okay and then what happened uh he drew a fine arm i began to challenge people throughout the room i quoted him my mercy button i said gun um uh he began to prune everybody out um i raised my hands because i was unarmed yes this is the orange county jail at 33rd street okay we have an inmate with a gun okay one moment i need you to go under the emergency policies and pull up yeah if you get more information or anything gets worse in any way call us back immediately but yes we're staying by our rescue i mean i i don't know i'm on the floor okay still there okay we have multiple deaths and we're gonna take care of it [Music] and it was awesome those guys his wife convinced him not to kill me which was nice he said he got shot at what point he got shot when i went for the gun for a while so i didn't know if the deputy was shot and then i heard the deputy asked for help so when he punched the deputy what did he punch man lee was the face in his face i believe so yes okay yeah he was the the deputy i thought it was dead i 100 thought was not living today i thought that was that was it so now you're at the jail and what happened uh i was booking two individuals um for a felony charge that i brought him in for um as the orange county correctional officer was escorting um excuse me the suspect um to the x-ray scanner he made a statement i might as well go ahead and do this um somehow um slipped out of his flex cuff through a single zero firearm pistol so you're standing in the first initial gateway correct i was going to paperwork at the desk and he's approaching like a medical clearance correct okay yes you're doing that paperwork all right oh the orlando police department brings down the guard or whatever's on your guys correct a fellow deputy had transported this job okay and he then goes through the ghosts go through the body scanner machine he had not done the body scanning yet okay but he said as he was going to go right okay and then what happened uh he drew a firearm i began to challenge people throughout the room i quoted him my mercy button i said gun um uh he began to pronounce everybody out um i raised my hands because i wasn't armed through the verticals with prc right how many people were with a gun okay you guys need fire rescue going as well we need 911 fire rescue whatever you can bring we got an inmate with a gun okay we have an officer down okay with shots fired then we don't know honestly we just happen to turn around and find it with a gun that's all we know we don't know if he's down or not we don't know if shots were fired man this is the kind of inferno from forest county corrections we had a man with a gun inside of a booking facility okay where are you okay stay on the line okay we got a man with a bus with a gun in our working facility stay on the phone for me okay is he white black or hispanic he's a black male right blackmail okay stay on the phone for me i'm gonna get the call going you're gonna get away i'm gonna get the call going stay on the line for me what do you see exactly he's in our booking facility okay what do you see where are you i'm sorry tell me exactly what happened to the computer we have an inmate in the brc triage that is holding another officer hostage and we have an inmate that is down and he has a weapon and what is the location yes this is the orange county jail like 33rd street okay we have an inmate with a gun okay one moment and where is he now he's in the triage area of the 33rd jail in brc control [Music] [Applause] [Music] is anyone injured not yet do you know his name no we have no information we're in the control room like is he heavyweight do you hear him right now do you see him right now no ma'am do you know what type of weapon he has he just has a gun that's all i know okay we have multiple units and we'll see i'm gonna just keep you on the phone can you see him on the camera or um right now i'm on the floor do you know what floor he's on he's on the first floor right in the sally port triage wait when you bring him up i'm making everybody aware of his support he took the gun from the officer our officer he put him on the ground and he kicked something away from him but he didn't i don't think shots were fired we wrote back the video you have camera accent yes ma'am we are on the video on the mountain okay so the audience are down okay so camera asked us okay okay let me know when the deputies are there okay okay all right let me we're on our way to now a nurse's hostage yes ma'am i need madden i mean we're on our way thank you guys i need you to go under the emergency policies and pull up hostage if you get more information or anything that's worse than anybody call us back [Music] whitaker are there any hostages yes there's about uh three or four people over there in the same room with him but no one's injured corrupt not yet we have deputies on screen okay just stay with me for a moment hold on [Music] okay where are you at where were you we are in the command center in the main jail okay now he's fighting his arresting officer and my nurse is behind the scanner control open gate [Music] officers what do you mean they're fighting are they like fighting physically or like like does he have a gun there it looks like they're wrestling down on the ground with the officer i don't know i'm on the floor okay he's still there okay we have multiple deadlines on screen they're gonna take care of it okay thank you [Music] get out of the way probably about six shots okay you said six shots