on September 28th 2024 the Flagler County Sheriff's Office fcso received several calls about a group of juveniles causing a disturbance inside Walmart Witnesses reported that the kids were riding bikes around the store cursing and yelling at people and setting off car alarms in the parking lot deputies quickly located The Group of Seven juveniles all under the age of 16 offic Hey sir how old are you guys 14 everyone's 14 yeah nice we weren't even doing anything we were just up down the sidewalk there was no cars or anything all right well you're just crossing the street that's not a crosswalk all you guys look under 16 so that's why I'm stopping out with you I just got here I one of them said somebody called the cops and I was like bro I he called you guys we'll figure it outus tag tety 215 on teletype you guys do we didn't do anything we went we're right there Andre told me you guys were over here so I just headed over here the guys we7 seven juveniles on bikes front of golden chop all right here's the deal technically these are all violations all right so I'm going to need your names date of births all that other stuff are you I don't know yet huh I don't know yet just cooperate with all right just the parents info for everybody parents info for you got parents info or you new miles [Music] miles I've never been in trouble don't I didn't to go back to my house that's where me and I mean there a first time for everything is there yeah but I've never been in trouble I was just going home okay so where were you guys before this we were over there by Lowe's we literally we went to Zach be we got food came over here cuz they were over here and we were right there we were sitting under there for a little bit riding around not causing any harm at all we W sitting under the covering we weren't screaming we weren't swerving cars we weren't in the way we were being respectful to everybody I like everybody that tried to go we let them go and then we came back up and then we came back over here cuz me and him were heading home we live on the other side of town me and him heading home and that's when we were we got stop they were going home too we were going back okay so I got multiple calls about you guys from who that's none of your business multiple about us about me correct so I'm going to give you guys listen be honest D just be honest exactly what you did honesty is the best policy if you're not honest with me that's when things get worse so be honest what were you guys doing we just told you why are we okay so basically we got done with Z we were just eating what happened at Z we were just eating that's all what happened in the parking lot nothing happened in the parking lot I we just pulled up did a couple little little little ass right we were sitting there like all right we're done get a couple little went around here and that's all we just were you setting off car alarms in the parking lot no we were not that silver car alarm was going off for like 20 minutes we went inside and said in Zach's p and said someone's car is going off outside no one came out I went back inside I said someone's blue car alarm is going up blue or silver was right there though I heard it you we weren there me and him had just pulled up like you can literally go check the cameras we not doing nothing to no cars we sitting in the parking lot right here me and him just pulled up as soon as I got we didn't do anything wrong do you know the laws they can take B do you know the laws yeah what's the statute you know what I can and can do that's very I was saying you can't the bik what's it can't the bike you I've never been in trouble like I said first time for everything your listen are you guys I'm going to be frank with you guys kids you can only control yours you can't control a motorist okay so that's the whole point of this H can you ride at home because I've got pulled over at home before and they said I can't ride at home it's a part listen if you're on the if you're on the sidewalk riding on the sidewalk you're abiding by the laws you're wearing a helmets all that stuff there's listen you guys are old enough now all right to to know what you should and shouldn't be doing if you're riding a bicycle you should know what you're legally ref ired to have on your bicycle or your person to ride around all right you're coming to the age where consequences are going to become something that you can't Overlook all right for little kids it's okay little kids they don't understand consequences they don't know what they're required to do listen you guys are all old enough you could read you could use your Google you could make decisions and all that stuff you guys are going to be working soon you'll be going to college soon you may think it's a long way away but trust me you guys are right there you'll be driving cars you'll be voting you'll be doing all that stuff relatively soon you guys got to start making good decisions for yourself can you write us a warning that's like I'm I'm going to be looking up all the information and making my decision from there you all might get tickets you all concerning statements so at this time he has been placed under law enforcement sacer as of a couple minutes ago well you are more than I'm sorry can you repeat that we are on our way and you were going to release him to us when we get there that's not the way it works um I'm I bring my will I'm sorry I don't understand what the circumstances are that you can when your son tells law enforcement that he's going to kill himself and shoot himself we plac him under it's Jonathan right Jonathan do we need to be concerned for your welfare [Music] it is a non-criminal thing it's a Law Enforcement baser Act it's where he goes to speak to a mental health professional for evaluation that if you wouldn't have talked to him and harassed him and pressured him he never would have said any of that the being Baker yeah so Malachi said he's going to shoot himself and he wants to kill himself so obviously we have a duty to act and we can't just let that slide so he's being Baker acted but how do you know he means that you have we can't we can't deduce whether or not he means it we have to go we have to make a good faith judgment okay so release him back to he going to be bakera acted where it's it's safe it's safe at the hospital it is not I cannot I cannot in good conscience release to you and risk him hurting himself later I can't do it they can't put my job on the line so he's going to so I can follow him to the hospital can okay and they can release him from there after that once I turn over to the hospital whatever their criteria is I don't know what they what their uh their uh policy is their procedure after they do their thing do whatever you want I don't care what is your policy that we have to a duty to act if someone is a danger to themselves I understand okay so what do you do from there you you just take him to the hospital he's going to Halifax which one and Daytona and Daytona really that's the only Baker Act receiving facility in the area okay and that's where
