What I am looking at is because your guys' erratic behavior. The truck being pulled up right here ready to go. The large amount of items that are expensive on the cart and some items concealed inside of a cooler. >> As the three suspects were leaving CBS, officers moved in and the [music] bags they carried immediately became the center of attention. >> Stop or we're going to go down to the ground. Stop or we're going to go down to the ground. >> Camera turned on. Every denial collapsed right in front of the officers and the truth flipped within minutes. Right in front of McDonald's, officers spotted three people leaving the area. And just seconds later, the truth inside those bags started to surface. >> Nope. Doesn't matter. Stop right there. You're going to go a handcuff. Go right there. You're going to go a handcuff. >> All right. I'm letting you know right here. You're being the team for shoplifting. All right. >> Okay. That doesn't matter. >> Stay over here. You're being the team. >> What you mean? I didn't say nothing. >> All three of you guys. >> I didn't say nothing. >> Well, we're going to have to figure that out. We're going to review cameras. IDs. >> Okay. ID. >> I didn't say nothing, though. >> All right. We're going to figure that out. IDs. >> You have your ID on? >> I didn't say nothing. I didn't walk out with nothing. >> Figure that out. We're going to figure that out, right? >> Did I walk out with something? >> I didn't walk out with nothing. >> Your ID. >> Well, you going to arrest me. >> Show me your ID. >> I have an ID. >> All right. We'll take We'll take names. I got no problem with that. >> At the moment, you guys will be being detained for uh possible subject. Detained for possible arrest. >> No, but you're being detained. You're not free to go. Okay. I can put you a hand cuz I got no problem with that. >> You ask Melissa. Just listen to what he say. >> So, we'll take uh IDs, names, and then you were carrying that bag, right? >> I saw you. I saw you with this bag. >> Yeah, I carried >> Oh, gotcha. >> I carried it from there. >> Yeah, you got carried it from there with all the stuff that you took. >> I car. >> Gotcha. You can go ahead and put your hands behind your back. I start walking to my couch. You're going to be detained at the moment until we be able to go back to CVS. All right. Do you have anything on you that I should be worried about? >> No. >> No. >> All right. I'll pat you down with the back of my hand. I'll take this from you. Thank you. You took this from CVS, too? >> No, that's you. >> I'll take an ID from you. >> Yeah. I'll take this down from you. >> Appreciate it. You have an ID with you? >> You gave it to me? Perfect. I appreciate it. Do you have anything on you as well that I should worry about? Can I pat you down? >> Appreciate it. >> So, we at the CVS right now. >> Yeah, but I didn't say nothing. We say I didn't walk home. I was going to pay for something, but my car was declined. >> You said what? I'm sorry. >> I was the register. My car was declined. >> CPS. >> You didn't take nothing. So if I Oh, you weren't in there. >> Uh but what do you have in your bag? >> Um nothing. >> Exactly. >> Just three items. >> Three items? >> No. >> Okay. And where are these three items from? >> They're CVS. Okay. >> Well, >> I thought you said you were that you didn't take anything. >> All right. Well, just >> everything escalated when one suspect reacted aggressively to the request for handcuffs and the body cam caught the moment she resisted so hard she nearly knocked the officer backward. >> Look at the table. >> What you mean? No. I didn't I didn't take this. >> I died. >> Stop resisting. You don't need that. You don't need that. You had stuff that you took from >> No, you can look at the register. >> Stop. Stop. Or we're going to go down to the ground. Stop or we're going to go down to the ground. It's your go. We're going to go down to the ground. It's your >> register. No, I wasn't ready for Stop resisting. Stop resisting. You're only being detained. >> Okay. >> Stop resisting. >> Not yet. If he has anything, we're going to go make >> We're going to get an extra charge if you keep resisting. >> I didn't for resisting. >> Okay, but I didn't mean >> you're under arrest. Stop resisting. >> What you mean? >> I didn't take nothing. >> Stop resisting. Stop. >> I didn't say [ __ ] bro. >> All right. Stop resisting, man. >> For what? >> You're going to figure it out right now. >> What? >> Stop resisting. >> I didn't say [ __ ] though. >> All right. You want to go make contact with CBS and then see if you want to do a show up and then if this is their property. Well, you I was director, right? I didn't say nothing. >> You have [clears throat] property that consists of CVS and CVS called you out matching the description. So, like I told you at the beginning, you are being detained for possible shoplifting. Okay. >> But the biggest twist came when a CVS employee arrived and identified one member of the group, leading the officers to make a decision