right you hello he looks like he's trying to make a phone call right now who is the the inmate the inmate he's just grabbed the phone trying to make a phone call right now is it like a cell phone or like the no our landline our phone [Applause] oh now he looks like now he's getting a cell phone water hoses are trying to unlock their phones i don't know if he's going to head it over or what okay right now uh he drew a firearm i began to challenge people throughout the room i quoted him my mercy button i said gun um uh he began to prune everybody out um i raised my hands because i wasn't armed through the protocols of the prc how many people were in that area than that first room uh five including the suspect okay so there's you the other deputy uh the correctional officer correctional uh the nurse the accepting nurse and then the other suspect i was arrested and so he draws a gun that you get to see what would it look like or anything yes sir silver and color ruger 9 millimeter pistol magazine was loaded as well because he would throw that away so he definitely flew back to i began to challenge people he said you better you you made utterances like you better do it i said get down the ground i want to something like the effects that i want to run this shit if you can use my language so we all applied didn't provide any physical resistance but he ordered me come to approach him um he took the handcuffs i believe from the correctional officer and secured me behind the back of handcuffs he kept me in front of him as a physical hostage he would orient his firearm toward me and toward the deputies that's i started to arrive on the scene saying i'm going to kill him i'm going to kill him i'm going to kill you he'll make sense left to me and then he'd whisper i'm not really going to hurt you but he he'd go back and forth back and forth back and forth um after a period of time we would go behind the desk he tried to sit down and give me someone's lap it was really weird really awkward um i noticed that he put his hand gun on his lap with the um pistol grip facing toward me um i was facing like this my hand right here um his hands are free and he's briefly attracted so i tried to go for the did he ever hit did he handcuff you with that right here i've been handcuffed at this point um so i decided that's a good time to regulate the firearm and just let me sit back sure been a while so i got to clarify yeah yeah of course when they go through the full body scanners they take that handcuffs off i mean no they're they're still yeah because he's a large gentleman so he's securing two sets of flex stuff somehow he was able to slip his right hand no his left hand out of the flex cuffs in order to secure these signals around his person so he was able to get one of the hands out from the right left hand and then obviously the flex cuff's still on the right hand but at that point both his hands are straight to the right whatever okay so he gets uh the handcuffs from where did you see where he got him from you son the handcuffs yeah i believe it came from the correctional officer he was in the body scan the handcuffs that was on his person he didn't take him from me okay and everybody else stayed on the ground correct yeah a period of time later where i was able to get the nurse out so and then the nurse was able to get out and then 10 15 against that later um so there's a point of time like so the handgun was on his lap i tried to go for it at that time um some shots were fired i'm not sure from whom um i know he got hit i couldn't physically check myself but i didn't feel any injuries um he threw me on the ground pistol with me at least six times in the face um kept pointing his gun toward me i kept trying to score away so he wouldn't kill me at least try to keep my body on between me and the gun kept moving it toward like here he repeatedly put the barrel gun i have a neck or my temple i'm saying i'm gonna fucking kill him fucking kill him i'm gonna do it fucking kill him um so at that time my hands were underneath me uh under my body weight he would sit on me and so there's i was at a point where i just couldn't do anything did you ever get his name i have his name i can't remember it i can't remember i have his name i just can't remember i can get it for you oh it's fine but what what did you look like uh blackmail obviously about six foot two 300 plus pounds easy he had a lot of tattoos like extremely heavy set a bright t-shirt i'll say dark colored shorts multi-colored nike sneakers like red white and blue um and i knew he was getting affiliated when i did my traffic stop um so this goes on for a while then absolutely so over a period of time he gets access to my cell phone um i give him the codes he faced on his wife between me and his wife we start talking him down because he was initially just gonna kill himself we moved from killing himself to try to tell him how many years he's gonna get i tell him what he wants to hear i lied i'm like oh this it's probably only a five ten years um he's really worried about doing life in prison because i'm gonna see his kid get like not just five ten years we'll get a bond we'll get you out here and we'll be killing the problem um sorry um and during this time are there people other people around that are still in the surrounding areas right um i should have mentioned right when he started facetiming the nurse had somehow snuck out at some point i don't know how he managed to get out um he had let his friend get