So, how does the bunny get in the tub? >> Does it tell rubber was a problem? >> They show me. >> What would they say? >> Tell me. >> I have a three-year-old here. >> I have a little child here. >> Give me a second. >> I got multiple wounds to the 37. >> Not all evil comes with a weapon. Sometimes it wears a loving mother's face. But what happens when their masks slip and cops catch them in the act of a horrifying crime? >> How are you? >> No. No. >> We don't know that yet. We don't know that. They're working on >> No, I'm never going to forgive that. >> So, what what happened when she showed up? >> She just come knocking on the door. I need a lighter. >> And then she said that she wanted to >> and then she dropped her phone and then she said the baby's >> What is this? >> What did I do? force will be the >> WHAT DID I DO? MOM, NO. >> Here are the times killer moms were caught in the act. Starting with Christina, a junkie mom who got high on substances and then proceeded to breastfeed her child. >> I chose medical HEALTHCARE FOR MY CHILD, TOO. DIDN'T PROTECT MY SISTER. >> You didn't do anything wrong with her. >> I should have sister. >> See, that's my mother. That woman is my mother. I don't want to be her with her. No, she just went to the drop sming her face. >> Blowing Amelia's face. >> On April the 21st, 2023, Albuquerque police were called to a home on Ralph Street after 31-year-old Christina Benet brought her unresponsive 4-month-old baby to the child's grandparents house. Deputies rushed to the scene hoping to administer life-saving care to the infant, but were met with a very frantic and disoriented Christina instead. >> You got it. You got to control her. Let go of the baby. We got to >> do the right. >> It's okay. >> How long has she been down for? >> How long has she been down for? >> I just was making my mom's house. >> Okay. How long has she been down? >> Repeat. >> Do all the camera, you know. How long is when did those happen? No, hold on. Hold on. They're doing life saving up. Okay. They're going to do everything they can. >> But we want to make sure your baby's okay and alive, right? >> That's what they're trying to do right now. I know. I know. >> I told you, Christina. I told you. Which house are you guys in? >> Baby house like >> how long was the baby uh down? You know, >> I don't know. She come to the door and said the baby's dead. >> Okay. >> 911. >> I tried calling the ball last night. They didn't even go over there and respond to Christina. She took drugs. >> Okay. They're they're trying to do their best. They're going to be doing live streaming efforts right now. Okay. >> What What did I do? >> What is this? >> What did I do? FORCE. >> WHAT DID I DO? >> AR mama. >> Come on, ma'am. >> I know that my baby is against you. >> Officers found Christina's behavior to be quite odd. What surprised officers the most was how the following statements she made didn't align with those of a concerned mother. I have right to choose medical health care for my child too. >> Weird. >> Let me see my baby. Let me hold my baby and let me wake her up. >> You're shouting right now. Was interrupted with >> LET ME WAKE I HAVE FOR EVERY RIGHT. I KNOW MY RIGHTS IN AMERICA. YOU GUYS HAVE NO RIGHT TO ENTERTAIN ME. SIT RIGHT HERE AND WAIT FOR MY BABY. >> You're welcome to sit down. >> Pat her down. She's got a 29. >> I don't have nothing. >> I don't have nothing. >> Stand up. >> I DON'T HAVE NOTHING. LET ME SEE MY BABY. MY BABY'S IN THERE. I'm not leaving my children like that. >> What are they doing to my baby? THEY CUT MY BABY'S HEAD. Why did they cut my baby's head? THEY MY BABY'S HEAD. THEY OFF HER HEAD. >> WHY did you guys off my baby's head? What did you do? I HAVE RIGHT TO REFUSE HEALTHCARE. I WANT MY BABY FOOT BACK IN MY ARMS RIGHT NOW. >> In an even more shocking turn of events, deputies on the scene discovered that Christina had an outstanding felony warrant. That coupled with her borderline psychotic behavior was enough reason for the deputies to book her in. >> Right to resist. >> Hey Christina, listen. We're not giving you medical service. You're under arrest for a felony warrant. We're going to put you in a police car. Okay. >> No, I'm not leaving my base. >> We're all Albuquerque police officers under ma'am. >> Disobey commands. Forced to be used against you. Do you understand me? Christina, >> you're under arrest. >> We're going to put you in the back of a police car. Okay. >> You can stand up on your own now. That's your final warning. I'm going to help you stand up. Okay, Christina. No. >> However, officers still had not the faintest clue of the events leading up to the baby's deteriorating condition. They then decided to talk to Christina's family for answers, starting with her distraught 12-year-old daughter, Lily. >> Hey, Lily. >> Hi. >> How are you? >> No, no, just >> we don't know that yet. They're working on okay >> we're working on okay we're right here anybody I'll be right is there anybody else in here >> you'll BE ALL RIGHT >> I'M NEVER GOING to forget that >> you go by Lily or Lilith >> Lilith >> Lilith right now we're trying to save your sister right now okay we're doing the best we can I'm hoping she's going to be okay all right >> what room does does your sister and the Mom stayed. >> I don't know. I was staying at my grandma's house, which is here. And I don't know what happened when I was gone. Didn't protect my sister. >> You didn't do anything wrong. >> I should have protected her. >> So, what what happened when she showed up? >> She just come knocking on the door. I need a lighter >> and she said that she wanted to >> and then she dropped her phone and then she said the baby's dead. >> And so when you guys went out there, baby was already like that. >> Yeah. Uh-huh. >> I trying to make sure we already know. >> She dropped her phone. I don't know >> the baby in the car when she Yeah, she in the front seat. She drives with the baby in the front seat. Like, >> when was the last time you guys saw the baby? >> Yesterday on the se, but Christina kept on holding her in the front seat without the car seat. So, I'm afraid of her. >> Christina is my mother. That woman is my mother. I don't want to be her with her. She thinks that I want to be her. I couldn't even get to HOLD HER ON DEATH. I CAN'T EVEN HOLD MY little sister. She started crying because mom SCARED HER BY YELLING at me and calling me names. >> Okay, you did nothing wrong. Okay, you guys, we're doing our best we can. >> Okay. >> And what time did you call your grandparents on the video chat where um your grandma told me? >> 7:00 7 or 8:00 at night. >> Something like that. Yeah. So, she was in the truck and then immediately after that, you guys called us to let us know, okay? >> She goes, "The baby's dead." >> Christina's mother then provided a crucial piece of evidence that would give officers an insight into what might have gone down. >> And what did she do when you guys found out? Did she try any lifers? And she just went to the trap and smoke in her face. >> Blowing Amelia's face. >> Yeah, she does that all the damn time. Okay. >> Oh, she usually be mean to me. >> And I go, you don't hear that guy telling you how to do that that CPR. Okay. >> She wasn't listening. >> They go to a restaurant and keep her away from me and my siblings. >> That's what we're working on right now. >> That's something we're working on. Okay. Did your mom ever say where she was going last night before you jumped out? >> No. She said I here for about an hour or two and then she said the cops are down the street and she took off and I go I don't see no cops. >> She runs away from the cops and went through the damn time. She doesn't really care about me. She only cares about like the male child because she's the favorite child of her. So >> when you see your mom does that all the time, what what what does she do? >> Like she acts all mean towards me and she is acts all and manipulative. She thinks that I sleep with all her imaginary boyfriends. Like she has imaginary boyfriends and stuff like that. >> She's saying she sees things coming through the house and someone's messing with her at night. >> And she keeps me up at night by screaming out the middle. >> Do you have another sibling? >> Where's she at? >> She's with her dad. >> Do you Do you know what her uh what she uses? >> No. She's she says that she does and stuff like that and and she usually and like sell her blood and puts it back in and then she uses water from her and then put it back in her bloodream. I keep on telling her that's wrong and but she doesn't like to listen to me because she thinks I'm useless or something like that. >> Then I asked her if she's doing drugs and she said no. >> Does she ever do anything like that around Amelia? >> Yes. All the damn time at the trailer. What? What does she do? >> Like like she keeps on doing this. >> She had she had the baby sitting in her lap when video chat me. She had the baby sitting in her lap and I seen the syringe. >> Okay. >> And that was last night, correct? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Millia is probably going to die and I'm the worst oldest sister in the world. No, >> it's not your fault, Millie. You're here. I didn't get the baby. Get the baby on time. Did you bring her to you? I didn't save my little sister. I'm a horrible. It's not your fault, Lily. It's >> not your fault, Lily. >> He couldn't stop her. She's going to do what she's going to do. >> Investigators later learned that Christina had spent the previous night using substances and had reportedly breastfed the baby while under the influence. Moments later, the deputies received the heartbreaking news of the baby's passing from the hospital. The moment the baby's grandfather learned what had happened, his heartbreak quickly gave way to fury. Christina was begging, pleading with her daughter to be reasonable with as usual cuz she's abusive. >> And Lily got the camera on her and showed her that she had a hypo in her hand. >> At that point, finally believed what I've been telling her. >> Yeah. >> For a week or two. She's on drugs. She's giving her daughter mother's milk. The baby's going to be getting drugs. She finally believed it. She called you guys immediately. But nobody went over to the address where she said that truck that that devil truck right there. That one. Nobody found that truck in front of the address that she gave. So now, okay. Well, let let me back up. Later that night, Christina shows up, I guess, down right in front of her house and jumps out and gets in the house and and then Christina's out here for another two hours, probably shooting up in front of our neighbor's house. And that's the last we saw of her now. A little late. Somebody should have done their diligence yesterday and the baby would still be alive. Had that been done. Boy, kind of late now. But that poor 4-month old baby killed my mother's milk. I mean, she called and told you guys. Well, not you guys, but somebody in the police department. She told us. So, how come the baby's dead now? Unfortunately, sir, I don't have an answer. >> I know you don't know. It's a rhetorical question. I know. Sorry. >> But I just want >> I know none of you guys none of you guys standing in front of me here are responsible, but still. >> And I understand that you're upset. And I I can never understand exactly what you guys are going through right now. So, I don't want to even push that I do. And I'm I'm so sorry that you guys are going through this. I I completely understand that you guys are angry. >> Why didn't somebody GO CHECK ON HER LAST NIGHT AND ARREST HER? Shake her down, man. She told you guys, not you, but she told the the police. >> And I don't have an answer. I'm sorry. >> She's a wretched soul. >> There's something wrong with her. Serious. >> Yes, sir. I hear you. >> She wants to up. I'd like to shoot her off. Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. And then the last in the head. You guys, I can't believe she called last night. Nobody went and took care of that situation in front of the house. sitting there up with a baby. That wasn't a serious one. I guess that wasn't priority. >> An autopsy later revealed substances in the baby's system, though the exact cause of death could not be conclusively determined. Detectives from APD's crime against children unit charged Christina with abuse resulting in death, for which she received 10 years in prison. Christina deserved to go to prison for life. Just like Rachel, who ended the lives of not one but all three of her babies. >> Please. >> Oh my god. >> I've been giving them some ibuprofen because they're sick and they have grindy. They're not feeling good. >> You know what? >> The girl is weird. >> Who? Rachel. She doesn't betray me. She's always been in the >> On January the 20th, 2020, 22-year-old Rachel Henry, living in Phoenix, Arizona, was at home with her three children, 3-year-old Zayn, one-year-old Maria, and 7-month-old Catalina, while other relatives were away. When the children's father and relatives returned home later that night, Rachel told them that the kids were napping. Moments later, they realized that none of them were breathing. As a result, the father's aunt, Pearler, called 911 in a panic. >> Please hurry. Please hurry. Yes. Dad, I'm on the phone right now. Oh my god. >> Oh my god. Coming out, too. Do I need some information? Are you out of business? >> Yeah, just my neighbor on the property. There's a mobile home on the property. >> Okay. >> Oh my god. >> Deputies wasted no time in rushing to the residence, but when they entered the small trailer, all hopes of rescuing the babies vanquished in an instant. >> Oh my god. >> WHERE were they? >> They were they were taking Yeah, there's a cop here. >> I know. I know. It's okay. It's okay. >> It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. You're okay. YOU'RE OKAY. >> BABY, >> NO. It's okay. No. No. Please. NO. PLEASE. BABY. OKAY. HEY, I KNOW. I KNOW. I KNOW. Let's go outside. They're keep on going inside. >> Despite their efforts to resuscitate the three young ones, it soon dawned upon them that the children had already passed away. Eager for some answers, they first brought Rachel aside to question her. >> I'm so sorry. We went to Wick today to try and [ __ ] cuz they were sick and we were trying to get an appointment and I told her that so many times I take them to the doctor. Please say to the doctor and she wouldn't. And I've been giving them ibuprofen because they're sick and they have they're not feeling good. My baby's teething and they fevers and everything and she still take them to the doctor. She never wanted to take me to the doctor. >> No. >> I need you to stay out here with me. I need you to stay out here with me. Okay. >> No. No. No. No. Yep. I need you to stay. Okay, just have a seat for me. >> Please, no, my baby. >> She kept telling me to clean the house. Everyone wanted me to clean the house. I was cleaning the house. I did the laundry cleaning and I thought they were sleeping and they fell asleep watching a movie >> and I came home and he was laying on the couch and I told him, "Watch up." He's been laying on the couch and he got home and then we went to go be a pizza. That's what I thought. And then I even went to check on them and they were gone. >> No, I need to stay. >> I told him to check on them. I told him to check on them. Uh, first it was and then it was uh what I mean and then I stopped and I'm not doing it anymore because I don't want I don't want I don't want to be like no one ever again ever. And I don't know, well, I want to be a better person and I want to go back to school. I want to be a better job. I want better opportunities in life. And I mean, I never asked for any of those that I had because I was crazy and stupid. I just I just need that one opportunity that I kept praying for change my life around and it's right it's all I want it like so >> what struck the officers as strange was the fact that Rachel seemed very focused on herself despite the tragedy that unfolded a few hours ago. Nonetheless, the officers had a mystery to solve. So, they turned their attention to Pear, the aunt who made the call. >> So, what time did you come back today? >> I was I just went to go pick up my nephew, but he he came home on his own. >> Okay. Okay. But what time did did you just get back? >> Me and her just got back. I We went I ordered Me and Rachel. I ordered a pizza. >> I ordered a pizza. >> But Okay. You and Rachel came back. >> I ordered a pizza and I told her, "Come on, let it >> kids or was there anybody here?" >> Yes. There it was. Your dad. Their dad was on Look, their dad was on the phone with his other son. >> Where's your dad? >> Is he not in the room? I don't know. >> I don't know. I don't know. I was just trying to figure this out, you know? I'm trying to get some >> He was freaking out. I don't know. >> I'm trying to keep your >> He didn't do anything. The kids get the kids have been asleep since when we when he got, you know what I mean? Since before he got home from work. >> They were asleep when he got home and he was asleep on the couch as well. And he's telling you guys, no, you know what? They're dead. >> I don't know