a quiet carp parking lot in Vero Beach Florida what was supposed to be a simple meeting to finalize divorce papers spiraled into a dangerous scene a woman planning to have her estranged husband signed the necessary documents found herself in a scenario far beyond a mere signature exchange the sun was hot in the parking lot as the woman in her shiny Mercedes came to meet her husband she was there to get him to sign some papers and end their marriage come here right in front front of the vehicle you driving yeah all right give me your keys come in front of the vehicle tell me what's going come on my H my husband's fault okay how was it your husband's fault yeah yeah he works right here ask him okay where's your car at right there so I don't go there it's stuck underneath the tree stay with her you what happened your H my husb right how did that happen did you try to hurt yourself and drive him to the tree on purpose no suddenly the woman got really angry and made a dangerous move she pushed her car's gas pedal down and drove straight at her husband he only had a few seconds to jump out of the way barely missing getting hit by the car instead her car slammed into a palm tree nearby making a loud crashing sound that everyone in the parking lot could hear she's over there if you want to go over there a so yall did get okay yeah I just took a quick picture of her did you see her behind the wheel uh she got in the car and tried to back up multiple times and then was asking me this gentleman to help push her car and we're like man you're stuck you got get tow truck okay so we didn't help her but we made sure that she was okay she seemed a little impaired but can you just hang out for me real quick did you see her get out of the car yeah she she her that way okay can you hang out for me real quick did you see her get out of the car mhm okay all right the crash caught everyone's attention right away people who had seen the woman acting strangely before the crash quickly called the police when officers from Indian River County got there there they saw a messy scene the Mercedes was stuck in the tree and the woman was trying to run away on foot even though she tried to run the deputies quickly caught her after a short chase you have a driver's license on you everything she's got the keys on you don't have a license plate on your car they said there wasn't one on there you have it in your purse why do you have it all so you weren't trying to hurt yourself nothing like that no not at all he he did this to me he did this to me how did he do that though he was in the car with you he was not in the car with me he was right in front of me you try to like aim at him or something and hit the tree or I'm just trying to figure out how in a desolate parking lot you hit a palm tree that's what I'm trying to figure out can you answer that they said the witnesses came up the Ary and thought on that Che to tried to hit her boyfriend and he moved and that's how she hit the tree okay when they caught her she seemed confused and might have been under the influence of something which made things more complicated Witnesses told the deputies that after the crash the woman tried several times to back her car out from under the tree she even asked people nearby to help push her car free as the details of the incident unfolded lore enforcement took her into custody everything she is ready all right may put fing your back for me interlock your fingers just so I your pray we're married but div where were you where were you at we we were right here so first I'm coming in this way and I see her and she like turns at me and like you know dead stops me and then I got to go around her and then she followed me back right here and we're sitting right here arguing she's like telling me I don't know I need to get the lawyer this and that some stupid I'm like just get your lawyer that's it we don't need to talk you don't need to see me blah blah blah and I try to take off and she fles it at me and I get right here and I just kind of act like I was going to turn this way and then I turn hard this way and she was going way too fast and just bam bonded out or gets set a bond um the judge part of her bond is no contact with you in any form the same through training order the husband was upset but not hurt he explained that their argument about the divorce had gotten very intense he's trying to leave made her react drastically during the investigation it was also discovered that she had taken off the car's license plate probably trying to avoid being held responsible for what she did it wasn't something else where they uh yeah the Marchman yeah her sister signed that and I I should have signed it too but for substance what kind of substance is she using fentanyl I think mixed with Coke and whatever else uh it's been a big problem for a long time you give me a those three people wheel Witnesses you get all their information one of them has her dad's name maybe but it's email that to you her in her dad's name I believe you guys saw what happened we saw the I got a video of her running away from2 she's in the car yes yeah I'm sorry goton all right I was I was in here working mhm and I heard this bang boom boom was M so I come out the door and that truck is on top of that tree and this the lady was in the truck she telling me to to help her get her car off the off off the tree and man this car is not the truck is not going to move you stuck she she she was likeing we know weird Okay so me and him we we backed off hey I got to get go back and you thought her get out of the car right yeah yeah sir do you have your driver's license on you I don't have a driver license but I drive pretty any can you just stand by W do a search for her all right hop on out for me you have anything on you that's going to stick me can cut me no of course not you know what you got on you you know what you got on you too I'm gonna rat I'm gonna be a rat got your you look at her first I'm the goddamn paperwork I do anything wrong all right listen to me okay I just want to divorce okay I got some questions for you okay we we'll get to the issue have the right to remain silent anything you say will used against you cor a law got a right to talk to a lawyer have a lawyer present with you while you're being questioned cannot afford to hire a lawyer won't be appointed for represent before question if deire to answer any questions now without a lawyer president you still have the right to stop answering at any time to speak with a lawyer okay is that your car it's registered to you okay and that mother right there okay can