I don't think I should drive home, but I don't know. >> So, this is Natalie Joe Serrano, who chose to celebrate her birthday in such a distinctive manner. On November 23rd, [music] 2023, officers were dispatched to a Quick Trip store to address a call from a woman reporting that it was her birthday and she was too intoxicated to drive home. She requested the officer's assistance. >> I think I ran my mirror to go home. >> I think the officer did knock on my window, but I don't care. I think I should drive home. >> I'm out here with her. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> When the officers arrived, they found the [music] woman sitting in her car. She appeared intoxicated and was on the phone with someone. She mentioned that she had damaged [music] her rear view mirror and wanted to go home. Driving under the influence of alcohol is extremely [music] dangerous and a leading cause of serious traffic accidents. If you have consumed alcohol, use taxi services. Call a family member or use public transportation to ensure your safety and that of others. >> Can I have my cigarette first? >> Step on out of the car. >> Drop the cigarette. Drop the cigarette. >> Realizing that the woman seemed uncooperative, an officer asked if she wanted to go to jail. She appeared indifferent and requested to smoke a cigarette before exiting the vehicle. Seeing this, the officer pulled her out of the car. Give me your other hand. My goodness, you are not good at handcuffing, are you? At this point, the officer handcuffed her and placed her in the police car. During the process, she was uncooperative and sarcastic about the officer's handcuffing skills. If you are detained by the police, calmly and respectfully comply with their requests and instructions. Cooperation during this process not only helps you avoid additional charges, but also ensures a safer and quicker resolution for all parties involved. You got a driver's license on you? >> I do. >> Where's it at? >> It's in my wallet, but >> Where's your wallet at? >> In my vehicle, but you can't go through. The police asked for her driver's license and also returned to her car to conduct an inspection. This thorough check is part of their standard procedure to ensure both legal compliance by the driver and public safety. >> You better lock my vehicle right now. >> Can you step out for me, man? >> I don't give a I will step out as soon as that vehicle is locked. >> We can lock your vehicle. My uncle is the chief of your guys police department. That's >> the woman claimed that her uncle was the police chief and demanded that the officers ensure her car was locked securely. When the officer said they had locked the car, she refused to exit the vehicle until she heard the sound of the lock. >> Two choices. You can step out yourself or we can help you. You choose. >> Go ahead and help me. Lock my car, dude. >> No, it's not. >> It's locked. I locked it myself. Don't kick me. >> Realizing the woman was uncooperative, the officers had to forcefully remove her from the car. Under federal law, police officers have the right to use reasonable force to make an arrest, including the use of coercion if necessary. However, the Supreme Court ruling in Graham v. Connor 1989 stipulates that the use of force must be evaluated from the perspective of a reasonable officer on the scene and must be proportionate the level of threat and the subject's non-compliance. >> Ready? Yeah. All right. Come on. Throughout this process, she continuously resisted and insulted the officers, which necessitated the use of force to place her another vehicle for transport to the police station. >> You, too. Yeah, but I'm all right. She got him in the face. You all right? Want me to put it on there, Larry? You >> want me to put a salt on there? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> The suspect kicked a police officer in the face. This action is not only a serious act of violence but also a violation of US federal law regarding assaulting and resisting law enforcement offers outlined 18 USC 111. Under this federal law, anyone who intentionally assaults, obstructs, or resists a police officer while they are performing their duties can face criminal prosecution. Penalties for this offense can include up to 20 years in prison, fines, or both depending on the severity of the act and the consequences caused. >> I don't know. You know how to turn. >> Tell me your name. What's your name? >> What is your name? You have to tell me your name. You know why? Because it's your god law. Give me your name. What is your name? And what is your go on? >> After inspecting the suspect's car, she was taken to jail. During the ride, she remained loud and disorderly. The woman Natalie Joe Serrano was later charged with interference with official acts and assault on persons in certain occupations. 18 USC 1,114 protection of federal employees and officers. This law protects federal employees, including law enforcement officers and individuals in certain professions, from assault, murder, or conspiracy to commit murder while performing their official duties. 