Oh my my Oh my god. Do anything. >> My car. Then look for my receipt. I dropped it. I've already been through this aisle. >> All this All this is stolen. We got to We got to figure this out. Stop. >> Please don't put me in handcuffs. Okay. Don't put me in handcuffs. Don't put me in handcuffs. Don't put me in. >> Okay. Don't put me in handcuffs. >> Officers deal with shoplifting women all the time, and many learn from their mistakes. But what happens when they catch some reckless woman who stupidly dragged their kids into the crime with them? >> All right, get up. >> You okay? >> You have anything on your back? >> No. >> Get off of me. >> You're not moving. >> Please. Please. >> The fact you put your baby in harm piss me off. You're going to jail for being stupid. Here are the times when dumb mothers get caught shoplifting with their kids. We begin with a truly wild case where officers caught a teenager, her mother, and her grandmother shoplifting together at a store >> vehicle. >> Do you guys have any receipts for anything today? Did anybody pay for anything at this store today? >> Oh, wow. There's a lot. Why were you putting things in your granddaughter's backpack? >> On November the 29th, 2024, Flaggler County Sheriff's deputies responded to a shoplifting incident at a Target in Palm Coast, Florida. It involved a mother, Yolina, a 17-year-old daughter, and the grandmother. Store employees first spotted the daughter stealing cosmetics and decided to confront her. Heat. Heat. Meanwhile, the mother and grandmother were also caught on surveillance leaving the store with stolen items. The officers reached the staff office where the daughter was being held. The employees immediately showed them footage of the crime. >> Hello. What's going on? >> Can't speak all of us. Okay. >> This is what she took. >> Yeah. So, her parents tell you want to brief on >> Yeah. So, this young lady had this stuff inside of that green bag and >> a backpack over here. >> Okay. >> She just decided to walk out. I stopped her, escort her back here. More information revealed. She's with mom and grandma here. >> Okay. >> Mom and grandma did not see me bringing her from points of sale to here. >> Okay. >> So, they're completely out of the loop on that. Um, on camera, the mom is putting stuff in her bag/backpack as well. I don't know if she walked out with it or not when we escorted her back here. That's where our focus went. So, um, it looks like the mom is potentially walking around looking for her who's obviously detained here. >> Okay. >> So, >> how old are you? [Music] >> That's alcohol. >> I don't drink that. My parents do. I don't drink that. I don't drink that. I don't even drink anything. >> But you put it in your backpack. My grandma my my mom first and then my my mom first and then my grandma did. They both put that in. >> They put it in your backpack. >> Yes. >> H >> I just don't drink this. This is my mom and my dad and like but my grandma doesn't really drink it a lot of alcohol. She doesn't drink a lot. >> There's some suspicion that there's some resale activity happening. So, where's mom and grandma at now? >> So, grandma's outside with presumably more stolen merchandise at the vehicle. I think she has the car keys to the vehicle. >> You had the car keys? >> No. >> To notify mom. >> Yeah, that was our first thing. >> So, that's mom. Mom walked out with the cart and mom's right here. >> Okay. This is grandma right here. >> Backpack. Or did she put it in her backpack? >> No, I think mommy and grandma >> Yeah, mom and grandma both put it in that backpack. >> In that backpack. >> And then mom put it in in her purse there. >> I'm assuming mom does some kind of record because why are you >> I'm confused. Hold on. I'm confused. So, she's got the backpack with her. This young lady. >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Mom and grandma were putting stuff in this young lady's backpack. >> Correct. >> Did mom or grandma put anything in their belongings that they didn't pay for? Yes, we believe so. That's what we're confirming right now. >> Okay. >> I'm just trying to figure out the specifics so when I confront mom, >> that was my question, too. Yeah. Multiple items concealed in multiple different bags. >> And mom's still wandering the store. >> Yeah, I believe so. I haven't seen her come in. She's wearing all black. the only way we can try to find like roughly where she's at. >> There's >> You have the car keys. >> You have the car. >> There's no way she's going to get into the car without I have the car keys again. >> Where's the car parked? >> She doesn't have a phone. >> I have no good memory, but I don't remember. It's probably somewhere. >> Is that you go on that side or this side? >> I know it's this side. I know it's this side. I >> country side. >> Yes. I really What kind of car? >> Black Toyota. A black Toyota. >> The officers began questioning the young girl and seemed a little lost. So, they turned their attention to Yolina, who was still unaware of what had happened with her daughter. >> Who do you live with? >> Um, my grandma. >> She used to like my legal guardian. >> Well, I don't know how to say guardian. >> Yeah, that's her. >> Where do you go to school? high school in that correct me if I'm wrong. My parents built in Russia already. >> Do you have a driver's license or >> I don't drive yet. I don't drive. >> They They really want me to drive, but at least I'm really scared of driving. I'm really scared of driving. She can't drive the car yet. >> Apparently, it's a whole family affair. >> She was putting stuff in her backpack. Mom's putting stuff in her backpack. Grandma's putting stuff in her backpack. >> So, we're trying to find out where mom is now in the store so I can go get mom and bring her in here. I guess we'll just take everyone to jail. You >> ever been in trouble with the law before? >> No. >> You seemed very confused by that question. Have you or have you not? >> No. I sometimes are just confused with the word law. >> Okay. Police. >> Have you ever been arrested? >> No. >> Has mom ever been arrested? >> I don't think so. No. >> I don't think so. What about grandma? Outstanding. Come on in here. Got him off. Step on in here. >> Huh? Does that look familiar? Looks familiar. >> Yeah, it looks very familiar, doesn't it? >> All right. Why don't you go ahead and have a seat? Actually, go have a seat right over there. >> You got any ID on there? >> No. >> You don't have any ID? >> No. >> Do you have a driver's license? >> No. >> In the car? >> It's in the car. >> Okay. You want to stay here? >> Yeah. Yeah. If you want to stay here, I'll go get grandma. >> What's up with this? >> You're going to gift it to somebody? There's >> a lot of wine. >> 60 bucks on this one. >> So, >> there's no um I heard you're from New York, right? >> New York. >> No resale activity. >> Oh, no