the 23rd of December the last one was on the 1 okay she was a cashier uh ring Up Ring up customers customers would hand her the cash you take the cash put it on the side of the register finish the transaction she takes a cash yeah yep I'm shocked that she's still here because I be told her like so at least four different occurrences yeah yeah four separate shifts total is $1,985 um she wrote a statement picture and stuff like that right um uh yeah very Cooperative good no issues um and um I've got video clips so okay gotcha somewhere around there gotcha all right well let's go let's go have a chat with her come on in so um if I read the notes right it was a total of almost two grand yes yeah yeah she did it she been into doing it medal stuff her okay have a seat ladies first hi Ma I'm officer also do you have your ID or driver's license with you today if I may so what do you do for Burlington I'm a gotcha all right so currently we're being detained for an investigation so before I can ask you questions relating to that I do have to read your Miranda Rights this is my caveat and I say this to everybody me reading your Miranda Rights does not mean that you're currently under arrest at this time it's just because you're not free to leave I have to read this okay if there's any part of it you don't understand let me know okay because this isn't something that people have done very often if at all okay you have the right remain silent do you understand your rights have I explained them to you would you like to speak with me about what's going on okay so my understanding is that you have taken some money while you're working as a cashier in the front can you tell me about that like what's what's the purpose behind all this I have money okay short on bills or my mom your mom she's sick like she's got like answer like really badly sick kind of stuff how long has she been sick for a while she needs tsf surgery medications right does she not have insurance or anything no so before we go into the other stuff there are programs out there to help okay a lot of your hospitals and medical facilities are going to have case workers that can potentially point you in the right direction for programs or even alternatives to insurance right um a lot of pharmaceutical companies if you fall short on something some of them are very well known to assist with payment plans or even potentially doing things for free okay the biggest thing for you and Mom is you have to ask the right questions okay with what you've got going on I I shouldn't be here having this conversation with you I think we can all empathize with you that that's that's a very serious thing to have to go through on your own okay but there's help out there you just have to ask for it okay how many times did this happen um a few what's a few because a few to me might be three or four it might be seven eight to you three or four okay can you kind of tell me about how you proceeded with this like what was like how did this happen like how did you obtain this money oh um actually put it in the number but I wouldn't put the money okay were you still giving like the customers or change and whatnot but you just put the money to the side and kept it for yourself and this happened approximately four times on the same day or different days different days okay were any of those like more than one on one day or just all spread across four different shifts okay I got you how much is Mom's medical expenses a lot surgery alone I gotta right does anybody else live at home with Mom or is it just you and Mom okay so it would be very disheartening and Ill advised for me just to not show some sense of sympathy okay depending on what burle tting decides to do at this point in time is there anybody that would you would need to contact some mom have someone to help her out friend a family member okay just me okay you think Mom would be okay for a day by herself if that were to be the case because obviously we don't want to leave mom by herself if she's so badly ill she a medication she can bar walk is she bedridden basically okay she just have to get up okay gotcha all right and is burlingon wanting to prosecute I gu okay all right that's the case number for the report obviously you know what agency I work for my first initial last name ID number and that is my email address oh my fat behind in this chair so here's an instance has she seen this uh no we haven't shown it to her okay is it against y's policy for her to see it um no she can okay yeah yeah if you want her to yeah that's okay this this is you and the black sweater with your hair up no okay can I rewind this at all or um yeah I got it yeah and then the clips are all they right same you know same as that just different gotcha so this what you were talking about where you take the customer's cash you stick it next to the register this is December 23rd yeah that was the first at 8:05 did you put the money in your pocket just then is that what I was saying yeah okay process c will go on the side here okay another one at 8:49 how are you folks able to determine the total um based on so um watching um the cash be handed and then um the amount that was typed in so comparison to the tickets comparison yep yeah so if it was like you know 120 cash all no cash went in all went to the side