But why isn't it attached? Cuz it's a tip tag that I hide for a tip. >> But if you have a license plate, that's a sign. Okay. But if you have it in the trunk, why is it not attached? >> Tag. I have You have When you get a tip tag, you can use it for as much time. I didn't know this out. It expired. So that means it just expired. >> And are there any weapons in this car? >> Yes. >> Okay. Where? Because don't re Don't reach for anything because I'm seeing an ammo on the floor. That's why I'm asking. Don't reach for anything. But are you >> Oh my goodness. >> Admitting there was a gun in the vehicle did nothing to calm her down. Instead, she moved toward the trunk, ignored repeated warnings, and pushed the tension even higher. >> Where's the weapon at? >> It's in my freaking bag. It's closed. >> Okay, just leave it there. >> What am I getting pulled over for? >> Because your tag is expired. >> Okay, if my tag doesn't have the >> That's fine, but the fact doesn't change that it's not attached to the vehicle. >> If you still have it, that's proof that I have a tag. >> That's fine. >> But it's still not attached to the vehicle. I did call the supervisor. You can watch her on my body camera. >> Go ahead and call them. I'm not trying to find my [ __ ] bro. Hold on. >> Am I allowed to get out? You wanted me to get on the first place. >> Stop. >> I don't know, man. My location. >> Don't go into the front. Don't go. All right. Just stand right here. >> Hold on. Look. Look. Look. You don't have to restrain. Like, what are you doing? >> Sir, are you afraid? Put your hands behind your back. >> For what? What am I getting arrested for? >> No one said you're arrested at this time. >> What are you detaining me for? You can't >> Because you're not listening to lawful orders. >> You Because I'm not physically listening. I didn't touch you like >> you're being detained right now because you're being incredibly uncooperative. >> No, because y'all just took my gun. Y'all just took my [ __ ] without >> truly because you're sitting there with the the butt of the gun sitting out next to the passenger. >> It was It was not sitting out. you. >> Amid the shouting and protest, she continued arguing relentlessly, denying that she was being detained and defying every command the officers gave her. >> And my ID's right there, y'all. >> That's fine. >> What y'all doing? >> Check everything. Check it. >> You are being incredibly uncooperative. You said you didn't have your ID. >> I said I did. I couldn't find it. [ __ ] check your body cam, stupid [ __ ] I did say I had a body cam. Now, shut the up. Talk to me. >> Do your damn job. You can't even restrain me, right? Two of y'all. >> No restraint. Just fine. >> I can hide you. Can I at least get my phone? >> We'll get it for you. >> Just have a seat till we figure everything out. >> And I don't consent to no searches. Nothing that it is. It is up to me. I don't consent to [ __ ] I don't consent to no searches. I don't consent. >> You don't have to consent. Right now, you're detained. >> You didn't even detain me for nothing legal. >> I didn't have a firearm. >> Okay. Which is legal. You didn't check to see if it was, did you? Exactly. You're going to get us some [ __ ] You didn't even check to see if my arm was legal. >> Sit down. >> All right. You're detained right now, right? You're not under arrest. We have to do some investigation. >> Sir, I got pulled over for an expired tag. Okay. >> The situation obviously escalated itself. I'm very upset. You're the supervisor. >> First of all, they they escalated the situation way more than it had to be. She pulled me over. She said, "You have a temporary tag," which I understand. I have my license plate in my trunk, which I tried to tell her. You know, I got pulled over, so I was a little jumbled. I couldn't find my freaking license. I told her that as well. So, I'm obviously upset and I understand that. But, sir, I didn't break no damn law. I didn't do anything. I didn't run away from them. I didn't physically harm them. I didn't threaten them at all. So, this is illegal as and it's hot back. And I'm trying to tell her that. She said the air is on. It's hot as back here. It's hot. And then it's like I told her everything was good in my car. They took my gun. So then after they took my gun, I got out to go get my license plate. I don't know what you have in the trunk. You just took my firearm. Like what are you talking about? My license is good. My registration's good. And I'm upset. That is that that doesn't give them the right to detain somebody. I didn't break no damn law. >> I'm I'm listening to you. Okay. And I understand that. >> Let me just say a few things. Okay. Yes, sir. >> All right. Correct me if I'm wrong. Did they give you instructions not to move around or grab a firearm or go back to the extra? >> Well, that's the thing. She didn't let me. She she tried to unlawfully remove me from the vehicle so I would have been out regardless. I got out when I wanted to get out. That was gone. >> When they found the firearm, >> she took it. So I didn't have no firearm in my car. >> So they legally detained you on that. >> No, they I didn't. No, they didn't illegally detain me. She literally before she even legally detained me, she removed me. She tried to forcefully remove me from her my vehicle. >> Even after a supervisor arrived, she still tried to control the narrative. But what the police discovered opened the door to consequences she could no longer avoid. her body cam and I want to >> she give you commands to step out of the vehicle. >> No, she did. How did she give