Keep going out there. Let's go. >> Stay out here. Am I under arrest? >> You're being detained. >> Well, yeah. Why do I have to have cuffs on? >> When some corrupt cops hide behind the badge to exploit the very people they swore to [music] protect, the last thing they expect is for their own partners to rise against them to defend [music] the innocent and expose the truth. >> I don't even know what's going on right now. >> I'm a cop. You know that. >> Where you a cop at? >> You know that. >> Is there a fit? Here are seven moments when respectable cops defended innocent citizens from [music] corrupt cops. Starting with when New Mexico cops arrested their colleague for assaulting his wife and [music] stepdaughters. Back the up. Get away from me. When she starts coming at me, waving her hand in my face and I'm like, "No, get the off." And I push my wife away. And >> I hate to be the one that does this. You know what I mean? What we're going to do, man. We're going to be pressing charges. [music] All right. So, it's better than a household member. >> Not me. >> Yeah. So that's the best thing I can do for you, Mike. I mean, we work together. >> In September 2020, New Mexico Police Department received a call from a woman reporting that her husband, Michael Weaver, who was also an officer with NMPD, was involved in a domestic violence situation. At first, they convinced themselves to believe that she was either mistaken or had exaggerated [music] the situation because the reported suspect knew the law and wouldn't be stupid enough to get himself into that kind of situation. Naturally, when they arrived at his residence, they started [music] to question him, hoping to get to the bottom of what had really happened. >> Hey, brother. >> Pretty good, bro. Good. You want to talk us out over in the back? >> You want to talk in the back? >> Sure. >> Dog's not a bite, right? Hey. Hey. Hey. Where's your father at? Hey, color. >> A bite, right? >> Hey, I Man, I can't promise that. Get back. Get back. Get back. All right. What's going on, brother? Pixie. Pixie. Dog. My wife Anna and I were sitting in the chair. >> This all this all just happened, man. I I don't even have my breath yet. >> That's okay. So, whenever you feel like you need to calm down, maybe talk to me. >> So, which is her middle daughter, she ask [music] she calls her out to >> take the little dog for a walk. Mhm. >> And then she starts off to her that I don't have time for this. I got F in my class and I'm not doing good. And she's like, but she doesn't need to talk back to me. And I said, no, I agree. Cuz she's been goofing off all afternoon. >> Right. >> So I get up to talk to her. I said, hey, you knock it off. I said, you don't need to be disrespecting anybody, talking [ __ ] to anybody. And she just kind of kept on. And finally, I said, you know what? give me the freaking dog. She had on the leash at that time at the front door. And I told her, just go to your room for the rest of the night. You want to [ __ ] >> that you're not doing good in your grades, [music] but yet you can goof around all night or all afternoon. I'm giving the gist of it, not detail. So, finally she goes into her room. Well, then her mom gets upset with me defending Jennifer and she starts pulling and chugging on my shirt. I've already taken the dog out, peed. I'm coming back in. >> Mhm. [music] >> And I'm telling Jennifer, you know, you need to knock it off. You haven't done anything all day. >> Mhm. >> I unloaded the dishwasher freaking twice. I've loaded it twice. You guys haven't [music] done [ __ ] >> So, stop acting like you're busy. You're too busy. Can't walk the dog for five minutes, >> right? Well, then her mom comes in there, starts pulling on my shirt, getting in between us, and telling us, you know, you need to stop. You're talking to me now. I said, no, she's being disrespectful. >> And how old is she? >> She's 16. >> Okay. >> And then her older daughter is like 21. She had been over here. She comes over here by the chair addressing me. And of course, my wife starts pushing me back and said, "That's enough." I said, "No, you need to stop." She She needs to be stop being pampered. >> And she starts pushing me away. I'm like, "You need to stop." She starts pushing me again. And then her older daughter's behind me telling me, "Don't put your hands on my mom. Don't do this. Don't do that." And and then and you know, my wife's pushing me again. And I'm telling you, just back the [ __ ] up. get away from me. Well, she starts coming at me, waving her hand in my face and I'm like, "No, get the [ __ ] off." And I push my wife away and cuz she's all been pushing on me and then [ __ ] Samantha starts getting in my face and I [ __ ] push her away and then of course her mom [music] just starts attacking me, grabbing me and hitting me and then Samantha starts grabbing me and hitting me and I freaking I shove her down on the floor over here and then I shove the other one down and then Jennifer comes grabs a plastic bottle, smacks me upside the [ __ ] head with it. I [ __ ] throw her to the ground and I'm telling him, "Bitch, [ __ ] y'all need to knock it the [ __ ] off." >> So they're all coming they're all coming on you. >> Yeah. So then the older boy, which is like 14, 15, can't remember. He gets in between us and he's telling them, "Knock it off. Stop. Stop." And they get up and they're coming at me again. >> As he continued to respond to their interrogations, it was obvious that he was convinced that there was no chance they wouldn't take his word for it. But the odds were stacked against him from the start and he didn't know it. >> This is all three of them, right? >> Yeah. They ripped. >> So when you when So when you were saying right here, you said >> they ripped my shirt off. >> Yeah. >> They knocked my glasses off, >> right? >> They [ __ ] My arm is sore. They knocked the [ __ ] out of me. >> Do you want me Do you want me to get a 55 out here? >> No. No. No. No. No. I I Man, they're telling me they're going to get their [ __ ] and leave. >> Okay. I I'm >> All three of them. All three of the girls. Right. >> Man, I'm I'm down with that. Okay. >> I don't I don't need this. I don't need this. >> Yeah. >> This is not good for me. Not good for my job. Not good for anything, man. >> Right. >> Okay. So, I got the gist of the story, Mike. So, if you don't mind, do you have your ID on you by chance? >> Yeah. >> You You know protocol. Okay. So, I'm going to do an investigation to see exactly what's going on. I got your statements. And there are any other weapons inside the house besides these two rifle bags right here? >> Man, yeah, I got weapons all I got guns upstairs. The only thing downstairs I have right now are those. Those two are there weapons inside of them? >> These are my hunting rifles. >> Okay. And you [music] don't have your pistol or anything on you by chance? >> It's all >> Do you mind if I just pass you down real quick? All right. Cool. Turn on. And just to be on the safe side, Mike, I am going to call this 55 just cuz I can see you have a busted toenail or it looks like you busted [music] your um right there at the Seers knife. >> It's probably a >> So it looks like you did What happened there by chance? You know your toenail? Looks like you thumbnails hurt. I don't know. >> So, this is all this is all just trying to >> a big old scuffle, man. I'm just trying to keep them from freaking hitting me and [ __ ] smack me upside the face. >> Okay. >> I'm like, I [music] don't need this [ __ ] man. >> Right. Trying to just keep the peace with everything. Right. All right, brother. So, just so I can just interview everybody else, I'm going to have you sit back over here in the back and I'll just have Dan sit with you. Okay. >> I'm going to grab a bottle of water, man. >> All right. After interrogating him, they went on to question his wife and stepchildren. And that was when they started to realize that he hadn't been totally [music] honest with them. At this point, he was going to learn that the badge didn't exempt him from facing the consequences of his actions as a law enforcement officer. >> All right, Mike, we need to take all the guns. Um, and Sergeant, I'll just have you help me out. Where where is besides these two rifle cases right here? Where is everything else at? So, there's a gum box downstairs, the dim one upstairs. >> You have a little You have a little You have a little safe, right? >> Yeah. I don't think there's anything in there, but we can open it up. >> Okay. And then do you have the passwords and stuff like that? >> Is there anything like a digital password? >> A key. You know the keys, right? >> There's one key on the window. So, right there. >> I saw that. >> The other keys are in my closet. >> Okay. Where in the closet? Well, if you open the closet door, look to the right. There's a cord running along the closet. It's shoved in right there. >> Okay. Thank you, brother. We'll take these right here, and I'll explain to you everything that's happening. >> Those are loaded, too. >> Yeah, we'll unload them. >> After removing every firearm they could find in the residence, it was time to deal the final blow. >> All right, man. So, I hate to be the one that does this, you know what I mean? and you know, especially everything that you've you've gone through and what you've been doing. Let me put a picture of your your foot. Is it okay you still want me to call the ambulance out here? >> Yeah, I don't mean to. >> All right. Did you just like with the miss of >> I don't know in the midst of whatever this happened. I'm not sure exactly how it happened. >> It wasn't a bottle. It was a >> It was one of those plastic bottles right there. Was it See that big jug I got set? I had two of those. >> These right here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> She picked it up, smacked me across the face with it. That's when I threw it to the ground. >> What have you been having to drink tonight? >> I probably had two whiskey and Cokes. >> Okay. Is it Jack Daniels or Knob Creek or >> is it what? >> Jack Daniels Knob Creek. What type of whiskey? >> Okay. All right, brother. So based on everything, I