okay um and then based on to I could show you um like our reporting what the of theages yeah so you can I can send this but just to give you an idea so like this is like we have it um we pull it pull it based on like profile um and then um I pulled the dates um from incorporate the 23rd and the 1 uh and then you know the um the amounts might be just a slight different just based on like other shortages cashier ring on it um and then I did it um down here based on yeah the transactions of each day and then yeah watching the video so for example like the first was like 414 but what I saw based um cash entered and exchange right so for example the 31st the first one was for 200 the other one was for 40 so that one that other one must have been for 60 So based off of the facts and circumstances Burlington does want to pursue with criminal investigation okay so because of the amount and the pattern of the activity the way that you conducted yourself it is a felony so yes you're going to be placed under arrest at this time if you need to call Mom text her whatever the case is like I said to show you some form of compassion go ahead and call or make a text message whatever you need to all right but at the end of the day I want to make sure Mom's okay as well so if there's something that we need to call for let's do that um the next thing is I can call the Department of Children and Families and just say hey look you know fortunately the daughter was placed under arrest today mom's you know in her mid to late 50s she's very sick which is what led to the to the incident so we're just a little concerned for Mom and someone can just go and do a wellbe and check on her make sure that she's okay and offer Services if she needs it so essentially what this is is there's a bond schedule that we have to look at all right what the bond schedule is is you pay a certain amount of money to a bondsman some form of collateral and you can get out within a few hours if you're unable to bond yourself out of jail or have someone Bond you out you would have to go to first appearance in the morning okay and then the judge will look over all the paperwork everything that me and you have talked about that I'm going to put in that paperwork and they'll make a determination from there you know especially if you don't have any other previous criminal history or anything like that if they'll let you go okay they may say you need to be there for a few days really up to okay I gotta your husband's at work okay does your husband live there as well he's no where's he live at okay okay okay okay so it's not like she wouldn't be cared for okay okay see I misunderstood you I'm sorry make sure though because he's not always right where does he work at he's out of state oh goodness gracious need to make sure right like I said if you want to take a moment and call him feel free okay I don't mean to trapease you through the store but I do have to place you in handcuffs okay we have to do it here no and not saying that you would but reason being because you're officially under my custody if you take flight you run away not only could you face an additional charge but that's my responsibility okay you're now currently my responsibility okay I'm going to ask you plainly while we're sitting in front of another female as well to kind of save you the embarrassment you're fine other than your phone and your keys is there anything on your person that you can that you shouldn't have hor shoes hand grenades pocket knives box cutter okay I got you put your hands do wish you well and I mean that sincerely I wish your mom well would it be an issue for her husband to come back later and grab her belong anything that's left here oh yeah no yeah we can do that if you want to take I the only issue is if it's perishable stuff it goes to the jail they're just going to throw it in the trash okay okay yeah yeah it's just containers you can actually throw away okay thank you yeah yes ma'am and if you don't mind I need everything out of your pockets please you can keep the tissues I'm not worried about the tissues well my keys my car is there get it he'll have to come and pick up the keys from you at the jail if you're still there okay but you keep them because we don't want to we don't want your vehicle to get stolen so let's make sure it's locked so your husband can either pick you up from the jail or whatever the case is that's something that you'll have to figure out later okay they tell me to time and stuff yeah they should be able to tell you and you'll have access to a phone that's okay so if that's the worst thing that happens to me yep go ahead and take that off your clip off too okay so all of your belongings are going to go with you to the jail you just can't have them in the in the vehicle while you're at the jail okay and Mrs con yeah and there's there's a very good reason as to why I won't tell you why but I tell this to everybody not pointing fingers at you I highly doubt it's the case with you especially okay but if there's anything on your person inside your clothing or anything when you go to the jail even if it's just tobacco if it goes into the jail it's an additional charge for introduction C okay gotcha like I said I tell it to everybody okay she was charged with fraud she was sentenced to two days in jail