18 USC 115 threats against government officials and law enforcement officers. This law stipulates that anyone who threatens, assaults, or injures a federal government official or law enforcement officer while they are performing their duties is considered in violation of federal law. In this case, the suspect has severely violated US federal laws regarding resisting and obstructing law enforcement officers clearly outlined in 1800 regarding risen revisting officers and 18 USC 1,114 [music] 18 USSC 115 regarding the protection of law enforcement personnel. The suspect could face imprisonment from 1 to 20 years or fines depending on the severity of the actions. Therefore, everyone should always respect and comply with the law, especially when dealing with law enforcement agencies. Cooperating and following police instructions not only protects oneself, but also contributes to maintaining security and order within the community. We're not. >> We're not going to do that. Okay. >> Being banned from a hotel was bad enough, but going back and running into the police, this one couldn't end peacefully. >> Just put your brain. >> I've been security force combat arms. I started my country. I died for it. Don't you ever tell me I'm resistant. had a wonderful vacation and ended up in jail without even knowing it. An emergency call from the Marriott Hotel prompted the police to immediately intervene, but the woman they met claimed she just [music] needed to go to the bathroom. >> We're not. >> We're not going to do that. Okay. >> I've been security force combat arms. I started my country. I died for it. Don't you ever tell me I'm resisting. When asked for identification, the woman began talking about patriotism and military service and refused to leave her seat. But that was just the beginning of the chaos to come. >> You see the phone call right there? >> What happened? >> That lady, she's trespassed. So she >> she's the trespass. Which one? >> This lady right here. >> How you doing, man? Everything okay? >> Everything's going well. How you doing? >> I'm just going to the bathroom. I just need you to stay here for a second. All right. I can't go to the bathroom. >> You have my ID on you? >> Yeah, I'm staying. No. Yeah, I think I I'm staying here. I just need to go to the bathroom. >> We notified that we are not supposed to be here. >> What happened? >> You have an ID? Can I see your ID, please? >> Me? I'm not supposed to be here. >> Can I see your ID, please? >> I'm a guest. >> I'm not staying here. >> Are you serious or you're joking? >> Hold up. >> Um, so this is from last time. is the lady that is all the way at the end. She last night she when she was asked to leave she >> with a jacket. >> It's not her with a jacket. >> Yeah. All the way sitting at the bar all the way at the end to She doesn't have anything. Last time she claimed that I was threatening her with a knife and it was a whole >> And what would you guys like to do? Would you guys like to press charges? >> Yeah, because she not be here. She actually bothers all the guests and makes them feel uncomfortable. >> Okay. >> And last time she was saying that we were threatening her when she was asked to please leave. That's when we handcuffs >> as the handcuffs tighten. She screamed, "I died for this country." A former soldier now sits on the hotel floor begging for forgiveness. >> Hey ma'am, how's it going? My god. >> It's okay if I talk to you back there, man. >> I'm sorry >> for what? I haven't done anything. >> Okay, I just need to talk to you. Okay. Do you have your ID with you? >> Let's go. No. No. Let's go. No. No. Let's go. Let's go first. >> All right. >> All right. >> Don't do that. >> We're not. >> We're not going to do that. Okay. [clears throat] >> Stop. Face me. >> Yeah. Sorry. >> What's your name, man? >> My name is Li Nelson. >> Thank you. I've been security force combat arms woman. I served my country. I died for it. Don't you ever tell me. I'm resisting. >> I know what resentment is. Sis, you don't do me like that. You right. >> Deep breath. We're going to walk outside. Okay. >> You're right. You're right. >> Why are y'all arresting me? >> I'll explain it outside. Okay. >> Okay. Please don't arrest me. Please don't arrest. I was sitting here. We're going to walk outside. >> Yes. Please. Please. Can you get my Can you get these out my hand? Please, sir. Get this. >> No. You're not coming off. >> Thank you, baby. Please. Please. Oh, don't you know I'm walking cuz I haven't done anything. Go. I wasn't I respect that. But will do you they understand >> these people are just so mad because I'm being a good girl. >> The police produced concrete evidence, an explicit restraining order in her name. But instead of keeping quiet, she flew into a rage and called the authorities cowards. >> Thank you, girl. Give you bro space. >> But I didn't do anything. >> Okay. >> It scared me. >> What's wrong? >> So here's why we're here today. Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> So last night you got trespassed from here. Okay. >> Not last night. What? No, I wasn't. I was in my um apartment. >> Okay. You was trespassed from here and you knew that you were supposed to come back. >> No, I didn't. I swear. I promise. >> Did they give you Did they >> No, I promise. I promise, sir. >> Oh, so you aren't supposed to return. Okay. >> Can I finish talking? >> I'm sorry. No, cuz I'm so sorry. >> Okay. Can I finish talking now? >> All right. Thank you. So, they don't want you to come back here. You were trespassed from here and now they want to press charges. You going to jail. Okay. >> I didn't know. >> Okay. Well, they should have given you a copy. If you didn't want a copy, that's on you. >> No, I didn't. wasn't there. I don't know what happened. Okay. But right now, that's what that's where we at. >> Who said that? >> That I had trespassed. >> Okay. >> They have they have a copy of it with your full name, your birthday. They have everything. >> That is what is that is great. But I am a disabled veteran. So, I mean, this is going >> Do you have anything on here? >> No. This is >> I did not know this. >> Finally, as the police car slammed its doors shut, another charge was added to the record. But what shocked viewers was how she reacted to reality. >> Who called you? >> Stop. >> They thought I was acting. What? They did? >> They said you were back on property and you had already been trespassed. >> No, that's not right. >> I'm not trying to fight. I'm not talking. >> Why do you do that? I was in the military cops, so I don't really need you. But you already arrested me. That's not right. >> That's not right. I told you that's an additional charge of resisting. Okay. >> No, but that's this ain't right cuz I wasn't doing and I didn't give you the paperwork. >> Hang tight. You hear somebody like >> nothing's funny right now. SO I I SUGGEST YOU BE QUIET. THAT'S HOW WE GET SERIOUS. YOU DON'T COME BEHIND CLOSING IN MY PRESENCE. IT AIN'T funny stupid playing games >> 10 OF Y'ALL WHEN I CALL YOU FOOLS DON'T DO NOTHING >> TRESPASS AIN'T FUNNY AND C AND STANDING THERE IN FLORIDA BUT I DO MY TIME CUZ I AIN'T NO PUNK LIKE you >> an idiot >> Lana Nelson was arrested and charged with both trespassing and resisting arrest although she claimed to have no recollection of the restraining order valid documentation confirmed her legal status at the time of her return to the hotel. Next, a seemingly peaceful family vacation at Legoland turns into a stage for an unexpected confrontation. Hurry up before your brain. The cameras start rolling. Everyone has their own story, but only one person will leave Legoland in handcuffs. [snorts] >> Where' she go? >> Um, she took her bags and and and left. >> Um, it wasn't that long ago, but she took her bags and she left. Um, she was on the phone on FaceTime or something and I got to complaining to her like, you know, you need to get off of FaceTime. This is a family vacation. We don't want to be on FaceTime with you. You know, this this that and the third. So, she was getting upset and then and then dirty words started getting thrown and she just started saying angry things, you know, as far as uh we're weird and >> [music] >> um [ __ ] y'all, you know, I mean, just a lot of dirty [music] little words. Um so, she had the remote, what kind of took the trigger? >> Um she had the remote control in her hand. So when I went to go get the remote, I know she just smashed it. So I walked around and I said, "You know what, Brenda?" I said, "This last time that you would disrespect me, you know." So she's trying to tell her, "I'm tired of disrespecting mama. You know, this I'm tired of it." >> And don't don't really know how it all cuz I mean, it just happened so quick. They just started fighting, tried [music] to stand in the you know, break them up. And >> you could only res. >> This is a group. >> So you two were getting into [music] into an argument. How >> Well, it really wasn't an argument. I was just saying to her, "Get off at FaceTime." But she was making it more [music] than what it really was. Like, no. >> So then how' the fight happen? >> She was like, "Touch me." >> She touched I said, "Touch me." She said, "Touch me." We in each other's face. Her she touched me. So >> how did you guys get to that point? [music] cuz she wanted to keep yelling and stuff down in my face. Okay. >> Because I know I I was quiet all the way up until the point where she wanted to get in my mom's face >> and kept getting in my mama's face. [music] >> And then what happened? >> And when she got in my mama's face, I stood close to my mom like, "You not going to touch my mom. >> I got you." >> So like I said, I was defending my mom. >> So after that, she got mad at you and your face. >> The sudden confession amid tears left the entire police team speechless. But Florida law does not shed tears. >> She kept hitting my face. >> Touch me. >> Was touching each other. >> She said touch me. She touched me. Then she wanted to get in my mama's face. And did she [music] push him? I want to say she did push her cuz she pushed her into me. We failed not to be the aggressor [music] >> and I tried to be the one that called because like I told her, I got