And I'm walking past you, about to hit me. He's about to hit me with the No, matter of fact, she was about to hit me with the door. He was out the car and that's when the other girl came around from the passenger seat with the other girl and tried to walk up on me. You think I'm going to bump into him and hit me? No. I was trying to I was trying to be the bigger person. >> Um when she reached in the car, did she take the phone? >> Yes, she took my video. You going in the car. She was >> She I don't know. I won't even tell y'all no lie. >> From this reckless Karen who lost her job for assaulting customers to this Karen who stole over $9,000 from her employers by fraudulently loading up gift cards. >> Load them up and then cashing them out the register without actually putting any money in the till, closing the drawer, and then pocketing the card. Okay. >> Stop. Stop. >> Mike, no. >> We'll call off. >> We'll call off. >> We're going to call off. >> We'll call off. >> We'll call off. >> We'll call off. >> No, daddy. My daddy is coming for me. >> Here are several moments when dumb Karens realize that they're getting arrested at their jobs. We begin with Caitlyn, a clueless US Postal Service truck driver whose drunk driving left everyone, including her boss, speechless. >> All right. Is there any reason you're driving all over the road? >> No. >> All right, cuz we got multiple calls saying that you were driving in the opposite lane of travel. We got behind you and you were in the opposite lane of travel. Are you a Postal Service supervisor? Yeah, she's getting arrested today. She is drunk. >> On April the 12th, 2025, during a sunny afternoon, the Melbourne Police Department received a disturbing call about a US Postal Service truck speeding down the wrong side of the road with zero regard for lives and property. Officers quickly spotted the truck stopped at a red light and moved in for a traffic stop, determined to end the madness before it turned into an ugly situation. >> Do you have any disabilities, anything like that? >> Um PTSD. >> PTSD, that's it? Do you have your ID on you? >> Um no. >> Okay, what's your name? >> Uh Caitlyn. >> What's that? >> Uh Caitlyn. >> So, you're you got locked out of your phone or you having trouble getting your password right? >> No. I'm trying to charge it. >> You're trying to charge it, you couldn't open it up, anything? >> No. >> Oh, all right. >> I have to have another cell phone with me. What did you say, ma'am? You have another cell phone with you? >> Um does this I don't know if there's registration or insurance for it, anything like that? >> No, there's not. >> Okay. What's your um >> I can't talk to you for about 5 seconds. >> What's your uh like area where you deliver? >> Um number 640 East New Haven. >> 640 East New Haven. All right, so you're all around this area? >> Yes. >> All right. Is there any reason you're driving all over the road? >> No. >> Okay, cuz we we got multiple calls saying that you were driving in the opposite lane of travel. We got behind you, and you were in the opposite lane of travel. Are you going through something emotionally? >> Um a little bit, yeah. >> Okay. >> Um I lost a baby. >> Okay. Sorry to hear that. >> Yeah. Other than that, no. >> Okay. Nothing else that would be affecting your driving? Okay. So, you're just driving in the opposite lane of travel because you're not paying attention, you >> I wasn't paying attention because I was trying to get my phone cuz the supervisor was calling me, and I was like >> Okay. Do you have any Do you have anything illegal in the vehicle, any alcohol, any drugs, anything like that? Okay. Uh do you mind Yeah, do you mind taking the key out, putting this in park? You take Take the key out. I think that's mission. Is it in park? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Can I hold on to the car keys? >> Um no. >> No? >> I don't think so. Also >> Anything unpleasant could have happened because of her recklessness and letting her continue would be an even more unforgivable mistake. With the dilemma seemingly looking like a ticking time bomb on the road, she forced the officers to guide the conversation toward a strategy that might finally reveal what was really going on. >> Okay. Do you mind stepping out of the vehicle cuz we are going to be be doing field sobriety exercises with you because I do believe you are under the influence. >> All right. >> Dorit or anything, go ahead and step out. We're going to walk over here. Step back over here. Hey, you see that? Yeah, right over there. That way. Right over here to where this black car is. No, we're good. Hey, walk behind her so you can see her. You're good. All the way up to this black car. Do you see where all those lines are? Hey, do you have a AR? All right. So, have you been using You been drinking, anything like that? Have you ever had issues with your current job with any of those? >> No, never. >> No, no complaints made about your driving, anything like that? Is this Do you have anything illegal on you? >> No. >> When we did the traffic stop, I was watching you the entire time. What did you shove in your pocket? Was it a weapon or something? >> Uh I don't I just had my keys. >> All right, what's that right there? >> I'm laying on it. >> Do you mind if I search you? >> Yeah, go ahead. >> Go ahead and walk me down to the pat down. All right, just for weapons, okay? Just cuz we asked. We asked her. >> What? I don't have anything. >> You don't have any box cutters cuz I know you're a UPS driver or anything like that. >> Yeah. >> And my ID is in my car. >> We're just patting you down for weapons. That's it. All right, do you normally wear glasses at all? >> Yeah. >> You do? You just not have them with you? >> Uh I have contacts. >> You have contacts in? >> Okay. >> All right, anything that will prevent you from seeing straight, looking straight? All right. I now request that you perform several physical and verbal exercises to determine your ability to perform the exercises and follow simple instructions. Do not begin any of the exercises until you until I tell you to do so. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Do you have any physical impairment that would prevent you from standing on one foot or walking in a straight line? >> No. >> Your refusal to do these exercises may be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Put your feet together and your arms at your side. All right. Do you see my finger right here? >> Yep. >> All right. Um Follow Follow my fingers with your eyes only keeping your head still. Do you understand? >> Uh >> Keep looking at my finger until I tell you to stop. Do you understand? >> Yeah. >> All right. All right, so I'm going to have you step over to this line over here. You see the straight line? Uh if you want to go back here towards the back of it. You may now begin. >> 1,001, 1,002, 1,003, 1,004, 1,005, 1,006, 7, 1,008, 1,009, 1,010, 1,011, 1,012. Keep going. >> Same foot? >> Keep going. >> 1,013, 1,014, 1,015, 1,016, 1,017, 1,018, 1,019, 1,020. >> And stop. All right. >> She gave the test her best shot, but the shots that she had gulped down earlier denied her any status. However, she remained optimistic, which wasn't surprising coming from someone who drove with a smile against traffic. >> All right, based on my observations, I