I'm I'm here because there's been an allegation that you struck somebody with your elbow in the side of their head when you got to their ear to the side of their head. >> Just one Karen's refusal sent the entire flight into instant chaos. >> They said, "Oh, you want to it's going to explode." >> That you elbowed him in the side of his head >> intentionally. Yes. >> What seemed like a minor argument ended in a full-blown security nightmare. What seemed like a simple request on the plane. But this woman's defiant attitude pushed the entire flight into a nightmare. >> Hey there. >> Uh the one in four on the left hand side. >> Four on the left hand side. >> Y. >> Excuse me, ma'am. Hey, I need you to get up and come with me. >> Why? >> Because you're not going to be on this flight. So, I need you to get up and come with me. Okay. >> Do what? >> Give me a reason. >> Because you're not allowed on this flight, >> please. >> They're not letting you on this flight. That's my reason. So, you're not allowed to be on this flight now. Come on. So, we can do this two ways. I You can come off this flight with me or >> cuz I asked they want some food. >> Okay. I'm not going to talk about it with you here. You can come off the flight with me or I can clear everybody out and then I can drag you off the plane. >> You clear everybody out. >> Okay. >> Nobody. Can you come down here, please? >> So, she's obviously not going to come willingly here. >> Yep. Um, so we're probably going to have to remove her off a plane. Do you want to clear out the area or >> It is your choice. We will leave it completely up to you. Where are you more comfortable? Cuz my my worry is that if she starts, you know, don't fly right, going to hit somebody else. Uhhuh. So, if we could just kind of clear the first four rows, the first four, and then maybe the couple behind in case she like flings something back. Yep. >> Absolutely. Absolutely. >> All right. >> Just one sentence echoed through the cabin. The atmosphere instantly froze and every passenger knew things had gone too far. >> I'm making it out of Nashville today. Like, >> oh, messed up. >> Sorry we had to do this to you guys. I just don't want anybody getting hit by anything if she starts swinging or something, you know. >> She just yelled out, "I actually have a bomb, so no one going anywhere." >> Cool. All right, perfect. >> All right, let's go. >> Oh, and they said, "Oh, you want to? It's going to explode. >> Let's go. We're We're not going to jump like that. >> It's going to explode. Oh. Oh, it's going to explode right there. Hands behind your back. Thank you. Huh? Yeah. She said she had a problem on the plan today. Oh, that was fantastic. That's just another charge. Good job, lady. >> From an argument to handcuffs in just seconds, the woman continued to resist, inadvertently piling even more trouble onto herself. >> Get off. No, the bomb is still there. >> I promise God. >> Just keep making it worse. Take this. Hey, Jordan's pulled up sick. You can get her I'm going to grab her legs cuz she's going to pull us both off of this. She can get her torso. >> How could this wall? >> No, you've already proven you can't. >> Really? Stop hooking your feet. >> Your feet are >> here. I'll go here. Let me get on that side and I can help you. >> Yo, >> you want me to act right? >> So, let's go ahead now. Hand off. I think that's okay. >> Jordan, you need a hand down there. You good? >> I'm acting world. You got a huddle. Sit down here. >> Sit down. >> 2 hours of chaos ended with a bail amount that stunned many. The price of a moment of lost control has never been cheap. >> We're going to have to pull our legs back out. >> This time what we do, I do it. >> We've already told you what to do multiple times. >> I'm done playing with you. Where's the oxygen? >> Who's the medlin? >> Medlin. God. Yeah. So, we get the first four rows undone, but we don't get anybody from behind her. >> Yeah. Flight attendant comes out and like, "Yeah, she said nobody's going anywhere. She has a [ __ ] Oh, dude. Like, now she's now she's coming off the plane. I know she's full of crap, but yeah. She said stupid things and now we have more work to do. Everybody needs to go back to the gate area. >> Were you asking questions? >> Count my money. >> Do what? >> Let me ask you. >> Yeah, we're going to count your money. All right. >> Together. >> Together. >> All >> we're going to count it right up here on the way down to jail. Okay. Do you have anything on you? Do you have anything on you? Any weapons, any drugs, anything like that? Okay. >> I need to make sure my mothers get done. >> Dispatch, go ahead and get a metro number for public inox to start and then we'll and I mean false reporting and then heaven forbid if it's not a false report then we'll go from there. >> Yeah. >> Okay. The woman was charged with multiple [music] offenses, including making a false bomb threat, a felony, disorderly conduct, resisting an officer, and public intoxication. Bail was set at $31,000. Zero sense. Up next, just a seemingly routine night flight, but a few drinks and one small action turned the cabin into a