too much. >> No, I and I totally understand. However, >> [music] >> Just like as much as we hear everyone's versions, we have to hear her version of the story. You know what I mean? Okay. [music] >> That being said, if you sign this document basically waving, okay, >> whenever this goes to court, [music] they're going to take in consideration a way. They don't want to press charges and the cases are going to get dropped. >> If I got to press charges, they >> However, sadly, [music] >> Sally, there's no choice. You will have to go. >> Well, just take me. She can stay. [music] >> That's That's not >> y I I hit her first. Look, y'all could just arrest me. I get her first. >> The thing with domestic violence instead of Florida, regardless if you didn't do it or not, if an allegation is made towards you, you're going to jail. That's not made toward me. >> She's saying that you hit her. >> And I don't understand why she said that because my mama didn't hit her. I said, >> I was in her face. I hit her. I was on the phone. >> Again, I totally I totally understand your version of the story. I get it. But the state of Florida does not leave us any room for anything else. find out tonight. >> What? What? What? I mean, [music] >> you get home till Monday. >> Oh, God. Please don't call me get a flight down to come and get your police. >> Now, she's saying her. >> I'm going to tell you the truth. We're here to tell you the truth. Uh, I'm not going to We're not going to hear go around the bush like other people. We're just going to drop it how it is. Okay. >> I understand. >> All right. >> I understand. I don't want you to pass out on me now. >> I'm trying not to but tell her that she >> Mommy. She ain't touch nobody. She ain't nobody. >> She didn't. >> She did not. >> Trust me, it's going to be the reporter. We believe what you're saying. >> So we a joke. You believe the truth. >> Like we explained the state of Florida along is just a joke. >> We're used to be family. Now I have to share a cell with the man who got me arrested. [music] And that's just the beginning. >> Try not to say anything to her. Did you try to say anything to you? >> Your car. >> Yeah. >> No, I you want to do everything upstairs. >> Yeah. >> Or you want to take it with you cuz you also have luggage. So if you're not taking your luggage with you, you will have to take it to the police department. >> They're saying that if you uh well she has marks on it. So even though there also What do you want to do with your just putting like your bra? So, like I always tell, everyone have anything illegal in your cell right now. So if you go to the jail >> felony thinking I do have the video >> of the entire incident um up until I called you on video and call 911. >> That's what I mean. I mean like when you guys were before you guys were arguing and stuff up until the fight started. I have on video up in >> just one wrong click and the handcuffs suddenly fell off while the woman was being arrested. Was this an accident or an intention to escape >> here? Can't tell you can't can't go back. Can't can't do anything different now, but in the future going forward, you might be in the same cell. You might be in the same holding cell as her. It's going to be a bunch of females. She's probably going to be in there. Don't talk to each other. Stay on one side. She stays on the [music] other side. >> Just go through the process. We in there we can sit down and chitchat. >> Why you taking off? >> Take the gloves off. You take it off and get them escape. You hear me? >> Stop moving. >> They're locked. The reason why you said it comes off. >> I didn't take them off. They literally came off. >> How How' they come off? Too loose. You stick your hand out of it. >> No, this one. This one was >> Okay. And they just fell off. >> Just asking you. >> But we like So, once these get back home, I'll try to get out of the point of being charged with escape and that's a felony. >> Right now, you're charged with a misdemeanor. If you want to get charged with a felony, you got to >> spend a lot more time down here than you want to. All right. That that carries prison time. You understand that? >> In Florida, domestic violence is classified as a firstdegree misdemeanor and carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in county jail, 12 months probation, and a maximum fine of $1,000. The woman was arrested on the scene and faces a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, which could be upgraded to a felony if she continues to violate the law while in custody. She was warned to remain silent and not to contact family members in the detention center. >> I didn't assault anyone. PLEASE HELP ME. PLEASE, SOMEBODY. >> And I'm telling you that there are people who >> plane tickets can't buy wisdom. And today's problem is living proof. HELP ME. SOMEBODY, please help me. >> Let's go. Let's go. >> Some people come to the airport to fly. Some people come to clean up the riots. A canceled flight, a drink at the bar, and then everything exploded in the middle of Tampa International Airport. What makes a woman completely