on July 6 2023 Edmund police responded to a 911 call from a Walmart in Edmund Oklahoma about an 83-year-old woman who was robbed in the parking lot leaving her with head trauma Emergency Medical Services and officers rushed to the sceney yes ma'am this is Casey over here at 2200 Danforth Walmart I need an ambulance and an officer up here I have an older white female here in the store who right now apparently she just got her purse taken from her in the parking lot like physically taken off of her person like yeah like she's like bleeding and she told me she got herbody how long ago did this happen they found they found her in the parking lot it had have been within the past 5 to 10 minutes okay is she conscious in breathing yes she is can she tell she's really bloody at my Ser like I'm sorry can she tell you what the people that took it from her looked like do you know do you know what the person looked like [Applause] that so she she doesn't have an idea of what the person look like okay how old is she uh how old are you yes 83 okay and she's at the service desk with you I'm sorry where is she at right now uh customer service okay are you guys able to pull footage of the parking lot uh yeah I'm I'm able to I need to go get that prepared real quick uh the okay I've got that way okay okay thank you thank you all right hey how are you I think she's at the service desk I'm going to talk to real few people yeah I got someone going over there talk to her you find it yet yeah I'm not sure what's going on right now because she says was the lady had a vest on so that means it was one of our [Music] Associates where did where did you find her so so we I got called to the Service Des okay she was at the service bloody she said she was robbed so they took her purse um and she said that somebody stole a person in the parking lot they had a blue vest on she didn't see who they was so they was brought in by a customer from here to the service desk and I went to the service desk to meet them so when I dive back she's going she walked up the the middle here here up the middle out to this V this car way out here so like we're on on row uh eight very top of row eight and that's where she was last seen and I'm dialing back now trying to see who this is with her because there is a blue vest with her that I can see from a distance or a vest in general or somebody with her okay and that's right outside these doors yeah that's right can you tell what kind of car she was in I can't right now but what I'm going to do is I'm going to find out who was walking out there with her okay I'm going to head out to that area uh will you just let me know yeah all [Music] right did you see an old lady out here a little while ago an old lady did you see an old lady out here a little while ago no I sure have okay all right thanks the store manager mentioned that one of the employees identified as 21-year-old lraa Johnson appeared to have followed the elderly woman to her vehicle hello all right so this is the lady the victim's truck okay um I don't know I guess one of our Associates followed her out here okay so yeah do you know who followed her out here uh yeah who was it her name is l Traya Traya where's she at she's on my C too where is she she probably is I saw her on grocery heading that way she's back yeah she asked me to come the lady asked me to come make sure her truck is lo loot because she has her purse little TR girls the associate took B of one of the units at Walmart it's possibly a Walmart employee that did this I'm out with the victim's truck at the very end of the parking lot I'm going to send a manager in uh to identify the person that walk out to the car um we just identified her he I think her name isaa Johnson lraa Johnson yeah that's it you have eyes on her in the store try to find [Music] her I'm coming back in from the store where did you think she was grocery side she was working on the grocery [Music] side she she could be in the back break room could be in the back on the what way is that she could be in the back on the southwest corner too unloading a [Music] truck what does she look like about came back into work September 4th bag the bag what is she saying about the bag she said it was a brown bag I said like Michael Coors and then I was like that's the only thing I know I'm take a picture of it and then we'll go show to the VCT yeah you send a picture will you text me the picture where's your mom stay at I'm I'm on I'm just home I got it but where do you get your mail at um I get it from I put the address on I don't remember it's like 31 312 Southeast or Southwest how do you get up here um I walk you I I sleep outside actually I'm really homeless I swear to I am but I I got this job you know I'm trying to give me a place to sleep how long you been long you been working here almost month mons I don't know okay so what's the address you put on your res walking back to my area and I we ran into each other again and um I was going to the restroom and she was going I no she actually where the restroom was I'm like over here follow me no it's in the follow me over here to the to the bathroom so we both go to the bathroom um I had some money and stuff on me like on my phone and I sat it down cuz we was conversating before we went like as we going into the bathroom so I don't know madebe for my phone now whatever but I sat it down and when I came out and got out the stall she was curing or whatever so I thinking like she's on her phone or whatever but she's talking to me I'm like