Right now you, like I said, you're just being detained, okay? >> Okay. >> Karen thought it was just a routine traffic stop, but within minutes it had turned into something far worse than a simple ticket. >> Ow! Help, officer. Please, let me go. I didn't do anything wrong. >> You are under arrest. Is there anybody else in the car? >> No. Please, you got to let me go. I didn't do anything wrong. >> Sit down. >> The more these Karens tried to make excuses and escape responsibility, the more serious the consequences became far beyond what anyone expected. Despite the barricades and multiple police vehicles, the woman still tried to drive straight into the active scene just to find her way home. >> South Plantation. >> I thought I live right there. I thought I should go home. Sorry, I just came from the fireworks way down the road, so. Please, don't give me a ticket. Please. >> Your license. >> I'm begging you. >> Your license. Thank you. All right, so it's Miss, is it Ross? >> Yeah, Ross. >> All right, Miss Ross. So, I'm Deputy of the Sheriff's Office. The reason why we stopped you is because, yes, you drove around a barricade. >> I thought I could get through cuz I live right here. I'm sorry. >> Again, I would ask, there's 1 2 3 4 5 police >> in the car. I was going to ask if somebody >> I was standing right behind that car. >> I didn't see you. >> Right? And if you can't ask, then the answer is automatically no. Go down to 47th Street, drive around, right? We live in South Florida, everything is a grid. >> know that I could do that. I'm sorry. >> How long have you lived here? >> Eight years. >> Eight years, and this is the only road you know how to take home? >> Pretty much. That's what the way I go. >> That's That's not a good excuse. >> Oh, please. >> All right. Is your license good? >> Yes. >> All right, give me your license. >> I'm sorry. >> So, here's what's going on. So, >> Please, don't give me a ticket. Please, don't give me a ticket. >> Well, I have two tickets, okay? Because your license is suspended. >> No, it's not. >> Yes, it is. It's showing from >> No, it's not. >> March 4th. So >> Why wouldn't it say that it's suspended? >> It says well it is, okay? For financial responsibility. So what I'm assuming it is is because you have insurance, right? So I'm assuming it's unpaid tolls. Do you have unpaid tolls? >> No, not that I know of. >> Double check. Go to the DMV and figure out. So here's the thing. You have the one citation for driving around the detour barricade, okay? >> Please stop giving me tickets. I didn't know. >> You should have known, that's the problem, okay? Ignorance isn't a excuse, all right? So the second one is the suspended license, okay? Without knowledge, which means you didn't know. So it's just a regular ticket. So my recommendation is you have 30 days to take care of these. So I would suggest you get to the DMV, figure out why your license is suspended, and reinstate it. Once it's reinstated, you can show the courthouse that you fixed your license, and they'll probably dismiss that ticket. Then you just have to deal with this one, okay? >> When officers discovered that her license was suspended, she immediately denied it and argued as if the facts could somehow change. Then she made a decision that instantly threw the entire scene into chaos. >> valid, which means you cannot possess it, okay? Therefore, I send it back to the state of Florida, Tallahassee, and they dispose of it. In order for >> my license back, please? >> No, it doesn't matter how many times you ask me, I'm not giving it to you. I cannot do that. It is invalid. It is an invalid driver's license. You cannot have it. >> My license got suspended. >> Well, okay. I'll tell you what, if you want to keep arguing >> or your car's getting towed. >> If you want to keep arguing, I'll have Who is this? Emerald is going to hook it up and take it home for you, >> Okay. >> All right, I'll take care of it. >> So you cannot drive this, all right? >> Okay. >> So figure out how you're going to get it home. And once it gets home, keep it there until you get your license reinstated. >> home. >> All right, bye. No, put it in park. Put it in park. Put it in park. Put it in park. Hey. She just hit his car and then went home. Uh, Montreras car. >> Instead of stopping to deal with the situation, she drove home, barricaded herself inside, and continued insisting that she had done absolutely nothing wrong. >> What's your name? >> Ms. Ross. >> Ms. Ross, you are under arrest. >> Come outside, Ms. Ross. >> No. >> It's the Broward Sheriff's Office. You are under arrest. Come out now. >> Ms. Well, then let's talk about it. The problem is you hit the deputy's vehicle. I need to take a look Ms. Ross, I need to look at the damage on your vehicle. You need to come outside and show me. You need to come outside and show me. I need to You need to show me. All right, because right now it looks bad. Ms. Ross, I need to see the damage then. You have to point it out to me. >> [music] >> It was like that before. >> Ms. Ross, you have to point it out to me. in mine. >> Ow. Help me, please. Let