YOU DOING THAT? YOU SITTING UP HERE. NO, you're not. You not YOU NOT YOU NOT GOING TO SIT UP HERE and put me on my >> On the ground now. On the ground now. >> On August 18th, 2022, officer Latham while off duty at Walmart observed a woman through sect of attempting to steal. The woman removed the price tag from a handbag, stuffed various items into it, and walked out without paying for anything. Before she could leave, the officer approached her to investigate. Retail theft is governed by section 812.015 of the Florida statutes. This law covers actions such as taking merchandise without paying, altering price tags, and removing shopping carts from the business premises without permission. In addition to legal penalties, Walmart may also impose store bans on individuals caught shoplifting. >> Bring your cart. Come back inside the store, please. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Bring your cart inside the store, please. >> I'm coming inside the store. >> Now, I don't know what you go back to this door right here. >> Ma'am, push the car inside the store. >> All right. Go ahead and pull your card up over here for me. >> Okay. So, what is y'all talking about? What What is it? Because it's two train. >> Do you have an ID on you? If you want to leave out of here, you're gonna change your address. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. If not, I'll just take you to the county because I really don't care. >> I don't go to jail. >> You don't? Because you can't. >> I don't go to jail. I don't have a record. >> I'm not going to jail. It's not every day someone can make such a statement. Unfortunately for this woman, there's a first time for everything. But she certainly wasn't going down without a fight. >> That's why exactly I don't come here. I don't do not come to this Walmart because y'all be on [ __ ] He said, >> "Okay, first of all, stop. Stop all that. Back away. Back away from the card mail. >> My receipt is right here." >> Okay, give me your receipt >> cuz I have two transactions. >> Okay. Excellent. There's that, Miss Daisy. This purse does not belong to you. This purse belongs to the store. I watched you take this off the shelf and tear the tags off. These do not belong to you. This does not belong to you. I watched you put this inside the purse. Please don't grab any of the stolen merchandise. Please don't grab anything out of the purse. >> You got that? Thank you. I can go into my wallet >> because I've stopped you for a lawful reason. No, you cannot go into your wallet. I don't know what's inside your wallet. >> Okay, that's it. >> Miss Daisy, I'm I'm going to walk her down to the office and then we'll tell her to put my money back on my I would tell you. Let's walk this way cuz I I don't want it. $300 for all my stuff. Walk this way. Please don't be aggressive. >> Walk this way. Pay attention to what I'm telling you then. I am paying attention to >> Please walk this way. >> That's frustrating. >> The woman accused the officers of harassment when asked for a receipt. They checked the bag and found items that didn't belong to her, prompting the officer to escort her to the office for further processing. >> And I'm tired. What is it? You need to communicate. >> I've already told you what you've been stopped for. >> Okay. You said shoplifting with a purse and you didn't pay for your pennies. >> That's correct. >> And I paid for everything else for my >> Okay, that's fine. So, they're going to go through the car, pack my car. I know I said >> go ahead and go ahead and just refund me my money back and I'll go somewhere else. >> That's why usually people come in and they pay for the stuff and they get the lead. >> My stuff, sir. Don't don't don't come at me like that because I'm not a [ __ ] thief. I don't have a record being a thief. >> Okay. But you got caught stealing today, right? >> I got caught stealing today. Okay. If that justifies you >> No, it doesn't work that way. >> What doesn't work that way? >> You don't just get to leave. >> Why do I not get to leave? Because you're being stopped. I have your wallet. >> Okay. Can I have my wallet? >> No, you cannot. Okay, you can keep that. I I'll get something. >> Excuse me. >> Don't bump me, ma'am. Because I didn't I didn't do nothing to stop and have a seat. >> Okay. I am going to have Stop. I'm going to take you to the ground >> because you're hurt. >> Stop. I'm going take you to the ground. >> I'm going to stop. I'm going to take you to the ground. >> My pinky. That's >> I'm telling you right now, if you do not stop tensing up, I'm going to take you to the