She They were like, "That woman punched me in the face." >> So, >> there's a good one. >> While Laurel was restrained, the manager gave her side of the story. Everything was recorded on surveillance cameras. Several witnesses were present. >> Hello. What? So, what led up to her punching? >> So, she was sitting there. My team's been calling me up at the office, so I was watching her talk to herself. I'm like, "Okay, she's talking to herself. I'll be down in a minute." So I and I then I heard the yelling so I could hear it upstairs. So I brought another guy with me, my assistant. So we went to go approach her and I was about right in here. I said, "Hey, can you come here with me?" And she started she was yelling and then I said, "Ma'am, can you come out with me and we need to go outside?" And she's yelling at me and then she stands up. I said, "No, you need I get firm with her. You need to come outside." I think I was standing right here. You were here. And then she starts walking towards me. I'm like, "Come on." And I start walking this way. And then she just came up to me and just punched me right here. >> Um, and then of course after that, I was just kind of like, "Well, she got into I I thought she was going to punch you guys. >> Got into your face." >> Yeah. >> Uh, I didn't know if it was a actual fist, but the girls said, "Yeah, she fed it up." And >> Yeah. Um, we try to lock the doors because she kept coming back. We have it all on We should be on surveillance. >> Yeah, we'll we'll come back and grab a video from you guys. Can I take a quick photo? I know there's not any marks or anything. >> Yeah, >> it might bruise some hair. >> I've never been punched before, so it was very shocking. And now I'm at work. I'm like, we should not deal with this work. As officers tried to finish the arrest process, Laurel continued making strange statements, warning police that if they recorded her, they could be taken to court. >> Okay. Uh, essentially, I knew that they had asked her to leave and then she got punched. Uh, I asked a little what led up to the reason why they're asking her to leave and it's essentially she was uh sitting at the coffee area right there and just yelling to at herself, nobody. and just screaming. She's like, "We could hear her from up in the management room." So, we asked her to leave and kept asking her like, "Man, you need to stand up and come outside with me." And she just softer. Uh, got hit in the the left side. Um, I got all the names and a couple witnesses, >> but >> I'll probably I'll probably just have you just do a paragraph sentence me cuz I'll I'll handle all the booking and stuff once once she's in and everything. You can split. Just Just do me a paragraph. >> We should see if she's already been trespassing. >> She's not. Okay. They want her trespassing. So, um, >> I follow you. >> Yeah. Let me bring I don't want to try to bring >> 999. I was looking at that as you told me to set it up. >> I don't think >> Okay, let me upload. >> No. >> Hey, Laurel, I'm going to read you your rights, okay? And just let you know you are being audio and video recorded. Um, >> um, I want you to let you know that you're, uh, um, going to have to talk to, uh, a producer about that. So, >> if you audio and video record me, that you are, uh, liable to be taken taken to court, taken seriously, and taken to court. >> Despite her outbursts, officers calmly read her Miranda rights, explaining that she had the right to remain silent and the right to a lawyer. Laurel didn't fully respond or cooperate, so the officers moved forward with the arrest. >> I'm I'm going to read you your rights, okay? You have the right to remain silent. >> Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the rights time to talk to a lawyer and have him or her be present in question. >> You are under legislative concern for >> you decide anytime you exercise these rights and not answer your questions or make any statements. Do you understand each of the rights I explained to you? You are under a legislative concern for use camera and a voice recorder over me. >> Laura, do you understand the rights I've explained to you? >> Um, I heard you. >> Okay. >> Actually, I didn't hear you very well. >> Would you like me to read them again to you? [Music] >> I can read them again to you if you'd like. Laurel, Laurel, are you going to listen if I read you your rights or no? >> Okay. I'm going to take that as a no, then. Uh, I'm also going to read you a trespass warning from Safeway. You are no longer permitted, invited, licensed, or otherwise privileged to enter up or made above location. And not Safeway. You understand you may not for any reason enter locations for one year and that includes the parking lot and gas pumps. Chad, >> we're done. Follow me. >> Yeah, I'm going to follow you. >> Laurel was still upset but eventually calmed down. Officers noted that she had resisted arrest and even spit on them during the incident. So, they had to place a spit hood on her to keep everyone safe. >> 41 cas. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> This is Laurel. She's She's calm now. She resisted arrest. Spit on us. >> She spit on you? >> Yeah. >> You mean a spit hood? You show that spit hood. >> Yeah, I do. >> You want to just use ours? >> I took it out. I took it out of the packaging like like 5 minutes ago, maybe. So, >> are you going to walk in with us? >> Yeah. Are you going to find him? >> Wait a minute.