mean, I know it's been a little bit of time. You sitting over here, call the DA's office. I've called judge. So what we're going to do, man, we're going to be pressing charges. All right. So it's better on a household member >> on me. >> Yeah. >> Although they anticipated that he wouldn't take the conclusion of their investigation. Well, the way he chose to respond [music] was something they could never have predicted. >> Okay. >> And then two, >> so so when we first had that conversation, that's what I told you. I was still upset. >> Yeah. Yeah. And I was still trying to catch my breath and I was giving you the gist of it and those three girls freaking attacked me. And and if you don't mind, I'm going to walk you through it right now. >> Just if you want to just give it to me one more time, then I appreciate it. >> Okay. Because I when you first came in to talk to me >> Yeah. You're you're hyperventilating. You're trying to catch your breath. I got you. >> I was. >> So tell me exactly what happened. The two of us were sitting in that chair right there and the dog needed to go outside. [music] So, she was yelling for Jennifer, the 16-year-old to uh or 17 now, I guess she is to come out. So, she had to yell at her a couple of times. She came out. She asked her, "Take the dog outside and she started complaining, I don't have time for this. I already got an F in one class and I got this." and and she put the dog on loose and started to go outside. She's like, "I don't I do not need her back talking to me like that." And she comes back inside and they start arguing again. And I told her, I said, "You know what, Jennifer?" I said, "You shouldn't have gone shopping this afternoon if you're going to complain about walking the dog for 2 minutes." I said, "You need to knock it off." And she mumbled something. I didn't hear what she said. She walked outside. Um, she was being a butt. So, the wife turns and looks at me. So, I start to get up out of the chair. Well, she starts to pull me down because she knows I'm going to go confront her. And I was able to push myself off the chair, go out there, [clears throat] had that conversation with her. I'm telling her, "You don't need to act like this." I said, "It's not a big deal for you to walk the dog for a couple of minutes and stop acting like a damn brat." And I said, "Give me the leash. I'll freaking walk the dog. you can go sit in your room the rest of the night. So, I take the dog out there for a minute, two minutes, whatever, and we come back inside. I walk over there and I knock on her door and she opens the door and I start to lay into her, you know. Um, I'm telling her she's being disrespectful. [music] You know, I go into You haven't done anything around the house all damn day. I've unloaded the dishwasher twice, loaded it, picking things up, doing stuff. and she's just sitting there doing nothing. Anyways, I'm laying into her. So, Anna comes over there and gets in between us and says, "That's enough." I was like, "No, this is [ __ ] I'm tired of this shit." So, she starts to push me away. And I was like, "Don't be pushing me." I was like, "She needs to knock her [ __ ] off." I said, "You were just complaining about how she's being disrespectful and then you're trying to tell me that's enough." I was like, "This is bullshit." And she pushes me again. And I mean, I don't step up to her or anything. She pushes me away. I'm like, "You need to [ __ ] knock it off and she pushes me again." Like, "God damn it." So, by then Mikey and Samantha are over here. I guess Samantha had come up and walked over here by the end of the chair in the living room. And I turned around and I started to walk away. And Samantha started to mouth off to me and she was pointing her finger at me and she was saying something. She doesn't even live here, but we've been taking care of her dog and doing everything for her. And she's >> where where does she live? Does she live? >> She lives in Albuquerque, >> but she's been staying here practically all summer on and off, >> been taking care of her dog. So, she starts in with me and I'm told and I'm walking that way and I'm telling her, "You just need to shut your mouth. You just need to knock it off." Well, Anna grabs the back of my shirt and starts pulling me. So, I turned around. I told her I said, "Look, just freaking stop grabbing me. I don't know how you end that." Said, "Just freaking I" I said, "Knock your [ __ ] off. Stay away from me, man." And I turned around and started to walk again. She pulls my shirt again and she still got hold of it. And I'm like, "Let the [ __ ] go of me, man." And she wouldn't let go. And I pushed her off of me. And then that's when Samantha started coming at me and I pushed her away. Well, then here comes Anna. She gets me from behind. [music] And then Samantha's coming at me in the front. And dude, I'm backing up. I'm backing up all the way through the kitchen, all the way over here. And both of those girls are still coming at me. I say girls, Anna and Samantha. >> The suspect desperately tried to convince them otherwise. As a police officer, his colleagues were hoping against hope that he would come to realize that he was fighting a lost cause. >> And they're still coming at me. grabbing my shirt and everything and I'm trying to push them away, telling them knock their [ __ ] off, man. And uh so she keeps she keeps pulling on my shirt. You can see they rip my shirt and they're doing all that and she's still coming at me. I pushed her away. Anna fell to the ground. Samantha started coming at me even more. You can't do that to my mom. Don't do that to my mom. She's freaking swinging at me. And I freaking I push her down to the ground. That's when Jennifer grabbed that bottle and just bam. I was like, "You little shit." I grabbed her and threw her to the ground and all three of them are right there. And my my back is against the freaking stove. And Mikey runs around. He comes in. He gets in between us and he's telling him, "Stop. Stop. No more." I'm like, "Y'all knock your off, man." And Samantha gets up and she comes over here. She starts calling on the phone. I said, "I sure the hope you're calling 911." I said, "Call 911." That's what Jennifer gets up. Samantha and all three of them are over there. I'm standing over here. They're doing whatever. I don't even remember where Anna went a couple of minutes later. But Jennifer and Samantha are out there on the front. And I go out there and I tell Samantha, "You just need to freaking leave. Leave. You don't even live here. Get the [ __ ] out." >> And at that point, >> you guys were here like 30 seconds later, man. >> Yeah. So when I talked to the DA's office, I talked to I I didn't talk just talk to Cynthia or Marcus. I talked to both of them. Let them know exactly what was going on. So what we're doing was not, you know, pressing charges. We're not going to be arresting you based on, you know, battery on a house member or two counts or whatever. What we're doing is we're going to send you to the DA's office just for review. Okay? So we're going to be summoned for criminal complaint, probable cause, and and do you receive mail here at this residence? Okay. So that's the best thing I can do for you, Mike. I mean, we work together. You know they I I get you, bro. >> I get you. >> No, but look the the whole >> I got five people. >> I know. And >> talking to you talking turning that goddamn story around on me and and it that's >> See, the only thing Mike I know the only thing is is when you came on scene, all of them were separated. So at that point, that's what I that's why I started having all the other officers start talking, started separating everybody. I started asking everybody what was going on. All their stories are consistent what was going on. And the same thing with you. It's just hard for me to figure out what's going on. It's hard for me to place and say that you're the primary aggressor or she's the primary aggressor. Any of them. >> Well, there's >> Okay. I I I get I know. I understand. >> I'm hoping their story wasn't much different than mine, >> right? Oh, no. I'm telling you, that's [music] why it's so difficult for me to I told the judge. I said, "This is what I got." You know what I mean? And we've all concurred that we're not going to take you to jail, put these charges and everything on you. Okay. What we're going to do is that we're going to go and send it through the DA's office like using that how we tell people like a book. These are the charges of what it could be and here's all their stories. Okay. Like I said, that's the best thing I can do, man. Um I've already been having my supervisor telling me otherwise and I know the department's already been going through a lot of crap. So, this is the best route that I can go. Okay. So, with the seizing of the weapons, you know, because of a domestic situation, I just have to seize them. They're not being evidence, nothing like that. They're just being held for safekeeping. You can come and get them at a later time. Okay. All of them. I'm going to >> What's a later time? Um, just give it about 48 to 72 hours. Then if you want, just go ahead and contact Sergeant Casten and he'll go and tell you what day or what time you can get him back. Okay. >> I I just aggravates me being in law enforcement. >> And of course, I know you don't know cuz you weren't standing here in this living room when all that [ __ ] went down. >> I [ __ ] didn't do anything wrong. And it just >> And and this is your time, Mike. So when you do sit in front of a judge, you tell them exactly what happened. And like I said, man, I'm just getting based on all the statements, everything you've given me. I got to get [music] a totality of everything. I just can't leave here and say, "All right, you guys just all stay in the house together." I can't do that. >> No. >> And for me to say that I was going to actually remove you from the residence and have you go stay somewhere. She said, "We're taking [music] the kids. I don't want to do that to him. He can stay here with with his house. He can do that at least." And then I just I also advise her that you didn't want