ground. >> I'll go sit down. >> No. Now you're going to get put in cuffs. >> For what? >> Stop tensing up. I'm going to take you to the ground. >> Her attitude towards the officer after he confronted her said it all. She was angry about being caught for stealing and tried to act as if she was being unlawfully detained. But her arrogance and naivity didn't stop there. After a few minutes of struggle, she was eventually handcuffed by the officer as she tried to leave. Despite being warned, she continued to resist and be uncooperative, escalating the tension. Statute 843.02, Resisting Arrest without violence. Resisting arrest without using violence, such as intentionally obstructing or refusing to follow an officer's orders, is a firstderee misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. >> And I'm I'm trying to get I'm >> I told you to stop. >> What you doing, sir? You sitting up here. NO, YOU'RE NOT. YOU not You not You're not going to sit up here and put me on my >> On the ground now. On the ground now. >> On the ground now. >> On the ground now. >> Let go my arm like that. >> On the ground now. >> Oh my god. >> On the ground now. >> Call my [ __ ] lawyer. >> Call my daddy. Call my dad. I did not try to break those. Get off me and I cannot breathe. >> You'll be able to just say off me. >> Give me your other arm. >> I'mma give you my other arm when you want something, sir. Get off me now. You don't lost your mind. What is your name? And your NAME IS COME OUT MY [ __ ] MOUTH. MOVE. >> Stand up. >> If I CAN IF YOU WAIT. >> Stand up. >> Damn. Okay, give me a second. >> The woman resisted vehemently when being arrested, forcing the officer to subdue and pin her to the ground. Despite being restrained, she continued to resist, trying to break free from the officer's hold. During the struggle, she repeatedly hurled insults, showing contempt, and challenging the officer's authority, which further escalated the situation. Her behavior only worsened the situation. Instead of resisting, she should have remained calm, cooperated with the police, followed orders, and provided information politely. Understanding her rights, avoiding arguments, and focusing on resolving the situation calmly would have led to a better outcome. >> Cuz you've been arrested, man. >> Cuz you're being arrested. >> Being arrested for what? >> You're going to jail. >> Why am I going to jail? >> It's an easy question. Do you want your family to take your personal property or would you rather >> take my personal property? >> Or would you rather put it in a bag and have it taken to counting? So, what do you want us to do? >> I'm telling you, what am I going to jail for? >> How? I didn't even resist you. You're lying. You need >> You need to delete that. I did not resist arrest. I will never resist arrest. I do not resist. I do not resist arrest. What are you talking about? You need to delete that. >> Delete it. >> You can give me my You can give my You can give me my family, my stuff. I I'm telling y'all right now, I'm not going to jail. We might as well tackle me, kill me, [ __ ] Just tell my kids I love them. >> Listen, I don't give a [ __ ] cuz what I'm not going to do is go to jail. >> At this point, nothing she did or said could make the situation any worse. But somehow she managed to. When informed she was being arrested for theft and resisting, she played the victim card again and demanded the officers delete the footage. >> Okay. Where where we're at? We're at the parking lot so I can go and show them this and I can show them that my >> You want to go out this door? >> I am. Where they at? >> Where's the guys? >> They're in the other corner of this parking lot. Be patient. >> What other corner? >> Call my brother now, please. Call my brother now. Call my brother now, please. Because you didn't. >> YOU DID NOT EVEN CALL HIM. You did not even call him. I don't WANT TO GET OUT OF HERE. I DON'T WANT TO GET HURT. STOP. LISTEN. >> For what? For what? For what? No. Don't put no secret on me. Don't put nothing on me. And y'all hurting MY [ __ ] HAND. STOP GRABBING ON ME. I GET YOUR HAND OFF MY [ __ ] NECK. [ __ ] hand. Off my [ __ ] neck. >> Afterwards, when she was escorted to the patrol car and back to jail, she remained defiant and aggressive. The woman was subsequently banned from Walmart and will be charged with trespassing if found on the property again. She was also convicted of resisting arrest and theft. >> I was going to say because I didn't have enough room to hold it, >> so I put it in my purse so I could [music] grab other vials. >> She thought she could keep