lose control in front [music] of the police? >> And then I'm telling you that there are people who [ __ ] >> Let's go. On December 15th, 2022, the police were called to a woman who needed help, but within minutes, things turned [music] chaotic. What did she say? And why did a wheelchair become the center of the conflict? >> And her ride is like here. >> Okay. >> So, we're trying to get her out. >> You guys need a sky? >> Yeah. Get the sky. >> Okay. >> Assistance would be great. >> Yeah. Let's get a cam for >> There you go. I'm cool with that. You guys here? >> No. >> No. Okay, we're good. >> No, >> we got somebody at >> the empty by the train. >> Oh, okay. >> What a nice guy. Are you trying to leave him? >> No. >> I'm messing with her. >> Don't get up, ma'am. I don't want you to fall down. >> No, I know. >> We're waiting for hand to give you a wheelchair ride. Oh, >> I don't want you know a wheelchair. >> No, I don't want that. She got cancelled, >> bro. No, bro. Just >> I can't hold your bag, >> bro. Whoa. Maybe. >> Yeah. >> Just do that. >> Just waiting for Dustin. Is it Dustin? >> Yeah. Is Dustin fighting for me? >> He's going to yell at you. >> Who's Yeah. >> So we can walk together. I'm not I'm not waiting for I'm not doing that. >> I am not doing that. >> She claimed to be completely sober, but her behavior said otherwise. When the police started questioning her, the truth came out and things got worse than ever. >> No one cares. You're fine. Yeah. >> Thank you so much. >> Get a hold of your boyfriend, please. >> If I have to give you a ride somewhere instead of jail, >> get a hold of your boyfriend. >> Get a hold of your boyfriend. >> Why? and get a hold of your boyfriend. >> I don't have a boyfriend. >> Who's here to pick you up? >> I don't have anyone. >> I don't have anyone. >> Literally, I don't have anyone. I don't I don't need a wheelchair. >> I'm fine. >> You do need a wheelchair because you are not going to fall on my watch. So, I need you to get a hold of somebody. You were visiting somebody here, correct? >> Get a hold of that person. Who am I speaking with? >> My boyfriend. >> Okay. Hello. Hello. Hello, this officer to the Tampa airport police. Are you here to pick up Melanie? >> Yeah. >> I'm going to bring her across. Just uh come up to us when we get there. Okay. >> Thank you. >> From the lie that no one was picking me up to tears and even screaming in the middle of the airport. How far did this woman push things before she was handcuffed? >> And you shouldn't be drunk. >> I don't know. You're in a public space >> and you should be let me alter alcohol >> and you need to know your limit >> and you need >> understand that offer. >> But I'm just saying that if you ask a question and you ask if anybody's there for you and they say no one is there for you, you should believe it. >> You'll be better. I would recommend you take the chair with you. you. >> Hey, >> no, there are people who need me, >> right? And you have me tied up and not >> and I'm telling you that there are people who >> can you take her or she's going to jail. This is causing a problem. >> You have to stop. >> Hey, what's going on? You all right? >> Hey, stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. >> No, I'm not sitting down. >> They're working. >> Get out of my face. No, you're not. >> You talk to me or what's going on? Are you her boyfriend? >> He's here to pick her up. She her flight got cancelled. >> She sat at the bar guest for a little had too much to drink and then she didn't she's unsteady on her feet. She can't walk. So, we put her in a chair. >> I think I [ __ ] realized everything I was supposed to do anything. >> One bad decision, one impulsive attitude. And now, what does she face? A seemingly simple encounter ends in a controversial arrest. >> Come on. Okay, now you're trespass. We're not issuing you official trespass. The second you stop leaving. >> I'm leaving. >> You're under arrest. I'm >> leaving. I must have been at the bar. >> I think it's [ __ ] I didn't do anything to you. >> No one said you did. >> I didn't. >> No one said you did. >> I logo. You're causing a scene and you're going to go to jail. >> I don't I don't know what part of the second you stop bleeding, you're going to jail. You don't understand. It's time to go. We'll do this. >> I know. I >> follow your boyfriend. >> Go. disorderly intoxication requires intoxication and this >> is >> Hey Jay, my car's on the air. >> My jacket around me. >> My car's on the air. Let's go. Let's go. >> You're I aming and you are hurting me. Can you please stop because Melanie >> it hurts? >> That's you. >> Okay, I'm not resisting. I'm asking you to stop because it hurts my shoulder. Please stop. >> Melody could face a number of legal consequences. Charges could include public nuisance, refusal to comply with police orders, and public intoxication. Next, what seemed like a small argument at the boarding gate turned into chaos that sent the entire airport into a tail [music] spin. What caused things to go SO FAR? >> CHOKEOLDED ME. >> MA'AM, >> WHAT THE is wrong with him? >> Calm