Matt, don't tell me to shut up. I didn't even say that to my son. >> Come on. Let's go. Let's go. >> Don't grab me. Somebody film this. What the Why are you putting down? >> You're under arrest. You're under arrest. >> What? >> On February 6th, 2023 in Florida, the police received a report about an intoxicated woman who refused to leave a bar when asked. The police quickly arrived at the scene and approached the suspect. Jennifer, >> what' I do? They >> They don't want your business no more. Let's go. >> What' I do? >> I don't know. They don't want you. >> Tell me. >> Y'all can. >> Okay. My car is this way. >> Okay. Well, you're not driving. >> Okay. I can walk then. >> Okay. >> I live two blocks from here. >> Okay. >> What I do? >> I I'll talk to you. >> I'm already walking. >> Wait. Wait. So, wait. Don't tell me that. You'll tell me now. >> Yes, we will. >> Tell me now. >> Ma'am, you're either going to leave the property. Okay. Let's >> Sir, arrest me. What did I do? >> Let's go. I'm asking >> if you shut up and let me talk. I will >> Don't talk to me like that. Don't tell me to shut up. I didn't even say that to my son. >> Come on. Let's go. Let's go. >> Don't grab me. Don't grab me. Somebody film this. What the [ __ ] >> You're under arrest. >> For what? >> For what? >> Stop. >> What? Please stop. Please stop. What did I do? >> Please stop. What did I do? >> You cannot arrest me without telling me why. >> Why are you arresting me? This is unlawful. Stop it. Why am I in handcuffs? You cannot do this. You're hurting me. >> You think I'm a broke [ __ ] You're dumb. >> The police asked Jennifer to leave the bar, but she immediately reacted, arguing and demanding to know why she was being asked to leave. Despite multiple warnings, she refused to leave, forcing the police to decide to arrest her. She also refused to let the police search her bag, escalating the tension even further. >> What did I do? >> You got some ID on your mail? >> Yep. >> Where's it at? In your purse. >> You can't touch my stuff. Do you have a search warrant to search my purse? You have to have a search warrant to search. What are you doing? What are you doing? >> I already did tell you. >> NO, YOU DIDN'T. YOU DID NOT. WAIT. Please film. HE DID NOT TELL ME WHY I'm arrested. Please. Please film this. I promise you he did not tell me why I'm arrested, which is my person. Would you have to have a warrant for charge? What are you doing, sir? What are you doing? Do not put me in the back of his vehicle. What are youing me for? >> What are you arresting me for? Tell me. You can't be silent. Why are you arresting me? Why are you? >> The suspect continuously shouted and accused the police of unlawful arrest and search. Even though just about 2 minutes earlier, when asked to cooperate, she had refused and deliberately caused a disturbance. The officer then put her in the patrol car before another officer arrived to assist. >> Got her. >> Yeah, she's inside. >> Marine clear traffic. So >> she cuffed. >> Oh yeah. >> So uh >> so she down. >> No, she wanted to fight and carry on. So she's acting stupid. >> What did he say I did? Because literally I'm I'm under arrest. I need handcuffs because I didn't shut my mouth. >> Well, if you calm down. Okay. Soon as I find out, I'll let you know. Were you not listening to him when he told you something? >> No, I listened to him. I asked him what was happening and he put me under arrest. He would never tell me why. Ask him why. Ask him what I did. Yelling and screaming. >> I was not yelling and screaming. I asked why asking to play music if I've paid a $300 bill plus a $100 tip to the bartender. It's an arrestable offense cuz I asked to play music >> this is walking and I live less than two blocks from. I asked him why. >> Did you comply with the deputy orders? >> Wait, I asked >> I'm asking you a question. >> Yep. >> Did he tell you that you were under arrest? >> No, he did not. >> Or did he tell you that he you were being detained? >> He didn't tell me either. I kept asking him why. What was he doing? >> As of right now, you're being I'll tell you're being detained. >> Jennifer began to portray herself as the victim and adamantly denied all charges even though it was clearly explained to her that she was being arrested for disorderly conduct and failing to comply with orders. However, she continued to question the police, repeatedly challenging them and defending her stance. >> So, I asked you to leave and you said no. I said, "You want to talk?" I said, "We will talk to you once you're off the property." Management wanted you gone because you were interrupting business >> and I asked you to talk to me. >> So, I asked you to leave. You said no, you weren't leaving. I'm just going to explain to you right now. I explained to