You stand by with him and then uh Yeah, I'll grab some paperwork. I'm going to go and talk to the people. So, you show up here and mom and juvenile are in >> And And they're in a room together. Going in the room and trying to talk to both of them. Um the daughter like walks up to me with her arms out like trying to give me a hug and the mom like snatches her by her arm and like yanks her back and like jolts her body. I was like, "Yeah, we're not going to do that, ma'am, especially when DCFS is here to take your kid." >> So, I was like Yeah, oh yeah. I was like >> were more or less they were going to take Cassie the child and mom knew about it and she was making verbal comments to the kid about going to Well, I was like, "Ma'am, you're going to step across the room away from your kid or you're going to go in handcuffs one or two." Told her repeatedly, told her repeatedly, tried to guide her and pushed her, we tried to put her in handcuffs, she kept popping all around and tensing up around me. So, what do you got? So far, cat bite and what else? Cat bite, crying, resisting. So, the kid kid's away at this point. That's the guy that All right, so I didn't have a chance to talk to you because all the I just saw that transpire, so That kiddo in there, we were having her seen for some injuries. Mom beat her with a belt. It was kind of going smoothly, we were just having her checked out and then mom kind of tried to leave with her and then at that point, that's when you guys got called. Kid has multiple injuries on her little different places on her body and different stages of healing and stuff. So, that's the reason why you guys were taking her. >> Yeah. You're taking custody of her. Is there a previous call on that? No, it's like nothing from feeding yet. No. So, there's a domestic battery that we need to report that? >> In fact, I was about to notify you guys of it and then she tried to leave, so. >> Okay. Okay. How did you get a report? So, we get a report through I'm saying sorry. Yeah. I don't know if I was supposed to say like school or otherwise. >> Yeah, yeah, she went to school with injuries, so. How old is the juvenile? She's five. Okay. Can you guys give me your name and your badge number? And your guys' name too, cuz we got to write that down for our report. Um yeah. What do you got? Cuz we had to kick him out of the way I still don't have I don't even have her name yet, either. And he was the one encouraging her to leave on the phone, telling her to leave, yeah. Yeah. Um, he His last name is He told us that. Okay. All right, so she went to school with injuries? >> Yep. So essentially, how did the injuries get connected to being hit with a belt or So she had reported they came from a belt. Mom has admitted that she hit her with a belt. >> Was that to you? Yep. Okay. Was that today or So she's saying that she didn't give an exact day. She said that it was a few days ago. Kiddo wasn't cleaning her room, so she hit her with a belt. Kiddo was in the process of running away as she was doing it, so that's why they're kind of scattered around her. There are multiple different injuries in different stages of healing that we're investigating here, but mom's only owning up to doing it once. Like just hitting her one one occasion or like >> Just that one occasion is what she's admitting to, but she does have other marks that are healing. Where are all the marks at? I have pictures of them. Okay, good. There's this one on her arm, kind of ones that are old. All right, thank you, sir. Do you know where the little girl went? She's in the room with the provider. >> All right, thank you. Hi. Hey, I was going to make sure that you're okay. I told you he was nice. She said she was trying to give you a hug. >> I know. Yeah. She was worried about mom. I said mom's okay, so she was just a little angry, needed to help get him calm down. Sweetheart, do you have any questions for us or can we help you with anything? What you got? Uh, I was trying to tell you that when I was at school, guess what? What's that? Someone just said, "Stop looking at me, stupid." I didn't like that. >> Yeah? You didn't like that? No, I didn't like that because that was so mean. Yeah? Now, so that was raising my hand, but the teacher didn't call me. What's your favorite class in school? Those girls keep on actually bullying me, too. What's that? >> Those girls keep on bullying me, too. This is her opportunity to write out the bullying. >> Yeah. You got bullies at school? Well, tell them to stop being mean to you. Mom. You seem pretty cool. You have a better day, okay? Yep. I'm going to read you your Miranda rights. Just listen to them real quick. I'm going to ask you some further questions if you're willing to talk to us, okay? All right, you have the right to remain silent. Having any rights in mind that you want to speak with me any further? Yeah, unfortunately got to go to jail today, okay? Because of what? So, the first thing is going to be the aggravated aggravated battery to me. It's cuz you shoved me. You did shove me away. I was trying to I mean, I was trying to just guide you away from her kid. That's all I was trying to do. I I was I wasn't trying to separate. I was just trying to move you across the room. You can still be in the same room with her, but Well, when you snatch her up like that in front of me, I got to have a duty to intervene, okay? I can't just let that stuff I wasn't going to snatch her. So, you're going for that, you're going for the resisting arrest, and you're going for the child domestic battery. All righty. What brought you to the hosp- or not the hospital, but the here. Fresh care, yeah. So, whenever we have an injury, we always recommend that a kiddo be seen. So, I kind of told her we needed to go have the kiddo seen and evaluated for it. >> So, you went over to talk to her about Yep, in the house. Yep. And then they basically came over here. Yep. Um can I just see the pictures one more time? We have an idea of when these newer injuries occurred. So, the the newest one, the way it was kind of described, obviously younger kiddos aren't too good at dates. It was kind of seeming like this weekend. And you think those were the ones from the belt or This is the one that's from the belt, this one down here. They were just older ones that we had seen whenever we actually got her under better light in here. All right, man. Appreciate it. Thanks, guys. Thank you. Yep. Just hang out this door to your left. The woman was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, domestic battery, endangering a dependent, and resisting arrest.