anything. >> I'm talking now. All I did was go inside and I >> They were stiff. They've been dead for a while. All three of them. What the hell could you have given them? No, they when I was I picked I went to grab him. I just grab the boy and he was just there. He'd been there for a minute. >> Been there for a minute. Oh my god. >> So >> I just So when was the last time you actually checked on >> I was in my room. I didn't I haven't checked on them because they were right there in the living room. >> Oh, >> they're right there in the living room on the counter. That's where That's where they sleep. That's where the kids sleep in the living room. >> It's a small trailer. My room I have I I sleep with my husband in my room. >> Mhm. >> The kids are in the living room, kitchen, and over there in that front in that front bedroom. That's their area. >> Okay. >> Oh my god. When I pulled on them, they were stiff. The only one. They were stiff. They had been there for a while. She didn't They were sleeping. They didn't They were I You know what I mean? And I told her, "You know what, Rachel? Why you Why you I said, "The kids have been taking that's too long of a nap. They're going to be up all night. You're not going to be able to sleep. I I mean I know that age they still sleep a lot you know like 16 18 hours you know and all that but yeah you got to wake them up so that's not up all night >> sleeping exactly that's what dad was doing that's what the when he checked on them he was getting he was going to wake them up >> do you know what time you went to Domino's >> um I mean >> did you guys walk by the kids everything >> look I walked by them but they they were No I didn't walk by when I walked by the kids on when I left they were over here they were over here trying couch sleeping. She puts them there, covers them up, and they were asleep. And um baby I really I didn't see the baby. >> Okay. >> I didn't see the baby. You know what? The girl is weird. >> Who? Rachel. >> You know what? She gives you too much medicine. >> She's always giving medicine. Always medicine. >> Do you know what kind of medicine? >> Just all that medicine. >> Are they under any type of medication? Are they on any type of medication or >> asthma? Anything? >> Babies? >> Yeah. >> Just what she gives them. She probably she gives him some medicine. Go to sleep. I know. Like >> medicine as in like what? Like >> Tylenol. I don't like No, no, no. Not quite. She She gives him She gives him baby Tylenol. Baby to her. She got all kinds of medicine, you know. And I just I told I said, "The girl is weird, but you know, I'm going to break up the arm. We're going to come home one day and try and find her drowning in the kitchen in the tub." Although Pearler had no concrete evidence to support her claims, the officers were convinced that something was off about Rachel. Later, when the officers gave their testimony separately, one of the firefighters revealed the unsettling first impression he had of Rachel. >> First thing I noticed was mom. >> Okay. >> Mom was crying talking to the officer. But mom was not she was not her cry was a little different to me. >> Okay. because she was crying, but then she would stop and she would talk normal >> and then she would cry and talk normal. It wasn't a cry as if as a mother or a grandmother or anybody who's lost three kids. They would be crying from deep down in their soul, crying hysterically, possibly punching, yelling, crying. >> Uhhuh. >> There was none of that. >> Her Yeah. Her reaction didn't seem appropriate for what you guys have been told. >> Okay, >> exactly. That's the first thing I noticed. >> Rachel later confessed that she had suffocated all three of her young ones. First, her one-year-old daughter, Maria, then her three-year-old son, Zayn, who tried to fight her off and later threatened to tell someone. And finally, her 7-month-old baby, Catalina, whom she smothered after lulling her to sleep with a bottle. After ending them one by one, she arranged their bodies on the couch to make it appear as though they were peacefully sleeping. She was arrested that night and later charged with three counts of first-degree murder. In 2023, Rachel plead guilty and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Rachel got caught red-handed and so did Rashawn, a psychotic mother who attacked her own daughter with a kitchen blade, wounding her 20 times. Come in the bathroom. >> Go in the bathroom. >> I went I grabbed a knife and I started stabbing her in the bathroom. >> On April the 21st, 2025, deputies in Palm Beach County, Florida, received a chilling 911 call from a mother identified as 27year-old Rashawn Gatlin. claiming to have attacked her own child. Deputies later uncovered the following footage from motionactivated cameras inside the residence which captured the harrowing moments before the 911 call. Yeah. >> Come in the bathroom. >> Come in the bathroom. Can I be a pizza? Court documents revealed that Rashawn had a documented background of mental health challenges, including schizophrenia. Court records also showed that she was ordered to have no contact with minor children or witnesses. The reason for that decision would soon become heartbreakingly clear in no time. During the 90 seconds when the mother and girl disappeared from the camera's view, Rashawn attacked her daughter with a kitchen blade, inflicting 20 injuries on her torso. And if there were any doubt about the child's well-being, Rashawn's 911 call only confirmed the horrifying reality of what had just happened. >> I went, I grabbed a knife and I saw a staber in the bathroom. Okay. So, you did this on purpose? >> Okay. Why were you trying to hurt your daughter? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? Is she gushing blood right now? >> She's bleeding a little bit. >> How far deep in her abdomen did you go? >> It's mostly in her back. >> How big is the knife? >> I have to call her dad. >> Okay, we But I need you to stay on the phone with me so I can help you. Okay. Moments later, Rashawn had the law enforcement standing outside of her door. >> Showing here. Is this right? >> I got But I don't see a building number. >> Ma'am, step out. >> Hey, don't want to stop the car. >> Anybody else in the house? >> Is anybody else in the house? >> Your daughter. Anybody else? Is there anybody else in the house? Hey, I got to shoot in here for just one. >> Hold on to her. I got the door. I got the door. >> Here. >> I have a little child here. Give me a second. >> That's it. I got multiple stab wounds to the 37. >> Let's get ready to roll. I don't I don't have blood, so we're just going to go. >> How multiple? >> How much bleeding do we have? >> A little bit only, but multiple in the back and right here. >> You got any wounds on you, ma'am? >> Do anything? >> You're not hurt at all? Is the mother/suspect detained? Are there any outstanding suspects? >> 31. I have the mother at this time. >> It's a It's a butcher knife, too. Tell them it's a butcher knife. >> It's like 8 in. >> What the hell is going on? >> Got it. Let's go, baby. >> Come on. I got you. Okay. >> You're going to be okay. All right. Okay. Long time. You're going to be okay. All right. >> You want to drive us? >> Yeah. >> We're good. >> About 8 in. Yeah. I don't know how I'm assuming that's the line on it. >> Like about 2 in of intrusion or insertion on it, but it's hard to tell. >> Hey, I'm okay. Just a little upset here. This is legit. It's legit. Oh, because I have a a mom that stabbed her child at least 10 times in the past. Uh the the all the stabbing is superficial, but they're definitely stabbing. Fire arrest just told Bernano that's in the hospital right now. There was 16 in stab moments. That's the number that we got. It may be more, it may be less, but >> the officers had just witnessed a mother, the one person meant to love and protect her child unconditionally, become the very source of the child's pain. But Rashawn's deranged mental state, hadn't even begun to scratch the surface. >> I got hurt right now. I don't want to be here anymore. Can you one of you just shoot me, please? >> Let me know when you're ready. Hey, I know those aren't comfortable, but I can't have you have put those in your front. Okay. >> So, do me a favor. Turn them face that way. >> The deputies digested the traumatizing situation one way or the other, but found themselves in a difficult spot when Rashan's boyfriend, the father of the little girl, shown up at the scene. Once officers got their required intel from Basilio, they turned to Basilio's son, who had his own tragic narrative about Rashawn. I knew something