taking without paying, but this time the law was waiting. >> Oh, stop. Put your hands behind your back, >> ma'am. Ma'am, relax. What's your hands? >> Be careful. >> When the habit of stealing meets the boundaries of the law, what will happen to Karen? A bag full of goods, a familiar attitude, and an ending that Karen did not see coming. >> Oh, stop. Put your hands behind your back, ma'am. Ma'am, relax. The incident began when Target [music] employees discovered that a woman who had been banned for shoplifting had returned to the area and immediately took action. >> She's probably banned from Victory. So, I don't know if they did both, but you guys usually do all county targets. >> Yeah. So, she's probably banned from them and that's where they got all her info. >> Okay. >> And we just think it's the same person. She was in here yesterday doing the same [ __ ] and I'm just sick of her mom cuz when they go in the fitting room like we can't >> Yeah. You can't really see everything. >> Yeah. So hopefully her bag is full and she like will double this was her yesterday. >> Did she steal anything yesterday? >> Yeah, she was looking real hard. But she'll like double select. Like she'll get like three pairs of men's pants, two of the same shirt, two of the same purse, so that when she leaves the basket, it looks like she left everything behind, >> but she never pays for anything. >> When all suspicions became certain, immediate action was taken, but the process of restraining the suspect did not go smoothly. >> She might actually be trying to keep >> Looks like a pink and a purple something. >> Yeah, like she keeps coming out and swapping those sizes. So, also that tells me that she plans on actually taking something today and I know she ain't buying it cuz if she keeps actually trying it on, >> she wants it. She's not going to buy [ __ ] cuz she knows it. >> All right. So, her bag, she's coming out. Her bag is Yeah. [ __ ] pack full of >> Oh, yeah. Did she just dump all that stuff in there? >> Well, she left the hand basket, so her bag is full. So, I'm comfortable stopping her. >> You're stopping her? Well, you're stopping. But yes, you were stopping right after the death. Yes. >> Okay. Ma'am, come here. Come here. Come here. >> What? >> Yo, come here. >> Hey, >> stop. [ __ ] you. >> Oh, >> stop. Put your hands behind your back, >> ma'am. Ma'am, relax. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Relax. >> Hands behind your back. >> What? >> My cuffs. You got yours? >> Ma'am, stop resisting. >> Okay. All right. >> You're about to get a resist. >> I got a concussion. >> Damn. >> From resisting to calling for help, the suspect began mentioning her injuries and turned to complaining about her health, raising doubts about the severity of the fall. Let go of the phone. >> I got to call my kids, >> man. Let go of the phone. >> You're under arrest for shoplifting and now obstruction as well. >> Ma'am, you made me hit my [ __ ] head. >> I didn't make you hit your head. >> EMS. >> Yeah, they're not. >> Y'all made me hit my head. >> No, ma'am. You did that to yourself. >> EMS coming to check. >> My [ __ ] hurting. >> Back up. >> My head spinning. >> EMS is interrupt. >> You have ID on >> your ID back? What's your name? My [ __ ] head is >> Where's your name? >> Jackson. >> Yeah, >> you made me hit my head, bro. >> No, man. You did that to yourself. Pulling away from me. >> Can I please call my kids? >> Y'all made me hit my head. My [ __ ] is spinning. I ain't going to lie. >> EMS is in route. >> I'm about to pass out. I ain't going to lie. >> EMS is in route. >> Boy, you have cold packs. You want some ice? Can I please call my kids real quick? >> I need to tell them I'm not coming to the school and I need to call my dad. >> Okay, we'll get that taken care of. >> Boy, my head is spinning. I ain't going to lie. >> EMS is in. >> My [ __ ] is thumping. I'm about to [ __ ] pass out. I'm not playing. >> EMS is in. >> Y'all got to take me to jail? >> Yes. >> Absolutely. >> Not long after sitting, she suddenly fell off the chair, pretending to have a seizure, refusing treatment despite medical support. then complaining of pain and accusing her of being discriminated against by her skin color, escalating the tension. >> Ma'am, that was a very controlled >> fall. >> Ma'am, get on your side. Get on your side. Get on your side. If you're gonna play this game, >> ma'am. Ma'am. Ma'am, >> where are you located? >> Ma'am, >> can I EMS is coming. >> Let's stop playing these games. Let me show you. Move the uh put the cuffs on the front. >> Ma'am, stay still. >> We're