while patrolling the cusa river in Floyd County Georgia on December 10th 2023 a Georgia Department of Natural Resources game warden came across two fishermen about to head home they weren't having much luck or so they said the warden checked their fishing licenses safety equipment and boat registration but then things got fishy camera recording started how you doing guys I'm State game War y'all have any luck today no no luck [Music] I got you well I was going to take a look at some fishing license right quick I got [Music] you you happen to have two life jackets on board and a fire extinguisher I have the fire exting I got [Music] you you good go man I appreciate [Music] you three three life jackets okay okay yeah as long as you got two right here all right it's in the green so you ain't got no fish and you live oil or nothing yeah you got fish in your lav can you open them up for me how how many fish you got you know the limit on white bass no no you don't know the limit no okay so can you come back here for me please you go ahead and can you go ahead and turn your truck off cuz Okay truck yeah if you want to can you go ahead and uh back your truck out what move I'll close this door and we'll uh we'll see what we can do here yeah just moved the truck over here so we ain't blocking the uh the the entrance right here okay I think it's this is Tennessee oh Georgia that one is Georgia this one's Georgia and your fishing license expired on October the 30th of 2023 okay see yeah how I don't want cuz we need to like I said I want to count all these fish and let's I stopped counting at like 50 something they had I counted 30 out and then we got the like 30 more or 20 something more in the live well still there's still a crap ton of them in the bottom of it but I wanted to get you down here to help me out with this well go through everything I mean if they don't have license and they're over the limit I good oh yeah that's what I'm but anyway yeah I'm yet but do they have registration fire extinguisher life jacket they have life jackets they have fire exting they have everything as far as the safety stuff goes so what have you done so far I'm ain't got no Georgia driver l oh okay so now two 3 together the wardens went through the fisherman's catch 29 30 all right hold up here with that's 30 okay okay you know how much put the ticket well we're still got a lot more to sort out right quick okay count out 30 more make sure one two 29 30 out all right and let him go ahead and start count 30 more output right there one two 3 27 28 28 so that's 30 and 30 60 + 2 plus 28 so 60 that's 88 fish over the limit okay you'll put all them in here please no more fish in the boat no [Music] more I checked him before lock sir no handle more fish did you run [Music] the so think they have any it's coming back to somebody else I don't thinkk you y'all don't have Georgia driver's license or Georgia IDs do you I know how driver I passport there [Music] have both fishermen received citations for possession over the daily creel limit the officer seized the 88 fish and explained to them that they were lucky not to go to jail here's your fishing license in your ID back I got to explain something to you okay I got to explain something to you okay you need to explain this to your buddy too cuz it's the same sitation here's your stuff back and here's there's your passport okay you're receiving the citation both of y'all are receiving a cation for possession over daily Krill limit okay y'all are well over the kill limit for white bass okay yall are 88 over okay okay and his citation is the same thing both y'all are getting the citation for the same thing okay but I do want you to understand something yeah you realize both of y'all could be going to jail for this right now okay you understand that yeah so the the limit is 15 per person all right so like I said both of y'all are getting salutations for the same thing y'all both yall SC dates January 9th 9: a.m. okay yall have any questions on top of the citations the fisherman had a couple other problems no driver licenses meant they needed to call someone to pick them up and their boat registration wasn't readable on one side they were lucky the wardens decided to show leniency this time you'll go to jail and they'll tow your stuff so don't do it again okay man thank you but you guys have your citations and uh you know you don't have a driver's license we're state police officers if we watch you drive off we're going to stop you cuz you legally you can't drive you can't drive go get someone here to drive you okay okay yeah keep coming in the way okay okay all right that's good you can even get your truck and pull it over there if you want to so it's out everybody's way okay just since we're in the parking lot just pull it right over there so well it's fine works at it's fine yeah he shouldn't be blocking anything until they get here and you understand everything right okay yeah I explain everything good to all right Mark pointed out that they're the registrations a little screwed up too what's that their registration is a little messed up too well I mean you just need to tell them what you're going to do or going ride him a warning or what you're going to do for your truck hey man I was going to explain something to you about your boat registration okay you know on the other side you know how your number's destroyed on the other side you can't see it you need to get that fixed you had to pick no you need to get that fixed okay yeah make sure you get the boat registration fixed yes on the other side come over here right here you see this this is all messed up you need to get that fixed okay okay you need for both sides yeah or just fix this and you see how you your numbers you can't really see them that good that's destroyed so make sure you just get get your numbers on your okay following the incident the 88 fish seized by the wardens found a new Purp they were donated to a local family in need highlighting the importance of community and responsible Resource Management I told them I made it aware to them that they need to get the registration fixed he said there's two people fishing down there I see they got Alabama tag on that car me go check them sure uh is it okay if I leave my truck running you going of course it is okay
