My name is Brian Coberger. Once inside, I proceeded directly to the third floor. In a southeast bedroom, I killed Madison Mogan and Kaylee Gunows. I then descended to the second floor. There I encountered Zana Kernodal. A surviving roommate later told police she heard what she thought was crying, followed by a male voice saying something to the effect of, "It's okay. I'm going to help you." I killed Kernodal, then entered her bedroom and killed Ethan Chapen. The operation was not without unforeseen variables. Another roommate opened her door and saw a figure clad in black clothing and a mask described as 510 or taller with bushy eyebrows. I walked directly past her as she stood in what she described as a frozen shock phase and exited through the same sliding glass door I had used to enter. It was on the third floor that I made a critical error. I left a tan leather knife sheath lying on the bed next to Madison Mogan. The Idaho State Lab would later locate a single source of male DNA on the button snap of that sheath.
