Remaining calm throughout the encounter, the man asserted his rights, refused consent to search his vehicle, and repeatedly asked officers to explain the legal basis for their actions. As the officers continued to offer new justifications for the search and pressured him to comply, he pointed out inconsistencies in their explanations and questioned the legality of the prolonged stop.