out of the lobby um the other uh secured 10 15. um he managed diablo [Applause] i think so i i was on the ground so i couldn't see i was behind the desk um i think so um i knew the officer stayed there the entire time i was in there to my knowledge until right at the end and then got out briefly before squat made injury but anyway um he facetimed me i've managed to let him take his body away off me so i can lift my knees up so i can take some pressure off my hands kind of feel my hands anymore um do the because handcuffs weren't double locked so they were sucked um his wife convinced him not to kill me which was nice um he missed him talking down me uh talking to him i was like hey just start letting people go so helped us bring it out convinced them to drop the magazine and throw the magazine away so it was just the one in the chamber eventually set the pistol next to the refrigerator started messing with the refrigerator i convinced him to let me sit next to him we just started talking i just tried to befriend him as best i could just went back forth given my first name started drinking stuff up fridge um try to dispose of some 1895 into a orange um soda container of some sort and tried pouring it down to the brc sink he broke one of the pipes in the brc sync in the process of doing it just trying to dispose of the evidence because he was so worried about getting charged with that because that was his biggest concern um that point of setting up um things started calming down he kept saying i'm not coming out you're not coming out yet and i guess swat saw a good time to come in make entry he threw a bunch of flash bangs um challenged him and pulled me the fuck out and yeah he said he got shot at what point did he get shot when i went for the gun um at some point shots were fired and he came down with gunshots to his right shoulder that was during the swat takedown yeah that was probably prior to that well prior like i said when i went trying to go for the gun initially before he put his by the way had me on the throne on the ground so that was when he put the gun down on the ground at some point no his uh so he put the he sat down awkwardly on the chair and he had put his pistol on the left side of his lap um with the pistol grip facing outward at that time i thought it might be a good opportunity to try to go for the gun um i did so i wasn't going to get good stuff his hands were behind me i couldn't get a good line of sight i don't know what they saw outside i don't know if it's just a good opportunity so let me find her i don't know the deputy fired i just know rounds went through i know it's a rifle because those that glass nothing will penetrate besides right so that some shots were fired at your shoreline with the gun at that point but that experience is able to get control of the gun again and put you down and put his weight on you then right correct and i just started just de-escalating the situation gained rapport um got like they got his friend out um eventually we get the officer out and i managed to convince him to let me go from being on my back to being on my side to seated leaning against the counter and from there i had a piece of the squad at some point they eventually finally made a move and we're able to do something so uh anything you're looking for okay it's all contaminated i wouldn't touch it sir then you were able to get medically cleared out of there yeah they drug me out of there and then threw me into an ambulance and i just want to confirm obviously this was pretty traumatic to you as well i thought i was going to die today 100 100 i i didn't expect to make it up and you swear from everything you told me is the truth absolutely orlando police department and who are we speaking with today hector jamie us nurse awesome okay how long have you worked here at brc uh nine years in may have you been the triage nurse that whole time no no how long have you been up here at the front door's nurse uh permanently for the past three years okay all right so obviously you know why we're here um if you'll do me a favor start from the very very beginning as much detail as possible just give us an idea of what happened all right approximately 5 40 5 45 deputy comes in by himself with his computer and paperwork uh states that he has two inmates uh they're being transport he takes his computer and paperwork to the leo lobby and comes back out back to the sally port in which time he comes in with two inmates uh one inmate he tells to sit down on the bench um at that time the scanner officer tells the guy the sitting to get up on the blue line where he would talk to me which you said there's two right there's two yes can you describe the guy who sat down for me the guy who sat down was a heavier set um blackmail um wearing a red t-shirt and i can't remember the shorts but it was shorts okay and so you were talking to the other person the other arrestee the other rusty then stood at the line he was thinner blackmail six six foot tall jeans with a white shirt with pink lettering and he had jordans on okay so you're talking to him yes i asked him the typical medical questions i will he answered the questions i went around and took his temperature because of new protocols for the corona came back to my station as officer magwood was scanning him with is that the co he's the ceo correction officer magwood is scanning him with a metal detector because the scanner's down um i got the paperwork and went talk to the suspect which is last