She's smacking him. >> She's dead. What? Excuse me. Can you repeat that? Last time. >> Grabbing his face, smacking him in his face. The food in the home is slowly being expired because the refrigerator is broken. >> Um, there are >> cockroaches on the home has a roach infestation. >> Y'all need to stop picking people's y'all need to stop taking people's kids. >> Every now and then, cops come across all sorts of things on the job. And in worst case scenarios, they stumble upon [music] something so disturbing it goes way beyond anything they've ever imagined. So what really happens when officers make these [music] chilling discoveries while just doing their job? >> What is that smell that's in the house? Because it smells like feces. It smells like crap. Like it smells like that urine and all kind like dirty trash. >> Okay. And they eat like animals. They eat like animals. And you got to buy food every day. That's why she went to Walmart. with you. >> Okay, then they don't have to talk at all. Simple as that. >> You can go back and help. >> Here are several moments when cops have discovered truly disturbing things on the job. Starting off with when a Vermont cop found an 8-year-old trapped inside a frozen lake. Keith, she's making noises. >> On December the 17th, 2023, a Vermont State Police officer, Michelle Archer, received a 911 call reporting that an 8-year-old girl mistakenly fell into a frozen lake while [music] she was playing with her brother outside their home. She immediately sprang into action like a fire engine at the sound of a siren. But little did she know that she was [music] just about to cross the line where fear ends and legends begin. >> Say again. Yeah. Yeah. After successfully [music] getting the child out of the water, she suddenly realized she had only climbed one mountain and there was a taller one still looming. ahead. >> Call rescue. Where's she over there? >> Keith, she's making noises. >> She's making noise. >> Can you grab grab an arm? Let's bring her closer. Let's bring her closer. Let's go get out. Come here, baby. Come here, baby. Come here, baby. Come here, baby. Set her down. Set her down. [clears throat] Right here. Come here, baby. Come here, baby girl. Come here, baby girl. Michelle, get out of your clothes. Come here, baby. Here you go. Bring him right over. >> Can you bring him over? >> Come here, baby. >> Yeah. Grab him. >> Come on. >> How's the other one? >> She's cold. >> She is she alert? >> Yeah. Yeah. She's walking around. Okay. >> She walked over to the house. >> Okay. >> When did you find him? >> Yeah. >> I'm sure. >> Just right when you fell. >> Yeah. >> While she was still trying to get some details from the child's guardian, the other officer was already rushing the little one to the hospital. She went on to make a full recovery. Finding a frozen little human trapped inside a frozen lake is deeply disturbing, but so is discovering a child living in the most deplorable condition possible. Smacking him. What? Excuse me. Can you repeat that last? >> Grabbing his face. Smacking him in his face. The food in the home is being expired because the refrigerator is broken. >> Screaming. Screaming at the baby. >> No. At the baby. >> Screaming at the baby. >> Okay. arrest. [screaming] >> On January the 24th, [music] 2023, the cops responded to a residence after receiving a call from a welfare officer reporting the horrible living conditions of a child. When they arrived, they [music] started talking to the welfare officers without knowing they're at the verge of uncovering a truth that would turn their stomachs. >> Got this case here. I called you because um one year in the home, father who's in the home, he can register um offender, he's not registered to this address. He can register to uh place in Delwood. I have that um a copy of that here on my phone. >> Did you guys let our unit know? >> I don't know if my um brains if they called or not. >> That's normally the first thing we do. >> Okay. >> Husky's out and about right now. >> I know. That's what I was thinking. Having him in route maybe. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. the landlord. He preferred that the guy he does live here with >> and he's not biological dad. >> I think he is the biological father. Yeah. >> You got a name, date of birth for him. >> Yeah. Name is Ramon. R A M I N. >> My brain got flustered >> as soon as you mentioned the sex part of it. >> Can you just rewind? I apologize. So you guys are here cuz they moved in and he's >> No. Well, he's been they've been in the home. Um but in our allegations it's stating that he's you know dad is sex offender. So my um brain they looked it up and he is registered and not registered here. Got it >> to address wood and I can provide that to you as well. >> Um this is his information here. >> What's the allegation? >> Allegation is pretty much stating the home is um deployable for the child. Brilliant cockroaches in the home for the child living environment right now. So nothing to do with him per se or >> Well, it has him on here stating that he went to prison for 13 years. He's a family in the home. >> Just a photo, but nothing him with a child right now. >> Nothing too much. Just the living environment of the child. >> I mean, we might be able to squash two bricks and one stone >> with him purpose. >> Yeah. Nothing. That was pretty much it. >> Um, do we know how long he's been in here? >> From landlord, he's saying that he's been knowing him for years and that's why they got this apartment here. because landlord is here being very disrespectful probably cuz they're harboring. >> Yeah. >> Pretty so pretty much the allegations are living conditions. >> Yeah. >> But he's obviously present. So >> hello. >> Hi. >> So my landlord that rents the house [music] just informed me that you guys were here. So I'm trying to find out why you guys are here. >> We'll let you know. Go up there. We're we're talking with them. Yeah. per case. >> No. >> Okay. Just so you know, DCF has been here a couple months back. >> Okay. >> And we did have an issue and I can show you on the phone. We're the first call to make threats. >> Mhm. >> Not the first time stuff like this, but just to let you know. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> So, told me to call the office. The office basically said to just write up the report as is and he'll go ahead and come out here and start start interviewing people. just notated on our end with the DCF intake >> to verify that yeah, he actually does live here. He's gonna have to just come out here, interview the family, interview neighbors. >> We'll just then at that point, we'll just do your own investigation and we'll just dictate it separately. >> Jasmine gone locally. Yes. >> Okay. And your daughter? All right. Is she here as well? >> Yes, she's the baby. >> Okay. Can you have her stuff out so I can address everything? >> Yes. Um bring the baby up. >> Okay. >> So, I have a question. What's the purpose of bringing four cops in? The last time it was only a DCF. >> I mean, it's up to my discretion. >> So, you discretion? >> Yeah. If I choose, see if I can give them a call. [music] >> So, what were you guys doing yesterday when all that chaos happened? Uh, not far from here. >> Working yet? >> Yeah. You guys find the kids? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I got an Amber Alert when I was at work. I looked at the names that were on there. It said Williams and Williams and Williams. I said, "Oh, well, looks like mom might have picked up the kids." In the case of this, I was right. Apparently DCF had put them in foster care and for whatever reason the mommy decided she wanted to go take them and pick them up. >> Hi Jasmine. >> Hi. >> So we received some new allegations with regards to the home environment and everything that's going on and I'll pretty much freely read what the allegations are stating um stating in the face screaming in his face. Um he was running around she's smacking him. >> She did what? Excuse me. Can you repeat that last? >> Grabbing his face, smacking him in his face. The food in the home is mold and expired because the refrigerator is broken. Um, there are cockroaches on the home because a roach infestation, stating that there are cats in the home, turtles, stating that the turtle tank was spilled over over on the stove. >> While the welfare officer was still [music] listing the couple's offenses, the male suspect suddenly pulled a desperate stunt in an attempt to save them from the consequences he clearly saw coming. um saying that you're a sex offender and was accused of touching and you went to jail for 13 years. >> You know, I was accused of something else completely different. That is a lie. >> Okay. >> But I know who made these allegations already. I already know who made >> them. >> And you'll find out why she's upset with us in a minute to explain it to you. And she had text messages to prove it. Go ahead. Keep going. >> Saying keeps the investigators out of the home registered. >> How do I keep investigators out of my house? I would like us to come into the home. >> No, she came into the house. She looked around, took pictures and everything. >> Yeah, she did. >> And the pictures were >> Do you have the lady's number still? Do you have her card? >> Could you go get it, please? >> She'll explain a lot of this madness, too. >> Also, the pregnant and being kicked out of their studio. Um, >> say that again. You all are getting kicked out of the studio here. >> Uh, no. >> Um, >> we're finding ourselves a new home because I want to get a place where I will be together. as >> a family, a big house. We got a baby and we got another baby coming along. So, yeah, we're in the process of finding another place. >> Okay, >> but that is complete lie. She's not kicking kicked anywhere. >> And what about the baby going to the doctor's appointments? Because statement doctor has said that he's got more. >> He's been going to the doctor. He hasn't been back to his appointment, but she gives us some pediat. I think he's there now. >> Okay. Is he up to date on his vaccination? >> He has not been vaccinated. No, >> we are not getting we choose not to get him vaccinated for religious purposes. >> Okay. Who's the pediatrician? He is Dr. Muhammad Absul. He's over in Leburg. Very nice. >> Okay. What's the name of the friend? >> Um I don't remember the exact one. I have a paperwork for you. >> So you're saying that these allegations are false? All of them are false. >> Oh, absolutely. Does not cuss out. He does have a word he picked up. We think he hear him say it, but he does not get yelled at. Mr. Words is what she says. She says words and that's it. She doesn't scream at his face and hit him. That's a lie. >> The refrigerator. >> Now, that is partial truth. The fridge is partially going out. I don't know what it is, >> but the freezer side works. The fridge side is kind of working. >> So, I have to go and clean out the coils tonight and see if that's what it is. It's staying a little cool, but it's not staying cold enough. >> But everything there's my food in my house. I got to clean this >> and it's not No, it's not mold. You can go look for yourself. >> There's no more. >> You can go look tonight if you want to go up there. >> You know what we finish here. What about the roaches? >> There is a small roach problem and I've already talked to Mr. Russ. I'm supposed to get a guy in here to come and spray some stuff. I've been putting out some uh like gel stuff. >> Mhm. >> And I've been putting out some roach bait, combat bait. >> So, we're kind of deterring it, but I have to get him to come down here and spray all down here in order to get rid of the problem. It's not It's not a major problem. You come look for yourself. might see one or two, but I mean it's not a crazy >> infestation. That's what you're saying. >> It's not an infestation where it's a major problem. I can get rid of the problem. >> No, you can come look and see where there's no >> there's no being a landlord. He hasn't brought anyone to come in monthly to make sure that the pest control get that I got to get that. >> He hasn't done that. >> He's not really a landlord per se. He's helping out and have a place to stay until we get us a new place. >> Oh, okay. Yeah. >> So, do you live here? >> I don't live here. She looks I live at the nursery I work at here. >> Okay. Cuz I was told you live here. >> No, I do not live here. I can come here every day, check on her, make sure she's okay, and then head back to my place. >> Okay. Are you currently on probation? >> No, no probation. >> No probation. So you the 13 years that stated in the allegations? >> Yes, I did 13 years and I've been good since. You've >> been good since. Okay. >> No probation. >> What was that for? >> That was for about 13 years ago. Mhm. >> I don't know what I was thinking. I was a completely different person back then. Um but whatever reasons, I took pictures and thought I would sell them online and make money. Found the pictures. Um rather than refute that I had taken them. I confessed to the officer at the time that I did indeed take the pictures and I was arrested at that time. I didn't feel like I should hide anything. So I was honest. >> Okay. >> And I went to jail. I spent 13 long years there and >> yeah, that's pretty much it as far as that goes. and and got out. No issues, no probation or anything. >> No probation, no issues. >> Are you registered? >> I am registered. Yes. >> Okay. >> And my uh detective Zakone, who is the one that precedes over me and watches over me, he is aware that I come over here and visit my wife every day. >> At this point, he really believed he had them fooled. So, he kept on telling his tales. >> He's okay. as long as I'm staying over there and and it's same thing with ghost when anytime I go to a hotel or anytime I want to go somewhere or I want to go visit he's like as long as you're not spending the night there >> it doesn't matter if you're going to spend the night there we need to know so you got to come and reg that address for temporary and that's what I do when I want to go to the hotel like for instance I'm going to go down and register a hotel over here in Mount Dors called the Lakeside in hotel I'll be doing that this next Monday most likely when I do that I'll have to let them know hey I'm going to be at the Lakeside in at this address and because I know the owner of the place. I can tell them, "Hey, I need an an actual bedroom in advance." She'll give me that room number. And what I'll do is I'll tell them down there at the officer place or the police station >> that I'm getting this particular room at this particular place and I'll be back with that particular night. That's how I do it. >> Unfortunately, you've been in constant contact with that officer. >> Um, I have his phone number. I have it on my phone. whenever he needs me, he gives me a call. Or if I need something for him, if or he's even stated that if I get harassed by somebody for whatever reason, I call him and let him know. >> But I I mean, I don't bug him. Otherwise, I mean, okay, >> just live my life and checks up on me, you know, make sure I'm there. >> When he was done talking, they turned to question his wife, but as she was talking, her body language seemed to be telling a different story. >> What do you have to say about the allegations, Jasmine? >> The allegations are not true from what they have said. I know they are very upset because there is a reason why. >> What's the reason? >> The reason why is because sorry sweating right now. The reason why is because she had my mother. Well, it it was actually my adoptive mother who the allegations from that is not true, but she has my adopted mother sat there and went out on a date with her hus went out on a date with her husband. >> And uh my real mother was doing some nasty stuff to my biological brother. >> Okay. >> And they're upset about that because So, can I say something after she's done to show you why this was brought with her? >> The reason why is because my mother was giving off my brother. >> Your biological >> Yes. >> Okay. How long ago was that? >> It was a couple. >> That was years. Jazz might have been years. >> Couple years back, but um it's still not right. My mother was working off my brother. Mhm. >> My brother was sitting down watching TV. >> He was trying to be peaceful, quiet. >> Um, he was also eating some snacks on the couch or whatever before. Not here, different house. >> They're upset about that >> because they're upset with you because of what your biological mom did. >> Yeah. >> So, >> and because of what I have said what was true and apparently they're saying it's not true. So, that's why they're bringing up all that these allegations. >> Okay. All right. So, what about you? How do you >> I usually have him uh sometimes like >> sometimes he'll sit in a seat for a timeout [music] or sometimes he'll go in his crib. >> Mainly, >> but mainly more crib than anything because he gets into trouble by grabbing things that [music] he shouldn't. >> Okay. >> But >> it's just a regular baby who usually does that anyway. But yeah, that all of that allegations that you all said were not true and what they have said to y'all. >> And so you said in regards to [clears throat] follow-ups with the pediatrician, how often are you all going to make sure that he's checked up on because >> we go to appointment? [music] What is his next appointment? >> What is his next appointment? Look at your phone. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. We make sure we go. Okay. And sometimes we only had to go like once or twice to actually go there without an appointment cuz only once or twice was he sick. >> And they explained to us cuz we were new parents and we're like I'm okay. They said it's normal for baby. As long as it's not this high and this high you're you're good to go. So >> okay. Um, the other called me while I was at work and she's [music] here with Rama, Miss Peters, who's one of the people that made the allegations along with Sandra who's the one >> who is >> Rama Peters is the >> the adopted [clears throat] mother. >> Adopted mother. She's the one that adopted Hannah Peters. >> Adopted mother to you? >> No, to my sister and my brother. >> Oh, okay. >> So, Miss Peters standing out here helping Jasmine get some bags out the car. Rama was upstairs or Scott, excuse me. Sandra was upstairs with my said, Jasmine, where is >> she's like, she's up he's upstairs with Sandra. I said, you know, I don't want that woman alone with do not leave him alone with me. >> Apparently, at some point of time, Rayma asked her why I said that and I she told her exactly what Sandra had done in the past and what informed me of >> and I'm assuming that really upset them. and she's got text messages showing where it did upset them and they were indeed [music] peed off and they had a conversation with us last night. Sister made a comment on uh be having fun the next 24 hours and I'm like oh really so what are you planning to do the next 24 hours and I don't want to shush her up. So they were obviously trying to plan something then because we made them mad because we don't want Sandra alone with >> we're not saying that can't see we just don't want him her alone baby >> and Sandra is your biological mother. >> Yes. >> Okay. Just so you know and this is something I've been dealing with for years now was raised by Sandra Yel. It was she was never protected by her own mother. Rayma Peters was at the police or was at the um they were staying over at the beach where it happened and she covered it up for the boy for the um for the the nephew. He kept on talking and hoped to conceal the truth with the irrelevant details he was bringing up. But just when he least expected it, the officers made a decision that was about to uncover whatever the couple were desperately trying to hide. She basically said, "Oh, they're both autistic [music] kids and they're just, you know, they say things and do things that, you know, they don't really mean." Trying to say that Jasmine didn't really mean what happened with her. And Jasmine at the time said she was scared and you'd have to ask her more about that yourself, but that's what she was telling me. And that's why she said, "Yeah, nothing happened to the cop." >> He her Rama Peters is the one that protected him. And it's not just unfortunately the nephew um the nephew's father is in the Lake County jail right now. the nephew's father, his name is John Jones, he's in jail for his daughter. >> Okay. >> And I'm not sure what's going to happen with that, >> but the whole family screwed up is my point. >> Yeah. >> Um, in fact, the daughter that probably helped make the al allegations, her sister >> who once so badly, >> um, this same sister, her father is her grandfather. Her grandfather, her mother, and gave birth to Tana. She's never she to this day she don't even know that her grandfather is her real father. >> Okay. >> But we found out through other family members that this is what happened. It's been kept from her. So the whole family's kind of screwed up and whacked. >> That's why for whatever reason >> Peter's love >> and made false allegations and she admitted later on mother on something that had happened. I'm not going to repeat it, >> but she admitted, "Yeah, that was false, but this was not false." And I was mad about, you know, about this happening to my brother. And I've been mad about it ever since. She was mad about other things, too. Every You can ask my wife and I'll tell you right here. >> How long have you and Jacine been married? >> I don't know that necessarily, >> but the point is she knew they were in her bedroom. >> She did nothing to protect Now, it's also said that Jasmine is autistic. Is that true? Does she >> She does have a form of autism, but not according to the state enough to give her her disability. Got >> Yes. >> Is that his appointment? >> That's correct. As far as I know, I'm good as all the things that she was. >> But here's the thing. >> She doesn't take all the medication she wanted. She takes a light form of medication that they gave her, >> but she doesn't take the heavy stuff that her mother was drugging her with >> that she was at the house with. Yeah. Okay. She didn't need all that. Even the doctor, Mr. um Dr. Wallace didn't think she needed that. And that was after you talked to her personally herself. >> Okay. >> Did you find out when the next appointment is? >> Yes. Um >> Yes. On his birthday. >> All right. So, if you want to show us inside the home so I can verify that there's um molded and everything. >> Just so you know, this couch is in the way because we do have um we're in the process of getting a new baby gate. >> So, we have to put kind of barricade it so he can't get by it because I don't want to fall down the stairs. And [music] we also used the couch as an extra. While some of the officers were inspecting inside the house, other officers decided to interrogate the house owner and his wife [music] without realizing that they were seconds away from hearing something that would change everything. >> Everything okay? >> Yeah, everything's [music] good. >> Oh, gotcha. >> So, who do you rent to up here? >> Raone and Jasmine. >> Is it just her staying up there or is he stay Does he sleep or spend the night up there? Do you know? >> Well, I know he stays there. I don't know. He has car trouble so it's kind of hard to tell. I don't really keep an eye on him that much, but >> his car has been broken down, so sometime a lot of times he's here, but there ain't a car here, so it's hard for me to. >> Have you ever seen him leave early in the morning or anything like that or? >> Yeah, I guess so. >> Okay. Yeah. All right. Appreciate it. >> We're We're going to evict him. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Um, they've moved another [music] person in there. It's some sort of a plague situation. >> I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about him. Is he sleeping there? >> Um, I don't know. Okay. Is is there a problem with him? I don't >> not that we can disclose but his investigation. >> Well, we told it's in an apartment. >> Was first just going to be Raone, then it was Jasmine, [music] then they moved the other girl in without we were gone and they moved in while we were gone on vacation and now they're having the baby. >> Is she an adult girl? I think so. She says she's 2021. I don't know. >> Okay. >> It's been very weird. I'm trying to >> That's fine. >> Not you know Ramona is a nice person. >> I will say >> so let me ask you this question. >> Okay. >> He moved his wife in. >> Uhhuh. >> Did you see less of him or the same amount of >> Oh, no. They moved in at the same time >> with the baby. >> With the baby. That was a year ago. They moved in January 1st, 2023. >> You got that noted? >> Mhm. >> So, he moved in first by himself. >> No, no, no. They moved I talked to him first. >> Okay. >> And then he's like, I have a baby and I'm like, well, you know, okay, we can work something out. >> Okay. >> But we told him, you know, that apartment's little for three people. >> Yeah. The third the third person's irrelevant to us for what we're investing. >> Well, I I baby screams a lot. >> Yeah. and screams more. >> Were you Did you call DCA? >> I did not. I did have not called DC. >> Well, we're law enforcement's investigating other things. >> Okay. I will just say that that baby screams all the time. Screams more >> like yelling or >> screaming. Screaming at the baby. >> Oh, at the baby. >> Screaming at the baby. >> Okay. >> With just enough evidence against the suspects, [music] it was time to bring the hammer down. I'm getting arrested. Would you let Jasmine have Jasmine come out for us so we can let her know? >> Come out this way. >> They're arresting you. >> Come here. >> Don't worry, sweetheart. >> No, >> Jasmine. >> No, >> ma'am. >> No, >> please. >> Come on. I'M [screaming] >> chill out. Come on. >> Babe, >> I need you. >> They're arresting me. They're arresting you >> for what? >> Don't rest. [screaming] >> Jasmine, listen to me. Obey them. Don't resist. Jasmine, listen to me. >> Jasmine, do not. You don't have to put much pressure. >> Sweetheart, you'll find out. Let's walk over here. You want to take them? Chill out. I'll take them. Chill out. >> Why arrest [crying] me? >> Jasmine, do you have anyone where the child can go? Anyone who would keep THEM [crying] like show one. [crying] Why are you arresting me? >> Answer her question. >> Is there anyone >> I'm the landlord. I >> I have to I have to check your backgrounds and everything. >> What's your What's your date? >> 918 social passenger side. She'll go on the Listen to me. Go with them. Okay. >> Go with them. >> Yep. >> It's going to be okay. What did I do? >> I don't know. >> But you'll find out. Listen to me. Don't talk to nobody but a lawyer. You understand? >> Yes. >> Only a lawyer. >> I didn't do anything. >> I don't care who it is. Don't talk to nobody but a lawyer. That's the way it works. >> Babe, I didn't do anything. >> I know you didn't do anything. >> Go ahead and step closer. All right. Spread your feet apart. >> No one did anything to my No one hurt. We did not neglect. Okay, Jasmine, do you have anything in your pockets at all? >> No, I don't. >> Nothing. >> You don't need to stop picking people's son. You don't need to stop kicking people's kids. >> Babe, I don't want to leave my >> I don't do [ __ ] Why are y'all doing this to me? Y'all are hurting me. Y'all can get arrested yourself. Y'all know this, >> ma'am. Do y'all know I am handicapped? Do y'all know y'all arresting a handicapped person? Y'all should not be doing this. I have autism and thanks to y'all. Y'all are making it worse. Thanks to y'all. Y'ALL WANT TO SIT there and arrest people? >> Well, your husband said you're fine. And we're not judging jury for your mental capacity. Why is he not in the car? >> Because I'm waiting for the door to go. >> Door's shut. >> Sir, do you want to take your phone to jail with you? >> No, I don't. >> I want to take mine. >> You want to take yours? >> Yes, please. >> Okay, sir. >> Not at the jail. No. Uh, it was just a question. I was just asking to make sure the black one's yours, right? >> Uh, yes. >> Okay. He wants to leave it here. >> Okay. >> Do you need your landlord to call anybody? >> Yes. Um, have him call. Just tell him to call the nursery. Talk to Jeff. >> Just the nursery and Jeff. >> They were both charged in connection with the care and welfare of a young dependent. In another case, cops rescued six-year-old Aragon from his awful father. Okay. You upset? >> Because my dad hurt me. >> Okay. Where did Where did he hurt you? >> He pushed me in front me. >> That's what he did >> just now. >> He's like, I don't want to hurt him. I don't want to touch him, but if he's grabbing onto me when I'm trying to walk away, and I'm frustrated. What am I supposed to do? >> You're under arrest right now. Okay. On January the 17th, 2024, police officers responded to a residence following a call from a DCF officer who had something very disturbing to share. >> Connect regarding um that the child made reported to school staff that their dad was angry a lot and needed him. He wanted to live with his mom. Reported that multiple incidents of dad pushing him to the ground. Um reported that he got scared um that night and his dad ended up pushing him to the ground again. They have been I guess gave them groceries cuz the dad has been having a hard time and then dad got mad at him again. He didn't have any marks or bruisings according to the school but um he reported that dad hits him in the face and he made a fist. He reported that dad has kicked him. He was asked about if he understood his private area and he said yes and that's where dad had hit him kicked him. Um calls him names. Dad has choked him before. He said, "Calls him stupid. Get out of my house." Calls me um [ __ ] Calls me f word. Gives me the middle finger. And it was reported by a teacher. >> Yeah. But it's anonymous, but it's reported to school staff, it says. So >> So the kid reported it to the school yesterday, >> but then they just sent you guys like a >> like an email of it or like >> It's a It's a They made a report. >> So they didn't contact law enforcement? >> No. So then they just let the kid go home with his dad. >> Yeah. >> After saying all that. >> Yeah. >> Um and there's no record of mom at all. >> No, it doesn't say anything. It just gives the dad's father. >> Okay. >> As a reference, but that's it. >> Hopefully he's here with the kid. Um I did find a grandpa in um on the kids power school, so I can give you that information if you need it. God damn it. WHY CAN'T YOU EVER just do what you're told, you stupid? >> Officer Fernandez of Farmington Police Department. >> Hi. >> Hello. How are you? Can we talk to you outside? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Okay. So, we can hear that you're pretty upset. Okay. Um, so we're just going to talk to you about some stuff that's going on, okay, with your son. >> Yeah, absolutely. >> How do you say your name? >> Uh, I go by Athena. >> Athena. Okay. >> Okay. How do you say his name? Aragorn. >> Aragorn. Okay. Where is he at inside the house? Cuz I need >> this room. I just put him in this room for a timeout because I'm trying to walk away. >> Okay. Do I have your permission to go make sure that he's okay real quick? >> Absolutely. >> Okay. Hi. How are you? You okay? >> Mhm. >> Yeah. You need a hug? >> Okay. You upset? >> Just my dad hurt me. >> Okay. Where did Where did he hurt you? >> He pushed me in front me. That's what he did >> just now. Okay. Can I see like your hands and stuff to make sure you don't have any boooos or nothing? >> Okay. You want to pull up your sleeve for me so I can see your arms? You look a little bit red on your arms right here. What happened? See that right there? What happened? You know, >> dad just pushed me. >> He pushed me. What about these ones? Was that from the same thing? >> Okay. You got some red stuff. Did you Did Where did you hit it? Was it your back or was it up here? >> It was up here. >> It was up here. All right. And that's where you hit. What? Did it hit your face at all? Okay. What side? >> This one. >> That side. All right. How old are you, Airborne? You're six. Can I Hey, let me see the back of Can I see the back of your neck real quick? >> You can play with your toys. I just want to look at the back of your neck. Okay. >> My dad. This is really easy. You got any boo you got any boo boos on your legs? >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. That one? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> I was shooting the other one. >> What happened with those? Do you remember what happened to your knees? >> Yeah. >> What happened? >> Look at this. >> Oh my goodness. What happened? >> Michael pushed me. >> Who's Michael? >> Michael's just like my brother. >> Your brother? >> Yeah. >> Does anybody? >> He really scratched me right there real hard. Okay. >> Yeah, that's when I started, right? >> Okay. >> That was a very long time. >> How old is Michael? >> Uh, eight. >> He's eight. And he's your he's your brother? >> Yep. >> Who else lives here with you? >> Um, my dad. >> Just your dad. Nobody else? >> Yeah. But grandpa and Michael just Michael just come and grandpa. >> By this time, there was enough proof of the constant he suffered in the hands of his father. But when they decided to question the child's father, he cooked the story to make himself look like the victim. >> Do you feel safe with grandpa? >> Yeah. >> And mom. >> Grandpa and mom. >> I scared of storm cuz I every time I get scared of storm, I just hide in my blanket. >> Okay. All right. >> I've been clean my room a lot. >> Your room isn't that dirty, though. The only kind of hitting that's happened before is just been spanked. As far as any kicking and stuff like that, um I have some aggression at times where I'll break personal items, but um never anything that goes on to him. I do yell. um you know he's a single parent like there's times where in the mornings um he just doesn't he doesn't want to listen to me and so he throws tantrums and I'm trying to get him ready for school and I can't get to work on time and I can't do the things I need to do to provide for him and so it perpetuates and that anger just builds up and I don't know what to do because I don't have a support system and I'm transitioning and I don't have a support system for that and I just I don't know what I'm supposed to do when I get frustrated cuz it's like just now I was trying to walk away and he keeps grabbing me and pulling me away and trying to like hit me and stuff and so I keep trying to push him away and finally I just push him away a little harder and he fell and I don't you know I don't know what to do in those situations. Like I don't want to hurt him. I don't want to touch him but if he's grabbing on to me when I'm trying to walk away and I'm frustrated what am I supposed to do? and I've got him in counseling with I've got in family counseling. We're going to Judy Beck and there's been times where we've talked about things and we've been trying to work through it. So, I'm trying to go through the motions to get to a point where it's not [snorts] bad for him at home, but I you know I don't I'm just lost. I don't you know I don't know what resources there even is for single parents to you know >> where's his mom? >> She's in South Carolina. >> Does he have any contact with her? She's supposed to video chat with him once a week, but it's more like once every two weeks if we're lucky. And I've talked to her about trying to be more involved and trying to contact him more often. And she says that she will be, but she doesn't. And she left suddenly. She just left during CO. She said that she was going to go live with her mom. We had 50/50 custody and he was doing great during that time. He was thriving. >> Um when she left, it was put all on me. So, what we're going to do is just kind of, you know, um I'm going to go and talk to him as well. And then we can also offer resources to you to kind of support. We have family support services that can also come in through the home and help you out. I know they do. It's through Desert View. Have you gone through them? >> I haven't gone through Desert View before. um when I first was 50/50 custody with um his mom. He was in it was a special um needs program and stuff and they came and visited with us before, you know, and he was thriving during that time. I was doing okay because I had someone else who could help, you know, help me on that and so I was doing a lot better. There wasn't any yelling ever or anything like that. >> Um I forgot uh Round Treat, that's what they're called. Okay. >> Round tree. Yeah. So, I was with them for a long time. >> Okay. >> And then um when he got older, they said that they could continue service with him, but they didn't see need to at that time. >> Okay. Does he have any developmental disabilities? >> No, I don't know. I mean um his uh school counselor is um said maybe to see if he's high functioning autistic, but there's no huge signs of that. >> Okay. How do you discipline? Generally, I usually try to put him in a timeout, but lately he's just been disobedient and stuff like that. So, I usually just get frustrated. I'll take away toys and TV and stuff, but again, he just tries to escalate the situation. He'll call me names. He'll try to hit me. I'll tell him that's not appreciated. I'll put him in timeout. And then eventually, he just escalates to a point where I don't really do it too often, but sometimes I'll spank him. And it's not harder than, you know, it's enough to maybe make him go like this, but it's about like that. >> Okay. >> And it's and he's usually I wouldn't say fine after that, but he's he's frustrated and then he tells me I'm mean. And then usually I can walk away at that point, but otherwise he'll just scream and cry for hours. >> Oh, okay. >> He continued talking because he was determined to lie his way out of the situation. One thing he never imagined was that his six-year-old would expose him most unexpectedly. How many times do you usually think? >> Maybe twice a week. It's not often. >> Like at the time? >> Oh, just once. Yeah, just once. >> And then with your hand belt or >> just hit my hand. >> Okay. You're on Medicaid? >> No, I Well, I was before. He should still be I I had insurance through work, but now Okay. Any substance use? >> Um, I smoke. >> How frequently do you use? >> Um, once a day. When was your last use? >> Last night. >> Okay. Is that around your son or is it >> No, it's usually after he goes to bed. >> Okay. >> So, we need to put him on a 48 hour hold. >> Oh, okay. >> Um with everything he just told me. I don't know if he showed you his [music] >> Okay. You want to Hey, remember what we were talking about earlier? >> Yeah. >> Like what happened right here and on the other side? Your boo boos. >> That's from my dad. They're from your dad. >> And that's the blood came out of my nose. >> What was that? >> That's the blood came out of my nose. >> Blood came out my nose and there. >> Okay. >> And there's some in the bathroom. >> I can hear. Let's just talk quiet. Okay. >> Where's my dad? >> He's downstairs talking to somebody else. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, we just got to make sure that you're okay. This is Eric Gorn >> and he's 6 years old. the bruises on his face. He's got one right here on his right side that kind of looks like a line. >> Okay. >> It's It kind of looks new to me. On the other side is a little bit bigger. It's like right next to his mouth. Kind of the size of the quarter. >> So, I don't know if there's any internal things going on. We are going to put him on a 48 hour hold. And >> Okay. >> I'm going to try to transfer transport [music] the dad to detective. So, >> okay. Where is >> Dad is downstairs, but dad goes by Athena. That was bad. The purple. >> Yes. >> Sorry for that weight, Athena. Um, so there is some bruising and stuff on Aragorn. Okay. >> Yeah. So, there's there's a few and there's some scratches and some redness on him. So, we are going to we have no choice but to put a 48 hour hold on him because he has bruising and stuff like that. >> So, what does that mean? So, what that means is he's going to be transported by medics to the hospital and he's going to get evaluated for the injuries that he does have. He is making some statements about how he got those things. Okay? So, that's something law enforcement has to investigate. And with that being said, we can't have you in contact with him until everything's done being investigated. Okay. with that his counselor. Is she going to be allowed to be involved in in such >> his school counselor or >> his medical counselor? >> His medical counselor, >> Judy Beck. >> Judy Beck. >> And she's my personal counselor as well. Okay. >> She's been working with us. >> Okay. So, my biggest question right now is, are you willing to go with us to the detectives to talk about what's going on just because it's a more formal sit down place or are you >> am I going to be appointed an attorney? >> If if you want an attorney, that's 100% you're right and you can have one. >> I mean, and if I choose not to go down to I'm just trying to get >> You can talk here if you want. >> Yeah, we we we can talk here, but if you want an attorney, you always can have an attorney present. Um, yeah, I would like to talk here and I would potentially like some kind of attorney. That's an option. >> We're in America, right? We all have rights. So, you have the right to remain silent. Obviously, if you want an attorney, we can facilitate that if that's something that you would like. Um, if not, if you're open to answering questions here, I can sit down with you and we can have a chat. >> Yeah. I mean, >> okay, let me sit down. Let me sit down. >> So, what are your preferred pronouns? >> She, her. >> Okay. So, Athena, what happened? >> Upon hearing that question, he knew that was the opportunity he had been waiting for to try and wrigle off the hook. And he wasn't about to blow it up. >> This morning, he had woken up and it was a pretty normal morning. [snorts] And um I went to go get him dressed and I asked him to turn off the TV and it was time to get ready to go. And he said no. I waited a few minutes. I asked him again. He said no. And this time I turned off the TV [snorts] and I could tell he was frustrated so I walked away. Hey, I let him be upset and then I came back. I was like, "All right, let's get dressed." He told me no. And I said, "Okay, well then I'm going to be the one to get you dressed then cuz I need you to go to school." >> Yeah. >> And he said no. And then he started fighting and all this. So I sat down on the chair and I was trying to take off his shirt and he flinging himself around and he swung himself into the chair and he hit himself on the cheek. And then he started crying and screaming. And then I didn't know what to do to get him to calm down cuz he didn't I tried to hug him. He didn't want that. say, "I'm sorry. I didn't want that." And then I tried to walk away and that was pretty much it. He just kept escalating and I just said, "Okay, fine. You know what? We just won't go to school today and I I've been jobless. So, I've been trying to put job applications out." So, I was frustrated because I can't go and do that cuz I'm worried about taking care of them. And so, we've just been hanging out all day. We played with Legos. We had a Nerf war. I took a break. I was just on the computer just doing some job stuff. and came in my room and he had asked me for a snack and I said, "Sure, give me just a second." And then he started calling me names and stuff. I was like, "You're not going to have a snack if you're going to be mean to me. You know, you're just going to end up in timeout." He just kept being rude and I said, "Please stop." And he said, "No." So, I was like, "All right, fine. You're going to go to your room." And so, [snorts] I went to go pick him up and then he dropped his body dead to the floor and was dragging his body against the floor when I still had his arm in my hand. So, I let go and then he got all upset. So, I tried to pick him up by the body and then place him in his room. And that's when he kept pulling on me and kept pulling on me. And I was like I I even sent him I was like, "Let me walk away." >> You know, and I I told him I was frustrated. I was like, "Let me walk away, please." [snorts] And he just wouldn't. And finally, I just I pushed him onto his bed and then I was able to get out the door and I just shut it behind me. >> Okay. So, um the the push thing we that's been discussed a couple different times and I wasn't sure where where it actually had happened. So, it happened upstairs. Yes. >> Earlier you said um pushed him to the floor. >> Um well, now it's the bed. >> Well, I pushed him away and onto his bed. So, it's I'm sorry. >> His bed's right here. And so, when I pushed him, he was it was against his bed, but he's still standing. >> So, he's right He was right there on his bed and on the floor, I guess. >> Um so, he was swinging on you or >> Yeah. So, I had him sat up on my lap like this and I was pulling his shirt up so his face is facing this way [snorts] and he was swinging around and then he turned towards like this trying to get my hands off of him and I let go and he just went like that and he turns himself and he slams his head but he hit himself right on here. >> Okay, that's pretty hard. And so I didn't know what he was upset about at first. I was like, "Why are you so upset?" And he's like, "You hurt me." I was like, "I didn't hurt you. You hit the pillow." And then he's like, "No, you hit me right here." >> Okay. Is that where these peas came from? >> Was that just like an ice pack or something? >> That was an ice pack. Yes. Cuz afterwards, I saw it was red. So I asked him, I was like, "Do you want to put something on your face to make it feel better?" >> Mhm. >> And he said, "Yes." And I was like, "It should make it go away eventually." >> When we first walked up to the door, there's some pretty choice words that were used. And I mean, I get it. Um I have kids. I get frustrated. I I say [ __ ] I say I say that kind of stuff. It it sounded pretty aggressive though. Everything piling the way the way it sounds >> been able to go to counseling. I mean and I don't want to because this sounds like bad, right? But my [snorts] job had asked me to violate the law and so I told him I quit. And now I don't have any way to take care of myself for him. I [snorts] can't go to counseling anymore. I can't like I have nothing that I can do to take care of myself. And I don't know how I'm supposed to be able to help him when I can't even help myself. And so I try to just walk away from situations and stuff. >> Grandpa. >> Okay. My dad's phone number. >> Hey, kiddo. [snorts] >> Bye, kiddo. I love you. >> We'll see you in a bit. Okay. I'm sorry. I was frustrated. >> You guys were arguing a little bit this morning about him not wanting to go to school. You said you were walking towards the garage. The the chair tripped you up and you just later broke it. They kept questioning [music] him, hoping to find a loophole in his narrative. >> I I broke it in the same I tripped on it and I was because I was so frustrated and then I tripped on it. I was mad cuz I it was in the way and I didn't see it. So then I got mad and I kicked it and it broke and then I just stomped on it afterwards to get it out of break it the rest of the way. >> Okay. Was some kicking to the groin, some kicking to his body? >> No. >> Um some slapping maybe some hitting that was unnecessary. I've never kicked him or kicked him in the groin ever. >> I swear. Like I I've never done that to him. No, I mean he was he got hit in the groin at school and that's what I was saying earlier with like that bully. He had got hit in the groin by them and he said that other people at school has hit them there. Um and I told him, you know, I was like, if somebody hits you there, you need to tell the teacher, but if you can't get away, you know, you can, you know, you can hit him back, you know, if you have to. >> Yeah. Do you feel sorry at all? Is that is that why >> like before you guys >> when when he hit the couch? Was that on purpose? And then you felt sorry and grabbed the peas, put them on his face. >> I did feel sorry and I did go grab him and I put them on his face. I was like, "Okay, let's try to get that swelling down cuz I don't want you to be like having a hard time chewing >> or made fun of." >> So, in the past couple days, have there been times where you felt that you were so frustrated and that your spinking was overboard or your punishment was overboard? Today was the first time I've spanked him in in weeks. And [music] I mean, usually my punishments are, you know, no TV or video games. And that's usually pretty soft because I feel bad like I don't know what good punishments there are. So the worst that I do is is I get frustrated and yell and I always feel bad about that. >> But you don't feel like you've gone overboard recently or as of late. I've I've definitely like on the verbal side where I've been upset where I've just, you know, gone through and had kind of my own tantrum cuz I have CPTSD. >> Mhm. >> You know, so like it's just sometimes it's uncontrollable, you know, and I just get frustrated and I'll just walk back and forth down the halls and try to vent out. So I'll yell and he hears that, but it's never directly at him. I do yell though, so it's not like he thinks it's about he thinks it's at him. It's like I'll say something like, "Why can't you just listen to me?" or you know like I wish you would just do what I'm telling you to do. Um you're making these you know like things like that or like God I'm just so frustrated with you right now. I wish I could just take a break. >> So and then help me clarify something cuz this is a picture that I had painted in my mind. I was about to kick down the door. Right. I hear some some words and then I hear you stupid. But in my in my head I'm seeing you very frustrated and then him potentially being injured or hurt. So, where was he when that when this was ongoing down? >> Like when I right before you got He was upstairs in his room. He was upstairs in his room and that's when I had walked straight to the door. I had been sitting here for a second and I looked at the time and I real I was like, "Dude, uh it's 12:00 in the day, you know, I mean, now it is, but you know, it's 11:00 in the morning. I haven't done anything with my day." >> Mhm. >> And so I was frustrated about that cuz I was a reminder just how the whole day went. I was sitting right here the whole time when you guys knocked on the door. I mean, I was 5 seconds away, you know, like I I answered immediately. So, I was down here. He was upstairs in his room. >> Okay. Do you think he might explain something differently? Um, as far as like [clears throat] the incidents today, >> I don't think so. I mean, it's hard to say what words he would use, but I'm pretty sure you would get almost the same general story. >> Okay. So, Aragorn told me that you had thrown him up against the wall and that's how he got a scratch on his [music] chest. >> I've never done that. Never done anything like that. >> So, is there >> I love through the whole story as many times as I got to, but I've never touched him in that aspect. >> Why would he feel the need to tell a police? Cuz usually police officers make kids feel safe, right? >> Right. No, I've I've picked him up like, you know, like how I usually pick him up is underneath by the arms and stuff like that. And I' and he was facing me, but I've never pushed him against the like thrown him against the wall or anything like that, like it's some kind of like movie investigation or anything like that. So, he said that um in his room that when I was up there earlier, um he said that you gave him a nose bleed the other day and that the blood that there is blood on his bed. >> In that moment, he could feel it. The mask was cracking and if he didn't act fast, everything would come crashing down. >> It's from you is what he said. and he had a nose bleed in the middle of the night and it was on his bed and he woke me up and I didn't know what was going on at first cuz he said my nose hurts and I was like what's going on? He had already gotten up and wiped it but yeah I had a dry nose and it was in the middle of the night. There's all kinds of stains on his bed from other things before but I didn't give him a nose bleed. >> I got to be frank, right, as a cop. Do you feel like um you don't want them in your life anymore? >> No. that that it would help you >> through your transition, that it'll help you through your frustrations, get