A man was caught by store management stealing from the cash register. When confronted, he told his manager he is stealing to feed his drug habit. When police arrived, this is who they encountered. Male started employment here August 1st. So, five and a half weeks ago. Um, a week and a half after his employment, he starts taking $5 out of the register. Increases to yesterday he $300 out of two different registers. Puts me at $1,820 over the last four and a half weeks that he stole. He is addicted to Xanax and some other prescription pills. He's an opiate addict. So he is furnishing his drug habit or funding his with u with Macy's money. I got one register that has a camera on it. That's that polo department. That's because of being at the front door with my grab and runs today. Yeah. He'll take a 100 bucks. He'll take 100 bucks. He because he'll do opens up the change door and pulls it out. It's happening. He's trying to figure out if he's keeping his job right now where I got it. overall. I told him I'm waiting on human reason. He is going to be fired. Oh yeah, he already is. He doesn't realize it yet, but he is. Um, how you doing? Well, I just want to talk to you and get your side. How are you? Yeah, I am being arrested. Not necessarily. Okay. Do you remember when the first time is that you stole? Um, like two weeks I into working here. Yeah, I'm going to be completely honest with you. I've been doing Xanax and Okay. I have a drug problem and it's crazy. I was just coming up here to talk to um my manager about it. Continued. No, I I I have no idea. My the way my brain works when I'm on Xanax, it's completely different than the sober me. Are you sober right now? Um no. be completely honest. Do you have a conscious recollection of you taking money from the till? I I don't have any any I have no memory. Literally no memory of nothing. But you do. But you're aware that you took it? Huh? But you're aware that you've been stealing. Yeah. Uh-huh. Yeah. No, cuz Okay. cuz he told me total of what you took was $1,820 over the period of a four week. I feel absolutely terrible and I will pay every cent of that back. I know they're less than 750, but the total amount is greater. Okay. Which is a felony amount. Stand up and face the wall. You are.
