apparel she grabbed this shirt started
walking around with her hand really
close to this bag as was over her
shoulder um she went through a men's
apparel a couple times went over into
infant put the shirt in the bag there
walked back over into women's apparel
picked up the tights went over through
the center of our homelines department
and put the tights in the bag went
through the back of the store a little
bit and then walked up here to the front
and out the door on the side of requ
gotta and that's the bag correct okay um
and then they were recovered those are
recovered inside the bag yes sir
okay um dress pass or anything of that
nature

properties this is a trespass for all
Walmarts in the United States this is
the parking LW and the building this is
a lifetime trespass okay if you come
back with this in effect it's
misdemeanor passing if you still with

they'll tell you that you're being
charge they probably have an opportunity
to speak with the prosecutor um if you'd
like um this is at this time just a
misdemeanor um and so there's options
like misdemeanor compromise or deferrals
or type of things like that and you
could certainly discuss that with them
you certainly could say it didn't happen
and they didn't do anything wrong and
and use your your rights as far as that
way so we don't want to take any of
those rights away from you um but
generally they will show you some
options nothing it's not like there's a
trial or anything that day you just show
up and they they tell you information
about what the charges and what's going
on is that kind how much do you think
I'll be charged like MoneyWise sometimes
they just charge you the price of these
and like an administrative fee I think
for a okay for um is this
like when I apply for jobs are people
going to see this um I'm not sure
sometimes they offer like a a
misdemeanor compromise which means it
goes away if you don't get in trouble
for a while or doesn't happen again I
can't tell you for sure um but
certainly the worst case is that yeah I
mean something that that's on your
record as far as being in trouble for
theft okay there nothing we can
guarantee but most misers in Whitman
county as long as you don't get another
charge within a year after your
sentenced will be dismissed and off your
record what do they call that thism yeah
I can't remember but they do that
primarily in the majority of cases
nonviolent cases and so kind of then
it's up to you decide whether or not you
want to be arrested again for something
thank you I appreciate it so can't make
any promises but that's typically what
we see
what are you studying apparel
merchandising are you going to be
hanging out sir what's that are you
going to be hanging out yeah

where you originally from K car he
car do you think I should tell my mom
it's up to you you're
18 you can choose what to tell them what
not to tell them I know but like I what
if they like search me up on the
internet and they
like so there is a possibility so
everything we do is public right but
people have to know what to look for to
find the records so like obviously
there's a police report that this
happened um there will be criminal type
documents to the court that people don't
necessarily know to go looking for them
unless they like I want to look up your
information or something like that um we
have a police log that at times does
have people's names that they were
arrested for such and such things and
that's posted on our website every day
per law we have to put it on there um
but usually no one really looks it so
it's a possibility I doubt that your
parents are searching our police page
every day just to see if you've been
good or
not no but it is a possibility that
we'll find out something else that
happens a lot of times in these cases is
you'll be contacted by the
university um because you're violating
the University's code of conduct the do
it depends so they won't kick you out
I've never seen that happen for their
first offense but there might be some
type of impos they might have to take
some classes or or go through student
conduct usually okay can't remember what
they're call them student conduct
anymore they keep changing the name of
it have you had any alcohol offenses or
drug offenses that's good then usually
it's not going to be a huge deal through
the
university this was like an established
pattern where you kept getting contacted
by the police then then they can
increase their sanctions up to
suspension or kicking out of
school so I I ban from every Walmart for
live yes y

this room we like to tell people now
with all the technology and everything
else their software is pretty good at
detecting people that are not allowed to
be there so so it's like if I came to a
Walmart and I just bought something like
I could get arrested and the worst thing
is at least under washingt laws I can't
speak to other States since you're not
allowed to be on this property
inside or out and you came
in that would be a felony charge okay
yep because that is considered burglary
because the state assumes that since you
know you're not allowed to be here and
you've been formally trespass then you
don't have a legal right to be there
you're going to commit a crime inside
which makes it a felony felonies suck
because they have prison time and really
big fines and bad new
so we we arrest plenty of people who
think oh it's been a year they won't
remember they won't notice and then and
they get to find out the hard
way there's a couple people this year
that I was ping for from seven and eight
years ago
wow so that form does go in that system
I told you about so if this were to
happen over on the other side the state
or even if you went to Florida they
could P your name thank
you just something for you to be aware
of so the first time here with if you're
contacted for alcohol or drugs being
under the age of 21 you can qualify for
a deferment program which means you have
to pay some fines do some classes but
then after a year it goes off your
record but because you have a criminal
charge now
of theft you don't qualify for that
deferment program and so okay the only
reason I say that is be careful if you
decide to drink underage because you run
the risk of being arrested and there'll
be no way out of keeping it off your
record yeah so just something that a lot
of people don't know about that could
affect you
okay man so here's your ID back um so
technically you are under arrest for um
right now like I said I'm going to
release you here in just a second but I
advise you do have the right to Atty you
can't afford one it be a point for you
um and you are being audio and video
recorded on the top here is the
information for the court it has the
case number here um sorry right there
your information and the charge is theft
Third Degree which is the lowest level
of theft um they're going to mail you a
court date to your address at Stevens
and e um that said I should have this
report done by the or tonight or early
next week um and so you can contact the
court then and talk to them about
possible court dates that don't conflict
with the Thanksgiving break um so that
phone number there would be useful they
may not have it on Monday but they
should have it early next week so if you
want to contact them um that would be a
number to do so um other than that you
are free to go thank you make sure that
you're not back on um property here so
we don't have to deal with the tres
when when were you here last when was
the time you were here before
um maybe Tuesday okay in the evening or
morning evening