way. >> No, >> no, wait. No. It's >> just unusual for someone to get that much wine. That's why >> No, no. This is just a Christmas gifts for friends and the family in the office. >> Got it. >> You're a nurse, right? >> Yeah. >> Office. Office. Office is [Music] like >> your hospital. >> No, it's not a hospital. >> Okay. >> You're just down here for Thanksgiving. And soon after the officers rounded up the grandmother as well, who was waiting in the parking lot with a cart full of stolen items. >> Hello, Mr. Tamara. >> Yes. >> How are you? >> I'm fine, thank you. >> You need to come with me. >> Uh, >> yep. I have your I have your I have Yolina and your granddaughter. Come on. You can come with me. I'll take this. Come on. >> Okay. >> Come on. going to go right in these doors up here. Come, come with me. >> Oh. Oh, this one. >> Come here. I will push the cart. You come with me. >> With the entire trio now in front of them, the officers began interrogating them. >> All right. So, here's the rest of it. You want to see if there's anything else that's uh >> Yeah. Do you guys have any receipts for anything today? Did anybody pay for anything at this store today? >> No. You didn't pay for anything? >> No. >> So, you just walked out with all this? >> This is the problem they from the store. >> You didn't pay for any of it? >> No, we just because of the wallet was in lock. That's it. >> That's not a really good excuse. >> That's what I did. >> Yeah. >> You should have waited inside the store with the stuff though. >> That's That's my fault. I'm so sorry. I >> Is this your backpack or does this backpack belong to Target? No, this is not a Target bag. >> I don't think it's a crazy question to ask. >> I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. No, it's not. >> It's not from >> Walmart. >> I'm going to open it up and look inside of it. Okay. >> But it's I mean this is this is what's >> Yeah. >> Poncho. Is this your poncho? >> Is this yours? Eggs are in there. And then you mind if I look in here? Get this stuff out. Can I get this stuff out? Our stuff there. >> Oh, wow. >> There's a lot. >> Okay. >> You're telling me there's no resale? >> No resale, guys. I'm telling you, there is no resale. This is $10. $10 $9. Where is >> there anything else in these this backpack? >> Nothing. >> Okay, I'm going to put it on the bottom here. >> Yeah, >> there's two uh drinks down there on the bottom, too. There's stuff on the very bottom. And >> good hall. >> Yeah. should have went with the healthy free ring. >> Yeah, the good stuff. >> Not uh not the black box though. >> Yeah, >> man. [Music] Nothing. My apologies. Really, I really apologize for you for this. >> I would like to apologize. >> No, you don't have to apologize to me. You didn't steal anything from me. >> No. Wait. Anyway, >> everyone always wants to apologize after they get caught. >> All right, I will get a receipt for you guys. Okay. Excuse me. What you wearing? >> Thank you. You're welcome. >> This is the first time. >> First of all, I forgot my wallet and she told me wallet in the car. >> That's what I wait for. >> She took a wallet and pay for it. So you you you bring the car outside as opposed to leave it in here. >> But if you see it, I don't have car at all. >> Mhm. But you were at the car, right? >> You mean drive a car? >> Yeah. >> Drive a car outside. Yes. >> Yep. >> You want to go with this? >> You want to go with him? All right. Before I ask you any questions, I got to read you something. Okay. Before I ask you any questions, I have to read you your rights. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. You understand? With these rights in mind, do you want to answer some questions for me? It's a yes or no. Do you want to answer some questions for me? >> Some questions. >> I need a yes or no. >> If I ask you questions, are you going to answer questions for me? >> Okay. >> I need a yes or a no? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I'm so sorry. I'm sorry. >> Okay. After their initial lies were busted by the officers, Yolina began to apologize for her mistake, but it was a little too late for that. >> I'm so sorry. >> Okay, don't apologize to me for it. You didn't do anything to me. You did something to the Target store. Okay. So, walk me through what happened. >> This is last time. This is the first time and the last time I just >> Okay. Well, there's a whole lot of stuff. Regardless, we'll we'll get to that. Okay. talk talk me through what happened. You came to Target. What happened? >> Came to Target. Then we um you know I said uh maybe some um visiting mom you know it's just uh getting black Friday. It's a just opportunity to get some um gifts for the family for the business as I said business partners. >> Okay. >> Because we have a party usually you know Christmas party and uh other you know just get back um after family holidays. So being said that what's the best you know just uh for the party to have the wine >> not a car or any anything just a shopping that's >> but when you get things at a store you know you're supposed to pay for them right >> of course of course of course this is unquestionable it's >> so let me ask you this why let me let me ask you this why were you putting alcoholic beverages is in your 17-year-old daughter's backpack. >> But because of Yeah, I'm idiot. >> Okay. >> Because I am an idiot. One more time. This is I'm not saying that. >> This is the worst. This is the worst punishment. This is the worst punishment. >> I don't know how to say that. I I I I could have said it on a worse words worse than >> because of her. >> Because of who? >> Because of >> your daughter. Okay. So, you put a bunch of bottles of wine and champagne in your daughter's backpack. Then you put a bunch of wine and champagne. Is that your bag or is that your mom's bag that you put them in? No, this is the old just floating bags. >> Huh? >> I mean, just from her house bags, >> right? But was it a bag you were carrying or was it a bag your mom was carrying? >> Which one? >> The one that was in the cart >> on on the cart. That's hers. >> So, you put them in her car in her bag and you put them in your daughter's bag. >> Yes. >> I'm not lying. No, I'm I'm I'm not saying you lie. >> I'm honest. I'm truly honest. This is my worst. >> Okay, you understand? I have a hard time believing that you're truly honest because you just stole >> honest. >> You just stole almost $400 worth of things from Target. >> While Yolina came clean pretty quickly, the grandma turned out to be a tougher nut to crack. >> Do you have money to pay for the items? >> Really? No. >> No, you don't have the money. Of course, I can afford like three bottles, >> but not 15. >> This is that that kind of champagne. >> Oh, yeah. It's really expensive, which is makes it even worse that you're saying you can't afford it, yet you're going to steal it. So, all right. Hold on. >> Do we have >> video? I said hold on. No, it's too late for that. Hold on. I'm going to put the >> Okay, please hold on. >> Oh, I'm so sorry. >> Do we have video of grandma putting the things in the bag also or just her? >> Yeah, >> we do. >> Yeah, >> grandma partially put it in the the bag as well. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> The daughters. >> Yeah, sounds that way. Let me mute this for a minute. >> All right, you guys go back in there for a question. >> Okay. >> She has a wallet in the car and uh I stay there and she'll go back to pay. >> Okay, >> that's what she told me. >> So, why were you putting things in your granddaughter's backpack? And uh this is the same thing if you >> So you put them in your granddaughter's backpack. >> Just only Yeah. One bottle >> even one bottle. >> Me one bottle. >> Okay. >> Because >> Why did you put it in the backpack? Why didn't you put it in the cart? >> Because she doesn't have a car. Yes. That's what's happening. >> Huh? She uh she's walked with me. She doesn't have a push car. I think I don't right now. I don't remember. >> You don't remember why you were putting >> Because right now I'm so nervous. No. No. I I put in a in a in a bank. Yes. For my for my granddaughter. >> I put because she doesn't have a pushka. I think she's uh you know to anyway she's a pay from the box. Sometimes I use if I use backpack sometimes I put it and uh go to registry and took everything. It's not me. >> But this time you took all the stuff that was in the bag. >> Just only one. >> Let me finish. >> All the stuff that was in the bag in the cart that you had with you out at the car. None of that was >> made go to bed. Come back here. Why did you take it out of the store? >> This I don't know. It looks like >> that's stealing. >> Why you say it's stealing? >> Because you have Let me finish. Because you have things that belong to the store. You walked out of the store to your car with the stuff. >> No, I was without anything. >> When I found you at the car, she uh have a car. I walk without anything. And she told me, "Wait, I have to go to see the granddaughter." That's what she told me. >> But when I found you out, let let me When I found you out there. >> Yes. >> You had the grocery cart. >> Yes. >> And you had the bag >> that had all the wine in it. >> But I didn't know that. They have all wine or something there. I didn't know that. The grandmother tried hard to shift the blame onto her daughter who was sitting right behind her, but none of it was going to help her escape the consequences. >> I don't know. I don't see what she's was in in because I was in a bottle. >> So, you're saying she put everything in the bag. >> I just want I put my granddaughter one bottle. What she uh That's it. Nothing else. And I don't have a car. So, how did all the other bottles get in your grand granddaughter's bag? >> You see in because I was in the bathroom. >> You see in a screen I was in the bathroom. I don't see what that they're doing there because my stomach is 10% all the time. 10 15 minutes I have to go to bathroom because I had a cancer and I didn't know where she do it there was she told just she pushed car and I followed her and she told me we have money in a wallet in the car that's what she told me wait we took uh Vlad because I give Vlad uh my key from the car >> Mhm. Huh? >> And I don't have anything. And I said, "Wait, I don't see anything what they put in in the uh in the back >> because I was not there. >> I was not there." >> Okay. >> I was in a bathroom. >> Okay. >> That's what I'm going to right now. >> Okay. Hold on. >> Here for me. I Yes. So, >> I got something. >> Huh? >> Okay. >> What a mess. >> I didn't take anything >> except the backpack that was on your back when you walked out of the store. Forget about that. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. [Music] There's video of you walking out with the backpack on your back with a bunch of bottles of wine in it. >> Just only one car. Just only one b one. Only one. >> Stealing and stealing. >> Don't apologize to me. You didn't steal from me. >> You got a hold of her. Yes. Yes. Someone is >> coming. >> Who's coming? >> My dad. >> Your dad's coming. >> Her dad. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, I am going to give these to all three of you. These two are going to go with you to the jail. I'll explain what they are. Here's yours. This is a trespass warning for Target. You are no longer ever allowed to come back to Target. If you come back to Target and you're seen, you will go to jail again. >> Okay. >> Thank you so much. >> You understand that? >> Do you understand that? You cannot come back to Target. Okay. >> That means in the parking lot. That means in the store, anywhere. Nowhere at Target. >> The officers handcuffed Yolina and her mother, placing them in the back of the van to take them to jail. Yolina made one last desperate attempt to plead with the officer. Sheriff, is there any way we can you can forgive the first time? >> That I can forgive the first time? >> Yes, >> sure. I forgive you. >> But it's not up to me. Target wants to press charges for shoplifting. >> It's not It's not up to me. >> What's happening with us right now? >> Uh, you're under arrest. We're going to the jail. We're at the jail now. You're under arrest for shoplifting. >> Can we do what? >> Can we reimburse, you know, the target for um for whatever damage? >> No, you're you're trespassed from Target, so you can't go back to Target. >> No, I understand. through the through you. >> Not through me. Maybe someone else can uh can come to um you know to pay for the what whatever damage whatever >> I mean that's that's up to you after you get out of jail if you want to do that. >> Yes, we're going to do that. >> But you guys can't go back to Target. So you guys I understand I'm I'm just explaining to you. You would have to contact a friend or a family member or somebody else that could go to Target for you. those. >> Okay. And who we should uh speak to? >> I I you'd have to call Target. I don't I don't know. >> That's That's through Target. I don't I I don't know who you would have to call for that. >> And how long will you go to jail? >> Long. >> Okay. Okay. That's okay. >> Just give me a minute. I got a lot of paperwork I got to do. The longer we talk, the more >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I apologize. I'm sorry, dear officer. Is there any possibility maybe we can speak to the um my husband can speak to the target people and then um they will reconsider that? >> That's up to Target. I can't answer that question. I don't have the answers. So, when you get >> Can we make a phone call >> right now? No. >> No. >> No, I can't do that right now. >> While Yolina accepted her fate, the grandma made another sneaky attempt to get off by putting