believe you should be impaired. Now is the time to be really truthful. Have you had anything to drink today? Okay. How recently did you have something to drink? >> About 3 hours ago. I didn't sleep last night. >> Okay, so you had something 3 hours ago. What were in those cups that you were throwing out the window? >> I didn't throw any cups out the window. >> So a vehicle was behind you the entire time. They watched you throw stuff out the window, so >> I didn't throw anything out the window. >> Did you Did something I know your door was open, did it fall out the window? You had a red solo cup, right? >> No, I did not. >> Okay. >> I did not. >> What are we going to find in the truck? >> Nothing. >> No? >> Just nail. >> Okay. And how much did you have to drink? >> Just one. >> One what? >> One vodka. >> One vodka, how tall? One vodka to me >> No, it's like maybe two two shots. >> Two shots? What time ago was that? What time? Are you Are you tracking all this? >> Probably about 45 minutes ago. >> 45 minutes ago right now? Where'd you have it at? >> I don't remember who you were with. >> Were you Like with who? Like your friends or >> Um uh personal uh >> No, it's okay. >> Just like personal like >> Like how did you get it? How did you get it? >> From the like client. >> Were you delivering mail over there? You were delivering mail at a house? >> Yeah, and it was like the 50th birthday party. >> Okay. How long did you stay over there? >> Um about maybe 10 15. >> 10 15 minutes? >> Uh yeah, I took my 10-minute break there. >> Okay, and then how many drinks did you have again? I'm sorry. You said You said five? >> No, I didn't say five. >> You said how many? >> Two. >> And you're like >> of vodka. >> And you're like this off two shots of vodka? >> I don't ever drink. >> You don't ever drink? Did you say you drank last night? >> No. >> So, the first time you were drinking was today? >> Yeah, I haven't drank in like 6 months cuz I was pregnant. >> Okay. >> And then I got rid of the miscarriage. Um got rid of the baby. >> All right, we're going to do one exercise. One more exercise. Why don't you walk to the front of this Or sorry, did you have any more questions? >> No. >> No? Okay. Yeah, that's probably it. Just walk to the One more exercise. Walk to the front of this car. >> Okay. >> What? Have you ever been arrested before? >> No. >> No? Okay. At least the car's secure. You're okay. >> Okay. >> That's good. She's over there. Talk to her. >> Yeah. >> Talk to her for a minute. off at the post office? >> Yeah, I get well we can't drop her off at the post office here. So I'll make sure I'll make sure to follow up. So are you willing to submit to a breathalyzer test? >> Yeah. >> Okay. We're going to come and have you stand over here, okay? And then you got a BTO, right? >> Yeah. >> Probably not. >> Well, try to grab your phone. >> The shift for the day was over in an instant. That was the easy part. The officers quickly took matters to a level she never saw coming. A place her alcohol-clouded judgment had not prepared her for. >> So we can't have you eat or drink anything. >> Okay. >> You want to go ahead and stand next to We're going to go to the police department, okay? I got your phone, okay? Is your supervisor Do you have her number? >> Uh yeah. >> Got it. And then we'll let you we'll if you need to we'll have you make a call. So the step out cuz it's a little strong. Are they at work right now? Can I talk to her? Shane? Okay. Shane? Okay. Hey, this is FTO Luke on the other side. This is FTO Luke with Melbourne Police Department. What was your name again? >> Uh Kate. >> I'm out here with Kate at University in Babcock. She's going to jail today or correction University of Lipscomb. Are you working right now? Are you a postal service supervisor? Yeah, she's getting arrested today. She is drunk. She's on Oh, actually we Yeah, we just got another one that showed up. Yeah, I guess another guy in a postal truck just showed up. Oh. Yeah, no. Yeah, she was in the mail truck, almost hit vehicles. She's getting followed. Yeah, so we're going to be taking her to jail. Um and she told me to call you. Yeah. We're at Lipscomb University. Uh 82 23 just now. All right, I'll hold on. Are you the manager? No, he was passing by and he was passing by. Oh, okay. 82, go ahead. One second, I'm talking to dispatch and somebody else. It's okay. Okay. Yeah, okay. So, yeah, I guess they're having trouble contacting y'all. So, if you don't mind calling them, I'll be on hold, okay? All right. And I'm also on the phone with her manager, but she's not at work. So, she's going to call somebody as well. Okay, and I'll just be on the phone with her. You're on everything? >> Yeah. >> Okay, I'm trying to uh we're getting manager. He was just passing by. >> Okay. >> So. >> Hello. >> Hello. >> Hello, Mr. Policeman. >> Yes, I'm here. >> Okay, I have my supervisor that's on duty on the phone. Can you tell him where you are? >> Hey, I'm on Lipscomb University. We're here with Caitlyn's truck. Hey, I'm 10-12 with the supervisor on duty now. >> Okay. >> 82, I'm laying live with the supervisor on duty. You can 22 the request. Uh I'm sorry, sir. So, I'm at University of Lipscomb with Caitlyn and the truck. Uh the mail is still in the truck. We got a call from a concerned citizen that observed the vehicle throw a solo cup out the car. We made contact with Caitlyn. Uh we seen her mail truck. She was driving on the opposite side of the roadway. >> What's her name? >> The supervisor's name? >> No. >> Caitlyn. >> Caitlyn? >> Yeah, or Kate. No, she I'm talking about the suspect. I'm talking to other officers. There's like four of us out here. No, you're all good. So, uh if you don't mind coming on scene or sending somebody cuz we can't tow it with the mail. Yeah, we're at Lipscomb University and we're we have an officer here. We're at the MLK library. And and let me see one second. Hey Hey, sir, what's your name? Matt? Matt. Okay, so Matt is on scene here. In the end, she was transported to the police station where she provided two breath samples. The results came back at 0.1 and 0.099 BAC, both above the 0.08 level widely recognized as causing significant impairment. She was ultimately charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain her lane, and crossing the median of a divided highway. Caitlyn was awful, but she had nothing on the next employee who was dumb enough to try stealing a luxury vehicle from his job. Proves that unchecked guts don't stand a chance when paired with zero brain cells. >> Here you go. Here you go. Here you go. >> Yes, sir. >> Yes, sir. >> So, why are you getting in this car? Screen Your story is like a screen door on a submarine. It ain't It ain't making a bit of sense and it ain't holding no water. >> Jewel? Yes, sir. >> I'm just saying, is this your water? >> Yeah, but I don't think that's somebody else's. >> It's mine. Like I said, I was cleaning out a car and >> On January the 24th, 2024, officers were called to a car rental company about an employee who had just finished their shift. But instead of heading home, something else was already in motion. What appeared routine on the surface was quietly masking a plan that had been building for some time. >> What's going on out here? >> A mishap A mishap in the car. >> A mishap >> A mishap in