down. Keep me down. Okay. >> NO, YOU NEED TO TALK TO HIM. HE CHOKEOLDED ME. THEY SAW IT. >> MA'AM, >> THEY SAW IT. >> MA'AM, calm down. >> LISTEN, I'M FINE. I NEED TO GET TO MY GREAT AUNT'S MEMORIAL SERVICE. I'VE been detained and held up all day. YOU CAN GO THROUGH MY BAGS. [screaming] RAISE YOUR HAND. >> When one passenger refuses to listen, things quickly spiral out of control and put security forces in a very tense situation. >> This is unexcusable. >> I've been IN HOSPITALITY FOR 40 YEARS. MA'AM, >> I've never been treated like that. >> Ma'am, no. MA'AM, >> I WANT THE MANAGER OF THE AIRPORT HERE. YOU CANNOT TREAT A PASSENGER LIKE THAT. THAT WAS ANOTHER PASSENGER THAT CHUCK HOLDED ME TO THE GROUND. >> WHERE ARE YOU trying to go? Where are you trying to go? >> YOU CANNOT TREAT SOMEONE LIKE THIS, >> MA'AM. The noise, the scuffles, and the heated accusations behind this airport riot will make you rethink power and control. >> So, she was >> I was walking up soon as I saw I only saw >> she was making a ruckus over there in front of the thing. For them, the law is only for others, not themselves. >> You were kidding me. How are y'all acting like this? >> Stop. >> However, the line between an impulsive mistake and a criminal crime is sometimes as thin as a hair with no turning back. Everything started with a seemingly harmless conversation, but just a few minutes later ended in the cold [music] sound of handcuffs. So, what really happened? >> STOP. STOP. >> GET IN THE CAR. >> On May 19th, 2024, a seemingly harmless emotional conflict quickly got out of hand and turned into a tense confrontation with the police force. >> Police, >> we're going to talk. GET IN THE CAR. >> When arriving at the scene, officers discovered the woman in a highly agitated state. And the moment she started resisting her detention, the story took a complete turn. >> How you doing? Are you the one that called? >> Yes, I did. >> Okay. Sorry for that. What is going on one step? >> I just couldn't leave. She going to scratch my car. It's a boyfriend girlfriend thing. I I didn't want to have any trouble. She get she has mental issues and I don't want to I don't think she has to go to jail, but whatever you got to do. You know what I'm saying? >> Okay. Yeah, we'll figure that out. I was just I literally the only reason why she was being detained. So I back up and she was walking away and I was coming to talk to you. I got to get both sides of the story. >> All right. Well, >> it's not worth breaking the jail. I'm going to go back inside my kids. It's just that just let it go. >> 142 143. >> The man involved said he did not want to see her arrested. He just called the police in the hope of calming the situation. But with the alcohol, her words were no longer in control. Her behavior became dangerous and unpredictable. >> What is your name? Chandler, >> my name is Austin. Love, your other rights remain silent. Do you understand these rights? And with these rights in mind, you wish to speak to me now. >> Do I need to call my lawyer right now then? >> I mean, not really. I'm just I have to ask you. I have to read you these. >> Okay. But emotions, no matter how intense, cannot be an excuse to challenge the law. >> That's a little more than just talking in the book. >> I didn't resist an officer. I didn't try to walk away. I didn't try. That's not resisting an officer, sir. Resisting an officer is literally running. I did not resist the officer. I'm >> trying to find myself. >> Just >> Come on. Look at me. If you can cooperate, I will. >> Listen. Listen. You're being charged with a check of peace and resisting an officer. >> If you can calm down and relax when you get in there, they're going to 99.9% be releasing you on a summon, which means you'll be here for maybe an hour, two at the most. But you've got to calm down. >> You made some choices tonight that were not good. And that's why you're being booked in jail right now. Okay, I'm not judging you. I don't think you're a bad person, but you know, unfortunately, I have a job I have to do. >> I know, but he's just Look at me. It's going to be okay on the code and it's code for >> just just one second. Please, please, please. >> The woman was charged with two misdemeanors, resisting officers on duty and disturbing public order. She was informed that she could be released after the summons as long as she chose to cooperate instead of resisting from now on. On to the next story. A seemingly normal afternoon at Walmart quickly turned into the scene of an arrest. >> You're gonna do what I tell you. >> Let me go. Let me go. >> Then walk. >> Don't talk to me like that. >> Walk on your own. >> You don't want me to cuss at you. You will not cuss at me. >> Yes. Please keep on because I've got an officer that's in my family that's on his way. >> Cool. >> And I he can tell you that you won't talk to me like that. >> And you're not going to keep swinging me around. >> Then walk. >> I'm walking. You're ping my arm. that particularly with brother I'm not glasses rather >> if you feel that you take off in the jail >> I'm not >> that's funny >> let myself