the entire blame on her daughter. >> You believe this? I never drink no wine, nothing. Absolutely nothing. I didn't drink at all. >> Yeah. >> At all. It never done. Never. No smoking, no drinking, no nothing. Absolutely nothing. what she's put in my bed. That's what that you never You know, I told you I was I was in a bathroom. I didn't see anything what they did. >> I But the problem is I saw you on video >> putting things in a bag and >> that's what that's Vlad told me to put one more bottle. You walked out of the store with the backpack on your back full of things that you knew had not been paid for. So that's that's the problem. >> You see, if I this her I never paid. I thought she told me uh go to store together or store car together and pick up a wallet and I paid what she told me. How did she pay for it? And how did she pay? I didn't see my granddaughter. >> How did she pay for it when it was in the backpack on your back? In the bathroom. >> I was in the No, no, I was bathroom before. As soon as I come to store, I was in the bathroom. >> I know. And when Yolena walked out, you went to the bathroom again and you had the backpack. >> And then you walked out of the store with the backpack on your back. >> Because I didn't see it. Can you think because I was concentrate in a toilet, not not in a restroom, not not only what they have in a backpack. >> But my point is you had things concealed in your backpack and you walked out without paying for them. >> You see, I didn't know it was in a backpack because I never touch back but I put in a backpack. I never knew was there. >> Okay. >> That's what's happened. >> Okay. And she told me and she put car and I didn't touch it the uh car and she told me go to go together to I pick up the and we go back to pay. Well, she told me >> because I don't care about wine. I don't care about anything. I had the cancer. I don't care any nothing. Maybe I I live couple months, maybe couple years. Who knows? What I care about? >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> There's both mine. >> On the floor. >> Yolina and her mother were charged with theft. Moving on to even more troubling cases where a careless mother was caught shoplifting at a Walmart, shockingly encouraging her 5-year-old daughter to steal toys for herself. >> Where's your receipt? >> I don't I dropped it then. I didn't steal anything. Why are you arresting me? >> for theft. are squish pay for. [Music] >> On January the 15th, 2023, Walmart employees alerted authorities about a shoplifting incident. Oh my my Oh my god. I didn't steal anything. >> My car. Then look for my receipt. I dropped it. I've already been through this aisle. I see. I'm here all the time. >> Okay. Where's your receipt? >> I don't I dropped it then. I didn't steal anything. >> So, you weren't bagging the stuff up in the toy section? >> No. >> Then what? I guess I was imagining something. >> Yeah, you were. I was. >> Fine. Just hang tight. As the police officer began to question her, the mother quickly felt the pressure and buckled. >> So, why don't you why don't we go into the security office and >> put my daughter in the car then. >> Huh? >> No, no, no. >> Okay, we're all going to go to the security office right now and review the footage. >> In front of my kid. >> Okay, stop. >> Please don't put me in handcuffs. Then I have money. >> We're going to watch the video. >> Okay. And then what? And and then if you if you conceal stuff without paying for it, then you're probably going to go to jail. >> But I have the money for it. >> It doesn't matter. The crime is already committed. [Music] >> Come on. But I'll pay for it. >> It's a little late. Too late for that. >> What did you do with my ticket? >> Can I please? >> Yeah. >> Can I just pay for whatever your phone? Too late. >> No, it's not. >> Stop. >> So mean. >> According to witnesses, the mother told her young daughter to take whatever toys she wanted without paying. essentially encouraging a shoplifting spree. The little girl, unaware of the consequences, loaded up on toys while her mother played dumb. The officers began to take statements and go through the evidence. >> Please not my arm. >> Please >> have a seat with mommy. [Music] >> I'm not bought this stuff. >> I bought those two things earlier. forget a lot. >> I have the receipt. >> Okay, mommy. [Music] >> I have the receipt. >> Where's the receipt? >> It was in the bag, dude. >> Sit down. Calm down. >> Well, then if it's in the bag, then we'll find it. Sit down. Please don't take me to jail. >> Stupid freaking squish. I was going to pay for him. >> You just admitted you were going to pay for him. You just admitted this. >> I already had P. Please, >> you guys are happy about suspicion alone. >> I'm never happy about >> I know, but I I pay for the other things. Can I please go home? >> What? And soon after, she did start to show some remorse, but it was a little too late. Oh, please. >> You're going to jail. >> Please. >> I told you it was a stupid ticket. >> He just told me. >> I told you that's what it was. I sat there in front of you and I said, "It's a stupid ticket. I told you I'm not going to jail." >> He didn't. You just told me. >> 521 was done. He knows you. >> The woman was taken to jail and charged with theft, resisting arrest, and endangerment. If you thought this woman was cuckoo, wait till you see Kelly, a young woman who made a very irrational decision to steal and then got her three-year-old kid involved in it, too. >> Some toys that were taken um this had a tag that was moved off of it and then we have a few other random things that >> you got a you got a a snooder in the council, three bindles of dope, and a and a pipe in your back pocket and two torches in the car. You had your hand in the kid's pants. Did you stuff something in his in his pants? On August the 17th, 2024, officers received reports of a shoplifting incident at a local store. When they arrived at the scene, they found a woman called Kelly, who seemed very ashamed and apologetic about the whole thing. >> Hey, Kelly. Officer Rumbler, Brimfield Police. >> No. >> So, I understand you got caught stealing. Why were you doing that? >> Okay. Start a you just What's going on? that I just feel stupid even talking about it because I feel like no one believes you. >> Well, what's up? Why don't they believe you? What's going on though? >> Because I have been caught before these things literally like to have the things that I mostly just they had to watch their dad overdose. >> They're they didn't ask for it. My son was talking about these things he wanted for school and him and his friends and I just saw it and I know my bills are only like $500 and a half. Sounds like you're going through a really hard time right now. >> She concealed into our purse, including her headphones that she removed some alarm system on that we