the car. >> A mishap? >> I stored the car in the wrong location. >> Okay. Is this your car? Are you working Are you working here? >> I work here. >> So >> is a It's the It's the company's car. >> So where were you supposed to store it then? >> I didn't know I didn't know where it was supposed to go, so I dropped it off here and I went back over there and and got another car and took it where I had to take it to. >> You took another car? >> Cuz I had >> Yeah. So where were you supposed to take the car then? >> I guess I I guess I I take it to the airport. >> Okay. So you said you you work out here? >> Yes, sir. >> For who? >> I work for Avis Budget. >> Okay. >> Yeah, so he drove it from over there. >> Okay, you drive this car then? >> Park it. >> Um my social >> Do you have an ID or anything? >> Yes, I do. >> So what time did you come in today? >> Came in at 7:00 this morning 8:00 this morning. >> 8:00? You still working or did you get off? >> Uh I just clocked out. >> Okay. >> So earlier >> What? What time? >> Earlier today we I witnessed this car leave the Avis lot. >> Okay. >> Park in this spot. He got out of it. >> Okay. >> Um he just got off work and said that he had left the car here, left the keys in it, which the keys were not in it when I looked at it an hour ago. >> Okay. >> Um got in the car that was locked because I came out and checked. There was no keys and car was not Got in it and we blocked him in before he could take off. But >> Okay. Uh, I'm going to assume you all want prosecution, correct? >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> Is there a video that we can get of that vehicle coming out here? Do you guys have that? >> He didn't drive this one out here. I didn't give him a chance. >> Okay, so when you guys blocked that >> He drove it from over there at 10:54 this morning. >> Okay. >> Parked it here. Normally we don't back cars in. >> Okay. >> Um he got off work a few minutes ago. Witnessed him come out to the car. >> Okay. >> After I'd already seen him leave the car at like 10:55. >> It's done. >> He came out and he's telling me that if the keys were in it and I asked him what he's doing now and he said he was just getting in the car. Okay. >> Okay, so So, did you witness him get in the car at all? Okay. >> Yep. >> All right. >> Yep. >> Okay, so what's going on, bud? >> Honestly, sir, okay. I I transport cars. Earlier, when I transported this car when I got out the gate, my team had already left. So, they told me to park the car at PM. I just I recently just started working here. I didn't know where to park the car. I brought it over here. Who's they? >> You said they told you to. Who's they? >> It was a guy over there. It was a guy over there. >> Okay, give me give me a detailed description. >> All right. He He cleaned out the car. All I know is he came up to me and said, "Put this car in PM." And I didn't know where it went. So, I brought it over here. I I've seen someone bring a car over here and drop it off cuz they didn't know where it went. I left the car here, went back over there, got another part, and went to go do finish doing my job. >> How long you been doing this? >> You talking about this job? >> Uh-huh. >> I've been doing it 2 weeks. >> Okay. >> At face value, the situation seemed like a simple misunderstanding. But once the officers started asking the right questions, it became clear that there was far more going on than anyone could see at first glance. >> And I have never had to deal with the PM before. That's what I'm saying. >> But you said you were >> I already clocked out, right? >> I just parked out. >> You just parked >> I just parked out. >> So then they told you to get the vehicle after you were out of uh out of work or something? >> No, sir. >> So what were you doing? What were you trying to do since you had already clocked out? >> I was reacting. I'm getting ready to go home. >> You were getting ready to go home? >> Yes, sir. >> Yes, sir. >> So why are you getting in this car? You You realize You realize that this story You know You know what a submarine is, right? >> Sir? >> You know what a submarine is, right? Like it goes under the water, you know, US Navy uses them. You know what a screen door is, right? >> Uh yes, sir. >> Okay. Screen Your story's like a screen door on a submarine. It ain't It ain't making a bit of sense, and it ain't holding no water. >> Sir. I parked I parked the car. I'm telling you exactly what happened. I parked the car. I did not know where it went. I left it here, sir. I went I left the part here, sir. I went back to to fulfill my job duty. I went back over there, got another part like I was supposed to, and I took it where it had to go. >> What time did they tell you to take it to the PM? >> Um I dropped this off like around 12. So I would say around 12 when I parked it and been here. So I just got off of work. >> So an unknown dude, white dude, black dude, Asian, Hispanic? >> Hispanic. >> Okay. So unknown Hispanic dude that you can't give me a description of told you to drop drop it off at PM. So who Who's your boss? What's his name? >> I would say they're in my phone. >> Okay, so who did you ask for PM or cuz when my sergeant tells me something to do something that I don't know or go someplace where I don't know I go, "Hey man, I go I go hey man, you got to I need a little bit of help. Can you talk to me? I'm not sure where to go and all that." So, who did you talk to to get any clarification on that? >> My crew My crew had left, so like I said, I seen someone I've seen certain I'm >> Mhm. >> I've seen someone do exactly this before, so I I did it. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. Um tell you what. What we're going to do right now, face that fence. Face the fence. Okay. Right now, you have a warrant for your arrest minimum out of San Antonio. We're confirming that, so you're not under arrest at this point in time, but you are being legally >> detained. >> Okay, you have anything on you that's going to poke us, stick us, stab us, blow us up, anything like that? >> Blow us up. >> Okay, he's he's going to pat you down real quick. >> Yes, sir. >> Um cuz like I said, you real you realize this story makes zero sense that you're telling me. I mean, just be be honest. Be a thousand percent honest. So, you're telling me that you're such a good employee that working for the temp company and everything >> working for the temp company. I work directly with Avis Budget. >> Okay, so you're telling me that you're such a good employee that after you clock out, you're going to keep moving cars for them for free? >> No, I won't. >> Well, you said you were you said you've already clocked out and you were gone for the day and you were coming over to this car. >> This This car has been sitting here since 12. >> Okay, but you you told us already you clocked out for the day. >> I told you that >> you were coming over here. >> The officers didn't bother hiding their disgust, but they also didn't let it cloud their judgment. Instead, they kept exploring, determined to see whether there was even the slightest chance his story held any truth. >> Okay. Uh I'm going to verify something with them and we're going to we're going to go from there. >> So Corey, when he brought the car over here, was he supposed to bring it over here? The one he was