on January 28th 2022 a foresight County Sheriff's deputy attempted to pull over a U-Haul rental truck for a minor violation incoming Georgia however the driver defied orders and sped away recklessly weaving through the crowded lineer shopping center putting countless lives at risk I'll be singal 12 for the U-Haul vehicle be po to the plaza F 79 I got come up video0 we're going to be going on to we going to be making a right stand by the wood be on H in heading toward 3180 making a left on l the pursuit continued for several minutes before the deputy lost sight of the suspect's vehicle traff condition light spe about 7 mph continuing coming up to the highway I lost visual Highway Poss took a right direction I believe I see him he's going to continue on head toward 318 I lost sight thankfully a determined search Led them to the abandoned U-Haul parked in a nearby subdivision just hours later the suspect was apprehended and placed in the deputy's car for [Music] questioning [Music] the deputy spoke with a witness who recounted seeing the suspect abandon the U-Haul and enter a black SUV that pulled up shortly after hi hi there you want to give me one more second almost done okay no worries do you want to come in yeah I just want to talk to you real quick you talk to officers oh yeah yeah here it might be better if I come out there let me grab a jacket okay I don't have to worry about this guy do I no no so I conducted a traffic stop on him up at Lakeland Plaza and he ran from me okay um so that's why I'm trying to get this information okay um when you saw truck pull in did you see him get out or did you see stand I actually went to go pick my son up and when we came home he was standing by the white van there on the phone um when we started walking down the sidewalk he went back to the truck so I watched him from the bedroom window CU he was stranger and we pretty much know everybody over here um so then at that point he got out and I thought he was going to the neighbor's car so I came back out just to make sure nothing was going on and he was gone okay so thought and um I know you told the other officers that he was a shave ballhead mhm okay skinny white mouth Yes okay clear um do you see what type of clothes was wearing that I don't you know no I don't really recall what he was wearing okay was it what did he have like did you know if he had like jacket on or if it was anything like that I don't know my son may know better than me because I just don't retain things like that your son here no he's actually at a friend's house over there okay got um does he have a cell phone yes if you don't mind call him just see if he can give us some information y I will um or if you know the vehicle that picked him up in it I don't know what type it was I know it was a black SUV okay and it had magnets on the side like maybe some type of business okay and it was on both sides let me grab that got you no [Applause] problem this was my other neighbor who sleept through the whole thing now she's calling no worries um hey I have an officer here that wants to know if do you remember what the guy was wearing [Music] jeans he look like he just got a fork or something you don't remember the color of his shirt or anything we'll go with green then because I was thinking it was green so it was a green long sleeve shirt right I'm pretty sure it was a green long sleeve shirt yeah okay perfect okay I'll I'll call you back love you bye so if you don't mind just putting that in your statement as well yeah what he was wearing yes okay um just what your son of um just put his if you want to put his first name that's fine um and then you thought it as well it was a green shirt just put that in your statement and then wherever you get done I'm going go talk with them down there cuz they've got a black SUV stopped and kind of has the same matching uh description so I just want to make sure if it is him we'll go ahead with that this new lead led to the SUV's subsequent stop and the arrest of the suspect within how you doing sir I'm good you doing all right so um walk over here for a second witness about an hour ago 318 truck call somebody on the phone a black SUV with magnets on the side pulls up um told Turner he found this car coming in here makes a traffic stop talk to him about the warrant go about the warrant and I say hey man hang on a second you're getting detained I put him in the car driver here says he this guy that car get stuff out of it give him a ride to the bank so he get money so he can take him to J um well the reason I pull over when I was coming down heading this they kept starting to turn in then they stopped a little bit more turn in come and then when they pulled in here and they saw their lights he stopped started backing up okay and almost ran into me so I lit him up got out came up St through the driver got everybody's information ran him well he came back with a possible hit yeah but the hit was for someone with a bunch of tattoos came back up got him out you anything doing this you- hul cuz y'all wanted you were telling them to get out of here pretty quick they left in a black SUV yeah Turner was on his way to come over here this guy was uh driving around all real weird like soon as we put out a black SUV made a