her back. So, with that being said, I might have to get her in contact with victim advocate. if she wants to come back [music] to her residence, she needs to get in contact with us. You can't get in contact with RP for a civil standby or court order to grab all her stuff. Okay. I I just can't have you guys fighting, especially when we leave. And you know, you know how it is. My my question is this. Yeah. My my question is this. What's going to happen once we leave with you two? Are you guys still trying to mend things together? No. >> Okay, you guys are completely done. >> By now, it was clear they were doing everything possible to handle the situation carefully because he was one of theirs. He wasn't the type to accept defeat and he was about to prove it. >> Dude, in my eyes, we're done. >> Okay. You don't want her back here at the residence. >> Okay. Cuz I I I let I also advise her that saying she's not allowed to be back here at the residence. If she needs to come back here, does she have legal obligations to be here? Of course she does because she lives here. You know, you both got this house together. But my thing is this is that I'm not going to allow her to come back because of the safety. I don't want you blowing up. I don't want her blowing up. I don't want there to be any type of miscommunication. She's saying now you're threatening her with this and that and we're only going off of basic he said she said type stuff. So I told her if she wants to come back to residence she needs to get in contact with us. We'll do a civil standby or she can go to courts do on a later day and do a court order to come over here. [music] Okay. Like I said I want it to be as fair as I can. You like I said man I >> I absolutely know where you're coming from. I just >> but I just I remember >> I'm sitting here in this seat >> and I just they're so full of [ __ ] man. >> I know. [music] I'm I'm Yeah. No, I'm done. I can't have this. I can't have this in my life. I can't have this in my career. >> I can't, you know, if if you're going to have a teenage kid that's going to back talk and mouth off and do all that [ __ ] and then you can't address that kid and explain to them how wrong they did and she's going to jump in between us. And I even she pushed me pushed me. I freaking turned around, started to walk away, and then she's grabbing my shirt. She ripped the [ __ ] out of my shirt. I just Where's her shirt at? They're freaking right there by the chair. So, I guess Yeah. No, that one on the floor right there. So, I guess at some point I had time to go upstairs and get a freaking shirt. Yeah, that bottle right there. >> Cuz she was standing right there. She reached over, grabbed it, and smacked me upside the face. >> I'm the whole damn shoulder off of that thing, man. And I'm I'm backed in all the way over here in this corner trying to keep them the [ __ ] away from me. Like all three of them are [ __ ] attacking me. What I mean, has have you guys done anything like this before, though? Has this like ever has it has it gone from physical altercations to any type of verbal? I mean, I did talk to the youngest one. They said that you two don't get along. I mean, I get that. I mean, if it's you're not your biological daughter, there's going to be some type of >> Me and Samantha. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Oh, no. any of you guys like there's >> me and the oldest girl [music] never got along. >> Okay. >> She's used to doing whatever she wants to do. She doesn't like to help out. Um we have that conversation all the time. Matter of fact, she was hitting that she wanted to move in. And Anna told me she told her no >> to to your wife, right? >> How long you guys been married? >> Uh about four years. >> About [music] four years now. With you guys moving in and everything together, how how was it? Maybe the only reason why I've asked these questions is I want to see if there's any type of pre-domemestic as in like, [music] hey, do we fight a lot? Do you guys bicker? Argument? You know how it is. We we we're all married, right? We're all married here. I mean, we we fight, we bicker, we argue. >> We've had arguments. >> I [music] mean, has it ever got to this point before? >> How three these freaking three girls like this? >> But it's been to a point where you guys did get into like a I mean, have you guys thought about separating before? Has there been has this been like [music] your the straw that broke the camel's back type of incident? I mean, the only reason [music] I asked, man, is because I can see I can see it happening. You know what I mean? I can see the situation happening. I can see both sides. I can see the sides where, you know, you got you got really heated, things got out of control, and you're the primary aggressor. Then I then then I know, but then I hear your story, and I can see that, >> you know what I mean? That's the reason I can't >> I'm trying to I get to I'm trying to walk away from her. I got I was backed in so hard. Matter of fact, >> we [music] were sitting here probably You guys already been here 15 20 minutes and I could start to smell gas. Yeah. >> And I backed up so hard that I hit that knob apparently and the gas was on and Green had to go over there and shut it off. >> Okay. >> I just >> like, you know, then they're hitting me with [ __ ] objects and [ __ ] I was just trying to tell them to knock their [ __ ] off. >> Has there ever been a point where [music] you've gone to an argument with them where you just walked off and said that you're done with it? Say again. >> Them who? >> The girls. Everybody you're fighting with today. [music] As in the daughter, the 25-year-old, the 16-year-old. >> I don't I've had a couple of arguments with Jennifer. Um, usually it's nothing too big. Um, >> yeah. I mean, Anna and I have had arguments. >> Um, >> at this moment, he seemed to have realized that his playing the victim card wasn't working, so he decided to play a different one. Way back in the day, same thing. Samantha, she charged her mom one day and I grabbed her and I stopped her. I said, "No, knock your [ __ ] off. You're not gonna be fighting with your mom." >> That's that was the oldest one, right? >> Not in front of me. You know, >> I said, "Knock your [ __ ] off." Not all I did was stop her. I didn't do anything to her, but she just >> She just thinks she's in control of everything when she comes over here. And I'm like, "No, this is our house." >> Mhm. >> She doesn't need to do all this. [music] I that damn dog which my neighbors complain about and I tried to tell my wife I said man I said with my job I can't have freaking people complaining about dogs and stuff like that you can't have anything >> I said it doesn't look good I told my neighbors that dog would be leaving in July which is what she told us and it [ __ ] didn't happen they left for like 3 days and that damn dog came back you know and I so I go out there and try to stop it from barking try to you know and I'm telling my wife look you know the neighbors are getting upset about this. She needs to freaking take her dog and go back home. She lives in Albuquerque. >> Just [ __ ] go, you know, but she's staying with her boyfriend in Hondo here and there, but of course, we keep the dog. Of course, that's that's minute. You know what I mean? Compared to this right here, this was way out of control. They were way the [ __ ] out of control. >> And that's and like I said, that was the reason why they're leaving today. They actually, like I said, we're going to have you try to go somewhere else for the day, but they insisted the mom is or your your wife insisted that she'll take the kids and then they'll go somewhere for the night. So, because of the fact you don't want them back here, which I totally understand, [music] and which me and Corporal Dan already talked about it, it's like we can't I mean, we can't stop her from coming back, but we advise her not to because of the fact that we don't want we don't you don't want her here. >> If she comes over here, I'm calling you guys. I'm going down to file for a divorce in the morning. I I don't need this [ __ ] to remember, man, you also have restraining orders. Order protections as well. You want do I have to explain those to you? I can give you a quick. >> All right. So, restrain. Yeah. So, restraining orders. Order protections. Just think about it. You know what I mean? Go to the district court and see what you can do. But like I said, she's even more upset now the fact that I told her she can't come back. Which I get it. I just told her it'd be smart not to come back without law enforcement because I don't want you to act out. I don't want her to act out. I don't want the kids to come up and gang on you and say, "Hey, he's been flipping us off. He said this and that." I don't want none of that here. So that's why we [music] just tell him that she can't come back without court order or with one of us at least. >> I don't want her in the house. No, cuz I don't [ __ ] ever want to be accused of some [ __ ] >> Just like I I don't know what they're telling you, but but >> the three of them attacked me. So I'm tell I'm >> like I said, I >> obviously they're giving you a different story. So I mean [ __ ] a I didn't go after them, >> right? No, I say I get you, man. It's it's their word and then it's going to be your story as well. I'm going to type it all up, get it done as soon as possible. Okay. Like I said, you know, that's the reason why I'm here and you know, I wish I can wish it would have been a different day, you know, but I also want to let you know about the guns. We're going to just put them in safe keeping. We'll have all that stuff ready. Get in contact with starting casting at the office. He'll let you know when he when we'll be able to release them. Okay. Any other weapons that you know of that are cuz we went through the big safe, went to the bottom safe. >> Not that I know of. >> Okay. Well, we grabbed a lot of them, man. I grabbed about almost 12, 15 of them. Okay. So, if I behoove you, if you do find another one, just give me a call. I can run back over here where I can try to gather in the