better without him, and then once you're better, you want him back. >> No, I want to have the the partnership that my ex-wife and I agreed on. I want to have like I want to be involved in every step of his life, but I can't do it on my own. I need somebody who's like a parental figure to be able to take on that that role. >> So, you don't feel like a parental figure? Well, I mean, I do feel like a parental figure, but I need somebody else, like a partnership in some some way. Like, I don't have to have like a significant other, but like I've talked to his mother. I've asked her, I've begged her to move back. I was like, "Please, like, I need your help to raise him. You know, he needs his mom." I've said that when we got divorced in court that I said that he needs both of his parents in his life. >> And when she left, she gave me the option to either [music] not have him at all in my life or not take him full time. And it's like, what are you going to do in that situation? He's my son. Of course, I want to see him every day. Yeah. >> So, it's like I've I was pushed into either having [music] him fulltime or not at all. >> Yeah. But as of late, do you feel like you don't want him right now? >> I >> like you want [music] to not push him off to somebody, but you you need your own time, right? >> I just want somebody who's able to take him half the time. I want to be able to be a supportive parent and involved in his life, but I don't know if I have the ability to do that every day. you know, I'm I mean, you know, I have like like I said, there's all this stuff going on. I just, you know, I don't know what that is. Like, I don't have other friends really who have kids, you know, it's not like if that was the case, you know, it's like maybe, you know, they could go hang out [music] together for the day and, you know, I can do the same for them or something, but I just don't really have that option. So, it's just I do need a break of some kind, but I don't want like a long extended break away from them. I love them. I love I mean I love playing Nerf Wars with him. I love playing Legos with him. Like I love all of that. >> Mhm. >> Every part of it. And I'm happy to be in his life, but I don't know if I can be the only one in his life, you know? Like that doesn't mean I I can't be there, but I can't be like the only person who's giving him all of his needs. That's, you [music] know, like as even with two parents, like you can't meet all of the needs of a child a lot of the time, but like it's more feasible when it's done. >> Yeah. >> And it's just me like, you know, it's when I was working, it's like by the time I get off and go pick them up, it's like 5:15. I have to call him home and make dinner and all of that. And then by the time I'm done making dinner and we eat and I get them in in a bath and stuff like that, it's bedtime. And then I have to go to bed an hour later. I'm [snorts] living to just keep living, you know, and I'm trying to take care of him because he's everything to me. But I can't even really take care of myself right now and I don't know what else to do. >> In New Mexico, we're pretty proactive [snorts] with keeping families together. Um, usually they want to see families stay together, but honesty goes a long way. Um, in order for us to help you, there's a bunch of services that we can provide you. If you work with CYFD, they can get you through parenting plans. They can get you services. Maybe put him in some clubs or some youth clubs to help him and aid him, right? But you're going through a lot and it sucks. You got this ball of piled up inside of you. But [snorts] I need honesty. >> I'm being as honest as I can. I need to know if if it went overboard and when because if he's saying that it went overboard and he's telling us and he's going to tell multiple people. He's telling his school that it went [snorts] overboard. >> The only time I've been overboard is trying to get him dressed. I'm trying to pull his clothes off of him and it's shaking him. But I don't That's it. That's the only time today where it was really overboard. >> Did it frustrate you so much right here that you pushed him into this chair? No, I lifted up off of his shirt and he slammed forward. So, if I did, it wasn't intentional, but I don't think I was going like, >> "Is this the shirt right here?" Or was >> No. Um, >> for some stupid reason, he really believed they bought his story. That wasn't until they revealed their next line of action to him that he realized how stupid he was to think that. >> But it was trying to put on his shirt. So, I guess, yeah, you're right. No, I realize that now putting on his shirt, it probably pushed him down like that. So now you rather than taking off your his shirt, you're putting it on. >> Yes. I'm sorry. And >> it's okay. It's okay. We're we're going to willing to work with you. That's what we're here for. >> I'm sorry. I'm nervous and I'm trying to We're coming with you. I really am. >> Like what? Show me. >> Probably pushing pushing down on his shirt. >> Did you do that intentionally? No, I was just trying to get it on his arms fast because usually what he does when I'm trying to get him dressed in moments where he has been frustrated with that is he'll start like pulling off his sleeve on his own if I can't get over his head. So, I tried to pull it over his head and just pulled it down as fast as I could. >> Were you Were you pissed off at that time? >> Yeah, I was upset. >> A detective is [music] on his way here right now to come and talk to you and he's going to kind of let you know what's going on a little bit more. So, if you could for me just grab your phone, maybe like a jacket, and we can go talk outside real quick. So, what's going to happen is we're going to do a search warrant on the house. Okay. Um, but for that to happen, we're going to have to go outside. So, I just want you to be able to have whatever items that you want to take with you to come outside and then we can let the the detectives do their thing. >> Before I get searched, can I have an attorney? >> It's a it's a search warrant of your house. We have to apply for it through a judge. >> Okay. Yeah, you you can call you can call your attorney. Yeah, definitely. >> Well, I I didn't even want to point it to me, but I would I would appreciate that before a search. Just I want to >> So, the the search we go through the judge that that'll be explained differently. Um that's granted to us and we have to determine if it's granted. But in the meantime, what we do is we hold the house, right? um for an ex whatever amount of time without anybody in it. We secure it and we stay here and nobody else can enter or remain. Um and if the judge grants us the search warrant, then we are lawfully allowed to search it. >> Um if we're not granted, then we just give you back the residence. That that's how that works. >> Okay. So, I can't talk to my attorney before. >> You can't you can >> before the search? >> Yeah. Yeah. But that's all they can't stop it. It's up to a judge. asking them to stop it. I just want to be able to speak with an attorney beforehand. >> And if if you need one appointed you, you're going to potentially have to call the public defenders office right now. And you can type in Sanongan County Public Defenders Office >> um and see what they need to do in order to appoint you one right now. I'm not sure. I think there's an application process since you're unemployed. I think you um will qualify for it cuz there's an application process for that. >> Where do I go when it's being searched? that. >> So, the thing is is I'm just going to have you stand up, okay? Can you stand up for me? So, right now, you're just being detained, right? Um, you're under arrest right now. Okay. So, for child for right now, okay, because we believe that there's probable cause to believe that there is child going on. [music] I'm going to be transporting you up to the jail. >> I thought I was allowed an attorney and that I I'm a little confused here. >> You still are. You're able to call an attorney. How can I do that if I'm being detained right now? >> You you it's a like I said, it's a process. One's appointed to you. That's how it works. If you can't afford it, >> my option was to go stand outside and get arrested outside or >> so I tried to give you an opportunity to get things that you wanted to get without us getting them for you. >> And so that's why I asked that. >> After placing him in cuffs, their focus shifted. Now they had to figure out where to place his son. >> Okay. But I'm just confused how that led from one end to the other because >> so we basically already knew these things. >> I'm sorry. I've never been I've never been in this situation before. So can I finish talking please? >> Definitely. >> I've never been in this situation before which is why I was asking the questions that I was. Okay. >> I don't feel like that should mean that I get detained. >> Okay. So we have enough probable cause to believe that child is occurring and that has occurred over the past couple days if not more than that. So, we have probable cause to believe that a crime has been committed. >> The option to go outside. >> Well, I was going to detain you in handcuffs anyway and arrest. >> Yes. >> Got it. Okay. So, that's what I was asking with that. So, that's perfectly fine. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being lied to. >> No, I'm not I'm not >> I was giving given the option of the situation. >> No. So, um when do I get my one phone call? >> Yes. You get a lot at the jail. >> So, my name is Jamie Smith. I'm the investigation supervisor here at CFD. Um based off of the circumstances today, um we are needing to set up a safety plan for your kiddo bean. Um the biggest thing is is that we need to get your consent once we go through all of this stuff on the safety plan because we do have some concerns obviously. Um the biggest thing is I'm under the impression that you're okay with sending him to stay with your dad. Is that correct? >> Yes. >> I'm detective Cro with Farmington police. Quick question. >> She goes by Athena. >> Athena. >> Yes. >> Okay. Athena, where do you keep your keys? [music] So, after we're finished with the house, we can lock it. >> They're on my bed currently. >> Questions for me? >> No, not really. I'm sorry. There's like a thousand questions. However, are they relevant? You know, nervously. Can I [music] grab my medicine? I'm sorry. That's in the >> Yes, we can definitely grab any medicine that you need. Um, I also do have another question regarding if there any is there anybody else that lives in the house? >> No. >> Okay. Just you and >> just me and my son. >> Okay. All right. Do you feel comfortable? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. If I'm going to jail, and this is really weird, but um because I'm transgender, I'm like afraid of going to male jail. I don't want to be assaulted. >> Is like do you know what would happens in that scenario? Cuz I really >> Yeah. So I I know. So I don't have the exact answer, but if that is a concern of yours, that's totally understandable. And I wouldn't want that to happen to you either. I don't want that to happen to anybody um to have that type of fear in general. Um, unfortunately it is a fear and so and I couldn't imagine having to have that type of fear. So I'm going to do my best to talk to them, but it's more of a them question. I don't want to just tell you yes or no, but I'm sure that they can put you alone. >> He was formerly charged with the of a person under the age of 18. Just like when cops discovered Aragon, who suffered frequent rough handling, these kids were also found by officers with several bodily bruises. Release your hands. I'm not doing nothing. Come on. You better stay doing nothing. I'm going to figure out how he got all these scars. Yeah. What are all those scars from? >> What happened to your head? >> How? From what? >> I got into >> We're going to take it off for a second. Okay. >> How'd you get all this stuff on? >> Oh my god. >> She keep whooping you? On January the 8th, [music] 2024, officers received a call from a concerned neighbor reporting a disturbing situation involving two young children who were running around the premises barely clothed and with skin caked in fried feces. They rushed over to the residence [music] and immediately confronted the children's guardian. As expected, awful parents always have an excuse for their actions, even when available evidence suggested the contrary. These folks looked no different. And as disturbing as things already were, it was just the beginning. >> She said that uh >> for a minute she was in there sleeping. Mom left. I told her >> she was leaving. >> So who was walking back and forth? Him. >> Just two. Two kids. >> So who's she on the phone with? >> Where's the other child? >> What's the other child? Is she the mom or sister? Sister, >> your hand hurt? >> Ma'am, just do me a favor. Go ahead and grab your ID from >> He doesn't Why is he >> Why did he grab my ID? >> Write a report on this incident. Ma'am, >> why is he >> It's not this. >> It doesn't matter. You're the adult in this house. You're responsible for these children whether your mother told you or not. >> She didn't tell me that. >> It doesn't matter. You're still the adult in this house with two kids running out in the street. >> I need your ID. She didn't need >> I need your ID because I need to write up child neglect. That's what I'm doing right now. >> I was not child. >> Doesn't matter. You're the adult in this house. YOU'RE THE >> I SHE DIDN'T TELL ME. THAT'S NOT HOW THE LAW WORKS. >> GO AHEAD and grab your ID asleep. >> Go ahead and grab your ID. I'm >> grabbing MY ID BECAUSE I DIDN'T DO THAT THEN. HOW ABOUT THAT? >> THIS MY KIDS. YOU CAN'T I CAN'T GO TO JAIL. >> HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO BET? >> You need to grab your ID cuz you want to investigation. You have to grab your ID. >> How do you WANT TO PLAY IT? How do you want to play this game right now? >> Like what the can I want to investigate? What the >> not saying you going to jail saying we writing a report? You're not going to hinder my investigation, man. >> Yeah, his hand messed up. >> Do you have any hands? Are you cut too? You okay? >> Is it sl Where did he hurt his hand? >> Let me see. Come on. >> His big sister >> 22. >> Can she tell us what happened? I believe >> you know what happened. I I understand. >> She She doesn't want know parts of this. >> She almost just got arrested. >> People you did not tell her. >> Do you know what happened to THE CHILD? >> SHE KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. SHE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED. I DON'T KNOW. I was not here when that happened. That's why I'm telling you to not tell her. >> So stop lying to the people like I know. What's your phone number? Just check out the other kid when y'all get a chance. >> Just stand right there, buddy. >> I need another diaper for him. It sound like smells like >> I just took him. >> This is bad. >> Does he have chicken? >> Have chickens or something? A lot of these marks and stuff on him. He has asthma. Are you his dad? >> He's got stuff under his arms. >> The kid has crap all over his freaking >> Yeah, he's got one on his leg, too. >> Having seen the body marks and scars, they had new reasons to believe that the toddlers had been victims of ongoing physical maltreatment. They weren't about to run into conclusions without stronger evidence. So, they figured a way to go about it without anyone suspecting their move. >> Do you have an ID on you? >> Yes, I have. >> Okay. Can you go get it for me? Is your mom Angela? >> Another >> what? >> Another one. >> That wasn't your mom that was here with the kids? >> Another. >> Okay. >> All the children live in this house. >> Who's the guy that's in the background? >> You don't know? >> So, there's random people that are just in the house. >> That's not a random person. That's probably somebody, but I don't know who that is cuz I didn't see their face. I was in my room. >> So, who was responsible for watching the kids today? >> I don't know. I was sleep. So, you don't normally watch any of your siblings? >> If she tell me I was sleep, ma'am, I don't know. I was sleep. >> Okay. There's no reason to get defensive. I'm asking >> I just told you I was sleep as the same question. >> Total. There's nine of you children that live here. Well, you're an adult, but >> my brother's not here. >> He's not here at moment. >> So, that's eight. So, who else lives here? >> My mom and her kids. >> Those four are in school. >> Yeah. >> So, who does the house belong to? Does she rent it or she own it? >> She rent it. >> How long have you guys lived here? >> About a year. >> Do you know how the injury to the finger occurred? How the baby got cut on the finger and the foot? >> I was not here. >> You were here? >> Those things happened. I was not here. I got >> What about your other sibling that's got like a whole bunch of marks his back? Like healing scars on his leg. >> He got everything. >> No, these are line marks. It's not I mean, he's got a few little eczema things up in the back. >> I don't know. And I don't know, cuz they play rough. That's all I can say. >> How does your mom usually discipline them when they >> don't? She let them do whatever they want. That's why the house messed up. >> You guys have any animals that live in this house? I have to ask this. What is that smell that's in the house? Because it smells like feces. Smells like crap. Like it smells like that and urine and whole bunch like dirty trash