CHARGE. >> OVER. >> SERGEANT, >> OVER. >> I won't get in the car until my sergeant gets here. And >> we're not waiting for you, Sergeant. You're under arrest. Get in the car. >> Come on. >> Badge or not, entitlement makes fools out of people. Some officers drink, drive, and think they're untouchable until the spotlight hits and the showdown begins. But what happens when officers have to arrest their entitled colleagues for DUI? >> You don't have to copy. >> No, I do have to copy. >> You guys are going to end my >> You guys are going to end my career. >> Dude, my resume is sick. It's fat. I can imagine. And I put it out on the market and you know how many people bid? Nobody. Because they sell cop. >> Here are several moments when officers have had to arrest their entitled colleagues for DUI. Starting with James Corallejo, whose late night driving under the influence led to iriable loss. >> Is everybody responsive in the car? >> No. >> All right. >> You're going south. She's going north. >> She's going north. Inside lanes on both equal lengths traffic. >> I got to do what I got. I got to do what I got to do, man. Okay. You understand? >> Just keep praying, man. That's all you can do at this point. On November the 5th, 2023, just before 1:00 a.m., police officers in Decal County, Illinois, responded to a twocar crash near a fire station on South 7th Street. One woman didn't survive, and three others were left with minor injuries. The crash was an awful sight, but what pushed it into a whole different category was the identity of the second driver and the part that he played in turning a bad night into a disturbing one. Driver one. I'm a cop. Off to >> the crash site already screamed of recklessness, but somehow the second driver walked away almost untouched. That pushed the officers to pull him aside and ask how things went so wrong. And it didn't take long before his body language started saying a whole lot more than his words ever could. >> James, what happened? >> All right, so I'm coming southbound. She's coming northbound. Inside lanes both times. I don't know where we cross. >> Okay, you're going south. She's going north. >> She's going north. Inside lanes on both lanes traffic. >> Okay. >> The driver started calm and confident like he had rehearsed the whole thing. No surprise since he turned out to be 25year-old James Corlejo, an offduty officer with the South Holland Police Department who clearly thought his training could carry him through. But by the end of his first explanation, the smooth talk started cracking. His words got slurred. And that was just the beginning of the unraveling. >> Where you coming from? Brent's house. >> Okay. All right. How you feeling? >> I'm feeling okay. >> Okay. Anything in the car? Do you got a weapon there or anything? >> No. Off duty. I not carrying. >> Okay. service weapons and in my uh holster at home. >> Okay. All right. Stay here. Okay. Sorry. >> He can get around. >> What's up? Not sure who's at, but I got 105. >> Okay. Well, do the who are you going to do that part of it? Do the do the nor if you smell alcohol. your normal questioning questioner. He's not going to the hospital run through fields that we do the regular DUI investigation and because it's a accident we're going to request to go to the hospital. >> Yeah, we're going to have to go to the hospital because this person's not responsive or anything. >> All right, man. All I'm looking for is honesty. Okay. I know I know you're in a tough vicin right now like that. Okay. I'm looking for is honesty, compliance, and that's all I'm asking for. Okay. Okay. When's the last time you drank tonight? >> A little bit earlier. >> Okay. How long ago was that? >> Couple hours. About two. >> Two hours ago. Okay. What were you drinking? >> I had about a day. Okay. >> Have you ate it all today? >> Yes, I have sandwich. Cam sandwich. >> When was the last time you ate? >> About 2 and 1 half hours ago. They had food over there and they had uh food which was also as well uh a uh chicken sandwich as well as chicken dumplings. >> Okay. How much you sleep today? >> Roughly today about 6 hours. >> Okay. Okay. What where exactly were you were you calling from? >> Roughly around Greenwood Acres. >> Greenwood Acres. >> Rob Sycamro. >> Okay. Where you heading to? Where was your destination? >> Uh off of Best Avenue. >> Okay. It's right down there. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Listen, man. Listen, I I can tell you drinking. I'm just being honest with you. I know me and you go way back, but we're here right now. Okay. You got that? Okay. All right. Listen, how much how much influence do you feel like now? >> I'm fine. >> You're fine? >> Yes. >> Okay. You still feel like there's alcohol in your system? >> No. 100%. >> Okay. All right, James. We have to do a couple things here, right? Okay. All right. Can I Can I check you out? Go ahead. Okay. I still feeling good. >> James agreed to a field sobriety test, maybe believing he could still hold it together, like he could hide what was already obvious and practically spilling out of him for anyone with a pulse to notice. >> Okay. All right. Place your left foot on the line. Okay. Now, place your right foot on the line. Head of your left foot touching heel to toe. Place your arms to your sides. Do you understand? Almost. >> Okay. Maintain this position until I've completed the instructions. Do not start to walk until you tell you to do so. Do you understand? >> I see. >> James, go back here. Go ahead and begin. >> 1,000 pace. This is I instructed you. Okay. Okay. after. Running him through multiple tests, the officers finally brought out the breathalyzer. And the numbers that popped up didn't just answer their questions, they sealed his fate. >> James, listen, we still got some stuff to work through after this, but are you going to provide a breath sample right now? >> Yeah, without a doubt. >> Okay. order that his breathalyzer result came back at.154 almost double the legal limit of 0.08 8 08. That number told the whole story. >> So you you got a gun on you right now or anything? >> I got check. >> Eventually, James was hit with aggravated DUI and reckless homicide. By May 2025, he plead guilty to a class 2 felony DUI causing death, finally admitting he was responsible for the November the 5th crash, potentially bagging a sentence of 3 to 14 years. And under Illinois law, he'd have to serve at least 85% of whatever the judge hands him. James was bad news, but this officer took it to an Olympic level when she turned a DUI stop into a full-blown showdown, resisting every step until the officers finally reminded her that the badge doesn't come with immunity for DUI. If you don't step out of the vehicle, we will break your window. We'll remove you from the vehicle. It's your choice. I don't care who you're calling. Step out of the car. I will break the window. >> Serge over. >> DON'T OVER. >> On February the 27th, 2025, just an hour before midnight, a sheriff's deputy spotted a car swerving all over the road with not one but two blown tires and immediately tried to pull the driver over before things got any worse. But instead of stopping, she kept cruising like her car insurance covered everything, including her life. Until it finally clicked that the deputy wasn't playing around, and she had no choice but to stop 2543. Come to my 20. Can you roll down the window? Can you roll it down? >> What's up? >> You're going the wrong way on Second Street and then you also hit a curb and popped both your both your tires on this side. How much alcohol have you had tonight? Nothing. >> So why are you slurring? >> I'm not slurring. >> Go ahead and step out of the vehicle for me. Okay. >> Just because you said I slurred. There's no reason. >> So you're refusing to get out of the vehicle. 25 Metro 2011 refusing to get out of the vehicle. Slurring your words. Smell alcohol coming from inside the vehicle as well. >> Oh 2 in. Copy. >> 2011 just rolled up all the windows. Refusing to get out. Doors are locked. >> I need you to step out of the vehicle. on you if you find the car is not getting out. >> Stay firm. She will not get out of the vehicle. Will not get out. I need you to step out of the car. >> Step out of the vehicle. Step out of the vehicle. >> I've already explained that to you. Step out of the vehicle. Don't make this harder than it has to be. Step out of the vehicle. Step out of the vehicle. Step out of the vehicle. If you don't step out of the vehicle, we will break your window. We'll remove you from the vehicle. It's your choice. Investigation later showed that she wasn't just another drunk behind the wheel. She was an offduty New Mexico State Police officer. And in that moment, the late night traffic stop turned into a standoff between entitlement and duty. >> Step out of the vehicle 25 metro. So be advised driver's going to be a offduty NMSP officer. Step out of the vehicle. Step out of the vehicle. Step out of the car. Step out of the car. I'm going to break the window. I don't care who you're calling. Step out of the car. I will break the window. STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE NOW. STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE. Step out of the vehicle. In the end, she was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, an open container violation, three counts of resisting arrest, failure to maintain a traffic lane, and driving on the wrong side of the road. Next up is 47year-old Casey, a smoothtalking and overconfident offduty officer who learned the hard way that charm doesn't replace accountability during his DUI arrest. >> They stopped me cuz I thought I was going to >> I understand that, Casey. And they did not stop me for anything drink related. What you're going to do to me right now will literally cost me the rest of my life. Your supervisor. >> I understand that. >> Do what you got to do. >> I understand that. Do what you got to do. Okay. I understand that. >> On August the 5th, 2025 at around 10 p.m. in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Officers were dispatched after a woman called in worried about her exartner's behavior. When police finally tracked down the vehicle, they didn't just find any reckless driver. They