supposed to bring over here. >> That's none of your business how he got it over here. >> How did you get it over here? >> He He told me >> He drove it over here, parked it, locked it, and then he went and did his job with the uh crew. And then after he clocked out, he came and got in it. We checked the car, it was locked. Windows were up. >> So y'all seen the car over here before? >> Yeah, yeah, we caught it on camera. >> Oh no, y'all seen it on camera. And he had the What key did he have? >> The key to the car. >> So he got the key from where? >> He brought it from >> From over here, across the street. >> Drove it over here and parked it earlier today, locked it all up, then got in the van and did his job. When he clocked out, he came and got in it. >> And he took the car. >> To take the car. >> Hello, Corey. How are you, sir? It's always me. How you doing? All right. So does he work directly for y'all? Okay. So were they informed that they are not allowed to have any vehicles out here whatsoever? Okay. So his story to us right now is that he was told to take car to PM, he didn't know where PM was, his team already left, blah blah blah. I mean we all kind of know that story. Like I told him, it holds about as much water as a screen door on a submarine, so verifying that y'all are going to press charges, all that. So if it's here, you can definitely say unauthorized use of motor vehicles cuz they don't have the permission to park those cars here unless given to by one of the all correct? Okay. Yeah, I I I've heard the usual story. They told me who's they? I don't know. >> What were you going to do with the car now? >> Yeah. He goes, "Well, I already clocked out." And I go, "So, you're telling me you're such a good employee that you're going to keep shuttling cars after you clocked out for the day?" All right. Well, tell you what, at this point you are under arrest for what's called UUMV, unauthorized use of motor vehicle. I verified I Trust me, I know these folks over here. I have been on more calls with them than my partner here actually for the time that I've been here. They you aren't They They told me that you had been instructed that you are not under any circumstances to put a vehicle in this lot. >> I was not instructed. >> Okay, but I I'm not going to argue. I had dealt with them I've dealt with them on some pretty unsavory stuff, okay? I know their word is solid, okay? So, when they tell me that you've been instructed when you were employed that no car is coming this lot unless specifically instructed by one of them, that that's UUMV. You were not allowed to drive that vehicle over here or anything like that. So, that's going to be one arrest charge. Then we're going to see what that warrant out of San Antonio does. So, you're going to have the warrant added to your arrest as well. >> The shortcut he tried had made an avoidable trip unavoidable and far messier. A special talent for the dumb and reckless. But no matter how badly he had messed things up, the officers were still about to get a shock they had not seen coming. >> Go ahead and stand up cuz now you're going to be searched. >> Excuse me, I was never notified that I couldn't bring a car over here. I was I was bringing all of it. >> Got that out of car earlier. >> Huh? >> Got that out of the car. >> Yeah, that was in one of the cars. >> turn it in? >> Hey Court, I really just just thought about it, honestly. >> Uh-huh. >> Court. Court. What's What's the name on that uh card? >> So, was that driver's license that you gave me originally, that was yours, right? Okay. >> I don't want to hook you up on a warrant that that ain't yours, you know what I'm saying? That's why I'm asking. >> No, that that was in a car that we cleaned and I just I mean, we was moving so much that I just didn't turn it in. >> Is this your wallet? >> Yes, sir. >> Is yours? >> Yes, sir. >> saying, is your wallet? >> Yes, sir. >> Or is that somebody else's? It's mine. >> Like I said, I was cleaning out a car and I just I just so happened to forget to turn it in. >> You said you don't clean the car. >> Court, we moved the car, I'm saying that was in it. >> We got extra stuff, too. >> Oh, okay. >> I mean, two pieces of identifying information, credit cards. >> Oh, nice. >> Supposedly that it was in a vehicle he forgot to turn it in. >> Okay, well, too bad. I mean, let me inform him of that. >> It'll be actually identifying information. And then we can call the guy and see the credit cards were used to it. >> Yeah. >> We might have to notify him. Credit card information. But uh the manager is going to check and see if somebody had a reservation about the room, too. >> Okay. All right. Cameron. All right. Because you have these things in your po- in your possession right here, you're also going to be charged with fraudulent use or possession of identifying informa- of identifying information. You said that you you found them in the car and all that. If you'd have turned them in, that'd have been something different. So, that's going to be And they have processes that when you find stuff in the cars, you go and you turn that in immediately. Okay. And if you use them, then there will be additional charges follow, okay? All right. I'm just giving you the heads-up. Thank you. You have his real ID? Yeah. So, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 So, okay. Yeah. So, those are yours. Who found those? >> He did. >> You did? Okay. All right. That's even even better. UUMV doesn't say it has to be on a public road and he's not allowed to bring it in here anyway. So, the second you brought it in here, there's your UUMV. We'll do the fraudulent use. He said that he found them earlier in the car, didn't turn them in, but hey, y'all, he's off the clock at this point. So, it's too bad. >> Like I said, there you go. The manager's going to pull the reservation to see if anybody even had a reservation done there. >> Okay. >> You going to any additional other than UUMV? >> Uh fraudulent fraudulent use of >> possession >> and fraudulent use / possession of identifying information. >> At the time of making this video, there was no update on the status of his charges. The last Karen played a foolish game and ended up winning an expensive prize, just like the next dumb Karen, who got arrested on her job for running a fraudulent gift card scheme worth thousands of dollars. >> Loading debit cards up with some 400 to 450 at a time, loading them up and then cashing them out the register without actually putting any money in the till, closing the drawer, and then pocketing the card. >> Okay, I'm I'm I'm talking Okay, what what what is >> No, no, no, no, no. We'll figure it out after. >> No, no, no, no, no. >> I I got to get my daughter something for me. >> Okay, look at me. You Are you listening to me? >> On September 6th, 2023, officers with the Palm Beach Sheriff's Department were called to a local Walmart. A brand new employee was already being investigated for a deceptively simple fraud scheme that had already gone undetected. While working as a cashier, she quite stole money by swapping gift cards before anyone caught on. >> I observed the subject known as Zuleidys loading debit cards up with 2400 to 450 at a time, loading them up and then cashing them out the register without actually putting any money in the