morning. We're going to try to figure out something to get the weapon. All right. All right, man. We'll be in contact. Okay. >> All right. So, you're going to send a summon to court? >> Yeah, just here. You'll get it here to charge me with domestic battery. It's out of my hands. I've already tried doing the separation. I tried doing all my part, but I got to contact my superiors and let them know what's going on. And based off of the witness statements I have, based off your statement and everything, it's just it's not going your way. >> Huh. That's a [ __ ] shitty situation for me. All three of those ladies are going to stick together for sure. I don't know what Mikey saw or didn't see. >> Mikey, I'm not going to lie to you. Mikey didn't say he didn't see anything. >> And >> Mikey just I'm going to tell you what Mikey said because he is a man of the house obviously when you're not here or whatever. But he just said that he just saw he just trying to stop the fight. That's all he saw. >> He did. He said >> Yeah, I know that that's all he said. [music] That's honestly all he said. I got statements from everybody else and uh like I said, we reviewed him with the DA's office and everything. Okay. >> For a moment, they were convinced he had finally accepted his fate, but they were wrong. and soon [music] they'd realize just how mistaken they were. >> So just whenever you get the summons, like I said, you have the time to respond to it. I think it's going to be in the next 10 to 15 days and then like I said, it's just going to just make [music] sure it's Mike. I'm on on real but manto man. Just don't do nothing dumb, man. Okay. I know. I I know. I'm just telling you that because I deal with it a lot and you know that. >> So it's a different story. It's a different place. >> I know >> her ex, she caught him treating cheating on her. >> Mhm. She took a baseball bat and beat every part of his pickup to a pulp. Like to the best of my knowledge, he never filed charges on her. He was [ __ ] wrong. >> That's why I didn't want her going upstairs with those guns. I actually >> No, I know. I'm was going with her. I just thought I'd just talk to you really quick. >> I don't trust her. >> Yeah, >> I don't. >> And that's another thing, too. That That was the reason why I told her she's not allowed to be back as well. Okay. I don't want her here with you here. I don't want her here at all. And that's why I said that's why I told her and I talked to my sergeant just to verify because I've done this plenty of times. I know the law when it comes to Yeah. Could Can anybody come back to the Of course you could. >> Would it be the smartest thing to do? >> No, of course not. >> Because you're pissed off. You guys just got into an incident. You don't want her back anymore. >> I promise you the first thing I'll do is [ __ ] call 911. >> I know. I I get you. And then I told you, man, we'll be here. >> I don't need this [ __ ] dude. I didn't do anything wrong. And look, I'm going to charge this on me. [ __ ] Sorry, Mike. I tried everything. I tried everything I could and I know you know I did cuz imagine if I just did this in and out. There would be some questions against me. But I took my time. I made sure I called the right people. We'd put this in their hands. I said, "You need to guide me because I can't make this decision on my own based on all these statements against one person, one person against all of them." >> Yeah. It's just, you know, one second she's bitching to me that her daughter's talking back to her. Well, then when I start addressing her, she gets defensive of her and then freaking all three of them are freaking attacking me. And >> what I what I've learned Yeah. No, no. What I've learned through all these domestics and everything, man, is that blood is thicker than water. That that that >> [ __ ] ain't >> that that's all I can say because you know how that is. Blood is thicker than water anytime. So, like I said, if you need anything from us, you need, you let me know. Okay. Um, I'm going to go and get a quick case number really quick and then I'll just go ahead and leave right there on your porch so you can just calm down and relax. Okay? Sound good, Mike? >> Man, I've been calm. I've been relaxed. >> I know. I know. I know you have, but you know how many times I've been told that and you know. >> I don't. >> I know. I get you get >> about them. I'm worried about my career and my life right now. I just I don't mean none of their [ __ ] I didn't even finish my second one. >> Yeah. Freaking thing's still full. >> All right, Mike. When we get out here, okay, I I do I think I You're doing your job. I don't know why they [snorts] were not getting [ __ ] charges on there, man. No, it's under review. So, >> it's under review. So, >> walk off on my license. >> No, no, no. >> After all was said and done, he was charged with battery against a [music] household member and two counts of battery in an insolent manner. Just like the rescue of Sergeant Mike's wife and stepdaughters, these officers moved fast to protect an innocent woman from her stalker ex-boyfriend who was a cop. >> Um, I had her location uh cuz I had an Apple Air Tag in her gym bag. You are going to be placed under arrest for stalking and criminal trespass. This is not an easy thing for me to do. This is something that I don't want to do. >> Take my watch off. Take your watch off. >> Yeah. On April the 17th, 2025, officers of the New Mexico [music] Police Department responded to a residence following reports that one of their officers, Sergeant Troy, was causing a disturbance outside the residence. When they arrived, they [music] proceeded to question him, but nothing could have prepared them for the love turned sour story that they were about to hear. >> What's going on, Troy? What's going on, man? What's good? I've been for over a year and she's been cheating on me with [music] this dude right here and she was not coming to the door at all. And all I want to do is just talk to this dude. So, I'm honestly at I just wanted to talk but at this point I'm just going to go to admin about it. Um, she's been apparently cheating on me for months and just lying about it. And I've been hearing rumors about her being at station six. This guy's a firefighter. Um, same car I've seen at the fire station. And all I wanted to do is talk, but now I'm going to have to report it up. No. >> Okay. All right. All right. Is this his house or is this her house? >> This is his house. >> Is this his house? >> I'm assuming. >> Okay. All right. Well, cuz the thing is, dude, they they called they called us and stuff like that. Well, they called >> I'm assuming they don't want us here. [snorts] >> Yeah, the Yeah, the serges and stuff like that. So, me and Cavin are here >> um cuz we were knocking on the door and stuff like that. And I'm like, okay. So me and you came, we came here to figure out what the hell's going on. >> Yeah. So I've been with her for over a year. Apparently she's been with this dude for like like four months, close to like four months that she's been with this guy just cheating on me, lying to me about it. So I just figured all this stuff out now and that's why I'm here. I'm just trying to talk to him. >> And so how did you figure it out? >> So essentially um about four or five months ago, right? like how I said that form on the gap. >> Um we were having some issues and um I had her location uh because I had an Apple Air Tag in her gym bag and this address popped up um and I she'd been staying here for for like weeks on end, >> right? And um she had been seeing her for weeks on end. And um I basically um she would just tell me that she was at her grandma's or or her uh so so apparently she had been um she'd been saying that she was at her grandma's and and stuff and I just didn't know. I just didn't I I didn't think anything of it. And um and I like I never told her anything about this address cuz she didn't want to know where. She just doesn't like me being nosy, I guess. Or I'm assuming. >> Um but she had been living with me, too. So she would be like, "Oh, well, I'm going to my grandma's." Um and this location will pop up with her applier tag. And um then she'd come back and she'd stay with me and she'd be staying with me for weeks. And so there'd be rumors like uh well um she's talking to to a firefighter and I'm like she's not. And um I'm just so lost in my head. >> Did she know anything about the air tag? >> Yeah, she did. She found it later. >> But but did she know she going to put it in her bag? >> Yeah. before she found it. >> Oh, no. Okay. All right. But this that was months ago. Um, she found it and we just had our little dispute over it and I never mentioned anything about this address. So, >> and then tonight you decided to come over here and check it for yourself or >> Well, yeah, cuz I finally cuz I tied two together cuz the Hyundai Sonata. >> Mhm. And I have been I have um I was told like like two months ago that she was seen uh with another dude in this this Hyundai Sonata. I'd ask her, she denied it. And then she would go and cuz it was at the department like everyone talks, right? So she would go to up to them and be like, "Hey, you didn't see me in that car. Like what what's the matter if you don't get in my business?" Stuff like that. Now I just tied two together. Although they knew that he was already implicated by his narrative, they chose to let him continue talking. And when he was done, they decided to take another important step in the investigation. >> And here's her unit. Here's his car. We're supposed to be in a relationship. She's obviously sleeping with him. So, I just wanted to talk to him. I just wanted to I never thought about getting like physical or anything like that. I just legitimately wanted to talk to him [music] and figure out how long she'd been playing me for. >> Okay. Right. Well, probably ain't going to let you talk to him. >> Yeah, we probably ain't going to let you do that. >> Yeah, I know that, but I'm not even tripping on that. >> I just want the truth, you know? >> Right. Right. >> That's all I wanted. I just want the truth. >> Okay. All right. Sit tight for me real quick. Let me go find out some. Okay. When they questioned his ex, [music] she described the terrifying moments she found the air tag placed inside a slit in her gym bag. She also went on to tell them that he was [music] stalking her, but before they could take any action against him, they decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. All right, Troy. All right, I know I asked you questions before and stuff like that. So, but before asking any more questions, all right, we just going to do the Miranda rights. All right. >> All right. So, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say cannot be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer before and during questions and have them present while being questioned. Okay. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you at no expense. Do you understand your rights? I do. >> All right. Understanding your rights. Are you still willing to talk? >> Yes. >> All right. Okay. So, when I first arrived, all right, I was just going to do a quick synopsis. When I first arrived, I noticed you right here at the front door. Um, and then when we were called, we we did hear the knocking in the background. Okay. That knocking in the background was that you? >> Yeah. Okay. All right. So, when I spoke with you, you stated that uh been in a romantic relationship. >> Mhm. >> Okay. And that you had discovered that she was she had been cheating on you. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Um at one point of your statement, you had told me that you had put an air tag in her gym bag. >> Yeah. >> Is that correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. What around when when was that that you put >> This was like December. So, you put the the you put the tag in her bag in December. Um, do you have like approximate date or you just know like >> um she went on vacation um to Florida >> and before that like a week before that um that's probably when I that's when I did it. >> Okay. >> About a week before that. >> Okay. Um do you know about when she possibly discovered it? um the day of she leaving the uh that she was leaving to Florida, she um confirmed me about it when she got to Albuquerque. Okay. All right. Um so after that incident, was there any more like any other incidences of you possibly like following her or showing up places where she's at without her knowledge? No. Um, and so how did you discover how did you discover that this is one of that this is his vehicle? >> So like I said before, I discovered this address through one of the days on the Air Tag. Okay. Um she was like saying she was going to the gym. Went to the gym and she had um because she was living with me and then um she said she wasn't um that she was going to go stay at her grandma's and um this is apparently where her grandma was or is. Um so that's like I've known of this address. Like I've always known of this address. Um so like I always just thought this was like her grandma's address. Um, like I was I never like like ran to see who the owner was of any vehicle or anything like that. Like I always just believed her and I thought it was her grandma's. Um, so when she said she would go to her grandma's, I knew she was here. Um, as far as like following her and stuff, I've never done any of that. Never followed her any any sort. Um there is an instance where she um where there was like a uh cuz she drives a red Jeep. Um there was a red Jeep um driving down like one of the streets like while I was on patrol and I was like huh I cuz at the time she said that she was um like in Albuquerque or something for a doctor's appointment and um uh I just saw that red jeep. I was like there there can't it can't be. So I ran it. It wasn't her. And then I told her about it. I was like, "Hey, by the way, like I thought that was you and I ran it and it wasn't. I was just being paranoid and she was like and she got on to me and got all mad and upset." So um she's always like held that grudge against me thinking that I'm trying to like follow cars thinking it's her, but um that was like that only instance. Um as far as anything else right now. So, what provoked you to come over here tonight? >> When he heard that question, he knew in that instant that his fate could be sealed by the next word that came out of his mouth. So, he made up his mind to scheme his way through. So, I had learned from another officer about a day or two ago while I was on shift that was at station six uh with her red jeep and there was a male inside of her doorway and obviously still currently dating. And I was like, and um after learning that, like I called her, I called her, I confronted her about it. Um she was just very very like super defensive um saying that she was going to like go to admin if like I tried to like cause anything and like to keep our relationship like a secret. And um I was just so overwhelmed with emotion. Like I didn't know like I didn't want to believe it. And then backtrack. Um about 5 months 5 months ago um Spites had told me that was seen in a white Hyundai Sonata um driving down the street on their day off and I was like no that can't be her. And then I confronted her about it and she was like, "No, the I was at a chiropractor blah blah blah." And I was like, "Okay." And then she confronted Spites about it. It was like, "Oh, keep my name out of your mouth. Like, that's not me." And then fasttracked it here. She's seen at station 6. There's a white Hyundai Sonata that I saw at station 6 when I drove by it. >> And when did you drive by station six? This was like the day of him telling me that. >> No, it was 5 months ago. >> No, the day um the officer told me that um she was seen at station 6. This was like 2 days ago that she was seen at station 6. >> Okay. So, you drove by station six to see if that car was there. >> Yeah, there's a white um Well, I wasn't necessarily looking for that specific vehicle. I was just seeing if she was there. >> Okay. >> And then while I was driving by, I noticed there was a white Honda Sonata. And I was like, "That's just weird." I mean, but there's a lot, so I didn't know if it was it was that one for sure. And then um um it was today um we were talking uh cuz we've been having a lot of problems with our relationship cuz she's got a lot going on apparently is what she's been saying. And um we've just been going through a lot and just arguing, arguing, um trying to talk things through. And I like I I needed someone to talk to and um she said she was going to talk to me in the morning. I was like, "Okay, cool." Said, "I love you. Good night." And um I was just curious. I was like, "Is she I wonder if she's home." Um like she says she is. So I drove by here and I saw that white humana. I'm like, but I've always thought this was her grandma's house. So I just like I'm like, "Okay. And um it just I guess all the it all came together. >> Yeah. >> Do you think do you think it was wise knocking on the door though at 1:00 in the morning? >> Like I was just so overwhelmed with emotion that I just wanted to know the truth, right? Like I didn't want to like be physical or anything of the sort. I just wanted to have a conversation with whoever this firefighter dude is. That's it. Cuz I just want to know the truth. I deserve to know the truth. Especially if I've been with this chick for over a year and she's been doing this to me for months. >> Like that's not fair to me. And I just want to know the truth. I know it probably wasn't right, but I was just so overwhelmed with emotion. And I would just want to know the truth. Like I'm calm and collective. I'm not trying to cause any problems. I'm not breaking it. I'm not tampering with her vehicles. I'm not doing any of the extracurricular. I just literally I was just staying at the door cuz I know she's here. She said it's her grandma's. I mean, why wouldn't she? She's done this to me before where she is at my door at 1:2 in the morning because of smaller problems. So, I I just wanted to talk to him if possible. And that's why I was at the door cuz I just thought this was her grandma. I don't know whose address it is. So, I don't know why they would have a problem with me just talking to him. I just wanted to be mad about it. That was it. After hearing him out, they realized his situation was truly a pitiful one. But he had crossed the line and he would face the consequences. But before taking him into custody, he had one request from [music] the officers. >> Okay. I wasn't trying to cause any problems. All right. So, you realize how [music] big of a thing this is, right? Okay. Um, I'm not going to beat around the bush with you, okay? I'm going be straight up with you. All right. With the incidents that's going on, dude, this is matching this is matching the the elements of stalking, bro. >> I'm not stalking. I've never stalked. Like, I've never had the intent. >> Wait, but check this out. Putting an Air Tag in her bag without her knowledge. Okay, that is monitoring a person's movements, which is an element for stalking. Okay. Showing up to this house. Okay. unannounced. Okay. Seeing that a vehicle that belonged to a guy that she possibly was talking to, seeing her unit here, okay, and then you knocking on the door, ringing the doorbell for 20 minutes. Also, is you showing up physically to a place where she is at that you were uninvited to. >> Well, I didn't know I was uninvited. >> Well, did she say come over here? >> No, she didn't say it. She didn't not say that I can't be here. that. But but did she say, "Hey, come over here at this time of night." >> No. No. >> Okay. All right. So now we have multiple instances and then also you driving by station 6 to see if her vehicle is there. Okay. Another attempt to monitor. All right. So those are all falling to the elements of stalking. Okay. And and it happening more than one time. Okay. All right, that's where we're at. And then also showing up to these people's house, ringing the doorbell for 20 minutes, and like she wants to press charges against you, like the the homeowner. Okay. >> Um, spent a lot of time on the phone while I was in there, um, talking to lieutenant, um, talking