name stanley i believe um he answered my questions while he was sitting on the bench i took his temperature walked back to my station and i engaged in conversation with deputy about him being married and congratulating him he just got married and i actually made a joke uh about him going on a cruise if he did go on a cruise at this time is when the the suspect said everybody get the fuck down and i looked and he had a weapon and this is the guy in the red shirt the guy in the red shirt was sitting on the bench okay correct did you see the weapon a silver weapon handgun handgun did you know a semi-automatic revolver are you familiar with these gun types look like 45 okay possible nightmare just silver okay did you see which handy was holding it in uh i believe was both initially okay yeah okay keep going um at this time i went down like he asked me to and got underneath the triage nurse counter um he told everybody to get down like i mentioned uh and all i could do is here because i couldn't see at this time um he told the deputy not to do anything and to slide the cubs to him and as i heard the cuff sliding to him um he handcuffed him somehow i didn't see it and took control of the deputy uh the other 10 15 just went to the ground like we did as well and uh officer magwood the correction officer was on the ground as well um i guess as more leos kept on coming and he noticed them in the sally port he walked around towards my station to get for cover i think he was looking for cover because you have the plexiglass okay and he noticed it was i was under the counter so when he initially pulled the gun out when you heard him say telling everyone to get down where was he standing at that point he was standing in front of the bench and fire bench right in front of the elio lobby slider door okay so he would have been in direct line of sight of underneath where your little station is but yes but i was standing up when he did that initially yes right so you get down did he move out of here he moved out of my view yes okay torch in front of where the blue line were they normally stand for me to ask them the questions where was the other guy that had been arrested on the floor at the blue line at blue line at that time yeah okay okay because i couldn't see anybody so when he moved around back to where your station underneath is what happened he had the deputy he was holding deputy with the gun in to the deputy's head and he told me to get out of there so i stood up my hands up and walked up by him and hid behind the scanner okay yeah okay so what what else was he saying was he went before he came this way i guess he was telling people not to come in the door and he did mention a lot a lot akba okay he said i'm not i'm not i'm not going to j i'm not going to prison allah this is for real like he was trying to scare well everybody was scared but he was trying to scare people even more i think but i think he was getting more care based on the number of people that was showing up were all the doors closed yes kept on asking to open the doors okay so all the doors are trying to get out with the deputy with the door and they would not open the door okay the deputy was begging them to open the door and they would not open the door yeah so when you hid behind the scanner what else happened after that when i hit behind the scanner um he he and the deputy made himself took over this triage nurse station at that time he asked the deputy if he had anything on him any other weapons and deputy goes i don't have anything else at this time i could see everything because i'm behind the scanner and they have a lead shield with a with a window on it so i can see all that um and uh he starts searching the deputy for another weapon and he's searching him he puts the gun down on his lap and the deputy he's sitting down he sat down in my chair he sat down my chair as he's checking the deputy so where was the deputy at standing right in front of him okay so he was sitting in your chair deputy is standing in front of him and he's searching between the chair and the desk the deputy's there and he's searching the deputy okay uh at this time i see the deputy reach over the right side with his handcuffs and try to get the weapon how where was the deputy handcuffed behind his back yes okay so he's standing that guy's sitting in in the chair correct gun is in his lap momentarily okay yeah he has gun on his hand but he's reaching he can't do it all so he puts it in this lap okay and uh for that time i see the deputy reach over for the gun and they kind of wrestle a bit for it and he stands up and punches him okay and at this time i heard a gunshot i don't know whether he shot the cop the deputy or somebody shot him okay i really cuz i duck when i heard the gun shot just one gunshot i heard multiple gunshots okay but the first one was the one made me go down right um and then there was bit silence for a while so i didn't know if the deputy was shot and then i heard the deputy ask for help so i thought he was shot okay yeah and then there was a couple minutes where he was asking for help and then i hear that the suspect state oh i think they hit me with a bean bag or something did could you see them at that time no because they're behind the counter so they're underneath the counter yeah drop down to below eye level behind the counter for you okay correct so at this point you're just hearing i'm just hearing okay yes all right so deputies saying help or asking for help asking for