and I mean the house is a mess. >> The kids dirty up the house every day now. If you live with them, you will know they did dirt up the house every day. Yes, we clean up after them every day. They did up the house every day. They put juice on the floor before they left. They had juice on the floor everything before they left. They terrorize the house. If you live with them kids, then you'll know they mess up everything. They don't They mess up everything. I also had seen that there's no food in the refrigerator. What? >> It is food in the refrigerator. She got food in the She just went to go buy food last night and she got to go buy more. What? She got a lot of kids. What y They eat like animals. >> I'm well aware of that. >> Like what y'all saying? There's no food. It's little food in there. She just got to buy more. They eat like animals. Y'all if y'all live if y'all need to come live with people so y'all can stop assuming like that's annoying. Y'all saying there's no food. What the expect? It's a lot of kids in the house. Y'all expect What the y expect? Okay, I'm not going to sit here and argue with you, >> okay? >> Cuz I'm going to tell you, you could have very little [music] money and I'm sure your mom gets food stamps and other things else like that, >> okay? And they eat like animals. They eat like animals and you got to buy food every day. That's why she wouldn't want to argue with me. >> Okay, then we don't have to talk at all. Simple as that. >> You can go back and have fun. >> She just slammed a foot in the door. After talking to the young adult, they decided to escort the [music] injured kids and their mother to the hospital where proper medical attention would be provided for the kids. At the hospital, the children's mother [music] went off an officers and was immediately shown away to jail. >> Release your hands. >> Not doing nothing. Come on. You better with the police station. >> Yeah. >> I ain't doing nothing. Which >> way? >> I don't need a seat belt. I'm good. Still got something to go on. >> I'm not aggressive. >> This guy So you don't hit this. >> Okay. Listen, I don't know what happened. I'm just here to transport you. All right. >> I'm going to jail police station. >> Uh to jail. >> Officer, I need to change my pants, please. >> Your pants? >> My maxi pants? Bloody. >> You'll do that at the jail. >> They don't have no pants over there. >> They do? >> I should call my daughter, please. >> They're they're working with your your kids right now. >> No, but my daughter, my oldest daughter. >> Yeah. Yeah, they're working with your daughters. They're in contact with her. No, but I want to I don't got a number. >> You can't speak to anyone right now. >> Why? >> Cuz you're going to jail. >> But I'm not going to one thing, please. I'm not trying to fight. >> I I understand that. You can't win. >> I love my kids. I do my best. I must go to work. Every time I'm trying to do good, they mean to me in 100 days. I'm happy. I don't have that. I'm going to be happy. I'm going to I ain't going nobody trigger me and take me out of character. But I want to know why you tell me put my handcuffs. You ain't making me my rights rights. I want to speak for criminal justice. I know about the system. You ain't bring me my rights and you trying to trigger me. And I speak to the sergeant. My kids could tell them that what the officer did to choke me in front of my son that was there. Hello. >> Yeah. >> So they could tell the people that >> they too. But they talk very good, proper. They got to earn what they want. I take them off really deserve it. What I'm doing wrong, whatever help they need, I try to get it myself. Whoever me, but now I'm going to jail like this. That's not right. That's not true. I can't call nobody. >> No. >> You don't got no more jewelry on you? All right, sit down. >> So, I'm not trying to think I'm so I got who I got to wait here for? >> The detective. When she comes, she's going to talk to you. >> She's at the hospital. >> Yeah, cuz she coming out. I'm going to get the sergeant to come and talk to you cuz I need something to drink. >> It didn't take long before the interrogating officer arrived and she immediately started questioning her regarding the disturbing events that had unfolded. At this point, it was better to say the truth, at least if she was smart enough. >> Hello. What's your name? >> I'm G. Lewis. >> Okay. >> Finish telling you >> when I was I was in the hospital thing. I had this morning to go drop my son off. My other kids four kids off to school. My other two kids came out. When my daughter was home at the house and they trying to say I'm the one is my my reason that my daughter um my kids came out. >> Okay. >> I went to the kids out. So when I got to the hospital cuz my son had a cut right here. >> Okay. >> And um it can't have this but you know it's open to close. It got to close on its own. >> Okay. >> So um I had wrapped but he took it out but when I I bought more wrap and I came back home. >> Okay. >> But I stopped to call the baby said let me get the car first because I'm doing remodeling in my house. >> Okay. >> So now when I get to the hospital she she talking she talking. She didn't say nothing. She said put hands around you. She standing on the floor. 22 and when you tried to drive away from his driver they wanted me to scratch me and I got back injury scratch right here they scratched me all >> were resist. >> No, I was not doing nothing. >> When he came, I was not resisting. I walk no more. I know resist. I learned that cuz I was the victim. So when my baby was attacking me, I learned how to become my glasses. So I know I could resist extra charge. >> Okay. >> My kids and two, you could ask them what the police did to their parent. They could talk real good and why you did that front of my kids. >> Mhm. You should have took me out the room cuz I know I do nothing wrong. >> Okay. So, you weren't sitting me in. I'm in pain and I eat all day and I'm dehydrated. >> Do you need fire rescue? >> Yeah, I'm in pain. I need some pain medicine. >> What? What do you What pain are you in? >> They were stepping on my back and my back my I had a rod in my back. >> So, they stepped on your back. >> Yeah. The one they want to step on my back and then I have to go outside for people in the hospital to see me. [ __ ] >> Mhm. >> They closed the curtain. I had to slide outside and after Gab come the curtain. >> So they might call my rescue for you. >> I was in the hospital. They didn't care. I was okay. >> I'm just saying. And you see how tight they put it. All the bruises. >> So I'll have the officers give you the >> for a complaint. Yeah, >> these officers are just transporting you. So, they don't have anything to do with >> You're transported to jail. >> Yeah, you're going to be transported to jail. >> But why came here for? >> Because we have to do paperwork. It's just a holding facility. >> But I can't call nobody with nothing. >> You have to wait until you go down to the main jail to make >> How about my kids? What's going on with my kids? >> Bravo 41. >> I don't know. The kids were there, right? >> In the hospital. Yeah. So DCF my girlfriend took custody of the kids or a relative or something. We'll find out. >> But I want to know what's going on and I'm hungry. I got to be here for how long? >> I don't know. I'll find out though. >> Could you tell me the charges while I'm here for? >> I will. I will. I'll find out. And I'll >> So how? But I don't understand how you I'm in here, but I don't know why I'm arrested for it. >> I don't know. >> That's what I'm trying to say. >> Okay. I told you that I would find out and I'll let you know. >> Meanwhile, some officers had accompanied DCF to the suspect's residence. After hearing everything from the officers firsthand, DCF made the call. The children weren't spending another night in that house of hell. >> Hey, Michaela. >> Hello. >> What's going on, Michaela? How you doing? Can we take a look at the kids, please? This is my friend, Mrs. Reed. Okay. >> She's going to holl at y'all for a little bit. I got to talk to Michaela. You guys talk. you guys step over here and I'll talk to Michaela. Let her know what's happened. I don't know what happened with your mom, but she flipped out on the hospital and she ended up fighting me and fighting the detective that showed up. And so she's at the police station now. So at the very least, she's going to get charged with resisting since she decided to go berserk on us. Um, which is why DCF is grounding up all the kids. >> All right. So the kids tonight are going to be going with her. Well, all the kids. I think the other two are there as well. So, your mom is definitely going to get arrested for what she [music] did at the hospital and then if there are additional charges, reference, child, anything, then that's the detective is going to sign that. You have any questions for me? >> No. Good luck to you and hopefully everything gets a little better cuz that was really weird. >> So, all right. All right, bro. Let me see your back. Turn around for me. >> I didn't figure out how he got all these scars. >> Yeah. Yeah. Where are all those scars from? >> Glenn. >> I don't know about that. >> All right. You pull your shirt back up. >> Can I use my phone to play Roblox? >> You got these marks on you, too? >> Yeah. >> Let me see. I don't I don't believe you. >> I I do got >> Come on. You got bumps. I don't got marks. >> Let me see what you got going on, man. >> How do you know you got a bump here? >> What is all that? >> I don't know. >> Hold on one second. Let me get uh big man. >> Is it rain? >> Yeah, it's starting to rain. What happened to your head? >> How? From what? >> I got pissed into it. You >> got pushed into the TV by who? What? >> No, I just tripped in a a table and then I >> right there right there. >> Good lie. >> What happened to your eyes? >> That is a good lie. >> I I got I got hidden on the oven. It makes No, that's >> Hold on. So what So tell me what happened to your face? >> A dog bit me. That's a lie. That's >> Hold on. Hold on. Tell me the truth. What happened? >> A dog bit me right here. >> Okay. And what happened to your eye? >> Good chew. Good chew. >> And I got hit in the oven with this. >> Hit in the oven? >> Yeah. >> How? Don't move. Don't move. Don't move. Stay right there. >> I accidentally put pushed my I accidentally hit myself with it over my eye. >> But how you got that bump? >> Yeah. How'd you get the bump? You said you pushed into a TV. >> No. Yeah, I got push. Someone pushed me into the table. >> How'd you get that? >> Somebody hit me with >> Oh, shoot. My bad. Hold on. Somebody hit you in the room. >> But who But did any Did you go to the hospital for that? >> Not yet. This one's starting to hurt. >> This one's starting to hurt where the >> back. Did you go to the hospital for any of these cuts that you have on you? He did go. I didn't go for this cut. She take me because >> she don't have no car. >> All right. Hold your shirt up for me, young man. Oh my god. How old are you, bro? >> Two. >> He's going to lift your shirt up over your head. Okay. >> Lift up your hand. We're going to We're going to take it off for a second. Okay. >> How'd you get all this stuff off? >> Oh my god. >> She keep whooping you. While they were still taking pictures of physical marks and evidence [music] of neglect on the children, the hammer was being brought down on the suspect without mercy. But just when they [music] least expected it, she pulled a fast one on them. >> Okay, listen. You can't be making all of this noise in here. Okay, so I spoke to the detective. Okay. She told me that it was seven counts of child >> seven counts of child neglect and seven counts of delinquency contributing to the delinquency of the life. >> Like you contributed to whatever they were doing that you weren't supposed to do or whatever your kids. >> Which one? >> I don't know. >> I don't know what you're supposed to say. Listen, when you go down to the jail, okay, and you get released or whatever, you can see all of that. You can see what you wrote and sometimes I want to inform what I what I just informed you of what I was supposed to inform you of. Okay? You asked me what the charges were. Okay? I'm explaining to you what the charges are. Okay? If you want to see any other documentation that is uh related to that, okay, you're going to have to wait for that. So, seven of the seven counts of child neglect and seven counts of um who's >> you just asked me to my kids. >> Yes. Who else killed what I did to them? I don't know. dying. Come on, man. >> Okay. That's why you go to court. >> Okay. >> You know, I'm going to have gone through that. >> I don't know. That's something you're asking me. I cannot answer. >> She's not finished doing what she's doing. >> As long as you do nothing, kid. >> Okay. Well, that's what the court system is for. You're gonna go either back to the hospital or something and you're gonna get what you need. Okay. However, you gonna have to calm down. >> Okay. You can't be in here yelling and stuff like that. There is no need for that. Okay. >> But I ain't doing nothing. That's what I'm trying to say. >> Okay. Plenty of people say that they didn't do nothing. That's in jail. Okay. >> I deserve to bring my other kids to school. >> Listen, you pleading your case to the wrong person. Okay, you asked me a question and I gave you the answer. But I can't find out about my kids either. >> The kids are fine. They in custody of either DCF or a relative of yours. >> That's crazy. >> Okay. >> Hey, man. I got low low pressure. I've been paying 90 since I dropped the money. >> I can't eat nothing. >> Okay. The fire rescue is going to come and check out your pressure and all of that kind of stuff. >> You see the blood feel better? Okay. >> After the medical assessment, they realized that she had raised a false alarm, perhaps to evade going to jail. So, they went on to cross question her, poking holes in her shaky alibi. >> Let's start from the beginning. So, you're at the hospital. Is that what it is? >> Oh, okay. >> No, no, no. I'm going to I'm only going to deal with the part. So in the hospital, the doctor came to check the kids. My son had a cut, but that cut it there it can't be no stitches. So I had a rap my son when I left you right back is in my bag. >> So um they said, "Oh, um yeah, I'm under arrest." >> Okay. >> But they never they said, "Put put ham on." I'm like, "Why you put hampers on me? Why you putting for my kids?" That's me. She push me. Just hold on my hand. Scratches. >> She grabbed your hand. >> Uhhuh. >> You see the scratches? >> Let me let me let me snap a picture. >> Okay. >> Back stepping on my thing. Put your hand right here. Put his hand. >> Let me see. You said something on the face, too. Let me see. >> If I was home, they ain't supposed to come at me like that. My daughter told me one years old. She wouldn't allow the kids to come outside, right? Well, that's not a child. But you you know I left to get the other kids. Come when I ask you to take off. >> You want to go get the other kids? >> I'm going to drop the other kids off the school. >> And then I was trying to go give me a car and I'm going to get stuff more boom. I'm go to big lock to get the bunk bed. Um the match for the bunk bed and one twin bed. That's what I was missing. And I got a pass in pink cuz I'm fixing my house up and my furniture was to come. And look what happened. But now I got seven other kids in school. How should I sign? I don't understand that. >> That's going to be that's going to be up to the detective. You get obviously you get opportunity to see the call. >> Yeah. Obviously, you get an opportunity to take a look at the public calls every day to see what what's written down there. Like I haven't seen I'm just here to >> How's two kids going to get involved with the other kids? That's two kids only who went outside and I was at home. How you going to try for all the other kids? That's wrong. That's not right. I'm going to call a chill affair. Yeah, >> I'm going to chill a fair and I'm going to call um I'm going to write a letter to um to the president cuz they don't make no sense. That's lying. >> And then look and I got nine kids. If if my house not in order, you know, you got they got this stuff on me. I'm at the car to help me. I said no. I I did a rapid loan to fix my house up. You see I'm doing everything. I'm doing something garbage. So I I don't got stuff in order. My house dirty my house did. I got stuff. I got stuff to paint. So what what's going on now? Yeah, that's going to be some prophecy you you'll speak to your attorney about. Let them fight that. >> I don't know how long I'm going to get out. How much my B will be that I there's no way we would know. So once you get down to the jail is uh what's my um charges? >> It's a seven count. I don't know what it is. >> You you get opportunity to see it. Honestly, I like I said, my part is to I want to address what I want to do here. So let me sit down. >> So that there comes that's a water problem there. If you push >> Yeah. >> the Yeah. So you can sit out because we don't have all the cups. We don't have no other setup. >> For sure. I don't know how to do it cuz I eat all day. I can't. >> No. I I that again that I don't know. All right. Here's what's going to happen. What is What are you doing with that? >> That's my bra. >> No, no, no. Listen. I'm going to tell you what happened. How you got in trouble last time. I'm going to explain it to you before I put your hand. >> That's fine. Here's the issue we have. >> That's my bra. I'm taking your bro and you putting stuff around