His name's Carlos. >> Carlos. >> I mean, I've known him for a week, so maybe I haven't known him long enough. I know he's lying because it's like I have OCD and I've looked everywhere in my exact Why are you still >> I think that's failure to appear. Failure to appear. >> I was told about that and they rescheduled it. On November 17th, 2023 in Florida, a woman contacted 911 to report [music] the theft of marijuana from her home. The police quickly responded to gather more information. >> Hi, good. How you doing? >> I had a friend come by who was just a friend, but um I've never had this happen to me. I have a med guard and I smoke at night cuz I have trouble sleeping. But he took my weed and left. >> I looked everywhere. >> Who is it? >> His name's Carlos. >> Carlos? >> I mean, I've known him for a week, so maybe I haven't known him long enough. >> Where is he? Do you know where he lives? Does he stay around here? >> He said he's moving soon, so I don't know. >> Yeah. Um, we met through a program, >> multiple friends. So, that's >> Do you have like his name or address or anything where he lives? >> Number >> phone number. >> It's just I find it odd that like I mean that's $30 that I spent and you just stole it out of my pocket. >> $30 a month. >> I have a card. So, from a dispensary. >> Yeah, that's >> And your license. >> I know I short hair but >> that's okay. a lot. >> He didn't say he didn't. He just said >> No, I just said your license. >> You thought I was a sir. >> No, he said your license. >> He said license, too. >> I heard sir, but it's okay. >> Oh, no. You didn't say sir. >> I can assure you I didn't. >> You have to cover it up by >> The woman explained that she had a legal medical card and used marijuana at night to help her sleep. She also mentioned that the culprit could be a friend named Carlos, whom she had only known for about a week. She then proceeded to show her medical card to the police. In Florida, individuals can use marijuana for medical purposes as regulated by the Florida Medical Marijuana Gization Initiative Amendment 2. Users must have a medical card from a doctor for qualifying conditions like cancer or epilepsy. Additionally, according to Florida statute section 381.986, Mary Yana must be used in limited quantities and cannot be used in public places. But it's up until December. >> Whose golf clubs are those? Yours? Nice. Golf. >> I've been staring at him like crazy. I really need to call. >> Yeah. Honestly, I need to get going. >> 12:01. So, it's just about to expire. >> I have new prescriptions all set up. I just need to renew the card. But, you know what I mean. It's $30 of my You >> have your uh gone >> license? Your license on you? >> License. I'm getting my license tomorrow because they needed some class done of some sort. Type ID. >> Um I have my passports. >> I'm sorry. I just have never in my life had someone just literally I know he's lying because it's like I have OCD and I've looked everywhere in my exact. >> Okay. So long long story short, you had your friend Carlo was here. How how long roughly was you here? >> Well, he got food. He brought me some extra food. Very nice. But then Yeah, but then like stole my whole entire >> Where was Where was your be at? >> Um like a jar >> like right by my saws. >> Was it like a bag or jar or >> I mean I have a little grinder so it's in the grinder. >> Like a yellow grinder or something. Yeah. Like a blue grinder. >> Blue one. >> So all all the marijuana was in the grinder. >> Yeah. It was already grinded up. >> So it's like it's like kind of shakish now. >> Yeah. There's nothing in it. >> Okay. So he took all the shake out of their grinder basically. >> The woman was cooperative throughout the investigation, answering all the police's questions and allowing them to search her room. According to her, Carlos had visited her home, brought some food, and left afterward. It was then that she discovered her marijuana was missing, and called the police. >> Fine. I'm sorry about the mess. I have all my stuff in hangers, toiletries, extra clothes. I'm moving in into an apartment probably like I say two days tops. >> Very nice. >> Yeah, I'm excited, but right now it's a little messy. Um, I can give it to you and it's nowhere to be found. Like I've checked underneath the sheets. I checked like underneath the toiletry items, suitcase, bath buck. There's not much There's not a lot over here. Yeah. So, >> do you have Carlos's last name? >> I don't. Um, >> you just have his number? >> Yeah, >> that's fine. But he's he's like one of those people where like if I can explain this to you, he's like very helpful to me, but it's like when he doesn't get what he wants, he's going to take cuz he I I think he likes me and I don't like him back fully. But he took my weed and left and he's acting like he didn't take it. And I mean, for God's sake, if the kid has a [ __ ] key to my apartment, I'm a little scared. >> Yeah. Well, obviously don't do that. >> One of them was gone and I definitely think he might have took one and I'm a little bit scared again. So, I might have