bretts, I told her every time, "Don't be scared of him. He don't do that to men. He never did that to men." It's nobody in this world that is scared of you as a man, bro. You scared. >> I was going to try to let him finish before I did this. I was going to try, but I am very bad at this and I know it. Let me go ahead and insert my bias cuz I washed her head. What the hell do you mean you told her not to be scared of him? Cuz he only does it to women. She's a woman. So, yeah, it was aimed at her. Did you bop him a couple time? Did you do anything to show him why to be scared of a man and leave her alone? Like, I don't I don't quite care for his delivery. I understand the anger and make him make Jir feel like dirt. I have no problem with that. But I I I feel like the words he was supposed to think out to get that over to Jir like the last parts he says like he'll be like um everybody's going to forget you. That that's great. That's a bar. But what do you mean I told her not to be scared of you? How does that help her? It's a couple things that bothers me that he says, "I know what he's trying to do, but he bothered me." >> Women, but you were scared of her cuz she wasn't scared of you. And that's what you did. But see, my son got closure. He know what you did. He He know. He know. He know. [snorts] But do your son got closure. Do your son got closure for what you did? You man enough to tell everybody what you did to my baby mama? What did you do to yours? [snorts] >> That question, what did you do to yours? Was a direct public reference to Bianca Green. >> You got your people here. You got your mama here. You embarrassed your family for life. For what? You risked it for this. You put on a wig. A wig. Why is you hard? You still acting like you hard. You cannot act like you hard, bro. You crying yourself to sleep. You miss the tree so much. Yeah, you shaking your head. That's right. That's right. Stand Stand down. Stand down. >> Why don't you speak to the court and not to Mr. >> Well, the court should know that that was mother of my son. He took her. She wasn't scared of him. at all. She fought back. That's why you lost and she won. Why do you think you won? Speak to me, please. >> See, it's it's a couple sentences. That's why you lost and she won. I'm There's probably something very meaningful he means by this. I don't want to put what I think he's trying to say in there because I don't know if I if he deserves for me to give him the credit of thinking he's saying what I think he's saying. But that is a crazy thing to be saying right now that you lost and she won. I I don't know. It's like the flare for the dramatic versus like just get in his behind and make your impact statement and let it be what it is. It's something about it. I don't quite like it. Okay. Purple Queen. Purple Queen. Okay. Thank you. Oh my god. when I was watching this by myself. You don't understand. Okay. Thank y'all. All right. Well, I let him Q time. >> He did not win. He lost. This is a L forever. His family. Look at the embarrassment that he just showed. He in here shaking his head. Your honor like, "Yeah." Oh, man. You know you crying yourself to sleep. You about to take this plea. Take it. Just know that he will never make it out of this. It's going to be them calls and they going to be fading. Family going to forget about you. Your mama going to forget about you. Your friends, your cousins, everybody, they going to forget about you. But I'mma leave it at if you think you going to make it out of this, I don't know what type of God you praying to. >> I'm going leave it at that. >> Thank you, sir. >> Jir sat there and said nothing. >> Um, yeah. Uh, Miss Chanel Anthony would like to read uh the impact statement that her son Brandon, a cousin of Patrice, wrote. >> Good morning. Yeah, I needed him to sit down a lot earlier too. Noir, maybe had he written down his thoughts, maybe it I wouldn't feel like I feel now, but it does feel like I just want to be seen. I'm like, if I Googled him, when I find out he is still trying to be a rapper in Detroit type energy, like that's what I feel like. Like, are you trying to be you got a podcast? Like, I don't know. It's something about it. It didn't let me trust it. It did not. I didn't trust it. And it it was the what got me the most was one of his first sentences saying, "I told her not to be afraid of you. Afraid of you cuz he don't do this to men." Did you threaten him like this while he before he got to her like, you know, for the final time? Did you buck up at his face and and make him know like she has men in her life? I don't know. Like it's it seemed like he got a podcast. That's all I'm going to say. If not a rapper, he got a podcast. >> My baby cousin was murdered. This is a sant sentence that I struggle to say because this makes it reality. The reality now is that another child has to live without their mother. Another beautiful black woman destroyed rather than love and cherish. Another sibling enduring agonizing pain because of a person not fit to be labeled as a man. Not even worthy of being called a human. The bricks and bars that would be in his place of residence and resting place is much of a blessing. Patrice was always full of life. Whenever I would drive up from Georgia and see my cousin, she always had a smile big enough to fill a room. I honestly believe she was the first person I recognized that had dimples. Me and her older brother were cousins, but we were just like brothers. He was also taken too soon as well as due to a tragic hit and run accident. [snorts] Patrice, my family were devastated by the sudden loss. Patrice adored me man. He was her night and shining armor. I can still hear how he made her laugh. It was years and years after Man's death until I can come back to to Detroit because [snorts] when I look at Patrice, I could only see my cousin Man. When I finally saw Patrice again, she was just starting high school. She was a beautiful black woman. The thing that made her so special is that her soul matched her appearance. I was so proud to see that she did excellence, beautiful, smart, and driven in school and she furthered her career. When I would talk to her about