none of the suspects expected. >> Right. Um the female had the three shampoos. No, she got more than >> No, I'm saying the one in the in the bag. Yeah, I'm not sure about the other one, but are you guys willing to sign complaints or Yeah. >> Okay. So, I'm going to need you to come do a show. Are you able to identify the people that took the items? >> Okay. >> Huh? >> Oh, they're not made for comfort. >> We throw. Can you have her step a little bit more to your uh to your right? >> Move to the right. Move to the right. Thank you. Seven. It's going to be a positive ID with a subject wearing a gray hoodie. >> All right, you're going down for shoplifting. >> I didn't I didn't >> I didn't take it. I didn't get my wallet and my phone. >> I'll get it for you. Hey, Ramos. They're willing to proceed with charges, right? >> What? I have a seat. >> How much am I taking? >> Have a seat. >> Have a seat. Have a seat. Okay. >> Have a seat. Thank you. >> Now you are under arrest. Charges. You you made admissions that you took the items from them. They started to take items from them >> for what? Three little things. >> Doesn't matter. That doesn't justify you being able to steal just cuz it's three little things. Stealing and stealing at the end of the day. We're asking you, you don't want to get another charge. Just it might just be a sign and release. You're going to get a ticket at the station court date. You're going to be released within 2 hours max. Thank you. And when officers opened the bags one by one, the amount of merchandise pushed the situation from suspicion into confirmed criminal charges none of them saw coming. >> It's only these two. >> These two. I haven't checked the other bags. >> This is also going to have stuff. >> This one has stuff. >> Yep. >> I think this is just their property. Yeah, I think it's just their property. Has nothing. What do they They say you just stole like shampoos. >> Yeah, pretty much. You know what it looks like? Your makeup cosmetics. >> Yeah, that's pretty much it. >> That's it. >> Yeah. I'm going to put this stuff right here. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> She was carrying one bag. She was carrying the other bag or I think she was carrying two bags. So both of them have shampoos on them. >> So both of them had shampoos when we came in contact with them. >> She was the one with the bigger bag. >> He just needs to divide what's what. Right. >> Yeah. I think that's they know they need cuz you got to charge them individually. >> Yeah. So whichever how much she took and however much she took, right? So yeah. So from uh I'll call Ramos cuz she only had the the Aldi bag. She had the rest. Hey. Uh, so you're going to do two se two separate transaction. I'm not sure if you're aware. Uh, so the Aldi's bag is going to be the girl that I have and then the rest of the bags that have merchandise going to be for the other girl cuz you're going to charge them whatever the amount is. >> Okay, cool. >> You got me. So just do two separate transactions and then uh whatever comes out to then [music] it's decides what you what you do. >> Yeah, I got you. >> All right. You got cycle plates and everything? >> Um, let's see. Well, >> I mean, depending on the amount, what's the misdemeanor? >> Uh, yeah. Anything over 300 is a felony. Under 300 is a misdemeanor. >> I have felony. Do you have a Wait, let me see if I have All right. Yeah. The two women are facing misdemeanor theft charges, were taken in [music] for paperwork, and will be scheduled for court. Next, as soon as officers stepped into Walmart, a panicked man ran out the door as if fleeing from something, but he insisted he was only moving the car. >> One lady that seen us kind of bickering. She did look really concerned. I knew it was going to happen. >> Well, if I'm getting personal with you, I'm just trying to figure out what why people are calling. You know, >> we just went through a big thing. We had somebody in the car that was a friend. I got arrested for possession of fentanyl. I took a damn charge for my wife driving my truck for her not to go to jail and then take the kid cuz he was going to take everybody cuz everybody said it's not ours. Anyway, that caused a lot of stress on him and I think and that's when the cheating stuff she started thinking I was cheating on. >> Okay. >> Watch me go to jail in front of my daughter. I'm 35 years old and haven't been arrested. >> I think that that's why she's having this thinking I'm cheating. I'm just trying to deal with it the best I can. I don't like it. We've been together 8 years and I would never have changed. >> But if she came here with you, why would she think that there's another female in the store that you're with? >> Yeah. Sounds pretty crazy, huh? >> A little crazy. How long y'all been married? >> I mean, 5 years, been together eight messages between girls. There's no >> me doing odd things like tucking off around the building at Walmart, calling people, but I'm not doing anything like that to think for her to think