Ma I was just assisting you why why why why the hity she just got to call me all type of things so I'm I I'm not knowing that I put my phone down and I check my pockets and one on my in my in my pockets I'm like let me think and I'm like oh I left on my account it wasn't service no in the bathroom we was in the bathroom we still in the bathroom at in this period in the bathroom and I'm like um as I'm talking like but I'm L my phone I'm just going to just demonstrate I said ma'am do you know um I said Ma'am why you why you been but I'm not angry I'm like man why you mad at me like what I do but I'm looking on my phone I'm like I've been helping you this whole time and I'm looking on my phone and then as course it goes off it's in her purse or her wallet or I don't the pocketbook so she like I looked at her I said um I think my phone is I know it's not I'm like my my her she like no it's not got to cuss me out she got the still going on and on so instead of me you know making a scene or whatever I'm like you you you already tried to come here and steal you already done Tred to come here and get whatever for free let me just let's just walk to your car but can I get my phone we still walk to the to the to the car we get to the car she she was giving me my she was trying to give me my phone but I just snatched it out of her hand and she didn't look me with a purse and I grabbed the person grabbed my phone out her hand and she fell in did the most and I'm like the officer spoke with the victim again reassuring her that the attacker was in custody and that the investigation was ongoing does that look like your purse no okay all right we have we have the person we're going to try to track down your stuff okay okay what hospital you guys going to I guess Mercy Mercy we'll have someone meet you down there your truck's all locked up okay let them take care of you we we'll worry about that okay we okay yeah you you let them take care of you okay we'll I'd have to look at video cuz I didn't get that far I've seen the customer come back in this door but when I seen latria she was in front of electronics in front of electronics when I saw her right the front bathroom here you know I'm going to go up there and look stuff but we might just might have to just transport her to the station or I don't know if he thinks she's done talking we can go they have another office which I imagine in the back of the store and I don't really want a per Walker back and forth either time so I'm going to go check the female bathroom there's a stall at left reviewed the surveillance footage to determine if there was any confrontation or shouting between the women as latria had claimed right here so you can see right here she doesn't have anything on her right mhm so I'm going to dial it back and you'll see her on this camera right she's claiming she's claiming that the lady stole her cell phone in the bathroom and then she follows her out saying ma'am you have my cell phone no I didn't how it goes down on where we at I figured not but I I wasn't I wasn't privy to the video earlier so I just wanted for my own sake so you'll see need one more shot trying to get here s six the park here she truck and she dit so this is her empty-handed nothing in her hand she doubles back and looks back okay I wonder if I can get an entry shot look at one just breathe during transport she kept sobbing and insisting on her innocence repeatedly claiming racial discrimination however the follow-up interview would reveal the truth and ultimately seal her fate I'm I didn't even do nothing I swear to God she took my phone and everything from me and I got to go to ja cuz I'm black like this is crazy this is so [ __ ] crazy to me because I'm black like this is how really feel now I see how I really feel the lady took my [ __ ] first and I got to go to gym cuz I got my [ __ ] back from her this is crazy this is crazy this is crazy C crazy night I don't even have a future no more like this is crazy I'm really getting the kills for robbery robbery me oh this is CRA oh she really just be like I really just got my phone back I didn't want to call the police on hard when she gets the FR shots on me cuz I didn't do it oh my God oh my God oh my God oh my God sir do you know when I'll be able to make my first phone call I it'll probably be within a few minutes okay you can step on out for me during a follow-up interview her story shifted multiple times each version becoming increasingly unbelievable I can like it tells you you know if when your phone goes a certain distance you know it rings beats or whatever so I'm like it's still in the bathroom so I'm looking for it and as I get up you know as I'm checking I'm like um you know I'm I'm not asking her I'm just looking and I'm like talk to her cuz I just know she the bathro did not care one bit we had to my sister calls not my real sister but a friend of mine calls that took me in for like a month ago she took me in she she was on the phone with us and I'm like hold on hold on I'm hold on but I'm telling her like ma'am um my phone is in your purse she ends up giving me half like my phone but my money is still in there my money no my money was in there but but it wasn't in there so I'm asking her like I didn't instead of her you know hily I see she going in and out cuz she was talking to me crazy like as it cuted me out and stuff and I'm like ma'am I was the one that was I'm helping you I was helping you earlier I'm going to buy you your items she was like I need the fertilizer or