found an offduty Santa Ana tribal police officer. a man the responding officers once saluted. But tonight's stop wasn't about rank, respect, or old memories. It was fueled by something messier than the heartbreak and far more dangerous than a bruised ego. >> What's going on, L2? >> Just call me L2. >> You doing all right? >> Doing good. No, I'm >> So I'm going to my kids home to get my kids come back. >> Okay. You mind sipping down and talking to us? Should give us a call, brother. We just want to make sure you're all right. >> So, >> I got you. I got you. I went I went through some stuff myself not too long ago. Okay. And I just want to ensure your safety. Make sure you're good, brother. >> Okay. She called out of out of the goodness of her heart and she's worried about you and she gets it. >> We're worried about you, too, brother. >> I'm struggling, bro. I got you. Struggling. >> Let's step out and have a conversation. Okay. I'm not going to get >> done. >> What's that? >> You're not done, bro. You're not. >> No. Come on. Just come back here. >> I'm hurting you. >> I got you. Let's You want to sit on the tailgate? >> Is it cool if I turn off your truck? >> No. >> Broken? >> Yeah. >> Is it broken? >> This is brand new. Watch this [ __ ] >> Let's go like this, right? No. >> So, side note, you go like this. Then you watch it. >> It's supposed to drop. It's not dropping. I >> paid a lot of money for that trunk to just touch and drop. >> That works. >> She call you guys, bro. >> Yeah, brother. She's She's worried about you, man. >> She's worried about you. >> Not in a good place, man. What's going on in the area for an intoxicated driver? >> I'm hurting, man. >> I'm just trying to jump over to get my kids back. That's why you don't even I don't know I'm dying. Please stop. [ __ ] man. That's why she called me. She was worried about that. We were actually just about to build your house. I know it's hard. I saw you guys just got to get you help. >> You know how it is. The first step was getting wanted to do it. I do. So, I just want to get my kids back. That's what I was going to do. I was going to drive over and like park in front of her house and just sit there so she understood like like I guess my number [ __ ] died in there. Probably not the worst time, you know, today to do it. >> Yeah. Don't you see? Okay. >> What happened earlier today? Nothing. No. No. I was just like screaming my house. We >> The first officer didn't see the badge. He saw a man. a broken spirit behind the wheel and try to help. But like every DUI story ever told, excuses don't erase impact. Plenty of regular people have problems, too. And some still choose to drive drunk. Their pain never justified the price of their mistake. And this wasn't any different. I'm dying, dude. [ __ ] I'm sorry. What are you What What's going on tonight, man? It's my head, dude. I'm dying. >> I'm sorry. >> Yep. >> This is such a bad place, man. I don't have an explanation. I don't have a reason. Just >> who are the kids at? >> Mom. >> Mom. >> Yeah, they're good. >> Who were you driving to? >> Get them. >> Not smart. You put me in a really bad position there. could end my career. >> Um, are you guys still talking to him about what's going on over there? >> No. >> No, they got it. I don't think so. I think he was having it. >> Yes. Oh, unless >> never thought I'd have to do this. >> There's nothing to do with this. >> I'm just I'm just dumbfounded. I was like my house is >> literally around the corner and I did not break a single law turned the corner. The only reason they contacted me >> is because Stephanie called him concerned because she thought it was me. >> Mhm. >> Did I break a single off? >> And that's a reason to contact you. >> Absolutely. But dude, but did I break a single off? I turned my left signal on. I was inside my lanes. I never broke any law whatsoever. I I know why you guys are contacting me contacting me based on the fact that Stephanie's worried that I was going to do something stupid >> and then also because of the allegations regarding the children. >> What was the allegations? >> That's why we were asking about what happened earlier. >> Nothing happened. Did you get into an argument with them? >> Jackson, my oldest son. He was a >> So what happened with that? Cuz I bet he's what, 15, 16? >> Yes. 15. He's an >> Okay, >> hold on. Come here. Jackson's a Jackson is the caveat to my existence. If I say rules are rules, he goes, "So here's the rule." He goes, "Here." So he is the anti-thesis to my thesis, right? So what I say the rules, he goes, "Oh, okay." And he goes like this and he goes, "I'm gonna go over here and I'm going to say and I'm going to do what I want." So this is crazy. This is a lot. The officer's firm stance didn't rattle him at all. A true textbook manipulated behavior. Calm like he had rehearsed it in a mirror. Suddenly, his kids became the shield he hoped would excuse his rules don't apply to me behavior. A strategy that has never worked in the history of bad decisions. Yet, people like him keep trying it like it's a brand new trick. >> Do you feel like hurting yourself at all? >> Yeah. >> So, this is this was the this is the issue that we have. >> Yeah. >> Is that >> Yes. You're leaving the house to go >> because I'm not stable >> to go get your children, >> which I'm not stable. >> You're unstable. >> You've been drinking >> and then you're going to grab those kids and then bring them back home. So I think >> because because my kids my kids are my own stability. >> I I get you. I I totally get you. My That's the way my kids are with me. >> Yeah. >> When they get to my house, do you know what you know what happens when they get in my house? I have a sense of um stability. >> I understand that. And when they're in my house, there's there's no negative thoughts. >> But now we have to look at it from the standpoint. You can >> I know what you're doing. >> What we have to absolutely have to look at. >> Absolutely right. >> Is that now you're going over there, >> you're drinking, and then going to grab them and come back over here. >> Absolutely right. >> Not a good situation. >> No. >> Casey stays home. Yep. And this situation is not there's there is no situation. >> Yeah. >> But now there's a situation. >> Yeah. >> And I made it I made the situation. I'm so sorry, guys. >> And where does where does his wife live at? >> Huh? >> Where does your ex live at? >> Um if you go >> Yeah. So if you go um Leon Grande pass over 528 go pass the kicks and the alls first left hand turn third take a second left hand turn it loops around >> and uh remember where we >> one tree short of Roi. >> Do you guys want to talk to more about the kid situation questions? Yeah. Just LT. At any point in time when everything was going on, did you ever get like physical or did the kid >> kidding me? >> No. >> No. No. No. >> And And I You can interview my kids and you can drive over to her house right now, dude. I'm not that dude, man. >> Why are we doing this? >> Why are we having this conversation? >> Cuz there's officers there. >> I was never physical with him. >> There's some allegations and I just want to get your side to what's going on. No, dude. No. I'm not that guy, man. The only thing I have is my kids. I'm not physical. I've never been physical. And they will tell you the same thing. What the >> Which one is the the oldest one? What's his name? Jackson. That's the one that was kind of giving me a little bit of argument. >> Yeah. >> To his defense though, he is ADHD full-blown. So when he's off his meds, so the meds I give him that I pay for with my insurance, they only give him from so he takes in beds in the morning. It takes about an hour to kick in. So let's say like 7:30ish. Okay. >> So from 7:30ish until 6th period full-blown, he's good to go. >> Yeah. >> 7 period, he starts to melt down a little bit. We already warned his teacher. She's on board. He melts down a little bit. He's a little kind of scatterbrained. >> Yeah. >> So, but through seventh period gets it. So, she tries to rein him in. >> So, just maybe a little bit of indulence with medications and stuff. >> How did uh how did Stephanie end up getting to the house tonight? How did that how did she >> I don't know. I actually don't know >> cuz you Tonight's your night with the killer. >> Yes. I actually took last night off and got the first full night of sleep I've ever gotten in since I worked for said Anna. I have been on four hours of sleep every night. >> You going gra? >> Yeah. Yeah. Well, and then they get they made me they called the [ __ ] boy. They gave me the [ __ ] boy shift. That's what they call it. It's called 6 to 4. So what it means is if somebody doesn't show up to 42, I have to take it >> last second. Like they call me, >> you're 42 >> and if they if they say nope, show up to your shift. Oh, side note, some someone didn't show up to 8 to 6. I get 2 hours of over time. >> They allowed him to talk knowing every smooth excuse he gave was just another knot in the rope that he'd end up hanging himself with. >> I'm sorry, guys. I'm so sorry you guys should take that off. We >> forgive you and we're all we do is care about you. You got nothing to worry about that. But you should bud. I know, but I mean, we're here, right? And I'm sorry. >> It's okay. >> Sorry. >> Rather it be us and some rookies that don't know. >> John, I'm sorry. >> It's okay. So, you you know why I'm out here? >> Cuz you're DDub. >> And if I get called out here, I have to do my job no matter who it is. Um, so I need to make sure that you're okay to drive. I don't want to drive. >> Okay. No, I'm just Well, you were driving. That's the problem. >> I >> That's the problem that we That's the problem that we're all in right now. Okay. Um, so I I need to make sure that you are okay to drive. >> No, I'm not going to drive. I I'll tell you right now, I'm not going to drive. So, >> I I I get that. >> I'm going to settle your tour. >> If you want to steal my soul and steal my career, you got it. It's in your hands. >> Are you Are you serious right now? >> Yes. >> Putting it on me? >> No. No. Putting on me? >> No. See, this is the issue that we have. Okay. >> When I get called out here, >> I get it, dude. >> Okay. >> You're