Witnesses claimed they saw a man walking along the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his chest while a woman with him screamed for help. Unfortunately, Matthew succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. And detectives were told he had only been there because Jerry and his girlfriend had recently gotten into a nasty physical fight. And Matthew wanted to make sure she was safe while Jerry came to collect his clothes. The next day, officers spotted Jerry's truck on a surveillance camera, but because its appearance had been altered, they couldn't pursue it. However, 5 days later, an officer on patrol noticed the same truck again, recognized Jerry behind the wheel, and initiated a pursuit that was soon going to end in disaster. >> 340 dispatch, Anna and West second. Jerry was transported to the hospital for a checkup and later while being interviewed by detectives, he requested an attorney and refused to answer any questions. According to his girlfriend, he already had a long criminal history and had previously been involved in a drug shootout with police. He was charged with murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, failure to comply, having weapons while under disability, and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