whatever and they not trying to let me get my stuff so with that being said I just was like we can just go back to the L garden and I will you know I'm going to buy them so we got back to we got towards the lawn garden and she was like oh it's not too if that's not it's it's okay that's not it's going to be too much you don't have to that's not there going to be too much for you and um I don't want you to buy my items basically she just telling me not to buy her items after I just said I'll buy them she was okay with it she told me not to so at this point I'm seeing she going in and out like I don't know if she got all time I don't know but one minute she cussing at me one minute she nice to me but I have a grandma too so I didn't just off RIP just like being rude I was just letting her talk cuz I'm like okay she obviously not in her right state of mind so I'm like M okay that's fine um I don't have to buy them or whatever so she goes he goes out through the the back of the lawn garden the area that's open but it's closed um and I'm I'm like no she was like yeah I'm just going to go home or I'm just going to go get in my car go home and I'm like okay she like but my car is way over there so when I got out I'm looking at she's like oh where's my car so I'm like you need looking for your car by this time you know I'm she's still going in now cuz one minute she cussing at me one minute she not but I'm not you know thinking of you know really going to just cuss not feeling some type of way the only reason why I didn't feel some type way about it because like I said I had a grandma like that I got a grandma like that and she go in and out too so I'm steady helping her find her car we help we going all around like find her car find her car and I'm like man my money is not in my thing I'm like um I mean I don't mind bu your a or whatever but I'm literally homeless I was just going to help you you said you didn't want it no more so can I just have my money back first she was going to give it to me then she said she wasn't so me being me I hug well we hugged and I grabbed her purse I'm like this is I just need my money can I get my money she first she was going like she was willing to give it to me and then she just was like give me my purse I'm not giving you my money I'm it's my money she just kept saying it's my money I'm not giving you a [ __ ] thing a [ __ ] thing and and I'm like ma'am this is I just I see my money in the back of your wallet right there that's my money it was like 60 something dollars I'm like this is my money right here ma'am I'm homeless I was trying to help you out like can I just give my money back she didn't want to give it back so I took it back and I had my phone already you know and it fell out so I'm like you yeah it fell out and she fell that's what happened she fell out it fell everything fell out and if we was tling like kind of you know over the wallet I mean over the purse and she fell and I helped her up I'm like ma'am get up come on get up I'm going to call the police on you she's like no no just give me my purse so I'm like ma'am get up she's like no just give me my purse just give me my purse and I'm like I'm going to just call the police so instead of me calling well I wasn't on the phone with the police I was telling her I'm going to call the police so I'm as I'm met I'm mad by this time so I threw her purse throwing everything and then that's when she was I guess she came in the Walmart came she came to Walmart and I should have called the police first but I was just scared cuz we had an incident we I had a couple incidents at the same at the job and they did nothing about it they basically just told me to have a good day about it so this time I ran about it the wrong way still but that's what happened sir okay so you know there's video cameras right yes sir okay all right so when you when you went out to the to the truck we just sharpen it up like as I'm thinking she's going to give me back my okay money where is that money now they took it officers said it was in yeah they said it was um evidence so okay so did you take the money and the phone or would you took my belongings just just yeah just because just the money yeah just my money that I had that I seen her take sorry let me calm down that I seen her take in my phone that's it okay she didn't tell you anything else no and I asked the police like can I pr charge I guess sheers the other way around I would take for taking taking back so I can I can watch you yes you can watch me hold on listen to me listen to me so I can see you in the in the store mhm all right I see her following you around in the pharmacy area I see her you know from the entry into the bathroom there doesn't look like she exits the bathroom there doesn't look like there's a confrontation she's following you no it wasn't like no no like hard got you so then I can see her go out I can see and this is this is your chance this is your chance to tell me the truth here right hand sir I swear so I see you going out the lawn and garden okay and I see you go out the fire exit and I see you walk behind her she's got her purse strapped around her shoulder I see you guys walk through through the um the parking lot to the truck yes okay we see all that okay we talking the whole right I see that okay then I see you get to the truck here's my issue yes sir when I see you walk back I was running and you have her purse yes I did yes I I know I said that I said I had a no you didn't I I just asked you if he just took your