going to you're you win. >> I have to make sure that when I got here that the officer that stopped you, >> but they stopped me because they they thought I was >> And that's a lawful reason to stop you. >> Absolutely. But I will tell you though before they stopped me, I didn't break a single law. >> Okay. >> Nothing. >> What did What did you have to drink tonight? >> Fireball. >> How How much? >> Um >> I had three shots of fireball about What time is it? >> 10:30. >> So I had three shots of fireball about 4 hours ago. Three. Three. >> Three hours ago. >> That's it. >> Yeah. >> And when you say like three shots, are you talking about like the miniatures? >> Yeah. >> And is that a lot for you? >> I weigh 250 lbs. >> No, but I'm saying, is is that a lot for you? Do do you is that is that a normal do do you do you drink that on a normal basis? >> Yeah. And that's all you've had? >> Okay. >> That's all I have. That's that that is the only I drink. >> Okay. Just just that drink. >> Fireball. >> No beer. Nothing like that. >> Oh, no. Fire. A beer makes my butt rot. Okay. >> So, I myself. >> Okay. >> So, I don't drink beer. >> Um, >> do you have any type of physical injuries? Yes or no? >> No. >> Traumatic traumatic brain injuries. >> Nothing other than my depression. >> Okay. Contacts in your eyes. >> No, John. >> Anything in your mouth? >> Zen. Is that it? Just throw it over there. And is that is that all you have in your mouth? >> Yes, sir. >> Let me see. Okay. How old are you now? 47. >> How old? >> 47. >> 47. >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah. >> John, look at me. >> They stopped me cuz I thought I was going to >> I understand that, Casey. >> And they did not stop me for anything drink related. They stopped me because they thought I was going to kill myself. >> No, they also stopped you for that, too. >> Yeah. No, I But you know what's really cool is I never broke a single law. I turned my turn signal on. I was within the lanes. I was also within the range of the speed limit. >> I get that. >> And what you're going to do to me right now will literally cost me the rest of my life. >> What I'm going to do? >> No, what I'm going to do. >> Okay. I have to >> The choices I made were But I will tell you though, I never broke a law. >> Okay. >> The only reason I got stopped was because you guys were worried it was going to Well, there's actually three reasons why they stopped here. >> His manipulative games had grown bolder. The fake hugs were gone. The masks dropped. He was ready to show his true colors, not knowing the second officer had been expecting this moment long before it arrived. >> And all those reasons were not outside my lanes of travel, outside the laws, outside the laws of >> 25 miles per hour. didn't break it. >> Used my turn signal within the lanes. They they recognized my vehicle because of what Stephanie gave them. >> Okay. >> And they stopped me because they were worried that I was killed. So, well, there's actually, like I said, there's three reasons why they stopped. >> Come on, man. Like, you know what I'm saying? >> I I get it. >> They >> But I'm I'm just clarifying it for you. There's three reason. I'm also I'm also going to clarify for you based on the fact that I've done this job for a really long time. >> Okay. >> None of those things are based on being ddubbed. >> Okay. >> They were >> Stephanie was concerned >> and I get her concerns and I warrant them. >> But I will tell you I never broke a single law. >> Okay. >> You guys stopped. >> That's a good thing. >> You guys stopped me without bases. >> No, no, no, no, >> no. You saw me with bases because Stephanie, sorry. Rewind. You guys stopped me with bases because Stephanie was worried that I was what? There's three things. She was worried that you're going to hurt yourself. >> Suicide. >> There's Yes. There's allegations of you going to hurt yourself. And there's also a lot of comments in the call that you've been drinking. So, there's actually three reasons why >> offic I will take my phone out right now. >> You could read my You could read my phone. No. If you're going to base it on the fact that you thought I was drinking based on my phone calls, I will take my phone out. You can read every message. >> I'm just telling you what the call says. >> I get it. >> That's the information. >> That's the information that we got. >> I know. But I like >> Listen, you run into another >> Listen, I have four kids. I have one job. I have one job. It's this job. If you take that job from me, my kids suffer because the only thing my kids have is the job I have because Stephanie's job sucks ass. So, the only job they have is, and I'm freezing, so I'm shaking a little bit. The only reason the kids have the health insurance that they have or the retirement plan they have and the retirement plan I have is based on the job I have, not her. She was worried that I was >> I'm not I'm sad as like I feel like a failure. I do. I do, but but I never broke a single law. I turned my turn signal on. I stayed within the lanes. >> So I wasn't behind you, Casey, because my dumb activated my kill switch. So my car died and I went >> You're stupid. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. My So I have to turn on the So when I start my police unit, I have to turn the key. >> I can't I can't start it. I have to turn the key and reach over and hit the the auto start button >> or else my dies. Every >> Officer Benvidas was behind you and he said you were having some troubles. >> Bull. >> No, dude. No. >> That's what he said. I I didn't see I >> my car. >> Bring it back up here. I I can argue that. >> So, just listen to what I have to say in reference to why I'm here. I know why you're here. >> When I get here, okay, >> and they want me to investigate you for DWI. Okay. You smell like alcohol. You've admitted Obviously, just listen. >> I told you you've admitted drinking. Okay. >> Yes. >> I have to run you through some tests to make sure that you're okay to drive. If you're okay to drive, I'm out of here. >> Okay. Do you understand that? >> That that's why I'm here. Can I say this though to both of you right now being blunt, >> I'd rather not drive and walk home. >> I I get that. >> Around the corner, so I will say it to both of you. >> It finally hit him. The officers weren't about to let anything slide. And now every move he made was a direct challenge to the badge he wore and the oath he once swore to uphold. >> It's It's not It's not the driving. It's not the driving. >> I used to be your supervisor. I understand that. >> Do what you got to do. I understand that. Do what you got to do. Okay. I understand that. But but do me a favor, okay? And understand what I'm telling you. It's not the driving that could happen. It's the driving that did happen. >> Absolutely. And the driving and I will say I will say it to you. The driving that did happen, >> I didn't show any signs of intention. >> Okay. Well, you drove a very short distance. >> Yeah. And and I was with them driving the vehicle. If I was the only to come out, listen to me. If I were to come out to anybody else on the planet. Yes. >> Okay. >> I would have to do my job. >> Absolutely. The only reason they stopped me was because Stephanie called them because they're concerned about my mental foot. So you trying to talk to me about ddub. She was concerned I'm going to >> I understand that. >> So the only reason you're here is because they were concerned I was going to myself. But then you're going to test me for DWI on top of it. Like that's kind of >> No, it's it's not. It's it's it's there's three reasons I told you. There's three different reasons here. >> Hold on. Watch this. It's It's actually really cool. >> There's There's three different reasons I told you that. >> [ __ ] my [ __ ] knee against me. So, if you hit it with your knee, it's supposed to go up. >> All right. >> So, hold on. Hold on. Hold on. We're not going to go towards this truck right here. >> No. Choose the line. >> No, we're going to do this line right here. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Um, okay. >> Believe me, I don't want to be doing this. Believe me. >> Yeah. I'm not >> If there's one person on the planet that doesn't want to be doing this, it's me, >> John. >> Okay. But unfortunately, with my job, I have to do this, >> John. Do what you got to do. >> Okay. Okay. Come over here. Over here. All right. Put your feet together like this. Heel the heel. Toe toe. Heads down to your sides. Weird. >> Hands down your sides. Okay. No physical injuries, no brain injuries, no contacts in your eyes, right? >> No. Just press. >> Okay. Can you see my finger? >> Yes, sir. >> Just follow my finger with just your eyes. >> Yes, sir. >> Keep your head really still for me. >> Stay there. Jesus, >> I'm not even drunk. >> Casey gave the sobriety test his best shot. But like every other shot he'd taken that night, it only piled onto his growing mess. Somehow he still seemed to think that there was a loophole left for him to squeeze through. What's the What's the most reliable test that we have? You're not even close to legal. Okay. And on the walking turn. >> Oh, dude. Walking turns hard for me because my back is >> You didn't tell me that. >> Well, no. But side note, you're true. Side note, I told you secondary step when you >> I also have to take into consideration that the job that you do that you have to be able to do this. >> No, I don't. >> Yes, you do. >> No, >> by law you have to do this. I I shoot a 90%. I passed every school test they've ever given me. I am like actually on the 90 percentile of every test they've ever given me. >> But you should be. >> Yeah, dude. I pass all the tests. >> Okay. >> That's why That's why I'm still a cop. I I I I don't I don't I don't fail the tests that you think I'm failing. Like I pass them. But but I pass them at a different level than most people. >> You You have to be able to do them. Yeah, >> cuz you have to go to demonstrate that. >> Yes. Okay. >> Well, well, they they don't make me do the walk and turn. So, if you line me up like this, because of my spine, >> I shift right or I shift left. >> Okay. >> And that's been You can actually look at rearrange. >> I understand what you're