was going to happen. I just didn't think it was actually going to happen. I know I told my dad like I felt like a presence behind me sometimes and I thought she was going to be behind me to stab me, but never happened. It's kind of strange. It's just like you know something's going to happen. Like you push a face off, you know your parents are going to yell at you. >> It was one of those things, but it only appeared like once or twice. >> What? What appeared? What do you mean by that? >> Wait, what? Wait, what did you >> Would you say it only appeared? What? What? >> Like the thought of like a presence being behind me of like blood lust, but she never did anything cuz she was downstairs. That was a while ago and nothing happened. So, I don't have a gay wound in my back. >> Deputies had beaten around the bush long enough and now wanted some real answers from a herself. However, what she would reveal would linger long after the questioning ended. >> You're not feeling good today, are you? A lot of things going on. Okay. You want to talk to me about what happened? >> I don't know why I did it. >> You don't know? Well, well, tell me what you were thinking. >> Something just tell me to do it. >> Really? What do What do you mean by that? Help me understand a little bit. The >> voices. >> Voices. And what what were they saying? >> Tell me to do it. >> What were they saying? They tell me to stab her. >> How long have you been hearing those voices? >> For a while. >> How long have they been telling you to hurt him? >> For a while. >> For a while. Are you doing okay now? Are you still hearing voices? >> H. >> You're not. Are you having trouble hearing me because you're hearing something else? Are you hearing me? Okay. Don't start banging your head sweetly. Don't. Do you remember the incident and what you were doing and stuff? Let me Let me ask you this. Here. Look at me for a sec. Ask you this. What were you doing before that? What was going on before that? >> I was sitting on the couch at the >> You were on the couch. Were you watching TV or anything or >> No. >> No. What was she doing? >> She was sitting I don't know. Were you guys talking having a good time or what? >> I don't I don't know. I went to grab the knife and then took her in the bathroom and I stabbed her. >> When you stabbed her, what did you think was going to happen? >> I don't know. I don't know. >> You don't know? >> No. >> Do you think she could get seriously hurt like that? Huh? >> I don't know. >> Do you want to know? >> Were you trying to hurt her or what were you trying to do? >> H >> I was trying to hurt her. >> You were Did you want her to go away all together? >> Yeah. >> Did you want her to go to heaven? >> Um I don't know. >> You don't know? >> What? Did the voices tell you that or no? It's telling me to stab her and that's what I did. >> Did they tell you to stop stabbing her? >> No. >> Then why did you stop? >> I don't know. >> Cuz you actually stopped and called 911, didn't you? >> Why did you do that? >> Because I knew I did something bad. >> Is this the first time you thought about doing something like that? >> No. >> When was another time? >> Uh, I don't know. You don't you don't know or you don't remember? >> I don't remember. >> Okay. Are you taking your medications? >> I didn't take my medication today. >> Today? Did you take it yesterday? >> Yes. >> Okay. And did you feel like this yesterday? >> No. >> No. >> I don't I don't know. >> You don't know? >> Rashawn was eventually transported to the station. A few days later, social workers returned to her residence to greet the now fully recovered three-year-old girl. >> Hey, come in. >> Hi. >> Hi. How are you? >> You feeling better? >> Oh, she's being way better. >> Hi. >> Look. >> What happened? >> What happened? Why do you have a band-aid? >> Scratcher. >> You got to scratch what's under the band-aid. >> A kitty cat scratching me. >> Kitty cat. But there's no Kat here. >> Kitty Kat watching me. >> Yes. But what happened here? >> A boo. A doctor. >> Who did that? >> A doctor. >> You got a boo boo at the doctor? >> What? Why did you go to the doctor? >> I daddy. >> What happened to your bath? >> Daddy back. >> What happened to your bath? >> Can I see? You going to show me? >> Look. >> Oh. What happened over there? >> What happened? >> She had mommy in the bathroom. >> Mommy took you in the bathroom. What did she do? >> Mommy had a face. >> She had a face. >> No, she mommy had face. >> She had a face. >> She had fangs. >> Oh, she had fangs. >> Yes. >> What kind of fangs? >> Um, a kitty cat face. >> Yeah, >> a kitty cat fangs. >> Look at that. In the end, Rashan Gatlin was charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated abuse. Rashawn couldn't hide her crimes for long, and neither could Reane, who was caught on camera assaulting her autistic son. >> Ready? Let's go. Now, >> I'm going to give these people a reason to call cops. >> I will call myself. I will call myself. little for you. It's okay. >> On September the 12th, 2021, at a quick trip on Hubble Avenue in De Moines, a woman identified as Rejane Morris began arguing with her 9-year-old autistic son. Bystanders heard the commotion and gathered around. But when Morris's discipline took a violent turn, the bystanders made a desperate call to 911. >> Police Department, can I help you? fighting up here. A quick trip. >> How many people are fighting? >> Well, mom beat her kid really here. >> I am I can't hear you. Something's wrong with your phone. How many people? >> There's like three >> and other people. The kids from her yelling and freaking out. >> All right, we'll be on the way up there. >> Officer Miller of the De Moines Police Department was the first on scene where he was met with pure chaos. >> This lady's in here, >> dragging around in stores, right? So, we tell her to calm down and then she is just going crazy, man. My homie not in there holding her down right now. >> OFFICER, HURRY. >> Oh my god. >> Somebody better get this. >> Okay. >> She punched her and she punched her. >> Hey, >> she's throwing everything up. >> Place your hands behind your back. >> Place your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> MY SON. >> Place your hands behind her back. >> Place your hands behind your back. You just struck me. Fine. But I want my stuff. >> Okay. Okay. >> No, cuz they're the ones who started. >> Place your hands behind your back. Relax. >> Relax. Okay. >> Talk to an officer >> cuz they're the ones who started it. >> Keep your hands behind your back. >> I am behind my back. >> Okay. >> And I would like to talk to an officer now. >> Okay. I'm here. >> I want my son. >> Place your hands behind your back. >> They're the ones who started it. I want my son. >> Okay. What is going on? >> First of all, I was trying to discipline my son. They got involved. My son is ADHD. I was trying to get him out the store. They got involved when they wasn't supposed to. I just want my son so I could go home, please. >> So why why are you throwing things? You hit me. >> They're the ones who kept getting in my face and would not back off. Leave me alone. >> Okay. So that's that's your that's your reasoning for throwing things. >> No. And then I did not mean to throw them at you. I JUST WANT MY SON SO I COULD GO HOME CUZ I KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM is with my son and nobody doesn't mind. >> Step outside. So, I just want my son to go home. >> Are you here with anyone? >> Just me and my son. >> Where do you live? >> Right behind us. And I would like to take my son home. He has workers >> right now. The workers and I've been dealing with this. He has ADHD. >> And I would like to get him home from So, can I please take my son home? >> I just want my son >> so I can go home. >> We're going to figure all this out. Okay. Have a seat in my car. realiz he's still armed with a knife. >> I'll be the car. >> With a deranged mother safely secured in the back of his cruiser, Officer Miller approached the young autistic boy, but froze as the full horror of the became painfully clear. >> You can see the marks on his neck. >> Hey, bud. >> Hey, buddy. Can you talk to me? >> Okay. Can Can you look up at me? His mom's kind of Oh, yeah. You got marks on your neck. >> All right. Can you sit here for me? Okay. >> Thanks, buddy. You got video of this? >> Can you show me? >> T got videos of it, too. Everybody here is going to say the same. You literally just walk over to where they was behind the child. >> So, what was she doing with her child? Picking. >> She was Get up. Get up. >> Like picking him up by the neck. He's literally