There's meth in there. >> One traffic stop was all it took for Karen to turn everything into a disaster. >> YOU'RE GETTING RESISTANCE. >> KAREN KEPT ARGUING OVER A FATEFUL TRAFFIC STOP, and the outcome couldn't have been worse. The moment she was pulled over, the woman repeatedly begged to call her mother instead of cooperating, but the officers firmly [music] refused, setting the stage for a tense confrontation. >> We pulled you over for a stop sign violation back there. You got to cut You got to cut that right across the center. You okay? Okay. License, registration, proof of insurance. >> I think you can look it up, right? Well, I mean, I should have it. I should have it. I should have >> I can look it up, but you know, I don't I have to write a citation. >> It's better to have it, right? It's better to not have it, right? >> It's a citation if you don't have it. You can't show proof of insurance. It's a It's It's like a dismissal ticket. Come here. Step out of the car, ma'am. All right. You can close the door. I'm going to talk to you back here. All right. Here's the deal. Pulled you over for a lane violation. You're going all over the place. Okay? That was the simple reason, okay? I made contact with you. There's no one else in the vehicle. There's no one else in the vehicle. So, I'll speak with you. But from your breath as I talked to you, okay? Um You said you live on top sales. It's quite a ways away from here, okay? I want to make sure you're safe enough to get in your car and drive home. Okay? So, that's what I'm hoping to accomplish right now, okay? For you to submit to a standard field sobriety test, I want to show me that you're able to operate a motor vehicle without impairment. Do you understand? >> I do it right now? What if I get a ride? >> No. You can't call a ride. We're not calling an Uber. We're not doing anything. You are driving your car. I want to make sure you get get in your car and drive home. >> What if they don't let me drive home? >> No. We're not leaving We're not leaving your car here. You're in your vehicle. And I have to make sure you're safe to drive in your current condition. Okay? Cuz you were driving when I made contact with you, right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> What if they don't let me drive home? Like what if I'm on my What if I park my car and then my mom >> No. >> Like why I need to wait until my mom got me? >> No, ma'am. You got to choose. It's It's a We're It's full boat. It's you getting in the car and drive home from here or we're not safe to drive. Okay? So, I'm hoping that you are safe to drive and I we're done here. There's no no further interaction. You're on your way home. Okay? But that's That's how it's going to happen. Okay? So, um I'm going to ask you if you're willing to participate in the standardized field sobriety test to show me that you can operate a car without being impaired. Okay? But it's my job to check and make sure. Okay? So, I mean what what do you think? What what I I see I see you're thinking. I see the wheels turning. >> No, I'm just flying with my mom, but but if she needs to drive the car and then she can't drive it. >> No. No. Thank Thank you. No. >> Well, I don't know why like I mean, was it me swerving or something? You really pulled me >> Leaving your lane. Driving completely over the center lane of travel. You didn't You It's pretty much as soon as I let you up over the past punch line. >> As she faced each field sobriety test, she continued to challenge the procedure and repeatedly interrupted the officers. The atmosphere quickly became tense. >> Three times? Both eyes? >> Both eyes. We're getting there. >> I mean, I I've done this like two or three times before, so I mean, I've done my research before, so I think I know how it works. Like I think I know my own >> Just keep following with your eyes and eyes only. >> I I've done I've been through it. >> Okay. I'm just saying that >> You are arguing with me. >> I'm not arguing. I'm just saying I've been through this, so >> Do you see the red stimulus with the tip of my finger? >> Cuz sometimes cops tell people and like they say and I'm just saying like they do like they have power over like others like that's not >> Okay. Would you like to continue? >> I'm just saying. So I'm not saying you. I'm just saying like there's like cops who like like they have power over like other citizens and it's not important, so >> Okay. Do you see the red stimulus? >> Yeah. >> All right, we're going to follow it to go up and down now, okay? >> Okay, go up and pass, right pass? Okay. >> No, we're going to we're going to continue, okay? >> Okay, we'll continue. You know what I'm saying? That's what I'm trying to say. Can I call my mom now? >> No. >> Why? Why? >> I told you I'd be on the phone with you and not calling your mom. >> Why? Can I please know why? >> No, cuz she doesn't need to be present. >> Why? Why though? >> Cuz you're an adult. >> I want to know why. >> You're an adult and she's not going to be present for this, okay? So we're going to continue, okay? Um we don't really have a line to work with in the parking lot unless you want to relocate over there where there's a solid yellow line. But otherwise we're going to do it right here, so would you like to go over there with your glasses? >> Well, what's the what's the normal line that I'm supposed to be on though? >> Oh, we do we work with what we're given, okay? We're in a business. >> I'm going to give you Yeah, man. We're going to give you Yeah, man. >> Believing she had done nothing wrong, the woman kept arguing until the very end just moments before the situation took an unexpected turn. >> You close your eyes and tilt your head back, okay? You don't have to bend over backwards. That's a little far, okay? About 45 degrees. Just like that, yeah? >> Right here? >> Yeah, that's about right. You can close your eyes. Yeah. >> Okay. >> My finger to my nose, right? Right here? >> to tell you which finger to use. You're just going to touch your finger to your nose, okay? >> All right arm right here? >> That's my right. >> All right. Eyes closed, right? Or eyes open? >> Eyes closed the entire time. >> Okay. >> Are you ready? >> Yeah, I'm ready. >> Good. Left. Right. All right. You are going to be placed under arrest for DUI. No more. >> No, you can't. >> Cuz you you let that opportunity sail away when you tried to march over here talking about business. Yes, YOU DID. YOUR ACTIONS. >> DON'T entertain her. She's acting like an idiot. >> Step out. >> Why? >> Cuz I think you undid your cuffs. Step out. >> No, I didn't. >> Turn that way. >> Why does it matter? >> Cuz I'm checking your handcuffs.