to go get new ones. Gotcha. >> It remains unclear whether Carlos truly exists, but according to the woman, he stole the marijuana after failing to achieve his personal goals. However, her disjointed story and obsession with the theft led the police to suspect she might be paranoid, especially after they checked her records and found some concerning details. >> Lock in the eye. >> All right. You have This is Here's your medical marijuana card back. >> Thank you. Then here's your >> I hope you understand where I'm >> All right. Well, I mean, since we're standing in here, just to make sure. Uh, do you have any weapons or anything on you? >> Oh, god no. Just my golf clubs. >> Okay. Here's your passport back. >> [ __ ] ton of toiletries and some clothes. I need to definitely get a hang off. >> I'm not going to search you or anything. All right. Well, Lily, you have a open warrant out of Palm Beach County where I just ran your name. So, you're being arrested right now. Okay. >> An open warrant? >> Yep. Failure thing was >> failure to appear. fail to appear. >> I was told about that and they rescheduled it. >> All right. Well, it's it's open right now. So, >> show up. >> Well, it's right now you you I just confirmed it, too. And you have it's open right now. >> Well, why was I told that I don't need to do that? >> I pick that up later, but right now you got an open warrant. All right. You got nothing on you, right? Is there anything you want to take? You want to take the phone, your passport? >> Can I go to the bathroom real quick? >> No. >> Go. Can I ask? >> I just told you you have a warrant open out of West Palm Beach. All right. He just told you what it was for. >> That's fine. And we were going to help you out until we found out you still warrant. I was told by my [ __ ] public defender that >> So, do you want to take your phone and your passport? Hear me out. >> It's not going to change the warrant. It's still active. Okay. >> It turned out that the woman had an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court in Palm Beach County. Although she seemed surprised and explained that her public defender had informed her she didn't need to attend that hearing, the police proceeded with their duty. Police have the authority to arrest a person if they discover an active warrant against them. This authority applies nationwide under federal and various state laws. According to the Fourth Amendment, if a valid warrant is issued by a judge or court, the police have the right to arrest the person named in the warrant. In Florida, under Florida Statutes Chapter 9001, an officer can arrest a person with an outstanding warrant without needing a new warrant as long as the original warrant is still active. >> No, you're not. >> All right, but why are you stopping? >> Because I'm trying to figure out something. >> You can figure it out the jail. Do you want your phone and your passport or no? >> Yeah, but we might be able to figure out >> You want that to go with you? >> Yeah. >> All right. So, grab her passport. >> Can I ask her a quick question before the door? I'm not checking you out. >> I have a public defender. I've been working. >> Can I please continue to talk? >> You can keep talking while we walk though. >> That's not fair. >> He's giving you every opportunity. >> Can you give me a second, please? We got to Yeah, you are. >> You need to stop. >> I'm not relax. >> You need to stop. >> Relax. >> I am relaxing. >> I just I tried to give you your phone. >> All right, that's fine. >> Come on. Let's go. >> He's giving you texting up and everything. >> I'm trying to get some shoes. I just asked you if you want to choose and you want to keep pushing against me. Now the door is locked. Door's locked. Door's closed. >> Enough patience. I'm just public defender. And she said I didn't need to be at that. >> Like I told you. >> I'm confused. >> It's my turn to talk. Okay. >> Okay. I'm hearing you. >> Like I told you, we need to keep moving along. All you can talk. When we get to the jail, you can call the public defender and if it's all cleared up, then you'll be gone. But right now, we have an open warrant for you because we don't have anything to do with Palm Beach County. But if it's told that it's open and we confirm it, then we have to take you to jail. If everything's clear and they made a mistake, that's on them, not on us. Okay? So, we have to go. >> The police decided to arrest her according to the warrant. And when she resisted and repeatedly questioned them, the officers had to explain the situation. She was also informed that she would be allowed to contact a lawyer and address the matter in jail. I commend the officer for patiently explaining everything and performing his duty responsibly. >> Can I ask why my public defender said I didn't need to be a public? I have no clue. >> I'm not finished talking. >> He's talking while we go. >> All right. I see you. >> The door's locked. We don't have a key now. >> Listen to me. If you keep tensing up and you keep trying to stop, then there could be additional charges. Why do we want to