till, closing the drawer, and then pocketing the card. >> Okay. Um How would you describe this store is? What would she look like? Do you know her physical characteristics? >> Um vaguely. I'd say mid-20s maybe early 30s uh light brown skin. >> Is she black, white? >> Uh black I'd say Caucasian that's it. >> Okay so she's a black >> black female probably in her mid-20s. >> Yeah. >> And does she have dark colored hair? >> Uh she changes up her hair color every now and then but yes. >> Okay. All right but if you were able to physically see her within the store you'd be able to physically identify her. >> Yes. >> Okay. Do you know if the business wants to pursue prosecution? >> After getting the full scoop from the asset protection agent the officers asked to speak with the employee who unbelievably had already added to her growing list of troubles while still on the clock. >> I'm going to offer you a recorded statement. You have the right to remain silent and not answer any questions. Before you make any statement questions. Okay. I have everything I need so Okay. Does she have any personal property? >> DNA I will personal property. >> The moment of reckoning had finally caught up with her. And this time there was no middle ground. The officers approached her meticulously with the hard facts and exact figures that left little room for interpretation. Or at least that was their thought. >> I know I know it's in my recent document. >> Somewhere on the beach. >> What time was she guys going to let us leave work? >> What time was that again? >> 5:30. 5:30. >> 5:30. >> She said her dad. >> He not getting it. >> dad helped her. >> He got that parent to let them go. >> I'll do it about 8:30 so >> That's that's >> That's going to Can I get set up? >> All right, we'll cross that bridge We'll just take off the vest and then Yeah, we'll just go ahead and get that when we get the >> So my dad he got the money >> I deposit computer computer for a little while. According to court records, she had stolen just over $9,000 in only 3 weeks. She was later sentenced to 24 months of probation. The last Karen was dumb to say the least, just like this teen who got arrested at work after pulling off a theft scheme that raked in over $2,000. >> And you can be searched and all your belongings >> Hang on. Just listen to me, okay? Do you know the total dollar amount of money you took? >> They told me to stop that. >> And how were you doing this? >> The first I just took cash and then I was just scanning the gift cards. >> On November the 11th, 2024, grocery store management called the police after spotting serious irregularities in their numbers. At first, it could have been chalked up to system errors or simple mistakes, but the truth was far darker. The issue was eventually traced back to stolen gift cards, more than $2,400 worth, activated without payment between August and November. The management had already narrowed their search down to one person. >> Since August 19th until November 5th, she has been activating gift cards without paying for them and then keeping the gift cards for herself. That's a total of 17 uh $1,724.95 of losses that she has been causing. >> Okay. >> Uh Now, she also said that she had taken about $300 in cash, but I don't have any evidence of that, but that's just what she told me. He doesn't know. >> Okay. >> I've been taking money to buy food for me. >> What's the home life situation? Is it just you and your sister? >> It's my mom. She works a lot, so she's not really there. So, it's basically me and my sister, but she's with my older sister right now. She's been doing it for a few months now. I guess she also admitted to taking cash, as well. But due to the dollar amount, it does constitute a felony. >> Felony? >> So, we don't have discretion on it. She's got to go. They were They're persistent on pursuing it. >> So, >> if you'd like, you can talk to her. >> Here, I'm going to take my password off so you can get into my Call everybody that's in my phone. At first, it seemed like it might be a simple misunderstanding, but that hope faded fast once the customers began recounting their version of events. >> Hello. Okay. Um, how long you been working at 7-Eleven? >> Um I want to say almost a month. A month and yeah, about a month. >> You said about a month? >> over, yes. >> Okay. Would you Where you work before this? >> Um, McDonald's. Well, actually, I was a I wasn't at McDonald's for long. I was only there for like a few days. But I was at I was a CNA and all that stuff. >> Okay, so you were there. Okay. All right. So, real quick before we get into any further into details, I just want to read you something real quick. It's kind of a procedure. Have you ever been read your rights before? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, you've been arrested before or not? >> What were you arrested for? >> Um my previous charges um uh What was it? Fraud. It was fraudulent stuff. I can't tell you the exact charge, but I know >> It was like fraud-related? >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. How long ago was that? >> Um about two to three months, I want to say. >> Two to three months. Okay. All right. So, uh I'll read you this real quick just kind of get it out the way and then we can talk further, okay? You understand your rights? >> Mhm. >> Yeah. It's need you say yes. >> Yes. >> Thank you. All right. So, you've been working at 7-Eleven for for about a month or maybe a little over. Uh before that, you spent a little time at McDonald's. You did a CNA. All right. Certified nurse assistant. Okay. Um All right. Do you like working at 7-Eleven? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Are you going to school or anything like that currently? No? All right. >> I just have three babies. >> You got three kids. Okay. All right. So, you said the fraud case you previously had, you said it was a few months ago. >> Yes, but we're it hasn't been like finished. I'm going through it still. >> kind of going through it? Okay. >> Suddenly, the officer dropped the hard question. A question he already had answers for. They were meant as bait, a way to measure the person in front of it. >> The reason why you're here today, um obviously there's there's been some concern uh in reference to charity donations at work. You know what I'm talking about. All right, can you tell me what's going on with that? >> I haven't did anything wrong. By me starting being new, I work up under somebody else's numbers. They gave me numbers for my own register, but they weren't working this morning when I tried to put them in. From my understanding, I mean I was still in the system for everything. So I don't really know too much about that. >> So that like in numbers as as far as I can like explain >> Register like >> Each employee has a different register number? Okay. All right, so you kind of yours wasn't working or something like that. So you >> She just had gave them to me. What was it? I was off yesterday. So the day before that she gave me them. I tried them this morning. They wouldn't work. Um, so I work up under someone else's numbers. >> Okay. Is it multiple people's numbers you work under or is it >> Just her. >> Just one specifically? >> Yes, whoever like is over that shift when I get there. >> Like whatever manager or something like