your neck. That's a problem. Okay. No, no, we don't want you to do that. Okay. So, do me a favor. I want you to comply with me. Do you understand? >> Yeah. Let me sit down. >> Okay. Now, I'm going to let you sit down. >> I need you to comply with me on you. Huh? I'm going to put in the back. Okay. >> In the front. It hurt in the back. >> I understand it hurt, but if you would do what you're supposed to, it wouldn't happen. So, do me a favor. Do me a favor because listen. >> Do me a favor. I understand you don't want to be here, but there's a process. So, this is what you're going to do. I need you to stand up. I need you to stand up for me, okay? Cuz you can't make allegations saying that anybody did anything to you. I'm explaining to you. I need you to stand up. Please stand up. >> Okay? Now, put your other hand behind your back. >> Put your other hand. It does not work. Wait a minute. Put your >> but I understand that. Wait. >> We're not going to wait. There's no waiting at this point. That's it. >> Put your hand on your back. >> It hurts. >> It's going to hurt if you don't put your hand on your back. >> Too hard. >> Put your hand down your back. And this actually hurt. Yeah, >> I know. I understand. >> After placing her in cuffs, she made another attempt to talk her way out of jail. But what she was about to say, they never saw coming. >> Let me ask you a question. I don't like nothing. Like that's that's what And then I'm here at all morning. >> Why you kicking the door acting like that? >> It just it just hurtful. Yeah. But we just got a job to do though. >> But I didn't eat all day and the detective play. She made me took all the stuff from my she >> The detective did what now? >> She make me stay for all this time. She stay. >> How long you been here? >> Since 10:00. >> This morning? >> Yeah. 10:20. >> Oh wow. >> Come on, man. Since 10:20. >> Listen, listen. Listen, whatever happened, whatever situation that occurred, they listen >> DCF will assist you cuz they don't want to keep the kids. >> They want to keep the families together. But what you got to do is you got to keep a level head. Listen, go through the process and then DCL. >> I've been through that, but I was at home. What happened was I got my own. >> So, have you deal with DC and what happened? >> I know what to do with it. They never they never take me down cuz look I got my money today now I'm going to jail today with the kids go outside then I go pick up my car to go buy my friendship for my kids. >> But who was home with the kids? >> My daughter. >> How is your daughter? >> 21 cuz she was sleeping. That's what I'm trying to say. >> Who was your car number? >> Her officially you think your daughter set you up? >> Yeah cuz I said we was when I go pick up my car or she was sleeping. How you sleeping? I see you all dressed up when I come home. >> You and your daughter get along. Y don't know. Don't get along. >> I don't know how she is. And then when I got it the I'm in pain. >> But this just the thing. The reason why we can't feed you because we don't know what you if you're allergic to anything. >> No, man. What I'm saying is if he gave you something, you had allergic reaction, you got sick, then we're liable. You see what I'm saying? But soon as we try to process you, get down to the jail, that [ __ ] give you something about this me. They keep you over here for a long time. I heard that before. >> They just keep in a hotel wholesale. Nah, >> we don't want Obviously, we going to >> Why she taking all this time to them? cuz she >> You said you said 10:00 this morning. >> Yes. 10:20. Now look what happened. >> All right, let's roll. to dump them. >> No. >> Why? >> Listen, you see this? >> Yeah. >> Okay. This is the form for IIA to make complaint if that's what you want. No. Go back in there. Go back in there. This is the form. >> You say you want to fight. >> Okay. This is the form. Okay. I'm going put it in your purse so it'll be there for you. Okay. >> At this point, they had had enough and could no longer put up with her. So, they made a decision that was about to bring the whole situation to a close. >> You understand? >> Talk to the detective. No, >> the detective left her already put on that. >> What you mean? You want you go? What you mean? See >> my charges. Can I see my charges, please? >> No, I already told you what your charges were. >> Seven counts of child. Seven. >> How does Hey, let me tell you. But um how about my bond to come out and they took my kids? Come on. >> There's going to be a no bond on that. The jail's got to set a bond. >> That's what I'm trying to say. >> Right. Do you need to go to the hospital? Cuz if not, you going to waste time. If ain't nothing wrong with you, they got a nurse there. They'll check you out. >> I want to get to the to jail and then you're like, "This hurts, that hurts, this hurts." >> In the jail, they'll give you something. >> So you So you don't need to go to your hospital. >> No. Uhuh. >> Okay. For this, you got you have your day in court though. >> And I did have food in the refrigerator in the top and the bottom. I cleaned it out to go buy um milk and stuff cuz yesterday when I went to Walmart, I bought breakfast stuff so they could eat something quick in the morning and they had meat in there. >> We're good, right? You going to be cool? >> Yeah. I got you. [clears throat] >> Okay. Well, listen. We cleared that up already. your results already came back that you had nothing in your system. So that that helps your case. Okay, that helps your you got to think positive, especially for your kids. >> And you Okay. In the end, she was charged with serious offenses, including endangering a child's well-being, neglect, contributing to juvenile misconduct, and resisting law enforcement. Talking about when cops discover something truly disturbing while on the job, the next case captures the moment when cops uncovered the horrific experience three little dependents were subjected to by their parents. >> But I mean, everything else has been pretty good. >> Does someone make you feel unsafe in the house? [snorts] Huh? >> Okay. So, you haven't been to school this year? >> Yeah, >> we're limited in here right now. We've cuz it's ruined. >> That's all me, though. >> How is this? >> Yeah, I don't know. >> On January the 12th, [music] 2024, deputies responded to an apartment after receiving a call from a social worker reporting that two young [music] children had been absent from school for about a week and that the children also shared some really disturbing information with her. They quickly rushed over to the residence and wasted no time in questioning [music] the children's parents. >> How you doing? >> Scared me. >> You scared me? >> Did I? I'm sorry. You live over here. Mommy, daddy home. >> How you doing, boss? >> Pretty good. >> Hi there. >> Um, we got a call saying kids haven't been to school in a while. Uh we've been having issues getting them enrolled and uh my husband just has to finish going up there. Uh where are you going today? >> What? >> I just came out here. I don't >> uh school. Sorry. >> Yeah, I'm got the accent and everything like that. I got notorized and I got dropped off at the school. >> Yeah, that's all we've been waiting on. >> You guys got your IDs on you? >> Uh I don't have my family. >> Who's the other fell in there? >> Uh our roommate. your roommate. >> How's it going? >> It's going. Lost my job last week. >> Sorry to hear that. >> I'm in the process trying to find another job, too. So, >> fair enough. >> It's been kind of hectic. >> It's a hard time right now. >> Yeah. >> How many get money to help you? >> Worry about that. >> How many uh kids y'all got? >> Three. >> Three. How old are they? >> Uh she's >> nine, >> then 11, 14. not able to different things >> if you would. Yeah. Is that all right? >> What cause? >> I just want to talk to your 14-year-old. >> A 14-year-old. >> Mhm. >> Upon hearing their decision to talk to his oldest daughter, he feared for the worst, not quite sure what she was going to tell them. Is >> that all right? >> I mean, we just moved, so we're trying to get everything transferred over. >> Okay. >> And I went up to the school last week and tried to get them to fix the parent. >> Hey, how are you? And they gave me her school ID instead of actually giving me the current report and stuff. Okay. >> Where'd you move from? >> Uh other side of Kingsville. Dustin. >> Dustin. Gotcha. And your name is >> Marina. >> All right. Anything you want to tell me about what's going on at the house? Is every you feel safe and everything? You're getting taken care of? You didn't tell anything to anybody about anything that's going on? I mean, you can tell me. I'm not going to tell them that you told me stuff. >> It's fine. >> Well, I understand it's fine, but I mean, if you're >> going on at the house that we need to know, >> share it with me about the safety of you. >> Mentioned something to your to someone regarding something your mother did. Okay. Something else too that had to do with a gun. >> Yeah. Is there a gun in the house? >> There is one though. Okay. >> A knife, too. >> A license. >> Oh, a life. That's fine. She's not in trouble for having a gun. You can have a gun in Georgia. But has she done anything with the gun? Said that she put it up to her head in front of you. Did that happen? Not in front of you. >> Did she just tell you she did that or what? >> Fighting. >> Okay. The gentleman that lives there with you guys, who's he? >> Yeah, the other guy that's inside. >> The guy that owns this apartment. >> Okay. So, you guys live in there with him? How many bedrooms are there? >> Three. >> Three. Do you guys have your own bedroom? The kids. >> And then where are your parents? So, >> they're in their own. >> Okay. And then that guy has his own. >> You feel safe though in the house? >> It doesn't look like you feel safe. >> Although she kept on insisting that she felt safe, the officer wasn't convinced. He very well knew that in cases like this, the tendency to hold back information to protect a loved one was high and that her insistence on feeling safe would just be a wellrehearsed line. But while he was still trying to get her to tell him the truth about what was happening, the other officers with the suspects were also trying to get out information behind the mask of a casual conversation. Everything's good. You guys got, you know, AC power. >> We're trying to get the power back on. >> Yeah, my old roommate I'm actually on the phone company. >> Yeah. supposed to come out today and I'm like, "Where you guys at?" >> It's hot out. >> But I mean, everything else has been pretty good. >> I mean, as long as the kids are good, we we don't got any issues. So, >> oh, they're great. >> And we just been having issues getting into the parent portal over there. And >> I even went up there. >> Yeah. And they they kept saying, "Go to the parent portal." I'm like, >> "You've been going to parent that." And they were like, "Oh, well, use this code and it should be able to reset you." Well, I used that code and come to find out that was my daughter's ID for her school. And I'm like, well, that ain't going to work. >> So, I called the other school and they were like, "Oh, well, we can help you out." >> And then they helped me out Friday. They were like or Thursday afternoon. They were like, "Go up a Friday." Why don't you guys send me a notification? Cost me 0 for to get it turned back on. >> When he's done, we'll get out of your hair. And like I said, you guys are working on getting them in school. Kids have food. >> I know it's hot, but you know, >> we got fans. So, >> just keep doing your best. >> You know that. >> That's all we can do nowadays. >> Exactly. Meanwhile, the [music] other officer was still having one of the hardest times getting the young girl to open up a little. She suddenly dropped a bomb out of the blue. >> Do you guys have food to eat and stuff? >> Yeah. >> Who makes you feel unsafe? >> Who's Sean? >> Chad. >> Chad. >> It's Oh, that's the guy that stays there. What does he do? >> He makes clothes. >> He makes you feel unsafe. >> No. No. >> That's what I asked. Oh, >> I said, "Does someone make you feel unsafe in the house?" >> Huh? >> Mhm. Does he put his hands on you? >> The kids, your sisters? No. >> Okay. In front of you guys. Do you have your own phone? >> I have a tablet. >> Okay. >> My phone. >> How long have you guys lived here? A month. >> Huh? Come on. Do you guys have running water? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You have electricity? >> Not right now. We're supposed to get it back today. >> What do you use to power electronics? >> Uh, I have a friend upstairs. >> Do you guys take showers and stuff? >> Yeah. >> You're able to bathe and do you have clothing and stuff? >> Okay. The Chad guy, does he make you feel uncomfortable or are you okay? >> He's fine. >> Okay. He's the one that also takes. >> Why don't you go to school? >> Uh me tomorrow, I believe. >> The last time you were in school ended. >> Okay. So, you haven't been to school this year? >> Yeah. >> Okay. What grade are you? >> Can I get your information, please? Have you spoke to anybody at the school? As he was taking down her information, the other officer with the suspect suddenly came up with an idea that was going to catch [music] the couple unaware. >> Can we check to see, you know, make sure we got food and everything and kids are got a safe place to sleep. And >> are there any weapons or anything in the house? >> Guns or my gun safe? >> Okay. They're secured in a safe. Correct. >> Okay. Do you guys have any firearms? >> No. >> No, I don't. >> Okay. Do you guys have a vehicle? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. That's my baby right there. >> The Mustang? >> Yes, sir. >> Fair enough. I have built that thing from ground zero. >> What kind of work did you do before? >> I'm a mechanic. >> A mechanic? >> Man, you shouldn't have too bad trouble finding something. >> No, I'm actually writing on a phone call uh for an interview. >> Yeah, >> they're always looking for mechanics everywhere, right? Yeah. >> It's like >> That's a That's a good job to to or a good to have. >> Oh, yeah. >> Where the kids usually sleep. >> They are in their room right now. We're trying to get everything cleaned up. We've been moving and everything. >> Okay. Um, we got this. We're limited in here right now. We've cuz most of it's ruined. >> Yeah. >> But we've got >> Okay. >> Yeah. All this up here. We've cooked quite a few chickens. We had a bunch of chicken. We had to put um one of his friends came over and picked up some of the meats. >> Okay. And you just all three of them sleep in here? >> Yeah. >> Okay. And then you guys sleep in here? >> Yes. >> Okay. What do you guys got? Turtles. >> Uh, ballpoint. >> Oh, I'm stay I'm stay away from that. >> Okay. >> How long have you not had electricity? >> Like 3 days. >> Okay. >> What's going on there? >> Run. >> Do they know you got that going on? >> I don't care if they do or not. >> I get it. But it's a fire hazard >> for everyone in here. Yeah, it is. You can't have no wiring and stuff going to that. >> I told you Chad touched it up. I'm just worried about the rest of the people in here. Like I said, I'm no firefighter or electrician, but >> I used to be an electrician. >> I got you. >> I'm pretty good with not a fire hazard, but I'm going to make sure these kids have got AC or something. Like I'm not going to >> Fair enough. >> Whatever I got to do, you know, that's what I'm going to do. >> So, you said they're starting school though tomorrow. >> Uh, it should be tomorrow or Wednesday. >> Okay. >> Cuz they still got to prove it and everything like that. So, they should be in school for school. >> All right. Have you spoken to the school? >> Yes. today? >> Not today. >> Okay. All right. >> No, my phone's currently dead. >> Yeah. Maybe try to reach out to the school today so that you can speak to someone before they close. >> Absolutely. >> You know, top priority is getting that AC back on, though. >> Yes. We'll have everything back on. >> All right. >> All right. You guys take care. >> Yes, sir. Appreciate it. >> After searching the house, they made an unexpected move that neither the couple nor their hosts had imagined. >> Hello. >> Hey, man. How's it going? >> Good. >> You there? I'm not the property manager. Uh she's out there in her car. You need to speak to her. You can just knock on her door >> before y'all say no. I hope y'all are in that second bedroom over there on the right. And I hope y'all bust every freaking one cuz I ain't nothing but a bunch of >> That's what I'm asking. What's going on over there? >> It's just people running in and out. >> Are you able to get her over here? Property manager? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. If you could get her to come over here so I can talk to her, please. Are you the property manager? >> I am. Are you able to talk? Yeah. >> Have you dealt with anything at that address? At >> that address, the man below is the one that deals with them the most. He said smell so >> but no like property issues there >> inside >> inside outside around it. >> You know the guy in the black Mustang with the red accents on it. I know he's just came moved in there about I don't know 3 months ago maybe. >> Yeah. He comes and out. His him and his girlfriend fight like the wind. >> Oh yeah. >> Yeah, we've been out. And then >> 21105. Are you familiar with anything going on there? >> No. Just that they're on an addiction. They haven't paid for the last 2 months. There's a lot of people that going in and out at home. >> Yeah. >> There's two little kids living there now. >> And there's more than that. >> Really? >> Yeah. The uh How many folks are supposed to be up in there? >> There's only six that's allowed in there. >> How many bedrooms is it for? two heads to a fan. >> Okay. Are you guys aware if there's electricity in there or not? >> Um, so it did get shut off. The little girl told me that it shut off, but once it gets shut up shut off, it gets put back in our name cuz it automatically >> does it in our system. So, I don't know if they're on ours or >> No, they don't have there's no electricity in there. They're pulling from your guys's outlet outside or your light. t it know what they're >> are you guys wanting to do anything about that I'm assuming that comes from the property's power right the porch light >> yeah they're the the outlet out on the porch may be live >> yeah the porch light is your guys's I believe >> oh yeah the porch light's always on the store and that's why >> it's your guys's power not so I just need to know if you guys are wanting to press charges for the theft of >> I would have to ask that or not. >> I've never had that happen, so I would have to ask. >> Okay. Are you able to find that out while I'm here with you once again? >> Yeah, sure. Do they have water? Do you know that? >> Yeah, that's automatic. >> That's through the property. >> It's not There's not. >> So, that wouldn't get shut down. Got >> I know the the girls, the two little young girls. >> Mhm. and her mother comes and goes and then the grandmother comes in her car and sleeps out there in her car. >> Okay. >> And uh but I don't think grandmother's in any, you know, she's older. >> She just sleeps outside in the parking lot. >> She lives out of the car. They won't even let her come upstairs supposedly. >> All right. >> I do know that the person below them um they smelled of something weird. >> Mhm. >> So, >> okay. And you said I don't know if it's still going on in the home. It's been a >> it's been a while. So >> I know y'all been up here a few times. >> When are they supposed to be evicted? >> So their eviction actually just started um last month and so now we're just waiting to go to court and everything this month. >> Well, if you could work on finding out about that power situation and what you guys want to do about that. >> Yeah, it's unsafe condition. I need to take care of it. >> Yeah. Is there a plug out there? >> There is a plug down below. I don't know if it's hot or not, but they're taking it from the light. Right. >> Correct. They have >> they got you can do one of those things in and plug it in. >> They have wired down with two hot wires that they look like they took apart the whole lighting the whole the whole fixture and then put their own wires onto the hot wires in there. And then they wired their own socket for some reason outside of it. >> And then they have a whole bunch of stuff plugged into it. extension cords going into the >> the apartment. So, >> that's not that's not cool. >> The property manager went on to confirm the illegal electrical [music] connection and after consulting with the appropriate authority, she made a call and it was the poison pill they never saw coming. >> Um, well, press charges. I do need to take a picture of it for incident report. Okay. >> But he says it can cause all kinds of fires and stuff like that. So, >> you have your ID handy. And who was that that you spoke to? >> Um, Mike. He is our maintenance regional. Hey, you want to just hang out right here? We got to talk with everyone. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Just want to hang out right here. Uh, can I get you and Miranda downstairs real quick? My sergeant wants to talk with you guys. >> At this point, because of the theft of the services, which is that electricity, you guys are going to get placed under arrest. So, go ahead and place your hands behind your back. >> What? >> That's all me. That's all me. >> That's all me, though. >> How is this even possible? >> Yeah. I don't know. How is this even possible? >> Like I thought you said nothing was wrong, bro. >> Okay, stop crying because we can't understand you. >> The only way we can understand it willing to talk to you, but you can't. >> Explain to me what's going on here. >> Where do these go? >> From the house. >> From the house. >> Yeah. >> Face that way. >> What's your name? >> My name is >> Abigail. Okay. Where's Where's Isabelle at? >> In her room. >> Can we I'm Go Stay right here. I'm going to go get Isabelle. Okay. >> Those are the only people I have. >> Stay right here. I'm going to go get Isabella. Your sisters are upset. You want to be with them. >> At this point, we're not going anywhere. We're just going to sit here and we're just going to talk to some people and then go from there. Okay. So, I understand that this is sad and stressful and nobody likes seeing what you guys tell them. I'm sorry you had to see that. Okay. But you'll be able to talk to your parents and everything before they leave and everything and we'll figure everything out. Okay. So, >> it's either my aunt or grandma's. But 770 >> mom and dad's going to be going to jail. Are you able to come be with the kids? Let me speak with the defax worker. See what she's thinking. But they'll probably go with go with her and then you guys will meet up. I uh spoke with aunt. >> She doesn't have a license. Grandma's at work. >> Okay. Well, we'll just tell whatever that you know that her up she's basically going to win. So, >> can you lean forward a little bit for me? Thank you. >> Even though we've got proof of everything. >> So, at this point, it's the it's called theft of their what's it called? Services. >> He did. >> I understand. But you had knowledge of it is the issue and you live in the same residence. So, by that it makes you like an accomplice. Does that make sense? >> Was that a misdemeanor or something? >> It depends. We'll tell you at at uh the amount that they give us will determine that how much like the amount that was taken. So it probably is a misdemeanor to be honest with you, but I'm not sure at this point cuz Officer Bowman's the one that's handling that. That's whose car you're in right now. That's the other officer that you've been speaking with. So he'll come over here and he'll talk to you. So at this point they're speaking with the defects case workers. Okay. >> Okay. Stand up straight for me so I can get this. >> It's hard. I got a back injury from my old job. It's really bothering me. I mean with that grace. >> What did she ask? >> Why is she being charged? >> Oh, for the reason the reasoning you're being charged as well is cuz you're living in that house and you're aware of what's taking place. So, you're a party to that crime. >> I just need to know if they're okay. >> Who? >> Yeah. And if the kids are going to be okay, if they're going to Are they going to jail? >> The kids? >> No, obviously not the kids, bro. I'm just making sure that the parents aren't going to go to jail so they can stay out here with their kids. >> The parents do end up going to jail. There is um a Department of Family Services individual here that is speaking to them and we're trying to get in touch with family members of your roommates so that someone will be able to take the the custody of the children. >> At this point, they decided that it was a good idea to let the children [music] talk to their mother before she was taken to jail. Rather than be concerned about her children's well-being, she had other concerns. >> Ladies, would you like to talk to your mother before she leaves? that. >> Well, he's in a different car, so they're all in separate cars. >> So, the female deputy, she's with All right. Here's your daughters to talk to you real quick. Okay. >> I'm sorry. I don't know. >> I don't want to go either. >> I wish I could stay. >> Would you like a heartbear? or whatever this cool thing is. >> Would you like one, too? >> There is. She says she has three snakes in there. >> I have snakes. >> Oh, >> there's lots of options. >> You're going to have to take Oracle with me. Uh, we have to. >> Uh, we'll talk to them about it once we walk back over by uh >> by them. Okay. >> About the snake. Okay. No. >> Yeah. Let me do my order. Okay. >> And the issue had is I I had an order with them and I was taking the order with them. >> Okay. And what happened from there? >> Well, they would they wouldn't they wouldn't let me trade out anything. So, why aren't you guys in here talking to these guys? I haven't done anything wrong. >> You've been yelling and causing just I got them on video yelling and screaming to me. >> Okay, that's perfectly fine. >> Yeah, they they initiated to them to me. The guy came out and called me twice. >> Okay. So don't sit there and say that I started it. These guys came out to me. >> Why would they come out to you? >> Because they were being >> I I placed an order. >> Okay. >> How's it going? >> Not bad. How are you? >> I'm a little pissed off right now. >> Thanks for that. >> Yeah, I took an order. I paid for my stuff. These guys are all coming out here yelling and screaming, calling me names. I have them on video and they're telling me that I'm mad and that I'm calling them these. They came out to me first. Okay. >> Was your order wrong or something or what? >> They don't they don't have any carbonation in here. So, I I I always get number two. It's got a three soft tacos and a freeze. I upgrade to a freeze. They don't have it. So, the issue at hand is that they want to sit there and tell me that well, it's it's a up it's uh they're going to give me something different like tea. I don't want tea or water. I can get water at home. Okay. So then they get a verbal argument with them or what happened? >> The guy started yelling and screaming at me from behind. This guy over here starts y and screaming at me. I got it on video. I got them telling me. I mean the whole thing about it is that the drink is actually cheaper than that that there was or $2.55. I said just give me a bean burrito that. >> Okay. >> L means trade. >> Okay. Um, there was a comment about someone spitting on somebody. >> I didn't spit on anybody. I have a speech impediment. When I speak loud, it comes out. >> Okay. >> So, it's not an issue, but the guy wants to be an issue. >> So, you didn't intentionally hog a luggie or spit in somebody's face? >> I don't do I don't even know how to do that. >> Okay. Do you have your ID or anything on you real quick? >> Why don't you get your ID, though? >> That's what I'm going to have him. Yeah, I'm good here. Go ahead and see what's going on there. The victim wasted no time in detailing what actually happened to the cops. Or so they thought. >> So just a verbal argument between you guys. >> I didn't touch the guy. I've been law enforcement before a long time ago. >> Okay. >> So I know that. But these guys ming off and I have way and walked right up to him and says back off and he wants to talk to me. This guy here come up out to the thing twice calls me names. So I had people from the front and back. >> Okay. So, we you were in the drive-thru having an argument with the guy at the drive-thru thing. >> Yeah, but they were yawning and screaming at me. >> Okay. >> And the guy starts I'm talking to the people at Taco Bell and then they come up and they're yawning and screaming at me. Get the hell out of here. Just go. Just go. And I want my order. >> I ordered it. >> Okay. And then they told you pull up front of here. And then that's when you were going in there. >> They the manager in there said, "Come on in. Come on in. Come inside the lobby." >> Oh. The manager when you were parked here told you to go inside. >> I was leaving and then the guy comes out starts calling me names. >> Okay. >> And stuff like that. And I say, "Hey, you know, but the manager just come on inside the place." >> Okay. >> Well, is that >> So, so you're leaving. The manager comes out asking >> No, no. The manager was in the in the thing, the drive-thru. >> Oh, okay. Telling you to come inside. >> Come inside. >> Okay. Uh, looks like you're kind of blocking the drive-thru a little bit. Would you mind just pulling forward just so there by the light? I'm big truck. Okay, that's fine. Has Have you been drinking at all today or anything? >> I haven't had a drink in 25 years. >> Okay, that's fine. >> I don't drink. I don't do smoke. Nothing. Why is that a question that you do that? >> I saw you kind of stumble a little bit. So, >> I have a speech impediment. I've already said this twice. Yeah, speech impediment. I'm not [ __ ] I just have a speech impediment. And I don't drink. I haven't had a drink in 25 years. I've never had a DUI or been in prison. >> That's fine. I'm not saying I understand you just sit there and said I have this thing like I've been drinking. Why? >> I just saw you just come up the curb. I just want to make sure. >> I got your boots on. It's icy out. >> I just want to make sure you're >> No, you're being you're being difficult. >> I am not. >> You are. You said >> if you feel comfortable to go in your car, meet me over there. We'll continue. >> How much have I had to drink? >> I said have you had anything to drink? >> I drink Gatorade. All I do >> right >> Gatorade. >> That's fine. I >> No pot, no drinks, no no nothing. >> Okay. I just don't want an issue to happen. >> Smoke cigarettes. Okay. >> These people flick cigarettes outside. >> Okay. >> You do you see me spinning just now? >> I I do. I get it. I'm not holding anything against you. I just want to make sure you're capable of operating motor vehicle. That is it. >> Why don't you ask him if they're having drinks? I'm just curious. >> I'm talking with you. My my deputies in there. >> So >> So because I'm walking on rocks and uh my phone stopped working because I'm stopped. Walking rocks in ice and snow and boots. I'm drunk. >> I didn't say you were. >> Well, it seems like you asked me if I haven't I've had your drinks tonight. >> Asked you if you drinking anything today. >> What does that have to be? I mean, I'm not a DUI. I haven't done anything wrong. >> I'm not saying you did. >> The man was clearly turning everything into an argument and only aggravated the situation further. I want to be left alone, but when people start coming up and you on the screen at me, I'm I don't have a right to talk back to him. Well, >> I mean, is it is it okay? It's a one-sided world. >> No, it's not one-sided. No, I'm just wondering what what would you like us to do today? So, if if we find that there's charges to be able to be able to press on him or the employees there, would you like us to pursue any type? >> I don't want I mean, I just want my my I come here, but the lady says I do this all the time. I've never done this before. You know the lady, she comes out, videotapes me, but I I have it on video that I asked her. I says, "Just give me a bean burrito in lie of it." >> Sure. >> Do you know what I mean? I'm not trying to be disrespectful instead of >> instead of There you go. >> Instead of being educational and she's like, "It's $255 for the drink. The bean burrito is $1.89." >> Okay. >> So, I said, "I'll take the bean burrito." >> Sure. >> But she's like, "No, I can't do that. You can either have a a brisk iced tea, you can have a cup of water. I'm like, "No, I get a mango freeze all the time. I have so many of these receipts that are all Taco Bell. I get the same thing. I don't have any weapons." >> No, I was just I was just looking at what you're seem like a nice guy, >> but the issue is that I've got friends that are cops. I used to be a cop a long long time ago. I don't go around professing. I'm a cop, but the issue is that people get a little defensive about, "Hey, were you reaching for things?" So, I don't have any weapons in my vehicle. I'm sorry. >> No, again, I just by accident. >> No, you're you're fine. I I understand. >> But the issue here is that I'm just getting my Taco Bell. They don't have something here. And I started recording her when she she said, "Nope, you can get water." I'm like I was like, "What? I can get water at home." >> Okay. >> You know, I I come here to get the the the free. Are you Rap County, by the way? >> Yes, Rapo County. >> That's why I miss it cuz I just now saw Sheriff. >> Oh, yeah. Rap County. >> Why are we Why are you sheriff out here? And we're in City of Aurora >> in Instead of Aurora. >> Yeah. >> Uh it's just how City of Centennial is broken up. >> Are we in Centennial? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I didn't know this was Centennial. Oh, I mean I come right up to >> Yeah. So Aurora starts um across the street. So Smoky Hill >> here 20 years. Never knew that. >> Oh, okay. No, it's all good. So all that side on uh from Smokeoky is Aurora or Yeah. is Aurora. And then we uh >> set this off. You got your video on. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah, got it. And then we start again. Um, we have a lot of unincorporated areas and stuff that we touch. So, >> I got I got the title registration that I just bought the truck for my dad. So, he died two years ago. >> Okay. >> I got it. Um, paid my mom for it. I had a little sale for it. I don't really drive this truck, but Ho is telling me I got to move some vehicles in Ho. >> Sure. No. And that that kind of makes sense cuz when dispatched aired it out, it registered to your dad and deadline. >> Yeah. Amen. Yeah. Absolutely. >> Despite his denial of being a bully, it became evident that he was after the employees. This was only the beginning of a crazy situation. >> So, my partner's in there. He's finishing up with them. Um, it sounds like it was just a verbal argument. >> Why can't I I mean, why do other people I mean, these young kids I'm not trying to be disrespectful to you. They jump out and start yelling, screaming, calling me names. I'm twice their size, right? >> You know, I'm not trying to be a bully. I'm talking to them, >> right? And then they come out say, "Hey, you got to move your vehicle." I'm like, "No, I got my issues with them." >> And either they can back up and I mean, I was trying to back up and they wouldn't let me back up. Right. >> So, I was either go forward and the lady says, "Well, you can come in." I'm like, "Well, >> right. >> I I want my thing, >> right?" And that's when he came in. >> Well, I mean, I only came in when the guy came out so young at me. There's a guy baseball cap. >> Was he cussing at you or anything? >> Cussing me. I got him on video. >> What was he saying? said, "You'reing asshole." >> Said it to me twice. >> And he I mean, he came outside to have a confrontation with me while I'm in the drive. I'm see I'm spinning it again. >> Um and the fact is that that when I was leaving, he goes, "Goodbye, like that." So, he did it the second time >> through the through the drive-thru window. >> He came out. No, no, he >> Oh, he actually came out. Okay. >> And he's standing in front of me and I'm, you know, coming out. So, then I stopped and I said, "Well, why you being like that?" And then the other guy's mad. But the issue at hand is is all I mean we're wasting more time. You're wasting time. You guys could be doing doing a million other things. >> Sure. >> This is trivia. But you have other people feel like that they have to yell at at me. >> Right. >> You know, I mean, I'm not interrupting them. I'm not in their life. >> Okay. Sure. Right. It just seems like you just wanted something to be switched out and then somebody got mad about it and then >> I did. I I have the lady clear on the thing. She said, "But they say I do this all the time. I've never done this before." Yeah. >> By this point, he was being friendly to all of the cops at the altercation. >> Do you think I spit on? >> Well, they said that somebody spit on somebody. >> Spit. I mean, I just have a speech instead of my issue is that when I get more vocal wise, more verbal, >> it just comes out, right? >> But it's not an intentional act. It's just me talking, >> right? You know, and and that's and that's what I get from having this conversation with you. So I I can already articulate that I don't believe that you intentionally spit on them like straight up hog spit. >> I don't know how to do that. Seen people do it all the time. I don't do that. I've never done that. >> Sure. >> Here comes your boss. >> Oh, that's perfectly fine. >> So let me just talk to him real quick. >> He's a big guy by the way. >> Yeah, we we get we go way back to the football player. >> I was. Who did you play for? What's that? Who' you play for? I didn't get to college. I wasn't that good. You're a big boy. I wouldn't ask you. You can talk to me. I'm not going to. >> It's a deterrent. I mean, I always joke that I'm a big guy, but I'm 290 big tall. You know, there's guys that are 290 your size. I'm like, man, you got to be every bit of 200 lb, man. >> Yeah. >> But I'm just saying that I would still >> if I ever got in a fight and I don't, I lose in the fight. We both lose. It's just stupid. So, Do you mind if I just talk to him real quick over here? >> The situation escalated when the man believed everyone was threatening him. Unfortunately for him, all stories matched compared to his law. >> Do you have any questions? >> Yeah. So, here's my business card and on the back is the incident number pertaining to this call. So, >> the fact that he's not going to say next time you come out here, I don't need to hear that. That's absolutely a threat. I don't need to hear it. >> Absolutely. >> I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. >> It is. >> Do you have any other questions? >> It is. Yeah. I want to know the names of the people here. >> Okay. >> Why? >> You gave them my name. >> No, I didn't. >> You did? >> No, I didn't even know your name till I walked out here and my partner told it to me. the the people aside. I had no idea who you were until I walked out here and my partner told me that your first name was Bruce. I have no idea what your last name is. I have no idea what your date of birth is, nor do I care at this point. >> We didn't we didn't give any of your information to them and they we didn't give >> any of their other than >> Everybody's story is matching up that you wanted an exchange of a burrito for a drink. Uh somebody >> Yeah. for >> right the because the drink wasn't available and you wanted the burrito instead you know that hey we what we can do in lie of that they didn't let she didn't understand that so that's why I asked you with the Lord not being disrespectful either because she didn't understand that >> right >> but the fact of the matter is that these others you guys come out yelling and screaming calling me names I mean >> right I'm you imagine standing there and having somebody yell screaming your face I'm sure you get back in their face like you're in my place now Well, and according to them, it was you who started. You were getting in people's faces insulting. It's at this point at least what you said video. I get it. >> And they have video of it, too. >> They do of of them. >> So, here's the thing, though. At no point did anything criminal happened. So, it doesn't matter what words were. >> Why is there investigation here? Because we were called here. If we're called for an incident, we're going to investigate it. >> And at the end of the day, we determine nothing criminal. >> Anytime somebody calls 911, >> that's never called 911. >> That's the number that's generated for it. There's no case number. nerves, no nothing. >> Blame it. >> So, I'm going to put call notes in that I talked to you. >> You can say he was hot, heavy, yelling, screaming and all that stuff. >> No, I'm just going to say it was just a verbal argument between a customer and employees. Nothing criminal. >> Well, no, but what about the people that were that were they were as well? I mean, there's like eight people. >> Okay. >> So, that's not just Bruce and and employees, >> right? No, I'm saying all the employees that were in there having a verbal argument with you. >> What about the other people in the rock? You didn't talk to them? >> I talked to them. >> Okay. So, there's not an issue is that they're yelling and screaming at me. You're just putting it on me. Bruce is yelling. >> I'm not doing anything at this point. The management of that Taco Bell just does not want you around. They didn't mention anything about the other two. That's not my choice. >> Here's y'all's thing. Y'all's report goes out to a bunch of people and they go, "Well, >> there's not a report going to be made. >> There's no said that this between me and the employees is verbal altercation. I'm saying why not men these people that were in the lobby were youngest community now called mess why are they not being so yeah they were young were they citizens in >> yeah I talked to them I identified them I know who they are I have their contact info >> okay you shake hands or >> I I do knuckles >> knuckles >> so all right >> all right thanks for your time sorry about this thank you for taking the time with I all these years never knew you got the best. >> Okay. Try to try to have a good rest of your day, sir. >> I had a great day. I'm sorry. But these guys are they're going to get to Washington. I guarantee you. >> After some more time, it looked like the argument had died down, but that wasn't the case. >> How many employees do you guys have here right now? >> Four. >> Four. Okay. Um, can I come in for a bit? >> Yeah, come on. So, what's happening is um you guys are actually being shut down right now. Uh we have our supervisors on the way out and our investigations team as well. So, I need all your employees to come out to the front here and just have a seat. Uh we're going to be getting a hold of the manager for the company. Um and we'll explain a little bit more about what's going on um as soon as my supervisors get here. But again, for right now, every single employee here is being detained and nobody is free to go. >> Okay. >> So, detention um for what? >> Um so, it's going to be for um an investigation we have going on right now. Um it's going to relate to the poisoning situation. >> Poisoning. >> Yes. But right now, so and I'm going to let somebody else elaborate on that. Uh, but right now I need all of the employees to just go ahead and shut everything down and come out to the front here. Okay. >> Okay. So, we need to call our GM. >> Uh, yes. I think we have somebody that's working on that right now, but you're more than welcome to give them a call um and see if they can come out here >> cuz we have no idea what's happening. >> Yeah. Yeah. The GM does need to get out here. We're trying to have somebody get in contact with him, but if you have a faster way to get a hold of the GM, that would be fantastic. >> Okay. >> All right, you guys. So again, I say everybody to shut everything down and come out to the front. Okay? >> And again, nobody nobody can leave. All right? >> I can't let you take the food. Uh there's an issue. You're going to have to call them and get a refund on it. I apologize for that, but you may not want the food is the other issue. Okay. >> Yeah. Sorry you guys have to go through all this. I know this is kind of abnormal. This is it. This is pretty abnormal for us, too. Um, so it's a, you know, folks a lot higher up making this call based on what we have going on. Um, so, you know, we're going to have some [music] folks come in. I think they're going to want to talk to you guys. Um, I'm not 100% sure how this is going to operate. Um, we'll just kind of play it by ear. Like I said, this is kind of an abnormal thing for us as well. So, [music] uh, if you guys have any questions, we'll answer them as best as we can. Um, but we're we're only going to have so many answers for you right now. Okay. >> Uh, were there any other employees that left recently? >> Oh, recently. Uh what was the last employee that left? [music] >> Seven. >> At seven. >> Yeah. >> Uh how many people left at seven? >> It was us and it was [music] one other girl. >> There's one other girl. >> Yeah. >> Okay. And then before her >> it was [music] at 5:00. >> 5:00. Two people left. >> At 5:00. Two people left. And the one girl left at seven. >> Okay. Well, at least you guys are on the clock still, you know. [music] >> To be on the clock. >> So, you're you're at least getting paid to do this. >> How's it going, Sergeant? >> Hello. >> Hi. Hi. >> All right. >> I'm doing all right. How about you guys? Not doing all right at all. >> I hear you. >> See to be wilderness here. Now >> just walk through so far just to make sure that's everybody here. Four employees. One employee left at 7. Two employees left at 5. >> The officers had to take every step to look for the poison at the restaurant. They didn't expect it to be more serious than it should have been. >> 1946 is when we got notified that >> uh the guy was at the hospital that had been poisoned at this property. >> He didn't say when. Um, I don't Witzman has the receipt. I'm guessing that will tell us exactly when, but I just sent you a picture what we're looking for. >> He has three employees that live >> is uh the balls that >> the green balls and then whatever that or Yeah, the green balls. Cuz if you flip through to the next one, they're just on top. That one's like hidden. They're just >> Oh, wow. >> Those are rat poison balls. And [music] then that is like some sort of cleaning agent or something. I don't know. >> No. >> Yeah. >> So, okay. So, that's a lot more legit than I thought it was. >> Yeah. So, he takes one bite immediately starts vomiting, burning throat, all that other stuff. He's gave consent. They're going to go CSI is going to leave the hospital after collecting the food and the poison. They're going to go to his house, collect all the vomit samples with the poison in it. >> Okay. I'm just going to let them know what's going on real quick and then we'll start checking around. >> Yep. So, we're going to start checking around exterior trash cans. Trash cans inside. This is what we're looking for. So, it was actual rat poison was put in the food. So, it's these green balls right here. So, we're looking for anything like that, traps that may have been broken open. Um, there's more of it. And then there's also some kind of cleaning agent was put in there. So, what happened was the guy take took one bite of this immediately started burning, vomiting. Um, so they went to the hospital. confirmed it is in fact poison at the hospitals. >> Yeah. >> So right now they're treating us as intended homicide investigation. Uh so just kind of you know trash cans outside trash cans. Um any place inside you know underneath stuff any like traps that may have been broken open anything like that is what we're looking for. Okay. So I'm going to check the outside trash cans here. I'll go through that >> investigation. Check the trash cans. Yeah, this like was wanting us to do that right now. Um, so if you guys want to check inside, I can check the outside stuff. >> Are we just going around here? Are we going back yet? >> Um, ask like if uh >> wait for me if he wants to. >> In the end, it was discovered that there was no evidence of placing rat poison in the customer's food. While the discovery of this lethal substance was no doubt disturbing, an even darker scene of a man taking the life of his wife unfolded in Georgia. >> I just shot himself. >> Let's see. What's the address? >> Sir, AMR. I've got a subject down at the front. Blood coming from the face. Nonresponsive. >> On August the 23rd, 2022, police officers responded to a 911 call in Hunter's Forest. Upon arrival, the officers had no idea they were about to face one of the most dangerous situations of their careers. >> 911. What is the address of your emergency? >> Can we get an officer right here, please? My husband just shot himself. >> What's the What's the address? 113 Grahamfield Drive. >> Okay. Although the caller only reported a family dispute, what happened next would turn this quiet neighborhood into a crime scene. >> Ma'am, when the officers got there, gunshots from inside [music] the house met them, forcing them to quickly secure the area. They thought about waiting for SWAT, but the constant discharge [music] of firearms made them go in right away. What they would find inside would make them question if this split-second decision was their only option. >> I've got a subject down at the front. Blood coming from the face. Nonresponsive. Go ahead and step it up. >> 50. That's a negative. Get them started. >> Rolls quick. Rose can go ahead and >> Okay. Okay. >> Can you see inside the house? Anybody can see? >> Yeah, I can see inside the house. >> Yeah, dude. He's He's bleeding out. >> He's bleeding out. I'm going to have to move up. >> Let's go. >> Move up. Okay, cover me. I'm going to go stairs to the right. >> At this point, the officers did not have time for their usual room by room search. What they found inside would prove why running straight toward [music] gunfire was their only choice. >> Let me see your hands. >> The room has been clear to the left. >> Okay. >> I've got positive hands. >> I got Oh. Oh, the body. Right on the ground. Body. >> Keep your hands out. Let me see him. >> On the ground. >> The female on the ground. >> Stay there. Do not move. Do you understand me? Okay. Do not move. >> We have your own body in the house on the floor. One other person. Do not move. Do not move. >> Keep your hands right there. >> All right. She's at my feet. Almost tripped on her. >> She's not conscious. Not alert. Not breathing. >> Keep going. Stay on here. >> I got him. >> Yeah. >> Watching. >> Stay right there. Do not move. Do you understand me? All right. You're doing good. Just stay right there. cost no one. What you got? >> I got you. John police here. Say something. >> What's your name, bro? What's your name? >> Can't step off against you right away. >> I I got you. You're doing good, man. Just stay right there and keep your hands where we can see him. [clears throat] We'll come back to you. >> Yeah, he's laying on the bed. >> All right. >> All right. She's not Can you see if she's waiting? I can't help the suspect. >> Yeah, she's not. We got Who's going to go hands on? >> I got you. I'll go. I'll go. >> Hold on. Hold on. Let me I I still got him. >> All right. >> All right. Sir came out. >> Excuse me, sir. You have any firearms on you? Sir, you have any firearms on you? >> I'm going to the front of the house. >> Sir, you got any firearms on you? How you doing, man? I got lethal. one day going. >> Oh yeah, sir. >> Is that guy still breathing? >> Yeah, he's alive. He's He's laying in the bed. He's crying. >> Guy outside. >> Yeah, >> he's alive. >> I got him. I I got legal. >> Just keep your hands right there, man. You're doing good. Hey, do not move. Do not move, man. Just stay right there. >> At this point, it became clear that this was more than a [music] family argument when they discovered Tanya Rivera's body and her husband with a gunshot wound to his head. Although he probably thought that this was the end, his journey was far from over. He was stabilized at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance under police escort. In the end, he was taken into custody where he was charged with taking another's life and aggravated assault.
