pulled the I pulled the chamber back and look to look in it. But before I did, I my finger was on the trigger and that was my fault. That was my fault. And I'm so sorry for not having proper gun safety. And I shot my baby. >> I didn't mean to. >> Just breathe. Okay, breathe. Breathe. >> Baby, I didn't mean to. >> Keep breathing. >> I didn't mean to. >> My baby. When love turns sour, some girlfriends become so overwhelmed by rage that they take the life of their partner without pausing to consider the likelihood of being caught. >> I I don't I don't think so. I have blood all over my hands. I don't know. >> Strangling me like you're trying to >> I remember holding him and kissing him [laughter and gasps] and he was just bleeding out. Here are five intense moments when girlfriends realize they've been caught. Starting off with Irma Linda Palumo, whose life was cut short by her cheating boyfriend after he was manipulated by his other girlfriend. >> I thought he did change and I understand this is not about an affair. >> Get out of the [screaming] car. On September 17th, 2023, Romeoville police were responding to a welfare check when they discovered a tragic incident. Entire family, 32-year-old Alberto Roland, 38-year-old Zoraya Bartalome, and their boys, 9-year-old Adreel and 7-year-old Diego, had all lost their lives along with the family dogs. Investigation began, and before long, the police discovered that [music] a Streamwood couple, 32-year-old Nathaniel Hoie Jr. and his fianceé, 50-year-old Irma Linda Palomo, were responsible for the despicable act. On September the 18th, 2023, the police tracked down the killer couple for questioning. But considering how delicate the situation at hand was, they [music] knew that they had to think out of the box for an unconventional way to interrogate this couple. [music] >> Hi, Molinda. My name is Detective Garcia. Hello. >> From the Romeo Police Department, this is Detective Wagner. Hello. >> I know you know what's going on and why you were here. Okay. Um, I know you were talking on the phone with your husband right now. >> Husband or boyfriend? >> Okay. Does he live here with you? How long have you guys been together? >> 2015. >> Okay. We're investigating a murder. Okay. >> So, we have in our possession some phones. Okay. And in those phones, we're doing what it's called the phone dump. So what happens is if anybody's talking on a text app that you can download, for example, text now, we can retrieve those messages. >> Okay, >> we have retrieved those messages. All right, we've read them. We're pretty clear that somebody's pretty upset at uh at the victim. Okay. Is there any way that these text messages are going to come back to you or your name or your phone or anything associated with that? Okay. >> We would like to speak with you without present. Are you okay with that? >> Sure. Do you want me to walk away? >> Wherever you're comfortable. Wherever you're comfortable. Right. >> Well, the dogs are all the >> Oh, yeah. But we're out front or in the house in the backyard. Right. I'm not saying go. I'm not saying go in the house, but we can talk with you out over here. You okay with that? We can go over by my car if you'd like. >> Okay. >> I've been a few times with dogs. >> Yeah. >> You can go inside. I'm done. I've never sit in the front seat. >> Yeah. >> Are you comfortable talking here? >> Why don't we go in the car? >> We can go in the car. >> You're an adult. >> We'll be in the car. You're safe with us. >> No, you can have a seat in the front passenger. >> It's all mine. I don't want him to come out. Mmalina, do you mind if we walk if we drive down the street? >> If he comes out, he's probably going to tell you to go back inside. Are you going to do that or what do you want to do? >> Well, you guys obviously have me. You can't really say much, right? >> Well, it's it's what what we we want to talk to you alone, separate from him. That That's what we're trying. >> I want to make sure that you're safe. >> Okay. Can you go by the park? >> Sure. >> Okay. Down that way. Okay. Um, do you want to What I'm going to do is I just got to document mileage and stuff. Okay. I know everything. We got body cams on. Just tell me where we're going. >> You cry. >> It's all right. >> It's not all right. >> I'm saying it's okay if you cry. Our side just keeps moving. You >> want to touch? Yeah. >> So, this is this Do you want to go to the Streamwood Police Department? Is that down the street or No. Would you rather just >> stay right here by the park? You do a U-turn park in front of the park. >> Sunnydale Park. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> How long have you owned Hueie? >> Since probably 2015. Okay. Why are you scared of him? >> Oh, I'm not scared. Well, >> okay. Why are you scared right now? >> Because when I called him because I was scared. I didn't know where he was. >> He said, "Someone's following me." >> Okay. >> So, I called and I called and then I heard him say, "Why are you following me? Do you want to search the car?" And then and then someone said to him, "There are messages from you, and it's because her husband found out you were having an affair. And I didn't know that. >> You didn't know what? >> Benny was having an affair. >> Okay. >> She was exceptionally skilled at putting on convincing acts that could make even the most seasoned of officers fall for her cheap antics. And now she was about to wield that skill to her advantage. >> When did you find that out? Right now. >> I know. >> Okay. When's the last time that he had an affair? >> Cuz I know this is not the first time. >> No, it's not. >> Okay. When's the last time you knew he had an affair? >> When we first started dating? >> 2015. >> 2015 to maybe 17. You know what? His son was born and he said, "I'm not having any more affairs. I'm not cheating on you." >> Okay. >> Stupidly. >> Okay. >> Well, I know if he stopped. >> No, I don't know. >> Okay. So, the last time you >> Well, hold on. Okay. >> So then I had a party at my house. I fell asleep and apparently he said someone kissed him and that was thought. So I don't know maybe it was 2019. >> Okay. >> And he said no she kissed me and that was it. Come on. We're all drunk. >> You know him better than we do. So >> anyways, he said that he he said that he was no longer going to do that. That's why I'm upset. All right. Do you know any of the names of the affairs that he's had in the past? Any of the female names? >> Um, he was with his don't know names. I know that they said one time to me that he was he's he was probably with a lot of he's probably with a lot of people. >> Okay. Um, but he had recently said, "I haven't been with a lot of people." >> I don't know. I don't know. >> Do you trust him? >> I obviously can't trust him, though, can I? >> But you said you you believe he's had multiple or many [music] affairs while you two have been together. >> I was hoping that they were done because I was hoping to trust because you have to >> when you find out about them, like what happened? Did you guys get in arguments? Do you talk to the women that that he's having affairs with? >> No. For what? >> I don't know. No. >> Leave your leave your man alone kind of thing. >> No. No. I'm too old for that. >> I'm 50 years old. There's no reason for me to like No. And quite honestly, [music] it's not the female's fault. It's his fault. >> Right. >> So, no. No. >> I mean, obviously, you get upset over it. >> Um, well, yeah. I'm I'm trying to hold it back right now. Um, but like I said, I probably went through years. I mean, yeah, I I had said he was doing security and I had said to him, "Are you cheating on me?" And he said, "No, you know what? They they flirt with me, but I don't fall into that." >> What kind of security does he do? >> Um, like at at clubs? >> Like a bouncer? >> Yeah. Is it armed security? >> No, I don't think he can carry arms there. >> Okay. Does he own guns? >> No. >> No. >> Has he ever been known to have guns? >> Mm-m. He has that um Give me a second, please. >> He goes to Milwaukee, Bristol, and there's It's not paint, it's airsoft. >> He plays it. He does airsoft stuff. Yeah, he does. So, he's in a team. I'm sorry. No. Okay. Do you guys have water? >> Um I don't This is a sealed uh drink. >> I'm not taking that from you. >> Sure. Okay. >> Yeah. Because that's that's a big thing. Um >> if you don't want to drink off any obviously you can drink, we'll throw it out when you're done. >> Yeah. >> Um and he airsoft airsoft gun. He has an airsoft gun. >> That's it. Um >> are you How sure are you going to get this gun? I'm actually very positive. >> Okay. >> You've have you've never ever seen him with a gun. >> Um, well, we go to the range and we'll shoot. >> So, he has a FOY card? >> No, he does not. >> So, how does I have a FOD card? >> Okay. Do you own any guns? >> Yes, [music] I do. >> What do you own? What kind of gun? >> Um, I have I have a Glock. >> Mhm. What kind of Glock or Caliber? Um, it's it's a small one. >> Okay. >> Um, I have a I'm sorry. >> It's okay. >> At this point, she was beginning to sense [music] that she was giving away too much information that might come back to bite her. So, she feigned anxiety. A calculated move to enable her to discontinue that conversation and switch to something else quickly without the officers expecting anything. >> I don't keep them here because the grandkids are here. >> Where do you keep them at? >> I keep them right