have. So, we got that back. Some toys that were taken. Um, this side had a tag that was moved off of it. And then we have a few other random things that were just in shopping bags for sure. >> Is there anything like else missing that we know about? >> Not that we know. That should account for everything. We didn't search it first cuz we're not allowed to. That's up to you guys if you want to. >> Kelly, why are we stealing? Cuz this this isn't something new. >> Yeah, you can stop acting >> cuz I've given you summons twice. Officer Deal's given you a summon and I believe officer Crosi has as well. So why did we have we not learned our lesson? >> I thought I have I don't know. >> No, >> I don't know. >> Do we just not have money or what are we doing? >> No, I don't. I had no business even coming and spending the money I had on that stuff. I >> Why do you have your kid out this late anyway? How old is he? >> He's three and a half. >> So is he three or six? That's a big difference. >> Oh, okay. >> Obviously. Jeez. Yeah. >> So, the only thing she did pay for was the diapers. >> You know, everything there was paid for. Here's the other receipt, but she's been honest with us so far. As far as we know, she trespass. >> What are the scissors for? You want hair in here or what? >> Do you use it to cut the stuff? >> No, I just I have a lot of Oh, that's Yeah, that's >> scissors are criminal tools, you know, right? >> No, I did not. My phone's busted. cuz she's been in here before and she's stolen from us before and we noticed that the first time that we caught her in the act. >> You guys have priors? >> No, no priors because uh I think she did it off camera or something like that. It wasn't clear enough that I wanted to use. So, this was the first time that we watched her from start to finish when she came in here. Watch her go to the bathroom, take everything, and when she failed to get the stuff at the register, we took her on that and got the rest. >> Okay. Kelly was the mother of a three-year-old and claimed that she did it for her kids, hoping that making such assertions would get her some sympathy points from the officers. But when they searched her car, a much darker truth came out and her entire sub story unraveled. >> Here's Ellie. >> I know you stole from here. I know you stole from Walmart. There's a Marshall's receipt in your bag and I see a Marshall bag on your seat. Is anything from there stolen? >> No. >> Do you mind if I check the receipt up to match? >> Yep. >> Is car unlocked? >> Yeah. >> All my stuff. If not, I know your key was in your purse because I put it back in there. >> All right. Could you just step over here with my partner, please? Just leave it. >> What's that? Just set that back in there for me. Hey, buddy. Can I get in here? >> Grab your toys. >> Hold on to these guys. Okay. >> It's Spider-Man. >> So, there's a shirt in there. >> Straw. There's something in this. >> Okay. Did you check that cigarette bag? >> I did not yet. >> Oh, that's that's dope. Be careful. >> Well, there I already opened it. There was like >> powder. >> Some type of gray stuff in here. >> It's probably >> Is that what that is? >> Uh I don't know. Probably gray. There's probably some kind of mix. So, be careful. >> Just want to take a look at There's three of them. >> What is Well, that's his Their dad just overdosed in front of them not that long ago. He's in I had to drop him off at um a silver living. >> It's not smart at all. And I don't I think it's do they sit right in the center. You got to This is >> I have I I literally I don't I >> Well, here's here's the rub. It's yours now. Okay. So, you're getting arrested tonight. >> What came out of the pack? >> Cigarettes. I I promise. >> What do you mean? What's in it now? >> Nothing. It's just empty. But you want a cigarette? >> Cigarette bag. >> Cuz I asked her to smoke a cigarette. >> Okay. Do you have anything on you in your pockets? Don't reach. Just answer. We're not going to We're not going to cuff you. >> Don't even try to run either. Just lean against the car. Kelly, >> listen. >> Yes, I do. I have it. It's in my back pocket. >> Hand it over. >> Don't Don't reach. I'll get it. What's in there? >> Turn around. >> It's a vital. It's He smokes out of it. >> Turn. Face the car. Can you spread your feet for me? Put your hands on top of the roof for me. >> Oh my god. >> Can you spread your feet wider for me? Thank you. Do >> you have anything else on you, Kelly? >> Anything in your bra? >> No. >> If we go to the jail, it's automatically an addition. Hold on. Hold on. Let me finish. It's automatically an extra F3 if we go in there with it. >> So, if we doain water, >> be legit with me right now. >> We're not going to check your bra. >> But listen, you're you're going to be on video. >> You're on you've been on video since we met you, but you're going to be on video every angle until you get put taken to jail. You are going to jail. Okay. But here's what you got to do. You got to call your mom and have her come get the kid. There's no getting around it. >> I don't have any handcuffs. >> What's that? >> You don't want it. >> No. No. I don't want to do that to the kid. The only reason you're not being put in handcuffs right now is cuz your kids here. Okay. So, you are going to sit on this curb. You're going to call your mom. >> Kelly, before you walk away, where did this come from or what is this? >> It's it's it's been in my car for >> um I maybe it was at um we went to Goodwill. >> 110%. >> Yeah. Where's your phone at? >> In my purse. >> Let's go get it. You are under arrest. You're just not in handcuffs cuz I'm giving you a little respect with your child. Okay. >> Kelly tried her best to make excuses to get out of the dilemma. But things got worse when officers discovered that she was already on probation for theft. She turned even more desperate and kept lying. But nothing she said seemed to be working. >> What happened to his face? >> He has rashes. Okay, >> we both have poison ivy all over us. >> All right, let's make this phone call. >> Hey, Siri. >> Three trifolds of her snutter. She had this in her back pocket. Hey, Kelly, back over here. >> Do you want me to like take him over to my cruiser? She likes police cars. Distracted. >> Yeah, I'm not going to cuff her till this kid's gone. >> Yeah. Yeah. Soon, the officers began tightening the screws, and it didn't look good for Kelly. She was well and truly done for. >> This is the fourth time he's overdosed, and they've never they don't they haven't done anything about it. Well, I don't I don't know what would make you think it's a good idea to drive around with this dope in your center console in his pipe in your back pocket when you're out shopping. >> Clothing in my back pocket, but I I I know. >> Where was that pipe at before? >> 253. >> It was in I just got all all of his clothes were in my