on September 12th 2024 in Palm Coast Florida a man and his wife were sitting in their backyard when the woman noticed someone creeping through the nearby trees the couple yelled at the prowler who fled the scene concerned for his family's safety the man decided to keep watch from his back porch the next evening September 13th while on the porch the man saw the same individual walk through the backyard and approach his 14-year-old daughter's bedroom window the prowler moved around the corner of the house and began peering through the window acting quickly the father grabbed a bat swung at the man and chased him away after a brief Pursuit he lost sight of the suspect and immediately called the Flagler County Sheriff's Office here a dad but it's a question I'm going to ask how old is your daughter she's 14 she just went into high school this kid at best is maybe a senior in I mean so just we see this a lot yeah do you think I don't think it's someone she knows that suspect that6 gave a restriction was he trying to get into the RP home or what the issue was negative I'm getting to the bottom of it now it was just uh seems more LMP than anything did you copy the address that I said right in front of it um I don't think it's a person I think it's someone in the neighborhood she doesn't she doesn't go to public school she goes to a private school she's got no friends around here she's an indoor kid so even if it is another kid that's watching her either way it's not someone that she knows or has any kind of person she doesn't know anyone in this neighborhood I mean she doesn't go out by herself she's got friends in Flagler Beach and we drive her there and pick her up whoever this kid is is not someone that she's associated with um and honestly that I've never seen before which is kind of concerning because he's too young to be from somewhere far away and to be traveling just to come to my house if you saw a picture of him would you know him I would know him I I mean I've been chasing him for yeah I didn't know 15 minutes yeah I mean I I saw him enough to where if you got me in a lineup I I guarantee you I could I'm so pumped up right now I'm sorry all right let's um let's get you home yeah I'm right around the corner hop in the car and I'll take you home thank you I don't even think my wife knows what's going on cuz I turned my ringer off and just took off running I never had time to tell her uh just in the back you want to take this just protocol or some [ __ ] I don't know right back to Res Deputy searched a nearby construction site to ensure the suspect wasn't hiding there anyone inside make yourself known got a room to the right we don't have any drywall up yet so yeah me push me push keep coming check up clear yeah clear that for that space behind right here clear clear make sure you look up too [Music] okay huh where's the last uh probably over by Finn but this we're just checking this cuz I guess they ran through here um wait for Schmid to come back out and Yeah meanwhile the father provided a written statement to deputies and reviewed a photo lineup in an attempt to identify the suspect yeah but I want to catch this guy all right we're going to skip that line for now just raise your right hand for me y state your name date of birth today's date today's date is 9:30 13 24 do you swear or affirm that it's your decision to press charges at this time yes sir sign here now give me one second I got to fill out some stuff y y hey how's it going I've been better yeah yeah my name is Deputy Losi um I'm here to do a photo lineup with you okay um so I'm just going to go ahead and read you the directions all right um shine a light for him L and do not flip to the next page just leave the pages as they are so there's another page of pictures don't worry about that okay now if he was heavier set I'd say it was this guy but i' he looks almost skinnier in the face than him so I'm going to go with I don't think I see him in this line up here and he's he's close it was dark but I feel like he had a wider a a wider face so I I don't think I see him in that lineup unless he's gained significant weight since that picture was taken you able to see it rightly enough and everything I I think so and he even almost looks a little bit older uh the the one more looked like like a kid um he doesn't necessarily look old but he looks older than the kid that I saw he looked more like 17 18 tops he looks like maybe mid mid 20 so I don't think that's him but if the suspect gained significant weight since whenever that picture was taken it could potentially be him weight can make you look a little younger so um I'm going to say it might be six but I'm leaning towards that it's he's not in that lineup he's not any of the other five I don't think um this one here he matches the the Youth of him but his his face doesn't look right okay just take time yeah you take your time if you want me to turn the flashlight on it anyone certain just let me know these three are all too old they're definitely got him his eyes are nowhere near right he's got very distinct eyes and that was not him I still want to go with it's not any of these things so you see any able to make a determination at this time he's close he's close but I don't I hate to go after for the wrong guy because someone looks similar um I I I don't think it's him I don't think that I don't think he's in that okay that's fine um all right feel like that was a disappointing outcome for you guys but I don't I'm not disappointed nor excited jobs are the same either way I got you P byy the hour just like the rest of us you got a sign and date y deputies also checked with neighbors for surveillance footage and the neighbors revealed that that they had also been victims of a similar incident hello hey get out of me oh I'm sorry uh my name is Deputy Losi we're with the sheriff's office um there's an incident that happened over