okay let's get you out of here it's okay your jamm's wet okay it's okay it's okay it's okay aside from battling with some of the toughest situations police officers also encounter emotional moments in the course of their duties and thanks to the body cams worn by these officers we get a peek into some of their most Sensational experiences on the field must St breathing stay with me buddy stay with me Z stay with me Daddy please don't stop breathing come on come on come on come on come on come on stay with me little man okay hey not like my blue lights oh yeah these are some of the most emotional moments caught on police body cam the first body cam showcases the moment a father broke down in tears after finding out his daughter took her own mother's life what happened I left before she got she and Sydney BR me and Andrew on March the 3rd 2022 a woman identified as Brenda pal was having a phone conversation with the dean at her daughter's school when suddenly the call was interrupted by screams on Brenda's end after the phone line went off the dean immediately called back to check in and observed that someone else had picked up the phone pretending to be Brenda concerned about the safety of the woman the professor called 911 to report what had occurred ha please haer [Music] please where's your mom at okay stay right no no there there's so much one no [Applause] pleas no stop stop we got to fure what's going on you car9 get that 32 rolling here quick we got a female down BL s got cry take her outside she's blood cure the scene she looks like a 22 she looks like she's been down for a while there's blood all over the place there's a Knife by her head and stuff like that and there's a huge pool of blood no I think she just walked in on it there's broken window in the back so if you can just put up some crying tap soon as afd gets here they're going to pronounce her I'm sure stop stop hold on we got to figure out what's going on she going to be okay come on come on come on you just need to cooperate with me all right I want my dad huh I want my dad what happened what's going on what's going on we heard a b we heard a bang and she told me to get out and then I heard screaming so I came back and she was on the ground okay you heard a b now B there was a b some broken what is your name Sydney are you cut I I don't think so yeah you're cut somewhere I don't think so yeah your hand no I was helping her I grabbed her all right stop grabbed the knife Brenda's daughter Sydney pal claimed that someone had broken into the house through the back window and attacked her mother however when the cops looked around they found that the window had blood stains an indication that it might have been broken after the attack her father Steven pal arrived at a location to find his daughter panicking and his wife nowhere in sight what's going on I don't know we just got Dad I'm the dad Syne I don't know I don't know the back window's broken in so you're going to have to Daddy inside there so I don't know she was go Che lady house okay she's got minor to get a better idea about what it actually went down that afternoon the police interrogated Sydney's father and his statement about Sydney's behavior on that fateful day gave the off officers reason to believe that she was their primary suspect in this gruesome crime do you live here sir yeah that's my wife and there's my daughter I I the hell is your daughter she'll be 20 in March she's 19 is she coming out not no not yet so just can't hang out Sydney can you tell me what happened huh Sydney Sydney all way yeah it's coming from where yeah that's stand right to here I can hear him who' you get a call from or what happened got a call from you call from me oh okay he said there was a call went out a distress call from the University of Mount Union where my daughter was going and said uh female in distress I said well that's funny cuz Brenda's there my wife so I said well let me call so I called Brenda and it rings and rings on the cell phone no answer I call Sydney back rings and rings and Rings no answer I call Bren back ring ring me no answer I'm pcing around I call Jeep back and as I'm on the phone with him telling him there's no answer my doctor calls me back I said oh Mom's on the phone with the with uh mom Union I said what cops are on the way and she went there's going a break in and there's she just started going off she said she there's B somebody broke into the house there's blood everywhere and I'm like stop and then I started I that's when I called I I mean I'm sure there was conversations after that but I'm not going don't remember the detail she was hysterical ain't crying I called je back and said yes I don't know what I told you I don't know if I said it was legit or yes that cops on the way there's been a break in city and I and I left drove home and saw about so at first you talked to her she said that your wife was on her phone with M yes and and as soon as I said cops are on the way the hysteric started in addition Steven told police officers he discovered that Sydney had been unenrolled from her University due to failing grades and in a bid to find a resolution to the situation he called his wife Brenda who then drove back home from work to meet up with Sydney so I text Sydney I'm like oh give me a call I have a question to ask you my caller no answer say give me a call a question to ask I have a question to ask you and I look on that that little that little light 360 out and her car was at home like wow that's kind of weird so I leave my phone at home so she can't track me and I go home and there she is she's at home perfectly normal she's crying because I I said what's going on are you now going to school she goes I'm overwhelmed in school and I don't really like what I'm doing and it seems like it's a waste of my time in your money I said well but that's all part of it nobody's going to tell you you need to do what you're doing when you're 20 you need to figure it out but but you have to work through the problem you can't just ignore the problem and have it go away I'm sorry when did you have that conversation today like 11:30 I don't remember yeah it was it was I left work I left work because it was before lunch it was maybe around 11:00 because I was probably there from 11: to 11:30 so from her phone call so that mean that's what I said no my recommendation is call the school back call the Student Union get reinstated and then if you have to take the summer off take the summer off figure out what you want just supposed to take summer class cuz she changed a couple majors and that's what she goes all my friends are there together and I don't I said well I'm 54 and I'm him my together that you know don't look at it that way you need to you need to work the problem you can't just have the problem sitting there ignoring it it's not going to do you any good I called my wife from my daughter's phone she picks up she was working down at Children's and she goes what's wrong and I basically told her I said you know I mean Sydney I think the reason we can't get H because she's un enroll been going to school she goes well then we talk to Jill her boss and says I'll see if I can come home so I left on the way home I get I either on my way back to work or when I'm at work I call Brenda and she's like well I'm just pulling in now so I let it go and then I get a text from Brendon says she says something to the effect of she was on the phone waiting for someone from student affairs to call me back and that was at 1236 she says how much was the check that they're returning CU Mount Union told me too and before in the phone conversation we're returning your