do additional charges? >> There could be. >> No, cuz when I'm telling you to listen to me, you're not. She was taken to jail to resolve the warrant, but the actual charges against her remain unclear. Whether Carlos truly stole her marijuana is also an open question. If you have any additional information about this situation or Carlos, please share it with us in the comments below. >> Get your hands behind your back. >> Get your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> YOU GOT ANY OTHER weapons on you besid >> Oh, no. This is my mom. >> A woman gets angry about not getting free stuff at Walmart and her reaction will shock you. >> I am a pregnant woman. [screaming] >> If y'all want to take a walk, a look at my house. My house don't smell like no dog. It's nothing to do with no dog. There's nothing in my house about no dog. She thought she could bypass the selfch checkout system, but she didn't expect the consequences at the service counter. Woman walked back into Walmart as if [music] she had done nothing wrong. But what she did at the service counter shocked everyone. >> Hi. >> Hey. >> Hey, we got to talk to you. >> No, you don't. >> Don't walk with me like that because you don't know me. We don't got no problem. I just got done exchanging everything. They got everything together. This was paid for under. >> Okay. So, what's the misunderstanding? >> Cuz he said I under wrong, but they can't find these shorts. Like I told him, I paid for everything under spent. $500 a year. >> $250 in one line and 200 another line. He said I under wrong, but how did I underr so I paid for everything else full price besides two joggers? Get the out of here. And I'm telling you the same thing I told him. I don't play no games. I got a ticket son. He watched everything. He said that clearly I underline that but I didn't. Everything is there. >> These shorts are she was using right like some sweatshirt and stuff like that. So that's why she doesn't have any $10 ticket >> and that's what I was talking about. She's saying I mean she's she has like the actual other ticket in her hand. She's like putting it in front of the thing scanning it. This is doing it. So >> okay. So, did she take early? She tried taking out. >> Oh, I guess the things that she was trying to do. >> So, it came out to about 80 something, I think. >> Do you have that uh receipt? >> Yeah. Do we? Yeah. >> Well, it sounds like you didn't actually >> The moment the police took action. Everything exploded with shouts, harsh words, and a shocking statement. Today is my child's birthday. >> My shorts. >> And this is what I'm telling him. did have one pair of shorts worth $5. They're in there on the counter. The other pair was army for tea. They were over there on the counter. Everything I did this lady is over there. All the receipts, the the lounger, everything, everything is over there. Every single thing. >> So, how did how did four or five different shorts here? >> Because for one, you're missing this is a totally different practice. These are all things they're supposed to be on clearance, I guess. So, these are all things that I grabbed out of the store. So that's what they rung up as. And like I told him, I got all the items right there. So if it rung up, you see I run it plain as day. Every single item, everyone. But I'm not going to let you see what I'm saying. So all I'm saying, all you have to do is come in. >> I wasn't even call I'm not I have nothing to hide. >> Um we are going to have to take you into custody. You crazy as for what? >> So you came for the mism. >> Hold on. Wait. Hold on. Wait. Stop. Don't grab me. Hold on. Wait. I'm not I'm not fighting. >> Don't fight with me. You don't got to do all this. your thing. >> Please stop. >> You are under arrest. >> I understand that. But please stop. >> Stop fighting with us. >> I'm not fighting. I'm just telling you. >> I don't have a problem with that. >> I don't got no problem on your stomach. >> Oh, I don't got no problem with that at all. But y'all not going to just man handle me like this for no reason. It's my BABY'S BIRTHDAY. Y'ALL SICK AS a [ __ ] for this. And I mean sick as >> hell no. You didn't have to punch me. You didn't have to knee me because I wasn't resistant. You had no right to put your hands on me. None whatsoever, Miss Lady, because I wasn't resistant. I didn't lay on my sto because I was pregnant. When you told me to slide down, I slid down. >> Hey, for everything. Everything. That's their fault. That's their fault in letting me keep that lower abdomen there. >> Hey, I was standing up on her way back to >> y'all did all this [ __ ] >> Let's have a lower abdomen. I paid for everything I came in this THIS WEEK WITH $500. >> Was charged with retail [music] theft by price gouging, resisting a law enforcement officer, [music] attempting to disarm an officer. Bail was set at $2,500. Due to her prior convictions, she was sentenced [music] to 10 months in prison and 3 years probation. Next, she only asked a relative to look after the dog for a few days, but unexpectedly her return was the beginning of