go >> you're under arrest >> it's pinching me >> sit down >> you going to use me you might do it to everybody else you will not >> you're going to do what I can tell You >> let me go. Do you have anything on you? >> Let me go. >> No, you're going. Yes or no? >> I'm not going anywhere until I talk to my hotel. >> Instead of using the main exit, she chose a risky exit, but not sophisticated enough to bypass the security system. Officers arrived just in time and stopped her before leaving the area >> cuz I'm sure they want to talk to you as well. And then you can talk to them as well cuz they're the ones pro. Can I miss um if you and my if you let me see my phone I can see she's already left >> so she didn't come >> she drove a separate car she was >> okay so she is okay to be by herself >> I just want to make sure she's not out there waiting on me >> okay >> because she met me up stopped here before >> if you want to have a seat stop for shoplifting you guys want to have a seat >> um I had a situation like 5 years ago where I had some people with me and we can't here but it was sort of >> Oh yes ma'am I knew that name was familiar. You dealt with me last time as well. You've lost a lot of weight since then. >> I know I'm the one who stopped there prosecuted. >> I understand but it was it was thrown out. I didn't have to go to jail or anything like that because of the circumstances. If you remember correctly, there was a group of people with me and the older lady that was in that was in here was able to prove that it was the um younger adult back then. We had to go to court if I believe I remember correctly. My dad never showed up. >> No, you look in a handcuff. >> Could you hand me my please? >> No. So EMS just pulled up. They're going to come in and check on you. Make sure you're okay. Okay. >> So first she pushes the lever in. She stands there for a minute. >> Oh, you saw her face. >> Yeah, she got sick. >> Yeah. >> No, I didn't. You can see what I'm doing. I'm licking my lips. >> Okay. >> I went to the tanning bed. My lips are chapped. And then she swapped over that. >> But if you pay attention, I just pulled the cart there. >> Pull the cart. >> The door open. >> That's when she >> What were you going to do after that? I seen him right there. >> If he wouldn't have come, what were we going to do? >> I was going to go right to the front and pay. I have, if you look at my wallet right now, I have the money to pay for it. >> But she said that she didn't pull the card out the door at all. She gets the card fully out before he approaches her. >> We're under arrest for felony, shoplifting, and obstruction. Okay. >> Look, you lied to me. You tried to argue with me. You tried to fight everybody here. You you you didn't try and fight me physically, granted, but you are. >> Instead of cooperating, the woman started making excuses, but security cameras don't lie. And this time, excuses couldn't save her from prosecution. >> If there's anything I can do, let me do come up here and work for you for free to do community service. But my >> ma'am, I'm going to be honest with you, and I'm not trying to be rude, but I wouldn't trust you to work here. >> I understand, but there's got to be something else that we can do. This is your second offense at this store. Ma'am, you've been caught here before. >> But my the first one that you're referring to, I didn't have to go to court or anything because it wasn't the lady that was in here with you determined it was the others they were charged for. >> Ma'am, you're the one in the system. There's no others in the system. It's just you. >> I'm just asking you is please, is there something else we can do? >> Ma'am, I I can't. If I give you a break, I have to give everybody else a break and I I can't do that. >> My next my next question is, are your children here or child? Cuz that's why we came back. You told me you had children here. >> I don't I don't know. She's already left. >> Okay. But she has her own car and she can't find you. She's adult enough to get in her car and drive to wherever she's going to go. It's not a juvenile child. I don't want to leave like a 10-year-old here. >> No, but they are um >> So, do you have younger children other than the 16-year-old at home? >> Uh-huh. >> What's your address? >> 925. 925. What? If you don't tell me the address, I'm going to charge you with the children cuz I got to make sure your children are okay. >> Alan Road, but her sister's with her. My daughters. >> So, there is people that take care of her. >> Well, the 16-year-old, but by Madison County guidelines. >> Okay. So, what's the address that they are at or going to be at tonight cuz you're not going to be out of jail until Tuesday. >> The police even realized that she had been involved in a petty theft right at this Walmart 5 years ago. She confirmed that the charges were then dismissed, but Walmart did not forget and decided to prosecute to the end >> for doing a lot less than this. I had one earlier today that was a little over $40 when they got locked up. So, if I lock them up, I have to lock you up. >> I've never