saying. Okay. But I'm telling you right now that if I were to come out to anybody's traffic stop >> Absolutely. >> and in this in the Now, in the condition that you're in right now, you should not be operating the vehicle. >> Okay. >> At all. >> Okay. >> Okay. That's where I'm at. >> Fair. The reason you guys stopped me was >> three reasons. What were the three reasons? >> I'm like, >> that's number one. What's number two? Investigation for the child abuse. >> Child abuse? What the >> Hold on. Listen. Listen. >> No. No. No. >> Allegations of the child abuse. I told you that. off, dude. No, they did not. I got an argument with my 15-year-old son. >> Listen, Casey, listen. Don't get all They're allegations. >> I got I got in an argument with my 15-year-old son. That's like >> they're allegations we were investigating. >> But so we have >> Are youing kidding me? And then the third reason is because you've been drinking. So, we have three reasons to stop you, >> dude. You guys stopped me because you thought I was going to I was within my lanes of travel. I turned on my blinker. I went the speed limit. Nothing outside of that gave you a reason to stop me. You guys stopped me because my ex-wife, which is number one, if an ex-wife calls you, that should be clue number one. It might be a little bit malicious. Hold on. Okay. >> I've been doing this job for a real long time. >> But we have to stop you. >> Abs. And that's why look at where my car is at. >> Okay. I understand that. >> Where you should I stop. >> I understand that. >> I never broke a law up until this point. >> I get >> you guys stopped me because you worried about my health. Correct. >> You pretty much stopped yourselves. You pulled over. >> Yeah, >> dude. I pulled over cuz the lights lit up, dude. >> The image he'd worked so hard to hide was exactly what he had become. And now the stupid games he had played had landed him a very unpleasant prize. >> I never broke a law up until this point. >> You guys stopped me because you're worried about my health. Correct. >> You pretty much stopped yourself. You pulled over. >> Yeah, dude. I pulled over cuz the lights lit up. Dude, I didn't just pull over. Those lights were on that car. They lit the So, I pulled over because I'm not stupid and I pulled over. >> So, this is crazy. >> You guys are pushing. >> That's So, listen to to me right now. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Listen to me right now. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. I got called out here to investigate you for DWI. You are DWI. Okay. There's no way around it. >> But your initial stop was based on >> Okay, that does not matter. We're not We're past that. >> Any other person? >> It doesn't matter. >> Welfare check on them. Okay, they were driving that we caught. >> Okay, that's fair. >> Put your hands to your back. >> No, you don't have to copy. >> No, I do have to copy. >> You guys are going to end my >> You guys are going to end my career. >> Don't make this. >> My kids are going to suffer. >> Don't make this stupid. >> Hold on. No, I'm not going to buy. Don't make this stupid. Hold on. >> Please stop. >> Take a breath. >> No. >> Put your hands to your back. You are under arrest. >> Put your hands to your back. >> Under arrest. >> You are under arrest. >> Don't make it worse. >> Can you guys at least check my hand? >> Do you have somebody that can come pick it up? >> Yeah. Stephanie, who hold on? >> Hold on. I'll give you It's over there. >> I got it. I got it. I got it. Um there's um >> I think that's it. I think I think it left everything in the car, >> dude. What's the point, dude? You guys just ruined my entire life. >> Casey, you can't put that on us. We didn't make you drive. >> And I didn't break a single law. >> You know the reason why we're out here. But I didn't break the head and then they go on. >> I took the coin like I took I took the coin like I should in court. You have a good argument, right? >> Yeah. Cool. You know what your job is doing is >> taking my away from me and my kids life. Not You guys don't get it. It's It's not >> You know what though? >> I don't care. And we care about your kids, too. >> No, you don't. >> Yes. >> Don't be. >> I I dare you, but I dare you to put this on me, too. >> No. No. >> I seriously dare you to put this on me. John Rosco, it's me, dude. I know it is. And that's why I'm just shocked what I'm hearing right now. >> No, dude. It's you. Stop. Stop. Stop. I will walk. >> Okay, then walk. >> Just stumbling a little bit. >> I'm not stumbling. Are you kidding me right now? I'm not stumbling. You don't get to play that game with me. You want to open the door? I got it. >> I'm not stumbling. [ __ ] dude. >> Does he have his license? >> Uh, yeah. Um, middle middle console >> in the wallet. >> It's um green. >> And if you >> like a wallet? >> Yeah. So, it's green. It's one of those ones. It's like >> Yeah. But it's going to be the second card you flick. >> Okay. >> So, first card is going to be red. That's my bank account. Flip the second card. It gets you the driver's license. >> Any firearms in the car? >> No. It's okay. Sit tight for a second. >> The officer finally got him prepped for transport, but once they reached the jail, he tried one last time. Either he was completely unrepentant or he just hadn't learned to read the room. >> When I was drunk, he >> Hold on. Just let me let me talk for a second. >> Yes, sir. >> Sorry. You know, you know as well as I do that there's officers that are right now on patrol that have gotten DWIs. I can tell you that personally, I know an officer that's a state police that has two DWIS on his record. This isn't the end of the world, man. >> It is. >> Listen, nobody's going to hire me. Okay, I you say that, but I'm telling you I you know officers that have gotten DWIS and have continued their career. You have you do know but in the meantime but in the meantime I can't pay my bills. >> But look at Paul. >> What's his name? Paul. The one that got arrested for DWI. Then he went down and he was working for Posski Farms. >> I can't go anywhere else. And then he went to he went to so in the meantime I can't pay my bills. >> Okay. >> I can't pay for my kids health insurance. In the meantime, I got nothing. I can't pay my bills. I'm already in debt. I'm done, dude. I'm done. >> And I understand that. But >> we I I get where you're coming from and it >> it's not the end of the It's a misdemeanor charge. >> Yeah. No, I'm done. Dude, you don't get it. You This This ended me. I'm already struggling. I'm barely head above water right now. Right now with a full-time job, 40 hours a week with a retirement with four kids. I'm barely barely head above water. I am now officially drowning. >> There's There's You know, you know there's programs out there. People make it work, man. >> Cool. Tell me tell me one agency is going to hire me while I'm under investigation for beat up. >> Okay. And and I can't right I can't speak for them. >> That's my point. >> And I get it. >> Okay, >> dude. My resume is sick. It's fat. >> I can imagine fat as I put it out on the market. And you know how many people bid? Nobody. Because they sell cop. They never read past. >> They didn't see the education. I have a 4-year degree in criminal justice. I spent 6 years as a lieutenant. I have 400 400 plus hours of master level um education in not even just police management, executive management. You know how people write that? Nobody. You want to know what? All they see is cop. >> And I and I get that. I do. >> Nobody's hiring me. I'm not going to be I can't even pay like I won't even be able to pay my house payment. My kids won't My kids will be taken away from me. The only thing I have going for Listen, you got >> The only thing I have going for is my kids and my Xbox just took them away from me. So, I don't have anything. >> This is This is >> I don't have anything. Okay. She took him with this. I can't I I will not be able to pay my house payment. I can't pay my car payment. >> Can't pay my insurance. >> You're going to you're going to I mean, just like John said, you're going to have to figure it out. And I know I understand that. I understand it's going to be difficult. >> You're not where I'm at. >> I understand that and I'm not. But again, there's been people that have been in your shoes and they've gone through it. But >> the thing >> right now I can't do any of those things. I'm done. I'm done. I'm done. >> You don't get it. I'm done. I have the fastest recipe ever and I fed it to other companies and they did not care. I'm done, dude. Like I might be better just disappearing. I don't I I don't know. I'm not going to answer some stupid questions, you know, respond to something dumb like that. God, do you not? >> Or should I say prison cell. In the end, he was charged with aggravated DWI for blowing twice the legal limit. Cory was a mess, but he still couldn't compete with Hugo, who managed to wreck his truck, other cars, and his own career in one foul swoop. Hey, man. I'm a supervisor this morning. That was probably his MSP officer. Everything's pointing to me that you're in parad. Okay, man. Cool. I'm sure. >> On May the 2nd, 2025, at around 3 p.m. in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, police were flooded with frantic 911 calls about multiple crashes. Witnesses reported a maroon truck fleeing the scene. When officers arrived, they found a wrecked truck and a man standing outside. And the questions that followed revealed an unbelievable truth. Being a police officer doesn't automatically make you responsible. What is this? >> Hey, how's it going? >> What's going on? >> No, dude. So, I come up to the intersection and he's he's trying to push the vehicle and he's revving the out of it. >> And so I pull behind him and then some people tell me he's been he ran from up the street. He ran and then came back. >> Okay. So, watch. >> Yeah. Can you watch him for a second? >> Yeah. Okay. >> Okay. >> Hi, sir. What's your name? >> Hugo. >> Hugo. >> Mhm. >> Won't be speaking with you on Tuesday. >> No. >> No. Or Sunday? I'm sorry. >> No. >> Where do you live? >> Uh, just down the road here on Mackenzie. >> Okay. What's your last name? Hugo. >> Diaz. >> Hugo. What? >> Diaz. >> Diaz. >> 