On January 31st, 2025, after assisting with a nearby arrest, a Hoboken police officer returned to his vehicle to find what might have been an aspiring officer sitting in the driver's seat of his squad car with the police radio in his hand. The aspiring officer was removed from the car and placed under arrest. According to Hoboken police, he appeared to be under the influence of fencycodine PCP. Due to his behavior and the faint odor of PCP emanating from his body, he was transported to Hoboken police headquarters for processing and charged with burglary and criminal attempted theft.