belongings he took her purse well well I said in the middle of before you asked me that I said I took her purse and I took my well I took my belongings and I thre her purse everywhere okay and where did you throw her purse at I just do it I was mad I honestly don't know I was just doing stuff CU I was just doing stuff I don't okay so I see you throw it into a trash can yes I should have done I know I was so bad cuz I'm like I just know she going to try to say that I did something to her when and I was on the phone the whole time I I know I see I see you getting on the phone a couple times I was on the phone the whole time I swear she had who are you talking to I was talking to the the friend that took me in okay and I swear to God I know I should have threw it away but I was being petty I was mad and I'm like this woman just we was just getting like I'm I'm looking at her car I'm looking like we we having a discussion and she's she's making it seem like she's going to give me my things back she's making it seem like he's going to give my things back so I'm chopping it up with her like as so here here's the best thing to do you have an 83 year old female 83 okay she's got she has got a pretty big size wound in the back of her head I know okay and and you and you left and you throw her purse into a trash okay with her phone in it no okay so let's let's get real I swear to god let's get real I swear to God this Johnson let's get real are are you are you hurting to where you need to where you need to to where you need to take some things I swear to God and I will get on my knees okay just you're good you don't need to do all that I just wanted my Bel okay okay like I told her I stay on the street Ma I just want my money I was going to buy you your your so she said that she had cash in her purse no she told me no we was going we was walking to the car and we walk in she was like I'm going to give you I'm going give you back your money I gave you back your phone I about my car we we just why would an 83 yearold female I just sir I've been helping I know sir I've been helping her all I didn't I didn't think nothing of it now when she just took my so how did she get a hold of your cash all of our stuff was on the well my stuff not all of our my stuff was on the counter of the bathroom bathroom yes sir and so you're saying that she got into your purse and took your cash no I didn't have your purse my phone and everything was on on the counter so you're saying she took your your phone and put it in her purse yes sir and like I why would why would she take your phone when she already has one herself I don't know sir I swear to God I don't know I swear to God I don't know if if she me like I don't even really think she meant to so I didn't think nothing of it cuz she her phone was right next I don't know if it was right next to mine I want to say it was but it wasn't cuz I didn't see it but I don't know how how anywhere my phone and my money was in her person and I I I was like okay ma'am let's just you know my grandma I got the same Grand you know she sometime she we just L gagging up she like yeah it that accident and all this stuff in my all this stuff in my person carrying I'm so sorry so when I look my phone you my money is literally on my phone on the back of it it wasn't there I'm like so how how long have you been how long you did at Walmart I've been at Walmart for about a month and a half almost two do you think the best probably way to do this is to contact a supervisor and I was and I was and when we got there no when I when I was when I got in the store I don't have this incident not this incident but two incidents prior to this incident happened to me and they just didn't care I'm not going to say it's what my color it's what race but they didn't care they just told me I couldn't do nothing about it my wallet just got stole at at at the job I don't have no verification on me it had all my verification they told me they couldn't do nothing about it but I told them can y'all call the police can we look the cameras all they let me do is check the cameras for a little bit and they told me they couldn't do nothing so this this time I I should have called police but instead I was just like they not going to do nothing I'm this is me thinking I said this they not going to do nothing I don't have two incidents already I'm black they not going to do nothing this is a white woman all the white woman she done already tried to come here and get some free items off her old receipt like I'm I just was thinking I was already mad I was not thinking s and I should I should have called the police first I should have instead of going to a supervisor anything I should have called the police first outside when I was outside when I was outside when I was outside and I told myself I should have called the police first but no I just didn't want to do none to that cuz I'm scared I'm young I'm black and this is what happens and I know it look bad but I swear to God so right here in the Bible I just wanted my things I'm homeless already I already don't got nowhere to sleep I sleep outside a Jack In The Box every oh my God let me calm down okay I sleep outside Jack in the Box every every other night if my friend don't you know come get me and let me come to her house I sleep outside so all I just wanted was my was my my phone and my the rest of the money I had till I got paid I said I was going to buy her her item she didn't want me to so we was walking out she wanted me to walk her to