A pet owner's worst nightmare came alive when one evening his dog [music] was suddenly shot and killed in his own neighborhood. My neighbor came up with some video and it's it's not blatantly compelling but it's uh it's it's the the the this the neighbor two doors north and one more they got to know what's going on because the kids are uh out in the street and So you're thinking two houses >> Yeah. I I don't I don't want to say that but that's just what the video pretty much She's just a a little puppy and then there's the there's the wound that we we we found. >> torso? Where is that on the dog? On her it's uh right on her left shoulder. Okay. No issues with I mean she's she's a little escape artist but she's a puppy. Yeah. She's a year she's 14 months old and she's been with me all day. I've been pressure washing stuff in my in my yard in my back on my boat and all and my building in the back and my neighbor Steve next door he's he jumped over the top of the fence and he's screaming at me over the pressure washer. >> Mhm. Yeah, he was hey come here come here come here. So I shut the pressure washer off and he says I he said Diamond's dead. I'm like what? Did she get hit by a car? Cuz sometimes she will she'll jump she'll jump this fence and go out and but everybody knows her and puts her right back in Yeah. for me. I went over there and to look at her and try and figure out if there was any trauma or anything and then when I pick and pick her up I got some blood on my hand so I started searching where the where the where the blood came from and it was it was that. And I mean he's kept my daughter from getting out of the car. Mhm. And he's chased my 6-year-old. And I asked the neighbors I said does anybody know who this dog belongs to? Cuz I was going to call animal control cuz they call on me all the time. Mhm. So How does your dog get out? My dog roams all the time. He will not stay in the yard. Have been fined all right. $175 for Ooh. But haven't heard anything or seen anything. >> No ma'am. Okay. And I went I stepped out my enclosed pool and I'm like drop my shoe and he started growling at me and I went back in the house. Yeah. And that's when I asked the neighbor across the street I said do you know and he's like no I've never seen the dog before. The way her expression shifted when she realized whose dog it was clearly indicated that she knows more than she is claiming to. And you said you guys didn't hear anything or see anything. I didn't see anything. Nothing at all. Didn't hear a gunshot or the dog yelping or >> gunshots out here all the time. The guy across the street has a shooting range behind his house. Well you didn't hear I guess what I'm trying to ask is you didn't hear the dog yelping at all or see where it came from. No. It just came It ran from over here. That's the only thing. They have this neighbor has cameras. It ran from over here like at the end of my road or at the end of the driveway. Cuz he I know he's camera. They're like woah. Yeah we're just trying to pinpoint like where the the dog may have came from so we got to go come talk to I mean he may have been at the end of the driveway today and we didn't see him but I know I mean Steve's camera covers my driveway. No. that's not he he made a We've only been here like 5 and 1/2 years and he told us when we moved in given his profession he just does not socialize with the neighbors you know. Yeah it was just peculiar because you know like you have a dog that's out loose all the time and Yeah. Any issues with neighbors complaining like at least on this road or in this area one of these houses complaining about the dogs at all? >> No we all just asked where it came from because it just like just it just showed up and it doesn't bite me in the morning. See she and I leave for school and I go to the door every morning in that truck and it tries to bite me. Did you see it today? It would growl at you and it wouldn't let her out of the car. And he eats our trash. Did you see the dog >> And that's why another reason why I didn't believe We didn't see it today. Yeah. I see a lot in the mornings when I leave See I don't I leave about 7:00 and I I don't see him in the morning at 7:00 in the morning. I've never seen him. It's probably in the It's usually I get home usually 3:00 3:30 and that's when I usually I go to some practice around like 8:30 9:00 it's out here. So then most of Dennis's dogs don't roam. Is it Dennis's dog? Yeah they said it was Dennis's dog. I mean they never Yeah he was a he was pressure washing and and the dog jumped over the fence. And we're like yes it is. And they're like oh. Oh that's the old moment. Mhm. And then even the daughter when she came out she was like that's Dennis's dog? Like no clue what we were talking about nothing. Yeah. So they know something more than what they're telling us. Um so we're going to have to follow up with it. And she she loved to mention that I guess she got a citation for me the other day, too. And I was like, "What does that have to do with anything?" >> I don't even know them. Yeah. Officers followed up with the female within 48 hours, hoping to talk to her daughter and get some clarity on the bizarre incident, but the female couldn't believe a dog's life was worth so much trouble. Okay, I'm not saying that they do. I'm saying they saw or heard something and I need to know what they saw or heard. And if they know who and why they shot the dog. Within 20 minutes of this interaction, an unexpected visitor made their way to the officers with crucial information pertaining to the case. I just saw the last part. One shot. Shot it. No tags, no collar, so it came at me. Then my kids didn't know I killed it. I shot the dog. Do you know what you shot it with? I mean, you can write it. I just want to make sure I write it right. Do you still have that? Can I see it? Oh, it's in there. Okay. Can you show me where you were at when you when this happened? Where were you where you were at? Next to when you shot it. Where were you standing, I guess? You said it had came at me back here. So, where you where were you standing when it came at you? Right here? Facing this way? Okay, and where was the dog at?