back. She's pulling him by the arm. >> Let go. Get up. >> She's sitting there. She's yelling loud as hell. Like I don't give a >> you wouldn't say nothing but it just kept going on. Like so then we walked back there and then yeah we just started to tell her to stop and she started tripping out. >> Who did she assault? >> Like four or five people there. >> Did she did she push with the door? >> One of these little kids black >> like she's just out of control. >> She assault my fiance. I had to actually like put her on the ground because she was getting way too out of control. I held her down for a little bit. She bit me. She >> Yeah, I got a video of him holding her down to where she can't do anything anymore. >> Okay, cuz she was really getting out of control. >> She was like trying to put her hands on his little clothes. I don't know where they went. >> She swear another little girl talking about punch you in the face. She just kept throwing stuff and throwing stuff. >> She at me at >> Oh yeah. >> Yeah, she did that. That's when I hit her. >> Okay. >> Cuz you don't do that to hit. I'm not I'm not with my >> We wasn't in the wrong. No, you're steeling the child out. That's all I mean. >> You're You're doing what you should have done. >> With the cell phone footage available, there was no doubt left in the officer's mind that Reine needed to be held accountable. But for this maniac mama, everyone was at fault except for herself. >> This is one. And Brendon has a habit of making everything worse. This one hit me. I guess she pressed charges against them. Press charges against her for hitting me. They would have backed off. I would have been able to take my son home and go home calmly when they don't even know the situation and they think they know and they know nothing about my son. >> Can you show me where she slams the child on the ground again? >> It's this video. I don't know what you can see, but >> picks him up under the arms. >> Throws him down. >> Picks him up in the air and throws him on the floor. >> Once the officers had gathered statements from the witnesses, it was now time to confront the woman who had started it all. >> If my son has to go to foster care, I will understand, but I would like to go home so I can talk to his workers and get all of those hand. >> Sure. We'll get we'll get all this sorted out shortly. What's going on with him today? >> Brendon, he is ADHD. Okay. autism on a spectrum, mood swings, DDM that goes along with the ADHD. >> Okay. >> His workers are under Orchard Place Dance Center. He is due for his medicine and he's even got a doctor's appointment to get back into school tomorrow cuz he's been home sick. >> Okay. >> And when he does not get his way, which the workers know, he will throw a bit like that in the store. And they told me to carry him out and get him back at home. And that's exactly what I did until they got involved. And I tried to tell them they don't know him and they don't know the secret. >> What's his What's his first name? >> Brendan. And his psych meds are at my house right now. >> I'm going to pat you down really quick. So, I'm going to have you pop out. Do you have any weapons on you or needles? Is there anything that's going to hurt me? >> Nope. >> Okay. >> Cuz I don't even do that anymore since I've had my son. This is just the first time somebody's involved in themselves when they don't know the situation and what I go through with him. And like I said, he is due to meet with 3:00 a.m. tomorrow cuz we're discussing to getting him into focus. >> So, does he stay at Orchard Place sometimes? >> No, cuz he's not 10 yet. >> Okay, I got you. >> He's taking off from the house. Like I told her, he's due to have his next dose of medicine in when I get home. >> I'm going to get the car started. I'm going to get the AC running so he gets some air. I'll go ahead and get your keys. We'll get this sorted out. Okay. >> And my wallet's behind the thing. >> Okay. Oh my. You got You got quite the crawl here. All right. >> Am I going to jail? >> Yes. We have to contact DHS and see if that's a plan that'll work. >> Go home. >> What's that? >> I would like to go back to my home. >> I I know you do. >> We need to get a hold of the workers to let them know. >> We're We're also getting a hold of DHS. Okay. We have our own protocols we have to go through. Okay. >> Then I would like to press charges against them, too. Okay. >> Because she's the one who hit me and then he called me down. So, I would like to press charges against both of them. If I'm going to jail, they need to go. I don't even know why I'm going to jail. They're the ones who held my son away from me. >> Well, I watched a video of you grabbing your son underneath his shoulders and slamming him on the floor. >> Trying to pick him up. >> What's that? >> I was trying to pick him up. >> Yeah. And then you throw him to the floor. >> Okay. Well, then I I don't know what to tell you cuz I That's what I saw. >> I would like to go home so I could calm down so I could call my workers. >> Would you like to speak with my sergeant? >> Yes, because I would like to go home. I can understand that you're placing him outside the home. I'm willing to do that, but I would like to go home and calm down so that I could get a hold of the workers to let them know what is going on. >> Yeah, I'm okay. Gina snapped inside a crier. They got it on video like she snapped. They're posting it on Facebook. Damn, that went viral fast. >> And they're not even letting me to go home to calm down. >> Yeah, I know. Honey, because that video, Regina, sis, what happened? They they got involved and they wouldn't back out in my face either. So they were partly at fault, too. >> Baby, what happened between you and your son? >> He he was throwing a fit and I was trying to walk out until they wanted to get involved and made the situation worse. >> Why did you call me mom? You >> my phone's at home. >> I was trying to call you. I was getting >> Yeah, I was already up here. I was trying to get home with him. Those two people over there wanted to start a fight and got in my face, too, and made the situation worse. However, every one of Reine's excuses would collapse the moment officers reviewed the surveillance footage because what they saw on that screen exposed her in unimaginable ways. Let's go. >> Let's go now. I'M GOING TO GIVE THESE PEOPLE A REASON TO CALL COPS. Let's go. >> All right. When I say >> when I say let's go, let's go. NOW >> I will sleep myself. I just want to go. >> I said I will say >> when I say let's go now. Let's go. I need now. >> I DON'T CARE. >> HEY. HEY. HEY, THIS IS >> NO, THIS IS MY TURN. I was >> That's cool. But this is the TIME OF >> I DON'T CARE. >> I DON'T GIVE A CHILD. >> I DON'T CARE. NO, THE DOOR SAID for you. It's okay. PUT YOUR HAND ON MY HEAD. YOU STUPID. What you going to do? Come here. >> Come here. Where are you at? >> Come here. You're fine. Come here. >> You guys like you guys right here. I know. MY GIRL NOW I WON'T GIVE ME now go. Get the out. Get the out. The surveillance footage revealed the abuse in chilling detail and there was no way Reameraine could find herself a way out of this one. What followed was a heartbreaking moment where officers had to separate the boy from the mother who was supposed to be taken to jail. >> I can't hold your hand, baby. >> Why? >> Cuz I'm in handcuffs. Okay, you need to go with >> my little baby back here. >> Okay, do me a favor. Be good. Okay. >> Are you going to be back in the morning? >> I'm going to try to. Okay. >> Okay. >> I miss mom. >> Oh, you know what? She misses you, too. >> I don't wanted her to be gone wherever. Oh, >> she's going to be there for 5 years. >> But Jane Morris was charged with felony endangerment, but her guilty plea reduced it to a misdemeanor alongside two assault charges. On February the 14th, 2022, she was sentenced to 2 years for endangerment and 2 years for assault, though both sentences were later suspended. Rejane got what was coming to her and so did Ania Woods when her stepchild's unresponsive body was discovered in the middle of the desert bearing marks of torment. >> Found her in the wash. >> She's been unresponsive. >> And you guys didn't call the ambulance. >> I was I was calling and the phone kept dropping. What happened guys? >> Ran away when they found her. This is how she was. >> On July the 27th, 2025, police responded to a call at an intersection in Hallbrook, Arizona. The caller was Ania Woods who had disturbing news about her boyfriend's young daughter. >> 911. What's the location of your emergency? >> What's the location? We're on I headed