now. Now they're in the trunk of my son's car. >> What kind of car is that? >> He has a Civic. >> Where's Where's that car at? >> I don't know. He's um He is currently moving. He's a mover, so he's >> Where's your son at? >> He's moving. >> I know, but where's he at like now? >> Oh, I don't know. >> Okay. Does he stay with you? >> No. The only ones that stay with me Uh, >> we talk. >> No, my son does not like them. >> Okay. >> Does he know that the guns are in the trunk of his car? >> He has a void guard. >> Yeah. >> Do you have a spare key to the your son's car? >> No. When do you need to see them? >> Well, I mean, I guess sooner than later if you're allowing us to take a look at him. >> Well, yeah. No, I don't have a reason not to. >> Okay. >> Is there um >> I can't know he's out of state. Can we can we make a date to do that? >> Yeah, we can do that. Um my question is, would there be any reason um why Huey would grab that gun without your knowledge? >> No. No, >> there's there's no way. >> Mm-m. Mm-m. [clears throat] >> When was the last time your son was at your house or last time that you >> I saw my son? >> Yeah. >> Um My father is ill. >> And when was that? >> July. I don't see my son often. I don't see any of my children that don't live with me often. They're busy. >> How old is your son? He was born in '95. I'm sorry, I can't think about it, but um he was born in '95. >> Your son have a void card? >> Yes. Okay. >> What kind of caliber guns are they? So, one was a Glock. You know what it is? >> Um I know it's a 90 mm. >> Okay. What about the other gun? >> I think it's better if I can't if I'm wrong. >> Well, I mean, you can be wrong. I'm just asking at this point. not going to be here. >> I have no problem bringing them to you is what I'm trying to say. I have no problem saying whatever you need me to say because >> you just have the two the two guns. Are there any more? >> I have four. >> Four guns. >> Four. >> Are they all handguns? >> No. No. >> What are the other? >> Well, you know what? There's one that's that's a handgun, but it's not. It's a rifle. >> Okay. >> Does that make sense? >> I saw it. I really would I would rather than me think about it because I'm I'm nervous. I'm scared. I'm I'm hurt. I would rather just take him to you. >> You know what I'm saying? >> Why? Why are you scared? >> Because Because I can't believe he cheated on me again. >> Okay. I'm going to give you a few names. All right. You tell me if you ever heard these names before. >> Sure. Uh, Sora Bartalonsi. >> I was in his car and the on his thing that name came up. I said, "Who is that?" It was 4 in the morning. >> When was it? >> I don't know. Um, I was with my cousin. He picked me up. I had been drinking. Was that this week? >> Oh, no. July maybe. >> Okay. So, what did he say that this who who was this person? >> He said nobody. It's a false call or something like that. And then >> but if it's saved in his context, >> thank you. But >> you don't I >> I'm not I'm I'm just not going to fight with him quite honestly because fighting with him I feel like he just sits there and he'll manipulate me and I'm not. >> So why why why do you let him manipulate you if you if you already know that that's what he's doing? >> All along she really thought that she had the officers cornered with her makebelieve story. As she heard that question, she realized the officers were no amateurs to the game that she was playing and that her response to that question could determine what would happen next. >> Well, really, I was also drinking, so it wasn't something like if what his phone is under in my name, so when he calls someone, it shows up in my name. Do you know what I'm saying? So, I don't >> So, you think it was could have been some You're assuming? >> No. You know what? I'm hoping >> right, >> you know, period. There's no assuming. I'm hoping. >> Mhm. >> I'm hoping that he is being honest with me. >> Do you have access to your phone records on your phone? >> On my >> on your phone? Like, do you have your phone on right now? >> No. >> Is that the house? >> Yeah. >> Who Who's your phone carrier? >> T-Mobile. >> Both. So, both of your phones are T-Mobile phones. >> Yes. All three of us. Um I just You're right. I should have done more. I don't know why. I don't I don't I don't have an answer to that. I The only thing I can say is I'm broken. And you're right. I should be talking to a therapist. I'm sorry. >> What about a man by the name of Alberto Rolon? >> Have I ever heard of a man? >> Yeah. >> No. >> Okay. Have you ever met Sora? >> No. >> Seen a picture of her? >> No. So that name comes up to you because you saw it. [music] >> Well, really that name stuck in my head because that night I thought you cheated on me. >> Was the person calling? >> They're calling in. >> Okay. >> More than once. >> And it was a long name. I thought it was Bartholomew actually. >> Mhm. >> It was a long name. But >> so when we asked your husband if he knew this person, Sarida, he said, "I've never heard that name. Why? Why would he be lying to us? >> I don't know. >> I don't know. >> Should I believe him? >> I don't know. Please don't tell him. I told >> We're not going to tell him anything. >> I don't I I thought that you guys said to him he was having an affair. Somebody said he's having an affair. >> Okay. Well, that's that that is probably very accurate, but we're not here to put him on a a have a trial on whether or not he had an affair. Okay. We have a matter of someone lost their life. So, him having the an affair is the least of my worries. >> I understand where what you're saying. >> Mhm. >> Suck it up. It's not [music] It's not your problem. I get it. >> You didn't do it. He did. >> I'm just right. >> Again, I understand. >> Okay. >> I know. I I talk a lot and I know what [music] what that what you guys are here for something else and I'm making it about cheating and it's not >> Well, I mean it could be. I mean >> So are you guys saying that you're trying to find out if he the husband? >> We're trying to find out who was involved. So we're talking to everyone. We're talking to you. We're talking to him. We're talking to other people because as you may be aware, [music] people lie to the police, right? So we don't know who's lying. Gotcha. >> Um, what I would like to ask you is on >> either Friday or Saturday night, did he go out with his friends? >> No. >> Did he [music] work? >> Friday night? No, he was with me >> Saturday night. >> No. No. Okay. This is what happened. >> Mhm. >> When I get a chance to be with him, I'm with him. >> Okay. >> So, Friday night, we started drinking and we were at home and we were drinking and drinking and drinking. We drink a lot. >> Okay. >> Okay. We probably fell asleep. He sleeps in the garage. I sleep in my room. >> Why does he sleep in the garage? >> Because he says that he's more comfortable in the garage. But >> is there a bed in there? >> No, it's a couch. >> He sleeps on a couch in the garage. Garage isn't finished. >> Mm- >> Okay. >> I know, but that's not why we're here. >> Um, and I don't mean to be rude. No, you're not being rude at all. >> I'm just saying I'm not going to get in. And now I know. Um, so we were drinking and then um we woke up and we were hung over >> on Saturday. >> Uh-huh. So, um, he said, "We got to move." I said, "Okay." Um, I really want to go to Ross. I want to buy some jeans. Um, and and then he said, "Let's get something to eat." I said, "Okay, let I said, "You decide." He said, "Okay, let's go to Jersey Mike's." This was It [music] was still day. Um, >> she continued spinning tails, determined to pull the wall over the officer's eyes. >> And I got home, I fell asleep, and apparently I woke up and yelled at everybody. >> What time did you fall asleep? >> Oh, I don't even know. It was day, but he was with the kids playing GTA. >> Okay. And then um my daughter had said to me, my daughter had said to me, "Did you wake up in the middle of the night?" And I said, "No, why?" And she said, "Well, I was just wondering cuz you were yelling at everybody and it seemed like you were just sleeping and I think I heard you talking in your sleep." I said, "No, I didn't." And then I said, "Maybe it was Nate that was talking in the sleep." And she said, "No, Nate was snoring." uh because the door was open and everybody was hearing him snore. I said, "I didn't hear that." And then um I think we woke up Sunday like 9 and I said, "We need to do laundry. I want to return my shoes. Um and I would like to go to the grocery store, but I do not have all the money for that. Can you help me?" He said, "Yes." I said, "Thank you." That's what we did. And then um Sunday we went to sleep probably like 9:00. Woke up this morning, went to work out. Um he went to work, I went to work, and this is what I've coming home to. >> So on Saturday night, did you guys drink? >> Mm- No, we were sleeping. We were hung over. I can't I I know it's not your business, but I personally can't drink two nights in a row and I get very very hung over. >> What about him? Could he drink two nights in a row? >> Um I guess he could, but if nobody was there, so he was he was sleeping cuz we were up pretty I want to say my daughter said no. Her boyfriend said I heard Nate Saturday morning. I think he was still drinking. He was going to work and it was 5:00 a.m. My my daughter's my daughter's boyfriend was going to work at 5:00 a.m. And [music] um that a Saturday morning or