on April 13 2021 Brookhaven police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a vehicle that damaged private property and left the scene of an accident in Atlanta Georgia shortly after Volkswagen was pulled over for the investigation while talking to the driver the officer suspected him of driving under the influence he was asked to participate in standardized field sobriety tests in a breath test by blowing into a breathalyzer really so so all that I know is I came here to take the report uh basically hit not on property yeah right so they say that this car comes flying out of the gate didn't hit the gate itself then went up on the curb and then broke a sign and a sprinkler system into bushes did 360 and then left um as I'm sitting there he comes driving by when I come out he didn't want to pull over but I guess he realized this is a dead end but as I'm talking to him he's just he's off man I don't know what's up with him he just keeps saying he's scared and I have his keys did you get him out of the car and talk to him I didn't do any of that yet something down for it 1854 what's his name um best Christmas hey I'm also Schuler hello you might step out for a second talk to me let's try to figure out what's going on today you okay I'm fine scared you're scared yeah what happened out here I car in front of me stopped very quickly and I got scared and I didn't want to hit it and so I ran around the bushes and that's where all this damage came from okay what'd you hit um just the uh the sign and the trees and and I felt bad I didn't want to hit the car in front of me I didn't want to hurt anybody yeah why didn't you just stop well I tried to but they I I was going to get gas and I saw it I just I didn't want to hurt anybody and I felt bad about it so okay and then I turned around and came home and I was like I'll get gas tomorrow okay all right um did you look at your car yet yeah after all of this all of this is from it's yeah it's it's the tires are fine it's just you know just a little bit of damage but yeah but I didn't I didn't want to hurt anybody and so I got scared and I didn't want to hurt that car I didn't want to hurt the person in it and so that's when I pulled over to the right and went around them and hit all the stuff I just didn't want to hurt anybody so okay did you think about calling us well I I was I no I was too scared at the moment I was like I'm just gonna turn around which I did and I'm like I'm gonna go back in my house and yes it is if somebody hit your property in your house your mailbox and all that stuff would you want to call and make a report and let you know it just you know when when something like that happens you're so scared you just don't think about it you know and that's kind of where I came from you ever been in an accident before no no Liz have you had any any kind of alcohol or drugs today at all prescription well you take any prescription medications nope none at all no okay and no alcohol or any kind of recreational drugs if you took something earlier I mean I can't charge you with no no you know using a drug earlier no not at all not at all okay so nothing at all today nope I mean you you're not impaired with anything no no okay that's I just feel awful I didn't I didn't want to hit anybody and so that's why I got scared you know I got you understand you can go to jail for being in an accident and leaving a scene right yeah because you got to report to the police and you got to uh let people know if you damage their property yeah right yeah okay you mind if I check your eyes you y'all can take it why is he still drinking alcohol if he's an active liver failure I have no idea I mean there's nothing I can do did you see him drinking and everything earlier what's that did you see him drinking and everything earlier no I didn't see him drinking anything yeah um he said he doesn't have work have any health conditions no he says they don't have any health in this I have a whole counter full of pills too and he's under Dr stanstein I don't know who Dr Stein is he's a liver transplant doctor just under Dr Stein's ear like I said I can go down and get all of his medicine for you [Music] thank you you can look at his ass and tell he's jaundice yeah I saw his eyes were yeah for jaundice is there any reason foreign [Applause] make a big decision [Applause] looks best are you in liver pay right now man do you have do you have liver problems no you're not taking any medication at all so why would why would your roommate say that because he doesn't know that that my jumped the curb so I didn't hurt somebody and that's all it was that's all it was and now I'm in trouble again he's adamant that he does not have any issues there for a week and a half like I told him I had to call y'all such eventually about about two months ago now um I guess you know I think it's legitimate concern that he does have enough problems so he didn't have the issue release him on the copy because of that which his eyes are yellow and if he looked at him or not but they are yellow [Music] um really he said I mean he said if we had legitimate concern that he could have health problems like Liberty or whatever then yeah of course he's he's been adamant he doesn't have any issues so obviously he tells the cat that they're going to take him but his eyes are yellow right now but he's saying that when he says so he's got a whole bunch of medications that yes he has to take he he said he was in liver failure but he's not does that happen um so I mean he refused I'm just gonna they do they do a Paris and pieces yeah yeah because your eyes are yellow okay okay um so what I think he's probably best that I just give you your tickets and you not go to jail if you need these medications right that'd be great that would be great if you need these medications support myself here look at me look at me you've already seen it so Mike that's this is what I'm telling you you're you're telling me you're not sick but what I'm seeing myself okay all right well I'm gonna give you I'm gonna give you tickets and we're gonna go we're gonna separate okay [Applause] see you got some health problems and you really I mean it is some Grace step up here for me if you don't mind it is some grapes you know because you still could go and then maybe go to the hospital and all that kind of stuff but thank you so much but you you really got some serious health problems going on so you gotta taking all the time oh man I'm just you just got to be sorry for driving drunk and sorry for leaving the scene of an accident and then fix those problems and don't repeat them and then you will have satisfied what I want right because I don't want you to get him drive drunk and kill somebody right or kill yourself sorry okay you got enough to worry about with your house you got enough to worry about your health hold on I gotta get you to sign a couple things you can take your phone this time uh but you got to make sure that you're doing the right thing I hear but what if you go down here and you and you had hit another car and it had some three-year-olds in it and you kill some kids you know how would you how would you feel about that that's awful right you know so people don't think about it and don't realize it but it's very unsafe if you're gonna drink that's fine just don't drive just but don't drink because your doctor will tell you the same thing right stay in the bedroom all right so here's I need you to you're releasing your vehicle to a third party of home okay one for DUI and one for hitting the property down here and damage it and then leaving the scene anytime you have an accident you got to let them know you gotta let us know that kind of stuff