there uh to your neighbor's house and we were just wondering if you your camera possibly caught footage of it um I can check what happened uh they're just we're just looking for someone well we called earlier this week about someone who posted on Facebook and and he lives in this house right here and he's been coming and knocking on our window and we've seen other people post him before I've seen him on his bike I don't know if it's BN in the same but um it's like 88 maybe like right around there what call tonight yeah no we got home like right at that time 8:31 that's us pulling in the cops hold the cops anything before that no I think it said like five 510 when you guys were coming back up did you see anyone like walking through like the roadway or in the area no did you guys remember I was conscious of that too cuz we've seen him before well yeah there's a certain Guy the one we're talking about wouldn't be Liv over here back that way yeah there's a guy who's always creeping through our side of the house is he like what what does the guy look like um he's probably like mixed right or tan bald or short hair he's got like a bow in his legs basketball shorts like nylon shorts t-shirt you see him walking a dog no no what's his weight like he's probably got close to 200 lb got a belly at least he's not like scrawny yeah I we can pull him up can't we I called the deputy last week cuz they put you guys the sheriff office posting it on Facebook mhm pull it up I pulled it up on I let him know like hey you know this guy has knocked on our window before and [ __ ] and he's creeps around the neighborhood and that's the same guy [Applause] [Music] all the way down has has a deputy already gotten this yeah yeah they're the ones that posted this yeah that's the same guy that's going but we got footage of him before but it was before we had um where it would save it on the ring mhm but he's come by here at least three times in the last two months yeah you guys have a good night too based on prior incidents deputies suspected a local man who matched the description a black male with a slight lisp who frequently walked the area with a small dog and lived one block away hi how's everything is Devon thereon what's his first name who are you looking for Mr Smith how you pronounce his first name Damon what's going on how's everything definitely started with flight County Sheriff's Office do you mind talking with us sure where were you tonight I was out walking out walking what time approximately an hour ago an hour ago so 9:30 or earlier than that was like before way before that what time you think like 8 or 9 8 or 9 and do you know where about that you walk to it was around the blck around the blck gotcha and did you do anything did you go anywhere no but I was I ran around you ran around the block do you normally run around the block you do the other day sometime i r i I run and sometime I walk any particular reason why you running I was running you and my mom was standing right there she was she should tell you I was I went running and then um like I said I went walk I roll around the block running and and then that was pretty much it and I always come back home were you around somebody's house you mind if we check the front see if you have any marks on the [Music] front said I'm not hurt so is there anything else you want to tell me yeah well no not really I just went running and then that was pretty much it was anybody chasing you yeah yes yeah who's chasing you some guy I some guy why was he chasing you he said something about I guess by his window I don't know were you looking inside of his window no to be honest with you no so if we have video of You by the window what would explain it I was not by the you at somebody's window tonight or not I wasn't like to be honest yes but I wasn't like you know all you know being those so you were on somebody's property it was it was I I wouldn't say it there properly but it was like a big old um Gap so you were in between two houses right of somebody's house yes you're by somebody's window yes I was maybe like from from where he's at to here okay that's like did you do anything did you break anything or what were you doing I don't damage people proper you don't damage people stupid so what what do you just normally do I just run like I said I just run and then pretty much just R cuz like I said I like to run um time like tonight I was I was running like I I'm not a liar and then I was really taking a shortcut that's how the guy end up seeing me be honest with you why didn't you tell me all this before Sor like I said I get real nervous this like my first time getting you know talking to you guys well it's not your first time I talked to you just two days ago I'm talking about in the situation but yeah so tonight around 8 to 9:00 you're walking around the neighborhood okay just run it through one more time that yeah and then that's when I end up running through the grass and running to the grass and end up on the property and then somehow I don't know what he told you but I didn't like I said I didn't dance on the F mm I just ran gotcha so that was did did you get into an altercation with him at all where you guys wrestling or nothing did he hit you with anything he tried but he didn't he didn't hit me what he trying to hit you with it looked like a he said I guess he was trying to scare me or whatever hit me in the head but he didn't got it's like a Flinch gotta like I said I'm I'm I'm harmless I don't hurt anybody I'm a nice person if you want can we continue the conversation outside it's hot in here I'm sweating let's just go out in front Haven status check all right so just like the other day I got to read you something just because we're talking all right you have the right to remain silent anything you say may be used as evidence against you have the right to talk to an attorney have him or her with you running