moving your handcuffs to the front. >> You want to put the cuffs to the front? I need you to stay still. >> She ignored the advice, steadfastly refused treatment, and demanded to be returned to prison. But her previous defiant behavior made the case go beyond a misdemeanor. >> Is that you let these people do their job and look at your head to make sure there's no underlying conditions and then we can go through the process regardless. Ma'am, we're just going to have to take you to another hospital. We have to get you looked at. >> I don't want treatment. That's what I'm telling you. I don't want treatment. I already know. I already know that I'm in pain and I'm hurting. >> Well, they can they can help you with that. >> No, I don't I don't take medicine. >> All right. I I completely understand, man. But either way, we're you got to get your medical cleared and then we'll take you to CCDC and get the process started or get the process. Like I said, it's two misdemeanor charges. You're eligible for bail. You don't have to go before a judge. Okay? So, just let these people do their job and then let us do ours. >> Sir, I'm swear I'm not trying to make your job hard at this point. >> It It seems like the opposite. >> No, I'm not kidding. I promise you from the bottom of my heart and I'm not being a smart ass. I'm telling you that I don't want treatment. I'm telling you. >> Okay. And that's f and that's fine. That's your choice. Okay. But all this because you're a different color than me and this is all this other stuff. That's nonsense >> cuz y'all sitting here. >> This is not because you're talking nonsense. >> I see y'all smoking agreeing at each other. >> When it when it when it comes to race, I don't I don't play that. Okay. >> Smart. >> I'm Hispan I'm Hispanic. What? I don't I don't I can't I'm a minority, too. I can't be racist. >> I don't want treatment. That's why I'm telling you this. >> So, that's your choice. So, you let them know that. >> I told them already I don't want treatment. But at the end of the day, you're still going to jail. >> That's fine. I'm I understand that, but I'm telling you that I don't want treatment. I know that I'm hurting. They can't tell me otherwise. >> Okay, ma'am. >> My shoulder is [ __ ] tangling and it's killing me. >> She will face charges of theft and obstruction of justice. Next, when a Karen [music] habitually left the supermarket with a stash of goods, she had no idea she was about to be exposed on the spot. >> We'll figure out what's going on. No, I >> Is he with you with her? No, >> I just was >> He's with her. >> Oh, okay. >> What's going [clears throat] on, ma'am? >> I don't have anything. I I got it back. >> She looked in my purse. I don't have nothing. >> Okay. You got an ID with you? >> Nothing. >> Ma'am, you got to stay here. >> Until we get Until we get this figured out, you not free to go. You got to stay with us. Okay. >> No, I don't have a retail theft in progress. We have the suspect. You just have a second card. >> Okay. You got You don't have any kind of ID? No. >> All right. This officer is going to take your name. Okay. >> She said she already got it back from you. >> No, she never did take anything from you. >> Okay. >> She never She never did it. >> I'm not calling you a liar, but the store's full of video cameras. If it happened, she's going to show us. >> It all started when the police were called to a supermarket on suspicion of theft. When confronted, the woman denied everything. But the truth gradually emerged after her winding denials. >> I put the bottom out. She She approached me. Definitely. But she never got it from my purse or nothing like that. I sat it down cuz I didn't I said I'm not going to do this and I left I left out. >> I never I never left out with anything. >> Okay. So, did you put the bottle in your bag or were you just carrying it? >> I was carrying it. >> You were carrying it. So, nothing ever went in your bag? >> I mean, I I put it down. >> What do you mean? I I had it but then I put it down. >> The bottle. >> Where'd you put it down? >> On the floor. >> Like where in the store? >> Like by the where? The section. I put it back. >> Okay. >> I put it back. So I when I walked out I had nothing. >> Okay. Was that because they had already confronted you or what was the >> kind of >> Okay. >> You ever been convicted of retail theft before? >> Never. Never arrested. Okay. If nothing happened, you're out of here. If if a theft did happen and they want to [music] prosecute and you've never had a retail theft before, it's probably going to be a ticket and then we'll let you go. >> Okay. >> Suspect's story kept changing from outright denial to gradual admissions of the truth, but was replacing the item enough to erase the original behavior. >> Yeah, if you want to sit, that's no problem. Is there anything at all in your bag? >> No. >> Can I take a look? >> No, this is my personal bag. >> Like, can I just open it up and look inside? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Just make sure you don't have like a weapon or something in there. No, no, no, no. Not at all. My bag is all torn up. It's not No, no, no. This is my bag. >> Why can't I look inside? >> It's cuz it's personal. >> Okay. So, is there something else in there? >> I haven't done anything. >> Is there something else in there? >> Okay. Well, if there's nothing in there at all, then why can't I look inside of it? >> Cuz it's my personal bag. >> I don't want to. >> Okay. Well, until I have a chance to look inside it, just don't reach in there. Okay. >> Sure. >> All right. I have a weapon. >> I'm sorry. >> I have a weapon. >> Okay. >> Are you going to go to jail? >> Um, likely not. It would be helpful if I could see what was in your bag. >> Please don't reach inside if I haven't seen it from. >> I told you not to reach inside. >> I did it. You I was opening it. You said, "Can I Can I open it?" >> Let go of the bag. >> TAKING MY BAG. >> Let go of the bag. >> Why? Why are you You are not reaching inside the bag that I've asked you not to reach inside. >> I didn't reach. >> Hey Mike, >> I I didn't reach. >> I didn't even reach. You said why can I look in the bag and I started to open it. You asked me. You asked me. >> I don't know what was so hard about that about that. There's >> You asked me and I was doing like this. >> Who's your partner at? She's She was moving our car. We had a bunch of people. >> You asked me. When asked to have her bag checked, she cited privacy concerns and protested strongly, forcing the police to intervene. >> My bag for no reason. >> What's that? >> You're studying going to my bag for no reason. >> First of all, >> first of all, ma'am, we just have to make sure you don't have a gun or a knife. That's all. >> After that, that's up to the store to tell us what to do. >> What's that? Is that a credit card? Can I take a look? >> Just a bag. Yeah, >> that's fine. If you want to tell me, that's fine. Otherwise, we'll just stand by until the store tells us what happened. >> Why did you just have a bag? >> I I don't know. I just got here. He was already going through your bag. But >> I know. He just looked at it. Why did I have my old bag? >> You'll get it back. I I don't know. >> Why did he say that? Look at it. Look. >> Just leave it before you make him upset again. >> Leave it. >> There's a reason why he said that. We just don't know. Okay. >> Goodness gracious. >> You'll get it back. We're not keeping it. Just It's not a big deal. Just don't touch it for now and you'll get it back. >> Oh, I need the makeup. I'm not I haven't done anything. So, I'm in the store. I'll tell you exactly what happened. I'm in a store. I had a bottle because I didn't have enough. Okay, I'm lying. I put a bottle in my face. I was going to say because I didn't have enough room to hold it. So, I put it in my purse so [music] I could grab other bottles so I, you know, to have enough just to have it as a carrying case. >> Sure. >> She came up, but I was at the counter trying to rig up something else. >> She admitted to hiding the wine, but justified it as keeping it temporarily, insisting that she had reordered the goods to avoid responsibility. >> They were going to go with retail theft. You put the bottle in your purse and it was clear that you were concealing the bottle and I I put it back. >> Either way, um give me another chance. >> Not this time around. So, go ahead. >> Can I have you turn around? >> Face towards the wall for us. >> Why are you so mean? >> We're not being We're actually giving you an opportunity to cooperate. [clears throat] >> No, I'll cooperate. Just turn around for me, please. I just want to let you know that my recently my I was in a car accident and my wrist was broken. >> Okay. >> So, it it hurts. I want to let you know that this >> take your card, put in your purse. Okay. >> What? And then what happens? >> Um >> if you really never had a retail theft before, fingerprints, picture, citation, release, and you're done. >> You call your ride and your ride pick up. >> I'm embarrassed. Just like Can we just walk over here? Just going to do it right here. >> You're about to get run over. >> Turn around. Turn