college, I gave her tips that would help her into graduation. She did that and so much more. Patrice was one of the younger cousins that you just knew whenever they did, she would be successful. I just want to thank Patrice for motivating me as a father of daughters to see what determination and perseverance looks like. I love you baby c until I see that beautiful smile again. >> Thank you. >> Then Pamela Golden, Patrice's grandmother, stood up and what she said in that courtroom stayed with everyone who witnessed it. >> I am so angry. But you have caused on my family me [laughter] you know it's almost like words I don't even want to if I can say to you I don't I don't understand you what kind of person are you where you come from who can even support you right now you know this the hurt that you have caused on my [snorts] family you don't deserve You need life forever. [clears throat] It's It's not even It's hard for me to talk now cuz what I really like to say or touch what kind of person were you? What [snorts] kind of person are you to do this to her? Every time you think about her, think about you told how much you love her. How could you love a person? You took her life. How is that love? Is that really love? Man. Oh, I wish you can get up and talk, but talk to me. Me. I'm the one that you should have met. Really? Should have been me. Why did you do this to my child? Why did you do this to my family? Why? Why? How would you like somebody do that to your mama or your sister? Huh? You thought that [laughter] You think you thought they would like it? You were a fit to live and I shouldn't say it but it's real cuz I don't believe people should take other people life not like that you is not right don't you understand me you should have been me instead of I gave you your match Trust me, [clears throat] I'm glad I never see you again cuz I'll be too. I wanted life. You should have got life. Life. My daughter was She felt sorry for it was left up to me. You'd have got life. I don't I wouldn't have been here to see it and I probably I'm not going to be here when you get up, but I hope somebody will touch you when you know what I'm talking about. Thank you, Miss Goldston. [snorts] Prosecutor, do you wish to [laughter] say anything? [snorts] >> Um, I [sighs] the grandmother, she got me. I also did want to see his face, although I know it wouldn't have given much, but I did want to see his face. And I do want to point out how although the grandmother also spoke directly to him, you see how the judge didn't interrupt her because it was different from how that uh the father of Patrice's child spoke to him. It was on a different wavelength to me. And I'm with y'all. The other statements, including grandmother, is a real victim impact statement. What that the one in the shades was doing, I don't know what that was. And I do, I ain't gonna lie, I feel validated that y'all saw through him because I'm like I'm struggling on this one. It just it feels like a performance. Um, I'll say it again. I want to see his reaction to these words. I hope they weren't talking to the back of his head. I hope not either. But now the way he's facing Dang. Maybe maybe they actually were cuz he probably gonna have to look at them. Excuse me. Um, [clears throat] all right. Yeah, Jim Pop Justice, I'm with you, Aqua Queen. I don't care. It's the same thing I wish for Jarvis butts, and he ain't on this earth no more. So, whatever happened happened. I don't care. I don't. There are some I will not hold any sympathy for. I didn't do it, but I don't care what happened to him. >> [clears throat] >> Uh we're here today because the defendant pled guilty to what could only be described as a brutal, faultless, senseless act of domestic violence. The defendant uh as evidenced from his pre-sentence report has a history of domestic violence between other women and [snorts] obviously now Miss Wilson. The defendant in his pre-sentence report made a comment about this offense and his comment about this was that it was unnecessary and should not have happened. The people agree that that statement on the part of the defendant is 100% accurate. >> Can you do the prosecutor the courtesy of listening to her as she's addressed and reported on behalf of the [clears throat] people of the state? >> Yes, your honor. I was >> But you were also speaking. So, I'm going to ask you to pay attention to what's going on. Go ahead, M. [snorts] [clears throat] >> Thank you, Judge. Um, that statement is 100% accurate. This was a crime that never should have happened because he never should have went to Detroit Receiving Hospital that morning. But he did out of jealousy, out of anger. We don't know. But he went there with a purpose. He went there to stalk Patrice. He went there to ambush her. And he did. 35 years isn't enough for somebody's life. It isn't. I agree with Miss Goldston, but it is a reasonable plea given the circumstances of the case, given his guidelines, and I ask the court to impose that 35 to 60ear sentence that the people and the defendant have agreed to. I thank the court for their time and thank everyone for being here today. [snorts] All right. >> Jir Miller also had a statement. He only read part of it himself before his lawyer took over and finished it for him. >> I hate that she finished his statement. And I don't think we get to hear him even read partial of the a partial part of the statement. Um Detroit click on um oh my gosh, it was Click on Detroit that did most of the news. They probably are the ones that also attended this trial live. So, they may have him actually reading the statement out loud, but I wanted to hear what he the lies he wrote. Basically, I I did. And I do wonder if she's a public defender or a paid attorney. I always wanted every time I see people defending certain people, I'm like, "Okay, are you required to cuz you're a public defender or did you take this case on purpose?" >> Prosecutor then addressed the court before sentencing. Judge Kevin Cox sentenced Jamir Michael Miller to 35 to 60 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections. >> Your honor, if I um may, I also have receipts uh for the funeral expenses