my name is Quinton Johnson born and raised here 10 months ago I was in denial is where I was I was using every single day I thought my behavior was uh normal but come to find out it's it's not it's terrible so I'm actually glad that I'm here so I can change all of that my name is Teresa Fuller and I am the director over re-entry services for the penel county sheriff's office essentially what my staff do is they meet with IND idual who are in custody in the gel and complete a screening and assessment with them to identify what services they may need connectivity to that will help ease their transition into the community and increase probability for Success when she came you know she said that she's going to help me you know I was like all right yeah I'm I'm I'm hopeful but that's the same old story that we hear people say they're going to help and nine times out of out of 10 they uh don't my name is Derek Johnson and and I run all of the operations at John Vulcan Academy I uh played college football and graduated with a a bachelor's degree in an addiction to pain mats and for about 10 years of my life my life was a roller coaster ride everybody that's here that runs this place the majority of them have been to jail and 100% of them used to use drugs 100% so all the all the games that you may want to play you think you're going to come in and you you know everything's going be cool you going to sneak something in and all of that no it's not going to happen but if you come willing to change then they're they're here for you get up every morning shave shower brush their teeth um they hit the floor um we eat breakfast in the morning have a morning meeting and then they're out to their responsibilities there's a lot of different things here you know and I just I just want to I just want to learn it all and then after after the program I just want to build things this cost panal County taxpayers $0 we're actually saving them money the one thing that is constant is time right there is no substitute for time I was looking at doing about 15 years in prison and I saw a flyer on the wall that said hey here's a 2-year program two years um not enough time I want to do more time two if I can turn two in 10 I would definitely do it here I mean it's just it's just different man it's a great feeling just to wake wake up and see this View and then when the sun come comes up man it's it is awesome man it's awesome wouldn't change it to see somebody so quickly um get on such a good path it's makes you feel really complete if you want to get clean this is the place to be if you want to change your life life this is the place to be I'm feeling great feeling good I feel like I can conquer anything right about [Music] now