you again. You refused to leave. >> Marks on my legs because I asked to talk to you. >> Well, I'm going to get >> DON'T TOUCH MY [ __ ] YOU HAVE TO HAVE A WARRANT. I don't have to have >> You have to have a warrant to search for >> You're under arrest, man. I can search the place cuz you're you're in my car. Arrest for what? You're hurting me. >> Disorderly in hurting me. What are you doing? >> Disorderly in talks. >> Hey. Hey. This hurts me. Help me. >> This hurts me. I am not listening. They're not meant to be comfortable. Have you been handcuffed? >> Yes. >> And you know that it's not comfortable whether you're moving around or not. And then again, you failed to leave the property out the depth. Listen, >> $400 at this property. What? >> If you don't want to listen, I can't tell you. But you want to continue to yell and scream at me. >> Well, if you want to know what's going on, I'm trying to explain it to you. But you want to continue to yell at me. >> This is awful. >> Did I put you in handcuffs? Am I the >> Why did that man put you in handcuffs? >> I've been trying to explain that to you, but all you want to do is yell at me. I've not raised my voice to you once. >> Can you not understand why I'm upset? You can't understand that. >> I can, but listen to me. So many meth addicts and homeless and [ __ ] on this island. >> Do you want to continue >> after me? >> The suspect's behavior was escalating and completely ignoring the police's explanations as if in her mind she was always the victim. Finally unable to tolerate this behavior any longer, the officer gave her time to calm down, but she remained defiant. Instead, she became more agitated, continuously criticizing and resisting. Now, do you want to stop and listen to me? If you want to stop and be calm, I will check your cuffs to make sure they're not too tight. >> What I've done is illegal. [crying] Please, what did I do is illegal. >> I've explained to you. >> Help me cuz this right is for >> Listen to me and I'll tell you why you're under arrest. >> Yeah, >> you're being arrested for trespass after warning the property. And I'm telling you, the property owner doesn't have to give you a reason to trespass you when you when you refuse. Would you like would you like for me to explain and and tell you why you're under arrested because you that's all you've been worried about. >> You don't care what you have. >> If that property owner wants to stand there and every third person walks past him, he wants to transfer past from his property. >> I'm just saying I'm not a violent offender. I didn't threaten anybody. I'm not a drug user. >> Did I say I didn't do anything? >> Did I say you were any of those? >> I don't understand that. So right now you're being arrested for trespass after warning. You're going to be going to jail for that. >> Here the officer demonstrated commendable patience by repeatedly explaining the situation to the woman. It's important to note that a restaurant owner has the right to refuse service to a customer if the customer is being disruptive or behaving inappropriately as long as the reason for refusals is not based on discrimination due to race, color, religion, gender, nationality, or other protected characteristics under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. At that point, Jennifer began citing various reasons, but when those failed, she revealed her true nature. I have a son that I need to pick up from school. So, what do I do? Moved here a little over two years ago. I don't have [ __ ] >> You don't have family, friends, nobody that you can trust. Okay, then we will call DCF. >> Then DCF can pick them up from school. >> No, no, no. >> Okay. If you don't have anybody in the state or anybody here that can pick your son up from school. >> No. DCS is custody over my son. >> Okay. If you don't have any, >> you're going to jail. So, >> were we not on our way over the property when I was asking? Would you like to tell us >> you're a liar? >> Okay. You're not coming out of cuffs. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, >> that you confiscated for from me without a warrant from my purse. >> Ma'am, when you're under arrest, we don't need a warrant to search propert. >> Okay. >> I have no one here. You don't understand. >> Okay. >> I can't let DCF face my kid. >> The police then explained the arrest procedure to her before taking her to jail. She faced charges including trespassing after warning, disorderly intoxication, and resisting officer without violence. >> I'm going to give these to her and go over to your son's school. >> And how long am I looking at being detained? >> Once you get down to the jail, it's 6 to 8 hours of processing time is generally what the jail takes by the time you're able to get your bond and