around. Sorry. >> I'm going to be careful. >> No. No. Please. That one. Please. >> I'm going to be careful. >> It hurts. I'm telling you. I can show you. I can call the doctor. I do my X-rays. hurt. >> This hurts. >> Just relax as best you can. We'll get you as comfortable as possible. >> I'm not going to cry. >> Work on your safety lock here and then we'll do the surgery. >> You're noticing me. >> Just keep facing towards the wall for a second. >> And then what we what are we going to do now? >> We're going back to our police department where we'll take your photo, fingerprints, confirm that you're Dorothy, and if that's the case, we'll get you a ticket. We'll get you on your way. >> Yes. You can call from a ride there. If you need to come back here and get your ride, we'll bring you back here, too. >> I'm trying to be careful with your wrist, but I need you to >> The button that we need to reach is on the inside. >> That's got to be much tighter, too. >> What? Once it's all [music] situated, it's all situated. We'll be good. >> I can't. This I'm telling you, it's on my phone. It was broken. >> When was it broken? >> Just a couple of months ago. I was in a car accident. >> Keep your wrist here in the middle. That's the best way to keep them relaxed and we'll get this over with as quick as we can. All right. >> In Wisconsin, shoplifting can be punishable by a fine or up to 10 years in prison depending on the value of the property stolen and the offender's criminal history. Tamar was formally arrested on charges of theft, obstruction of justice, and breach of bail. >> [screaming] >> She drove as if no one was watching but couldn't outrun the police. I said this two drinks and that was it. And once once he once I hit the car >> get out of the car. >> He get out of the car. Caitlyn was confused, gave inconsistent answers, forgot the beach she had just been to, and panicked when reminded of the accident, raising suspicions that she was driving while losing control. >> Are you injured? >> No, I'm I I definely >> Your shoes are here. [music] >> Sorry if your shoes are on fire or something. I don't know if they're going to do it. I >> think they are. They came over EMS. Just stand by. I don't know if it's going to be an EMS call. I'm going to test it for uh feeling. There's just a fender bender bump in the back of it. >> It could be EMS. I don't know. >> Hold in here. Stay here. Let me know. >> How'd that go? >> Fine. >> Did it give you a hard time? >> What happened with the accident? >> Bravo. Bravo. I literally was driving and I listen to music and I definitely I'm I'm so upset. I'm >> That's okay. Just explain the accident. Mo'Nique was arrested on two charges: theft of property and resisting [music] an officer on duty. Up next, she thought a few thousand dollars would go smoothly, but the truth was waiting behind the camera. >> Every single >> Yeah, they all the transactions. We actually thought it was more about five, but she admitted to three. But I we have it back here. Um we I have to notify her we're terminating her and I would like to prosecute and I would like to walk her out and cuss. I don't know. We'll see what we we're going to do here. So, what what were we doing a few weeks ago? >> Are you a cashier? >> Customer service. >> Police arrived at Home Depot to investigate a theft by an employee. When questioned, the suspect admitted to taking about $3,000, 0, and began to reveal many surprising details. You're around the cashier area, so you do take returns and take people, you check people out, stuff like that. Okay. It's been going on for a few weeks now. How how are we doing this? Like explain to me so I can better better understand how how we went from working here to slightly taking some cash out at a time. house. >> How How were we doing it though? Were we checking someone out when we were doing it or were you just randomly go to the register, open it up, take out Were you taking out like $20 at a time or $100 at You were taking $100 out at a time every single time. Okay. So, every single time you did it, you were taking money $100 out every single time. And how much would you say you you took from the tills? >> Over 2,000. Have you ever What did you do with the cash after you took the every time you took the hundred out? Destiny admitted to taking about $100 zero cents directly from the cash register several times, justifying it as helping her sick grandmother and taking care of household expenses. >> Be nice to kind of treat her. It wasn't cheap. She was just sick. >> She's sick. So, you're helping pay for medical bills or something