It's fairness and consistency. If I'm not fair and consistent, then I lose my job. And I'm not losing my job for anybody. Anybody. >> Is there anything that we talked about today to lock me up? Please I'll never show my face on here again. I ma'am I understand that you're concerned about losing your career but what you don't understand is that if I cut you a break and I let you go I lose my career and that's how I support my family >> and I have to support my family >> my family I'm sorry >> for that I gave you notified right now that you restricted from Walmart property for at least you cannot enter any or you will be arrested for tresass >> we are done with her >> yeah she's good to Okay. >> Come on. I do. >> With all my stuff not in a bag. Uh-huh. But that's just my opinion. But it it really doesn't matter what my opinion is. Walmart's prosecuting. So whether I think you did it or not is irrelevant. >> I'm going to call my dad. >> You will have a chance to use the phone in here. >> No, not anymore. But she did. We had a little wrestling match in Oh my goodness. >> You guys can see that. Um >> if it's a copperhead, I do. I mean, >> it's got the >> Looks like it. I didn't do anything wrong. >> Okay. >> Like that's what you're not getting. [music] For what? I didn't do anything wrong. Off. >> Well, first of all, you don't even have a driver's license. That would be the first thing you did wrong. Then we probably can keep going from there. >> You're under arrest for obstruction right now. So, I'm going to search you. >> I didn't do anything wrong. Like, I there [music] was no hit and run. I swear to God. Why are you looking at me like that? >> Cuz everything you basically [music] told me was a lie. >> It wasn't a lie. >> I'm sorry. It was. >> Upon locating her vehicle, police discovered a large dent that matched witness descriptions of the crash. Despite the clear evidence, Heather immediately lied about her identity [music] and denied any involvement. Rather than cooperating, she attempted to leave the scene, prompting officers to restrain and handcuff her. >> So, you don't remember hitting a vehicle or what? >> Who is this to you? A friend or >> She's a client. >> Okay. So, you're like a caretaker for a company or what? Okay. And what was the job today? To pick her up and bring her around or >> Yep. I have no idea. >> Okay. >> So, why are you still here then? >> Cuz I still have her as a client. >> Okay. Like you are with her for the day or what? >> Um, no, until 11. >> Okay. So, what time did you get here with Tammy today? >> Okay. Is that pretty normal? Mhm. >> Okay. Today. Okay. And part of that is going to get groceries from Walmart. I help her shop, do whatever I have to do. You leave. >> That's why I'm saying like it doesn't make it. >> Okay. >> You'd think I would know. >> So, you bring her back here and then you're with her till 11. >> Yep. >> So, you're outside having a smoke. Is that right? Okay. What do you do after 11:00? Do you go to another client? Okay. Do you know what time it is right now? >> Yeah, it's just about 11. I have to go to the next one. >> Okay. So, you think it's just before 11:00? It's after It's after noon. Oh, I have to go to the next one by noon. >> Okay. Well, you're still late. You said 11:00. You were late at 11:00. You said noon. You're late again. >> Provide a preliminary breath sample. >> No. >> Okay. Would you like to perform field sobriety tests? >> This is my workplace. >> I can do I'm not >> This is the place we are right now. >> Okay. Well, [music] go up the block and I'll do it. >> I'm not going to do a field. Like, do you want me to complain? Like, >> well, I think the names you were calling your clients and how you were acting right now is probably not going to look good for your job anyway. [music] Obviously, if she thinks that I'm drinking, I have a breathalyzer. >> Okay. >> A handheld breathalyzer I have to do at 7:00. Do you think I'm drunk? Like, really? >> I would like you to submit to a preliminary breath test right now. >> So, I'm done with your guys' little tricks. I'll blow at 3:00. >> Okay. Go ahead and sit back. I reckon I'm going to put your seat belt on here [music] >> again. >> You want your purse out of the car and your car locked up? >> Yep. I have to blow at three. >> Right. >> So, we need to make that official. >> Where's your machine? In your car? At home or what? >> No, it's at home. >> Ultimately, Heather faced a series of serious charges, including resisting arrest, obstructing justice, and fleeing the scene of an accident. These offenses not only carried the potential for jail time and heavy fines, but also left a permanent mark on [music] her criminal record. If further evidence proved that she had been driving under the influence, [music] her legal penalties would increase significantly. This case underscores the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions and cooperating with law enforcement. Lying to the police, resisting arrest, and obstructing an investigation only lead to additional charges and harsher penalties. What are your thoughts on this situation?