contact a bondsman and get out. >> And I've done that. You know, there's disorderly intoxication. >> Okay. Even obstruction. You don't have to. You're >> What obstruction? I'm not calling you again. >> The suspect may face serious legal penalties. Specifically in Florida, trespassing after a warning can lead to a misdemeanor charge with penalties including fines and even short-term imprisonment as outlined in section 810.09. Disorderly intoxication, according to section 856.011, [music] 011 can result in fines and may require participation in alcohol education or treatment programs. Additionally, nonviolentresisting under section 843.02 02 [music] can be prosecuted as a firstdegree misdemeanor, potentially resulting in fines, probation, [music] or even imprisonment, and may also lead to enhanced or combined penalties, highlighting the severe legal consequences of her actions. >> Foot. Watch that foot. >> STOP. STOP. STOP IT. >> ALL RIGHT. SO, do me a favor. Step out of the vehicle. You're being placed under arrest for driving under the influence vehicle. >> A small action, a shake of the head, but the consequences are not small at all. >> I said I want to call my attorney. >> WHAT? FOR WHAT? >> Was like a beer or alcoh or like a shot or whatever. >> Like now you're >> Come on. >> I thought it was just a break to regain my strength, but I was awakened by handcuffs. fashionable lady walks through the parking lot as if on a catwalk. But just minutes later, the catwalk turns into the scene of a dramatic forced intervention. >> Trying to get her right back up back up. >> Back up to where now? >> Like towards Dayton. >> Okay. Where where did she come from? >> Um I was trying to get her right back at towards East Third. I know it's Memorial Day weekend. We were drinking biking and whatnot. And I told her I didn't want to be involved with her >> activities and she left me on the other side of the road to get a ride back towards date 10. So can you help with that? >> Maybe. We'll see. >> Oh, do you have you though? How do you know? >> Cuz I can tell. >> It's not It's not your job. >> I give people rides back to all the time. >> Were they think I'm like harassing our um property or something? >> Do they think? >> Yeah. The Toyota dealership called said that they had asked you to leave and that you didn't leave at first. >> I thought they were um kissing my journey. >> I'm not saying that you can't, but they were concerned with them. Maybe you've been drinking. >> Have you been drinking? Cuz you just told me that you guys drinking. >> I'm not um I have to hear back. >> That's fine. But we have to ask those questions. I have to make sure you take care of yourself. >> Can you take me back? Can you please do that now? >> I need your ID first. >> Then I'm I want to walk. Okay, hold on. I'm on house arrest. I don't want to violate nothing. I am very um my dad's I'm I'm just one of you left alone. >> So if you're not helping me, can I please never said I wouldn't help you. >> But I do. >> There's nothing here that's um armorous. So that means if you wear my name, I don't have nothing here in this city or county. My name is Alisa Wong. I'm just going to just keep walking. hysterical. You You seem like you're stumbling. Is that normal for you? >> Only because this thing is coming out of my leg. Okay. >> When her refusal to show ID became the spark, a chain reaction of psychological, emotional, and legal reactions began to explode between her and the police. And that wasn't even the most shocking part. >> Ma'am, hold on. I'm not resisting. Where are you charging away? Please don't start doing that crap. I'm not I'm not trying Please don't circle that. >> And then if I can't call my >> Okay. I'm calling my attorney. >> You're going to call your attorney? >> Yes. Because um >> Right. >> I'm not doing nothing and I and I have the right to walk. So please leave me alone. Bear with me. I would love to help you if I can. >> I'm going through something that where I'm missing my father. It's a holiday. I'm I'm allowed to I'm this. It has nothing to do with criminal division or traffic or your job. >> Okay. >> I'm going to be in and out my feelings for a while. I I have not done anything wrong. I packed. >> Did you park somewhere? >> No. I I I'm walking. Please just let me just go back. >> Right now you're being detained. >> A monitoring bracelet, an emotional woman, and a series of calls for a lawyer. But the police don't have time to be a psychiatrist. You won't believe what led to her conviction and a new legal chain. >> For investigator purpose, we figure out who you are. You have a big ink monitor on. You seem like you're impaired. We're We're fig at the back of the thing. I have the curfew from 7 to 7. >> Okay. Why can't you just tell us that?
