hey folks pinal county sheriff mark lam here so i get a lot of questions about border security and in particular the crisis going on there not only are we dealing with the human trafficking issue we're also dealing with drug trafficking into this country what the cartel has started doing is producing synthetic drugs like methamphetamine and fentanyl they can produce them in a lab 24 hours a day seven days a week now why this is important is because they're producing m 30 fentanyl pills they know that our kids are a lot more likely to take a pill as opposed to putting a needle in their arm and just to give you an idea how severe this problem is in 2018 the pinal county sheriff's office had zero m-30 fentanyl pill seizures in 2019 we had 700 pills in 2020 we had over 200 000 pills but i'm sad to report that in 2021 thus far this year we're at almost 1.1 million fentanyl pills that we have recovered here at the pinal county sheriff's office folks this is a problem what starts in my backyard today will be in your front yard tomorrow we need to fight against the human trafficking and drug trafficking and keep dangerous drugs like methamphetamine and fentanyl pills and fentanyl out of the hands of our youth and our loved ones god bless and stay safe [Music]