193. It'll be Fugo Diaz. I think we were out with him on Sunday. One of our guys was. I don't think he's actually out there before. >> Oh, you don't think he's >> No, I I heard his name on Sunday. Oh, I think he claims he's one half the time, bro. >> You go. >> Did he say where he was? Where he worked? >> No, I didn't ask him, dude. >> Okay. >> Do you do you kind of want to handle this? cuz my my K9 doesn't want to handle it because he thinks it's the 34 and >> Yeah, we can we can handle it. I mean, the crash happened here with these guys, right? >> Well, dude, they they're saying that Santa Ana is now investigating a hit and run and this is this could be >> Yeah, our PSA is going out to that right now with the same same 49. So, >> um yeah, we can >> I can get you statements or whatever. We we could do everything else. We can hang out and help you with whatever, dude. >> Yeah. What happened again? You guys were >> I just drove up, dude. He was like this and he's he's trying to get the vehicle moving. >> Okay. >> And he's revving the [ __ ] out of it and he's trying to push it. >> Okay. >> So about that time I roll my window down cuz a a a bystander came and he goes he ran from that direction. Okay. >> And came running up this way. Um so then um so so I said, "Okay, thank you." So I called it out and then I made contact with him. Dude, he can't even stand, bro. He's >> Is he supposed >> It's weird, dude. Cuz when he sits there and he talks, he's fine. But when he gets up, he's the world's spinning on him. >> Okay. >> So cool. >> Stop on him or what? >> No. >> No, I just I just Yeah. >> No, he was like trying to take off. He's revving the [ __ ] out of the vehicle and spinning the tires. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Appreciate it. >> Okay. We're here for you, dude. >> After getting the full picture, the officer confronted the man at the center of the chaos. And it didn't take long to see just how lucky everyone around was that it was only a crash. >> Nico, what's going on? What happened with your vehicle? >> Crash. >> Crash >> earlier. >> From earlier. >> Any alcohol today? >> No. >> No. Okay. >> Why are you trying to leave? >> Trying to get home. I don't have insurance, bro. >> Is that why you're trying to leave? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> 190. I have one suspect uh in custody or not in custody. Um he's going to be seeing. Sit down. Sit down. I'm out with I have the mail. We'll be taking this crush. Are they just stopping for us? >> 190 270. You have the mill and that 27. >> Okay. Are you injured? Do you need any ambulance? Anything like that? Okay. To understand, we thought you were a police officer. Are you not a police officer or no? >> Yeah, >> you are. What agency? >> NMS. >> Police already. >> Hey, man. Supervisor this way. No, it's called a NMSP officer. >> We're going to get a tow truck for your truck. Okay. Um, >> no alcohol though. >> No. Okay. Go ahead. >> Any weapons on you? >> Like I said, >> my insurance is expired. >> Do we have 47 available or no? Not that go ahead. >> Did you get in two crashes or is it just one? >> One crash. Okay. Can you tell me how that one occurred? Were you leaving a parking lot or >> uh which one? >> The you said just one crash you were in? >> Uh the back one. >> Well, the one that happened today. >> Oh, just the front. >> Yeah. So, how did that happen? >> Uh I just hit another car. >> Okay. >> I got called in and basically it sounds like you had a couple crashes. Um where are you coming from today? >> Uh Circle K. >> Circle K. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Circle K. Where? >> Uh 550. >> 550. Okay. Then where were you headed to today, man? >> Home. >> Home. Okay. Um, what have you been doing all day today? >> Uh, took my mom to an appointment, came back. >> Okay. >> And went to the store. >> So, what what was the what was the purpose for the crashes, dude? >> Uh, so I rear ended somebody. I don't have insurance, bro. >> Okay. >> Um, >> it sounds like there was a more than just one crash, right? >> It was I rear ended somebody. >> So, you just crashed once? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You didn't crash in Sana. You didn't crash anywhere else. >> You didn't crash in Santa. >> Nothing like that. >> No, >> cuz I'm being told differently, bro. >> I didn't go to the casino at all. >> I didn't say anything about the casino. >> Well, you said Santa Ana >> like area. >> Santa Ana. Burnley area. >> No, I came this way and >> Okay, >> that's about it. >> Um, I have a couple questions for you. So, like I said, I'm with the DI unit. Okay. I'm just here to make sure that you were okay to drive when you were doing something. >> I got you. >> Um, >> have you had any alcohol to drink today? >> Not at all. Okay. If I were to give you a breath test for alcohol right now, would you blow zeros? >> Absolutely. Yeah. >> Okay. What about drug use? >> Nothing at all. >> Do you use any kind of recreational drugs? >> No. >> Okay. What about prescription medication? >> Uh, no. >> No. >> No. >> Okay. Um, so when these officers originally arrived on scene, they said that when you got out of the car, you were kind of stumbling out a little bit. Um, and then your speech is a little bit slurred. >> Okay. >> Um, a little slurred. Some of your words have been a little slurred when you've been talking to me just now. >> Okay. >> Um, >> no. I mean, if you bring a PBT, I'll I'll blow on it. >> So, you No drugs whatsoever. >> Drugs. >> So, if that's the case, you'd be you'd be fine to drive. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Would you be willing to participate in some standing tests? >> And some what? >> Some SFSTs? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You want to do them? >> Yeah. >> Okay, man. Let's go. Um, let's go up here where my sergeant is, is kind of a little flat right there. Okay. Maybe it was his overconfidence or just a desperate urge to dodge accountability. But this path that he'd chosen, well, the inevitable was about to slam him right into the heart of it in an embarrassing way. >> You want to do me a favor? Can you see the tip of my finger? >> Yeah. >> Going to follow the tip of my finger using your eyes and your eyes only. Do you understand? >> Yes. go. >> Do you understand it? >> Yes. >> Do you have any questions about that? >> Uh, no. >> Okay. This first step, this first step is one maybe again. >> Step again. >> Yeah. Get it again. You can fix me. I'll be honest with so you your tests were not good. You did not perform well. Okay. Everything's pointing to me right now that you're impaired. Okay. Again, like I said, alcohol isn't the only thing that can impair your ability to drive. Drugs can drugs can Well, I mean, drugs, right? Drugs can impair your ability. So everything's pointing to me right now. Your eyes are bouncing like crazy. So you're you're a cop, right? You know what I'm talking about. Your eyes are bouncing like crazy. Your walking turn was it was you did not perform well on that test at all, bro. Everything's pointing to me that you're impaired. Okay, man. Cool. Turn around. Real quick, bro. Do you have anything inside your mouth? >> Uh, no. Lift your tongue. >> For all that effort, he was still charged with reckless driving, fleeing the scene, and DWI. So far, we've seen entitled cops get reality checks, but none of them touched this Hall of Fame candidate. an off-duty officer who thought it was a great idea to stalk and roll up to his ex-girlfriend's new man's house at midnight, ready for drama in a police unit the department trusted him with. She's been apparently cheating on me for months. This guy's a firefighter. >> Is this his house or is this her house? >> This is his house. >> Putting an air tag in her bag without her knowledge, which is an element for stalking. On April the 17th, 2025, a New Mexico Police Department officer decided to turn his breakup into a police call by showing up at his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend's house. In his department issued patrol car, no less, and beating on the door like it was part of an investigation. When officers arrived, it didn't take long to realize that this wasn't police work at all. Just a stalking ex who thought that his badge came with relationship privileges. >> What's going on, man? What's good? I've been for over a year and she's been cheating on me with this dude right here and she was not coming to the door at all. And all I want to do is just talk to this dude. So, I'm honestly at I just wanted to talk but at this point I'm just going to go to admin about it. Um she's been apparently cheating on me for months and just lying about it. And I've been hearing rumors about her being at station six. This guy's a firefighter. Um, same car I've seen at the fire station. And all I wanted to do is talk, but now I'm going to have to report it up. So, all right. All right. Is this his house or is this her house? >> This is his house. >> Is this his house? >> I'm assuming. >> Okay. All right. Well, cuz the thing is, dude, they they called they called us and stuff like that. Well, they called >> I'm assuming they don't want us here. >> Yeah. Yeah. The serges and stuff like that. So, me and Kevin are here. >> Um cuz they were knocking on the door and stuff like that. And I'm like, "Okay." So, we came we came here to figure out what the hell's going on. >> Mhm. Yeah. So, I've been with her for over a year. Apparently, she's been with this dude for like like four months. Close to like four months that she's been with this guy. He's cheating on me, lying to me about it. So, I just figured all this stuff out now and that's why I'm here. I'm just trying to talk to him. >> And so, how did you figure it out? >> So, essentially, um about four or five months ago, right? Like how I said that four month gap. >> Mhm. Um, we were having some issues and um, I had her location uh, because I had an Apple Air Tag in her gym bag and this address popped up. Um, and I she'd been staying here for for like weeks on end, >> right? And um she had been staying here for weeks on end. And um I basically um she would just be telling me that she was at her grandma's or or her uh >> so so apparently she had been