that she said I'm cheating, >> right? But that's what it's made up in her head. And she truly believes in me. I know she I look in her eyes and I can just tell she really believes she >> as far as the groceries. So, you had a big >> Yeah. Well, I had a goat track like I was telling her the scooter, the little riding scooter, cup milk, couple small things, toilet paper >> and um yeah, I don't know. I don't know if she's uh >> you're headed back in. >> She don't have the car, so I know she didn't get far. I went back inside, told her to pull up. That was my fault. Told her to pull the truck up and I'll be out in a minute. Well, I got there. No car. My wife is walking around saying, "Hey, I got to move the truck." I'm like, "What?" There's cops. Oh. So, I ran out here. >> All right. Well, if you need to go pay for things, let's go. Let's go pay for it. Okay. During the vehicle search, officers found multiple highv value items and several were hidden in strange places. This twist pushed the investigation towards something far more serious. Customers come in here. We'll come over here so we're out of the way a little bit. Yeah. Sorry about that. Honestly, he probably never will buy anything cuz I I canceled all the cards cuz I found charges on them. [music] He doesn't know that then. So, he's probably be really pissed off. I was trying to save that. I was trying to do that whenever he went outside. I try to They knew he was going to be really mad. But >> that's where I found the charges and what started this. >> He doesn't know that I know that the charges are on there, though. >> Are you going to be okay for the night? >> Oh, yeah. >> Oh, yeah. He's not going to he's not >> He's not sort of honestly if anything. said you guys were arguing out in the parking lot. >> Yeah, we did a little bit. That's because that's when I cuz he came out originally without the car and was complaining about asking me what was going on. That's what we were fighting about. And then >> Okay. >> That's when I then he came inside and the car the truck was parked in the >> the lane here. Yeah. >> Where' he go? >> I got his driver's license. >> I don't have I don't have enough in this car to cover that. Um and also with this situation. I'm just going to come back. >> It's fine with me. I'm just going to come back cuz I don't have I don't have $300 on this card. I'd rather just >> Well, I'm I'm going put I'm going to put it to you this way. Okay. >> You both are acting very frantically, right? You know that there's no money on that card right now. You pull up the truck, you have a large load. What do you think I'm trying to get out of here? >> I already know. I already know. I'm not stupid. Like I told you earlier, I'm I've already beat the situation. That's exactly why I'm just going ahead and leaving. But I do have money. I work. I do work. You know what I mean? Like why would I why would I come in here to steal that much money's worth of [ __ ] dude? I mean, come on. That's pretty stupid. >> Come on. Have I have I maybe possibly, you know, knowingly not scanned an item before? Maybe. But I, you know, never anything like that. >> Okay. >> The man continued to deny everything, claiming the items weren't his. But his inconsistent responses made officers wonder, was this really just bad luck or part of a plan? detaining me. >> We're just going to detain you so we can kind of figure out what's going on. Okay, >> just hop into her right now. Okay, >> now >> what's up with all the erratic behavior? >> Because I've been thinking that he was cheating on me for quite a while and um tonight I found some charges. I found a receipt and I was pretty sure he was needing to go up here. The cheating thing is obviously something you guys are going to have to worry about. But unfortunately, that is not a criminal aspect, right? >> Exactly. >> Okay. So, that's not a reason why you are in cuffs right now. >> Okay. So, why am I? >> What I am looking at is because your guys's erratic behavior. The truck being pulled up right here ready to go. The large amount of items that are expensive on the cart and some items concealed inside of a cooler. >> See, I wasn't in the I wasn't even in. >> Here's the thing. If you came with him, you could be an accomplice in this. Okay. >> Accomplice in what? or stealing. >> Well, why would he steal it? He literally walked in. He was at the selfch checkout. >> He told you to go purchase the item there. >> He Well, I didn't have the car. >> You didn't have the car. >> That's what I came in and tell him. Well, when I told him that the cops were out here to go move the truck, he walked out there immediately. He walked walked right away. Not one person asked me to leave. I sat there and talked to that lady right there the whole time and let her kind of know what was going on. And the reason I was like standing there like that and not one person told me to leave. What I don't understand is you guys come together to go shopping, but you stay in your truck and then you abandon the truck to keep an