car. Fantastic. >> Where is my gun? >> Shut up. >> The officers went back inside the Walmart to check on the baby and to get an idea of how many items she had reportedly stolen and took the statement of the employees. >> That's her son. >> This is her boy. >> Thank you. >> He's great. He's been handling this very well. Hi, Papa. >> Not a single tear shed. Hi. >> No, she didn't care about his job. The officers wrapped up the investigation and took her to the hospital for a checkup. But the drama did not stop there. She began threatening the officers, claiming various medical conditions in a bizarre attempt to avoid consequences. >> So, we're here at the hospital and look, we're at the hospital. I'm not here playing any games with you. So, don't do any of that [ __ ] you've been doing. You're going to walk in the hospital. You're act. >> I have everything I need. I get it. You need help. We're going to get you help. Come on. If you be cool with me, I'm going to be cool with you. And close my door. >> What was that? >> My son. >> Your son? >> Yeah. >> He's safe. He's with us. Uh, I don't know what they're going to do if they're going to do CPS or not, but we're getting them to save one place to stay safe. >> My stomach. >> I have life and I have AIDS and I'm a pregnant woman and I have told you this is pressing my stomach. I don't care. It's pressing my stomach. You have to get off my stomach. I'm a pregnant woman. >> I know. I am a pregnant woman and you have to get this off of my stomach. I have life and I have AIDS. Did you tell the hospital that? Did you tell the jail that? I'm a pregnant woman. And this is wrong for you guys to treat me like this. And I asked for kid to get done and you did not give me one. That is illegal. He didn't even read me my Miranda rights and neither have you guys. That is illegal. >> You want your Miranda right? Do you have the right to remain silent? Can you >> It's too late. It's still a lawsuit. >> Time to talk to your lawyer. have president. >> I have asked for my lawyer this entire time. >> I already have one and I've asked to call him this whole time and he hasn't let me use the phone. >> And you decide any time to exercise his rights to not answer any questions or make any statements >> and he hasn't let me. >> Did you understand any of that? >> Yeah. Did you understand that it's illegal for him to not give me a asking for one the whole time I've been here? >> So, it's Tanya. They're going to be carried into it within the first 48 hours. What are you talking about? >> answer those questions about where >> he didn't ever ask me those questions >> because he never read me my Miranda rightites for one and for two. I'm a pregnant woman and I need you to get this off of my stomach, >> right? >> Okay. Okay. It's hurting my stomach. I'm hurting. >> You got the legs? >> No. It's hurting my stomach and I'm pregnant. Stop. You're hurting me. I got to use the bathroom. I have to use the bathroom. >> I'm going to piss all over this back seat. I have to use the bathroom. I have to. I've been asking to use the bathroom the whole time. I'm pregnant. You're pressing on my stomach. What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do? You are refusing me to get a kit. I'm a And you're refusing to give me a kit. What is wrong with you? I'm a pregnant woman and I'm about to pick the stick of my son. >> You don't want to do that. >> I told you. >> The female was taken to jail and charged with theft, reckless endangerment, obstruction, and trying to elude. The craziness does not stop there as up next is a clueless woman who thought being pregnant would somehow excuse her from a shoplifting charge. >> Why am I being [Music] >> You took it. >> That was your first time. >> I know. I have the fire coming. Can you please have a seat for me? On January the 30th, 2024, police officers responded to a call from the Old Navy Department Store concerning shoplifting reports. The incident involved a pregnant woman who believed her condition exempted her from consequences. When confronted by law enforcement, she defied clear commands, showing disregard for authority. Her delusion that pregnancy would shield her from arrest was about to burst like a bubble. >> So, what's up? Stop. You're being detained. Drop what's in your hands. >> What do you mean? >> You're being detained. Droplets in your hand. >> Sir, why am I being tamed? Sir, why am I being detained? Please stop. What are you doing? No, please. What are you doing? What are you doing? I'm pregnant. >> What is this? >> I got it. >> You are now under arrest for obstruction. >> I didn't even take that word. >> Okay, go ahead. Sit up. Tank gave that to me. >> Okay, bend your knee. >> Gave it to me. >> Bend your knee in so I could get you up. >> He gave it to me. >> Bend this knee in. >> We're going to stand up. Okay, >> there you go. >> He gave it to me. Sorry. >> Bring mine around if you want. >> He gave it to me. No, please. I want him. I see my kids. >> I'll just sit over here. >> That's all I've been saying. >> Sit right here. That's all I've been saying is if I don't listen to my case. >> So, you're under arrest. >> That's all I've been saying, sir. >> Okay. >> I promise you. Nobody wants to listen. >> Deep breath. Take a deep breath. >> Listen. >> Okay. >> I just want to do my head. >> So, I told you to stop. >> You tell me. >> You instead chose to run >> because I don't get why you doing this to me. So, you're not under arrest. >> They did this to me. >> You did it to yourself? >> No, I did not. I promise you I did not get my kids took it from me. >> Okay. >> I promise you. >> My problem. >> Take a deep breath. >> I promise. That has always been my problem. >> Okay. What's your first name? >> M. >> What's your first name? >> Please. I wanted to see my kids. >> Okay, >> that's it. I promise you. >> I'm going to read you your rights cuz you're under arrest. >> You have your right to remain silent. Anything you think may be against you in the court of law. You have the right at this time to talk to your lawyer have been present with you while you're being questioned. >> You cannot afford to hire a lawyer. One will be appointed to represent you before questioning if you wish. >> You can decide at any time to exercise your right to not answer any questions. I want to twist you. I can't. >> Do you understand? He speeds dresses. >> Okay, >> that was I promise you that's all I've been dying. I am dying and nobody wants to listen to me. >> In a desperate plea, her emotional distress peaked during the search procedure, but the officer remained composed and professional, prioritizing both protocol and her condition. I keep saying it over and over. You guys don't believe me. >> Okay. >> I promise you I don't mean to be disrespectful at all. >> I don't mean to be disrespectful at all. >> You're all right. >> I promise you. >> Going