help and then uh the suspect states mr stanley states i think that him with a bean bag did they shoot me he wasn't sure whether he was shot um uh for a while there he's i think he's kind of shocked that he got shot because he's kind of debating with himself whether he got shot or not and uh all of a sudden he goes martinez martinez who is that he's trying to get my attention but he doesn't know my name and then he goes hernandez and he finally says nurse so come over here so i go over there and he has a gun pointed at me and asked me to unlock his the deputy's phone because he wants to make a phone call so he hands me the phone i asked him what's the code i thought it was his he goes i don't know he's the deputy so he puts the gun in the deputy's head and says what's the coach he tells me the code put the code on and give it to him and he goes fix my shit this way he said this this wound i said i can help you i can help you my hands are up and then uh he's fumbling at this time he started fumbling with the with the gun and finally he pointed at me as i'm going towards him so i ran back to the scanner um when i ran to the scanner i didn't hear what was going on there i was just trying to run away i didn't want to get shot and um i knew he was shot so i look at the leos in the helio lobby and i point to my right shoulder and say he shot okay and they're like he shot and i said i'm gonna run out i'm pointing i'm telling i'm gonna run out run out where run out the door was the door open no it was closed but i'm telling the mama right now because i'm gonna get somebody to open the door they don't shoot me so i don't know whether to see it or not at this time i i talk i motion that to leo's outside and i look into the control room which controls doors initially when i went over to see the suspect i didn't see anybody in the control room because they weren't opening doors i thought it was close they were they left but at this time when i looked back after i motioned to the leos i seen the guy on the station and i told him open the door and he said okay so when the door starts rolling which door the triage to the led to the sally porter okay our store so the one to the parking lot leading to the parking lot yes that starts rolling because it takes a while he's like don't you fucking move but there's a deputy in the in the control room and he's seen the deputy in the control room so he had the weapon over the counter but he couldn't see me just the weapon i couldn't see him and because he has an angle to control room from the side where he was laying he's in the deputy so he turned the weapon towards the deputy the one that was in the control room and he shot at him because there's some and that's when i ran out okay because the weapon wasn't pointed at me okay and i ran around towards uh transport which is further around and went in and that you didn't see anything else after that i went into the control room with a opd officer he took me because he wanted into what i've seen in there and in the control room you have the cameras you can see it through the camera and uh they had uh west officer correction officer uh what's his name he's from transport he was talking to the inmate through the intercom okay the whole time okay and he was in the control room he was in the control room yes there was uh two deputies in the control room the deputy that was initially there uh they helped me get out of there pretty much another deputy walked in with me and an obd officer just waiting to get uh interview okay and the control room staff which is two staff members okay um you you indicated there are multiple times that this guy you call mr stanley pointed this gun at you yes tell me what was going through your brain i don't want to die i got a family so you you thought you were going to die yeah i was yeah okay um do you want to press charges against him for this sure we can i don't know oh absolutely you can that's your decision obviously as a victim at this point we can yeah okay um did mr stanley at any point say to you or anyone else in the room i'm gonna kill you or you're gonna die or a matter of fact when i left something out um when i went towards him he did say you all right you're gonna go home tonight he said to you yes okay but then he pointed a gun at me so it didn't make sense you know because he he said that right before he told me to help him okay you know so i don't know whether he was trying to get some leverage for me to help him i wouldn't help him anyways but then i ran yeah okay so he he just said i'll be okay i was gonna make it through the night that's what he said okay and you didn't hear him tell anyone else they were gonna die or anything okay when he shot towards the deputy that was inside the control room how many times did he shoot one or two no more than that just one or two yeah do you know did you see you know that echoes in there yes so so yes like a mother did you see him shoot that gun at any other time during this incident no i believe a gunshot went off when the deputy punched him wait he punched the deputy sorry because he was reaching for the gun and when he shot at the control room okay so those are the only times that you are aware of okay um did when you you ran out did you see who was still in the room yes it was still the 10 15 that came in with him uh-huh the other rusty with the white white shirt and jeans okay uh uh correction of some magwood okay uh the deputy that he was laying on top of okay uh and the suspect