that? Okay. >> Well, she's not a manager, but she's I guess a lead. >> Okay, like a like a team lead. Okay. All right, so the first thing you said is like I mean you didn't do anything wrong. >> Yeah. >> You wouldn't say that. >> Because I haven't. I mean they wouldn't really tell me anything >> Okay. >> was up there, but I haven't done anything. I'm going through too much to be >> Yeah. >> The experienced interrogator resorted to a more subtle line of questioning, especially as the suspect denied an obvious truth, tempting her to reveal herself. >> Are you going through like just hard times right now at home or something like that? >> Not really. I mean of course bills, but >> Yeah. Everybody's >> care of three kids, but that's really it. >> Okay. So >> what was brought up um reference to these donations um is I guess there's a barcode that needs to be scanned. Um and management was able to review cameras and stuff. So, uh so, they got you scanning the barcodes um and then essentially later pocketing the cash. >> Pocketing? >> The cash out of the register. >> When did I pocket? >> I'm sorry? >> When did I pocket >> Uh there's apparently there was several incidents. Um so, that's that's what they brought up to us to our attention. This is why we're here right now. And that's that's what I'm trying to figure out cuz I obviously you're saying one thing. >> Yeah. I don't have >> have they have video showing something entirely different. Yeah. So, I mean, if you're going through hard times cuz I get it. You know what I mean? We all go through difficult challenges and stuff. Like I especially financial issues. I know you know, being a parent, you know, money can is tough. Especially, you know, it's for you and you have other responsibilities and people to take care of. And if if that's the case, is that something that that led to this? Like I understand. >> I >> I mean, but it's it's I'm talking to cuz I want you to be straight with me cuz if you're being dishonest, then that says something totally different. And now we have video showing otherwise. I mean, it's I'd rather you just be straight with me. Say, "Hey, look. I messed up. I'm not perfect." And I get that cuz no one's perfect. But if you're saying one thing and then I have evidence to say otherwise and it's not matching up, then that I mean, that shows a different character and I don't looking at you, I don't think you're like that. You know what I mean? I don't think you're that type of person. I mean, you're you're young. You're you know, you're still trying to make plans and grow, you know, I mean, raise your family. And I get that. I mean, it's if you made a mistake, I mean, this is this is me talking to I want you to just be honest. So, that way we can figure out what's going on. And if there's some assistance or anything like that that, you know, programs that can be offered, like let's let's figure out what's out there that we can go over. I mean, because >> silly thing is cuz I ain't never been here. >> Yeah. >> Like, my first time being arrested, they took me straight down to what was it? Marion County Jail. So, like, am I under arrest? >> Well, right now, there's obviously an investigation going on. So, based off of the investigation, it's kind of pointing toward you. So, I would like to talk to you. I mean, and get an understanding of what's going on. That's That's why you're here right now. >> Yes. >> I mean, cuz me just taking you to jail, what what are we achieving out of that? >> Yeah. >> I mean, no one gets to hear your story, and this is this is your chance to come out and say, "All right, look, if you made a mistake, I mean, I get that. You know, just let it be known. But if you choose not to talk and you just want to go the route like nothing happened, but everything else is showing otherwise, then, you know, the judge you go to trial, jury's going to see all that. And again, you don't seem like that type of person. >> With the interrogator moving from a confrontational to a more empathetic approach, she leaned in, whether out of curiosity or as part of another sly maneuver. >> I mean, no one's perfect, and I get that. I mean, and this is your opportunity to kind of explain that and come on up. Does that make sense? >> Yeah. >> So, tell me what's going on and what happened. Do you Cuz they got you on video taking cash out of the register. >> So, it doesn't show me it being on me. It just shows it me come cuz I have Regardless, we have to drop money. >> Mhm. >> Regardless. So, I have to take cash out of there anyways every time we get a big bills over big bills. >> Yeah. >> And we have to insert it and we have to do all the computer stuff anyways. >> Okay. >> So, that's >> It's What I'm saying is they have you Have you taken cash out of the register and then later putting in your pocket? So, there and then there's been multiple scans of cash donation under your name and other employees' names. Uh but it's it's only you doing it on video. And then later the cash is removed, your pocket is pocketed, and then the drawers are short that amount of money. >> So, I'm pocketing the money. >> That's That's what they said they have you on video doing. >> Cuz I use the red things that are in the red brown things that the money go in. Normally, when you put it in if you drop the money, literally, I write on those and everything. So, that's what I'm saying. I use those and I do have like stuff that I don't wrote on that I don't put in my pocket and everything, but >> Yeah. >> as far as like money, I don't have any money. >> Okay. All right. So, can you explain why your drawers are always short? >> I probably the way I rang stuff I mean cuz like I say, I'm fairly new. So, probably the way I run it in cuz now they got it where you have to have manager approval to do refunds and all that stuff. So, that's what I'm trying to understand. >> Perfect. This is why I'm here, too. I'm I'm trying to figure out what's going on. >> Yeah. >> So, I'm I'm just telling you this is the story I'm getting from manager, you know what I mean? And obviously this video. So, it's It's like that's showing one thing and then you're saying another thing. So, you see how it's like it's just not matching up. >> Yeah. >> So, that's that's the confusion and that's what we're trying to figure out. >> Well, I know I don't have no money. >> Okay. >> I I If I But, I don't have any money. >> Okay. So, we saw So, I I watched the video of one of the incidents, okay? Um You didn't have any customer. Uh you were just at the register um by yourself. Um you know, watching you scan the barcode. It's like you entered uh information on the computer, drawer opened, took out cash. >> But, see also >> When I'm When I'm Oh, you can talk. >> Went up to the side. Looks like you're counting some bills. >> Mhm. >> Um I believe I saw that vault where you were doing some drop. And then you walked over and you put some cash in a paper bag. And then later put the paper bag in your pocket. So, what happened to that cash that you put in the paper bag that you put in your pocket? >> I don't have no cash or nothing. That's what I'm saying. It It can literally easily be a Cuz I also use them paper bags also to write on. And I literally Like I don't have no cash. If I had the cash, I'd have the Okay. Yes, I got it. Whatever. But, I