a dead-end legal confrontation. >> For me, this is her sister. They they're my kids side of the family. So, she came to my house and she did my kids hair like she retwisted their hair and then I paid her to basically watch my dog for me for a couple days while I went out of town for a family emergency to Orlando. When I came back, she already knew I was coming to pick the dog up. So, when I told her, "Hey, you home? I'm coming to get the dog." She was like, "Oh, you're not getting your dog back." Like, "The dog's gone." Like, >> she sold the dog. >> She was like, "I'm keeping the dog." >> So now she's just [snorts] giving me all this runaround. Like, so basically, she like sold my dog by the dog. >> Is she here? >> I don't know. >> Yeah, she in there. >> Not trying to ass police. >> I can hear you in there. West Palm Beach Police. How do you nobody get the search warrant to go in there? >> You're not getting a search warrant for a dog, man. >> A dog is like a child. >> A dog is not a child. Dog is an animal. >> A family member. >> All right. So, tell me what happened. >> Okay. So, she came over to do my son's hair. I asked her, "Can she do their hair?" Cuz she retwists. That's like her little side gig. She came over. I told her that I had a family emergency going on in Orlando. >> And I was kind of making a joke about it cuz the dog was at my house barking. So I was say, "Kira, you want to watch your dog for me for a couple days?" And she was like, "Yeah, who are you talking about? Dior or Christian?" I said, "Dior." And she was like, "Yeah, [ __ ] I need I live by myself. I need somebody to keep me company." So I was like, "For real? Are you serious? Cuz I'll give you some money." Gave her $160. I bought We went to Publix. I bought the the biggest bag of dog food because they needed dog food anyways. So I bought the the biggest bag of dog food. I bought water of uh bottles of water cuz I told her I was like, "I give my dog like the good [ __ ] I don't just give them tap water and stuff [music] like that." So, we went to Publix, got all that stuff. >> The door opened. The woman faced the police with a smile. But immediately after, a series of contradictory statements left everyone bewildered. >> As a fool yesterday, >> you called me yesterday, >> huh? >> You called me yesterday. >> Called you yesterday. Was your boy yesterday? >> I wasn't here yesterday. >> You wasn't here yesterday? >> Okay. All right. You mind talking to me real quick? >> Yes. >> All right. >> Well, I'm just I mean, I mind talking to you. I'm not going to run to nothing. >> No, I'm saying I'm saying you >> I just I just letting you know that I'm um order the Uber thing. >> Order what Uber thing? >> The little um circuit car thing. So, I don't know when I'm going to pull up. >> All right. So, Miss Green, do you know why I'm here? >> Um for the dog. >> Okay. What dog? >> Um Tiffany dog. >> Tiffany dog. What What's going on with Tiffany dog? >> She gave me a dog last month. >> Okay. >> She gave me um a Frenchie dog last month. >> Okay. >> She literally gave it to She picked me up. She live waiting lot to me. So I'm doing my nephew's hair. She had the two dogs in there or whatever. The dog was barking really bad, which that's not the problem of this cancer or whatever. Well, the dog was barking really bad. So when she came back home, she was like, "Kira, do you want a dog?" And I was like, "Yeah, I want a dog." But you know, I can't have a dog because I'm literally on housing. For real. I'm I'm on housing. I've been here for 4 year. I've been here for 4 years. >> She gave me the dog and the whole the whole ride here from Lashahiashi to back here. She was like, "Um, yeah, girl. I'm getting tired of this MFN dog. I don't want this beat." She was calling a dog a beat. I don't want this beat. That's all she do is bark and s up my house like poop around her house. So, I was just like, "Um, okay, cool." Cuz my landlord's son live right in I promise to God I told her this. Um, officer, I don't know your name, but >> Officer Bell. >> Officer Bell. I'm on housing. My landlord son live right next door to me. I don't have a dog. >> Religion, tap water, and even fake necklaces. Suspect uses emotional tricks to avoid arrest, but will they work? >> She went to a trip. She came back before she came back. I let her know that the dog ran away. I don't know what's going on. She think I sold the dog and everything. But I got friends that's helped me with everything. I don't have If y'all want to take a walk a look in my house. My house don't smell like no dog. It's nothing to do with no dog. It's nothing in my house about no dog. I don't know. I have a fake necklace on my neck. I don't know what's wrong with her, but they on drugs and they keep bothering me. I'm in this church, sir. >> Literally, I go to church every Sunday. On my way to church right now, if if I'm able to go to the church because I help them with the um with the pantry every Thursday. I'm the secretary of the Sunday school. I'm literally with I'm literally with Christ, sir. Like in real life, I'm with the Christ. And