and of the bills [snorts] for the um cemetery. Um Miss Woodside and I discussed those briefly um this morning. Um she and I both received them this morning. Um, and I would propose we could potentially put that particular amount over because it's about it's over $16,000 in total. Um, we'll put that over for a stipulated order regarding those receipts. >> In the aftermath of everything, Patrice's mother, Rosland Livingston, established the Patrice L. Wilson Scholarship, also known as the Patrice Wilson Nursing Scholarship and the Patrice Wilson RN Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded every year on Mother's Day weekend. The only requirement for recipients is that they must be nursing students who are also mothers, reflecting exactly who Patrice was. It has been awarded every year since 2023. The official description of the scholarship reads, "In loving memory of Patrice L. Wilson, a dedicated nurse and compassionate mother. A scholarship has been established to support aspiring nurses who are also mothers. The Patrice L. Wilson Scholarship will be awarded annually on Mother's Day weekend, a poignant reminder of Patrice's life and the profound impact she made on her family and community. Mother's Day is coming and um it would never be the same for me, but um to give another person a opportunity that means the world to me. >> Keeping the legacy of Patrice Wilson alive through the act of caring. >> You have been awarded the 2025 Patrice L. Wilson Nursing Scholarship. And then here is your $1,500 check. Wednesday afternoon, nursing from the D handed a Dorsy College nursing student, a lifeline to a brighter future. That lifeline resulted out of tragedy when Patrice was killed. >> Shortly after she passed away, I decided to continue something that we started together. And the first thing that I wanted to do to honor her is to start a scholarship in her name. I feel so just honored and appreciative that something like this, a difficult loss was transformed to be some a joy in someone else's life. >> Patrice was a mother and one of the requirements is that the scholarship recipient have a child. Sapphire is a mother to her 15-month-old child as she pursues a nursing degree at Dorsy. This financial support helps so much because I can focus more on my studies without thinking about the financial burden of, you know, paying for nursing school, paying for, you know, your bills. >> And officials from Dorsy so inspired by the mission of nursing from the D that they made a major announcement. >> Just listening to these young ladies and their inspiration has inspired me and I think I want to ensure that Dorsy is sponsoring a student every year. So, to at least the tune of $1,500, I'm just excited to uh continue to be a part of it. >> Patrice's mom on hand to witness how her daughter is continuing to transform lives, not through nursing, as she had hoped, but through a shared sense of community. If you would like to donate to the scholarship fund, go to fox2 Detroit.com for details. >> Just want people to keep her name and this living this scholarship alive. Nursing from the D, the platform Patrice built alongside her friend De. >> Okay, I would I would have let that part play, but it didn't again uh like I said at the beginning, the website's not active, but the Instagram account is active and when there's links on the Instagram account, it leads you to a GoFundMe for the scholarship. And then they also have like another program. This seemed like a I don't know I don't know what to call it. It was something else. It wasn't to do with nursing, but the other one, the future of nursing, GoFundMe is still active. It's just the website's not active anymore. So, if you do want to dig deeper into that and help another nur uh upand cominging possible nurse that is also a mom, Instagram accounts in there. I I felt like with that, I feel like it was kind of fact checked on that one, so I felt okay with sharing it. I think that is a beautiful way to carry someone's legacy that came out of tragedy. Um, there's some families I wish would kind of channel more that way if they're going to be in the public eye and trying to make a difference and doing something. Um, Zach, thank you very, very much for gifting a Trendy Tribe membership. Oh, it went to Aqua Queen. Hey, congratulations, Aqua Queen. Okay. I do love it when that person is either going to be coming up soon in the replay game or they're in the chat and I know for sure they got it and they they're like here and they they that's they wanted it. I sometimes don't like that YouTube chooses it randomly. I like it when it works. I hate I don't sometimes I'm like I'm not sure about that. But I also do have people in the bush that don't necessarily want to put themselves out there in the chat. So, I'm not saying I don't like it at all, but I it it hits different uh synapses when I do see a name and I recognize a name, but you know, I appreciate my people in the bushes because it ain't always safe to come out in the chat. We have seen that. Some of us are traumatized. So, believe me, it is okay to stay in the bushes. I don't fault you at all. Um, what was I going to say? Tomorrow. Oh, God. Tomorrow's Sunday. So, we will have body cam tomorrow morning. It's not the serious ones like these. Right now, it looks like it's going to be a DUI compilation, but the DUIs that they haven't unallowed somebody type compilation, just more about how difficult they are at the traffic stops and stuff. That looks like where it's going. Things could change, but it won't be u like the trigger warning type stuff like we do in the evening time. If y'all are going to pop fireworks, if you haven't already, be safe. Be very, very safe. You never know. Um, enjoy your food if y'all are eating and all that stuff. Have a good night. Go watch videos of puppies and kittens. Whatever you need to do to unwind and kind of get back on track again. But I definitely always appreciate y'all when y'all hang out with me. And I will see you in the morning. All right. Talk to y'all later. Bye. [music] >> [singing] [music] >> Before you press play, [music] look close. This one can cut deep. Real people, real pain.