to the DAs, everything else like that, man. Cuz we got to make sure we are doing our due diligence in all of it. Mhm. >> Okay. And so as of right now, okay, with the statements I've got from in there and the statements I've gotten from you, okay, you are going to be placed under arrest for stalking and criminal trespass. Okay. This is not an easy thing for me to do. This is something that I don't want to do. Okay. >> So, criminal trespass on what? >> Criminal trespass on stock. Okay. Is any of it against a household member? >> No. Stalking and criminal trespass is not against a household member. >> Am I able to get this an arrest site? >> No, this is not an arrest. This is No, this is not an arrest site. Okay. So, what's going to happen is we're going to take you to the PD. We're going to go with Officer [music] Gimenez. Now, my question is, do you live with anybody or you live alone? >> I live alone. >> You live alone? >> Okay. Uh, we'll figure that out here in a little bit on how because you are going to be placed on admin leave. Also, >> can I call my mom real quick? >> Yeah, we can let you do that. >> No, I just I'm not Well, I essentially was like she got the she called the cops and they got statements from her and and um I guess they're saying that they have elements of so they're left traffic. >> Well, I tried to knock on the door to pick up the and I just wanted to do it peacefully, but she's so >> While he went on to give his mom the details of [music] the incident, he also had deep fears which he couldn't help but share with her. I don't think you can do it anyway and I'll probably get like a arraignment of some sort, but I'm definitely going to have to get an attorney. Um, honestly, most likely I don't know if they're going to fire me or what, but >> I don't know. But I just I was overwhelmed for lunch and actually I just really wanted to talk to the dude. So that's >> Were you? >> Nope. No, I was just knocking at the door for like 20 minutes. I didn't yell or anything like that. Um but um I guess because I I've heard rumors department about her um about her seeing that guy. And then so I like I was going by like um they said it was with a firefighter and an officer told me that it was station six. So, I went by station six and there was an instance where I put an Apple Air Tag in her backpackage back in December and um that was before she went to buy and that's where I found this that's where I originally found this address that she was at grandma's house but it's actually so she's been doing she called me for like five months straight because somewhere [music] >> it's on Sycamore. >> Seen her car there. >> Well, I don't want to get I don't I don't want to get into it, but I'm just I'm just telling you cuz I guess they're saying that I I met the elements of of stalking, so they're they're going to take me to jail. So >> yeah. So I don't know what's going to happen like my job. >> Well, hopefully not. >> You didn't pay anybody. >> Yeah, but it's stocking is what they're saying. That's a completely different sort of crime because it it follows some sort of pattern, but No, I I I have to go to jail. >> Does she have >> Does Does she have access? Does she have access to your place? >> Yeah, she does. >> Okay. All right. So So what we'll do, um >> Well, she also has access to my house, too. She has my She has keys to my house. >> Well, I wouldn't. I'll I'll get those. >> Okay. Yeah, I'll get those. Um, so what we can do then, um, we can get your mom's phone number. Okay. That way when Captain Sharp and them are ready to grab your ID card and stuff like that, they can meet up with your mom to get that. >> Okay. And you think I'll get an arrangement in the morning? >> Yeah. Yeah. Tomorrow. Yeah. Hopefully. Yeah, they hopefully they aren cuz Friday is good Friday. >> All right, Mom. Just um try to find a good lawyer, okay? cuz I don't know how hard she's going to want to fight me on it. But I you you know it's all [ __ ] Especially if you seen her car there. She's obviously been cheating on me for more than 6 months and we we've been together for over a year. So >> now she said that she has >> um I don't think you can do anything here right now cuz I'm probably going to be in there until the morning and then I'll probably get like an arrangement of some sort. But I'm definitely going to have to attorney. Um, obviously most likely they're I don't know if they're going to like fire me or what, but >> why would she do that? >> I don't know. But I just I was overwhelmed with emotion. I shouldn't have come over here, but I just really wanted to talk to the dude. So, >> were you yelling, crying? >> Nope. No, I was just knocking at the door for like 20 minutes. I didn't yell or anything like that. Um but [music] um >> after talking to his mom, he suddenly felt the need to ask the officers one last question. >> As far as the stalking, like is she the one pressing the charges? >> She said she did want to press charges. >> All right. >> Yeah. Uh, this one's like classified as a like it's still kind of under the Family Violence Protection Act, but this is one of those ones that you need to ask them like >> it could fall like if I meet you on >> because I've never seen like stalking like on a household. That's why I was asking. >> Yeah. No. No. That's the thing. It kind of falls under the family violence protection act, but it's kind of not. >> You think I'm going to lose my job? >> That's not for me to determine. >> But like like do you think >> I don't know. >> I mean, I didn't lay no hands. I didn't try to fight. Right now, right now, you're only being charged, okay? You're not being convicted or anything like that. Okay? But granted, yes, they are going to put you on that. I'm going to let you know right now, they're going to put you on admin leave. Lieutenant Fries already had the PD waiting on us. They put you on admin leave until >> they determine what they want to do. >> Okay. Those are my keys. >> All right. Okay. Uh >> I just have my wall on my phone. >> Okay. No, that's fine. So, you said your rifle You said your rifle's in here. >> Yeah. >> Um >> you said your rifle's in here, right? >> My rifle, my vest. Okay. >> All right. Here. >> All right. And then the rest of your stuff is at your place. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Yeah. We'll get the phone number for your mom. That way she can meet them to pick up the rest of your stuff. Okay. Um other than that, just go ahead and cuff them in the front and we'll do it like that. We pretty much we kicked everybody out of the PD so that way nobody won't be there. Um we'll just sit you upstairs while I type up the paperwork and stuff like that. Okay. Take my watch off. >> Take your watch off. >> Yeah. He was eventually charged with stalking and disorderly conduct and placed on paid administrative leave. In another case of respectable cops holding their own to account, a California cop was [music] apprehended in Arizona for being disorderly and assaulting innocent citizens at a bar. >> I've removed you twice from two different clubs. Do you not understand that? Hey, just that without a mask. Was he hitting the hand? Kept doing. >> How many times did you say he was knocking a hand away off you? >> Dude, I have a law enforcement ID. You, sir, are a disrespect to our profession this evening. If you say it, >> if you were a true cop and you cared about the blue, you would not put me in this position right now. >> On November the 14th, 2020, Arizona officers responded to a bar after reports of a man later identified as [music] Drew Scott Romo, a California cop, was causing a disturbance outside. Just hours earlier, they had dealt with the same man at another bar where he had stirred up trouble. Back then, they let him off with a warning, hoping that he'd steer clear [music] of trouble. But when the next call came in, it was clear that he had taken the warning lightly, and his ears were nothing more than decoration. So this time, they decided they were going to drive the truth into him the hard way. You need to go. Let's go. >> You need to go. >> They don't want you here, so you have to go. >> It's simple. You had too much to drink and you're not processing anything anymore. Arizona law requires that if a bar realizes you're too intoxicated, they must remove you within 30 minutes >> on your own. >> You've been removed. There's no drunken public law. They don't have that here in state. >> They're kicking you out because you're inside their establishment to intoxicate. That's a state law. They're removing you. All the time. >> He got like really close and I was like, "Hey, little little personal space, bro." And he just kept pushing pushing. I was like, "All right, >> you going to be a victim?" >> Sure. [ __ ] it. Cool. >> At this point, they had heard enough and were ready to teach him a lesson that he would never forget. But after placing him in cuffs, one of the officers shared a piece of information that was about to turn an already ugly situation into something far worse. >> You're too under. >> I'm going to go home. I'm going to go home. Oh, now you're going to go home. You just said you didn't want to go home. Now you want to go home. >> Are you serious? >> Now you want to go home. >> Let's sit him down. >> Dude, I have a [ __ ] law enforcement ID. You, sir, are a disrespect to our profession this evening. If you say it one more time, I'm going to hold you in custody and make you tell the judge in the morning that you have a law enforcement ID. You're a disgrace right now. How about a couple hours ago when you refused service into another bar and we told you to go home. Just go home. It's time to go home. You can't get into any more bars. Your buddies asked you to leave and you would not leave and you walked off on your own and they left you. >> But it's a bar. >> That's what you're not getting. See, this is the other part that's a disgrace to our profession that you're not catching. If you were a true cop and you cared about the blue, you would not put me in this position right now. You would have freaking gone home when I asked you to. >> While the officers were still