A mother in Georgia intentionally placed her two toddlers in an oven and baked them until they were fully cooked. Lamora Williams, 24, called 911 on October 12th and told police she had left 1-year-old Ja'Carter Penn and 2-year-old KeYante Penn with a nanny for the day. When she returned home, she claimed the children were dead and the nanny was missing. At the same time, the children's father, J'Aimeel Penn, also contacted police. He said Lamora had made a video call to him showing the scene. The lifeless bodies of their children lying on the floor. When emergency personnel arrived, they found both toddlers unresponsive with severe burn injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene. During the investigation, police determined that Lamora had been lying. She initially blamed her sister, then claimed her brother had instructed her to do it. Evidence showed she had placed the children in the oven for at least 45 minutes. Lamora's mother later told investigators that her daughter had struggled with mental illness for years and had broken down after her separation from Penn. In court, Lamora continued to claim innocence and refused to plead guilty. She was ultimately convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