okay did anyone else run out with you no i was hoping they would but you were the only one that ran out yes okay um i think that's it for michael do you guys have questions for your stuff you got anything here's one question okay when he punched the deputy what did he punch man well he was the face in his face i believe so yes okay yeah he was the the deputy was uh when they struggled and the deputy turned towards the area where you guys fill out the paperwork the counter the left side of the counter facing the scanner um and the 10 15 stood up and punched them one time uh multiple times multiple times yes sorry go ahead when you say multiple more than two three like two two i seen two for sure two now when they fail i have no idea what happened on the ground yeah was he saying anything while he's punching him don't try to get the gun don't try to take my gun and the deputy was apologizing i'm sorry i'm sorry do you know where the gun was at while he was punching him yeah i have no idea okay that's all i have i i just had a couple questions uh first of all i apologize because i was trying to deal with uh someone by text while you're talking so it's okay any questions you guys apologize so uh just to clarify when you said you heard uh the first initial gunshots uh where were the who was she firing i have no idea i don't know whether it was the suspect's gun or was it uh the elios in the sally port shooting in because they seen him assault the the deputy that was my initial thought that was coming from the outside okay and where where were they uh looking uh like from here i'm looking over there uh through the large door that the vehicles drive through yes and then the entrance door to the area you guys were in to the right of that there looked to be some uh damage to the windows from gunshots exactly is that where you got i believe as the initial gun shot went through okay yeah okay did you did you and i understand from what you're saying you were probably over near the scanner but i'm just over by that box you see the box there inside the scanner yes inside a room i was right behind this that box um did you see the officer's fire or just hear the gun i heard a gun it's okay i didn't see no flash or and uh about how many officers when you were trying to tell them quite a few quite a few quite a few yeah not a problem everywhere yeah i didn't know if they had time though they were okay opd they were sheriff our srt team were out there i mean there was a bunch of people and there was some firing of weapons on the outside of this uh and from inside the sally port into the um first triage area correct and then the only other gunshots was from um suspect suspect his gunfire his gun fire correct towards that uh control room control room that's the only two volleys of gunfire that the from the suspect to the control room and i believe he shot when they shot him okay yeah you but uh you don't know where he was pointing i have no clue okay i appreciate it i'm clear i think i got it okay [Applause] now you had the two the two suspects that you had the 1015s correct um did the first one go through body scanner was he gonna go second so they cleared him medically and then benched him and that white bench in the back and then was bringing the second subject over the medical evaluation toward the body again i wasn't sure if they're gonna do both at the same time um but i knew he was coming over into the medical area to be evaluated medically and i guess they might have thrown into my scam right then and then you heard them say something again what did you hear them say something like i might as well do something about this or take control of this something along those lines um and that's when i noticed the firearm was produced [Applause] and did you see where he pulled it from we just saw it in his hand at that point and then what happened from from that point when he pulled the point you saw the firearm was in his hand all the correction was the correctional officer went prone um the 1015 who was still in the bench didn't move he didn't do anything no reaction i went to my knees put my hands up and he started orienting the firearm around um base it felt like he was like scoping out the area see if there's any other threats he had to worry about um once he figured out so was he surveilling surveying with like the gun pointed it around correct then what happened um i don't i think i think i might have said something like hey man relax everything's okay no big deal and then he ordered me to go to the correctional officer uh he asked me to face away from him he had correctional officers handcuffs between put my hands behind my back i didn't try to fight back at that point um and secured me in handcrafts so he ordered you to go over to the where this is where the ceo was right yes sir and not to look at him and then did he get you on the ground or did he just handcuff you standing up do you remember i don't i just remember put my hands around my back and securing me behind handcuffs i really wonder if i was kneeling or not i might have been kneeling i'm not sure should um he noticed um the deputy who would just like his own partner was still in the the just leaving the fucking line i noticed something happening he saw him rant running over um with his gun drawn a point oriented his gun toward my head and he's like if you do something i'm gonna kill him i'm gonna kill him i swear to god i'm gonna kill him this slider door was it open or it was closed