talking to him and trying to get him to contact his superior, he didn't seem too cooperative. He was a cop after all and was probably going to get another pat on the head. >> Okay, that's the position you put in. >> I would have went home. >> Yeah, I do think you should have got home. I have five people that provided me the exact same statement about you trying to physically assault them and then watch you physically assault the bouncer by swatting his hand away. They noted at least 10 times. >> The security guard noted at least 15 times. Okay. >> 15 times. >> Drew, >> bro, you have your sergeant's information. >> Bravo 33. Copy 27 29. >> Are you a sergeant? Who's your immediate supervisor? >> No. >> I will tell you that honestly. >> Do you have a lieutenant information? >> No, I don't. >> Okay. So, you would like for me to blind call your agency tomorrow and tell them that I arrested you and then ask to speak to the police chief? Who would you like me to who would you like me to notify? Because if you don't want to give me information, it's going to be a blind call to whoever I can get a hold of. >> I don't have a to be honest with you. >> Are you listening me to be honest with you? >> I would I would hope you would be honest. So, >> hey, where' you guys get >> locked up for me? Can you contact Jacob? >> So, hey, LT's going to probably need to try to get a number from there. So, let's just keep it open. >> By now, he was beginning to come to terms with the reality he never thought possible. But just when the officers lease expected it, he made a shocking request. >> And then you'll have your phone on you, so when you go down to the jail, you'll be able to call whoever you need. >> Can I contact right now who I need to? >> Unfortunately, not at this moment. >> It's a sergeant within your jurisdiction. What I'm going to reference you to is my sergeant's on scene and now my lieutenant's on scene. I imagine my lieutenant's going to want to talk with you and get that contact information for your sergeant. >> These [ __ ] cuffs are pretty hefty on me. >> All right, man. I'm going to double check them when we finish this. You You got a large wrist, so >> I do. I'm not supposed to be in cuffs. So, >> well, I I would agree with you, but unfortunately, here we are. >> Can we adjust them a little bit? >> I We sure can. Yep. I'd be happy to do that. Got to go. >> Yeah. And this is a sergeant in your jurisdiction and a neighboring one. >> Plaster County. >> Posture. >> Plaster. >> Plaster County. >> County. I'm sorry. >> What do you need, man? >> I can't see you. Hang on, man. Trying to figure out what's going on, man. I got to pretend you're not seeing me. I'm going to work with you. Wait, why you working with me? What? >> You know this is [ __ ] >> I don't even know what's going on. >> I'm a [ __ ] cop. You know that. >> Are you a cop at? >> You know that. >> You don't care. You don't care, do you? >> Cuz you're a [ __ ] You're sworn in. I get it. >> I 100% get it, bro. >> You know what? Swear in. >> Get sworn in. Okay. Cuz I can't [ __ ] feel my wrist and I'm a good dude. I'm a cop. That's the weird thing. >> I can't feel my [ __ ] wrist, but I'm a good cop. You know the weird thing about that >> is I can't feel my [ __ ] wrist. >> He loosened them for you. So, >> and you'll believe that. I saw him leaking. >> Yeah, you'll believe that >> and I I did too. >> Our lieutenant on scene decided to to really help you out. >> Okay. >> So, going to be charged with the crime against the lesser of the two crimes. >> Different statues, bro. >> What's the statute? >> Our statute is 2904. >> I don't know what that means. >> I don't know why you asked me. I'm asking what it is. I just said it to you. I don't know what that means. >> For reasons best known to him, he kept arguing with the officers. And no matter how hard they tried to keep him calm, he seemed determined to make them pay for putting him in cuffs. >> You mean the [ __ ] >> I'm asking you. I don't understand. If I'm patience with you, >> that's [ __ ] fine, bro. I'm asking you what it means. Keep limping off to me and you're going to stay down. >> Yeah. Well, you're not [ __ ] determining the charge, are you? >> Hey, sir. >> No, I don't. What the charges? >> Explain it to you. I I don't understand the charge. He's not He's not explaining to me. >> Sir, I can't hear you. >> We're not going to do this. >> Sir, I can't hear you. police officer any amount of time. We're not going to do trial on the side of the road. >> That's fine. >> Okay. He's already explained to you that you've been arrested conduct. >> That's fine. But you can push the issue with >> we can also charge you with assault based on you batting the security guard. And I'll tell you what assault will do. Assault will get you terminated. So better course of action >> is to treat the guy who's being nice to you with a little >> He's not being nice to me, sir. He's not treating me with respect. I didn't bat the security. >> Okay, we have friends. >> We have marchable. We have >> I'm friends with the sergeant. >> I didn't bat the security guard. I'm being honest with you. I'm >> That's why you have your day in court. >> I understand. I'm not >> Here's the deal, though. >> I'm not afraid to [ __ ] tell you the truth. >> My advice to you is just sit down, be quiet. >> Totally. That's what I'm doing. That's what I'm trying to do. But I'm also trying to understand the charge. >> And I'm also trying we could charge you. Tell me the charge though, sir. They didn't tell me the charge. >> I'm telling it to you right now. >> I appreciate you telling me >> disorder conduct and assault. >> Okay. I appreciate you. >> Just go with disorder conduct cuz you charge me with assault. I'm probably going to get terminated. >> I understand that. >> I appreciate you telling me that cuz I didn't understand that. Nobody told me that. So, I appreciate you >> because we're trying to do a solid and just >> I appreciate that. I appreciate that. >> All right. >> I appreciate that so much. >> Absolutely. So sir, what do I need to do? >> Sit down, be quiet, and after they release me, do I need to do anything? Do I need to follow up at all? >> They'll explain to you. >> I'll give you a court date, all 9 yards. >> Okay. So they give me a court date. Do I need to follow up on that? >> What do you think? >> Yes. But am I being charged with that? Am I >> going to be a police officer a year? What do you tell people when they're in this exact same situation? >> That they follow the order. >> Same with you, buddy. >> Yeah, but that doesn't make sense. >> If you're telling me that I don't need to worry about it, but then you are. >> So, sir, you're telling me that I need to worry about it, but then I don't need to worry about it. >> We're going to get you in the jails. We're going to get you uh man, put one leg in. >> Okay. All right. One, two, three. >> Just right here. >> No, I'm doing that. Where you at? >> Uh, just on the side right here with everybody coming in. >> So, you're taking me in? >> What are you booking me for? 647F. >> Yes. Is that going on record? >> Is what going on what record? >> 647F. >> Sure. >> Jesus Christ, bro. >> Yeah, man. >> 647F is going on my record. >> Spread your feet. >> I can't walk. >> No, you're done walking. You need to spread your feet. >> You have any needles? >> I don't have nothing, bro. Jeez, people are blowing up your phone, man. >> Yeah, I understand that. Okay, I feel that. >> So, I'm asking you what I need to Why am I being booked for all Drew? You know the deal. Okay, man. >> You know the deal. I can't be [ __ ] spilling out, bro. >> After searching him, they hauled him off to jail. But even behind bars, he couldn't help himself, showing everyone just how much of a disgrace he was to the badge. >> Is there anything on your persons that we missed during this search? >> No. Zero. >> All right. We have to give everyone the same warning that goes into our cop car into our jail. There's anything on your person that you know that we missed that's in your underwear, socks, shoes, or boots and you knowly take it into the police car or into our facility, it's a felony offense in the state of Arizona. things like shoes. >> I know it is fit. Did >> you slide your hands down into the There you go. Keep keep hanging. >> Keep work keep working your hands down. There's elbow grooves. Okay. >> It's a short ride. Come on. >> Where am I going to get the job? going on her. >> What's up, man? >> I can't [ __ ] breathe in here. >> Okay. >> Are you a [ __ ] prisoner? >> Well, sir, at this current time, you are in a jail facility. The correct term probably would be prisoner. Um, however, we're trying to get you released, but you're not showing any signs of sobering up that allows us to believe that you can go out and act accordingly in society. >> From what I understand, you're dialing 911. You're continuously >> breathe, sir. >> You're continuously banging on the jail cell doors >> because I can't breathe. >> I have anxiety. >> I'm completely understand the anxiety part. >> I am sobering up. What do you want me to do? >> Well, >> I can't breathe in here. >> I understand that. I am ordered to inform you of this information. Upon your release, you are ordered to call Lieutenant Scott Blind and I will provide you his phone number. >> Okay. And you are ordered to call him immediately upon your release to report your actions. >> Do you have any questions about that directive? >> But I can't breathe here. >> Okay. I I'm not sure what other thing that I can offer for you. >> I feel like a [ __ ] animal here and this ain't right. >> You've arrested cop to cop. >> You've arrested people, right? >> I have. >> And they end up in a jail, right? >> I have. >> So, you were arrested. So, you end up in a jail. >> There's nothing we can do special for you because of your situation. >> No, you can't. No. >> Unfortunately, no. No, I can't. This is This is This goes back to our conversation from 3 hours ago when we tried our best to give you the professional courtesy that it deserved. >> I gave it to you. >> No, no, no, no. We tried to give you the professional courtesy. >> I gave