Sunday morning? >> Saturday morning. Um and then I when I woke up for a brief moment Saturday [music] maybe like 1 2 he was still sleeping. Um and so I went back to bed and then I don't know what time he went to Ross. How do you know he was still sleeping if you guys sleep and I saw him? I he had the garage door open. Remember I said my daughter heard him snoring. >> Mhm. >> He had the garage door open. So I got up, I looked and he was on the couch. Well, you're right. Maybe he was facing the couch, not sleeping. >> Okay. If he if he were to leave in the middle of the night [music] one day, would it be safe to say that you probably wouldn't have not known? No, I think everybody would knows when he leaves because when you slam our door, the front door, you don't even have to slam it. Like you hear it and the house is I mean it's fragile. You hear everything. [music] So no, especially like maybe if I would like Friday night maybe [music] because we were drinking and if I would have passed out on Friday, Friday to to in the morning, maybe he could have done that. But I was already had been sleeping off a hangover. So >> did you go anywhere Saturday night then? >> No, I was home. Well, I I it wasn't night. It was afternoon. No, I did not. I was here Are you telling me the truth? >> Yeah, >> 100%. >> Yeah. >> You wouldn't be covering for for Nate at all. >> No, he was here. Even my daughter said he was here. >> The cops actually saw her story for what it truly was, a carefully stitched tail. [music] They decided to indulge her. It was clear that she had her way with words and that the only way to catch her was to look out for other signs that would give her away. >> So, what's going to happen right now that he comes out? >> Is he going to come up? He's probably not going to come home. >> I asked you know much of his history. >> Um not not like physical stuff just like DUIs. >> Okay. >> So was I don't know. I don't know. >> Sorry. I don't know that question. >> Okay. >> Or that answer. Sorry. >> I don't know if we got all your information. Do you want to grab her info? >> Uh we do have it. Can I ask something that you're probably not going to tell me? >> Go ahead. >> Are you guys saying that Nate killed this lady's husband? >> No, >> we're not saying anything yet. We're trying to figure out >> I'm trying to figure out who did it >> and we have to talk to everyone. >> Know something and he's not telling us. >> How about I You know what? I I can tell you that he was home on Friday night into Saturday. >> [music] >> He was home. My daughters told me he was home. I don't know when. If you guys are saying Friday, I can tell you. I mean, I was with him all Friday night in the garage. >> Okay, >> this is something that happened on Friday. He was home. I promise. I had gotten out of work on Friday at 2:30. At 2:40, I went to the eye doctor. He was home and he didn't go to work because he wasn't feeling well. So he was home. He said, "You want to go have dinner?" I said, "Okay." >> What about the Ring doorbell on your house? Does that record? >> No. >> Doesn't record at all? >> Doesn't save. >> No, it it's broken. It doesn't even work. We I I have it because it's a doorbell. >> So now it just only rings the doorbell. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I I used to have that. so that I could see everybody coming and going. >> Mhm. >> And then um >> when was the last time it worked? >> Oh my goodness. >> If I'm going to be honest with you, maybe 2 years almost three. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know for sure. Um anyways, if this is Friday, he was we we drank we we we had dinner. He called his nephew to say, "Are you around?" His apparently his nephew said no. So, we went home. We picked up some Corona. Um, we drank and drank and drank and drank. It was 18 Coronas. Drunk stupid. Had nowhere to go on Saturday. That I can tell you. >> Well, we're we're asking about Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. You know, it's not just one specific day. >> Okay. So, Thursday Thursday he had an interview. >> Mhm. So on Thursday he I don't even I he went to work and left early cuz he again he wasn't feeling well. >> Okay. >> So he left and um he went to an interview and >> was he home Thursday night? >> Yes. >> Okay. So now we established he was home Thursday night. He was home Friday night. >> What about Saturday? >> Saturday he was home. He was home. And I know he was home because my children told me he was home. He was home into Sunday. >> Okay, >> he was there. I woke up and he was there. He was asleep. Um and then I woke him up and I said, "Hey, how about some breakfast?" We made pancakes. We made eggs and sausage. He ate >> and he was with me Sunday. >> In fact, he was with me Sunday night. >> Okay. Um, we woke up and we went to work out and then I I came to work. So, >> at this point, the officers still had no proof of her involvement, even though they were certain that she knew more than she was letting on. So, they came up with another tactic that they hoped would reveal whatever skeletons she had in her closet. >> If I were to ask if you can uh email me your month's cell phone records, would you do that? >> Yes. Would you not tell him if you do that for me? >> And nobody's going to tell anybody. >> No. >> Here's my card. My email's at the bottom >> every month. I know you get a cell phone bill and all the phone calls are recorded and phone numbers and stuff. >> You can actually go into into your either the store or you can go into your account and you can print all that up for us. put it in a PDF, send it to my email. Okay, >> here's here's what I what we have to be thorough with each person, right? So that we could say, "No, this person is likely not. Maybe it is, maybe it's not." Right? Right now, I'll be honest with you. I don't know >> if you were home, >> right? So, so as you can tell, we're talking to everyone. >> I understand. I I you know what I if quite honestly I don't have I I can't tell you who could even confirm that I'm home anytime because I sleep in my room by myself, >> right? >> You know, so yeah, I hear what you're saying. I understand completely. Um the only thing I can tell you is that if people get up >> Mhm. >> to get water to do anything, >> they see him sleeping. So they can confirm he's home. >> Okay. But my daughter has an infant, so they're up. >> Okay. >> Do you know what I'm saying? So, it's not like she can sleep the whole night. >> All right. So, can you send me your daughter's phone number and that email that you're going to send me? >> Mhm. Yeah. I I will send you Andrew's. So, when I get home, what do I am I >> Well, you tell me. I mean, >> do I tell him? They just they were just >> they didn't tell us anything then. The only thing that you know is that what you overheard on on the phone call that you were talking with him. >> Yeah. I have to do that, don't I? >> If you want to bring up that you heard that he had an affair, that's on you. >> Do not bring up the stuff with your son's guns. >> Thank you. >> Where you have no idea where your son is at right now? >> No. >> He's out of state. >> Yes. He told he's getting married on Friday. Where's he getting married at? >> It's the King County Courthouse, Geneva. He said, "Mom, I'm nervous. I have to get back." >> What do you What does he mean by that? He has to get back >> because he's moving. He works for a moving company. So, the police don't don't If that's wrong, don't say I'm lying. >> No. No. Well, that's not what that wouldn't be concerned about. >> I know, but you guys are police officers. >> So, you bet your phone's at the house. Mhm. >> I mean, we're going to be dropping you off. Would you be all right just grabbing your phone and giving that info to us? >> Can I email that? Cuz I I don't really want to fight with him, please. >> So, let's go to that. I mean, is it going to be a physical fight? >> No, I >> Has he ever been physical? >> Not with me. >> With who? >> Oh, well, I don't know. >> Okay. >> I didn't mean it like, oh, he's a physical person. I not with me. I say that because people say they'll be like, "Oh, he he seems really mean." Well, he's never hit me. >> Okay. >> What do you mean? How's he mean? >> Oh, he's a big black guy. So, he's to me maybe not to you. >> To me, he it's just intimidating. Like he he he's a big black guy to me. Do you know what I mean? Different >> Oh, I understand what you're saying. >> Like if he's out in the street and something's happening, people see him, are they scared? No, not I'm sorry. I guess I'm >> But but you know him, right? >> I mean for what you said about 8 years now. 2015. >> No, he hasn't been into like a [music] fight or anything. >> Not Not even with you. >> Uhuh. Well, arguing. >> Never pushed you. Just yelling. >> Yeah. No, he has never touched [music] me. Absolutely not. >> Okay. >> That man opens my door for me. No. >> Uh-uh. No. So, with what's going on with what you found out today about the affair, are you staying with him? What are you doing? >> I don't know what I'm going to do. I obviously I have to talk to him. >> Okay. Has Streamoid ever been to the house? The police department for you guys arguing? >> No, not for me and him arguing. >> For who? >> For me and um my ex. At this point, all they planned to do was play along and make her believe that they bought her innocent victim story until they could finally get her to hand over her email. The only