um she had been saying that she was at her grandma's and and stuff and I just didn't know. I just didn't I I didn't think anything of it. And um and I like I never told her anything about this address cuz she didn't want to know where. She just doesn't like me being nosy, I guess. Or I'm assuming. >> Um but she had been living with me, too. So she would be like, "Oh, well, I'm going to my grandma's." Um and this location will pop up with her apple wire tag. And um then she'd come back and she'd stay with me and she'd be staying with me for weeks. And so there'd be rumors like uh well um she's talking to to a firefighter and I'm like no, she's not. And um I'm just so lost in my head. I'm sorry. >> Okay. Did she know anything about the air tag? >> Yeah, she did. She found it later. >> But but did she know that you had put it in her bag? >> Yeah. before she found it. >> Oh, no. >> Okay. All right. But this that was months ago. Um she found it. We just had our little dispute over it and I never mentioned anything about this address. So, >> and then tonight you decided to come over here and check for yourself or >> Well, yeah, cuz I finally cuz I tied two together cuz the Hyundai Sonata. >> Mhm. And I I have um I was told like like two months ago that she was seen uh with another dude in this this Hyundai Sonata. I'd ask her, she denied it. And then she would go and cuz it was at the department like everyone talks, right? So she would go to up to them be like, "Hey, you didn't see me in that car? Like what what's the matter if you don't get in my business?" Stuff like that. >> The lack of guilt on his face said it all. This wasn't confidence. It was borrowed bravery. And whatever he was running on, the officers were about to trace it right back to its source. >> Probably ain't going to let you talk to him. >> Yeah, we bet. We probably ain't going to let you do that. >> Yeah, I know that. But I'm not even tripping over that. I'm just >> I just want the truth, you know? >> Right. Right. >> That's all I wanted. I just want the truth. >> Okay. All right. Sit tight for me real quick. Let me go find out some. Okay. >> Did you know anything about an air tag? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> He did. I ended up finding out. >> Yeah. I did ask him like, "Did she know you put a hair tag or did she find it?" >> Found it. >> And he he did. He admit that you found it. >> I didn't know who it was cuz we hadn't on vacation. And I was sitting there and I was like, "Why the heck does my phone keep saying like it's trying to connect to something?" And I didn't know what that was cuz I've never had an Air Tag. Well, then he started like pinging it like as if it was a headphone. And I was like, "What? We found it." Like he literally had I still have it. It's on my gym bag and it's slit and it was placed in there and I was like, "What the hell?" >> Do you feel like he's stalking you? >> It's one of I know it's a yes or no. I didn't up till this point. >> Okay. You didn't up until this point when he actually showed up here. >> Correct. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. All right, Troy. All right. I know I asked you questions before and stuff like that. So, but before I ask you any more questions, all right, we just going to do the Miranda, right? All right. Okay. So, when I first arrived, All right. I'm just going to going to do a quick synopsis. When I first arrived, I noticed you right here at the front door. Um, and then when we were called, we we did hear the knocking in the background. Okay. Was that knocking in the background? Was that you? Yeah. Okay. All right. So when I spoke with you, you stated that uh been in a romantic relationship. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And that you had discovered that she was she had been cheating on you. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Um at one point of your statement, you had told me that you had put an air tag in her gym bag. >> Yes. >> Is that correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. What around when when was that that you >> was like December. >> So you put the the you put the tag in her bag in December. Mhm. >> Um do you have like approximate date or you just know like >> um she went on vacation um to Florida >> and before that like a week before that um that's probably when I that's when I did it. >> Okay. >> About a week before that. >> Okay. Um do you know about when she possibly discovered it? >> Um the day of she leaving the uh that she was leaving to Florida. He um confirmed me about it when she got to Albuquerque. All right. Um so after that incident, was there any more like any other instances of you possibly like following her or showing up places where she's at without her knowledge? >> No. >> Um and so how did you discover how did you discover that this is one of that this is his vehicle? So, like I said before, I discovered this address through one of the days on the Air Tag. Okay. Um, she was like saying she was going to the gym. Went to the gym and she would um because she was living with me and then um she said she wasn't um that she was going to go stay at her grandma's and um this is apparently where her grandma was or is. Um so that's like I've known of this address. Like I've always known of this address. Um, so like I always just thought this was like her grandma's address. Um, like I was I never like like ran to see who the owner was of any vehicle or anything like that. Like I always just believed her and I thought it was her grandma's. Um, so when she said she would go to her grandma's, I knew she was here. Um, as far as like following her and stuff, I'd never done any of that. It was hard to believe that this guy was actually an officer of the law, especially with the kind of things he was casually admitting with his own mouth. Like he forgot that he wasn't in a therapy session. The responding officers didn't interrupt him. Instead, they allowed him to keep talking because he was doing a better job of sinking himself than they ever could. >> There is an instance where she um where there was like a uh cuz she drives a red Jeep. Um there was a red Jeep um driving down like one of the streets like while I was on patrol and I was like, "Huh?" I cuz at the time she said that she was um like in Albuquerque or something for a doctor's appointment and um uh I just saw that red jeep. I was like there there can't it can't be. So I ran it. It wasn't her. And then I told her about it. I was like, "Hey, by the way, like I thought that was you and I ran it and it wasn't. I was just being paranoid and she was like and she got on to me and got all mad and upset. So, um she's always like held that grudge against me thinking that I'm trying to like follow cars thinking it's her, but um that was like that only instance um as far as anything else. >> Okay. So, what provoked you to come over here tonight? So, I had learned from another officer about a day or two ago while I was on shift that was at station 6 uh with her red jeep and there was a male inside of her doorway and obviously still currently dating. And I was like the And um after learning that like I called her, I called her. I confronted her about it. Um she was just very very like super defensive um saying that she was going to like go to admin if like I tried to like cause anything and like to keep our relationship like a secret. And um I was just so overwhelmed with emotion. Like I didn't know like I didn't want to believe it. And then backtrack. Um about five months, five months ago, um Spites had told me that was seen in a white Hyundai Sonata um driving down the street on her day off. And I was like, "No, that can't be her." And then I confronted her about it and she was like, "No." You know, I was at a chiropractor, blah blah blah. And I was like, "Okay." And then she confronts Whites about it. Was like, "Oh, keep my name out of your mouth. Like, that's not me." And then fasttracked to here. She's seen at station 6. There's a white Hyundai Sonata that I saw at station 6 when I drove by it. And >> when did you drive by station six? This was like the day of him telling me that. >> That was 5 months ago. >> No. Uh the day um the officer told me that um she was seen at station 6. This was like 2 days ago that she was seen at station 6. >> Okay. So you drove by station six to see if that car was there. >> Yeah. There's a white um well I wasn't necessarily looking for that specific vehicle. I was just seeing if she was there. >> Okay. >> And then while I was driving by I noticed there was a white Honey Sonata. I was like, "That's just weird." I mean, but there's a lot, so I didn't know if it was it was that one for sure. And then um um it was today um we were talking uh cuz we've been having a lot of problems with our relationship cuz she's got a lot going on apparently is what she's been saying. And um we've just been going through a lot and just arguing, arguing, um trying to talk things through. And I like I I needed someone to talk to and um she said she was going to talk to me in the morning. I was like, "Okay, cool." Said, "I love you. Good night." And um I was just curious. I was like, "Is she I wonder if she's home." Um like she says she is. So I drove by here and I saw that white honey. I'm like, but I've always thought this was her grandma's house. So I just like I'm like, "Okay. And um it just I guess all the it all came together. >> Yeah. >> Do you think do you think it was wise knocking on the door though at 1:00 in the morning? >> Like I was just so overwhelmed with emotion that I just wanted to know the truth. >> Whatever baggage he walked in with that evening was only about to get heavier. The world has a way of reminding people that impulse isn't a shield. It's a shortcut to consequences. You realize how big of a thing this is, right? Okay. Um, I'm not going to beat around the bush with you, okay? I'm going be straight up with you, all right? With the incidents that's going on, dude. This is matching this is matching the the elements of stalking. Bro, >> I'm not stalking, but I've never stalked. Like, I've never had the intent. >> Wait, but check this out. putting an Air Tag in her bag without her knowledge. Okay, that