towards Old Brook. This is my daughter. She's with us. We live out in the desert and we are calling to Old Brook to the EMS station. She ran away for the third time in a week in the desert. And when they when the neighbor found her in the wash, she was unresponsive completely. And by the time she got back to the house, she was barely breathing. So I'm breathing for her now. Unresponsive, unconscious, and unable to breathe for herself. >> What is she breathing? I'm waiting for her. What do you mean? >> I am putting my mouth around her and breathing. Yes. >> I need you to pull over so that I can page them out to you and we can start CPR. >> Would it be easier if we just Is it going to be for me to keep going? >> I understand that. I need you to pull over so I can have EMS. Me, too. >> Officers rushed to the scene hoping to save a child's life. But the state they found 10-year-old Rebecca Baptiste in had them questioning the validity of the initial 911 call. >> They found her in the wash and she's been unresponsive. We didn't know where else to take her. There's there's no hospital near here. >> I do need to warn you. She has >> um >> Who's your parents >> right here? >> Oh, sorry. >> I'm sorry. She's in his parents. >> She's been unresponsive since the neighbor's murder. He said he found her just laying in the wash. Just gasping. >> How long ago? >> I don't know how long it took us to to get here. Like maybe 30 minutes to get here. >> We live uh 20 m east of Petrified Forest. >> And you guys didn't call the ambulance? >> I was I was calling and I the phone kept dropping. I talked to a sheriff. >> There's no reception out there. >> It dropped. I told her we were headed 20 mi east of the petrified forest. three times, but this time by far worse. I was trying to flag somebody down on the side of the road and I thought it was I don't know. I guess not. 180 beginning CPR. Copy 32. Oh, T, can you give me some gloves? >> Can you grab me some gloves, please? Or you want to take over and I'll grab some? >> The deputies immediately began trying to stabilize Rebecca, but something about the atmosphere felt deeply wrong. And it didn't take long before that unease turned into dread. >> How long has it been since she's been responsive? >> We don't know. She ran away and they found her in the the dirt. >> We only know for as long as that he got her on the quad and gave her any signs. Where were you guys at? >> East of Petri Forest and we're like 20 20 minutes in. >> You're in Apache County. >> Yeah. Yeah, boys. I We just moved here at the start of the month, so I'm still kind of getting the >> She was involved in an accident. >> No, she ran away. She's on medication >> and she hasn't been she hasn't been on these medications in about a month because we've been moving. >> Okay. >> And Hold on a second. I'm sorry. >> What happened, guys? >> Ran away. And when they found her, just catchy. >> How long? >> We don't know. >> It's been at least 30 minutes. >> It took us like 30 minutes just to get here. >> How? Okay, let's let's get her in our rig. >> I think she's been down a while though, but we'll just work in a rig. Yeah. >> I didn't know where else to take her. I didn't know where the closest place was. >> Like smack down right between here, Poncho, and that's it. All right. >> As first responders rushed Rebecca for emergency treatment, officers turned their focus to her father, Richard Baptiste. Except his behavior didn't sit right with anyone. >> How long has it been since you found her unresponsive? >> We don't know. The neighbor >> when when did the neighbor bring her? >> It's 11:48. It had to have probably close to 11. >> At least 30. >> At least 30. >> What's your neighbor's name? >> I don't know. I I just moved out here. Most of the people that most of the people that I know are relatives of my my uncle. So, I'm still getting used to the people. Who's Whose child is that? It's fine. Is that hers, too? >> No. No. That's my girlfriend. >> Did you get her ID? >> No. Her name's uh her name's Rebecca. >> I got to get her ID. >> And she's been running away for the last like 3 or 4 weeks since we've been here. >> Okay. >> She ran away this morning. We went out and tried to find her and our neighbor found her. >> What time this morning? >> We got up about 9:30. So, it would have been close to 10:30. >> So, you guys saw her the night before? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We were all We all sleep in the same same building. >> Okay. And then, so you said she ran around that morning and you guys were trying to find her. >> This one? Yeah. This morning? Yeah. Yeah. This morning? Yeah. >> And you guys went out trying to find her and then your neighbors found her. >> Neighbor found her. Yeah. >> Okay. What were they doing down there? How'd they find her? >> They were on quads. >> They were on their quads. Okay. And then they brought her to you. >> Yeah. >> At your house. >> Yeah. Well, it's technically was my great uncle's. He died recently, so we moved in there. >> Okay. >> So, that's kind of how people know us up there. >> Did she have any signs of life when she brought when she got brought to you? >> She was almost basically like this. She was slightly responsive. She was still breathing on her own. >> What do you explain to me what you mean responsive? >> Like she was just breathing on her own. >> Breathing on her own. >> That was about it. And then as we were driving this way, started seeing color change in her lips and we were just all >> Okay. You said she >> Yeah, she got that when she was in Phoenix. >> Okay. >> She um she ran away. >> Do you guys take her to get treated for it? >> Yes, she has a primary care and then she also did a 7-day stay down in Phoenix. >> Okay. >> Not for not for that, but just for a prior incident. >> Okay. And explain to me what you're going through. You said she's diagnosed with what? >> Explain that to me. >> Um >> Okay. Um, she's on three, she was on three different medications before he left. I can't remember the third one right now. Um, but it's it's been a little bit since she's been on her medication since we moved up here. >> The father's detached tone and his focus on Rebecca's so-called behavioral issues while she was fighting for her life struck officers as deeply disturbing. Then entered the father's girlfriend, Ania Woods, who instantly rang off alarm bells in the officer's mind. >> How old she's 10. >> Where' she go to school? >> Uh, we haven't set that up yet. >> No school yet? >> No, we were trying to get her either into concho. >> Who's her Who's her primary care? >> Um, so I just had them switched over to >> How long ago? Um, that was about two weeks ago. But her former one, his name is >> Hang on just a second. Who did she see over >> she? I'm sorry. What? >> Where was she? Who was she seen? >> Doctor's name yet. She hasn't They haven't had their none of them have their initial appointment. >> They haven't been in there yet. So, who's the last doctor she's seen and been treated by? >> Spell that. >> I'm going to need a number for him anyway. So, >> yeah. Let me look it up. Breathing. All right, ma'am. So, walk me through what happened today. >> We were outside starting the morning. Before I can get waters in the the bottles, she went running off again. >> Okay. You saw her run off? >> No, she disappeared. She We have them play in the yard. And >> she was supposed to start She was supposed to go stand in the shade and go wait for me because that's where we've been keeping her to be outside. She can't She can't be trusted in the building because she gets there. There's nine, weapons, was everything. >> So, I had her standing outside. I turned around to go grab waters for bottles and she was gone. >> Okay. Um, was she complaining of any pain, any sickness, anything like that? >> Well, she's been she's been complaining of a headache. >> A headache. >> Ever since she ran away the first day, she's been complaining of a headache. >> Okay. She's been This is frequently running away lately. >> It's been It's three times in less than two weeks. >> She actually ran away a week before we moved out here. So, >> yeah, she actually jumped out the window. I was telling the other officer over there in the the beige that she just before we came up here, she or I didn't tell him about the what he was bringing up. My dad brought up she just ran away before we came up here. That look was super scary. She jumped she kicked out a screen and jumped out the second store window a week before we moved here last week of June. >> So it sounds like there's been a history of behavioral issues. >> Yes. He