her car we walking out and I'm going out as we walking out we still chopping up I'm still not getting mad I'm like ma'am can I get my um my money cuz I see it's not in my phone and all that so I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly when she comes into the store you she her in the store you help her out right she comes to give me yes and you're and you're walking around in the pharmacy [Music] and problem so then you guys go into the bathroom right okay and you're saying that when she goes into the bathroom she takes your phone yes sir I'm saying she and she puts it in her and her and puts it yes sir cuz when I when I when I so let me ask you this as she's walking out of the bathroom why was there not a confrontation there we didn't have it was why if you if knew listen if you knew that she had your if you knew that she had your phone in the bathroom why didn't you why didn't you say something to her when she was walking out of the bathroom I I said it we were sitting in the bathroom I didn't we wasn't walking out the bathroom we were sitting in the bathroom for about 5 6 minutes okay that's why I'm asking when you walk out she when we walk out there we don't I don't want to make I'm in my job it's nothing I got you walk you walk out I see you on the camera you're walk out first she walks out behind you and there is no no why are you not conf confronting her right there for taking your phone then I did in the bathroom but what what argue with why would you not why would you when you walk out it looks very nonchalant it do CU I don't I don't have this is an elderly woman I don't want to make a scene in my job they already don't like me I'm on the radar so the best thing for was talking in the bathroom out the bathroom it was nothing else to talk thing for you to do is to walk out and then to go out to her car no we didn't go out straight I didn't go out straight to her car I we was walking around cuz I was going to buy her items like in the store so you're going to still buy her items even though she took your phone because ma' you have no you have no cash on you you no she at the time I didn't like when I I didn't literally look in the back of my phone or see my money was gone I didn't I didn't check until we you knew your phone was gone yes until we got and you knew your money was back there yes my money yes I didn't think she just gave it back to me okay before we even before we even stepped out the bathroom she gave me back my phone she gave you your phone back when you came she gave me back my phone she gave me back all that and that's why I'm think when you when you walked out of the bathroom before we walked out the bathroom she gave me my before we even stepped out the bathroom we didn't even that's why I thought I'm thinking she in and out of it because we is nothing so hold on hold on time out yes sir so you're saying that when you walk out of the bathroom before walked out of the bathroom we had a whole conversation okay so you got your phone back she was like oh so you're hold on Miss Johnson so what you're telling me and I just want to make sure I'm hearing this correctly you're saying that when you went into the bathroom she took your phone but then she gave it back to you before you left the bathroom yes okay so then you walked out so then why did you walk out with her to her truck because she said she needed help she wanted help in and out of so why did you so why did you grab her purse because she took my money and my stuff like my money but you already have it no my phone I don't have my phone sir you I don't okay so my your but your phone has your money with it no my phone was my money and stuff was already gone but after I got my phone back and I didn't notice it until after I'm like ma'am do you want to you want just want me to buy your items for you she like no we get to I'm still not looking at my phone I'm still haven't looking phone so literally 20 minutes ago you said that you were getting you were getting your phone and your money back back now you're saying that you're just getting your money back I'm scared I've never been in this type of situation I'm just now you're saying that you're just going to get her person to get your money back no it yes I was just let me just Rec because I'm swear to God this is not sounding right at all and I'm sorry but I swear to God I didn't this is crazy was walking out the bathroom I I have no compation or a reason so you had your phone at the time so I had my phone I instantly put it in my pocket I didn't look in it or nothing so instead of me instead of me going to get a super or anything I'm telling her I will buy her items I'm like if you want me to buy your items if you really need that bad this and that she was okay with it we got back to we got to the lawn and garden or whatever so where's your money at this time when you're saying that you're going to buy something it I thought it was in my in my in my by my on the back of my phone on the back of it okay because it's just it's not so you didn't see it there now when I we walking out the lwn garden I didn't see it like at all cuz I checked my phone um she said she didn't want the item so I just to check my phone when I check my phone the money is not in the back of it or on the back on the on on the thing when I when she seen no we was walking out when she SE me walking behind she's like oh you're going to help me walk to my car cuz I can't find all I can't find my car I'm like let me help you find by this time she being nice and