or is there anything else that you can remember about when you took these took the $100 at a time? Were you taking them? Let's Let's focus on the money now. Were you taking like 20s or were you taking a $100 bill? So, it was a $100 bill every time. Okay. And you said it's up to 2,000. You took over $2,000. I know this is hard for you, Destiny, but I I need a verbal, okay? Or headshake or something? >> Okay. >> New message. >> Is there anything that you want to add to what you told me? And was it Let me ask you this. When you were taking the money from the tills, was it only at the cashiers area? Did you go to any other tills and take them or? >> It was just the where the department I work in. >> So, just had customer service then? >> Yes. Okay. >> Can I can I add something? Can I ask a question? >> Absolutely. >> Okay. So, when we just talked a few minutes ago, right, we talked about you taking the cash in the registers. It was more than $100 each time, right? So, last night we you talked about yesterday what you took from the registers, right? Was over $1,000, right? >> That you took out. >> Do you remember what the fir the first time you did it? Do you remember what the total amount was that you took out? When do you remember any at any time how much you took out every time you went to the till? >> Usually four two to four. So we're talking couple hundred every time we took money out from the cashiers. Okay. >> So in our discussion we already we talked about the dollar amount, right? And she wrote a written statement of $3,000, right? Okay. That's important to stop. >> Okay. >> Do we have any of this money? Did it go into your bank account? Anything like that? You just kept all the cash. >> Do you still have any of that cash left? Anything that you've taken from Home Depot, you spent all of it. >> She started out with $2,000. Then it increased a few hundred at a time, sometimes thousands. Police suspect she was hiding more than she was admitting. Um, we have, you know, just a packet for you that CIT puts together. So, once we get um, two or three hits on this, we send it to the central investigation team. >> They go in, they pull all the video, they pull everything that they need, and they send me a pattern. And then we go in and we um, >> investigate it a little bit more. >> So, she is young. Um, she was 19, >> so she's not a minor. Um, do you do the diversion program >> uh, for stuff like this? No. >> Okay. This is this is a felony amount. I'll be honest. >> That's what I thought. I just >> She's going to probably leave in handcuffs. >> Well, that's She should leave. >> Yeah. Absolutely. No, it's what happens when you steal cash from your business. >> Okay. So, about I'd say a week and a half ago, I received an email from the central investigation team in regard to Destiny. We had cash shortages. Um competitive, you know, every other day we had cash shortages. So once they did their investigation, they determined that Destiny could be seen, clearly be seen um on camera popping open the register with a cash strip boy and removing cash, placing it in her pocket. We sat down with her, discussed exactly what happened. She admitted to taking $3,000 worth of money from the registers, stated it was for her grandmother. Um she's written a statement. U I've witnessed I have a statement and so does um the other witness. >> And to your knowledge, she's been taking large sums of cash. Yes. Cash every time. >> Yes, sir. Yesterday we had a $1,200 shortage. >> Video and internal report show Destiny repeatedly withdrawing money outside of the transaction, taking $1,800 just the other day. Enough to constitute grand theft. And it's not over yet. >> It seems like at least five different days. Okay. you were seen on camera taking multiple plethora of money from the tills. Okay. And I'm just I need to get an exact dollar amount. And someone who takes cash, they go home and count it. Okay? I know you went home and counted it. That's there's no ifs or buts about that >> cuz you just didn't take the money and then go, "Oh, I'm just going to spend this." So, I need you with your to the best of your knowledge to just give me the best estimated number of how much money that you took. How much? >> Three. >> Three. >> Because from what I'm seeing, we're talking more than that. >> I mean, alone yesterday, you took about $1,800. Okay. I think you know that. >> Are you sure? You're 100% sure you did not take over $5,000? I'm pretty sure. >> Okay. I'm not trying to push it, but I'm just >> But you know I you know that I know the you know the amount. Okay. I know