all right everybody as you know driving in the left lane is one of my pet peeves I think it's a pet peeve for a lot of people and uh it is actually a code violation here in the state of Arizona so I'm with the new sheriff incoming sheriff and uh we're out we're out doing some left lane camping uh stops today to make sure that uh they know that even though I might not be the sheriff anymore there's going to be a new sheriff in town and he feels the same way exactly like we're witnessing right in front of us this truck is camped in the left lane the number one lane is for active passing only and it's forcing the um car in the little blue car to pass on the right hand side now and that's more dangerous cuz on the right hand side is where people are walking legal pedestrians would be walking people that have broke down maybe they had to secure their load and they're trying to get back on the freeway or people on the onramp so when you force people to pass you on the right what it does is is it creates a d dous flow of traffic camping in the left lane really hampers Fast Response times to calls for service if your Grandma needs an ambulance you want that ambulance there as soon as possible if there's a a domestic disturbance you want the deputies there as soon as possible best way we do that is is keep the left lane clear for active passing only there's nothing that drives you crazy more crazy than driving when I'm try going lights and Sirens trying to go to a call and I'm behind because we're supposed to stay in in this Lane and I'm behind somebody that will not get out of driver's license registration Insurance real quick where in New Mexico you guys from Cru H cruus you know where kada New Mexico is yes yeah that's where I graduated high school oh wow yeah couple days ago though oh reason I pulled you over today is is Arizona has a law of left lane camping okay title 28721 means that the number one lane is for active passing only yeah yeah we had you for quite a while with just camping in the left lane as we call that yeah he was very upfront about it he's like oh I didn't know that and we were in the left lane I tell you what Gerald I want to cut you a break sir because you were so great at getting over to the right lane all right that that little blue car didn't want to let us get over but you you took your time and you got us safely onto the side of the road so I really appreciate that sir so I prefer my traffic stops to be informative not punitive anyway so just wanted to ask you guys when you're traveling in Arizona please unless you're actively passing someone um stay out of the number one lane all right guys all right God bless you guys two out of State Drivers both of them didn't know Arizona statute most arizonans don't know the Arizona statute and then you'll get people that are argue and you tell us we're wrong yeah it's like no this is the statue all right should we try got to get more sounds great do it so right now we've been watching this little blue car camping in the left lane for over 3 miles now and it never has overtaken this silver pickup truck it's just been Camp beside it creating a virtual Rolling Road Block finally is now passing them but what we're going to wait for is see if they actually move back over over which they did see that's a good use of the number one lane active passing the two vehicles took them a little longer than we would have liked but thank you so this is a good example nobody even close she's not in the active not actively pass or he she don't know who it is yet they're not actively passing and uh just camping in the left lane so what do you think Sheriff get stop on it I think so Sheriff [Music] I think we have here a perfect example of someone not looking in the a perfect example of this is is how long you think we were behind you before you realized we were behind you uh I I do not know cuz we had lights and Sirens going for quite a while right or I should say we had lights going for quite a while we finally had to bump the siren to get you to look in your rarw mirror so imagine if we were trying to run to a call or something like that okay Michael this is your lucky day okay I'm not going to write you any tickets I really appreciate you guys I prefer my traffic stops to be informative not punitive all right guys yeah it's a little different little different in Arizona than California I know in California everybody Hogs every single l cuz you guys just have massive traffic there yeah thank you so much no problem you guys have a great day okay driver's from out of state he's from California he acknowledged that he didn't know what Arizona law was and he understood the reasoning behind it and like we had a pleasant discussion about the fact that in California usually every single Lane's blocked up with 3 miles of traffic so he understands the difference of driving in Arizona for my traffic stops to be informative and that's exactly what it was you got the message that's the key that's exactly right and I find that most people don't realize that it's the law they don't realize why he gets it because he's from California so now he knows Arizona's law that's exactly right [Music] [Music]