and that's when he tried threaten he tried threatening you yeah what'd he say he um said he's trying to hit me in the head with back mhm and then um that was pretty much it and then that's he end up calling you guys did he swinging at you or he just had it he he swung at you but he missed but he missed he missed gotcha and then what did you do from there like did you stay there no I just kept running so you ran I ran yeah so which way did you run I ran went from that street right there I don't know the name yeah that one over there he just kept following me gotcha he was he was um kept following me like I literally tried to Breaking this house but I wasn't but he just kept following and following told him leave me alone mhm like I said I didn't damage his property I ain't touch nothing I just ran gotcha so you're running all around the neighborhood do you know what streets or anything like that I don't I mean I know the street but I don't know by did you go through any other yards or houses or it was just like a shortcut cuz it's closest to this street so that was it gotcha and you you stated before that you fell mhm that's why your your shoes were dirty yeah okay so where where about did you fall and I ran in mud you ran in the mud yeah it was right there where you guys are Park that gotcha so when you're on the property Tak a shortcut what was the reason he wanted to go after you I don't know like I said he thought I was trying to look through his his you know window cuz I was like close I like I said I was running pretend the van window is his window how close were you right here like you're standing where you are now or you were standing there like some maybe like right here from where you are okay and this was the and then like I I was getting tired and I stopped and I guess he thought I was looking through the mirror cuz I was doing like this you know how you get real tired and just lean down like that yeah that's what I was doing and he thought I was looking through was anyone in the bedroom when you're I don't know ibody didn't see I didn't even look over there I got you I me it's not my business why would I looking you know mhm have you ever taken that one as a shortcut before or no first time there some and I like to take shortcuts home when I run you realize people don't like you on their property not you in general just they don't like strangers going on their property cuz if you get hurt on their property they're responsible for it so I mean if you're going to take shortcuts you can't be taking it through people's yards um but where did you take a shortcut yesterday the day before yeah last night to be honest I don't I don't remember I take shortcuts from time to time into these different areas so I appreciate you being honest with me last night about roughly the same time frame did you go in anybody's property or anything like that be honest with me most of the time most of the time I I'm not going to lie I do run through yards M and then other than that I you know work my way back onto the road like I said I just run just to run I want you to be honest with me so were you at that house last night too just be honest no I was not on that house I was out a different I was in a different yard last night you were at a different yard and then I end up what what did that yard look like it had like bunch of trees on the ground but it it was on the other side of the that District but it was around the right around the corner mhm what's the purpose of looking in people's windows what are you what are you trying to accomplish I just want to understand why and if you can help me understand why I can better understand all the encounters that I've had with you and then why you're doing it just what what's the purpose of it I just I look around I tell you my around my Sur because I don't want nobody thinking I'm doing something that I'm not just be honest like what what's the purpose I mean this isn't the first time that we've dealt and you just told me that almost every night you take shortcuts so you probably no no that's every once in a while I don't do it every night it's definitely more than a once occasion what what what's the purpose behind it why why are you doing it there's no purpose I are you trying to just look inside get a view I mean I'm not going to sh or anything I just I'm just trying to understand no I just I just do it well yeah I just do it but like I said I just do it and I keep moving do you like watching people is it like a people watching thing no I'm not a stalker I I didn't say stalking some people some people just like to watch people I'm not saying I I'm not saying that's what you're doing I'm just trying to understand if that's what you are doing cuz some people do they just like to watch people people watching some people they like to look into people's windows while people are changing or anything like [Music] that like sometimes I like to stalking of a person under 16 he was transported to the sheriff Perry Hall inmate detention facility and held on an $86,000 Bond and then scoot straight back and you can put your feet feet on the chair feet on the chair feet on the chair it's going to be a lot more comfortable yep scoot all the way to the other side okay I know 22 everyone else and this little pocket is good to rest your hand so you're not putting the weight on how's the temperature back there it's fine a little air yeah and this is more comfortable for you it is all right user questions I always have to ask everybody so you you are aware do you have anything in you on you or near you that's considered contraband to an inmate facility that I didn't find on you Alcohol Tobacco Firearms knives matches Riders baap products tobacco products I don't smoke I'm so I have to ask every and if they do find it anything that's considered contraband it's a extra felony charge okay all right Tank TI we'll be there soon