that kind of sound a little bit confusing, >> but >> I know you know the amount of money that you took. It might not be to the exact dollar, but >> So, we're we're talking about five you took over up to $5,000. >> Is that correct? >> You want to amend your statement and add five in there instead? Yeah, it's fine. I know you're not going to know the exact dates, but do you remember like what day of the week it was when you did it at least or anything like that? >> No. >> No, just whenever you were working. >> Not every shift. >> Not every shift, >> but just when you [music] when you thought the clo the coast was clear and you were able to get into the tail without anyone seeing. So, if you haven't figured it out already, you are going to be placed under arrest. Okay. So, we are going to head down to the jail. We will be able to bond out. Okay. >> She was charged with grand theft in the amount of $5,000. >> You need to leave the premises or you're going to be arrested for trespass. >> I'm not under arrest. DO NOT TOUCH AND HURTING ME. >> You didn't take any money. >> I didn't take any money locker. >> Yeah, I didn't >> at all the video I watched and you know, I kind of saw some other stuff that you know I think you had the money. Police washed away Karen's illusions with an uncompromising confrontation. >> Stop resisting. >> You're hurting ME FOR NO REASON. HELP ME. Help me. Help me. >> Anything? Anything you're wasting? >> Nothing. >> An impulsive act, a lie, and an unpredictable ending for a modern-day Karen. not only washed the car, but also cleaned her own rights. >> Stop resisting. >> You're hurting ME FOR NO REASON. HELP ME. Help me. [screaming] Help me. On >> April 9th, 2024, a woman was accused of taking items without paying at a car wash. What started out as a simple incident quickly escalated into a confrontation with police. >> What's going on? She came in, said they weren't enough, took wipes and strength, told my coworker to get the [ __ ] out of her way. She said if I wanted to pay for them, I would. And walked out the way. And >> how much do you guys $10? You guys want to pursue charges on >> her? But I don't know. I know they're going to cancel her mother back, but >> sometimes I I don't know. I just don't I just don't think it's necessary for a place of business. >> Police approached the woman and asked her to leave because she was forbidden from returning, but she refused, continuing to use the hose and record video. She shouted that she was being discriminated against, causing the situation to escalate. >> Stop. The workers are saying you should think about paying to leave and never come back. They're canceling for sure. >> Ma'am, >> okay, you're you need to leave the premises or you're going to be arrested for trespass. >> What? You need to leave the premises immediately or you will be arrested for trespass. You are hereby trespass in this location. >> They're cancelling it. >> They can't do that. >> Yes, they can >> without notice. >> Yes, they can. >> Well, then I just purchased a wash. I'll walk. >> Stop pushing me. >> You're not giving me a chance. >> Go ahead. I'm giving you a chance. >> You're creating momentum. >> I'm giving you a chance right now. When arrested, the woman panicked and worried about her waiting daughter, saying the police were indifferent, showing stress and loss of control. [snorts] >> I have car. >> Well, you resisted, so we couldn't do them properly. >> Resisted at all. >> Have a seat. >> I came to wash my car. >> Have a seat. >> You all three. >> We're good. She's in custody. >> My stuff is going to get stolen. I have a daughter to pick up from school. I'm in a hurry. My child, my minor child is waiting for me to pick her up. >> Lean back in the car. >> My minor child. >> I hear you. Lean back. >> You're leaving my minor abandoned. To go walk down to the square and search for my daughter. >> Lean back. >> You're leaving my minor child abandoned >> because my child is abandoned downtown. Wouldn't you be concerned or that's not an issue? >> It's not an issue. >> So, if a stranger kidnaps my child or does something to my daughter, it's okay. And there's no sense of urgency. >> No, of course it's not okay. That'd be terrible. You >> sound very condescending. >> I'm not. That would be a terrible thing to happen. >> I hope your camera >> It is on the whole time. >> The woman cried, claiming that the police were bargaining for her child's safety. When relatives called, she asked to be contacted or provided information for support. >> Call me. >> How about Erica? >> Hey, can you look at your messages?