check like well you don't want nobody to return a check so I said I texted her back at 12:36 and I said I had no idea it was electronic I said check on the scholarship too make sure she didn't lose that at 12:37 at 1239 I got on the bank account and I said I said maybe I go $543 and then at 12:41 what did you discuss with her and that was it so 1241 was 12:41 was the last and I don't know how to tell what time I got his call further revelation made by Sydney's best friend Lauren gave the impression that Sydney had been telling different lies about the fact that she was kicked out of school on the one hand Sydney hid from her parents that she had been suspended from school and on the other she told friends at school that she had decided to leave school with the full support of her parents Lauren's statements about Sydney's attitude suggested that she may have gone this far as a result of pressure to succeed like her appears now we understand that that Sydney was your roommate at Mount Union yes she was last year and then this year T and so you've been friends ever since your soft freshman year at St b m go over each other's houses everything everything like that y well she started off in exercise science freshman year her first semester but then she didn't like the classes so she switched over to psychology and sociology but then she didn't really like that so this year she switched to education and then she didn't like that either and that's one of the reasons she left is cuz she really couldn't find what she left I think she struggled in her classes I don't think her pars were the best but she didn't really tell me that cuz um I wasn't really struggling I think she kept a lot of stuff hidden because when we were just talking or with our friends she always seemed happy like she seemed okay like I said I couldn't tell until the end when she was kind of just like struggling and she kind of was sad and just like boring I don't know what to do so when she's talking to you about um you know the problem she's having at school uh did she mention that she tried talking to her parents yeah I know she definitely especially when she left she talked to her mom about leaving they kind of made that decision together unfortunately Brenda Pal's injuries were severe and the doctors could not do much to save her medical professionals ruled her demise a homicide and when the officers broke the news to Steve he was distraught bad what happened we're not sure it looks like I don't think someone broke into the house I don't know if your wife and daughter got into an argument that physical I mean the window was broken but there's no forc entry into the house the window's broken that nobody actually came through that window and the sliding door was unlocked so did your wife da every like here for you we're here for anything that happens from here on night okay this is not possible [Music] [Music] so sorry happy I'm going to go where can I go [Music] your son's outside he doesn't know my son's here yes got for school because a situation the way social media is people we didn't want him to do by himself would you like one of us to just go be with your son time there's no rush clearly they think Sydney did this that was two I know they're going to do everything they can to make sure they find out exactly what happens nothing definite as of yet they still have to do their investigating although Steven had just receives the worst possible news of his life he still had to play his role as a father and break the sad news to his 16-year-old son where's Ang to sit out there by himself [Music] or well yeah I want anybody me that's legal I don't care I don't want any of you no I just want I just want [Music] following Sydney's charges for a trial was held in 2023 where her father was called to the stand to testify to his wife Brenda Pal's being placed in such a difficult situation would be extremely emotional for anyone like it was for Steven pal did you stay at home I'm sorry do you need a minute no go ahead take your time sir did you stay at home until Brenda got there or did you leave before she got home I left before she got so you you went back you went back to work knowing that Brenda was on her way home yes did you um after you left uh did you share any text messages with Brenda about what was going on with the school and everything I don't recall the timing of anything like that okay defense exhibit B can you tell us who are those folks and Sydney Brenda me and Andrew and defend d That's you I'm sorry syney and Brenda that's Sydney and and Brenda in the backyard and that's when Sydney graduated from St V from St V yes so you probably know Brenda and Sydney better than anybody on the planet I would think so you know what type of um person Brenda was the type of person Sydney is do you believe for a second that Sydney would her mother because of an argument no I'm going toly objection I'll allow it no I do not thank you Mr car I don't know for questions thank you the associate dean of student affairs at Mount Union University Michelle Gaffney who was also on the same phone call with Brenda and allerted the police department about the incident described the horrific moment when Brenda was attacked by her daughter with Mrs gaffney's statement it was clear that Sydney was guilty of the horrific crime and Miss Gaffney what happened next um there was a very large or a very loud sort of thud sound like a pound a pounding or a thud um accompanied by a by a pretty loud scream um and um the scream might have actually been first and then the thud okay as I think about it and then um there was sort of a an expulsion the other sound that I heard at that same time or right after was sort of an expulsion of air like the air was knocked out of somebody okay um I'd always heard that expression of the air being knock you know having the wind knocked out of you but I didn't that's actually what it sounded like um and then several more repeated thuds I don't I don't know how to describe the sound no and that's okay and you could you and Mr Frasier could hear this from the other end of the phone from the other it was on speaker phone right yeah did you hear any communication during these thuds just the screaming um and this um and so we were both talking into the phone saying you know what's going is some what's happening is are you okay what's can we do you need help what what's what's going on yeah can you describe your mindset at this time u i mean very definitely felt like someone was being attacked um and so uh we weren't getting an answer I think at some point I said if if you can't respond we're going to call the police if we don't hear a if can if no one can tell us what's going on um there's a the dean has a an administrative assistant right outside his door so um I said I said I'm going to get Sydney's address um and he kept talking and so Mr frer Mr Fraser yeah Dean Dean Fraser so I opened the door and and told our admin I said I I need Sydney Pal's address right away Sydney pal was subsequently found guilty of the in September of 2023 and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years unfortunately for Steven pal there was no happy ending to this story unlike this miraculous case where officer Robert's body cam captured the moment he revived an unconscious child with his terrified parents stay with me Z stay with me Daddy please don't stop breathing on the 31st of August 2023 a couple were thrown into panic mode when their one-year-old Brown went unconscious and stopped breathing in fear they grabbed zier and drove down the road hoping to find a medical center that would help resuscitate their son as they drove