was asking me if she had a history she's had this long history of running away. >> Okay. The couple seemed more concerned with defending themselves, as if a 10-year-old could ever deserve what she had endured. Their words revealed more than they realized, and investigators immediately began connecting the dots. >> But, um, I was telling that officer, she has a long history of no like physical health conditions, but it's mental health. And that that's where I was telling you. I told him the first time that you she ran away, she was taken over to Phoenix Children's Hospital and ended up she ended up on a 7-day hold, a psychiatric hold. Um she has a long history with running to DCS and making up stories of her brothers. >> So there is been DCS cases before? >> Yes, they were. >> I just got them back from the state. >> Okay. Who is your case worker? >> No, there is none now. >> What? Who was? >> Uh there was multiple. The last one was transferred to a different division. >> When was the last time you had contact with them? >> We The case was closed. May end of May of this year. >> May of last year. Last year. >> That's when we got our youngest back. >> Okay. >> The first time she ran away, she told us that she didn't want to live here. She was just trying to leave. But we explained to her, everyone explained to her the dangers that come with this. She did. She ran away like 3 days after that. And then now this. But she's been complaining of headaches since the first day and basically dehydrated ever since the first day. I was telling him her mouth has been really bad since the first day. Okay, I need to talk with him real quick. >> Ania's rants about Rebecca's bad behavior didn't come from a place of frustration. They exposed something darker, something sinister lurking beneath her calm voice. >> So, who is the biological mother? >> Um, her name is Sandy Hawkins. >> Spell that. >> S A M D I. And then Hawkins is H A W K I N S. >> H A W K what? >> I N S. >> Okay. Where'd she live? >> No idea. She's >> She's a dramatic. >> Okay. Where's the last place you know of her being? >> Um she was in Phoenix and it was some apartment complex off of >> I don't even remember the name of it. >> Has she been in the little girl's life at any point visiting anything like that? She stopped coming to visits >> like two about two and a half, three years ago. >> Do you have a number for her? >> No. >> Is there a way to get a hold of her? >> I would assume Facebook Messenger. I just I don't have contact with her to secure. >> Do you know her date of birth by any chance? >> Yes, I will. >> Do you know Sy's date of birth? >> How long has it been since mom's been involved? You said >> two and a half years. >> Two years. >> Two and a half, maybe three. >> How does Do you have full custody? How's that go? So, I just got the kids back and I've been working on getting full custody. >> Okay. So, you guys between you and her, you have shared right now >> only uh through whatever legal legal standpoint that is. >> Okay. >> I just don't. >> Yeah. Her mom her mom was coming to visit Ty and DCS basically told us don't don't do visits if she's going to be like that. we'll take care of them. And she never did them. >> Okay. >> And then she she never showed up to any courts, never did drug testing, never did anything. So I just I let bygon. >> Okay. >> Rebecca was rushed to the hospital that same day. Her condition critical. She was severely malnourished, bruised, and showed signs of prolonged abuse. Doctors documented internal injuries, old and new fractures, and cigarette burns that told a story of unimaginable suffering. She was placed on life support and passed away 3 days later on July the 30th, 2025. Her death sparked a full homicide investigation and both Richard Baptiste and Ania Woods were charged with first-degree murder and multiple counts of abuse. Reine was a horrible mother. She pald in comparison to Charity who subjected her daughter to inhumane conditions. >> I picked HER UP AND SHE WASN'T BREATHING AND SHE JUST STOPPED BREATHING AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE I was inside. I seen flies come out her like flies in her mouth. >> I'M TELLING YOU WHY EVERY I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. LIKE I DIDN'T BEAT MY KIDS. I DON'T KNOW WHO BEATS MY KIDS, BUT IT'S NOT ME. IF I GO BACK TO JAIL, I'M NOT GETTING OUT. >> WHY? >> BECAUSE I'M ON PROBATION. >> On September the 23rd, 2024, officers in Whiteall, Ohio, received a panicked 911 call from a distressed woman identified as Charity Drea, claiming her little girl had suddenly become unresponsive. Aware of the severity of the situation, officer Joshua Merritt rushed to the scene, hoping to reach there in time. >> Where are they? >> They're here. They're here. They're here. >> It's not the next police. >> They're here. They're here. THEY'RE THEY'RE THEY'RE THEY'RE Calm down. >> So, what happened before they stopped breathing? >> She was sleep. SHE WAS SLEEP. I CAME IN HERE. I CAME IN HERE. LET'S TALK. SHE WAS SLEEP. ALL I DID WAS COME HERE. OKAY. He just told me HE LITERALLY JUST CAME OUTSIDE WITH ZERO. HE LITERALLY COME OUTSIDE. HE CHECK ON HER. HE WAS LIKE, "BABE, MAYBE SHE'S NOT BREATHING." SO I THROW A BABY AND I PUSHED HIM ON THE WAY AND I PICKED HER UP AND I was trying TO SCARE HER TO SEE IF SHE JUST PICKED HER WAY. >> I PICKED HER UP AND SHE WASN'T BREATHING AND HE JUST STOPPED BREATHING AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT I was. >> So when's the last time that you saw the baby breathing? >> Literally like 20 minutes ago she was just breathing. I just went inside just checked on her. I literally would have been sitting here on the court on the phone talking like going he's going there to PUT ON HIS COAT AND I'LL GRAB the other baby >> and he's thirsty and flies and she's not breathing. >> I told her like so when is the last time you saw the baby uh breathing >> and then you still here rubbing on the head. >> Hey dear, please come over here. >> Sorry. Go ahead. >> Same thing still like 20 minutes. She went over and she was rubbing on her head and then she got up and after that she walked away. >> Okay. >> She was breathing everything just like 20 minutes ago. Literally >> she was just breathing. >> So where were you when you before you found out the baby wasn't breathing? >> I was walking right on the court. I just I literally just walked in this on this on my hat. >> So then you go inside and what do you see? >> I I seen flies come out of her like flies in her mouth and I look at her. So I walk over there to touch her. I touch her like this and I see she wasn't breathing. So she came in. I'm like she's not breathing. I'm like I don't know if I'm tripping or not. She's not breathing. the foam around her mouth. Where did that come from? >> I just blew A SLIME IN HER MOUTH WHILE SHE was trying to >> I just blew it was out of her nose. >> Okay. >> When she was doing it for impressions, I blew in her mouth and it just came out of her nose. >> Um and then what happened? >> Nothing. She's just like she stopped breathing and that's when you called us. You know, we literally called her as SOON AS I PICKED HER UP AND SHE DIDN'T WAKE UP. >> Normally her I know my title. She's going to wake up and she's going to pop her head up and look at me. I'm her mom. So when I grabbed her, >> hey sir, we can't have anybody inside the house. >> When I grabbed her and she ID him, please. >> Yeah. Do Do you guys have your IDs with you? >> I know. I do. >> What's your social? >> Beneath Charity's hysterical ramblings, deputies felt that something was off. At that stage, officers could do nothing but scramble to make sense of what had just happened. >> How old is she? >> She's 8 months. >> She was laying in here on the couch. >> Yes. >> When you found out what position was she in, >> but she was laying on her stomach. That's how she already asleep. No, nothing unusual. >> No, everything was fine. >> Everything's been fine. >> Was there any blankets on the couch that were moved or anything like that? >> One blanket, but it wasn't. >> It was only literally she ran out here. I gave them the baby to hug her beside the smoke out. >> They ran back out here. Like they came right back out. She said, "She's not breathing. She's not breathing." So I told her to run back in the house, lay her down, and I started giving her chest pushes. And I was having her roll her breath. I'm stepdad. >> Your stepdad. So your boyfriend? >> Yeah. >> And your sister or your sister? >> I live here. >> Okay. Do is everyone live here? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Let's get people to stay here. Let's get a statement from them. And once we get statements from them, we can probably cut them loose or whatever, but I need to for it to be recorded and everything. >> Yeah. Okay. Um >> I can hang out with her until we figure out what's going on. So transport >> outside. Okay. >> So let's me and you. Let's go down to our PlayStation so then we can do like a formal interview. >> Detectives had a hard time believing Charity despite her dramatic display because the state they found 9-month-old Arya Williams in was far from accidental. The young one looked malnourished and it seemed her diaper hadn't been emptied in a very long time. As a result, the officers took both the young man, Tyrone, and Charity down to the station. I'm just going to write down literally everything that we talk about in notes and then if you would be willing to if you could please write down a statement about what you know. You guys called us. Was it you that called us? >> My girlfriend did. >> Okay. >> Wait, was it? No, it was my sister. My sister. I'm sorry. My sister was my sister. My the one I was sitting there was standing there. That's my sister. She called. >> Okay. So, she called us at 6:39. What time did So, you discovered the baby first, right? >> I was we sitting on the porch for a minute. I was smoking my mouth and I got chilly a little bit. So I'm like, I'm about to go in the house. I'm cold. I'm about to go house, get a jacket. So I go in the house, grab my coat and grab my little hat. So I look at the baby, right? I see uh uh the the flies coming out of her mouth. So when I look at that, I go over there. I touch her. I walk over to her. I touch her. I see she wasn't breathing. So I'm like, "She's not breathing. I'm not tripping." So I walk to my girl. I'm like, "She's not breathing. I'm not tripping. She's not breathing." So she g my niece. She like, "Here, take your knees." She walk over to the baby. She pick her up. When she pick her up, her head was like just leaning back like and it was like not coming out of her no. I don't know if it's coming out of her mouth or her nose. So my she went outside tell my sister my sister told her to bring the baby back in to run the baby in the house set her on the couch. So my sister set on the couch she trying to do the uh I don't know is it CPR C cuz she's she's used to work she work at the hospital so she trying to get her back to together. So as she doing that my my sister told my girlfriend to get the uh put her I'm my head's everywhere her mouth toward her mouth trying to get her back. So as she doing that she trying to breathe into her mouth that's when stuff start coming out I don't know if it came out her nose or her mouth but stuff start coming out. So that's she called y'all and that's when y'all came and tried to get her back and but before then like 20 minutes before then she was like literally just breathing like my girlfriend walked over there rubbed her head started over there over there by her and everything and then she end up walking away >> and you said that was about 20 minutes before so >> everything was fine like she was literally breathing all that like normally like nothing was wrong none of that she was sleeping on her stomach with her cover and all that like nothing bad like it's a normal day >> and you physically saw the baby 20 minutes before this happened? >> Yes sir. >> Okay. And I instant when I seen the flies coming m I'm like son cuz there fly come mouth ain't no why is the flies coming out her mouth. So when I instant I check her paw and she wasn't breathing. That's how I found out when my papa passed away. I checked his paw too and that's how I figured out he was going. So I instantly checked her paw and I see she wasn't breathing. >> How many flies would you say came out of her mouth? >> Like it was like two of them and I'm just a stepfather. >> I understand. >> I just look at it with my real kids. I do my real kids cuz I got a daughter but I can't see my daughter right now. So >> kind of I'm sorry to hear that. >> It was in the midst of this questioning that the officers got the most devastating news. Baby Arya had passed away. But the bad news didn't end there. When the autopsy came back, it revealed a bite mark on Arya's tongue, discharge from her eyes, a swollen belly, and a body far too frail for her age. The hospital also assessed Charity's other infant daughter and discovered that she had suffered a broken arm and head injuries. It was clear as day that the young ones had been horribly mistreated and it was now time to confront their mom. We're going to follow up on everything. >> We're following up on everything. Everything that came out of your mouth, we are following up on. >> So, I have been going to jail and I didn't even do nothing. I didn't do nothing, Michael. Like, I didn't do nothing. I'M TELLING YOU, I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. LIKE, I DIDN'T BEAT MY KIDS. I DON'T KNOW WHO BEATS MY KIDS, BUT IT'S NOT ME. AND PLEASE, LIKE, BRO, PLEASE. IF I GO BACK TO JAIL, I'M NOT GETTING OUT. >> WHY? >> BECAUSE I'M ON PROBATION. I JUST WENT to court and they told me if I UP ONE MORE TIME I'M GOING TO SIT DOWN FOR THE FULL FIVE. I didn't 5 years. >> What are you on probation for? >> FOR REST WHICH IS STOLEN PROPERTY. I USED to steal cars when I was younger. >> And you think you're only 5 years in a Franklin County jail for stealing cars? >> It's not just that. I HAVE A POLICE OFFICER. WHY DO I NO. WELL, WHY AM I GOING TO JAIL? I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. >> WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO IS I want you to stand up. Put your >> I didn't do nothing. CAN I PLEASE WRITE DOWN SOME NUMBERS WE'RE going to take ME TO JAIL? LIKE I NEED NUMBERS. I DON'T HAVE NO NUMBERS ON MY PHONE. >> I don't have no NUMBERS ON MY PHONE TO BE able to call anybody. >> Well, get get the get the tell us what numbers you want to run. >> BRO, WHY AM I going to jail? I didn't do anything. Bro, I didn't do Why do I have to GO TO JAIL? Y'ALL DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO BEAT MY KIDS. Why do I have to BE THE ONE TO GO TO JAIL AND I DIDN'T DO NOTHING? BRO, >> LET'S GO. We're not There's one more number. Come on. >> I didn't do nothing. >> I mean, we're giving you the benefit of the doubt. That's your dad's number. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. That's a 513 number. >> Okay. They call your property. >> Do you want to button up your pants first? >> You said you have all the messages on there from you and Abigail, right? >> Most of them. Not all of them. >> But is there anything in here that's going to help us? >> Prove that I didn't beat my kids and y'all TAKING ME TO JAIL right now. I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. LIKE, WHY AM I GOING TO JAIL? I DIDN'T DO NOTHING. >> CHARITY, you want to give me the passcode so we can get the messages out of you. If this helps you, we need the passcode. >> How do you >> Am I going to get my phone back? I'm >> Yes. When we're done with it, we're talking a couple days. When you get out, >> I don't even know if I'm going to get out. >> You'll get It's Franklin County. >> You have anything else on you? >> No. BUT WHY AM I GOING TO JAIL? AND I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO BEAT my kids. >> Explain it to you, >> bro. It doesn't matter WHAT YOU EXPLAINED. I DIDN'T BEAT MY KIDS. YOU'RE TAKING ME TO JAIL, BUT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW THE BEAT MY KIDS. >> We're going to go walk this way. Charity, >> can you grab that piece OF PAPER UNDERNEATH THIS NUMBER? >> We will. We will. >> Oh, Tyrone, I love you. >> Walk straight out the door. >> I didn't do nothing. YOU WERE TAKING YOU TO SEE HOW WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO TOOK MY KEY. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO BEAT MY KIDS BUT TAKING ME TO JAIL. Like I didn't do nothing. >> Traffic warrants. Huh? >> What? >> You have traffic warrants as well. >> How the D US had a call with like what? >> A traffic warrant. When? >> I don't know. >> You ask WHEN >> I GOT THAT taken care of. I shouldn't have did this. So that's why the deal. >> Well, it doesn't work. >> I'm saying there's also that. SO, WHEN AM I GOING TO GET OUT? >> You want me to see a judge? >> If they let me out, I didn't do nothing. >> Charity confessed to involuntary manslaughter, endangerment, and felonious assault. It was later determined that Arya had passed away from blunt force trauma to the head. On March the 12th, 2025, Judge Levani sentenced Charity to 15 to 20 years in prison.