stop on it uh guy driving it a taxi he says he came and picked that guy up that guy got all the stuff out of the car out of the so I've detained him put him in the back seat right he he did say that he picked them up taxi driver says that he we're getting to for the guy the bald guy in the back seat yours yeah to witness when she came home that's why I pulled him over she saw him coming to saw a guy going into the truck uh she said it was a long sleeve t-shirt with jeans okay so I read M Miranda writes um I kind of called so we had a bunch of videos a bunch of witnesses and stuff and kind of gave him a little spiel about getting caught ly and stuff and he kind of pauses I'm like I'm going to give you some time to think about it and we'll talk to you in a little bit so um is what kind teacher she said gr think okay but if you want to now that he's had some time to think about it hopefully my little speech will get and tell the truth um so go ahead and just talk to him and be like hey what I was off you ear whatever and just run your investigation the suspect was advised of his Miranda writes he maintained his innocence insisting he was simply trying to avoid trouble after a long work day hey what's going on my man no nice hey I'm de Co Sheriff's Office how you doing sir good here I don't want that to get caught and broken off thank you sir um so I'm the deputy that tried to make the traffic stop on you when you're pulling into Wendy's okay um so tell me a little bit about this what what's going on with you tonight nothing I've just been working all day okay what did you do after you got off work I I didn't really get off of work at all you didn't get off work I mean I yeah I did at at the end yeah and then I called the taxi in the they picked me up okay where did they pick you up from uh right at a gas station at a gas station okay so listen to okay more than you lied to me the worst it's going to get for you okay I've got multiple Witnesses giving you your exact description okay coming from this U-Haul okay so you can either tell me the truth or I can keep on adding charges on you it's going to get you a lot worse okay so what's going to happen everything in this U-Haul is going to get towed it's going to get seized so if any there's anything in there that is actually yours I need to know now before I seize everything okay cuz none of this is going to go well for you I'll just let you know that right now okay we've got multiple Witnesses I observed you same exact bald head beard I observed you driving you knew you ran a traffic stop from me so the more you keep online the more charges I'm going to add up okay so I'm going to give you one chance I don't I don't want any any trouble sir and I don't want to give you trouble okay yeah I don't want no trouble at all but look what we're looking at right now we're looking at a few charges okay the more you lie to me the more felonies I'm going to start adding on okay if you talk to me and you you tell me what's actually going on I can try to help you but if you keep on doing this I ain't going to be able to help you I'm just going to stack them M you're going to arrest me no matter what though you have a warrant so warrant no it's no you don't have a warrant okay so I'm sorry he I thought somebody said he had a warrant I guess it was somebody else okay right now you're tained okay okay but I I can physically 318 C you 16 please I can identify you being the driver so can all the three neighbors that saw you get out of the car get into the car with this exact vehicle they described I mean to a te they even said that he was a white male with a bald head they said it looked like he just got off work because his blue jeans were completely dirty and then they said he had a long sleeve t-shirt got into a black SUV with stickers that possibly had some type of business on it well my man there's a black SUV with stickers on it okay sure yes sir you get where I'm coming from I mean I I I understand what you're saying yes sir okay so why' you run from me sir listen man are you going to take me to jail regardless no I'm not I'm trying to get the truth out of you but if you keep on lying to me I'm just going to keep on stacking it up man it's not going I don't want no trouble man and I'm not trying to get you trouble that's why I'm just trying to tell you okay but if you tell us the truth I can work with you what does that mean if you tell me what really happened this whole entire night instead of giving me the BS of you got picked up at the gas station you're continue working before the gas station if you continue that it's not going it's not going you're going to let me go if I if I no right right now you're being detained until my investigation is done okay okay I have multiple Witnesses I even have me observing you being the driver of this vehicle okay all I'm trying to ask is why would you run for me you don't have no warrants or nothing so why would you run for me I don't want no trouble with nobody man I got five kids man I get that and I I'm a hard work I just got work man my kids are five 6 8 10 and 14 okay so that stuff that's in the backseat of the U-Haul that diapers the blankets the kids clothes do you want that back because I'm not going to seize your K yeah I'm