the entire room was secured and he's like give me your keys i want your keys to your patrol car i gave him the keys but i was freaking out because my firearm was my driver's seat because i just got a brc i had a rifle if you're going to the car i'm going to go with them now i'm going to fly them i'll do whatever you can make sure you didn't get there but i think it's there so sorry about it all right so here the other film partner was leaving but then he runs up when he sees that there's something going on right and that's when the suspect puts the gun actually yes now's the first of many occasions that happens and he was telling you that he was gonna do what now he's gonna i'm gonna kill him i'm gonna shoot him i'm gonna kill him if you don't back up and do what i say you're here what was going on yeah i don't know he was shouting it but i don't know [Applause] all right what happens then so it becomes the suit of standoff where i basically being used as a body shield he's oriented his gun and wherever you're standing roughly so um if she's standing um i'm basically to like right here so you just we're offset to its left we're in the medical still toward the round the body scanner let's go around the bystanders initially we never really walk in front of the other doors at any point he is focused on that area specifically [Applause] all right so you're still standing at the body scanner and it's just kind of he's still standing with the gun to your head correct he would move the gun i'm not sure if he does this but he he'll he'll move it to and from my head several occasions pointing it in different directions anything happen from there what's the next thing that he does um eventually i don't know if he gets tired or like he like physically redirects me behind the medical desk that's right there at the blue medical desk he sits down a computer chair and this is i got weird but he tried to like sipping on his lap it was really awkward um that didn't work so i was like hey man i'll just stand up it's no big deal stand in front of you it's okay no big deal he's like okay you just throw that he's sitting on the chair then right right he's standing in front of him right but this doesn't last long because during this time he becomes focused on doing something else so he puts the the firearm in his lap with the magazine and the pistol grip facing toward me um while he's distracted doing something else i think it's probably my best time to try to do something about it because i'm on my feet um but my hands are behind me so i try so i try to go for it i wasn't successful we began to struggle and that's when shots were fired i'm not sure by who buys no shots were fired all right so i remember so you have a struggle you hear shots fired and then he said he did he push you to the ground and he slams me around and i think he hits me in the head with a pistol i go to the ground and then he like strikes me multiple times with a closed fist and then the pistol so like a like a dueling fist motion with a pistol in one of the hands and his right hand well you're on the ground right correct are you on your stomach at that time on my back with my hands behind me so i couldn't obviously defend myself then it gets even worse um then once that settles he begins to push the gun toward my chest because he realizes he's been shot and i keep trying to struggle keeps trying to put it under my throat under just under my throat and i just keep swarming to keep my vest between me and he keeps redirecting it under my throat saying i'm gonna fucking kill him i'm gonna kill him and like i knew like there's i just want to say i i thought it was dead i 100 thought i was not living today um but i thought that was that was it um i kept redirecting it under my chin i just kept swarming stuff i mean at one point i stopped fighting because i knew i couldn't get away i'm in a bad position i couldn't get up i couldn't really kick away um he finally like sits on top of me like puts his body weight on top of me right around like my lower abdomen um right on top of my pistol belt that i still had on um facing toward the x-ray scanner behind the desk using the desk is like concealment and being a shout toward people that's when i guess the correctional officer began speaking through the room speaker whatever to try and negotiate with them okay and he was sitting on your chest for a while oh extended period of time i there was a point where i couldn't feel my hands and when i was begging on the lead to get off so that way i can just flex my hips just to get some blood circulation my hands i couldn't feel my hands anymore for a while now at some point what when did he he said he made some kind of mention about getting his friend out correct so um the the professional officer was like hey man put the gun down whatever he's like i'll send you a hostage if you can let me talk to my wife so the hostage he sends out is his friend who is also 10 15 and he sends him out the door at what point did that happen i had been on my back for 10 15 at least 15 minutes at minimum before while you're on the ground correct and while he's sitting on top of you right and he had been already been shot at that point correct and so he said something about if you let it let his buddy can you let him use your phone or correct um i let him access my phone to facetime his wife who thankfully um talked him down was like hey put down the gun i want you to live and i lied to him straight up i was like hey man you