me commands to step out of the vehicle if I didn't even get a chance to? >> All right, I'm going to review her body. >> Can I Who can I report? That's what I want to do. >> You're reporting it to me right now cuz I am the supervisor. I want I want a physical police report. Her >> There isn't going to be a physical. Okay. I want to report. I want to report what just happened from them to them cuz it's two damn officers. And you know what's crazy? She She got a video on body cam and I got a video on my phone. Like when you officer, I get that y'all have a job to do, but you y'all y'all be breaking laws. Y'all literally broke the law. Talking about something you got an expired tag. So why you fishing for more [ __ ] If it's for an expired tag, she's in my car looking like that. Like y'all HAVE CERTAIN JURISDICTIONS. ROLL ALL YOUR WINDOWS DOWN. I DO NOT HAVE TO LEAVE. >> And when they give you lawful command, you have to sir. I you a sergeant. You know damn well there's no such thing as lawful. There's no such thing as a lawful command. Stop playing with me. There's rights. I didn't break no right. >> It's a safety issue when they see the We can go to court. Let's go to court. Let's go. Can I talk? No. Because now you're not talking about some lawful command. I hate my I'm trying to explain to you what's going on lawful command. Sir, >> do you understand how communication works? Okay. One party talks, the other one listens. The other one talks, the other one listen. Am I getting arrested? Like what do I do? >> Just stand by. >> Figure out what's going on. I told them I didn't want them to search my car. Now see, how if if I have a legal firearm, why am I getting my vehicle searched? >> Because I smell weed and they can see uh >> that's not a probable cause. >> They can see evidence. >> And I said I I I said, >> can I explain? Can I talk? >> Yes, sir. But you said you smell weed, which is not a probable cause. That's what I'm trying to tell you. So I don't >> complete my sentence with you every time you interrupt me. >> So am I getting arrested? >> What? >> Why is there so many police here? >> Because >> over a tech tag? >> No. Over her attitude. >> Over her attitude. Okay. Well, she just started her period and maybe you guys gave her a minute to calm down. No, that they came at her first >> because she wasn't being cooperative. Go back to the front of the car where I told you to stand a minute ago. >> Why are you talking to me like that? Like I'm doing something wrong. Don't talk to me because you've been told to stand still. >> Okay, but you don't need to talk to me like that. Guys, I'm doing nothing wrong. >> You are doing something wrong. You're not listening. Very simple instruction. Stay there. Who is that? >> Our father. >> I don't want to talk to him. >> He said he don't want to talk to me. >> How old are you? Hey, how old are you? >> 22. >> Okay, so I don't need to talk to your dad. >> The search of the car wouldn't turn up much other than a negligible amount of the stuff causing that funky smell and the valid license plate in the trunk. After that, the officers were thinking they'd tow the car, but the passenger didn't like the sound of that. >> I have no phone, nothing. I This is me genuinely asking you to release the car to me. I I will make sure it gets tasted to her. >> Huh? >> But the car's registered to her and she's going >> is the owner of the car. >> And this this is her mom. This is her mom. >> Grandma is not on the register. >> Her grandma is the owner of the car. >> It's not registered to her. >> Oh, you're on the phone with someone. >> I'm on the phone with her mother. Her mother is >> He's coming to get you. You're an adult. You can walk away. >> I have nobody. This is her parents. >> You're an adult. You can walk away then. >> Walk away. I have no charger. I have nothing. She was charged with resisting an officer without violence, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Next, the moment she arrived home, the woman immediately denied any collision, even as her story about a mysterious man began revealing troubling gaps. >> I'm going to be out with the below subject. >> I told my sister that this older man came up, said, "I ran somebody over." >> Going to be out with the bolo subject. >> Copy. >> Thank you. Tell me what happened last night. >> Last night? >> Yeah. Or whenever the incident that occurred was in the city? >> No, sir. I was driving home from work just now. >> Uh-huh. >> A man cut me off. >> Oh, so this just happened. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> Cornered me. Was like, "You ran somebody over. I was just trying to drive home from work. It's been a long day." >> And I um >> Where was this? >> Um by near Garrison Bite >> in the city. >> Downtown. downtown. >> Are you referring to a different incident? May I ask what you're referring to? >> I'm here regarding Key West PD. >> Yes, sir. >> An incident that occurred today >> regarding >> your vehicle >> and >> an accident that occurred involving you. >> I did not get into any accident. I got into a verbal altercation with a man. >> Okay. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Can I Excuse me. >> Is this your vehicle? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Do you have the registration? >> Um, I don't. I just got it. >> Okay. All right. Give me one second, please. >> Yes, sir. May I I'll go to the restroom really quick. I'll leave everything here. I've got nothing on my person. I just have dogs and I just have to [music] go to the rest. >> You have any firearms in your house? >> No, sir. I I'm not illegal carry. I have no firearms. >> Okay. Can you just hang out here for me while I run you real quick? >> Yes, sir. And then >> I'll be right back. Hello. >> Yeah, Vic. It's >> I'm out with this girl. Um she's here home. >> Okay. Um any damage on her truck? They can see it. Yeah, it's there's damage. >> Okay. Yeah, she uh hit and run uh caused injury to the guy and everything. She just took off. The witness said that she looked drunk, but I mean, I can't really do much about that now because she left and you know how that goes. >> Yeah, >> but u Yeah, I'm heading over there. I'm heading over there now. Um has she said anything? >> She admits anything. She said that she was she got into an altercation with the gentleman, but she was just trying to get home. She didn't really admit to anything. >> She just said she had an altercation with the gentleman. >> But over a single phone, her defensive attitude suddenly turned into a physical struggle, immediately sending the initial investigation in a far more serious direction. >> Can I ask anything or do anything that is going to jeopardize his investigation? Yes, sir. >> Um, real quick, you don't have any weapons on you, any explosives, narcotics, anything of that nature, right? >> Yes, sir. Okay, perfect. And that that's about it. But he's coming from the city and there's a lot of traffic. So, we are going to be standing for a while. >> Where's the damage [snorts] front end? >> I did not hit anybody in this vehicle. It's dirty. It's got paint splatters. I told the other officer that a man cut me off told when I ran somebody over. >> Yeah. and that I was genuinely just thrown off and we were stuck in traffic. This guy was cornering me and I pulled off from him. I just It comes from Carvana. >> Uh-huh. >> And I assure you there are photos from Carvana that every single thing on here >> I'm not saying you did anything. >> You already said, >> you know, I'm not saying you did anything. So I'm not uh not my case. real quick though. >> That's mine. >> Okay. That's what you're not going to do. Um >> Okay. Hold on. >> No. This is my property. >> That's what you're not going to do. >> No. All right. You're going to give me your phone >> cuz she's recording us and it's it's a felony. >> You're not doing that right now. >> I'm definitely allowed to record. >> I wasn't even going to let hang up the phone. I was just going to put the tailb up. Even after being handcuffed, she continued denying that she had scratched the officer, trying [music] to portray what had just happened as a misunderstanding that no one believed. >> All right. Well, all right. Well, you didn't have to do all that. So, it was a lot easier to just uh let me hand you your phone so I could put the bed up. But now you're going to have your own investigation with us. Yeah, that's sweet. >> Let's go. >> No, no. He Victor's still going to come and interview her. >> You want put her in the car real quick? >> Well, >> he wants me to stay in here and be embarrassed in front of my neighbors. >> Well, you didn't have to go do all that, did you? >> That's not what I said. >> No, you could have just, you know, let us put up the tailgate and not resisted us, but you had to go and do that. So, >> I don't I don't really >> I did not resist. I grabbed something. >> You most certainly did. No, you most certainly. >> Um, instead you reach and grab something out of my hands. And that right there, that's the issue. Okay. I don't really care. >> Who are you to her? >> Just a friend. I'm >> okay. >> Just wondering what's going on. >> Yeah. Um, so >> we just go inside and let the dogs out. We just go inside and let dogs out. Gage, >> close both patio doors so they don't come this way. >> Officer, the only thing I asked, can we step 114? >> That's the only thing. You already added her. >> Yeah. >> Oh, >> disregard staying on one. >> No, you're good, my love. Thank you. >> When her Miranda rights were finally read, she chose to remain silent. While what awaited her ahead seemed far more serious than any [music] excuse she had offered before. >> I'm officer. [snorts and clears throat] I was dispatched cuz um there was a bicyclist down in Key West. And uh before I talk to you, I'm just going to tell you your rights, okay? Just so you're aware. You have right before we ask any question. You understand each right? >> Yes, sir. >> I've explained to you with these rights in mind. You wish to talk to me? Uh there's another officer coming right now. She's going to talk to you here in a second. >> Yes, sir. >> Thank you. >> Just leave it right there for me, please. >> Will you write down my mom's number? >> You just I'm going to try to get the jacket on to her. >> Nice to meet you. Um, so officer or deputy, excuse me, deputy PBO let me know that you made initial contact. When you made initial contact with the female, was she in the vehicle or was she out of the vehicle? >> She was driving the vehicle when I saw I saw her pull up. >> Anything like that? I understand that she invoked. Um, >> yeah, she did. She when she got here, she told me that she got into a verbal altercation with a gentleman or anything further in case there was a, you know, to jeopardize the investigation or anything like that. >> I'll see if she's willing to speak with me. know, I'll introduce myself and then I'll ask if she's willing to speak with me at this point. If she says no, that'll be. >> In Florida, leaving the scene of a crash that causes injury can be a felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison, a $10,000 fine, and driver's license revocation for at least 3 years.