literally cuz it's the closest thing to me and the receipt papers, you can't automatically just press the button and it come out, you can write on it. I write on the brown ones a lot. So, I'm always putting that in my pocket. The ones that I write on. Which when they just got me, I was writing on them, two of them. And yeah. >> Writing what on on the bag? >> I was just basically I had some bills pay, but I was just making little notes on it. But, I didn't bring it in. >> Up to this point, she had demonstrated that she leaned in whenever the inspector spoke, but maintained her distance when responding. A clear tactic to argue and deflect, as she did with the previous paperback question. Still, the officer was holding back more than he revealed. >> Okay. All right. >> But, I don't have any money. Seriously, I don't have any money. >> So, but we we have you on video putting money in a paper bag and putting in the bag in your pocket. I I literally just watched the video. So, you're you're telling me something, but I I watched something entirely different. >> And what day is this? >> Um off the top of my head, I don't know date. Um but again, I I literally just watched the video. >> Sir, I don't have any money. >> Okay. All right. >> I can't leave my kids. I can't leave my kids. >> Excuse me, ma'am. You want to ask me a question? >> Um yes. Do you Do you know what is going to happen? Because I have a my son is at home and he has a second-degree burn and I was supposed to have an appointment. >> Okay. Um who's he at home with? >> He's at home with my grandmother right now. >> Okay. Um how old is he? >> He's two. >> All right. Well, miss um I have to be honest, right now I have probable cause for your arrest. All right. Uh based off the evidence, um shows that you stole money from the business, okay? Uh so, today you will be placed under arrest for organized fraud and grand theft. Um you're currently on bond? >> Yes. >> All right. There's again there's a good possibility that you're going to be no bonded. Um it's And again I I tried to speak to you you know me like you had an opportunity to come forward. Um but I'm just going to document you know our interview today and again all that information is going to be up to the judge during first appearance. Do you understand? >> Okay. >> All right. So just be patient and we'll get everything uh moving, okay? >> In the end she was charged with grand theft and organized fraud. While her reckless decision got her exactly what she deserved, she was no match for Miss Pedro, an employee whose baffling motive behind a goods return scam left officers genuinely speechless. >> I seen that he started to manipulate me a little bit. >> Money what? >> Manipulating. >> What does that mean? >> Basically I was just um grab like items and then do like a return and just like do it on the credit card. >> So each one of these customer names they're not real customers. >> No, sir. >> You made them up. >> Yes, I did. >> On March the 27th, 2023, Florida police were called to a local retail store after a shocking theft report. This time not about shoplifters, but an employee who had stolen over $5,000 through a string of internal transactions spanning several months. >> Female employee she's been with us since February or so. Um yesterday was her last staff but it's actually what she suggest three separate credit cards and she's been fraudulently crediting them nine times for a total of $4,600. So what she do is she just grab a whole bunch of merchandise, bring it to the register, stick in the credit card, act like she's returning merchandise but it didn't. I have a written statement of admission and this is her admission statement. >> Okay. >> And then I had her date and then initial and date each theft. So this is like the transaction that you stole. This is the transaction that you stole. This is the transaction that you stole. >> These are all the transactions? >> nine of them. And those are the dates of the amounts on the card. >> And she claims that she did it because her boyfriend is and he said if you don't pay him he'll hurt you or something. And I said >> Who is she? >> It's Erica. She stole the money. >> So, I told her you guys are coming and she said you got to do what you do. >> had any contact with her either, so. >> Okay. >> Um >> I don't know. I'm here tomorrow, too, so if you >> Can I read her admission? >> Go ahead. >> She was crediting returns of items onto her credit card. Oh, so essentially paying herself through this. >> Like like for example, like she she she returned all these items like and then made a couple >> charged what she bought them and then she would return them to herself. >> This customer name she just put in a dummy customer name, but I could see by the last name on the card it belongs to her. It actually prints out her name, so it's like Yeah, that's her name. And you can put it in whatever you want over here. But the card must make you can manually type in the name or something. >> No, she put in a dummy >> No, well she she can manually type in that name. It's really love? >> Yeah, that's the name she chose. >> She also used nine different names and uh mostly Jones is the last name she used, but um but this >> So, he's essentially this guy, whoever this is, is >> She he doesn't live >> pressuring me to give him money or he will return Right. >> Are you hot? >> Yeah. >> After reviewing the documents, the officers knew they still had to hear the employee's version because with a thorough and carefully planned investigation, they might uncover details the paperwork didn't reveal. >> I don't care. I don't care. I really don't. >> They're going to say that she can't explain >> Yeah. What's your first name? A N D >> A N D R >> I'm going to read you something. Do you have any questions about what I just read you? How long have you worked here? Few months? Like when were you hired? >> Uh like February I guess. >> February? Do you remember like mid-February, early February? How long have you lived in Florida? >> 4 months. >> 4 months? Okay. So we got called here in reference to essentially a theft. Um do you have any idea what the allegations are against you? >> Yes, I do. Um he just told me prior to this that he >> Who's he? >> Um my my friend. >> Who is he to the store? >> I don't know. Uh I think he's something he does. >> Um co-worker. Uh okay. So explain to me what happened. >> Um basically I met this guy I didn't know him just met him here. Um >> You met the you met a guy? >> Yeah. >> What's his name? >> Uh Miles. >> Miles? >> Yeah. M I L E Um >> M I L E S? >> Yes. >> What's Miles's last name? >> I don't know his last name. >> Um how long have you known him? >> Since I've been here. >> So you've known him for 4 months and you don't know his last name? >> Yeah. Um >> What's his phone number? >> What day was that? March what? >> March 18th. >> So, the last time you talked to him was over a week ago? >> Yeah. So, um at first when I met him, everything was fine. And I I >> Hey, can you get that for me? >> I told him I just wanted to be friends and he got a little violent. And like I seen that he started to manipulate me a little bit. >> Money what? >> Manipulate. >> What does that mean? >> Like he started to manipulate me. >> Oh, manipulate. Okay. I I I thought you said something else. That's