probably just at the most 10 years you can see him again i mean it's not a big deal we can get you out of this like for real i'm like yeah absolutely for real this is not what she had said but the gun told him absolutely and he kept like while i'm facing he moved toward killing from killing me to more killing himself so you put the gun to his head in multiple occasions like i just want to end this right now like if you if you tell me it's worth it i'll live but if not i'm going to kill myself right now she's like no no liv um and she she was she was great she really helped out that situation face i'm just trying to de-escalate them at any point did you do you remember or see the suspect shooting at all do you remember i don't remember i just know a bunch of shots weren't fired and i remember he charged his weapon and a crown fell to the ground i might i couldn't tell if it was an extended round or not but i definitely know he did that when we went below the desk right after the initial shots were fired by whoever fired you remember him firing up in the air or anything that you can remember i remember pointing with it to the ceiling but i don't know if you fired mike again he made sure when was that at what point was that uh that was just after um he had gotten done to me my visuals really blurred i don't know if it was i've blacked out a little bit or if it was blood after it was punching you on the ground okay again i don't know if it was blood or if i just blacked out um do you remember sort of pointing the gun in the air yeah i do remember pointing the gun in the air and then yeah definitely i may several times and tell me he's going to kill me i do have to say that he'd like whisper to me it was really where he's like hey man i'm not going to hurt you i'm not sure if that was just to gain compliance or his intent when he said that was but he would he did on like three different occasions i used that against some report it seemed to work out i'm sorry i keep elaborating i know the details are good i just want to make sure i get everything whatever you need seriously he said i heard something about water being poured on you what what what situation with that so after he got done hitting me and he had calmed down he had opened a giant bottle of dasani water and began to drink it and then looked over me and just started pouring in my face i'm not sure if it was a gesture kind of washing the blood off my face or if he was just running a jerk but i was like hey man i'm good i'm kind of good and i'll look after that this is without he was sitting on me correct and if you got it from the fridge there was a fridge under the desk yes there's pretty soft this continues to continue to hit you or point the gun at you on the ground absolutely but he doesn't strike me anymore at this point pointing the gun that you still several times at at least over 20 times at least and this continues until what point then basically um i began to talk to him calm him down after he's done facetime his wife i convinced him to at least eject the mag out of the firearm so at least only leave one round gives me a fighting chance because i know it's right between me and him which gives me some good options um further from that i convinced him to let me lay on my side get some circulation back to my hands still building that rapport um i asked him to let me just sit up with him so we both sit up on the table and i start one-on-one just talking to him tell him i just got recently married talking about his marriage how it's worth it just put it down he's so worried that he's gonna get shot by us um that we're gonna come you know we'll walk out together walk in front of you they'll secure you if you believe did he actually eject the magazine at that point yeah uh the magazine had been injected by the time we're sitting here and you've thrown it over the desk that's the mag or that's the clip that's what he said that's the clip when i saw him throw it or check it you checked it twice and then we'll round to the magazine all right threw it so that's the clip you guys are talking and then what just happened so eventually i get them to agree to leave um he tries to destroy narcotics i believe it was molly um and like an orange soda bottle and pour baking soda into trying to shake it's like him trying to wait for this dissolve i'm like i don't know if they're gonna wait that long he's like well you put something in an orange bottle yeah it looked like based on my train experience it looks like fellaini narcotics um he i was like hey man why you just push the gun away from me just saying just make sure you mean things are cool so that way they try to get calm and i was arguing with the negotiation negotiator mornington questions shouting random stuff i'm like hey man i've got this we're good um he pushed the gun next to the fridge so it wasn't even it wasn't in direct vicinity of them um and i was like hey maybe we're just gonna walk out of here we're good he's like all right i was going to flush this down the sink and then we'll be good and that's where he's trying to pour the soda with the concoction he made down the sink and he actually worked with the pipes out to make sure it actually went all the way through and it didn't get stuck there um he sits back down i'm like hey man you ready for me to stand up he's like hold on hold on i guess and about five minutes after that swat reached and it was awesome those guys all right and just confirming then everything you just told me
