on January 15th 2022 Roswell Police Officers responded to a report of shoplifting at a local Walmart upon arrival a woman immediately confessed to the crime the officers noticed bruising under the woman's left eye and learned that her 2-year-old daughter was Ill at home the woman explained that she was facing personal challenges and that this was her first offense hello hi what's going on stop shop liting K [Music] Crutchfield all [Applause] righty the you said undering who was it that saw her I you did okay is there a way that we can close this door I just have a very the Bree is is it that or you don't want people to see you CU you're here okay that too all right it's embarrassing but I but it wasn't is get cold out so what what's the deal what happened I honestly took what I wasn't mind and I just scanned and I shouldn't have and I should have paid for it all to be very honest there's no okay all right all right we appreciate the honestly you're the first one to be honest about it I mean it's all it's all in video it's F that really any reason as to why I just couldn't afford it a mon stamps at the moment and it's just been like really tough I have a sick daughter this isn't going to help your situation at all I know my daughter is actually home right now with a awful fever and I've put her babysitter and it's just been like awful like we've just been going through a very tough time how old is your daughter she's two she's two okay so just not going to yeah just been a tough time for us and I was just trying to make her feel better honestly but look at me real quick okay we'll we'll have a conversation after this do you have a history of this have you been got charged with this before okay I'll let you run her and this is the okay I offered to pay for the stuff but I so look Kai I understand your situation where you're coming from this isn't going to help your situation at all okay now he's going to make sure that you don't have a history of this so no charge I don't know what that means okay State charge goes on your record city ordinance does not okay so you'll go to City Court City will do something I don't know what they're going to do whether it be like community service or something like that you're not going to jail the woman became agitated and accused a Walmart employee of lying about calling the police the officers intervened to deescalate the situation you literally told me Tim that you didn't call the police like so Poli you told her I get it it's a job but it's just a conversation of I even wouldn't happen and I spoke talk about it look we're we're beyond that okay obviously they have a job to do okay you still Comm CRI okay and I'm aware of that I'm fully aware of that it's just the communication has been completely clear up until this point so that's my only issue that I'm having you know I hate it for you no it's fine like I said understand your situation but you know better yeah and you got caught and now you got to face the consequences right so look like I was saying it's not a state charge it's a city ordinance which means it's not going on your record okay problem is now you you have an established waiting instead of me having to waste my money on an Uber that sat outside for literally 15 minutes and now you're telling like and now you're here like this is what's my problem like instead of that I would have cancel it like it's just I don't like when people like if you're going to be honest I'm already in a situation I told you the truth like I don't understand why you telling me that I'm waiting for a manager that literally never showed up and now you guys are here that's my issue like and I feel like I have the right to be upset because I'm being lied to about something when I've been completely honest up until this point like until this point I'm Still Honest like you I knew that I did something wrong like that's what I don't understand why not just be freaking honest if your guys are going to come then fine I can let my babysitter know who I'm literally trying to get home to so I can go to the hospital to take my daughter annoying now I have to go to court and spend extra money that I literally don't have like this is very aggravating like what time is the babysitter supposed to leave they were been supposed to go okay I'm try to do this as quickly as possible so we can get you out of here what was the uh what was the total total was total cost is $ 5159 total items are 11 there you go and you also lied about that because you said it was $49 well no no no he's correct about that cuz there's a different but we list total cost Al together so that's with taxes included and [Music] everything okay so just what I need you to do is write on this x here just need you to sign you were advised your court date 1300 hours that's 1:00 in the afternoon um just make sure that you show up to that if you don't show up to that there a warrant could be issued for your arrest okay that's all that is like you about kind of way I already explained to you it's just a city traffic Char or a city charge it's even less than a traffic charge okay I get that this is unfortunate situation um but Walmart they they have their own set of standards that they need to uphold and we just kind of show up and and if they want to press charges we have to do what we have to do okay she was issued a city charge for disorderly conduct all right that's going to be your copy the officer offered information about local shelters and resources for women dealing with difficult situations and potential abuse you want to um you want to come talk to me about that what's up you do you're okay or you do want to talk to me yeah I'm okay right are you sure yeah okay because there are things that you can do okay yeah and that's you know it's there I can see it okay well as far as that goes look I'm going to tell you this there are things that you can do there are shelters for women and they'll take in kids too with you okay I don't know who did it I don't know if it was family I don't know if it was ex lover current lover whatever but there are resources out there for that okay and there are certain things that you can do like if you ever wanted to file a report wherever it happened you can file a report there and then you can take that report to a Magistrate Judge and magistrate court and start the process for a temporary protection order okay all right hey KY look at me look at me I know it's hard I know it's hard hey but there are things you can do there are resources on there for you all right and the quicker you can get out of whatever situation the better life will get for you you're going to you're going to have to bust your hump for it but you want to try to get out of that okay let's let's try to get out of doing this kind of stuff cuz this isn't going to help you at all it's going to make things more difficult than they already are you're need to do that especially with a SI two-y old okay let's get you out of here license and you're also you're not being trespassed from the property you just have to wait 24 hours before you can come back okay okay have to com oh the Longhorns I worked at was actually next door it MH it's been really slow yeah for months so yeah Co has my thing was pretty crappy okay you good collect yourself can I ask on no you're not going to jail or anything it's you just if you wanted to wait in there instead of in here or out in the cold we don't mind 8 minutes isn't that long of a Time refusing to make any