hope of ever uncovering the truth. >> Uh I didn't write down when you said you saw the name on the screen. What how long ago [music] was that approximately? >> And this is just a guess, right? >> Yep. >> July. >> Okay. And then that would be this year. >> Not last [music] year or July. >> Yeah, this year. >> Okay. So sometime in July. >> Mhm. It >> was like a Saturday night or an early Sunday morning. >> Said it was 4:00 a.m. [music] >> It was like a Saturday Sunday morning. Okay. >> I was drinking and he said, "I don't you you're not taking an Uber." >> Where do you pick you up from? >> Carpentersville. >> Okay. >> And I said, "Okay." And um >> Do you have a car? >> No. >> How do you get to work? >> My children. >> Okay. I don't have any further questions. >> I don't either. >> Okay. You want to take you back to your house? >> Can I walk? >> You can. It's up to you. You're >> He's I believe that's him parked there on the curb. >> No, it's not. >> That's uh black. >> Where? >> Right on straight ahead of us. See the headlights around the curb? Straight ahead? >> Yeah. >> He's been here there probably for a bit. >> Can you drop me off over there? >> We'll drop >> Well, he knows we're parked back here. Okay, then I'm just going to get out of the car. >> You are you sure that's what you would like to do? >> Yes, because I'm I just I need a breath. >> Okay. >> You know, I >> Here's the thing. We our concern is we don't want [music] you putting you in any harm's way. So, you're >> if I if I'm going to be in harm's way, [music] if he's going to hit me or do something to me, I'm calling the police. >> Okay. >> That's for sure. Yes, I agree. I should have left him when he cheated on me. I didn't. I don't have an excuse. You know, I I would love to say people change and I would love him to change. I thought he did change and I understand this is not about an affair, but for me it it's about an affair. I don't know what day you guys are looking at, but for me, he was home all weekend, Thursday to today. He comes, he goes to work, he comes home. Um, >> do you think he's capable of taking Samo's life? >> No, I'm sorry. I know. >> How sure are you of that? >> You know, Nate is a lot of things, but what [music] he tries to do is to calm people down and stop them from fighting. So, for him to just actually fight with someone, >> remember when we first met you at the door, I told you that we had some text messages? >> Yes. with phone numbers >> and we're going to find out who those phone numbers belong to. >> Is there any reason why those numbers would come back to you? >> Are you sure? >> Are those my numbers? >> I don't know that yet. We're looking into it. But what I'm saying is there any reason why they would come back to you? >> No. >> Cuz all that either it's if it's from the phone or if it's from uh like a third party app. >> Uhhuh. >> All that stuff we can look and get the subscriber information. Understand? >> And if that is in your name, the phones >> Uhhuh. >> it's going to come back to you. >> Yeah. No. Wait. Was there You said in the beginning you told me that because it was like fighting. >> There's several numbers that have made some remarks that were looking into who they are >> and what those numbers belong to. Right. >> Gotcha. >> Now, if they if I then find out that they do belong to you and then you say, "Oh, yeah, about that." >> Uhhuh. >> That's not going to look very good. Right. >> Understand? >> So that's why I'm asking you right now. I don't know who those numbers belong to right now. >> Yeah. No, I don't know. >> Have you ever been arrested or anything before? >> No. >> Never? >> No. In high school. >> All for >> I ran away. >> As a juvenile. Anything as an adult? >> Okay. >> No. No. I had children. I try to stay out of trouble. I drink every on one day a week. That's what I do. It's my guilty pleasure. >> So, do you want were you saying you want to get out of the car here or do you want to be dropped off? >> No, I just I don't want my neighbors to see me get dropped off. I'll just walk home. >> Okay. >> I appreciate you talking to me. Thank you so much. >> Thank you. >> Without solid evidence, Hoie Jr. and Palomao were free to go after their respective interrogation. The two eventually fled town and on September the 20th, 2023, [music] with both now solid suspects in investigator's eyes, Huey Jr. and Palomo were cited in a Walmart in Katusa, Oklahoma. After the couple left the store, Katusa police were waiting in the parking lot and when they tried to pull the couple over, a police chase [music] ensued, ending with a fiery highway crash. >> Get out of the car. >> I'm afraid. Yep. I got eyes on passenger door. It's not moving. I got door. Do not see movement. No movement. >> Get out. [screaming] GET OUT. >> GET OUT. GET OUT. >> GET OUT NOW. >> Come out now. >> I don't see anything. Got your cover. Cover. Got it. Got it. >> Nothing. Floorboard. Floorboard. >> Get her. Got cover. Got cover. Grab the belt. Grab a belt. Grab the belt. >> You got that door. Can't see. >> Where's fire? >> Fire extinguisher at least. >> Fire. Go ahead. Come up here. We need extinguisher >> behind you. >> I got driver door. >> Let me see if I can stop. got your back. >> That's lethal. >> Go back. Fire extinguisher up. >> No. We need an extinguisher. >> Get a baton. >> Moving to your left. Go ahead. God dang on you. Go. What's that? >> You guys get him out or Driver's still in. Passenger got We got her out. We had to remove her from vehicle. Working on her back there. >> You guys get a heads up on this. I had to give her a girl. >> After getting them out of the car, officers discovered that Hoie Jr. had ended Palomo's life before taking his life. In another case, when killer girlfriends realize that they had been caught. 33-year-old Britney Hall claimed that she had memory loss after [music] she had tragically shot her boyfriend. >> Did you hear a gunshot? >> No. >> Huh? >> No. I don't know what happened, but I heard him say that in the back. >> I don't know. Like I don't know if I did. I don't remember. I remember holding him and kissing him [laughter and gasps] and he was just bleeding out. >> On June the 16th, 2023, deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office responded to an apartment after reports of a loud bang coming from inside. They rushed to the scene, unaware that they were stepping straight into one of those moments where [music] love turns bitter. an encounter that would leave them questioning the very idea of what love can become. >> All right. What's going on? She's holding pressure on a wound on the back that she won't let anyone see. And I took this correct check. I was waiting to make sure Florida >> temperature going to be attached to a yellow going to be >> okay. >> Who is here? >> That guy. >> Yeah. I told him not to leave that. >> That's it. >> These two. Yeah. >> Here, >> buddy. >> Can I move back? >> Can I move back easier though? >> Huh? >> It was fired. >> What were you guys doing? >> Put it back. >> Yeah, I was. Get get her outside now. >> 416 traffic. >> You don't know. I don't know. >> Take a seat over there. >> 37B MNP on a black Jeep. A >> Did you hear a gunshot? >> No. >> Huh? >> No. I went to sleep. Oh, I want to see you. >> Meanwhile, other officers were talking to the victim's roommate who had reported the incident earlier, but nothing prepared them for what he was about to say next. >> All right. Why don't you walk me through what happened? >> Um, it's probably like >> a timeline of call like 3 minutes before I called 911. I heard a scream and her walking down the hallway and said my name and it's they got up out of bed. I had been asleep maybe two hours but knew something was wrong. I came out in the living room and saw Tyler was incoherent bleeding from somewhere in his back. >> I don't know from what or whatnot, but I know if it was gone I would have heard it like I don't know what exactly how it happened. >> What's going on the After interrogating him, the officers placed him and the suspect under the watch of one of the officers while they continued their investigation, not knowing what they were going to find. >> Listen, I really I have to leave. >> That's I can't that's not up to me. >> Okay. Well, it's not up to you, but it's definitely my body. So I have to use the restroom like whether like you or I really say so like it's going to happen. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I don't know what you want me to do. >> Hold it. >> I cannot hold it. It's literally about something. >> As the investigation continued, a detective was invited to thoroughly interrogate her as they continued their search for the truth. >> Detective Costa, I work for the sheriff's office. Detective McN here. We're here trying to gather some information about what happened this morning. Okay. Sorry to have to tell you this, but Ta passed away. That's why we're all here. Okay. >> That's why it's it's important for us to figure out what happened. >> I don't know. I have no idea. >> We don't know either. We're just showing up. We're trying to figure it out after the fact. Okay. So, we got a couple of questions. Before we start asking those questions, we have some stuff we have to read. I'm sure we watch our day back in the day. All right, >> Tyler, I'm not alive. >> How much do you think he drank last night? >> A lot. >> Like five or six beers, like two bottles of rum. I don't know. A lot. >> A lot. Like I don't know. I drank probably more selzers and then Tyler to the store and came back with beers and so I can't tell you how many of those I had really don't know cuz they were going to fall on the table and I threw them all in the box. So >> what's the next thing that you remember? >> Highland. >> What? >> Oldings. >> Balding Highlands. Yeah. Where where were you at? >> The kitchen. >> Do you remember how you got to the kitchen? So you laid down in bed with you, Tyler, and the dogs. And then the next thing they remember you were in the kitchen. Okay. And where was Tyler? >> Calm down. >> Remember how he was laying? Oh, it's lady. Huh? Him make any statements to anybody? Okay. Did you walk away from Tyler at any point before the the police showed up or you holding that thing the whole time? Hi. Okay. Do you remember Tyler getting out of bed at any point last night? Huh? So >> you don't know how he got from that to the >> huh? >> No. >> No. There >> been any history of domestic violence between you guys? >> Well, that said you had our like fights >> fights like arguing yell in this room back and forth. >> That's the big step. Any punches, pushes? No. I've been physical. You don't remember what made you get up and leave the bed last night? Do you think you were intoxicated to the point that you don't remember? Or >> I honestly don't even feel like this is real, right? Like right now. >> Takes time to set in. Sure. Is there any reason that would have been a pistol on the ground in the living room? >> I I put it there. I would say I don't >> sense. Do you remember having any point last night? There's no pushing last night, shoving, punches, nothing that could have caused any other injuries to him. At the point where the police showed up, was he still moving around a little bit? Semiconscious, >> not a lot. Was he able to try to say anything or move his lips or >> you don't remember him saying anything? It >> didn't seem like so much of a task to keep up with the acts. She truly believed she [music] could trick the officers into thinking she was overwhelmed with grief, saying that he remembers, "I lived on the ground. You were behind them." And Tyler made the statement, "Call 911. You should just shot me." Do you remember that? Is there any reason why you might have said that? Yeah, some was possible. >> There's a fairly large gap in your memory. So, I tell you right now, the only story that we have points to you shooting One thing that's going to help us try to figure out what happened was he uh let us take swabs of your hands. >> That's something you would be consenting to let us do. >> Well, we don't know who fired the gun. That's gonna help us figure it out. >> Would you be willing to consent to us taking a swab of your hands? >> I I don't I don't think so. >> I have blood all over my hands. I don't know. You guys know I have Tyler's blood all over me. >> At that point, she knew it was only a matter of time before the truth surfaced. Cornered by desperation, she realized she had to think fast and come up with something convincing before it was too late. Okay. So, can you start me from what what's the pretending you remember now? >> I don't know. Like I don't know. Like I don't know why would he ever do that to me? I don't. >> Okay. So, you guys are in bed. >> I don't know. I don't know what started. I don't know. >> Okay. What do you remember? >> Strangling me like you was trying to and my esophagus and everything. >> Can I just take a look at your neck? >> Okay. >> Up here. >> Everything. I remember it. The wall. >> Okay. >> Because I can take a look at the side of your neck. >> The wall. He put me up on the wall. Tyler told that to me one time before. >> Okay. So, you're in bed and and what how do you wake up? >> I have no idea. I I just don't know. I just know that I remember not being able to breathe and he was like crushing my esophagus. >> All right. And where was he? >> Like on his side of the bed, but like up. >> All right. What happened next? >> I don't know. I probably was definitely screaming. I remember trying to scream because I was trying to wake him to help me. >> Okay. >> And I remember his screaming really loud and he just kept doing it. He did it more than once and like I tried to get away. >> Mhm. >> And go out the room and he followed me and pin me up against that wall. He held me up by my throat. >> You say held you up like off the ground. >> Yeah. Like >> Okay. >> Uh you know I don't I don't I don't know why. >> Do you remember how you uh got out of that situation? No. >> What's the next thing that you remember after being up against the wall? >> Makes sense. >> It seems like you're describing a relatively violent encounter there. >> Yeah. Were was there a like a a fight at that point or were you throwing punches and scratches? I mean, if someone's strangling me, >> I'm fighting as hard as I can to get away from that, right? >> Yeah, I I did cuz he pinned me up against the wall. I >> Okay. >> I didn't know what else to do and then he got really mad. I don't know. >> Do you remember what you were doing to try to escape? Do you think you might have scratched him or punched him or >> I'm sure all of it. I don't know. Okay. >> [laughter] >> I don't know. >> All right, give you a second. Okay. [laughter] [laughter] >> Hang out. [laughter] >> Did you reach over to the nightstand and grab the gun to scare him? >> I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I would never want to hurt him ever. I I don't know. Like I don't know if I did. I don't remember. I remember holding him and kissing him [laughter and gasps] and he just bleeding. This is a lot. I don't I I don't even I don't I cannot comprehend this right now. I this is too much of that. >> Just when it seemed like the cops were interested in her narrative, she decided it was time to spice up her story. Although it was most likely going to be futile, it was brave. No, he kept screaming at me, saying things that like weren't making sense, like calling me like you [ __ ] and saying that like he was going to teach me a lesson and that like just that made no sense at all. And he was just like, "Look at what you're doing to me." And I was like like I'm not doing anything at all. This makes no sense. You're not making any sense. Like just go back to bed. Like >> when you were up against the wall, did you have the feeling like this is it? >> Uh, I thought he was going to rip my esophagus out of my skin. He was like crushing it. >> So he wasn't just pushing. He was like squeeze >> crushing my throat. Like I couldn't make noise or breathe at all. Like Yeah. He He was trying to really was honestly he was trying to >> and he almost did. >> It sounds like it. >> Yeah. But then what? Like do you spend your life for surviving or do you what happens to people? I don't know what happened. I could like make up a story that I feel like I would do. I would go out of the room to get away from him. What happened after that? I don't I don't know. I don't even remember leaving the room >> really. >> We don't want you to make up anything. But what happens to me? Like, do I go on trial or do I what what happens? I really don't know what happened. Then what? How I mean, how does this end regardless? Like, do I go and sit in jail? >> Well, we have to do our investigation and find out who did this to him. >> Yeah. Um, but I'm going to be 100% honest with you. At this point, it looks like you did. >> Yeah. Well, I think we all got got that part. >> Yeah. Well, that's just me being honest with you. >> So then what? Like I sit in jail awaiting trial for murder. >> Well, it can if you can tell us. Although she didn't admit to the crime that she had committed, her statements were strong [music] indications that she was guilty and ready to face the consequences of her actions. Well, the cops knew that they needed more than mere suggestive statements to convict her. [music] So, they turned to the victim's roommate again. >> I've just since I've lived with them, I maybe saw like three somewhat yelling arguments, like nothing physical ever. Like, >> how was the mood when you when you walked home? >> It was great. Everybody was getting along fine. I felt like it was a normal good night, you know? I don't know how to even picture it. It just makes me sick. I don't I can't say what happened cuz I don't know, but he was coherent here when I came by him and I just seen the blood and it's just I saw a pistol. I don't even know what happened. I just saw a lot of blood. But I did see a gun sitting there in a holster which I'm pretty sure was his. I never heard the shot if that's what happened. I didn't I didn't get woken up by that. I got woken up by her yelling and the little bit I got out of him like I I don't I didn't see it. I don't know what happened, but I heard him say that shot in the back. Mumbled it. >> And was he like in and out point >> and you mentioned that he had said something to you when >> Yeah. But it's like I didn't see nothing. let us know what he said cuz I was trying to figure out what the what the hell happened and I'm pretty sure he said that shot me in the back. >> Where was she when he said that? >> Right there. >> Did he notice anything about her? >> Did he say anything else? >> Was he still? >> No, he did say one other thing is um like when I first I'm like Tyler what's what happened? What happened? He's like just call 911. And that's what I called. And let me set the other part. But um >> has anyone here told you about your buddy? >> No. They I've been asking, but no. >> Sorry to tell you. Passed away. >> Oh my god. >> I had a feeling that's why they weren't saying those. >> Brittany was eventually convicted of seconddegree murder and sentenced to 40 years in prison. Unlike other killer girlfriends who single-handedly took out their partners, Courtney Clenny decided to make it a family affair, conniving with her parents to intentionally take the life of 27-year-old Christian Openelli before waving a self-defense claim. >> Relax. Relax. >> Why? It was It was self I mean, I was self-defense, but I'm going to be covered in blood. I look crazy. I was holding him while he was spurting blood. to inform you that Christian did not make it. >> I have to cancel the Ashley. I'm supposed to be here in 30 minutes. >> Oh, okay. >> No, I'm not okay. >> I know. >> On April the 3rd, 2022, at around 5:00 p.m., 911 responded to [music] a call from a luxury apartment building in Miami's Edgewater neighborhood where Only Fans model, 26-year-old Courtney Clenny, lives with [music] her boyfriend, 27-year-old Christian Toby Opum. When first responders arrived, they [music] were met with the sight unsettling to the core. The victim had a single stab wound to his upper chest and the suspect was covered in red bodily fluid. That prompted them to swing into action without wasting any time. >> I can't let this go. >> Wait, it wasn't >> relax. >> Why you guys >> relax? What's going on? What do you have? >> Relax. >> What do you >> guys sit down here? [laughter] >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> Sit down. >> Just let me down. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> Baby, come here. Just sit down. >> Homicide's the one responding for TV. >> Wait. Sit down. Sit down. >> Okay. No, I'll sit down. I just I just Are you scared? >> Sit down. >> He's not dead, is he? >> Uh, no. They're taking him to the hospital right now. >> He's in the hospital right now. >> I I need to be at the hospital with him. >> Oh, you're not going anywhere. >> Why? because we're conducting an investigation. >> It was free. It was self I mean I was self-defense. I mean my mom was on the phone. >> You're good. Well, listen. The detectives are coming. You're going to talk to them and then you're going to explain yourself. >> But yo, but I'm going to be covered in blood. I look crazy. I was holding him while he was squirting blood trying to stop the blood. >> Even like tell >> Okay. So, you guys started arguing. Then what happened? >> Um threw me against the wall. Chubby and you're looking like this. He's never like choked to where like it's like >> crazy stuff, but like I mean I couldn't breathe. Then he put me on the floor. >> So he throws you against the wall. >> Then he put me on the ground. Choke me. That's happened two other times. >> Did he tell you anything that >> um like like that kind of face like where I was really scared and I was trying to get him off and he wouldn't get off. Then he gets off. Then I called my mom. >> Okay. My mom. >> And then I was like I went into the other room and I was talking to her and I was like crying and saying like like something has happened. I'm like, I don't know what's going on with Christian. And I was I was just like crying, [music] whatever. And then like I went to the kitchen and he started like charging at me and I said like, "I'm going to like the statue." And he goes, "Do it." And they charging him and threw but he was far away and I never in a million years like he like I'm I'm >> He threw a statue at you. >> No, no, no. It was the the the >> not even I said like I was just holding it to be like please don't come anywhere near me. My my boyfriend's water is all over. >> I know, but you can't. Unfortunately, you can't go in there. You can't you can't go to the apartment. >> 4220. >> Okay. Um >> I have um on >> 45. >> So on on the inside >> on the inside, not like not like a full couch, but on like the the couch >> just like a loose like comfortable shirt. I think there there's like t-shirts or whatever in >> and then and then there's a pair of gray NBA like I need to I need I need to go to the hospital. >> I have to give a stair. >> That's fine. That's fine. Can I go to the hospital? >> Can I say bye? Can I say I'll be right back. I'll be right back. Considering all that had happened, the officers found it disturbing that she was more concerned about something else. And this prompted a question in their heart. Did her boyfriend mean nothing to her? >> Baby, don't. This is my number. You call me >> friend. He already saw the third lady. Okay. >> She was later taken to the police station for questioning. By then, officers were certain that she had ended her boyfriend's life. What they never anticipated, however, was just how far she was willing to go to make sure they believed her version of events. >> Have to inform you that Christian did not make it. >> Um, unfortunately, the doctors did what they could and >> Christian is dead. >> Oh my god. >> Her pretense was too glaring to be ignored. And after a thorough investigation, she was eventually charged with seconddegree murder. But just when the officers thought that they had served justice [music] to the suspect, they made a shocking discovery 2 years later. The suspect had accompllices, [music] her parents. So they quickly moved in on them. >> Ashley supposed to be here in 30 minutes? >> Nobody. >> No, I'm not okay. >> I know he hurt you. I understand physically. [music] >> Certainly understand. The suspect's parents, Kim and Tborora Clenny, were accused [music] of tampering with evidence and allegedly hacking into the victim's laptop after his demise. After thorough investigation, [music] the couple, as well as their daughter, were all charged with one count of unauthorized access or excessive access to a computer, computer system, or electronic device, a thirdderee felony in Florida. [music] Up next is 25-year-old Hannah Cobb, who accidentally took the life of her boyfriend, 30-year-old Telvin Osborne, while she was cleaning her firearm. Step out. Step out. Step out. >> Woman, you want a pork nugget? >> I'm sorry, sir. I swear it was a It was an accident. I just pulled it back and when I did to check the chamber, I pulled the drink on accident. >> On February the 23rd, 2025, 25-year-old Hannah Cobb called the Burke County Sheriff's Office to report a domestic accident at her home. Cops rushed over to meet her, practically frantic and still shaken by what had happened. But that wasn't going to stop them from getting answers to the many questions on their mind. >> Work out of the sheriff's office. >> Come in. >> Get her out of here. Step out. Step out. Step out. Step out. Step out. Step out. Step out. Step out. >> Woman. You want to work? Get Hey, give just stand right here with him. >> Hey, where? Hey, breathe [laughter] for me. Okay. Breathe. Breathe. Look at me. Breathe. >> Yes, sir. >> Breathe. >> It's my baby. My baby. [laughter] I shot him on accident. I didn't mean to. >> Let's step out here. You got You got some pants. All right. Where's your pants at? >> Step in the drawer in the third drawer. Or the progress. >> WE HAVE PROGRESS. HE'S OKAY. >> LET'S GO OUT HERE. >> HEY, give me some pants right there, Johnson. For her. Step back up here. I don't want you going up. >> Oh, yes. I don't take the ones I was holding him with. >> 10 for send them in. We have to see if you are in progress. Hand me >> get the ones out the laundry. All right. Come on. Let's go get another one. >> Right here. Right here. Right here. >> They're going to be dirty. Got him on. >> Standing right over here. >> So sorry. >> It's okay. >> They're currently in route to your location. >> Is he okay? >> Don't have stage. Send them on in. >> Is he breathing? >> We're going to handle that in a minute. Just put your pants on. Okay. >> All right. Let's step out here. >> I'll get you some shoes. >> Hey. Hey. Hey. Breathe for me. Okay. Okay. Just breathe for me. Okay. Take take a deep breath. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. In through your nose and out through your mouth. Breathe. Okay. Breathe. Breathe. >> Thank you. >> All right. You want to go have a seat in the car real quick so you can get warmed up and stuff? >> We're going to walk right over here to this car. Okay. Hey, is your car unlocked? We're going to have a seat right here in the back seat of this car. Okay. Hey, just breathe. Okay, breathe. >> I'm about to put you in a car. >> My baby. My baby. Why is nobody here? >> Hey, the other side. The other side for me. Okay. >> Why is nobody >> there? Where's your child at? >> My children are with my mother. We went out tonight and we just we got home recently and and we were just checking my gun for when we got in and I pulled it back and the safety wasn't on. I didn't check it first. That was my fault. And I just I just looked at it and I pulled the trigger on accident. No problem. >> Yeah. All right. So, just give me one second. Okay. I got to get my notebook and stuff. I just need you to breathe for me. Okay. All right. Stay right there. >> Sorry. Please just >> Hey, will you do me a favor? Grab me a notepad and a note or something to write with. >> I was just looking down the barrel and my my finger was on the trigger and that was my fault for not having proper gun safety. And I pulled the I pulled the chamber back and look to look in it. But before I did, I my finger was on the trigger and that was my fault. That was my fault. And I'm so sorry for not having proper gun safety and I shot my baby. I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to. It looks like I was about to take the clip out and everything and I just didn't mean to. However, a grand jury ultimately returned a no bill for the suspect. Like a scene ripped straight from hell. A twisted love triangle led to the tragic death of 26-year-old Jesse Gohagen after his girlfriend allegedly masterminded his demise. >> You did not survive. >> You're sweville showed up with two with his two kids in the car and got out and started an an altercation with Jesse. Um and this is all over female. This is all over girl. What's her name? Alyssa. A black friend. and then she comes back to the car and she throws something in the car and then she goes and walks her little dog. >> On October 29th, 2022, dispatch responded to a residence following multiple reports of several shots ringing out from a house on Medford Avenue when deputies of the Escambia County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene. They found a man later identified as 26-year-old Jesse Ghagen, severely wounded and barely alive. They quickly swung into action, working around the clock to save the victim, whose life was hanging by a thread. But what they didn't know was that they were just about to uncover the tragic story of love, disappointment, and conspiracy. >> What we got? 331. We need EMS gunshot victim inside the house. >> Anybody else in here? >> No. In the back room, please don't go in there. >> I got a chest. >> Are you shot, bud? >> Yeah. back. The paramedics arrived [music] in no time and took over the situation. With the victim in the care of the paramedics, the deputies turned to the only witness, 22-year-old Alisa Mary Blackburn, who happened to be the victim's girlfriend. >> Hey, what happened? >> I was down the street walking my dog and they saw him. >> Who shot him? >> I don't know. >> Did you find him like this? >> Yeah. I just had to kick in the back door cuz nobody was nagging. >> So, do you live here? >> Yes. >> Who is that gentleman to you? >> It's my boyfriend. >> Are you the one that called 911? >> No. [music] Who called 911 cuz it was a female? >> I called 911 cuz I need to go to stop. >> Why? Why are you lying to me? You understand me? Stop. Don't start lying to me. YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT'S STANDING THERE? I need proof. >> Who did it? What do you mean? >> THEN DON'T TELL ME YOU DIDN'T CALL. >> You're going to get me shot out here. You realize that we're clear. That's my life, too. >> What's your last name? >> Black Flag. I don't think you realize I'm risking and calling y'all for real. >> Before you left to walk the dog, was he by himself? >> Yeah. No, there was a Yeah, there was nobody else here. >> And he wasn't like that, right? >> No, he was not like that. He was fine. He was in the room and he was not bleeding on the ground. >> Who else lives here? >> This is I don't even know whose house was cuz I just got here like two days ago. I swear to God, I just moved here. All my stuff's in that back bedroom, but my dog's in there. >> The glass was it broken before you left? >> Was it out here when you left? Walked the dog. >> Okay. >> Oh my god. Just >> step over here. Did you get a view? >> I I don't know, honey. I'm I'm sure he's he's talking to us. So, yes, cuz he just gave us some He just gave us a bunch of information. Okay. >> I don't want nobody to see me. Oh my god. >> Talk to you. Okay. >> Okay. >> Let's call your parents. Okay. >> Seeing how frantic Alyssa was, they realized they couldn't extract any more useful information from her. She had already offered a few disjointed responses. And while it raised suspicion, [music] officers chose to believe that she was still in shock and struggling to process what had happened. With that, they turned their attention to the neighbors, hoping someone could provide a clue that would help piece the story together. >> I heard two gunshots about 10:00 this morning, and I saw a little black car, but um come and go and come back, you know. I don't know if they had anything to do with it, but they were It was like they just took off from right over here. >> Did you hear some gunshots? >> Yeah, I heard four of them >> over here. >> Mhm. I just seen a black boy and a white boy just getting in the car. I seen the white come out with the gun in his hand. >> What kind of uh vehicle? >> Um it's like a beat up old school looking Toyota Camry and he came out the door. He said, "I told the mother play with me." >> Was it a black boy or white boy that got shot? >> White guy got shot. >> The one that lived there tattoos. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. That's They always going back and forth >> with with different [music] people. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Have you ever seen that cart in the area before? That white guy? >> Always there. The camera's always there. >> Yeah. >> At first, they wanted a clue. Then they got more than just a clue. Now, the deputies knew that they had two suspects that needed to be found immediately. So, they went over to Alyssa to ask her just one more question. >> Does anybody else live here with you and Jesse? >> I don't know who is here. We don't [music] cuz there's people here all in and out on So, I'm not going to lie. Um, there's a dude named uh he sleeps on the couch sometimes, I guess. I don't know. I don't know cuz he was like, "I'm going to let you stay here cuz you stayed in tip." But, the way they were talking sounded like he just got here. See how people like >> they had me there that >> at that point the officers had one last move to solving the mystery behind that incident. >> David >> David Preston. You know David? >> How do you know him? >> Experience. >> Experience. >> Yes. >> I got in trouble. The only two times I've been in trouble. >> Gotcha. >> Well, I'm investigating Martinez. I work with David. So I know. Yeah. That being said, [music] we want to get some information as far as like how long you guys been living there, who lives there. >> 2 days, 2 3 days. [clears throat] >> We just got there. I don't like if I have my phone exactly, but they didn't let me get my phone. >> I don't But it wasn't in I don't I can't remember where it was, but >> Okay. And the only reason I'm asking is cuz like I said, we haven't we have to get a search warrant in order to get the house. >> So, >> once we get into the house and we look around, if something's missing him, like his cell phone. >> Yeah. Then maybe we can possibly start start tracking and find it. >> No, I'm not going to question you at all. >> So that's why I was asking, you know, I'm not asking like, but maybe something's missing and maybe we can track it and be like, >> I know y'all are just trying to help for real. I'm not that type of person. I know y'all are just trying to help. >> Okay. All right. So, it's just you and Jesse that live in that house. >> No. Um, there's two males there and [music] it was Jesse, but there's people in and out of there all the time. You know what I I mean, it's like literally like a ghetto trap kind of like out, you know, [music] you haven't seen the house, but the whole house is like trashed almost. I tried to clean it up and I'm off before kind of stuff like that cuz I don't know where to go. But um there's a dude name fresh water. I know cuz he sleeps on the couch and I know he was getting help from somebody dude who lives there, I guess, on a regular >> um trying to get off of. >> Okay. >> Been a black male, white male. >> He's white. >> Okay. >> Yeah, he's tall. He's real tall. It's like um real tall to me. I'm like 5 foot. >> Start from what did you do today? Okay. From when you got up. >> Um I woke up on the couch and u was on the couch across from me and uh Justin was sitting in his chair. It's in the uh living room whenever he I called my mom and daddy cuz I was supposed to go over there. Um there's voicemail. I don't remember exact. >> Yeah. But the other dude that lives there, he wasn't there. He He was supposed to be going to get a hotel room with a girl the night before. So, he hasn't been there. >> Who's that? >> Um I think it's >> okay. >> It starts with >> Yeah, he wasn't there at all. We go to my new house where we're building cuz we're moving into we just closed on it. So, we go over there. Um she has somebody else come and get her to um go through her paperwork for [music] work and stuff like that cuz we're moving. Um and and I don't know who it was >> because it don't work it out. Um FedEx and stuff like that. And then >> this person come pick you up. Did you call them to come pick you up or they showed up? >> Um it's it's a friend. Um I don't really know know him like that. You know what I'm saying? Jesse doesn't like anybody to know where he stay at all because what he does. And [music] obviously I know he does. You know what I'm saying? Cuz I told the police. I don't know if y'all talked to police yet. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. And um allegedly. [music] >> Well, it's important. >> I don't even know if I just used that right. Yeah, he sells drugs. >> And what kind of car did this person pick you up? >> A black car. [music] >> Yeah. I don't know. What kind of car? >> It was just black. >> It's a paint that doesn't even have the emblems on it. >> Did you see it? >> I didn't paint. >> Yeah, it was black. >> Like it was spray painted. >> I don't Yeah, maybe. I don't know. >> It was >> I know it was black though. I don't I >> like old Toyota or something like that. >> I don't know. >> It was definitely a small sedan. Um >> was a sedan. >> I say [music] the car, correct? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, maybe. Um Well, that's >> I think it's four-door. >> What's his name? The guy that come and got you. >> I don't know him. That's what I'm saying. [music] >> Well, how' you call him? >> Jesse. I didn't I didn't call him. I said I didn't call him. >> Oh, he just showed up at the house. >> Yeah. [music] My brother Well, my brother knows him and Jesse knows him and all kind of stuff like that. Like he comes around all the time and hangs out with him. I don't associate myself to people that eat a diet. I'm not allowed to even be at the house by myself. >> Is he white or black? >> He's white [music] for sure. >> Can you describe him to us? >> Well, he's kind of ghetto. Well, >> now he's ghetto. He's got [music] >> he's got tattoos until he's been to jail. >> 20s, 30s, >> at least like his late 20s. >> After skillfully extracting all the information they needed about the individuals involved without her even realizing it, they decided it was time to rattle her with an update on the victim's condition. I did just get off the phone with the doctor's office and he did not survive. You swear to God [screaming] you can't leave me. Yeah, we can get you out of here. [music] Raise your right hand. [laughter] >> Somebody killed your boy. >> YEAH, I CALLED THE POLICE. I TRIED TO SAVE HIS [screaming] LIFE. [music] >> I tried to make him do better, bro. I tried. I'm the only one who gave a about him. No, you don't. I'm being serious. You don't get it. [laughter] >> No, that nobody. I'm the only one who called the police when he overdosed. Guys, not even his mom again by herself. >> She appeared genuinely distraught over her boyfriend's death and clearly not in the mood for further questioning. The detectives released her. What she hadn't anticipated, however, was how quickly her facade would crumble. Just 8 hours later, the police located one of the roommates Alyssa had earlier mentioned and brought him in for questioning. >> All right, ma'am. So, let's start from the very beginning. Okay. >> Yes, sir. Now, I know before you missed before you came in here, you said he knows who did it and who he can get us hooked up with that person and everything else cuz he tried me catching up with you at Tom Film yesterday. [music] So, before we get into all the details, who is that person that actually pulled the trigger? [snorts] >> It's Jacob Coville. >> Okay. Who was the black guy that was there with you? >> I've never seen him before in my life. >> Okay. Uh, if you were shown a picture of him, would you be able to possibly recognize him? >> Should be able to. >> Okay. How long have you known Kovville? >> Uh, Kville I met I think 2018. um in uh Walton County. He was a uh we were in the same little little pod together in Walton County. Pville uh Povville showed up with two with his two kids in the car and got out and started an an altercation with Jesse. Um and this is all over female. This is all over girl. What's her name? Melissa Black, I mean I guess Kovville was in love with his girlfriend or something. I'm not even sure who the girl liked if she liked either of them or not. And I thought they were supposed to [music] be friends, but no. As soon as as soon as the girl comes out of the house and says Jesse's inside, they didn't hesitate to, oh, she was leaving. No, they went right inside my house. Then they go down the hallway and they look through the first room, look through the second room, and I'm and I'm I'm at this point I'm I'm playing stupid. I'm like, what's going on, guys? And I I don't know what's going on. I wasn't watching. I didn't have I did not have my head turned turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn turn went went down down the hallway but there was two gunshots and I hear I hear screaming and there's two gunshots and then uh by the time I I look down the hallway I see [music] Cojo backing up like with the guns on Jesse and Jesse looked like he had blood right here maybe like in the stomach and and [music] the upper the chest or the shoulder and and even when he was on the ground he shot another couple couple rounds How many rounds total? I can't [music] >> quite a few. >> Yeah. I can't even tell you. Whenever the Koffield and the black guy run out run out the front door, they they took off. >> What happened to the DVR? >> I could [music] I could show it to you. >> Do you have it? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> And there's a camera. >> Yeah, I noticed. >> They retrieved the DVR and after reviewing the footage, they decided to bring in the second roommate for questioning. Someone they had only uncovered from the video as Alyssa had never mentioned him. that little black uh Toyota Camry or Avalon or whatever it was. You know the car they showed up in? Yes. Whose car is that? >> I think it goes. >> He burnt it. >> He what? >> He he burned it. >> Did he? >> Well, yeah. So, do you remember any of the conversation that was going on in the house? Like when when they come back, you told them that Jesse's hiding in the back, correct? >> Yeah. [snorts] >> Okay. What What was being said after that? >> Nothing. They were so quiet. Okay. >> They were just creeping through the house looking for Jesse and they they didn't find him at first. Do >> you remember seeing Alyssa come in with a gun? >> Who? >> Alyssa, his girlfriend Jesse's. No. >> When she first walks into the house and you're on the couch, you know, she's she's [clears throat] holding the gun cuz you know we have the DVR. >> Yeah. Yeah. I did notice that. Um Kovville did say um to Jesse, he said he said, "Mother, I ain't going to shoot you. I ain't going to shoot you." And he was shooting him the whole time cuz Jesse would say that Kovville would never shoot him. You know what I mean? >> Cobalt shop. >> Do you know where Cobalt might be right now? >> I have absolutely no idea, man. >> We already have one of the three. So >> Oh, do you? >> Yeah. >> One of the three. >> There's another person that helped them out later. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> With the footage laying bare exactly what had happened and clearly showing the faces of everyone inside the house. There was nowhere left to hide. Officers tracked down 47year-old Lawrence Bonner, identified as a second accomplice, and brought him in for intense questioning. >> We want to know why he reached out to you, what he told you, cuz we already know you participated there. We know you didn't pull the trigger, but at this point, you literally have one opportunity to talk about this. Otherwise, you are, and I'm going be very straight with you. >> And if you want to see the video, >> yeah, we'll show you the video. Do you want to see it? >> Okay. >> You text uh they just asked if I wanted. >> Perfect. How is this going to help me though, man? >> Why? Because you didn't pull the trigger. I mean, I see your face in there. I mean, you acting like, "What the going on?" [music] >> I'm still going I'm still going to end up going to jail. >> You You are going to go to jail. But the difference is is whether if you decide to be honest and to [music] help out and then hopefully the courts will show leniency that you've helped out and you've been honest, that [ __ ] went down fast or however it went down. [music] But not saying nothing. That video makes you look guilty as hell, bro. All right. You ready? He looking for him. A found him yet. Oh, there you go. Oh, he dropped his pistol. Trying to get on like what the Here, hold this gun. There you go. Now, give me that gun. There you go. Oh, let me go ahead and finish him off right here. Snap. Snap. >> No, wait. He's not done yet, though. >> Oh, [ __ ] My gun. Let me get it. >> Oh, damn. Oh, let me give him one more. Which he did right there. >> So, now get over that [ __ ] Hey, talk to my girl, man. I talk to y'all, man. I really don't know him. >> But you know him by sight. You seen him around? >> I seen him around. You know, he off he offered me a ride. I took the ride, right? Yeah. We pulled up at the house. the the girl in the car, the girl like she was just like saying that the dude [music] was sell something about the busted the windows. Busted the windows or some [ __ ] like that though. And then old girl, she's knocking on the door trying to get in. >> Yeah. >> And then she comes back to the car and she throws something in the car and then she goes and walks [music] her little dog and then the rest of it self-explanatory. We see the shots that happen and all that. Y'all walk back outside and y'all get in the car and where's the [music] girl? Does she get in the car with y'all? >> Not yet. Don't rand up. >> Okay. >> Following his confession, he was officially identified as an accomplice and booked into jail. A week later, 32-year-old Jacob Kovville was tracked down in Eustace, [music] Florida. In the end, Alyssa was convicted as a principal to seconddegree murder, while Jacob was convicted of intentionally taking a life with both receiving life sentences. Bonner, on the other hand, was sentenced to 5 years in prison with 1,046 days credited for time already served.