fine. >> Um And like he wouldn't like hurt me, but like >> I'm still listening. >> Um like he would just do little little stuff like make me afraid of him. >> I'm still listening. >> And then he told me that like oh, like he needs some money. Like he needs some money or he's going to beat me and I gave him like all the money. Like I'll ask my parents all the time cuz they were the ones taking care of me when I was there. I'll ask my parents all the time. It's a little thing to a lot. And like he just like like it's either like you give me the money or like I'm going to beat you or or >> Has he ever beat beat you? >> The first time he tried to do that, I just started screaming and yelling. >> Where did this happen at? >> Uh this happened like outside of like my apartment complex and >> Who do you live with there? >> Um I have two roommates. >> So, have the roommates met Miles? >> Um no. No, no, no. They were >> Have your parents met Miles? >> No, they don't know about him. >> Okay. So, how would you give him the money? >> So, he made me open like a bank account and that account the name of that bank is called Suncoast Credit Union. But he made me open that up and he's like oh, just basically put the money in this account or if not, you can put it on this cash app or this He told me like open up >> So you would transfer it from whatever credit card you used to refund yourself the money? >> Yes. >> From the clothes. >> Yes. >> And you would transfer it to a cash app or this Sunset Credit Union? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> While the reason behind the employees dumb claims started to come to light, the officers knew there was still a lot left to uncover about the case. >> So if I pull up your bank account, it's going to show that? >> Yes, sir. Yeah. >> All right. Would Would you mind pulling your bank account up? >> And I'll also show you the him telling me to open it up. >> Do you have his Instagram or his Facebook? >> Um I have him on this app called Telegram. >> What type of phone is that? >> It's like a Slack or WhatsApp. >> It's not like pictures? >> No, it's it's a chat and messenger. >> All right. Let me Can you show me his your >> Yeah, I am showing you him telling me to open the account. >> Just so you're aware, you don't have to show me anything on your phone. >> Oh. Okay, then. >> Okay. >> All right. >> I just don't want you to feel like I'm forcing you to show me. >> Okay. >> So you don't want to show me? >> No. >> Okay, that's fine. Um but your phone would be evidence, so I do need it. Because I'll write a search warrant for it. And find the information out. All right. So he would transfer You would transfer the money to this Sunset Credit Card Union or Cash App. >> Yeah, and like sometimes, like he was really good at getting to me. And like I'm really good with people. So I'm like very nice. I'm very forgiving. So like he like lend me some like some of the money just like justify it. Like you know, like just to make sure like I'm in the right track and like I wouldn't snitch on him or anything like that. And yeah, that's it. >> His pager >> How old are you? >> I'm 18 years old. >> You're 18? You ever been arrested before? >> Never. >> Never? All right. What was his name? >> Michael. >> Michael? Did Michael have you write a letter? >> Yes, sir. >> Is this the letter he had you write? It is? Is that your name? >> Yes, sir. >> You signed this? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. All right. So, in this letter it says you started February 27th returning >> Yeah. >> Returning clothes? >> That's the first day of hustling. >> Did you get to see these papers? >> Yes, yes. I signed these two as well. >> Oh. >> I got to see them. >> There's one more here. >> So, these are initials AP, right? Those are your initials? >> Yes, sir. >> You did this? >> Yes, sir. >> For each one. I'm not going to go through all of them, but I think there's what, nine of them? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. So, nobody else did this but you? >> Yeah. >> How would this work? Cuz here Mr. Michael was trying to explain it to me, but I'm I'm I'm pretty slow and I don't understand things. >> Uh okay. So, >> I don't have a degree, so >> Um basically I would just grab like items and then do like a return and just like do it on the credit card. That's how it works. >> So, if I wanted to do it, I just go in there, pick whatever I want to return, >> Mhm. >> I put my credit card in, >> Mhm. >> and then just charge the store back my the money onto my credit card? But, how do I make the customer name like Lilly Love? >> Oh, as you when you're done with the return, it just asks you like information um the customers and you can just like put random names and addresses. >> Okay. So, each one of these customer names, they're not real customers? >> No. You made them up? >> Yes, sir. >> So, how much money is in the Sunset Credit Union and or the Cash App? >> Um >> How much money were you allowed to keep? >> Um It's like it depends on how like he'd be feeling. Like sometimes he'd be like Um cuz he he isn't like a scammer. So, like >> Well, I mean you are, too. >> I guess so. Um So, he Like I don't know. It just depends on like how much he wants on the card. I don't know. Like it's not like always like the same amount. >> Once he had thoroughly assessed her and her account, the officer offered his perspective, ensuring she understood the importance of picking her next words carefully. >> I'm going to be brutally honest with you. I think you're lying to me. >> Okay. >> I think you did this. I don't think there's Miles because when I write a search warrant for your phone, I don't think it's going to show any of that. And when I when it gets presented to the court and shows that you were lying, you're an adult. They're not going to have When the state attorney goes, "Yeah, she straight-up lied to the officers the entire time." They're they're going to be more harsh on you. If that makes sense. So, is there a Miles? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. All right. What does Miles look like? Because if this is actually happening, what you're saying, too, then that's not acceptable, either. But you don't know his last name. Your roommates have never seen him. What does he drive? >> He has a different car every time. >> It's his. Okay. >> I don't know. >> Okay. Did I miss anything? Can you stand up for me? >> Yeah. Yeah. Can I see your side? Can I see your side one more? >> This is the one we were going to when we flipped through them. >> Oh. >> So, this is good for today's date. >> This is my name, date of birth, and the address of where I would like to get mailed to. That's my business address, not my personal address at home, >> Okay. >> Yep. All right. Thanks. >> Also, would you like her um trespassed from from here? >> Sure. Ms. Pedro, stand up for me. Face the wall. Put your hands behind your back. Your purse, do you want it to go with you? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> And all this jewelry, too? You want it to go with you to the jail? You don't want to want to call somebody to get that for you? A lot of jewelry you got on. >> My mom. Brother. >> My Miles. >> Miles. >> Um Miles is with the baby. >> After everything played out, she was charged with felony grand theft.
