what can you tell me as to what happened
today um back on tuesday we got a bolo
oscars uh lieutenant society
individuals supposed to be coming into
deming with a load of drugs
all right
same thing we always do to keep an eye
out for balls i mean uh pd
or um lawrenceburg us dimming
everybody's looking up nothing panned
out tuesday that depend on wednesday
this morning polo is still active they
said the subject's supposed to be in a
white chevy pickup truck with a headache
all right
we'll keep an eye out for it officer
jarrett was working um
at the 103.
um
he called me earlier that uh in the
morning i don't remember the exact time
he made a traffic stop out there
um
knocked himself out his unit
we didn't have any extra units or
anybody in town
so he got a hold of one of our off-duty
officers took a set of keys out there to
him to get back in that unit he borrowed
because his unit's in the shop
a little bit later um
i'm coming back in from lawrenceburg
and uh
here i'm going to traffic stop all right
so i'm coming back in because we don't
have anybody else out in here in town
so coming back in and
here
dispatch do a status check he doesn't
answer heard the second status check all
right i start stepping it up and uh i'm
in an unmarked pickup truck that's can't
go fast
and uh
third one nothing like step it up
um dude knowing that we don't have any
officers in the area
uh next thing i hear is officer down um
trying to get information nobody knows
what's going on
um
i don't know if it's hsi we don't know
if it's jared we don't know anything so
i'm trying to get on scene um
get on scene
and uh
see him working on somebody uh
discovered it was officer jarrett
uh
started making phone calls um there was
nothing i could do there was probably
seven eight nine paramedic people all
over them doing what they need to do
helicopter comes in lance
um
you know and i'm hearing back traffic
about a pursuit and everything going
towards cruisers
and uh
about that
12 44 uh one of the helicopter crew
comes up and says uh we stop
it's over
and uh
um
then
some of the other district units started
arriving on scene and um
just
trying to do
what we could do
and then
captain showed up and told me to leave
scene and i was brought back over here
uh sergeant here uh captain herrera
okay
so
based on your knowledge you said there
was a bubble that came out
on tuesday yes what was it what type of
information was on the bubble um
individual coming in from
tucson with a load of fentanyl um
supposed to have had a gun in the
vehicle
um
i said all right so
no big deal we deal with that daily
basis um
put it up to the guys just be on the
boat looking out for it same thing you
know
for the vehicle um
and uh
so
never nothing
panned out the first two days today same
thing just follow for a vehicle you know
right following the head um officers
stationed out on i-10 looking for that
said vehicle you know white uh chevy
pickup truck with a headache
you know no no deal you know that's like
you know i told jerry just remember this
guy's supposed to be carrying a gun when
i talked to him earlier if you happen to
spot this vehicle all right no problem
sarge same thing i would have done the
same thing you know
you know find whatever you need you know
make sure it's a good stop that you stop
just not just stop it for any reason say
yes there's no problem

and that was it you know and then i
guess he had spotted it and next thing i
know i'm running out to the scene and
i guess it was the said vehicle i don't
know from what i understand because
apparently
other things happened up in cruisers
uh was there a criminal history done on
this guy that you know no that i just we
were just going off the bubble that came
out
was that one of those fusion
i don't have my computer it came uh
tenants also sent it out on an email or
yeah
okay
do you know how lieutenants also got
that information or anything oh just
like any other of the bubbles we get
pops up on our emails and just keeping
out looking for it okay
have you ever dealt with the the suspect
uh i don't even know who the dude is no
okay
i knew i just got in district on the
ninth last month so i don't i mean and
that means i don't know everybody in
this town
okay
was there a briefing today about this
guy or anything no no
so
there was no briefing uh it was just a
bull that came from hsi and you
distribute it through the email to your
guys or again
it was distributed to everybody by
lieutenant salsa
okay uh
so you don't know it was just bolo you
don't know if jarrett was uh
told to stop that vehicle no i mean i
sat there and i told him hey just keep
an eye out for the vehicle you know if
you see it you know develop your pc it's
like the same thing we've always done on
any other bubbles that come out you got
to develop pc you just can't stop a
vehicle to stop a vehicle
you know it's the same thing we tell it
it's like the same thing when i i'm
coming in from cruises every day you get
the bowl hey keep an eye out for this
vehicle but you just can't stop it to
stop it you gotta have pc for it you
know so i mean i've had
probably i had one
but last week i think it was they said
bolo for
an suv with a
tire rack on the back with a bike on it
you know i never saw it but i mean it's
you never know what you're out there
it's the bowl has come out yeah so
so
was it just you two working this morning
um andy called in sick this morning so i
was i was up in um
lordsburg for a class with officer allen
by anus
and then jared was here in town so he
was by himself when you guys were
over there
okay so
when you heard him go because you
mentioned you heard of gold traffic stop
right i heard that there was a traffic
stop okay
where were you at that point i was
coming in i was probably halfway between
deming and lawrenceburg
do you recall mile marker by any chance
no no
okay um
and that's the first time you heard him
go traffic stop trying to hit with the
traffic sign i didn't know the vehicle i
couldn't hear i just heard dispatch said
you'll be out of traffic at the 101.
okay i couldn't hear his side of the
conversation so i don't know what he was
stopping
okay
so
other than the bolo coming out was there
any other information that you guys knew
about
uh just this specific stuff that you
could tell me that the driver was coming
in from um
coming in he lives here in deming
hsi
um
some of the agents were talking back and
forth um
saying that the guy was supposed to have
it they didn't know if he had anything
or whatnot just bolo for the vehicle
just talk to the guy and you know if we
happen to stop the vehicle stop the
vehicle it's the same thing that we get
here all the time
you know keep an eye out for
it's a vehicle you know it's a vehicle
coming in from the border you know if
you see it develop to stop you know
you know
whoever's driving it and go from there
it's
the common stuff that we do every day
it's nothing

along the border we hear all that stuff
all the time yeah sometimes we get you
sometimes we don't you know and it's
like you get a vehicle stop and okay id
all right that's nobody that nobody's
looking for it's

i i don't understand i just i don't get
it it's like
you hear these you get them and it's
like some pan out some don't remote 90
of my creative never
nothing's ever happened okay until today
and then it's like i don't even know
what to do
if it was him or wasn't it i don't know

was the vehicle it was the actual one i

there by the time we got there so

was our dispatch
i mean i'm driving a
loaner truck because jared
poor guy he got into a fleet that's his
old unit that's sitting out there
and so i had to give
gave my unit to officer on hell because
it's a marked unit we had this other so
i mean
so all i heard and i didn't know which
dispatch it said it i don't know if it
was our dispatch because i had it on
scan or it was in the county or they
just said officer down
i'm getting on the rail who's who who
who you know and i said get a hold of
1200 1201 1202 let's get
everybody rolling i knew that
it today sucked because we had meeting
in silver so we had all those guys up
there had a class going on in
lawrenceburg so we were we're short i
mean everybody's short but i mean
you know that's like let's go let's go
let's get everybody rolling man i mean
it just sucks when you're in the source
vehicle your first you know unseen and
dirty
thing you can do

that they had somebody on lookout

also looking for that vehicle at the 132

he was three pulling in this side
because he likes
from dimming to the state or county line

guys that like the construction zone up
on this side he
for whatever reason likes it out here

i mean he was one of my producers i mean
i've seen a couple of his videos officer
safety was always good

or he didn't get a shot off her

so i don't know i just