eye on him and then he comes out not knowing where you are, pulls the truck up, but then tells you to go pay. >> No, >> but you don't have a car. >> He never told me to go pay. I walked in to tell him the truck was in the fire lane to move out. He told me that you he told me to go pay. >> Well, he when inside when I told him, he told me to pay, but he didn't. He walked off with everything. But >> you don't have a car to pay for it. No, but I could have had my if I had my phone, I would have been able to pay, but he didn't know that. Usually, >> he wasn't going to pay for it. He doesn't know. >> I know. But here's the thing. Usually when I buy groceries, right, and I'm ready to go. >> Then we get to that step of >> I was yelling at him. I wanted Yeah. I wanted to go. That's what I was literally yelling. Let's go. I want to go home. I'm pissed. But >> so you know nothing of any of the items being concealed on the cart. You had nothing to do with any of those items >> at all? >> I don't think he was stealing. He doesn't know the car. >> Does he have a history of failure? >> No. >> What about this Academy Sports when he got arrested from Academy Sports? >> When the woman with him admitted she hid something inside the cooler, officers immediately shut down the vehicle and prepared for a full search. Something that now risks turning the situation against both husband and wife. >> I got no when I was like 18. Wrong place, wrong time. But in Manatee County, yeah, I got arrested for uh basically, okay, I got sold a necklace and when I pawned the damn thing, >> then boom, I got hit. So then I So I got arrested. I went to jail, but it was like one of those things like, oh, I got arrested first time as an adult, moved on with my life, and they withheld education. So Okay, >> as far as if you guys I don't know if you guys see it or not. I don't think you do. >> I haven't looked at it. >> I don't know, but I got to see >> I'm going off of what you guys are telling me right now. I'm not basing it off your history. >> I got you, but I'm just saying But I got But I also have a security clearance in the space center, so I don't think I don't know. But I told them about it, too. And when I got in trouble then and then 35. Yeah. 35 when I got arrested for the fentanyl. >> Other than that, no, I have no >> You're not a user or anything like that right now? >> I have 10 years ago. >> Fentanyl? >> No, I don't think it was around 10 years ago. I'm not really a thief, dude. You know, um, >> you had full intentions of paying for that? >> I had full intentions to pay for everything. >> Was there anything concealed in like a cooler or anything like that on there? >> I did put a battery in the cooler. Yeah. But I was just making room for the car, dude. That's why that's why I knew that it I knew it looked bad. When I when I got to the front, I kind of felt weird anyway cuz some lady she stopped me and I guess she wanted me to check my items out with her and I was like, "Oh, no. I got to go get my wallet. I'll be right back." And then I went to the um register, told the lady, "Hey, we watch this car. I'll be right back. I'm going to go my wallet." And >> was this before or after your wife told you law enforcement was here. What I'm trying to figure out is why she freaked out so bad about just the the truck in the fire lane. So many people pull up their trucks in the fire lane to load up, you know? I don't know, but it's it's got to be like >> that's part of the the erratic behavior, you know, something >> I'm cheating >> and there not being any um dude, I'm not cheating, right? I have no problem telling you that. And I think that that's got her >> and that's something that's obviously something you guys as a a couple are going to have to figure out. Unfortunately, I can't help with that. I can only give advice from my experience. >> But I think that's cuz I when I seen her eyes, I knew that there was like me. I'm calm. She did worry me. I was a little worried at first because I just went to jail for some [ __ ] that I didn't do. One of the final questions here. How are you going to pay for all those goods? >> Uh, with my credit card. >> With your credit card? >> Yes. With my credit card. >> Does she have access to your credit card? >> She said, "Yeah." Yeah. I said, >> "Do you believe that your credit card is functional and ready to go?" >> Yes. It just not not for that much money. No. >> Back in there. You said you don't have enough money for it. >> I went there. I went there. Yeah. Because I found out that I didn't have my debit card. When I looked at my wallet, I didn't. >> In Florida, theft of property valued over $750. is a thirdderee felony punishable by up to 5 years [music] in prison and fines up to 5,000. The total value of stolen merchandise reached over 1,000 USD. [music] However, the store later chose not to pursue criminal charges. Walmart may let him go this time, but behavior like this won't help him escape consequences for long. Hey everyone, what do you think about this situation?
