imagine with me if you will that you
have a child who is born
with a developmental disability
as the child grows and you become older
you're unable to care for your adult
child
so what you do is you arrange for them
to stay at a group home
where they'll have somebody with them 24
hours a day
who is trained and able to care for them
now imagine that your child who has a
developmental
disability somehow manages to get away
from this group home
because they're left unsupervised and
they find their way to a greyhound bus
station
they get on a bus and they travel
more than two hours away by bus to a
city that they've never been to
to meet up with somebody that they meet
online
this activity brings them in contact
with a police officer
and that police officer calls the group
home where you're supposed to be staying
and they're supposed to be taking care
of you
and the people at that group home tell
the police officer
that they're not going to come they tell
the police officer
that your child who has a developmental
disability
is an adult and they can take care of
themselves
and that the officer should just release
them
i think if that was your child it would
make you more comfortable
knowing that your child's in the custody
of a police officer
who is determined to make sure your
child gets to where they need to be
safely
and he refuses to let them out of his
sight until that takes place

so yesterday it was a dispute i guess
between her and my brother i was at work
i guess my brother heard my brother got
an argument he asked her nicely to my
mom said that he asked her nicely
to leave him alone and she kept
following him agitating him he's a
mental issue so he takes medicine
without his passing he does he don't get
upset so
um he got upset
so he got incarcerated last night okay
they told her not to come back she's not
she ran away from some place inaccurate
i guess the case
okay i just talked to the caseworker uh
whoever the lady is
she um last night they wasn't even
trying to pay us to give because they
didn't know what she was she was missing
for a whole week they said
i'm like well she hasn't been here no we
so how she you know we didn't know about
that um
so they said she didn't miss it for a
whole week and they said we'll give your
reward money if you tell us where she's
at i saw that what do you gotta do with
somebody you can come get her we didn't
know nothing about it
um they came and got it they sent the
police to come get it last night took
her to a hospital
then they drove four hours to come get
her she came showing
they told us she's not allowed back here
she came showing up at our door
and i said what's going on she said that
they told her
they kicked her out well i thought you
know i want to verify because we don't
need this at our house
so i call let me let y'all do this can i
step inside

said they never put her out
they said she wants to come back down
here for my brother my brother don't
even want to do it like i said yesterday
he didn't this is what we first went on

you know there's too much going on but
when she just told me that she
got put on the highway i'm concerned so
i called that i said let me call her
to verify that they said she's not she
hasn't
she takes medicine she hasn't been on
her medicine and she needs to get back
down there they said they're not coming
to get her
they not coming to get her because they
spent four hours to come get her last
night and she just came back down here

things have just went absolutely haywire
she met a man jasper trotter
who has a litany of criminal
charges mostly out of stark county i
believe that
he was in prison for stabbing his father
she recently met someone in columbus
which is how she's ended up
uh
had hit her and he had hit her heart and
her face hurt he was going to jail
and we tried to have a conversation with
her about making safe choices
oh i don't know just not disappearing
for a week at a time
when you have a guardian and 24 7
services
she became upset we got her back with
her apartment
she ended up spending the night next
door to her apartment
to do flexpee on both sides because
her staff hasn't been to work
and a week because she's been gone so
she stayed
on the other side of the duplex because
we had a staff there to stay with her
she went back into her own side of the
duplex about 8 pm this morning
and has a copy of her key would never
not have
a copy of her staff sat with her before
maya
was the snap who was working with her
next door from iowa next door to the
other side of the duplex to use the
restroom
and in the five minutes that she would
went next door felicia took off on
greyhound
back down to columbus
she's a history of making false physical
uh verbal abuse allegations both
against men which are later
unsubstituted but also
against strangers staff anyone um oh she
got somebody arrested yesterday
we have four pending physical abuse
allegations that have all been
unsubstantiated
is somebody going to come get her or not
we've been told by the county that we
should that we're putting ourselves at
risk to drive down there in the middle
of the night
two nights in a row
after she claimed that the guy in akron
had beat her up
they found pieces of gloves inside of
her
and planned parenthood wanted her to
have surgery
to ensure that there was no sepsis
she took off running and missed
when she went to the ultrasound but
missed the follow-up appointment about
that
so maybe the hospital but with covet i
don't know that i want to risk
felicia who knows nothing about social
distancing
making other people sick okay
so i just don't know well who who's
responsible for her

the person who does like
health sign-offs or whatever um
they they said that there's a guardian
that would be in in the morning but
nobody now and they don't have a way to