is monitoring a person's movements, which is an element for stalking. Okay, showing up to this house. Okay, unannounced. Okay. Seeing that a vehicle that belonged to a guy that she possibly was talking to, seeing her unit here. Okay. And then you knocking on the door, ringing the doorbell for 20 minutes. Also is you showing up physically to a place where she is at that you were uninvited to. >> Well, I didn't know I was uninvited. >> Well, did she say come over here? >> No, she didn't say it. She didn't not say that I can't be here. that. But but did she say, "Hey, come over here at this time of night." >> No. No. >> Okay. All right. So now we have multiple instances. And then also you driving by station 6 to see if her vehicle is there. Okay. Another attempt to monitor. All right. So those are all falling to the elements of stalking. Okay. And and it happening more than one time. Okay. All right, that's where we're at. And then also showing up to these people's house, ringing the doorbell for 20 minutes, and like she wants to press charges against you, like the the homeowner. Okay. Um, spent a lot of time on the phone while I was in there, um, talking to lieutenant, um, talking to the DAS, everything else like that, man. Cuz we got to make sure we are doing our due diligence in all of it. Mhm. >> Okay. And so as of right now, okay, with the statements I've got from in there and the statements I've gotten from you, okay, you are going to be placed under arrest for stalking and criminal trespass. Okay. This is not an easy thing for me to do. This is something that I don't want to do. Okay. >> So, criminal trespass on what? >> Criminal trespass and stalking. Okay. >> Is any of it against a household member? >> No. Stalking and criminal trespass is not against a household member. >> Am I able to give this an arrest site? >> No, this is not an arrest. This is No, this is not an arrest site. Okay. So, what's going to happen is we're going to take you to the PD. We're going to go with Officer Gimenez. Now, my question is, do you live with anybody or you live alone? >> I live alone. >> You live alone. Okay. Uh, we'll figure that out here in a little bit on how cuz you are going to be placed on admin leave. Also, >> can I call my mom real quick? >> Yeah, >> we can let you do that. No, I just >> I'm not uh I thought essentially like she got the she called the cops and they got statements from her and and um I Yes, we're saying that they have elements of so they're less >> traffic. >> Well, I tried to knock on the door to confront the dude and I just wanted to do at least but she's pressing issue. So, I guess I'm going to go. >> When he finally hung up the phone, the officers didn't waste any time. They gave him exactly what he had been running toward all night. And yet somehow he still looked like a man waiting for a different ending. >> Talking like is she the one pressing the charges? >> She said she did want to press charges. Okay. >> All right. >> Yeah. This one's like classified as a like it's still kind of under the Family Violence Protection Act, but this is one of those ones that we need to ask them like >> it could fall like if I meet you on >> because I've never seen like stalking like on a household member. That's why I was asking. >> Yeah. No. No, that's the thing. It kind of falls under the Family Protection Act, but it's kind of not. >> You think I'm gonna lose my job? >> That's not for me to determine. >> But like like do you think >> I don't know. >> I mean, I didn't lay no hands. I didn't try to fight. >> So, right now, right now, you're only being charged. Okay. You're not being convicted. >> Or anything like that. Okay. But granted, yes, they are going to put you on that. I'm going to let you know right now, they're going to put you on admin leave. Lieutenant Fry is already at the PD waiting on us. They're going to put you on admin leave until they determine what they want to do. Okay. >> Those are my keys. >> All right. Okay. Uh >> I just have my wall on my phone. >> Okay. No, that's fine. So, you said your rifles You said your rifle's in here. >> Yeah. >> Um >> You said your rifle's in here, right? >> My rifle and my vest, >> okay, >> are in here. >> All right. And then the rest of your stuff is at your place. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Yeah. We'll get the phone number for your mom. That way she can meet them to pick up the rest of your stuff. Okay. Um, other than that, just go ahead and cuff them in the front and we'll do it like that. We pretty much we kicked everybody out of the PD so that way nobody going to be there. Um, we'll just sit you upstairs while I type up the paperwork and stuff like that. Okay. Take my watch off. >> Take your watch off. >> Yeah. In the end, he was charged with stalking and disorderly conduct. We've talked about reckless cops, but Justin turned recklessness into performance art, drunk driving a cruiser and totaling it in the same night like he was auditioning for Fast and the Furious Termination Edition. On the 27th of October 2018, officers responded to a call from their colleague who had crashed his own car. They quickly arrived at the scene to meet officer Justin Augustinine. Suspecting that something wasn't quite right with him, they brought him to the police station. It was here that everything would escalate completely. >> He needs Yeah, come here. Let's go out here in the garage. Uh got to put your weapons away. You come out here. We'll talk. You'll be all right. We're going to go down to a drug and alcohol test down at the hospital, you and I. And uh you don't need all your gear. So take your uh Are you all right, Auggie? >> Yeah. You seem >> your focus seems divided on me. What's going on? You just nervous? >> Okay. >> Are you under the influence of anything? >> No. Good. I hope not. I I do. >> Initially, Augustine claims to not be under the influence. However, that would quickly change when he began to realize the magnitude of the situation he was in. >> Where's your vest at? >> You don't have it on you? Okay. All right. What else do you got on you? Got pocket knife, huh? >> I'm done. What's going on though? Tell me what's going on, bud. >> I'm done. >> You're going to go in. >> You're refusing it. >> You don't want to do that. >> I'm done. >> Okay. So, what does that mean? >> All right. >> Are you under the influence of something on you? What's wrong with you right now? I don't understand that. >> I'm done. >> Okay. Are you going with me? >> No. >> So, you're What are you going to do? >> Oh. >> Can you call somebody come get you? >> I don't need to. Well, I I'm not going to let you drive. >> Yeah. >> Huh? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. What? >> What? >> I'm not going to let you drive. Can you call your wife? >> Seriously, Agie, can you call your wife? >> I can drive by. >> Okay. All right. Let's go out here. All right. Don't Don't play this game with me, bud. I'm trying to be your I'm trying to help you out here. >> He ain't do [ __ ] >> Well, I can't do stuff. I'm just doing what I got to do, Augie. It's my job. If you want to leave, go ahead and leave. All right, let's go. Let's go. Come on, Auggie. Don't do this, man. It ain't worth it. It ain't worth it. All right. I'm just doing my job. I'm just asking you to relax. Okay. Got it. >> Okay. And I understand that. I understand what you're saying. All right. I just don't want you to do it like this. All right. I'm not trying to be a prick. I'm not trying to be difficult. You got to understand it's it's my job, dude. All right? So, don't treat me like that. If you want to be done, I understand that. Moments after telling the officer he wants to go home, Augustine's mood did a total 180, making the situation even more tense. >> Augie, are you okay to drive, brother? >> Yeah. Seriously, I'm worried about >> Yeah. >> All right. Well, get going then. Do what you got to do. All right. >> Augie, you need to get >> You need to relax. >> No, I What' you say? Who is You just wrecked a cruiser. It's not the end of the world. I know it's not the end of the world. We can do this, Augie. If you just go down and take the test like we're asking you. If you do that, then we can at least get that cleared to where you can come back to work. >> Officer Byron tried his best to convince Augustine to act reasonably. However, it seems like he had already made up his mind. >> Seriously, Augie, I'm trying to help you, bud. >> Huh? What' you What' you say? What do you mean you up? Alcohol pills. What are you talking about? Huh? Okay. All right. All right. Augie. I I get that, bud. So, I can't let you drive home. All right. >> Yeah, I can't. >> No, you can't. >> Yeah, I can't. >> You said you'reed up. How you going to drive home? >> I'm noted up. Ied up. I'med up. >> What? I I'm Help me understand, Justin. What the >> you talking about? Just in the head. You >> huh? We don't need to do this, Augie. Come on. We don't Why are you doing this like Why are you doing me like that? >> Huh? What have I done to you for you to do that? Do me like that, man. Seriously. I am honest to God being serious with you. What have I done to you for you to treat me like that? >> Huh? >> What the >> I don't know. I didn't wreck the cruiser in there and then have to ask you to come take your Dang him. >> Realizing that the officer had him dead to rights, Augustine decided to admit being drunk. >> Or did he? >> I've been drunk. >> Huh? >> I'm drunk. >> You're drunk right now? >> No, I've been drunk. >> Been drunk when? Today? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, you don't think you are now? >> No. >> Okay. Well, I can't let you drive the car home until unless you do. >> What am I going to do? Is this You're going to do this? >> You're about to get yourself arrested, bud. Just I mean for what? >> For what do you what do you mean what am I going to do? I can't let you drive. So you try to get in that car. I got to stop you and then you're going to start fighting with me. What is that going to do? Huh? Seriously, Auggie? I'm Why are you doing this to me? I didn't do anything to you. Okay. I didn't do anything to you. Let's go back in here so we can figure this out. Augie, please. You know I got a call Jason, right? Are you going to coop? But just cooperate with me. [ __ ] with me. >> Augie, I you know. Huh? I know they are and I I understand that. Can you call your wife and have her come get you, bud? >> Officer Byron was finally able to convince Augustine to cooperate. During his short interrogation, it was clear to see how wasted Augustine really was. He was having a hard time sitting upright, even almost falling off the seat from time to time. In the end, he was charged with handling a weapon under the influence and operating a vehicle while under the influence. Next is a cop who apparently thought that protect and serve included self-service. He stole $900 from a traffic stop suspect like it was a bonus that he forgot to clock in for. >> It's all the blue hunds are right there behind that receipt. Thank you. All that's my money. He didn't have that. >> This is your money? >> Yes, I heard him crumble it up. respect you. Thank you. All that >> ain't my money. That's my money. >> I wasn't trying to expose you. >> That is not me, bud. >> Brother, I just seen you steal my money. It was >> No, sir. >> I'm sorry. >> Brother behind that receipt. Thank you. All that's my money. He didn't have that. >> This is your money? >> Yes. I heard him crumble it up. >> On March 14th, 2024, a man identified as Monree Moon was pulled over for a traffic violation and being processed by officers with the Charlotte Meckllinburgg police. When Moon noticed an officer identified as Henry Chapman, crumpling a couple of dollar notes and putting them in his pocket while confiscating Moon's belongings. Moon immediately spoke up and confronted Chapman in the presence of other police officers. And things became tense after that with a corrupt cop denying his actions despite being caught in the act. And then 190. >> Okay. So, we have it here. You're saying that? Okay. >> That's not the rubber band. >> Yeah. You see me putting it all in here. I appreciate you. What are we saying? 190. >> So I wasn't saying that you >> No, I I didn't I didn't say you said that. Right. >> But I said I wanted to have in front of you. So you can see how much is in there because when we turn this over to the sheriff's office, it's going to go to our phones. That's going to go to the next sheriff's office. So this is us verifying that we're putting all your money in here. >> Can you write my name on there? Also, uh, can y'all like like like I I don't know the protocol with that, but like can y'all check y'all like like like his person because like if anything is on him like it would be in No, I don't I don't look I'm I'm going to show you right here. Look look at this is all I want to explain to you guys. >> Most of the time when somebody know they didn't like when somebody knows for a fact they didn't do anything, they're not going to just you saying like let you search them. I don't have kids, you know what I'm saying? But I know how that goes because my mom did foster care. So, I'm like up to par with all of that. And on top of that, if I didn't do anything like how me and you've been talking the whole time, just like had me and you was talking the whole time, if I didn't do anything, I have nothing that I'm worried about. You know what I'm saying? >> Even though Officer Chapman insisted that he had done nothing wrong and volunteered to be searched, Moon was still convinced that the officer had stolen his money. And what happened next was a total shocker. Well, I would have I would have felt comfortable if your colleagues would have searched you at the exact time where I knew where the money was cuz I seen you kept going in between your legs and then every time everybody put all of the the attention on me, you kept moving. I don't know if it's in your door. I don't know where it's at, but just like look, I don't even care the money, but how you know how you know for look Come here. Come here. Come here. >> Come. Yeah. Come come here. I'm tell you, come here. Okay. Dude, do you see anything? >> Oh, yeah. Look, no cap. I'm not even going to touch it. It's blue hunds right here. It's all the blue hunds are right there behind that receipt. Thank you. All that's my money. He didn't have that. >> This is your money? >> Yes. I heard him crumble it up. Thank you. Thank you. All that ain't my money. That's my money. >> That's my money right there. >> Sir, you've been watching me the whole time. >> I seen you take it. I seen you crumble it up. Just count it. If I'm right, it's going to be around $1,000 if I'm right. And like I told you, I just went to Wendy's. I saw I seen you still shut if you don't mind. I just want to sit down for y'all. I don't want to do nothing. All I know is I know what I know. >> I just wanted you guys to trust me. You know what I'm saying? That's why I was acting a little out. But I'm perfectly fine. You feel what I'm saying? I'm sorry. I wasn't I wasn't trying to expose you. >> That is not me, bud. >> Brother, I just seen you steal my money. It was no reason to pop my rubber band, brother. It was no reason for you to pop my rubber band off my money. >> I didn't pop your rubber band off your money. >> I heard it, man. He just spoke about it. You heard him agree to it when we first I said I heard him do. You said, "Oh, I had to do something something something." It's okay. >> It's okay. I know. I just I just today Mr. Chapman went in my money. He separated my money. He was trying to steal it and I caught put it in between his legs and as his as his colleagues approached me, he worked it towards the door. He tried to make it seem like I was lying. I'm not going anywhere. I'm in full custody of of of these officers. I'm being detained. I'm not going anywhere. I don't want any problem. I'm not armed. I didn't do anything wrong. I was just pulled over for a traffic stop. He just tried to steal some of my money. >> Okay. We're hearing you, but there's no need to say all of that. >> No, I I was just looking at the camera. No, I just know how it goes. You know what I'm saying? I don't want to >> My camera's on. All right. So, let's take it down. >> Yes, ma'am. I apologize. >> We're good here. Yes, ma'am. >> So, what are we going to do about this problem? Cuz you just tried to steal someone. No sir, I did not put any allegations on him. I'm not trying to say anything. I'm not I'm not using my words like to try to hurt anybody. I just know what I know. >> After finding the alleged stolen money, Moon gave further testimony to prove that officer Chapman had indeed stolen his money. And the things he said were pretty incriminating for the officer. >> He told officer Casperon, whatever. >> Caperson. >> Yeah, Caperson that she could take me. And then uh he told Lack to um like well as soon as he pulled up first he called you outside to to get like confirmation of what was he supposed to do with the federal um warrant person. >> So uh you was already coming out. Make a long story short as um uh Lax start bringing out the envelope for the inventory. I mean uh for my stuff uh like my property I heard I heard a rubber band being tangled with. That's when I asked the question out loud. I said, "Uh, why would you take a rubber band off the money?" And I can't quite remember the answer he gave me, but he confirmed to me that he took the rubber band off the money. And like, it's my property. I'm a man, so I'mma watch my belongings the whole time. You feel what I'm saying? And like I had stated when Lack pulled me over, I was eating Wendy's. And that money was bill money. Like it's on y'all cameras that when my girlfriend pulled up, she asked me for the bill money. >> Mhm. So he told her like keep the money in my possession which was you know what I'm saying which was cool which was in you guys which was in his possession at this point. >> So as I was being transferred into the car I heard the rubber band pop. That's when I asked the question like oh like what you doing like like what were you doing with the money? And he was like basically like like he confirmed that he was doing something but he just didn't say what or I don't know if I missed it but I know we was five of us. >> You don't you don't recall what he said. >> I don't recall but like I'm saying it was five of us right there. So I know one of the cameras probably picked up on it or his should have. >> Okay. >> Which I know his probably was off because he was stealing my money. But he kept like trying to make it seem as if my eyes were playing tricks on me. And I heard the rubber band pop. And the whole while along like what you guys would see on your cameras, I was talking to you guys rather well really at you guys cuz I was watching him. And the whole alone I kept seeing him move his legs. And as soon as I said it and put it out there, he tried to put the money in between his legs and hand her over the stack. When I seen the size of the stack and officer Casperon as asked me how much money was it, I didn't want to tell you guys the exact number because I wasn't sure what he had took from the stack. All I was sure of was that the way that I placed the rubber band on the money wasn't the same. It wasn't. After getting a full statement from Moon, it was time to deal with Chapman. And this was when he began to regret his dishonest actions. But it was already too late. He had brought shame to law enforcement and was going to pay the full price for it. So, like this is what's going to happen. All right. We we have people coming in. Obviously, they they have to talk talk to you. All right. So, um I I'm going have to hold on to your weapon record. Okay. >> Yep. Go ahead. Take just take the uh whole holster off. It's one of them. >> Two. I got it. Um, Sergeant Burke and you know one's one of the detectives going to come and speak to to you. All right. So, just chill out, relax, do you need anything? >> No, I'm I'm I just want to apologize everyone I see, man. I one of these things, dude. And I'm I'm sorry. I hear, brother. Um, >> anything you drink or anything? >> No. >> Just want to say I'm sorry. Well, we're going to walk out of here and close the door. Okay. Until they get hurt, buddy. All right. Um, let me know if you need anything. All right. >> I'm good, S. I appreciate it. In the end, Chapman admitted to stealing the money.