to go over here. >> And I don't understand why. >> So if you under arrest, I'm going to search you before you get in my car. Widen your stance. >> I just want to see. hide in your stance. >> I so much I miss you so much and nobody wants to tell me nothing. Don't tell me nothing. >> Why your stance back my hand and check your groin area? >> Go ahead. Have a seat. >> Watch your head. Sit in. >> How do you guys do this to me? >> Sit in. >> You chose to run. >> Sit in. Move your legs. I shut the door. >> I don't understand why. >> The evidence of the crime was undeniable, leaving no room for her to deceive anyone. Though the officer showed empathy, he remained bound by the law as her choices had led her there. Her attempts to justify herself only underscored that pregnancy did exempt one from facing the consequences of her actions. You can't now. >> Now you can use >> this is the but she stole too like all the old navy. >> Just because you're pregnant just a precaution. I'm going to have the fire department come look at you. Okay. Just cuz that's the most important thing right now. Aside from the charges. Okay. When I read you your rights earlier, did you understand them? >> Are you willing to talk to me about what happened? >> Okay. So, you saw me park and I came up. I told you to stop. You weren't free to leave. Okay. The the reason why I'm contacting you is cuz you shoplifted. You match the description of someone that shoplifted from Old Navy and you have all that Old Navy stuff. Did you take that without paying? >> You took it? >> My first time. >> That was your first time? Yeah. I saw that you have no history with us, right? >> No. No. >> So, >> no. No. >> I got you. So, I'm I'm going to have you step out just for a second. Okay. >> Was that the head on her? That's what they saw. >> I just don't want to alter it and then have it like get thrown out. >> All right, Miss Kimi, step out for me just for a second. Okay. So, we're going to just look right here at this car. Okay. >> All right. Go ahead and have a seat, Miss Kimani. Go ahead and have a seat. Here, I'm going to fix this for you. Okay. Go ahead and have a seat. Go ahead. I'm going to explain this all. I need you to have a seat, though. Okay. Thank you. >> I know. I have the fire department coming. Can you please have a seat for me, Miss Kim, so we could continue talking? I'll keep the door open so that way you could get the fresh air. Help calm down. I need you to sit back. Thank you. Thank you. >> Okay, I'm just take take a deep breath. >> Take a deep breath. Okay, so where we're at is car under arrest for theft. Hey, listen. I'm working with you. Okay, just let me talk for a second. I'm being very nice with you. >> I miss you so much. You're under arrest for shoplifting, theft, third, and obstruction. >> I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> And I understand you're sorry. >> Here, I'm going to fix it. Just let me close your eye. >> So, that's where we're at. >> I'm so sorry. I promise. I'm so sorry. >> I I believe it. >> I just want to see my baby. >> Where's your babies at? Dad say, "I promise." >> Okay, go ahead and sit up for me so you don't fall. >> And then go ahead and kick your feet in for now. When the fire department comes, Kimani, we'll have you step back out. Okay. >> Go ahead, step up for me. I need you to sit fully in the car. I want you to follow. I'm going to help you. Okay. Sit all the way >> and kick your feet in. Now, keep the window down so you can watch your head. Kick your other foot in. Kick your other foot in. I'll be right back with you. Okay. Thank you, Kimi. >> In the end, she was charged with resisting arrest and theft. Next is a case of these two pregnant women, Sadaru and Melissa, who went on stealing from different stores and thought that pregnancy and the language barrier were enough excuses to keep them from going to jail. >> I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant. >> I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant. >> That's hard. Do you understand these rights? >> What is this? >> It's your Miranda warning. >> You have rights. Do you understand them? >> What is this? >> Okay. >> I don't care if you're pregnant. Don't steal things. You are under arrest and you're going to go to jail. Just so you know. Okay. >> So, you don't understand. >> Okay. On March the 27th, 2024, a routine theft investigation in Frederick, Maryland, took an unexpected turn when officers encountered two pregnant women, Mela Sadaru and Melissa Stefan, reported for stealing in several stores. And up next is a dumb pregnant woman who thought she could make a run for it after getting caught shoplifting. We're 1500. Well, >> what? Well, how do I have two charges or something? >> All right. So, we're going to have rescue come and check you out. Okay. >> How do I have two charges? >> On January the 15th, 2023, officers responded to a shoplifting incident at Bath and Body Works in Florida involving a pregnant woman infamous for her swift and calculated thefts. As the cops interrogated the employees, they marveled at the skillful and very genius methods she used to steal from the store. >> What happened to the shoes? >> Um, we came in, grabbed the basket, um, filled it up, grabbed another basket, just her usual. I did not physically see her when she was on the floor. Hay, do you want to explain to him like the process today? I was not able to help her best cuz I was still standing right here when she came in cuz I was trying not to like go in her way or whatever. She basically got one basket came up this way and I know she was on this candle while grabbing stuff. >> And then when she filled up that basket, she grabbed another one from over there and then went back to fill more. And then she grabbed some gift sets on her way out and she hit our wallflower wall. And you you physically saw this happen like all of this occur like what she grabbed and everything. Obviously it's a lot so like >> Yeah. >> All right. Um you mind if I get your information though since you actually witness it? Uh you have an ID just make it easier on me. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I just saw her when she came in and I ID her cuz we all know her name. Yeah. >> So and then we were told as soon as she comes in just sorry it took so long. We also had like a >> case up the street. >> You were fine. I did it. anybody that's going to take birth priority. I'm just elated that she finally got her day. I don't know how long she'll be in there for because she's usually up pretty quick, but still no amount. >> So, what time did you did you see her like come in and did you see this occur? Just a ballpark. It doesn't have to be exact. >> I say I put 447 on the report. That's about when I told u my manager and supervisor that she came in and they proceeded to call the police. >> Um You say she left. It's probably 4 minutes after that. >> Mhm. >> So, probably like >> So, she did all of that in 4 minutes. >> Yeah, she's very quick. She'll It usually takes her longer now to walk out the door since she's pregnant when to come in and grab the stuff. >> Gotcha. So, at 4:47, she came in. She What' she do when she came in? >> So, she immediately grabs her basket and heads straight to our regular candle wall. Um, she filled up that one with those candles and then she grabbed her second basket from over here >> without leaving. Like she she had she was like double it. >> Um, she got that one. She went to the second candle wall and grabbed a few candles. >> Um, and then our wallflower wall where she grabbed some of the fancy plugs up there. >> Mhm. >> And then she made her way this way exiting and then grabbed some of our gift bags in one of her hands and then exited. >> Gotcha. So Alfred Candles, you said she went to the plugins. Is that what it was? >> Big mall right here. She dropped like those suns and whatnot. She's been doing a lot more of the lately. Usually she just got candles. Yeah. >> But then now she's starting to grab like gift sets and all the other extra stuff. >> And she filled up the gift bags, right? Or it was just like actual gifts. >> Yeah. Like these. >> Yeah. Some of the ones like the bag. She had like three of them in her hands. As the investigation progressed at the crime location, other officers located the woman. However, when they attempted to reason with her, she made a very ignorant decision that was only going to compound her troubles. >> What? Why? Why you messing with me? >> 1500. >> But why? >> Already? >> Yeah. >> Oh my [ __ ] >> Are you pregnant? >> Yes, I'm pregnant. >> And you're doing all this stuff. >> I can't breathe, sir. >> Let me take off. You want me? >> Okay. Go to the car. I'm not going to run around. The >> car's right here. >> Can you get my phone, please? >> This yours mine. Put it in. >> Okay. Can you get my phone, please? >> Where'd you drop it? >> In the lake. >> Yeah. >> What? Maybe you shouldn't ran. You should have thought of that. >> Yeah. >> What am I being charged with? >> I have two two charges paying for a >> two charges depending on that. >> Yeah. >> How do I have two charges pending for them? >> Well, that's like anything else in your pocket? >> No. >> Unless you want an extra charger. suggest you start being >> I don't have anything. >> Well, how do I have two charges? >> All right. >> We're going to have rescue come and check you out. Okay. >> How do I have two charges? Put your other leg in. Put that down. Like many guilty individuals, she wasn't any different as she attempted to detach herself from her actions while playing the sympathy card. However, her tactics failed, leaving her to regret the choice she had made as it came at a significant cost. >> What am I being charged with? I'm confused. >> We got a call about >> that you I guess we're stilling out about the bodywork. When today that's the call behind the first church. >> That's all I know. >> This is crazy. Can you set my phone over there so I can get somebody to get my kids? >> I'll I'll do that. But because they're doing those, I have to stand by with you. This is [ __ ] >> Where your kids at? >> Yeah, my house. >> Do you know the number by heart? >> No. In my phone. >> It's not I'm not going to try to run now. It's not like I'm going to get out of this car. I just I hope it's not soaking in the lake. I don't know if it's going to let him. >> The reality of her situation began to sink in, but it was too late to undo her reckless decisions. She was now coming to realize that having a big belly did not mean that she was allowed to go around shopping without paying for the items. >> I'm not going to run no more. Y'all already know who I am. >> What's that? >> I'm not going to run no more. Y'all already know who I am. I don't need an extra charge. I'm not going to keep trying to run. I'm already leaving your car. The only way I'm letting you make all the choices for you. I'm just giving you the info. Y'all already know where I am. I'm definitely not going to try to run it in. I'm ready to really get this over with. Do you have a iPhone charger in here? >> I do. >> Yeah. Your phone is broke. Broke though. I don't think it's going to matter if it >> just broke. Broke. >> When questioned about her recent activities at Bath & Body Works, including an incident from December before Christmas. She became evasive. Despite clear video evidence, she denied any wrongdoing. However, the fact was that she was in denial and it did not mean that she was innocent. >> You do understand you were caught on a video inside the store that day. >> Oh, you said was I in the store on Friday 13. >> Friday. >> Were you in the store and she said it's not very painful at all, but she wants to get checked out. officers because she is under delegation. You took 25 hospital $800. >> I didn't say no $25. >> You did not pay for any of that. >> I didn't take $25. >> I mean, pay for something. >> Again, you're on video. That's your answer. >> I didn't take 25. >> If you take any candy, how about one? >> No. You steal anything? >> Did you leave the store without paying for your merchandise? >> Did you buy something? >> So, did you leave without paying for an item on Friday? Did you leave the store without paying for an item? >> Did they do or Okay. >> So, what they see on the video and what they're saying about you, >> you're you're saying is not true. I got to do I got to stop going to Target. I can't go to Walmart no more. >> All right. How about >> I'm trying to catch >> December before Christmas. >> Same store. >> I probably was in there. I was just in there Christmas. >> Again, there's also a video of you December before Christmas. Couple of days before Christmas. Were you at the store? >> So they have a one for me for for that. Not too many ones as ugly as him. So you guys be saying >> again on that same day. >> Yeah. >> They say uh that you left the store without paying for some items. Did you buy something at the store? >> No. >> You didn't buy anything? >> No, I was in there with somebody. >> Okay. >> I don't know why. Oh, it's cold. >> Did you buy any candles? >> No. >> Did you steal any candles? >> Did you steal any candles? So the video with you leaving the store with candles. >> No, >> that's not a real video. >> That's not me. I wasn't stealing. >> Who were you with? You said you were with someone else. >> A friend. >> What's her name or his name? >> Her name is CeCe. You never bring any truck closer? >> No. >> All right. So, what you're saying is that in December you did not exit the store with 18 candles. >> No. >> That you did not pay for about $700 in merchandise. >> And they got a warrant for out for me for this. This is crazy. In the end, she was charged with resisting arrest and theft.