me go. I didn't do anything wrong. >> You are a disaster. Does anybody else own the vehicle? >> No. Please, you got to let me go. I didn't do anything wrong. >> Sit down. >> I'm so sorry. I did not know that I didn't do that to >> on. Stay Stay in there, okay? So, >> I promise you. I swear. >> Ms. Ross, right? >> Okay. I've had some problems and I really don't need more aggravation. >> Okay. Well, what's going on tonight? >> What? >> Like Just tell me what's going on tonight. >> I didn't think my license would be suspended for no reason. And then, you know, I tried to make that turn. I thought I could come home that way. There was space there. I didn't know. >> Okay. Where are you coming from? >> From um Deerfield. I watched the fireworks on the beach down there. >> Okay. >> So, I was coming from there and then I just wanted to go home. >> Where in Deerfield? >> Right on the beach by Hillsboro there where they had the fireworks. >> Okay. So, at the end of Hillsboro down at the beach. Okay. >> Please, sir. I mean, there's no reason to arrest me. I didn't do anything wrong. I thought I could make that turn and I was wrong and I apologize. >> But the more she begged, resisted, and tried to escape the situation, the more she turned a minor traffic violation into consequences no one could have predicted. >> forward, right? >> Oh, I don't know. >> So, again, >> I didn't realize it. >> again, it's not like a vehicle was totaled. It's just a little bit of a scratch on the car, right? And we told you to stop and you said no. >> Cuz I got scared. I got scared. I'm sorry. I apologize. >> for? back down. >> I know I'm apologizing to you. Please please undo the cuffs. Please. >> Okay. >> I'm begging you. I I have other problems in my life right now. >> I understand that. >> pay for this place that I live in and just everything. I do I'm doing everything I should do. >> Okay. >> And that's why when when you pulled me over, I just didn't think I was doing anything wrong when I turned. I thought there was space in there that I could turn and pull and go home. I didn't realize that I couldn't. Cuz there was there was a big big space in there and I figured, "Okay, I can pull in and go home." >> Okay. >> Sir, please please let me go. I I don't >> swing your feet back inside for me. I'll be right back, okay? >> No, please. >> Just sit back inside the car for a minute. I'll get back out. >> Please. >> Sit back down. >> Let me go. >> Sit back down, okay? >> Please. >> Swing your feet in for me, okay? And just give me a minute. You're being uncooperative, okay? For leaving the scene of an accident, okay? And in addition to driving with a suspended license and I just told you not to drive, okay? >> I didn't know. I thought I could just drive home. >> No. I told you you cannot drive. I said figure out how you're going to get home, okay? So, stop pushing. >> can't You can't arrest me. Please. God God is with me right now. >> Okay. Well, he's going to be with you in the backseat because you're not going to get out. >> Let me help you find the stuff. >> No. >> Let me help you find the stuff and then I'll I'll do it. No. No. >> Stop pushing. Stop. Okay. Don't make things up. >> I don't want to be arrested. >> It's your turn inside. I'm not playing games with you anymore. Slide in. There's only one of two ways. Easy way or the HARD WAY. I'M PLAYING ONE MORE TIME. Slide in. >> That's right. >> She was arrested on multiple charges including fleeing or attempting to elude police, resisting without violence, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, failing to obey police, driving around a barricade, and DUI. The woman repeatedly denied any involvement, but her calm demeanor quickly became suspicious when police took a closer look at the vehicle. >> Girl, her name's short uh chunkier chick uh >> What's going on? >> She's uh she ran away from her grandma's house and she so she was recorded missing. I just So she I she's been here before. I just didn't know if anyone's seen her. Do you know >> Yeah, I know you. >> You know she ain't been here? >> She ain't been here since May 15th. I thought she was in school. >> When's the last time you heard from her? >> I want to say a week ago. >> A week Oh, okay. Uh Okay, you mind if I get your name just so I can put it in the supplement and just say who I talked to? >> Frank Jackson. >> Okay. What about uh Abdullah? You seen Abdullah around? No? You know who I'm talking about though? >> No. >> Uh light skinned dude. He's I think he's actually Was he like Arabic, Indian? >> Middle Eastern. >> Middle Eastern. He's got like that curly froze kind of hair. >> I see a lot of people that look like that, but I don't know nobody named >> Do you live here? >> No, this is my friend's house. >> Okay. Is anybody home? >> I think you can knock it. it >> At his house or is it somebody else's? Okay. >> Wait, you talking about the um What's his name? The bald dude? >> You mind mind rolling this down for me? >> Um what for? >> I'm looking for a missing juvenile, that's why. Who is that? Yeah, step out the car. You You don't know his name?