scene of trouble. How are y'all? >> Good. Yeah, we got a intoxicated passenger at 41 Bravo. Okay. Um, hit a passenger that was sitting right in front of her. >> When you say hit, what do you mean? Like >> that's what the gentleman claimed. He uh was seated right in front of her and said it was in the elbow, hand. Um, >> do you know do you know were there were there any altercations throughout the flight with her or anything like that? No. >> And after she left to tell us about him that he was causing trouble and >> I said to him, I said, "How much does she have to drink?" Cuz I could tell she was >> a little bit drunk. And then we had a short conversation and then that's when it escalated. >> Was there any flight eruption or anything like that? Flights? >> No. Okay. No, but when she gave her cup away, >> it was just Starbucks that had the lime and it smells like >> so she came on board during the catch that >> I don't know if you need to >> No. >> Okay. Well, do we want to go ahead and get her off the place? >> Yeah, she's in the last row on your right, 41D. Um I know the gentleman does want to claim charges, stress charges against her. No, and that's what I advised him that he's got to talk to you. >> He's right beside her. >> No, he's in Yeah, we moved her to the last row on 41. He's in row 11 D and E is husband and wife. >> Can we go ahead and get him off right now? >> Yeah. Okay, go ahead. >> When the plane touched down, it was far from over. Police arrived and conflicting statements began to reveal something no one expected. She kept reaching out and touching me and giving me [ __ ] >> which I would have let go. >> Okay. >> You know, if a man did that to a woman, >> right? All right. >> But she's reaching out, touching me, giving me [ __ ] And then when she finally gets up to go to the bathroom, she takes her elbow and just bashes me in the side of the head. And I'm like, "What the hell?" She goes, "Well, you're on Frontier Airlines. Steel." >> I'm like, "Seriously?" And then she goes to the flight attendants and tells them that we've been screaming at her. >> Yes. And she said, "Is that your husband?" in and pointed at him. And I said, "No." And she said, "Good, because he got into it with my aunt and he was a jerk. He's a jerk." And I go, "I don't know anything about that." >> Who's your aunt? >> Some drunk lady that was trying to sit [laughter] my feet before I came. Apparently, it's not her aunt. She doesn't like me. >> And then I put my headphones on and she kept hitting me over. She's like, "Why are they giving us drinks? You need to tell me when the drink cart's coming." I go, "No one has drinks. Everybody has drinks but us." I said, "Nobody has drinks. They haven't come with the drinks yet." And she ordered two drinks, which she got both of them and drank them. Then she's bugging him the whole time on the other side. I'm trying to ignore her. She also said something disgusting to you about your wife who's also on the plane. >> Are you all traveling together? >> We're together and they're both Well, your wife's >> My husband's on the back of the plane. His wife's on the front of the plane. My kids are right next to me. >> So all y'all witness her hitting him in the head with this. >> So here's what happened. She hit me and I said, "Please stop hitting me." And she said, "I have to go to the bathroom. What do you want me to do to crawl over you?" and she was kind of aggressive with me and I said, "Then just ask me to get up because she's hit me several times before." And I was like, "Just leave me alone." Like, >> the woman repeatedly made frantic phone calls and refused to cooperate. Her right to remain silent was read and the atmosphere grew heavy. >> All right. >> Um, hold on. I just wanted to go this way. Like my ears. >> No, my dad needs to be on the >> What? What is that in your hand? My god, my >> You just want to like throw it in your bag or something like that or they may have a piece of tissue or something. >> Why am I being treated like I'm the victim? I was going to be the whole queen knows it. I >> look, can we walk into >> Let me let me Are you on phone? >> What? Can my dad talk attorney? Well, >> are you an adult? >> Hello. >> I'll speak to you. I'm not speaking to whoever's on the phone. I don't know who that is on the phone. Okay. So, look, I'm also frame with the airport police. I'm I'm here because there's been an allegation that you struck somebody with your elbow in the side of their head when you got up. Okay. >> Yeah. >> You said elbow to their >> to their ear to the side of their head. >> That sounds like a backwards like you'd be moving forwards towards the bathroom, which is the only time I got up. >> Okay. Um Yeah. Yeah. Here. Miranda Clark. >> Can we go somewhere? Dad, what do I do? This guy is trying to accuse me of some like elbow thing. >> All right. Well, before Can you talk to me? >> Before I ask you Before I ask you any further questions, I'm just going to read you your rights. Okay. >> I'm not saying you're being arrested right now, but I'm I'm advising you of your Miranda rights. Okay. >> All right. Do Do you understand the rights I just read to you? I need a verbal answer. Yes or no? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um, are you willing to answer questions or make statement without without attorney being present right now? >> It's like the >> I just want to I can't really I'm sure you can hear anything that he just said. >> It's just this is like so loud. >> So, hold on. Look, let me just finish this part. Let me finish this part. Literally two sentences left. Okay. I know that you can hear me. There's no way you can't hear me. I'm not a soft spoken person. Okay. So, look. Are you willing to answer questions or make a statement without attorney being present right now? After the rights are read to you, you said that you understood them. The next question is, are you willing to answer questions or make statement without an attorney being present? >> It's well um >> it's a simple yes or no question. Just you're extending >> without an attorney. What about a parent? >> No, >> you're an adult. >> So, I think an attorney would be better at this. Are you willing to at least give me a written statement about what happened? >> I just forgot what happened. >> You don't remember? >> It's not that I don't remember. To my knowledge, I got up one time flight. The guy was the row in front of me. Okay. From what I heard from most people that were making fun of the >> Were you sitting? >> No, I was sitting behind him. The plane was a little like >> Were you Were you aisle, middle, or window? >> I was on the middle. And so there this elbow thing. This guy was just Yeah. Have you eaten me? >> So, you got up you got up to go to the bathroom, right? >> Why would I intentionally elbow a stranger? I don't. >> A legal decision was made right at the airport. No handcuffs, but the consequences ahead were anything but light. >> I have every reason. I have everything I need to take you to jail right now. I have a victim and I have two witness statements being filled out right now. Okay? And everything that you told me just matched up with exactly what they told me. Okay? You were sitting in the seat behind him in the middle aisle and you said, "Oh, it's like I would have to be in front of him." No. When you try to get out of the aisle, that's when you elbowed him. Okay. >> Purposely >> you said And what they're telling me and witnesses are telling me that you said, "Oh, you're on a frontier flight. Deal with it." After you struck him with his el your elbow. >> So, what's going to happen is I can take you to jail. However, what what's going to happen is I'm going to direct file it with the state attorney and let them see if I have enough probable cause and they're going to issue a warrant for your arrest for simple battery. >> Can we just walk out of here? I need to sit down. I don't feel well. >> So, now look now if we walk out here >> and you and you try to take off running or something like that. >> No, no. Can we all you can like walk with me? Dad, >> get the lawyer on the phone. This is ridiculous. >> Look, I on planes before. You know what? >> Okay. Well, then that person should have went to jail, too. >> No, no, buddy. It's not intentional. That's the difference between a shaky plane. It was looking grounded. I'm not trying to prove you wrong. This guy hated >> I have witnesses saying that you were sitting there kind of constantly pestering them, asking about when the drinks are coming out about phone numbers with this guy. Everything next to me was Okay, look, I don't want to fight with you cuz let's just go with the version of the story that includes you being right. >> No, no, no. I want to go with >> the correct story. Okay. I'm not just making up a story. >> Can we just walk out of here? I feel I'm feeling like really trapped. I'll talk to you. Let's get him. >> All right, Dad. All right. I got to go. I'm Or say I'm But let me write the statement. >> Do you Do you want to give a written statement >> and then I can leave? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> All right. Come over here cuz you're not going to be able to write sitting down. >> So, he's trying to say I like intentionally hurt him. >> Look, I've read you your your rights twice. I >> I just want to know what the act like I'm charged with. Who told you that? >> I'm just trying to break this. What is he trying to say? I did hit him. Elbowed him >> that you elbowed him in the side of his head >> intentionally. >> Yes. All right. That's insane. I don't even know him. Why would I do that to a stranger on an airplane? >> I don't know. I don't know. >> That's crazy. All right. I wouldn't call it turbulence, but like strong like movement of the plane. What's a good word for that? Like >> I can't assist you in your statement. >> I'm just trying to explain it. Like why would I elbow a stranger? >> In Florida, a simple battery offense can carry penalties, including up to about 60 days in county jail and fines of up to approximately $500 USD. Police filed a simple battery charge and issued a court summon instead of making an on the spot arrest. An accidental shove in the air traded for a court summons on the ground.