not going to seize your kids stuff in the back do you mean my kids Stu there's kids stuff all in that U-Haul my man so with you saying that you have kids kids have my kids have never rod in in in that U-Haul or a U-Haul okay my I'm just being straight up with you my kids have not rode in in in that U-Haul okay I'm being honest with you about that okay so your kids have never wrode I got I got a phone number for the guy's house that I was at uh working all day today okay and I have absolutely no no doubt in my mind that you were working today I mean I can obviously see that you were working today okay so what do you think Andrew has told us about the the rental car being his name and he says that you're the one operating the vehicle what do you have to say about that what do you mean the the the rental that's in this vehicle in Andrew's name says that he you drive it back and forth to work yeah okay and you're just going to sit here and play dumb from it I'm not trying to play dumb sir I don't want no trouble with nobody man I just need to know what what I need to do you need to tell us the truth my man that's just that's all I need to know why you bur from us I I just need to know what I what I need to do like I've already told you my man I'm just trying to figure out what I need to do I get I get I get where that list my question my friend are we going to find dope in the car is that why you ran a lot of people want cuz they have dope in the car I don't have any drugs on me man I don't I I don't no I'm this guy named Andrew rented the vehicle out for him and he's been utilizing and picking them up back and forth and using that truck as his Transportation so that way you've got you can check all your so the witness said the SUV the black SUV that she saw come pick them up has some type of stickers like it was a business so I saw it I was like okay perfect okay are they doing witness statements the black SUV driver was just a taxi driver who simply responded to a pickup call hey what's going on man hey I'm de Co Sheriff's Office all right so I know you're completing that okay just give me a run around I know you probably have been asked a few times okay give me a run around what happened today are are you a taxi or you you're a taxi yeah okay what happened he called me that he needed a ride to go to this guy yeah okay to go to Jasper okay so he gave me address I think it was 275 did he have your number or was it through he has your number no he called through the company through the okay okay gotcha so to pick him at 275 toel Street okay so when I got there I couldn't find it m so he told me he was behind me so I went and came at the danion and came back then he said that we should go and pick this man mhm then we go to Jasper okay so we went to pick this man in a in a dunon 4 6 Stone View uh incoming so when then he asked me how much is going to cost from where I pick them to Jasper okay so when I told him the amount he said he cannot pay okay so then I should take them back to the car so them as in just him or was he riding both of them okay got so when we got here he said we went to the U truck then he got down to go and get his at card okay then we went to the West Fargo close to the police station for him to go and get his um money so then after he got his money then he paid me he paid me then he asked me to bring him back to the truck right so once we were coming he said that um if I can make a t then I realized that there was a car behind me so and the road was narrow then he said I can pull over so that the car can go then I can t as soon as I pull over then I saw the blue lights then the man came and asked me said what is going on I said that then he said we were trying to T so that's why gotcha okay if you don't mind just put and all that in that statement okay um and then once you get done just let me know and I'll come get it from you okay and Jasper um so he said whever he came back over here he said I've got a de card in the trucku here U-Haul grabb the debit card said take me back while far the money um I guess you're good like Co Reckless clean traffic charges is your license valid man or oh yes sir I think so I don't know I'm pretty sure I have a valid license 0573 tell me did you think that that U-Haul had been reported stolen I I I I don't know man I don't I don't know any I don't know man I don't want no trouble man I don't want to disect we're just trying figure out why I don't want to trying figure out why I to my car the suspect faced a slew of charges including reckless driving fleeing the police improper lane changes and failing to [Music] yield so the U-Haul keys were found in this pocket sh however the chaotic ordeal wasn't over as he awaited transport to the foresight County Jail the suspect lost consciousness Medics rushed him to the hospital where he was fortunately cleared and finally delivered to jail for booking hey you okay you getting sleepy on me okay as long as you're okay pee really quick you can pee when you get to the jail it's only about a 5 minute D less than 5 minutes I'm sorry D pull my sleeve down yeah trust me my car is warm Bud all right man we're going to stand up we're going to have a seat all right all right thank you thank you you have a good night all