it to you. >> Okay. >> I was in handcuffs when I gave it to you. >> Okay. Um I'm done here. I just had to advise you of what you are ordered to do. >> I understand, sir, but I can't breathe in here. I open >> I can open your trap, but if you're going to keep banging, I'm not going to do it. This is allowed to do it. >> I literally >> Is that Is that a fair compromise? They'll open your traps to allow air flow inside. >> He's going to come pick you up tonight. We have to release you to a severe. >> So, if you were out drinking with friends, I >> boss, you said you called 911. All right, my man. You got to help us out, too, being a police officer. >> What do I need to do? >> Not call 911. >> I'm call 911 cuz I can't breathe. >> Okay. Do you remember the >> No one's answering my call. You guys are treating me like a [ __ ] prisoner, which I get, but I'm You got to give me something. >> Yeah, we'll leave you alone, Drew. >> His insistence on not being able to breathe [music] was probably part of his plan to stall the situation and cause an unnecessary scene. But the officers had handled a lot of corrupt cops like him in the past, and he wasn't about to [music] be an exception. >> Dude, I can't I can't breathe. Do do you remember prior to the George Floyd incident that we got in the habit of saying if you can talk you can breathe? Do you remember that? >> I understand. >> So the fact that you're able to raise your voice, the fact that you're able to bang on a door, the fact that you're able to dial 911 leads me to believe or a regional person to believe that you are able to get oxygen into your lungs. >> Have you ever been trapped in a jail cell? I >> I have not. I have not made poor decisions enough to wind myself up into this. >> What was my poor decision? But what I can tell you is I do have asthma and I do take an inhaler. So I can sympathize with you when I do have that feeling of the trament. But what I can offer to you is that we're going to open up your your your tray door here and if you'd like, you can get some fresh air that comes through there until you decide to stop banging on the jail door and calling 911. You're going to sit in here. The sooner that you can just take a little nap and wake up and kind of be in a better mood, the sooner that you're going to get out of here. I have to report back to your lieutenant this evening and now I got to report back this behavior. Furthermore, >> what's the behavior? >> So, you've been nothing but disruptive in the jail facility this evening. >> I can't breathe. >> Okay, sir. I I'm done. Do you have any questions for me besides >> I'm asking how do I get out of this? >> He just told you >> take a nap. Close your eyes. >> I'm not going to take a nap. >> All right, man. Until you until you stop banging on the jail doors and down. >> Can I call my lieutenant right now? I um >> how do I get out as soon as possible? >> You know what? Fair enough. He was, however, fined $650 while the assault charges were dropped and he was ultimately dismissed from the force. Although those Arizona cops deserved an award for taking in officer Drew, these ones deserve to have their names etched in gold for standing up to a corrupt sheriff. >> Uh, Sheriff Luan search for him or >> for the building as well. >> What? >> I have no idea. It's Tell us. >> You guys are up, man. >> They hurt. Am I under arrest? >> You're being detained. >> Well, yeah. Why do I have to have cuffs on? On May the 21st, 2020, [music] New Mexico deputies arrived at the home of the Rio Aribba County Sheriff James Luhan, but the court ordered to search his apartment and mobile device as part of an obstruction of justice [music] investigation. Come here. >> Come. Yeah. Come come here. I'm I'm tell you to come here. Okay. Dude, do you see anything? >> Oh, yeah. Look, no cap. I'm not even going to touch it. It's blue hunds right here. It's all the blue hunds are right there behind that receipt. Thank you. All that's my money. He didn't have that. >> This is your money? >> Yes. I heard him crumble it up. >> Thank you. Thank you. All that ain't my money. >> That's my money. >> That's my money right there. >> Sir, you've been watching me the whole time. >> I seen you take it. I seen you crumble. Just count it. If I'm right, it's going to be around $1,000 if I'm right. And like I told you, I just went to Wendy's. I saw I seen you still sir. If you if you don't mind, I just want to sit down. I don't want to do nothing. All I know is I know what I know and I seen it. >> I just wanted you guys to trust me. That's why I was acting a little out. But I'm perfectly fine. You feel what I'm saying? I'm sorry. I wasn't trying I wasn't trying to expose you. >> That is not me, bud. >> Brother, I just seen you steal my money. It was no reason to pop my rubber band, brother. It was no reason for you to pop my rubber band off my money. >> I didn't pop your rubber band off your money. I heard it. Me and you just spoke about it. You heard him agree to it when we first I said I heard you do. You said, "Oh, I had to do something something something." It's okay. >> It's okay. I know. I just >> I just here today. Mr. Chapman went in my money. He separated my money. He was trying to steal it and I caught put it in between his legs and as his as his colleagues approached me, he worked it towards the door. He tried to make it seem like I was lying. I'm not going anywhere. I'm in full custody of of of these officers. I'm being detained. I'm not going anywhere. I don't want any problem. I'm not armed. I didn't do anything wrong. I was just pulled over for a traffic stop. He just tried to steal some of my money. >> Okay, we're hearing you, but there's no need to say all of I was just looking at the camera. No, I just know how it goes. You know what I'm saying? I don't want to >> My camera's on. All right. So, let's take it down or not. >> Yes, ma'am. I apologize. We're good here. >> Yes, ma'am. >> So, what are we going to do about this problem? Cuz you just tried to steal someone. >> No, sir. put any allegations on him. I'm not trying to say anything. I'm not I'm not using my words like to try to hurt anybody. I just know what I know. >> After finding the alleged stolen money, Moon gave further testimony to prove that officer Chapman had indeed stolen his money. And the things he said were pretty incriminating for the officer. >> He told officer Casperon, whatever. >> Caperson. Yeah, Caperson that she could take me and then uh he told Lack to um like well soon as we pulled up first he called you outside to to get like confirmation of what was he supposed to do with a federal um warrant person. So, uh, he was already coming out. Make a long story short, as um, [snorts] uh, Lax started bringing out the envelope for the inventory. I mean, uh, for my stuff, uh, like my property, [music] I heard I heard a rubber band being tangled with. That's when I asked the question out loud. I said, uh, why would you take a rubber band off the money? And I can't quite remember the answer he gave me, but he confirmed to me that he took the rubber band off the money. And like, it's my property. I'm a man, so I'mma watch my belongings the whole time. You feel what I'm saying? And like I had stated when Lack pulled me over, I was eating Wendy's. And that money was bill money. Like it's on y'all cameras that when my girlfriend pulled up, she asked me for the bill money. >> Mhm. >> So he told her like, "Keep the money in my possession, which was, you know what I'm saying?" Which was cool. Which was in you guys, well, which was in his possession at this point. >> So as I was being transferred into the car, I heard the rubber band pop. That's when I asked the question like, "Oh, like what you doing?" Like like what were you doing with the money? And he was like basically like like he confirmed that he was doing something but he just didn't say what or I don't know if I missed it but I know >> we was five of us. >> You don't you don't recall what he said. >> I don't recall but like I'm saying it was five of us right there. So I know one of the cameras probably picked up on it or his should have. >> Okay. >> Which I know his probably was off because he was stealing my money. >> [music] >> But he kept like trying to make it seem as if my eyes were playing tricks on me. And I heard the rubber band pop and the whole while alone on like what you guys would see on your cameras. [music] I was talking to you guys rather well really at you guys cuz I was watching him. And the whole alone I kept seeing him move his legs. And as soon as I said it and put it out there, he tried to put the money in between his legs and hand her over the stack. When I seen the size of the stack [music] and officer Casperon as asked me how much money was it, I didn't want to tell you guys the exact number because I wasn't sure what he had took from the [music] stack. All I was sure of was that the way that I placed the rubber band on the money wasn't the same. It wasn't. After getting a full statement from Moon, it was time to deal with Chapman. And this was when he began to regret his dishonest actions. But it was already too late. He had brought Shane to law enforcement and was going to pay the full price for it. [music] So, like this is what's going to happen. All right. We we have people coming in. Obviously, they they have to talk talk to you. All right. So, um I I'm going have to hold on to your weapon record. Okay. >> Yep. Go ahead. Take just take the uh whole holster off. It's one of them. See what else? I got um Sergeant Burke and you know one of the detectives going to come and speak to to you. All right. So just chill out, relax. Do do you need anything? >> No. I'm I'm I just want to apologize everyone I say, man. one of these things, dude. And I'm I'm sorry, brother. >> Um, anything to drink or anything? >> No. >> Just want to say I'm sorry. >> Well, we're going to walk out of here and close the door. Okay. So, let me hear. >> All right. Um, let me know if you need anything. All right. >> I'm good. S I appreciate. >> In the end, Chapman admitted to stealing the money. He resigned the day after being charged with embezzlement.