they trying to they messing with my mental. >> Like I'm not calling these lady. I'm not I can't get nobody to have a car. Mhm. >> Like I'm not messing with these girls or nothing. And the the other one is my blood ass sister. Excuse my language. >> Tequita is my sister. >> Is [music] your sister? >> My blood sister. >> She is the one that started all this because there she's on drugs. >> And she's been like this and with me all my life, like all our life. I'm going to be 37 next Saturday. >> Mhm. >> Everything that she know that's good that's going on with me. She starts with me all the time. And that's the honest to God truth. I'm going to be 30. Something that my sister is telling her, sir. That's the god on the truth. My sister is the root of all of this. >> So what? Um so you [music] said she did give you the dog cuz she was tired of it. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. What color was the dog? >> Um it was gray. I think it was like Yeah. Gray. >> It was gray. >> It was Was it in the other color? You said it was a French. >> Mhm. It was just gray. I don't know if it was had a color underneath or what? Cuz I never like turned it over. So I don't know if it was like a different color, but I know it was gray. >> Okay. Um and you said she call you the inevitable outcome. The handcuffs were reattached amid lamentations and the name Jesus was still mentioned in tears. >> The time when she picked me up, she mentioned the dog and that was um June 10th cuz my nephew my other nephew >> Yes. Because my other nephew birthday is June 11th. >> So I did his on his birthday. She never she mentioned the dog. She just said she had to get him shot, give her shots or something, but she never even tried to come upstairs and look for the dog or nothing cuz the dog was upstairs at the time. But the dog just ran away and I told Tiffany that I don't know why they starting this big old commotion. I don't have any money but the money that's in my wallet and that's like $11. I don't know what's going I don't got no bank account or nothing. It's nothing in my house brand new but the AC and the um the landlord just gave me that AC because my AC went out. >> So did you ever text her and tell her um that you wanted to keep the dog? >> She already had already gave us it was a lot of text messages. It was a lot of text messages. But after she start threatening me, after they start being with the crazy stuff, I delete that stuff out my phone. I'm in a church. I cannot be doing all that, sir. They they want to bring this stuff to my church on Sunday and everything. Like, I cannot be doing all that. Like, I'm literally in the church. I just got saved. And it's just like since I got saved, it they just been effing with me the whole time. And I'm getting agitated. And I'm sorry for like if I have attitude, but you >> I don't know what's all of this is about. >> I have all of my neighborly people see me every day. They don't hear no dog. They don't see no dogs. Everybody around here, these ladies that have been to my boyfriend's job is honest to God, >> I don't know what they told you or y'all. I don't know. But yesterday, they went on to my boyfriend job. He don't have nothing to do with this. >> Mhm. >> He don't even know them. >> Who is your boyfriend? >> His name is Emanuel. But they went to I'm so sorry. >> You got any other weapons on your side? >> Oh, no. This this put your hand. >> You can leave, sir. Can I can I please have somebody come and get my key for my house? >> No, I'll go with you. That's the best place. Best place for put you in two cups. All right. So, it's easier for you. >> In Florida, theft of a thirdderee felony worth $750. $19,9990 is punishable by up to 5 years probation. with five years probation up to $5,000 zero cents. She faces charges of grand theft of up to $5,000. Zero cents. She was handcuffed, [music] read, and taken away, opening the door to a legal process that could include criminal charges. >> I just said, >> how much? One, two, three, four, five. Yes. I just remember me drinking a drink. >> A tense arrest spiraled out of control when the suspect's mother rushed onto the scene and attacked police. >> Rush for battery. >> Yep. Yep. >> Did you have any shots or anything? Did you have any beers? >> I was just like I was just chilling. >> Seeing her son handcuffed, the mother couldn't keep calm. And what she did next made things [music] much worse. A woman suddenly pushed past a line of patrol cars approaching the scene of the arrest. But what happened [music] next sent all the officers into immediate action. >> Back up, guys. Back up. Back up. Hey, I'm giving you a lawful order to back up. >> You want to go TO JAIL? BACK UP. >> Back up. >> Back up. Back up. Let me get the kids. Back up. I can't get my kids. Back up. Back up. Get your hands off. You're stepping on my back. >> I just rush your battery. >> Yep. He took off um after all the units went down towards Edgemore and he ran behind the apartment building. So we lost visual of him. >> Hey, listen. Listen to me. Listen to me. >> Erica, listen to me.