you walk me through how that vehicle ended up on top of the tree yeah I'll walk you through it okay so I was following him because he been like sped like a mother maniac and all I wanted to do is sign divorce papers and I don't know how I ended up like that you had to do you have the divorce papers with you no I just wanted toing get with my divorce attorney but you don't know how you you wound up in that position no I do know how I wind up in that position I was following him you were following him and he was going too fast yes okay and I didn't know how to drive obviously so was were you behind him or you in front of him behind him so at any point in time did you try to hit his vehicle with your vehicle no no I would never do that I just wanted to I wanted Wonder him to hear me he's terrified right now he's got weed in his pocket or in his car gar it okay so does boss you have any medication that says that you're not supposed to operate a motor vehicle no when you taking it so all the medication you're you're good to drive at that point okay as we continue our investigation don't forget drugs on him illegal drugs a minor why would you do that why cuz you didn't do anything wrong she faced charges of attempted vehicular homicide for her aggressive act in Florida this charge is considered a second deegree felony the penalties for this can be pretty severe including up to 15 years in prison 15 years on probation and a fine of $10,000 on the evening of March 20th 2022 sheriff's deputies in Florida were handling a dangerous situation on a busy street three young people had thrown debris onto the road creating a hazard for drivers while the deputies were busy keeping the kids and other drivers safe another threat quickly emerged which what's the phone what do you mean you don't know having mess up cars you don't know where you live phone number here do you have the deputies noticed that the driver seemed to be having trouble following their instructions her responses were slow and she seemed confused about the situation which raised concerns about her deputies asked for her driver's license proof of insurance and vehicle registration trying to assess the situation further however the driver struggled to find and hand over her documents this coupled with her behavior suggested that she might be under the influence of alcohol or or another substance her slow reactions and inability to follow simple instructions pointed to impairment get your driver license you approve insurance and your registration driver license prove insurance and registration get those no I don't want to hear it get those items I'm requesting what put the window down the hood of that car because you were so close to rear ending the car it's it's night time it's dark and there's a bunch of blue red and white flashing lights and you got this close to a police car going the speed you were going hey y'all didn't stay at that car okay stand where you at okay just don't stay by the car ma'am I'mma ask you one more time driver license proof insurance and registration you still haven't given me those items yet ma'am you know you were speeding I thought I I I didn't I'm like Ma so you're saying that I am no I I didn't see you speeding that's what you're telling me you almost ran into the car I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm not realizing the potential danger the deputies decided to remove the driver from her vehicle for a safer assessment as they interacted with her outside the car her actions continued to be erratic and non-compliant she argued with the deputies and seem distressed which made the situation more challenging hey come here man can't watch off come I'm not lying to a police officer you have had something in inv I did but I'm not lying no you just you you lied to me you lied to me so ma'am what I'm going to have you do is I'm and physical signs suggested otherwise remember I told you they put you I should let him take you for the night and stick you over there and see what it's like being with all those kids that don't have their parents who disobey who can't follow rules and see if that's where you want to be the whole rest of your life in your future right there so no I should I should let him take you for the me go home I'm a teacher I'm at school I'm at the freaking high school please I'm not a mess please I promise you I barely saw it and mass was like Hey this car about to hit us and uh we stopped the car she's U not she's she's not retaining anything we're telling her she's not she's not getting information we needed it took her a long time to get it uh she she appears to be impaired and she's she's all over the place she start screaming and stuff so that's why we got another person I just want to go home I'm going to continue what I was asking okay I just want to go ma'am ma'am can you focus for a second just for a second I I have no Focus problem okay okay go you have two drinks of vodka correct go I'm talking to you now you had two drinks of vodka mixed drink correct yeah two your wheel of your car and you drove right I again please ma'am I'm asking you a question home I'm a teacher I work at the high school let me go home I didn't do a bad thing I'm telling you I the situation escalated as the driver refused to perform sobriety tests her refusal along with her initial Reckless approach and failure to comply with lawful orders led the deputies to place her under arrest they cited her for resisting arrest and suspected driving Under the Influence noting her impaired coordination and the smell of alcohol all right man' right now I don't believe that you have the capability of driving a motor vehicle on the roadway oh my God would you like to perform some exercises no I wouldn't okay so I got nothing to prove for you all right so I'm going to let you know right now if you deny doing these exercises you could be placed under arrest and they can go against criminal I know so I'm let you know if you refuse to do the exercises you can be placed all right man when you're done talking I'll talk pleas let me go ma'am when you're done when you're done talking I'll talk for you let me go God we're past that yeah we're really past that oh my God ma'am I'm going to ask you one more time my God I'm going to encourage that you do the exercises to either disprove or prove that you are intoxicated or not I am not intoxicated I swear to God I just want to go home with my child do you want to do the exercises or not what what do you want me to do you're going to perform exercises my God if you don't want to do it that's fine I'm not going to force you to
